Weird anecdote about myself that I just remembered today for no reason. So basically, my grandma is a huge animal person, less nowdays that she is older and helps my aunt with my youngest cousin butnshe still feeds strays and had a lot of pets during her life.
So the first pet I remember her having was a dog. He was a big dog that likely was abused before, a rotweiller mixed with something we had no idea what. And we could not get close to it. Grandma would look him in the backyard when we were there or take him for walks when we wanted to play with the trees and later the elderly turtles she somehow acquired (they were so old and huge, they died of old age!! As turtles!! Cause grandma just got them very very old for some reason).
Than one day he wasn't there. And when asked she told us he got send to a farm. Now I was really young so I promptly belived her and only years later around the time she did the same thing when one of her cats died (they were never really hers, they came with the house and after she moved the other cat stayed because he just couldn't be separated from it and my grandma decided it was cruel and she would only sell the house for someone that would take care of the cat).
So normal story right.
Except my grandma's sister actually has a farm. Or more specifically her rich husband has a farm and one day some ten-ish years later we go visit them there. So I was five when Campeão- the dog - disappeared. And I was fifteen/fourteen when this happened. That's to say my first instinct after seing a dog that was eerly similar to Campeão was "nope, it's just the same type of dog". Except Campeão was born without a tail, it was why his first owner gave him away and why my grandma decided to call him Champeon because he was a damm good fighter anyway. And that dog had no tail. Way to young to be Campeão but the detail made me curious enough to ask.
Soo Campeão WAS actually genuinally send to a farm. My aunt-grandma's husband wanted a dog to protect the farm and my grandma felt bad over having the dog locked all the time because of the constant presence of small childrem visiting her and felt like a farm would be great for him.
The dog I saw ten years later was one of three that lived in the farm, all Campeão's and a street female dog that just kinda lived there at the time pups and one of them had been born with the same disability as his dad.
He had by the time I discovered it actually died. But he apparently had a long and happy life on a farm where he was loved, taken care of and had a lot of place to run and play. And also was a good guard dog. My grandma even visited him even if not a lot. He had a family that was also loved and taken cared of!
Remembering it always makes me happy! So I decided to share. Surprisingly sometimes the dog actually goes to a real farm.
