We all know the semi-canonical ‘all the Robins know to hide/duck inside of Batman’s cape, even as adults’ thing.

We also know that Danny ‘is LITERALLY a ghost’ Fenton sucks at remembering his own intangibility while ALSO forgetting to look ahead of him.

All I’m saying is, Danny Fenton (or Phantom, if you’d really like) would absolutely SLAM into Batman on accident while running on roof tops and Bruce ‘Brooding Instinct’ Wayne doesn’t even think twice about letting the kid hide and scanning around for danger before there’s a record scratch of ‘wait who tf is this?’ kicks in.

#garry's mod #gmod #source engine #half life 2 #sandbox #hearted #a car in the parking lot. no evident signs of life aside from your presence. the lights and heating in here are on. external doors locked #some stores are still in states of occupation but clearly none of them are actually doing business anymore #where are you? why are you here?#maybe you're in a weird vestigial janitor's position— showing up to move odds and ends out and make sure no one's broken in #maybe just a very boring security job for the last couple weeks #maybe (and this is a stretch) you work in the diner downstairs that still seems to be at least *approaching* functional?#most appealing idea to me is just being someone walking home from work/school and finding one of the front doors left propped open #you stop in and can't help but wander the still-furnished stores and marvel at the stillness #there's a threatening feeling when these liminal maps block or lock exit doors that feels very obvious and it's not entirely missing here #but it doesn't feel like very *present* danger? i can't help but compare it to sneaking through an abandoned building #you're not really in any danger aside from maybe getting told off by a security guard who probably doesn't care #but this map inspires way more positive comfy feelings in me than it does any fear. it's a callback to the urbexing teen years i didn't hav #and a reminder of just how much dead retail space now pockmarks my neck of the woods

My biggest fear (exaggerated) as a neurodivergent person is someone else asking my what my hyperfixation is because like. my options are either infodumping to them about four British improv comedians or infodumping to them about how the ao3 tagging system works, and neither sound very appealing.

there's a secret world of beautiful human interaction that opens up when you're a delivery driver who's nice to restaurant workers. two days ago a lady at a donut shop gave me a free donut and coffee for breakfast because i was a doordasher picking up an enormous order at six in the morning. an old man in a hotel lobby at 2 AM fervently told me "be safe out there" as i was leaving. the same happened with a guy working at a 24-hour mexican place at 3 AM. (i imagine being a woman-thing doing deliveries in the middle of the night worries people.) sometimes i tell mcdonalds workers, "it's okay, take your time," and they'll wilt with relief like "girl. you will not BELIEVE the night we're having." i talked to another doordasher while we were waiting to pick up orders from a fast food chain and he showed me some ridiculous messages from his last customer like "can you Believe this lady. UNREAL." i feel like a character in a video game who knows all the secret thieves cant nonsense to speak to people in the criminal underworld, except it's just like. knowing all the words that suddenly turn off the customer service persona in the NPCs.

#they morph from NPCs to fellow PCs right before your eyes.#i hear restaurant workers talk about entitled and mean doordashers all the time and i'm like. why would you do that.#just be nice. for god's sake. it makes life so much better.#i'm never nice in video games because niceness in stories bores me. but in real life??#i am hitting ALLLL those friendly complimentary and sweet dialogue options. every late night worker everywhere is my bestie now.#delivery antics
