Simi!
And again it’s dramatic hurt and angst (kinda) but they are happy (but bruised) in the end I promise.
I wrote this at 4am and haven’t proofread it but I’m sharing it anyway bc I love y’all.
Hope you enjoy my mindless drabbles!
And quick disclaimer: this Drabble contains depictions of a crash and light wounds. The content is purely fictional and this crash did not happen irl
It happened so quickly. Kimi doesn’t even remember stopping his car. He still feels how his heart stopped when he ran towards the crash. As he was sitting in the hospital he looked down at his bandaged arms before leaning back against the wall with a deep sigh. The events that had happened only a few hours ago replaying behind closed eyes:
Approaching the upcoming turn, Kimi saw Sebastian's car twitch violently, the rear tires losing grip on the unforgiving asphalt. The Ferrari spun out of control, veering sharply and slamming into the barriers with a deafening crash.
Time seemed to slow as Kimi's heart lurched in his chest. His breath caught, his pulse thundering in his ears. The sickening sound of metal crunching and the sight of Sebastian's car crumpling like a soda can filled him with a dread he had never known. His instincts took over, and he eased off the accelerator, his mind solely focused on his best friend.
"Kimi, maintain your position! Are you hearing us? Maintain position!" A voice barked over the radio, but Kimi barely registered it. He pulled his car to the side of the track, ignoring the frantic commands blaring in his ear.
Fear and adrenaline coursing through his veins, Kimi vaulted out of his cockpit and sprinted towards the crash site. The acrid smell of burning rubber and the sight of the smoking wreckage fueled his desperation. He pushed past marshals and safety personnel, his usually calm demeanor shattered by raw panic.
"Sebastian! Seb!" Kimi shouted, his voice strained with fear. He reached the car, the twisted metal and shattered carbon fiber a horrific sight. The medics were trying to extract Sebastian, but Kimi couldn't stand by and watch. Without wasting any more time on useless thoughts, he dove in, heedless of the jagged debris that tore at his suit and skin.
Ignoring the searing pain in his arm where a piece of sharp metal had gouged him, Kimi focused on freeing Sebastian. He grabbed the edge of the cockpit, his hands slipping on the slick surface as he pulled with all his strength.
"Seb, can you hear me? Stay with me!" Kimi's voice cracked with emotion, his vision blurring as sweat and tears mingled on his face. He could see Sebastian's eyes flicker behind his visor, a small, dazed movement that gave Kimi the strength to keep going.
Suddenly, flames erupted from the rear of the car, licking hungrily at the exposed fuel lines. The sight of the fire caused his breathing to stop and despite the growing heat Kimi’s body went cold with fear. Sharp edges of broken carbon fiber and metal cutting through his gloves and skin. Kimi’s hands, now bloodied and trembling, fumbled with the buckles and straps of Sebastian’s harness.
He pulled with all his might, finally yanking Sebastian free from the smoldering wreckage. With a final, adrenaline-fueled burst of energy, he dragged Sebastian away from the car, just as the fire engulfed it completely.
As safety crews finally extinguished the flames and lifted Sebastian onto the stretcher, Kimi’s vision blurred from exhaustion and pain as he collapsed to his knees, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Blood trickled down his arm, the pain a distant echo compared to the relief flooding his system.
"Kimi, there is a second ambulance arriving shortly for you but we need to get Sebastian to the hospital right now” one of the medics said firmly, but Kimi shook his head, his bloody hand clutching Sebastian's gloved fingers.
"I'm coming with you, I’m not leaving him" Kimi insisted, his voice a determined rasp. The medics relented, allowing him to sit beside the stretcher as they hurried to the hospital simply because they couldn’t waste any time.
Inside the hospital, the chaos of the track seemed a world away. Kimi hovered near Sebastian, his injured arm throbbing but his attention solely on his teammate. He watched as the medics assessed Sebastian, telling doctors to fuck off and concentrate on Seb whenever they tried to assess Kimi’s wounds as well.
The tension in his body slowly easing as they confirmed that Sebastian was shaken and bruised but largely unhurt. Only then he allowed the doctors to treat his cuts as well.
Sebastian turned his head, his eyes finding Kimi's. "You look worse than I do," he murmured, a weak smile playing on his lips.
Kimi let out a shaky breath, a smile of his own breaking through the worry. "Just making sure you’re okay, Seb" he replied, his voice thick with relief.
In that moment, surrounded by the beeping monitors and hushed activity of the medical team, Kimi Räikkönen, the unflappable Iceman, felt the warmth of his emotions thaw his usual reserve. He had risked everything to be there for Sebastian, and as he held Sebastian’s hand, he knew he would do it again in a heartbeat.

