#my main trans characters transition

Veilguard so averse to transition that your Inquisitor, the character you already know and have spent time with, is forced into a binary gender and cannot have transitioned in ten years if they had a non-bisexual romance partner. Even though it would have been a handful of lines to change at most, and for the vast majority not even that.
Flynn is left super nebulous. Isabela cares so little about Taash feeling isolated that Hollix being non-binary is a throwaway line near the end, in the worst scene in the whole game. One of the companions (Lucanis? Might be Davrin, I can't recall) stumbles with Taash's pronouns even though he addresses a non-binary Rook without ever missing a beat.
We know nothing about Tarquin's HRT (is it blood magic?? tell me! we know so much invasive shit but nothing here?), they gave no grace to Taash's mom, and trans identities don't feel integrated into the world thanks to all the modern lingo and apparent disdain for the bit of language that does exist. Clearly they cared about depicting a trans Rook but the moment I heard them utter the word "trans" without any context felt a bit sad. Yeah we exist but where is our community, beyond twenty genders in Tevinter codex from a non-Tevinter character?
EXACTLYYYY... it's just a bunch of tiny missteps that all come together to create this really weird and anti-transition image
the inquisitor is like. fine. they have engine limitations and already can't account for worldstates as well as having to reckon woth gay and lesbian romances so it would need a level of sensitivity that they don't have time for. but imo continuing to gender-lock the only romance that actually matters is kind of antithetical to the game's branding as queer friendly. if you want to experience as much romance as possible your inquisitor HAS to be a cishet woman, and by default the inquisitor is this cishet woman. no other inquisitor experiences extra content aside from a queer man who will have some weirdly homophobic 'we're old friends' bs... when talking about inquisitor limitations i feel a little silly because mine was so obviously not going to be catered to and i wasnt expecting that but like... It so clearly reinforces this odd binary heteronormative lean that it feels extremely weird
and yeah. i think the best parts of the trans writing come from rook. they say some really interesting things but then as soon as a companion or anyone else responds the illusion is broken, especially the discussion i had with davrin during my romance (and potentially any other romance?). it just feels hollow and meaningless and not something that affects their character in a material way. i definitely felt like it was more about the player being trans than the player character being trans. which, again, is fine! but i won't praise it as good writing nor will i say it works well in da worldbuilding
it does just feel like trans characters are thrown in with little thought and their experiences aren't cohesive at all. if we're suddenly in a utopia where transition is fine and trans people are rarely discriminated against even in conformist societies such as tevinter (unless their parents are from a Bad Evil Regressive Backwards Qunari Society such as taash's or Poor such as tarquin's), then why not have the world around us reflect that? it's origins trying to say that misogyny doesn't exist then throwing you into a clearly patriarchal society all over again. it's a massive undertaking! to write about a world like this it honestly has to be your main goal because of how much your real-life experiences in a binary society will creep in. even some of the best writers that try to capture this experience often can't do it fully - just look at the discussion surrounding the left hand of darkness (one of my favourite books of all time, if you're at all interested in gender in spec-lit PLEASE read it despite its shortcomings.)
#ask#ofstarstuff#you really hit it on the head with the tarquin bit. ofc i dont want every trans character to divulge painful details of transition but like?#when transition is something that hasnt been explored in this universe before can the character we know for SURE has#undergone some kind of procedure or magical/medical situation not clue us in a little?#im a little tipsy so maybe my answer isnt the most cohetent but i basically agree 100% with everything and this is like the main#points of the massive essay swirling around mu mind

Before transitioning: I'll play a girl character this time, as a little treat (picks girl like I did 95% of the time)
After Transitioning: Dare I? Will I? How indecent! How decadent, how depraved! (Picks girl)
#Trans#Transition#character creators#pride 2023#pride#IDK how i ever believed i was a guy even my main SS13 character transitioned#It was after a cloning accident led to them witnessing their own corpse#I made it important because otherwise it was just the moment a smoothbrain Geneticist failed to do their job right#They were more focused on turning the Tajaran crew into monkeys so they would be 'superior lifeforms'#I later killed them with a pipebomb in a box labelled 'wait five minutes before opening'

every day at the moment i've gotten multiple asks that are like "wait, a trans person made homestuck like actually? wait, there are actually legitimately earnest & well told transition storylines in homestuck? and they're well executed???" and i wish i coul;d just grab all my followers by their shoulders & shake them saying "YES. YES TO ALL OF THESE THINGS. THEY MADE THE MAIN CHARACTER A GIRL AFTER OVER FIFTEEN YEARS OF BUILD UP, LIKE ACTUALLY ACTUALLY"

