and the “try as you might, you continue to be yourself” is from when you get a second red flag in Ball Game in undertale ! thought it’d be ironic since. theyre kinda not acting like themself since they don’t have the SOUL anymore. not that they even really know who they were without it

I promise you that you will not get arrested for changing your mind y'all. You can GROW and and rethink some of your past actions! Its normal, it happens. Easier said than done but you really don't need to publicly shame yourself for thinking a certain way. I get how internet culture has us overexplaining literally anything we do but you owe no one but yourself justification. It's okay to breathe and say yeah that probably wasn't a great way to think, change and move on 😭

Its so easy to go down the rabbit hole and turn a growing moment to a "I'm a horrible no good human being that deserves the worst things imaginable". Not saying that you're exempt from taking responsibility for your actions if they harmed other people but there are other ways of going about it that don't involve beating yourself up.

There's a post going around and I'm not gonna speak on it, but some people who really aren't the target audience are taking the brunt of it all and rethinking themselves as a human and I'm there like oh! That post really wasn't calling you out but okay! That's okay. We realized we need to change some things but it doesn't mean you're a terrible human. And these are literal sweethearts who keep to themselves panicking cause they thought they did something wrong. TRUST me the people that particular post is calling out is not about you. The fact that you're self reflecting is a huge sign you're not like that i promise you. Be kinder to yourselves y'all

Started writing a fic back in early October and had to abandon it for a while due to IRL situations. But I've started working on it again little by little, and I am so excited to eventually share it with my mutuals and followers. I hope you guys enjoy it (I am trying my best to get it done)!

TBH my only motivation anymore is thinking about my friends having a good time reading it when it's finally posted (I love all of you very much). I cannot wait for all of these ideas to be fleshed-out on paper at last.

Over 16,000 words and I am nowhere near satisfied yet. I feel like I can write WAY more. Stay tuned!

OHH WHERE DO I EVEN *BEGIN*!

First and foremost, just how *real* the characters feel. They have complex personalities, doubts, fears, concerns they don't show out loud. Every little bit you find out about them expands on this view. They even have conversations when you're not present! You can hear some of it during bathroom breaks.

Second and also just as huge is the worldbuilding. It's not shoved in your face either, just given to you naturally as you progress which is huge!! Characters of different regions have different beliefs, customs and religions. Even their own gastronomy! I won't go too far into detail to not spoil much for you, but I still adore it.

Third the love for detail. I just can't say enough how much I love that there are sooo many tidbits that change with each loop. The most obvious are your (Siffrin's) reactions as the time loops progress and you learn (and lose it). But it's not just that! Characters will have different responses based on the slightest changes, some events will vary completely and you are given so much freedom over how much you explore of them, too!

Even now during my second full in-depth playthrough I'm finding new interactions to lose my mind over.

There is much more, like just how much I love the characters and how I wish I could hug them because they are some of my favorite characterizations in the world, but at this point it'll turn into purely incoherent rambling and me crying about just how much I love this game.

I don’t know if the Erin’s are romanticizing abuse, don’t realize they’re writing it, or both because this is genuinely getting concerning

They’ve written how many abusive husbands and then said that those husbands are actually great people who deserve everything?

Well, let's apply Occam's Razor. Which of these makes the most sense;

The writing team has accidentally written at least 3 (more like 5) realistic depictions of domestic abuse, and just happen to be consistently more sympathetic to the men in the relationships, and find that romantic involvement makes a character humanizing in general Or

The writing team has a warped perception of what healthy love is supposed to look like, and think that the behaviors they depict are normal and just part of relationships.

I think the phrase "romanticizing abuse" is kind of unhelpful tbh, because it's not totally accurate. Most people believe they're doing the right thing. It's not likely that they KNOW what they're doing is destructive, and are secretly twirling an evil mustache as they write it into a teenage cat book series in the hopes of making more victims.

It's not entirely romanticism/glorification, it's deeper. It's the idea that these behaviors are normal, understandable, and they as writers either a total disinterest in the internal lives of the victims (Turtle, Bumble) or the desire to "explore" the relationship as if both sides are on equal footing/mutually toxic (Squilf)

And Tom... Tom's redemption ties into the narrative about blood that DOTC tells. It says that having children produces a goodness in men, and biological connection (even to people you don't know) is an intrinsic, sometimes tragic fact of life. The only time Tom ever does something that wasn't actively malicious was saving his daughter, Sparrow Fur.

For that, and that alone, he is redeemed. And thus deserves a cutesy reward in his afterlife.

…actually, yeah, I am saying that. but here’s the kicker.

i wasn’t the gifted kid. I was the average one.

i get that gifted kid culture wasn’t good for the gifted kids, but geez, I can’t be the only one out there who WASN’T gifted and was still hurt by the system and is still dealing with emotional and psychological fallout.

can we start recognizing the impact gifted kid culture had on the non-gifted kids too?