So there's a post I've seen where its a screenshot of someone's author notes on a fic and it says:
Can't a guy get fucked by his best friend for fic research without judgement these days?
And, of course, my mind immediately jumped straight to Harringrove. Modern day Harringrove or those very early fanfic forum 80s days where Steve is a popular fanfiction or even just general fiction/fantasy author online, Billy is his long-suffering best friend or frenemy, and also sort of Steve's lab rat for his smut scenes.
And its no hardship. Not really. Billy might huff and complain sometimes but he's getting the best, most consistent sex of his life, even if its kind of fucking weird sometimes, and he's a little bit in love with Steve so of course, there's that facet.
And yeah, sometimes it means he gets ice up his ass instead of Steve. Or it means he's gotta sit with cum sliding down his face for twenty minutes while Steve alternates between tapping furiously away at his keyboard and staring at him critically. And sometimes its coming over expecting to get fucked and actually just laying on the bed bored outta his skull reading Cosmo while Steve gets lost in a sudden fit of inspiration at his desk, but.
Worth it.
Ooooh i say modern day, but Steve's big in fandom for a show that's set in the 80s 😉
Billy fully like, 'Ok, so I'm the crash-test dummy for his weird porn hobby. His porn-test dummy, if you will. I can live with that. Hey, Steve, can the characters try rope bondage?'
Meanwhile Steve is writing 300k 600k enemies-to-friends-to-lovers slowburn, and the prose has been getting progressively more desperately romantic, and the love interest's eyes inexplicably changed from hazel to blue like eight chapters ago... and also it's still VERY porny so yes, they can try rope bondage, Steve is already learning how to tie knots.
Billy's not in fandom at all though so he's got no idea (Steve also has no idea what's happening just because he's oblivious).

Finally done with 80% of my newest Owl House fan fic "Dream Among Destiny and Stars" I'm finally gonna update the first chapter either today or tomorrow. Just need to edit and write one more scene. But because I'm super excited and can't hold it in any longer! I'm gonna release this scene from the first chapter. It became a favorite of mine.
###
"Everyone gather around!" They all heard Raine announce. They held up a bouquet of flowers and announced "According to human culture, whoever catches this bouquet of flowers will have the best luck in love…."
Faster than Luz can blink, Hunter was gone and in the group of people. Raine turned their back to the group and waited a few seconds. Eda had her phone out, ready to record. The group consists of students from Hexside and Vee. All of them had determined faces.
"Ready?" Raine was unaware of the tragedy that was about to happen. The moment they threw the flowers, roars of voices filled the room followed by crashing sounds. They didn't even want to turn around to see what was happening. All they needed to see was Eda happily recording the event. Crash after crash, scream after scream, the moment lasted much longer than Raine anticipated.
"Grimwalker! You'll pay!" Bochas voice roared in anger. Raine gulped down when they noticed the room lit up from a fire ball. More screams followed.
"Put it out! Put it out!" Marry screamed as loud as she could. Sounds of clothes slamming against her could be heard.
"Puddles no!" Vineys cried out. Puddles was screeching so loud it nearly blew out the eardrums of anyone in a mile radius.
"Don't eat it!" Edric yelled. Raine squirmed from the sound of kids trying to force open the mouth of a Griffin.
"It's mine!" Boscha laughed before the sound of her being tackled was heard.
"I deserve it!" Skara cried out.
"You're already dating Viney! Let me have this!" Borcha angrily cried out. The two girls screamed, the sound of dresses ripping and hair ties snapping was all Raine could hear. Until another screech from Puddle filled the air. More lights lit up the room. Illusions sparked blue here and there. Fire illuminated red everywhere. The sound of potions being shattered open were followed by a bright yellow light. Raine didn't need to turn around, they could see it in the shadows.
"No!" Edmira sounded horrified. With the help of a red light, Rain saw Puddle's shadow throwing the flowers in the air.
"It's mine!" Amity somehow joined the squabble. Raine could hear multiple footsteps running away and out of the room. From a good distance, they heard nothing but the sound of footsteps running in circles. At long last, it stopped. The sound of chaos finally stopped and the lights dimmed down. Raine let out their breath that they didn't even know they were holding in. The group of kids sounded disappointed as a small splash was heard.
"Well, that's that." Gus sighed in disappointment. Only a few seconds passed until it was interrupted by running sounds. A loud splash caused the whole group to gasp loudly.
"OH MY TITAN!" The whole group screamed in terror.