Here’s a bunch of junk for you trans girls to watch
Update: there used to be a link to a mega folder here, but it got taken down.
///TGIRL FEATURE FILMS (alphabetical order)
Adam (2019) it's about a cis boy who's mistaken for a trans boy and rolls with it. Big cast of trans characters including a tgirl played by a tgirl who everyone wants to fuck. Directed by a trans dude. Highly legit. If you're still hung up on pre release speculation based on the novel then you're the most annoying person alive.
Assassination Nation (2018) The first half is Euphoria and the second half is The Purge. ONE OF THE BEST TGIRL MOVIES OF ALL TIME.
Bit (2019) Lesbian girl power vampire movie where the main character is a tgirl played by a tgirl. It's solid. I find it frustrating that they hint at her being trans without explicitly acknowledging it (and she's passing as fuck, so it's easy to not notice), but I know that's what some of y'all want.
Boy Meets Girl (2014) Cis dude for trans girl love story. Pretty normie, but also you see her fully naked (gock out) at the end.
Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) Extremely 60s. Cool as hell.
Lady Daddy (2010) South Korean romcom about a trans girl played by a cis girl who tries unconvincingly to back pass when she finds out she has a kid. Very cute.
Lingua Franca (2019) written directed and starring Isabel Sandoval. An undocumented trans woman immigrant in New York deals with a cis dude partner being a cis dude. Which is also the plot of The Garden Left Behind (2019).
Myra Breckinridge (1970) Raquel Welch is a trans woman and her goal is the destruction of the last vestigial traces of traditional manhood! It's Fight Club! It's Hackers! It's divisive, but it's probably my favorite movie!
So Pretty (2019) Literally the first scripted feature length (non pornographic tho it does have cock) film to feature two trans women played by trans women kissing eachother.
Something Must Break (2014) THE OTHER BEST TGIRL MOVIE OF ALL TIME. Drugs. Crimes. Gock. Slow motion pissing. Slow motion park Fucking. Genuinely the most beautiful sex scene I've seen in any movie. And she makes it to the end still alive and more sure of herself and at peace than ever.
Tangerine (2015) Groundbreaking and also a bunch of the secondary characters are real life pornstars (which I think is neat).
The Garden Left Behind (2019) This and Lingua Franca (2019) really are tgirl twin films, but (like with Antz and A Bug’s Life) the vibes and details make them distinct (I assume tho tbh I’ve never watched Antz).
///TGIRL DOCUMENTARIES
Bambi (2013) about a trans girl showgirl in 50s/60s paris
Paris is Burning (1990) basically it's Pose.
Shinjuku Boys (1995) Trans dudes working in a tokyo club that caters to tboy chasing cis girls. There's at least one trans girl in the mix too.
///FORCED FEMINIZATION
A Reflection of Fear (1972) They raised her as a girl and it made her do murders! It drags in places, but the girl in it is so ethereal and it has ageplay vibes and daddy issues.
Memory Run (1996) A very fun direct to video scifi action flick about fighting fascism by blowing up your pre transition self with a rocket launcher + it's based on a novel written by a trans woman.
She-Man A Story of Fixation (1967) Notable for being such a cliche sissy maid fantasy while also coming out so early + it was Bob Clark's first film lol.
Sleepaway Camp (1983) A more famous version of Reflection of Fear.
Surrender Dorothy (1998) A MUST WATCH. I personally bought a physical DVD and made an ISO of it for you because I was unsatisfied with the quality of the only copy that seemed to exist online. I ALSO PERSONALLY CREATED MY OWN SUBTITLES FOR IT BECAUSE EVEN THE DVD DIDN’T INCLUDE ANY! WHICH TOOK HOURS TO DO!
The Skin I Live In (2011) A rapist is kidnapped and turned into a girl by a mournful vengeful plastic surgeon. Which was also the plot of Victim (2010). I never really vibe with Pedro Almodóvar movies, but I recognize this is the preeminent forced feminization film.
///SHORT FILMS
Gender Troublemakers (1993) Some 90s Toronto trans girls fucking and discoursing. Explicit tgirl on tgirl action. This is the only one on the list that I haven’t actually watched yet. I’m hyped to watch it tho. Seems mindblowingly rad af.
Happy Birthday Marsha (2018) It's about Marsha P. Johnson.
I don't Know (1971) I'm obsessed with the trans girl in this one she just keeps popping up in all kinds of early 70s stuff. Directed by Penelope Spheeris (who is the sister of the cis gf in it).
Mesmeralda (2019) AN ABSOLUTE BANGER HOLY FUCK THE VIBES ARE OFF THE CHARTS! PLS WATCH THIS! I refuse to apologize for it being 15GB. It’s worth every byte.
Pat Rocco's Changes (1970) It's that same girl again!
Queens at Heart (1967) I can't get over that hairdresser girl thinking she's back passing. Most adorably weak boymode ever.
Shangri-La (2021) Another Isabel Sandoval joint.
The Yellow Wallpaper (2021) Freshly post op girl with a supportive boyfriend goes unhinged.
Undress Me (2012) Jana Bringlöv Ekspong did a few short films. Give janabringlove a google after watching this.
///JUST LIKE BTW
Some of these would be tough to find elsewhere, but most of the movies are also watchable on fmovies and/or can be torrented in higher quality.
After you've worked your way through the folder then just start doing Google searches for trans films. Look at IMDB keywords and letterboxd lists. There are so many more out there. These are just like my personal picks.

