i always feel like i need to explain that my reading habits are not a deliberately cultivated virtue, i'm just mentally constructed in such a way that reading certain kinds of texts is very literally a more basal function than eating or walking, & also hate the sensation of playing video games and watching tv even if i think the game or show itself is thrilling and great. plus my only other hobby is knitting which i can do while i read. this isn't some kind of moral position

While I know that this is something that happens literally all the time, I'm still disappointed that scenes had to be redrawn in KJ in the first place. Like, the first two seasons came out swell; I can get why such a thing happens, mostly due to like. Scheduling issues, and maybe even staffing; it still makes me sad that it happened here, tho, to a series whose art style and animation, regardless of origin, is absolutely, unquestionably fantastic at its peak, for the genre it is in.

An even greater injustice, though, is that as far as I know, western audiences are stuck with the originals, the janky initial releases; and man, it is noticeable. It might not matter as much to a normal person, but as someone who p much obsessively screencaps every scene I happen to like (usually Joker making some kind of funny face; guy's full of them) (also decidedly marking me as very much Not Normal, but yannow, we been knew), this particular issue is devastating. Much less space is occupied on my computer than there otherwise would be, sure; but at what cost?

But out of Hetch, Leshy, Habit, The Beast, Albatross, and Shadow Bonnie, the wheel of names chose Hetch, so here I go! (This post will lean into a more morally gray version of Hetch, if you want something different just ask!)

So, I decided on the name Hatchscratch! "Hatch" has connections to plotting, planning, and creating a plot, and "scratch" is connected to wounds, etching, writing, and pain.

In my previous post about FAtWWLi, (WC Genloss), I mentioned something about the employees being the gifted and the controlled. Hatchscratch falls into the first category. The Founder gifted Hatchscratch a few powers, and in exchange, Hatchscratch works for him for.....he's forgotten, honestly.

The whole mountain warps for the entertainment of The Founder, and Hatchscratch is part of it. He's the ideas man, the scriptwriter. Whenever Crashmask, Snowsight, Slimepool, or anybody really is onscreen, Hatchscratch is always behind the 'camera', directing the employees.

This means he has a large part in the blood, gore, and death. He hates himself for some of it and is numb to the rest, but still doesn't want to die. As The Founder is a powerful being, if Hatchscratch attempted rebellion, he would inevitably have caused his own death or worse. So, for now, he's helpless.

Hatchscratch has minor time-warping powers, view-giving (letting someone see from another point of view), he can cast a 'bubble of silence', and a weak ability connected to the transformation of others

I do think it's funny when Brazilians complain about Europeans being unhygienic or stinky for showering....only once a day. Because........ In most cultures this is a regular amount of showering. Like...it's not just Europeans. 2/3 times a day sounds nice, especially if you live in a mostly super hot country. I also gave myself the luxury of showering twice a day when I lived in Spain in summer - because - and this is essential - I took my showers cold/lukewarm. In winter showering more than once a day means spending tons of gas on heating water. I also shower twice a day in winter sometimes as a luxury, just because it's nice. But like. This is rare because it literally impacts your energy bill significantly. And is bad for the environment. And isn't really necessary. Again. Most people don't sweat a ton or get grimy doing mild mannered activities like grocery shopping and sitting behind a computer in cool weather. I also think it's interesting that it's such a european-focused disdain...I've come across it like that multiple times. Again. Unless I'm wrong, North America also has so many people who shower once a day. I don't think this is different for most of Asia and Africa? Or Australia or. Brazil is statistically uh the country in the world in which people shower the most.
