ok so this is my favoritest blorbo. carnage serenity. one day i will make her an actual ref. for now we have this doodle

for some background context that is MUCH NECESSARY: in åtlaar, pre-canon, there's what in-universe is called "the Great War". it's heavily mythologised but is an actual historical massacre that happened. an entire town had been manipulated by a guy who was vehemently against the deities because he convinced them that one day the deities would all turn their backs on them and kill them en masse (even though this was never the case), so he got them to riot against them and kill them. in canon, every magical deity (so what youd usually call a water or fire or whatever god or demigod, but in-universe theyre called idols and effigies) except for serendipity died. serenity died in this too (ironic for a life god).

from now on ill probably refer to serendipity as sere and serenity as seri. for simplicity

now.... carnage has this one difference that serendipity was the one that died instead of serenity.

and one thing that serenity will refuse to admit, because she's convinced herself that it isnt the case, is that deep down, her greatest fear is losing her twin, serendipity. because he's the only thing keeping her from metaphorically (and maybe a very few sometimes literally) digging her own grave (she has a history of cursing people's bloodlines. this doesn't matter much in canon because its stuff thats happened tens of and hundreds of thousands of years ago).

in carnage, some, maybe most of the magical deities would still be alive, because serenity's sole thought of "keep everyone i care about alive" would be kicked into absolute high-gear after seeing her own twin die by the hands of someone she trusted once and never again. now. she's an all-powerful shapeshifting god, which is to put it lightly that she is a force you cannot, and should not, try to reckon with. usually she doesn't shapeshift, but she can and will leverage her shapeshifting as a way to gain an upperhand in battles.

the loss of her twin would shatter her. it would break her core wide open. she deals with this by going absolutely feral. all the red gemstones you see on her? those are made from the blood of those she slaughtered. she wears those are trophies of her achivements (which, in this case, is 'killing everyone who poses any threat to my siblings'), as a threat.

now, usually, she can very much tell when something is a joke. but carnage serenity refuses to take any chances, and has been so lost in the bloodshed and vengeance that she will take what she would otherwise have taken as a lighthearted joke as an immediate threat.

she will also stop at absolutely nothing to kill the guy who she knows is the reason behind her twin's death. she will hunt and track him down to the ends of the world. she will hurt or kill the people close to him if it means a chance at gutting him alive.

I love how much you love kal 🩷 I am not his biggest fan bc I detest how traviss' misogyny seems to come out mostly thru him as opposed to other characters, especially through the way he treated etain but your take about flaws being an integral part of what makes a person themself is CHEF'S KISS 🤌

i am also never trying to bash etain in any way to defend my favoritest blorbo kal skirata, i definitely think that her character arc was poorly handled and the narrative itself was unkind to her. i don't blame any of the characters for that and i choose to believe the best of her as a character despite the narrative fucking her over deeply

i just don't think kal reads as misogynistic

even narratively with many of the female characters beginning to do traditional 'women's work' like cooking ect, the characters treat laseema's ability to run a kitchen for several dozen people as a hugely valuable skill, and most of those women with like, the exception of rav, are not trained as fighters, and it would be hugely irresponsible for the soldier characters to be like 'hey do you wanna come on this mission even though you have no idea how to do black ops shit so that i don't look like im being discriminatory'

that rant aside, and LET US NOT FORGET BESANY MOTHERFUCKIN 'STARTED AN ARMED SIEGE IN A HOSPITAL' WENNEN

here is my take on how kal treated etain and her pregnancy announcement

-nobody ever mentions the Check Incident when they talk about this. etain did something that greatly upset ordo, and although she was right and her actions saved besany's life, one of the points of repcomm is that no matter how morally correct or justified your action was, the consequences of it don't go away. and then instead of trying to solve it directly with ordo (which is fair because ordo is scary as fuck and also violently angry with her about it, and kal is pretty approachable) she talks to kal about it instead. he was pretty unhappy about that, and to him that looks like her not really treating ordo as a man and an equal

-after the initial blowup, kal isn't unkind to her. i believe the next time they actually see each other in person was on dorumaa when she was having complications, and he was concerned and was nice to her despite how messy the last time they saw each other was. etain was anxious he would still be mad at her, but he wasn't

-yes, he is angry with her at first. he blows up. he's an angry person, that's a very, very core trait of his- he perceived one of his sons being taken advantage of, if he didn't get angry about that he wouldn't be kal skirata

-i hate to bring this up but it is canonical that etain intended to become pregnant, on purpose, while suggesting to darman that she wasn't going to get pregnant. and i choose to believe that that's kt fucking her over narratively. but she did do something without even talking to darman about it at all, and then just like with checking ordo, went to kal about it instead expecting him to be able to fix the problem

-and he did. sure, he made demands, he didn't leave her much choice at all, he threatened her. but he did give her what she asked for. her intention was to give darman a mandalorian son, and kal did what he felt he needed to do to make sure darman's son was raised as a mandalorian

honestly my ideal fix-it for that scenario is actually kal going one step FARTHER and forcing etain to resign from her rank, and possibly the order if she has to. you chose to be a mother. you can't also be a general. for both your safety, and the safety of the baby, you cannot HAVE A PREGNANT WOMAN ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN A WAR JESUS CHRIST (yes he thought qiilura should be as safe as possible but STILL)

and just like with etain and ordo, no matter how justified your action was, you still have to face the consequences. and kal does when darman punches his lights out about it lol

Hmmm... I think they're all good at it, but if I had to rank them then Crocodile, Mihawk, Buggy.