Is Luna trans as well!? (Because she has short hair as a kid) Don't worry, I'm not against that; I'm trans myself. I just wanna knowwwwwww
That is the intent 🧡✨! In my video I was tempted to give her short hair in her super hero form as well, but by that age she’d be presenting femininely anyways, as she’d have transitioned a while before that.
So the main characters that are (explicitly?) trans (or at least, my interpretation is solid about it) are Connor, Luna and Nori (non binary, though people in the community have differing opinions on whether that counts or not but I think it’s up to the individual, correct me if I’m wrong. 🧡✨)
Also just a bit of style/lining experimentation don’t mind it

meshi stash meshi stash!! whats that one ryoko kui comic about a robot which is said to be a trans allegory again? ive been trying to find it but the title slipped out of my mind
Hi there!
It's called "How to be that girl" (彼女へのなり方) (alternative link) it's a Ryoko Kui oneshot published as part of an anthology called Glamorous Fellows! described as "A short story anthology featuring a great many "glamorous" bodies."
But it isn't just an allegory like Lycion is I don't think. (Spoilers) The main character's sister is just straight up trans and he's still grappling with her transition while watching the robot transform (from what I understand)
#ask#how to be that girl#ryoko kui#request for source#link to post#I've answered this before but I wanted to give a shorter answer this time#manga#trans#oneshot#manga recommendation

Why does this fantastic trans visual novel only have 23 reviews on Steam??
Breathless Winds is an island-fantasy visual novel that mostly focuses on an impending metaphorically-ecological magical disaster, with a strong romance side plot centered on a pre-transition trans girl protagonist. The art is GORGEOUS, the artist has a really distinctive and evocative style.
This is the CG where I fell in love with Lantana
The worldbuilding is also very good and immersive, and the writer does a great job doing something that I don’t think is required in a branching visual novel, but I still appreciated, which is making all of the different routes be operating in the same reality—problems that crop up mainly to serve one route will appear in another as well, but with different focuses that make it fresh. Characters’ personalities are very consistent whether they’re acting as a love interest or as a supporting character or even an antagonist.
Romance plotlines I think take a backseat to the fantasy adventure, but they’re very fun and enjoyable. The romance is very much a bisexual dream, with two men and two women with equally weighty plotlines. Two of the love interests are also trans (one man and one woman), which made my little t4t heart extremely happy.
I have A LOT of thoughts about the trans representation, which, again, is not the main plot. Thoughts below:
I’m a sensitivity reader for trans representation, and as someone with that experience, I was pretty shocked because this visual novel pulls off something that I’ve never seen any other narrative do before. Namely, writing long-term about pre-transition with a high level of empathy and compassion.
My advice to writers whose projects show up in my inbox is usually to not set scenes in pre-transition because writers tend to have a lot of problems there. But reading Breathless Winds has taught me that writing about pre-transition is not the problem—the problem is the level of compassion.
Breathless Winds has this compassion in spades. Where many works would get caught up finding edginess in the contradictory nature of pre-transition, Breathless Winds is concerned with Poppy’s inner world and her mental health. Where many works would have her be “walked in on” wearing dresses and use that for humor or conflict, Breathless Winds allows Poppy to experiment in private and come out when she’s ready. Where many works would treat her upcoming transition as something that disqualifies her from romance, Breathless Winds’ romantic options all validate Poppy’s real gender even when she’s pre-transition.
Maybe this is because that my pre-transition days are 11 years in the rearview mirror, but I’m kind of shocked that it never even occurred to me that a romantic fantasy for a pre-transition person is something that could/should exist. I love that this exists not just for pre-transition people (or people unable to transition, etc.), but also for those of us who have transitioned, to imagine a compassionate fantasy for the ways we used to live our lives.
I do just want to advise the reader that Poppy is misgendered and deadnamed by the narrative by necessity, so if that would be troubling for you to read, I would say consider this one carefully.
I also thought that they did a great job with the portrayal of Prince Valerian, a trans man (who transitioned a long time ago in the plot), to be A+, chef’s kiss. I may be biased, but I thought that his route was the crown jewel (ha ha) of the routes, and I’m really glad I did it last.
Valerian performs an impressive "asserting dominance while short" maneuver
While not a big part of Valerian's route, a struggle that pervades his relationships with other men from his country is that even though they gender him correctly, there's a sense he will never be in the "boy's club." This subtle nuance in many relationships between cis and trans men is such a real phenomenon that a lot of writers writing about trans man characters don't explore, and I was impressed to see it here. (It's more common to see writers only interested in overt, misgendering transphobia.)
The writer also did a great job avoiding another pitfall many writers fall into, which is sort of “damseling” the trans man character and exploiting (what a writer might presume to be) his “natural” physical weakness—Valerian is portrayed to be as physically capable and powerful as the other male characters, and a worthy adversary.
If you want to do all of the routes, my recommendation for route order would be to do Gallardia’s route first, then the girls, and then Valerian last. Just a note that outside of picking the route, all of the choices are “for fun”, so don’t stress about your choices! I did Rue’s route first, which had a bit of a goth, downery vibe, and I was like “Oh god, I’m picking bad choices,” but no, that’s just the route, lol.
If you are interested in visual novels or fantasy or romance at all, I really recommend playing this game and giving it a review on Steam!

