ok. Off The Wall is maybe not a better overall album than Thriller, because Thriller is faultless. but imo the highs are higher on OTW. the highs being the quadruple hit of DSTYGE, RWY, WDAN, and GOTF; and She's Out Of My Life + I Can't Help It.

Thriller is so successful it's hard to even judge it as an album. it's hard to listen to the song Thriller without being like 'i am listening to Thriller rn.' like it's hard not be a little self conscious, even though it's a great song. same with Beat It and Billie Jean. but it's a perfect album. he did exactly what he set out to do: 0 filler, 9 perfect songs.

i Will say, though. if there's anyone i don't mind hearing filler from, it's Michael Jackson circa 1981. i would listen to him singing the alphabet for 40 minutes and probably end up close to tears.

AND. if "filler" is songs like It's The Falling In Love and Burn This Disco Out, i will ABSOLUTELY take it. which is why Thriller is a better album but Off The Wall is my favorite.

You and Hughie meet at an open mic night at the smallest local community theatre. While Hughie has the typical "nerd" interests, like Star Wars and robotics, he greatly enjoys theatre — when he was young, his father constantly re-ran Grease and West Side Story, and had kept up his interest in it semi-spontaneously (mostly when he got free tickets from one of the busboys there, who he was in an improv troupe with in high school).

There are two things that lead wee Hughie to approaching someone: them being his type, and them not being surrounded by people, because he is an anxious young man. Lucky you, you're both — when he sees you in a colorful sweater sitting at the corner of the room, the guy immediately approaches you because A) you are a cutie patootie and B) he does not bode well with crowds either.

I'll be honest... Hughie, bless his heart, does not start out as the most socially aware person when it comes to you. He is definitely one of those guys who see women with their headphones in and go "omg artsy must talk" so... it starts like that.

That being said, he's never been and will never be malicious about it, just... awkward, and just Hughie. He'll start out very earnestly, with just a, "hey, is it fine if I sit here?" before starting some awkward but sweet small-talk before the show starts.

When it does, you two stop, but after... you do talk more. It's a bit awkward — y'all are both not the most social — but Hughie works up the confidence to ask you for your number.

He's a pretty formal guy, so expect the first text to reflect that. The morning after at 9:00 A.M. on-the-dot (bro was enchanted by you and was overthinking it way too much), he sends, "Hey Davy, it's Hughie from the open mic night! It was great chatting with you :) there's a nice café near the theatre that I think you'd like. Would you like to get lunch there on me? No worries if not!"

You do, and Hughie, ever the hopeless romantic, falls quick. Hughie is a very straightforward, earnest guy, so conversations with him flow on a different wavelength, in a positive way. He "gets" sarcasm, but doesn't particularly like it — he only uses it himself when he's really pissed — so you two are a great match.

And, while Hughie starts out not being 100% tuned in to you, he catches on pretty quickly, since he shares a lot of traits with you, though he masks more frequently. He would specifically choose date spots that were very low-stimulation yet still provided an activity to do to avoid too many lapses in conversation, like bowling late at night, going on walks, or checking out comic and music stores.

Would always end the date with something cute but low-pressure (to avoid you feeling indebted/awkward about it), like a nice note, something he saw that made him think of you, etc., and would always send a "thanks for hanging out with me, I had a lot of fun!" text afterward.

Through this, you two become very close, and after you two accidentally spend a night together (starting to watch a bootleg of your favorite musical at 3 AM is not the best choice when you've both had long days), Hughie decides to try making it official, because... he really, really likes you, and hasn't felt this way about anyone in a long time.

To do this, he plans out a very elaborate day together, but makes sure it's not anything that would make you feel pressure to say yes to him asking to become your boyfriend. He would take into account all your interests and, after suggesting a walk, would tell you about how he felt about you and point-blank ask to start a relationship with you (while, of course, being very ramble-y).

Whether you said yes on the spot or took time to think about it, it would work out, and y'all would be the happiest couple.

Weekly, he plans out dates in advance that the two of you can do together revolving around your interests.