Crocodile and Mihawk are pretty neck and neck, but I don't think it's Mihawk's most favoritest thing. He can spend hours doing it, but there are just things he likes more. Buggy is good too, but he gets so drunk on it he loses focus XD Gotta keep him on task.

I don't know that I have much else on omega Mihawk past what I've already sorted out. I'm not sure who his eventual partner would be, but I can see Buggy being a placeholder for a while.

Law in my omegaverse... hmm... that's a tough one. Thanks to @fanaticsnail I want to say he's omega, but i'm not 100% - he'd totally be a MOD though. An omega dom like Mihawk, or maybe an omega switch.... Actually, I'm thinking like TOD - trans omega dom.

Princess Bella DuBale moved to Toontown to further her magical studies. She's a firm believer in the powers of love and hope, and is kind to a fault. Her Laff is lower than most Toons that have lived in Toontown as long as she has, however, as she has a condition that makes her gain Laff more slowly.

Do have any like world building tips for someone wanting to create their own aus?

Oh boy. I think this might be a little better answered by this previous ask (I sorta suspect you might be the same person but I wont assume lol). Usually AU ideas just sorta grab me by the throat and shake me around until I draw them, but I'll try and think up some stuff thats specific to AU's!

First things first: I know I talked about it before but I REITERATE. You gotta decide if you're just putting these characters into the world, or if they're following a predetermined story. For example: The cyberpunk au I am building is the former. I'm sticking my favoritest characters into the world and making up a story from scratch (sorry violent revolutionary Keanu Reeves you will only be mentioned). FUN! The latter would be what I've made with the RE AU so far. ALSO FUN! It's not a one to one recreation but it's following along the story pretty closely. Different AU types have different rules.

When you're just sticking your guys into a setting you have a LOT more freedom. Because the story can be exactly what you want, that means the rules of the world can be bent to fit your story. The only problem with that is theres a tendency for people to make their characters WAY overpowered with no weaknesses. And listen. Dude. I'm so down for making your blorbo the most specialest guy in the whole universe, but without limits or drawbacks or CONSEQUENCES, unlimited power gets BORING. The rules of the world exist for a reason. Don't break the guardrails until you know WHY they're there.

Even ridiculously overpowered characters like One Punch Man still have to deal with consequences. In his case it's unrelenting boredom and desire for a challenge. It's a good demonstration of the idea that if you don't have physical consequences you can inflict EMOTIONAL consequences. If your guy is almost indestructible, have that fact fuck him up a little bit. Mess with em :]

An AU thats following a story has a LOT more rules to it. You have to decide before hand how closely you're sticking to the original story. And honestly, if you're doing it right you SHOULD have changes to the story happening. The whole point of putting new characters into this situation is that they wont react the same to the originals. If a person in the canon situation decides to run from a threat, your AU replacement might decide to fight them instead! And that CHANGES things!

Also, if you're changing something about a characters background from an AU, you gotta think long and hard about how that effects the way they think! If you're putting someone into the future and they grew up in the foster system you gotta ask what the FUCK future foster care looks like (<- a headache I am. presently dealing with. bleh). A setting affects people a LOT.

Changing up a characters personality for an AU is TEMPTING and you CAN DO IT but do it CAREFULLY. If you aren't careful you'll just end up creating an OC. Nothing wrong with making OC's I just figure its not what you're going for. It helps if you identify the core characteristics of what makes someone recognizable. I'll use RE Lisa as an example (I think. She's a good example. I feel like I did a good job on her).

With RE Lisa I tried to look at canon Lisas core traits. She's stubborn, kind, strong, a little conniving (I'll never get over her fucking year long reconnaissance mission), and she tries to assume the best in people. Lisa is a person who seems to believe in the GOOD everyone is capable of. But the situation she has found herself in means she is being stripped of that. Lisa cant AFFORD to see the good in others if she wants to survive in the Dimitrescu castle. The only behavior that is rewarded (rewards being food, affection, rest) requires her to ignore all that. So she keeps stubborn, strong, and conniving, but the kindness and assumptions of the best in people have been literally cut out of her. Once she starts to realize that she's with people (Robbie and Gabe) who are safe enough to assume are good, those parts of her start coming back. She can laugh it off and play up the persona she's created to protect herself, but deep down she's starting to CARE about people again (she's been desperate to care about someone. To be safe with someone again for so so long she's almost forgotten what it feels like) and she's scared of losing that. So thats an example of how I tried to adapt her character into this world while trying to make sure she still feels like her!