🏳️🌈preferably the watchable kind bc energy is so so low nowagays
(Drop a 🏳️🌈 in my inbox and I’ll respond with a queer media recommendation!)
Wendell & Wild is a 2022 stop-motion animated Netflix film directed by Henry Selick and written by Henry Selick, Jordan Peele, and Clay McLeod Chapman. It follows main character Kat Elliot (voiced by Lyric Ross), a punk 13-year-old Black girl who can see demons and gets sent to a Catholic girls' boarding school after her parents die in a car accident.
It's a very political movie with lots to say about about systemic marginalization and the prison-industrial complex, but beyond that, it's a damn good story about a traumatized teenage girl coping with grief. And zombies and demons and an undead priest voiced by the ever-amazing James Hong. Also, Key and Peele voice the titular demons, and it's awesome.
Kat allies with another student at the school, a Mexica trans boy named Raúl Cocolotl (voiced by Sam Zelaya). Raúl transitioned before the film begins, but is allowed to remain a student at the girls' school instead of being sent away to an unfamiliar place. We get to see his mother stand up for him and support him unconditionally, and it's wonderful.
If I have any complaint about the movie at all, it's that there's a lot of story crammed into a fairly short runtime. I wish it was, like, half an hour longer. But it's also stop motion animation that was produced during the first waves of covid, so I imagine they had to keep things pretty tight in order to get it made.
Here's the trailer:

Trans Danny Fic Recs 🏳️⚧️
Hi! For Pride Month I wanted to make a list of a bunch of fics that feature trans Danny that I like! Here we go:
One-shots
What are you going to do, fight the sun? by TheBadDragon || 1k One-shot. It's one of the few stories I've read where both Danny and Vlad are trans and I love it.
For Whom the Bell Tolls by @raaorqtpbpdy || 35k One-shot. This features a really interesting AU. I love that it deals with the question "if Danny is trans and he and Dani are siblings, do people think Danny named himself after his sister?"
Original by between || 4k One-shot. This is the only story I can think of where Danny comes out as trans to Dani. It is really sweet.
Pregaming is only distasteful if the deceased is actually dead and/or a good person. by @ficauthor || 14k One-shot. This story is so funny! It has great trans jokes (written by trans author).
Wrong Feeling by @gh0stzonedarchive || 2k One-shot. A nice nonbinary Danny coming out story.
Unpacking ALL of THAT. by @kawaiijohn || 6k One-shot. A nice story about Paulina saving Danny and then having a conversation while trapped in a box. It features trans (and bi) Danny and lesbian Paulina.
making it through by @robotbeowulf || 2k One-shot. A sweet story where Mr. Lancer helps Phantom and also comes out as trans to him.
Closet Space by @ecto-american || 2k One-shot. A sweet story where Danny and Sam are both trans and swap clothes.
oh, simple thing (breathing such harsh air) by Possiblyenjoyable || 3k One-shot. A really good story where Vlad may be a villain, but at least he's not transphobic.
Multichapter and Series
A Lot To Learn by @vampyra142001 || 21k Incomplete series. A nice Vlad redemption story. I really like how Danny being trans is incorporated into the story. Plus Vlad is ace.
Friends in Strange Places by @sunnys567 || 100k Complete multi-chap. This AU is really good and I love that Danny's friends learn about their own identities during Vlad's "coming out" trip.
Lightning by @tourettesdog || 21k Incomplete multi-chap. This is one of my favorite No One Knows AU stories and one of the few fics I can think of from Sam's POV. It features the iconic line: “Phantom’s trans— what an icon.” TourettesDog has several other fics with trans Danny that I like too, including Phantom at Pride.
Cognitive Dissonance by @secretly-an-automaton || 9k Complete multi-chap. A super sweet Gray Ghost revelation story! Danny being trans is a part of the reveal, which I think is a cool concept.
the haunting murders of bristol mansion by @antelabbitsghost || 8k Complete multi-chap. A really funny Buzzfeed Unsolved inspired story. Featuring Danny calling it transphobic when furniture falls on him lol.
Casper High’s New Nurse by @thewiltingdaisy || 55k Complete multi-chap. This story features one of my favorite tropes- an OC adult who helps struggling children with their problems. Danny is trans and the OC nurse character is nonbinary, which is cool!
Food as a Love Language by GooseJacket || 13k Incomplete series. Another fic where Danny and Vlad are both trans (and pan), which I appreciate despite it not coming up in the story much. I really love Danny and Kyle’s relationship in it though; they’re really cute together.
Mundane to Monstrous Ghost by @goliath-de-senfina-sango || 75k Complete multi-chap (part of an incomplete series, but ends in a nice place). This canon rewrite is really cool! Danny uses a wish from Desiree to magically transition, which is amazing.
DPxDC
Unearthed, Reborn by @queenofthequillandink || 62k Incomplete multi-chap. An amazing story featuring soft Eternal Trio with Jason as their teen half ghost son. In addition to Danny being trans, Dick Grayson also transes their gender. Plus there are trans puns!
Rooftop Express by @cheezygoddess || 89k Incomplete multi-chap. A really good Dead on Main story featuring trans Danny and trans Jason.
Wanted: Dead and Alive by @aster-draws || 121k Complete multi-chap. A very angsty vivisection fic with a happy ending. Danny is both trans and intersex. And of course, the GIW are transphobic.
Unlimited Love by @oliveofvanders || 10k Incomplete series. Some nice one-shots featuring trans Danny and the Death Defying (Danny/Dick) ship. I especially like the second fic about the pride parade.
Of All the Things My Hands Have Held by @disillusioneddanny || 17k Complete multi-chap. A cute Dead Serious story where Danny and Damian raise a baby together. I think it's funny that Talia gives them the baby partly because she doesn't know Danny is trans. DisillusionedDanny actually has a bunch of really good fics with trans Danny, including Eat The Acid and Love Like You.
Phantom in Gotham by @artemismoorea03 || 320k Incomplete series. This series is incredible! Poor Danny has to deal with some upsetting situations, but everyone in the Batfam who learns that Danny is trans is supportive which is sweet.
Liminal Familiarity by @isitcowboytimes || 70k Incomplete multi-chap. A nice angsty AU where Danny helps Jason after he becomes half ghost. There's a scene where Danny transforms back to human after being only Phantom for a while and he gets hit with gender dysphoria and being human dysphoria at the same time, oof.
Stalking Astronauts: Gotham's Latest Social Media Craze! by @tachvintlogic || 54k Complete multi-chap. This is a really interesting twist on the usual DPxDC adoption trope where Danny is afraid of being adopted, and he doesn't need to be because he's an adult and a successful astronaut. Unfortunately because of his facial masculinization surgery, everyone thinks he looks a Wayne.
Barely Surviving in a World Antithetical to My Existence by DomesticatedOpossum and Vampirenote13 || 67k Incomplete multi-chap. Danny gets isekaied to Gotham and helped by Constantine and the bats eventually. I like that both Danny and Tim are trans in this.
Better Halves (and other such falsehoods) by @astereaes || 132k Incomplete multi-chap. An amazing fake relationship Danny/Tim story! Tim doesn't know that Danny is trans for a while but he also doesn't know a lot of things about Danny lol.
I'll be updating this list as I read/remember other cool trans Danny fics, so feel free to send recs or promote your own fics! Last updated: 9/16/24.