Also shares your love for Christmas to a tee... and a very, very enthusiastic tee, at that. When Christmas comes around, not only do you all make hot cocoa, decorate the Christmas tree, and watch Christmas movie, but the dude goes all out, buying you both matching Christmas sweaters, making Christmas cards that sign off with "Davy and Hughie), visiting the mall Santa at quiet hours, etc.

Once he catches on to how you appreciate more nerdy guys, he will talk your ear off about his interests, particularly computer science and Star Wars, and would make full-on diagrams to explain anything that is foggy.

You two would definitely have PowerPoint nights with each other, and they would be fun as fuck. Y'all are different sides of the same coin.

Is extremely fascinated by your participation in theatre (he's always been a viewer and never an actor), and always supports you at whatever shows you go to, bringing flowers and making the cutest Instagram posts in support of you.

Also, since you both tend to wear very similar clothing every day (even if Hughie changes the band tee, he always wears the same brand & model of jeans, and has done so for three years, even with weight gain and loss), you tend to mirror each other in very funny ways.

Additionally, you have very similar stances/ways of speaking, and it definitely cracks the boys up when they see you two together, because somehow, you mirror each other even in resting posture.

So, that brings us to the boys: Hughie is not a good liar, or someone with a good poker face, so he wouldn't try hiding his involvement with the boys from you. And, in relationships, he greatly values agency — he's going to protect his partner, but he's not going to restrict them, either. So, he'll introduce you to the boys, and if you decide to get involved, he'll let you (within reason).

And that brings us to...

Kimiko is your best friend in the group; obviously, she has communication issues of her own, and catches onto your hiccups with sarcasm and facial expressions and always is respectful of it. Since she tends to communicate with others through physical touch and facial expressions, she makes a point to always type out things to you and have you type back in turn.

She isn't super familiar with pop culture — and is especially unfamiliar with musicals — so she loves to stream musicals with you, and even just hang out in silence.

Also, I'd argue that you both have an interest in teaching — you in your subject(s) of choice, and Kimiko in fighting and sign language. You two will spend nights with each other just teaching each other what there is to know in your interests of choice, and it is 100% the most wholesome interactions both of you have had in your lives.

You and M.M. would also get along very well, too. He's a very intellectually-focused guy, and, like Hughie, tends to be very to-the-point and earnest. You two don't have many overlapping interests, but have really great conversations.

And, while M.M. is busy: he gets feeling like the "new guy" and/or "odd one out" in social situations (bro was the only moral backbone in the coup for a long, long time), so he exchanges numbers with you and always is there for a formal chat.

Frenchie really likes you, but he can be a bit much sometimes, so he definitely tries to monitor himself around you and not scare you away too much. He's definitely someone who can come across intensely — not as much in the Butcher sense, but more in the "holy shit, this dude has 100 things running around his brain even if he seems outwardly calm" sense — so he typically tries speaking to you when he's sober.

Is also very sweet with you when he does, even if it's a bit random and disjointed.

And, Butcher... so. I don't imagine you two getting along at first. Butcher wouldn't dislike you, but his sense of humor and general way of interaction with people is... a lot... and would cause tension at the start.

However, Butcher does genuinely care about people that he respects. And, the guy respects you a lot: while you're very different people, he can tell you're a good person, and one that he likes. He's a guy who has a moral compass, but a practical one, and would be able to sense that in you, and see you as a strong, principled person. Because of that, he would try to tone down his sarcasm and brashness, but, admittedly, it would come off as awkward and clumsy. So:

"Oi..." [awkward pause, with Butcher clearly realizing 'cunts' is taken a lot differently in America than it East End] "you lot..."

Lastly, Annie: while I don't imagine you two would be as close as you and Kimiko would be, you would have a very pure friendship. Annie's been around a lot of wallflowers in her time, and, before her mother beat it out of her, was the wallflower, and feels very protective over you.

She would always come up to you at gatherings with a warm smile and spark a conversation, but not to an overwhelming extent. She probably wouldn't ask to hang out too much — she's a busy gal — but I see you two having long conversations about your aspirations, fears, and interests.

All in all: you and Hughie have one of the purest relationships in "The Boys" universe, and you've got a great group of friends to show for it, too. Have fun with them, girl.
