Manga: "My Noisy Roommate: The Roof Over My Head Comes With Monsters and a Hottie" Vol. 1 by Kaho Ozaki
A job that comes with free lodging is the DREAM. That's, like, a third of your income, for lots of people. More, often! So Osuke should be excited to not only get a new job, but a free place to live, even if he has to move every few weeks.
Except his new job is spirit bait. And all these apartments are occupied by spirits. Spirits that need to be evicted.
All Osuke can do is wait for something to come to him. It's up to his actual new roommate, Nijio, to politely ask the spirits to leave, or, failing that, to MAKE them leave.
This is a GREAT pick if you're a Japanese mythology fan. Familiar figures about, from Yuki-onna to Zashiki-warashi, and even Hanako of the Toilet. The stories have a good variety of tones, from this one volume. Light spookiness with Yuki-onna, a wistfulness with Zashiki-warashi, and one spirit who is downright horrifying.
I want to continue this series! I'm not so much into the possible romance between these two ghost hunters, I just want more mythology! I mean...I won't say NO to romance, but that'll just be a bonus. ;p

Comments: I was immediately captivated by this book due to its striking cover and the promise of a "Ghostbusters" meets BL storyline. While the potential for a BL romance in future volumes is evident, the first book falls slightly short in this aspect. Although there are elements of pining and hand-holding, they seem more connected to the plot rather than the romantic narrative.
The characters, particularly Osuke and Nijio, are a highlight. Osuke's earnestness and Nijio's hidden warmth make for compelling reading. The story kicks off with Osuke forced to vacate his flooded apartment, leaving him in a state of uncertainty. Enter a mysterious man who offers him shelter under one condition, which Osuke hesitantly accepts. This leads to his meeting with Nijio, his new intimidating blond roommate with tattoos and piercings, whom he initially mistakes for the janitor LOL, Nijio is the condition, while Osuke finds him imitating as the start they slowly grow closer as the narrative progresses. Osuke soon realises there is more to this new apartment than meets the eye. and soon discovers it's haunted by a Yōkai, and the two of them have to work together throughout the book to help this Yōkai and others find new places to stay.

The birthday shenanigans started yesterday, with a nice family dinner out and presents, and continued today (mine & my mom’s actual birthday, yes we have the same one! 😊) with birthday treats! We decided to have pastries instead of a cake or cupcakes this year. I also made some brownies! 😊

slowly coming out of a migraine episode feels like getting rebirthed as a toddler bc i just!!! ate!!! potatoes!! I COULD EAT THEM! and then!! THEN!! i did the dishes! it took some time but I DID IT. And i was standing straight FOR 20 MINUTES. without feeling dizzy!! and now i might even start to BAKE.

my roommate’s gf doesn’t like me and doesn’t talk to me. and yet sleeps over at our house every single fucking night. i am a prisoner in my own apartment

Had a blast at stream today <3 Not that it's a particularly rare occurrence anymore but congrats on finishing everything! If you do go for streaming Y0 this week I'll (try to) be around as usual :)

BTW I my refill of vitamin d finally went through and I got to take my dose on the usual day 🤙🏻believe it or not I feel better than I have all week. I have no way of knowing if that's the pill working or the placebo effect or both but I am no longer in Slug Mode so I really don't care
#spiced#the only downside is the (12 hour) nap i took the other day threw my rotation out of whack#so now i have to pawn nosier chores off on my roommates and push back my own noisy tasks#until im awake through more daylight hours#im still getting some things done i descaled the kettle cut and pinned fabric worked on my cross stitch#i played a LOT of fate while vetting some of my music collection for deletion and finally started my last character