YOU’RE WRITING A NOVEL????? Can I hear about it.
it's pseudo-historical fiction set in a made up version of 1880s-1920s eurasia examining the development of imperialism in this era + industrialization + the rise of communism. this is done primarily through the lens of a boy who was born a literal bear and violently forced into the role of a human prince of one of the imperial powers as part of the colonization of his homeland, is woefully mistreated by everyone and used as a pawn and so he becomes a class traitor (positive) and joins the revolution in his homeland and then marries this world's version of lenin who is a mongolian trans woman who can form soul bonds with animals & merge consciousness with them 🫶🏼 its both an examination of these various historical-material forces and a love story at its heart.
they are lifelong friends and her story weaves in and out of his until finally coming together as they transition from being revolutionaries to building a socialist state, and i'm exploring how as they fall in love and their senses of self tangle and merge the limited third person pov expands to include her awareness. in this version of the world my "lenin" (she is not literally lenin, i'm taking inspiration from several historical figures for her, but her role in the history of this world is effectively that of lenin) lives far longer than 1924
the main regions/locations of focus are the eurasian steppe, the ottoman empire, and the british empire, with the russian empire and late qing china/warlord era roc as peripheries - albeit fantasy equivalents of all of the above as i'm taking liberties with some things lol. but i have been doing a lot of historical research on all of the above and having a great time with it. in this version of the world the first socialist state is not in russia but elsewhere in the steppe, and so i'm examining the material conditions that could have caused that to happen and forming the world around that + playing with the political economies of these made up countries
some things i'm exploring through the main characters' personal narratives issues like gender and sexuality including intersexism, class struggle and the role of the state in revolution and what is required not only to start a communist revolution but to maintain it against counter-revolutionary forces, the collapse of monarchism and how the world reached the crisis of imperialism that was ww1, anti-communist nationalism in the early 20th century, childhood abuse and the manufactured powerlessness of childhood as an allegory for being an imperialized subject, imperial and class collaboration vs resistance, and a bunch of other things. it spans 40 years of their lives so there's a lot to cover and many 'periods' of their lives
the world is heavily set in reality with only minor fantastical elements that fly under the radar, like the main character having been born a bear is not really the point of the story but exists to aid the themes. in this world the fact that sometimes animals can turn into humans and humans can share consciousness with other forms of life exists very much in the background. a lot of the story is focused on character development and the personal relationships between characters, set while all of the above is happening. balancing all of this and writing it in a way that the entire thing doesn't feel like a fever dream or a textbook is my ongoing struggle that i am sincerely enjoying
#should go without saying i take an explicitly pro communist stance so the state building part is not a tragedy#i could ramble for a long time ive been writing this for years its just finally taking a solid shape where i feel comfortable talking abt i#oh i forgot to mention theres a subplot about anticolonial struggle in british east africa w a major character involved in that#im all over the place#everythings connected

Fia, are you also tired of all of this? Because I really am. Tired of these games. Tired of A. Tired of JD. When I started shipping Nic and Luke I assumed if they ever got together they would maybe keep it a secret or private but not this.
I think so many shippers are tired, esp. ones who have been here since the WT last year but even newer ones are over it.
I was thinking when my partner said "another event, shocker" for N yesterday, how it may have seemed insensitive to some but I truly get it... N appeared again w/ out L; other celeb couples who claimed " just friends" at least appeared together regularly. Secret is different than private, and there has been no benefit to Lukola's secrecy as it's given no privacy. *sigh* That's how we know (amongst other reasons) this wasn't a choice but rather an obligation, and as Legal Anon pointed out, the law often takes it's good 'ole sweet time, esp. in civil matters. *sigh*.
Anyhow, I did want to point out that JD has never been quiet about being gay as far as I'm concerned and w/ him helping as a decoy for L, N likely feels indebted. Her repost of his upcoming series helps his algorithm and visibility, I'm sure. It's a trans coming of age story in case anyone didn't pick up on that lol, and JD plays the bad boy who seduces the main character. Ultimately, I hope the adjacent narrative transitions from romantic partners - to young friends they've been helping out in the industry soon!
Sorry I know you're tired of him, Anon 🤦♂️ (Interesting that it's from the producers of "Mary and George" that DB was in...)

With June being a confirmed part of beyond canon, do you think it’s still possible that other characters (Dave) could be trans women in canon?
well, first off, there already are other trans women confirmed in Beyond Canon — Vriska is also trans. not only that, but if you pay close attention to Calliope & Roxy’s coming out scene, Calliope basically talks about changing back to gender neutrality, and that this was their original state before transitioning to womanhood. In other words, Callie has destransitioned! and in other other words, the Dead Cherub is also a trans girl, because she’s still a girl as far as i can tell.
even forgetting that, it is my genuine belief that the Homestuck Independent Creative Union intends to follow through this old tweet of Andrew’s —

and they are likely trying to write a continuation of homestuck with the express goal of taking this to the next logical conclusion: a trans singularity.
HSBC is all about out with the old, in with the new. change, uncomfortable, unstoppable change. the way this generation’s queer kids are tooootally different to the last’s (and how they’re not, too).
and there are PLENTY of repressed boys who hate/feel limited by masculinity in the main cast. watch this space.
also my money is on Yiffy already being transfem. 😗✌️

Seafoam, charcoal
charcoal: you have the best takes seafoam: to understand what the fuck is wrong with you
well, i beg your pardon, but i think i've made what the fuck is wrong with me fairly clear over the last several months. on account of the posting.
#^^ is in an untenable unmedicated adhd/disabled slump and has an animal urge to be the property of someone who will put me to proper work#and is recovering from like 10 years of stretching myself too thin for the sake of other people and going to therapy#and due to insurance issues i'm having trouble getting hormones and psychological medication that won't destroy my bank account#which makes for great poetry and terrible experience#someone made a vn that picks apart and eroticizes the concept of being useful to other people and how it relates to grief and stasis#and one of the main characters is a transmasc-coded hypnosub dilf who swore allegiance to a confident trans woman who is now god#and now i can't decide if he's goals in the sense of “this is the energy i want to give off post-transition” sense#or the “i want to strap him so bad it makes me look stupid” sense

Trans Reights Readathlon Recommendations
I am not participating in the actual event, because I have my own reading schedule to follow, but for those who are still looking for books, here is a list of my favorite trans books!
The Margin Street Zeroes series by Robin Banks: Nonbinary first person narrator, in a relationship with another nonbinary person. The story is about a group of university students and their struggles with life and literal gods.
Space Cadets and The Repossessed by Robin Banks are both part of the Heinlein's Finches series, but all books can be read as stand-alones. Set in a capitalist dystopia, both books explore different parts of the aftermath of the massacre on a space colony: Space Cadets follows a small group of cadets who are left alone with a spaceship, and need to figure out what to do with it. The main character and first-person narrator is a trans man. The Repossessed follows a different group of people, who are going from space station to space statin, looking for the lost children of that colony. One of the secondary characters is an intersex trans man (assigned female at birth, had to transition to live as a man).
Andrew Joseph White has written three transgender horror books: The Spirit Bares its Teeth is set in an alternate history Victorian setting, and follows a trans boy who is sent to a school "correcting" girls who don't confirm to society's expectations of womanhood. Compound Fracture is following a young trans man, who is about to enter the generational feud between his family and the family of the sheriff who executed his great-great-grandfather during the miners' revolts in the 1920s. Hell Followed With Us is the one I haven't read yet, but I have absolute faith in this author. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and the main character is a young trans man who is on the run from a religious cult.
Tell Me How It Ends by Quinton Li is the story of a young Tarot reader, who gets recruited by a nonbinary person to break their friend out from prison. It was the first (and so far, only) fantasy novel I have read so far where introducing yourself with your pronouns is the norm. As I said, nonbinary secondary character.
The Hears of Heroes series by Molly J. Bragg is a superhero series, with each book the origin story of a different hero, so you can read them out of order. Transistor is a trans woman who gets her superpowers via gender-affirming surgery gone wrong, and needs to fight a rogue angel to protect her girlfriend. Rhapsody is a trans woman who gets superpowers when criminal kidnap and experiment on her, and she is framed for the murder of another hero, which sets both the Police and the superheroes on her trail.
The Black Trans Fairy Tales series by S.T. Lynn is a series of three novellas based on three Disney movies, the protagonist always being a Black trans woman.
No Man of Woman Born by Ana Mardoll is a collection of short stories of people defeating prophecies via he power of genders that don't match the exact texts.
Baker Thief by Claudie Arsenault is about a Police officer who chases a notorious thief. Said thief is genderfluid, and uses this as a means of disguise.
Bonus, for those who are a bit more adventurous: Le Roman de Silence by master Heldris de Cornouailles. It's a medieval text about a knight who was born female but raised as a man. Tumblr user @queer-ragnelle has a copy of it as part of their Arthurian Preservation Project. I'm quite sure that retellings for more modern audiences also exist, I only haven't looked into them yet.
#trans rights readathlon#as far as reading fiction can support trans rights of course...#Silence is great because it shows that the 'what is gender' debate has been happening in the past too#the others are I believe all written by trans authors?#I'd need to check and I'm too lazy#anyway you would be supporting an existing person by reading those books#masterlist#books#trans books#trans representation

I'll play the 500-word ask game! Your Tortall fanfic, please - I was thinking of this segment, but really anything you want to comment on in the fic! (Also thank you for writing it; the voice works very well and the text feels very true-to-source!)
Kel may never have forgiven the king for putting her through a probation period—a life’s first major disappointment cuts deep and leaves a scar—but her issues to him as a man did not blind her to his success as a king. “He’s formed alliances with the Bazhir, the Yamani, and Tusaine for the first time in our history. He controls the Dominion Jewel, the most powerful mage in the world is loyal to him, and our training school produces the finest knights in the world.”
Don’t forget our excellent spy operations,” Alanna added. “But people’s memories get short, especially in times of hardship. A short war unites a nation; a long one wearies it. And our war with Scanra has lasted far longer than we expected, even after your contribution.”
Kel grimaced. It was true. Even after Kel had slain the creator of the Scanran war machines, the forces of King Maggur fought bitterly for every inch of land. They had no reasonable hope of winning, not with Scanra’s weak harvest and weaker tribal alliances, but they were determined to make Tortall’s victory costly. They’d turned to guerilla tactics in the mountainous border region between the two nations, and they were willing to lay down their lives for every square inch.
Still, the gaudiness of the Midwinter’s Festival felt tasteless to Kel, a slap in the face to the soldiers who died and the ones who were still there fighting in the bleakest of conditions. “If everyone could put some trust in each other and go without the things they don’t need, we could redirect all this wealth to ending the war.”
“If people could trust each other and go without, we wouldn’t be fighting this war. We’d be living in some happy utopia that would be very boring for people like you and me.”
Oh my god, I wrote this Tortall fic in 2011. Sometimes the passage of time just hits. Especially because of the time I remember Kel has always been my favorite of Pierce's leads. It would be difficult to overstate the impact Kel as a character has had on me over the years. I wrote this fic in October 2011--that was during my first semester of college, when I was 18 years old. I'd brought The Protector of the Small books with me to college for emotional support. There was a hurricane on the east coast during our freshman orientation that knocked out the power in my dorm. I remember reading all four books by a window while it was raining like crazy, and then thinking ruefully that I should have saved them for later when I needed a pick me up.
That makes it an extra pleasant surprise when I reread it and really liked it! (I even had the very odd feeling of being inspired by my own ending.) I remembered the broad strokes of it--Kel and Alanna talking at a banquet while on the lookout for Tortall's second openly female page--and absolutely none of the details. I can't believe the only relationship tag I had in there was Kel/Dom. I'll be honest, I don't even really remember who Dom is. I went back and added Kel & Alanna as the main relationship because, like, duh. Yeah.
It's doubly weird to me I tagged the barely mentioned romantic pairing considering the story was written for a livejournal community challenge to specific write gen fic about women outside of the context of romance and shipping. This was a weird transition time in fandom where lj communities were still very prominent, but more and more fic was getting posted on AO3 instead of in a community or on a personal journal. I remember some debate about what female characters counted for femgenficathon (the community/challenge I wrote this for). It might have been a debate about trans women, but I remember more specifically discussions of whether genderswapped male characters counted.
Anyway, back to this fic specifically, it's funny the author's note is me talking about the difficulties of writing fanfic for a book because I want to match the author's style when that's something that I've been thinking about a lot lately writing for Scum Villain. What I remember most about this fic is specifically the work I put in studying Tamora Pierce's writing style so I could ape it. A sentence early--"Her closest tablemate, a small but sturdy red-headed woman Kel regarded with equal parts affection and awe, chuckled at Kel’s distress."--is the direct result of me studying Pierce's first paragraphs in her work to see how she reintroduces the reader to characters they have met before. There's also a simplicity and directness to the language that isn't my default. I can get pretty flowery. In my default state, I love a paragraph long metaphor.
These two women have this shared experience but also could not be more different. When I was a kid, I really wanted Alanna and Kel to be best friends, and I was disappointed when they weren't, but I understood why. They are very different people, almost in different genres. Alanna and Kel are two very different takes on the lady knight. Having to pretend to be a boy versus openly being a girl leads to such different dynamics. Alanna's story is so much about identity and self-definition, but also about being extraordinary. She's gifted with magic, she's touched by the goddess, she has a magic cat. She's a fantasy heroine. She's indisputably extraordinary.
Kel meanwhile has no magic. Her story emphasizes continual, endless practice, discipline, training. Her adventures are human-sized. Alanna's book one ends with defeating magical monsters in a cursed city. Kel's involves helping a bunch of other pages fight off bandits. She doesn't deal with gods; she gets put in charge of a refuge camp. Her story involves a lot of practical logistics in a way Alanna's doesn't. So she ends up being this character that's such a mix of realism and idealism, seeing the world the way it could and should be while also seeing the work and frustration of getting there. That was what made her such a huge inspiration to me as a kid--god, between her and Tiffany Aching, I have gotten so much from the tales of hard working girls.
That's why Kel in this fic looks to everyday and mundane examples of female fighters. Because she works so close to the ground, she appreciates the grassroots. I thought that hit a good balance of her faith in the future without making it sound like she thought gender equality would be easy. Actually, to be honest, I got...comforted, I guess, by my own ending. (Again, a very pleasant surprise.) Kel's hope always feels earned. That's what I was aiming for.
#man i completely forgot i wrote this fic#blast from the freakin past#long post#b.#my fic#i should reread the protector of the small series it's been like five years#keladry of mindelan#alanna of trebond#protector of the small

Hiya! I’m Bree! I’m a trans-pan foxgirl that hangs out on the internet doin gay stuff! My blog is primarily a random/personal blog, with no real theme other than my love for women and being transfem :3
Here’s a lil’ bit of personal info for y’all to get to know who I am a bit better!
I’m a trans woman! I found out who I was in 2017, and through a slow and gradual process I eventually socially transitioned. I’ve been on hormones since 2023!! I also legally changed my name and sex in 2024 as well, so things are going awesome in that front.
Despite my general affinity and attraction to women, I am pansexual, which means yes, I find just about any one of any gender attractive, I just have a preference towards women.
I have a partner that I love dearly and more than anything in the world. We have a very special and unique bond together and I love them very much. They’ve been in my life shortly after I discovered I was trans, and we’ve been practically married for years now <3
I’m a proud foxgirl/puppygirl mix!!! I’m very whiny and needy, and I will bark and make various creature noises at you, so be prepared for that >:3
I don’t really have that much shame about my kinks. This is an 18+ blog so obviously expect adult content.
I have a few hobbies, including playin vidya games. I play a lotta random things, but one of my favorites is Cyberpunk 2077. I also tend to play a lot of survival horror and just survival games in general. Big Resident Evil nerd and Project Zomboid enjoyer. Also very into Fnaf and Cod zombies lore… please ask because I will loredump. In general I just like video games, and am open to try just about anything!!
I’m not the biggest into movies or tv, but I’ve seen my fair share of the popular stuff. Jurassic Park is my all time favorite movie. I’m a big horror movie junkie, Saw, The Thing, and Alien being some of my faves. Arcane Season 1 and She-Ra are also amazing tv shows, which I highly recommend to just about anyone.
I have a few genres of music I’m in love with. I grew up listening to rock/metal and it stuck ever since. Huge A7X fan (minus their nft shilling :/), and Halestorm enjoyer. I also am in love with grunge, Chris Cornell (rip) and Eddie Vedder you have my heart.
I also love making OC’s! I’ve been writing since I was like, 8 years old, and making characters has always been a passion of mine. Lilith and Tara are my main OC’s, and I’ve been creating a large and expansive worldstate involving them and many other characters over the past few years. Please ask me about them and I will give you the loredump!
Pirates are an actual special interest of mine, hence the name. I think the irl history is very interesting, and romanticized pirate media is always fun. I’m always open to learning more, cause being educated is fun!! So please feel free to tell me pirate fun facts and jokes!
uhhhh i think that’s it! I hope y’all like my blog of random gayness and silliness! My dm’s are always open if you have a question or just wanna chat! Love y’all 💙🏳️⚧️