"HUNTER!" The sound of a mortified Willow was enough to make Raine turn around. Everyone gathered outside and looked down at the ocean.

Super excited to upload this!!! Can't wait!!!
Summery of my story: Luz had it all. Friends, family and magic. She wouldn't ask for anything else, she couldn't. And now she had kids on the way! It was a dream come true, but even dreams turn to nightmares. For ten years she hasn't seen her friends or even her own wife. And she wanted nothing more than to reunite with them.
Ships: Luz and Amity. Raine and Eda. Hunter and Willow ( the one with the most angst). Gus and Mat. Happy Pride Month as well!!!

Tumblr media
“It’s hot.”
You’re draped across the old, yet still very plush couch, the kitschy pattern spread across it now fondly regarded as one of the things that transforms this dingy little place from a shoebox apartment into home. The thin spaghetti strap of your faded tie-dyed tank top from your old sorority days hangs limply off of your shoulder, threatening to fall even more when you slump over to the left. The simple drawstring shorts you have on barely cover your legs, but you contemplate tossing them off still because it’s just. So. Damn. Hot.
“It’s hot!” you whine even louder, throwing your arms up in the air before letting them flop down onto the cushions dramatically. The nearby open window only blows in a measly little breeze that does nothing except dry the sweat on your skin for a few glorious seconds before it reappears like a stubborn stain. Your boyfriend only raises an eyebrow at you from his spot on the floor, sprawled out in front of said window and using one of his Nylon magazines as a makeshift fan.
Taeyong agrees, flapping the glossy pages in front of his face desperately. “It’s too hot.”
Two days consisting of barely surviving the power outage creeps into a third, the prospect of having AC again anytime soon becoming extremely bleak. The transformer had completely blown out, and the electric company finally sent out a crew to fix it earlier this morning. The estimated restoration was initially set to noon, but it was pushed back until 3 p.m., then 6 p.m., then 10 p.m., then 5 a.m., and now the big black bolded letters spelling out “undetermined” mocks you from the screen of your phone that's already set to the lowest brightness setting to conserve battery.
To make it worse, your city was suffering a heat wave, temperatures spiking to 105 degrees Fahrenheit every single day and simmering down to 80 during the night before climbing the thermostat again. The raging thunderstorm that plagued last night only resulted in unexpected humidity, making your clothes stick to you like a second skin.
“Make it less hot,” you moan, blowing air upwards towards your forehead in an attempt to cool down in the slightest way possible.
“I can’t control the weather, babe, but I can get you a popsicle?” Taeyong sluggishly pushes himself into a sitting position to face you. The shiny magazine in his hand still flounders around until he gives up on it and tosses it aside.
You turn your head, cheek pressing into the couch cushion, as you squint at him. “We don’t have any left. We took all our food from the fridge to Doyoung’s place. I can’t believe that bastard has a gigantic generator and is flourishing in his stupid air conditioned apartment and making frozen sangrias, while his best friends are about to die from heatstroke.”
You had sent back a rather crass Snapchat back to Doyoung after he sent one earlier of his perfect, Instagram story worthy, iced alcoholic beverage. It’s honestly a miracle that he didn’t toss your beloved brown sugar boba ice cream bars out onto his pristine balcony with picture perfect potted plants to perish. That man can still hold onto a grudge even after he’s on his deathbed and descending into the fiery pits.
Taeyong stands up and slowly ambles towards the refrigerator. “I saved two popsicles in the freezer. I figured it’d stay cold enough and not melt if we ate them soon.”
“Oh my god, that’s the sexiest thing you’ve ever said to me.” You struggle to push yourself up into a sitting position before finally being able to, watching your boyfriend open the freezer and pull out the last two saving graces.
“Do you want blue raspberry or cherry?”
He holds out the two icy sweets in front of you, one in each hand. You already know that he secretly wants the red one; it’s been his favorite ever since he was five and tried his very first one from the ice cream truck that still comes around his parents’ neighborhood. But you also know that he always lets you choose first and wouldn’t complain if you take that one.
You reach out and pluck the blue one from his grasp, and he smiles happily, eyes crinkling in the corners as he eagerly unwraps the cherry flavored one and shoves it in his mouth, tossing the wrapper into the nearby wicker trash basket.
He drops down onto the empty space next to you, reclining back and slouching in his seat. The two of you sit there peacefully, side by side and enjoying the cold snacks, until he wordlessly slides over, pressing the side of his arm and leg against yours.
“Move back,” you complain, shoving him over to his original position. “It’s hot, and you’re making it worse.”
“So are you calling me hot?” Taeyong wriggles his eyebrows at you before taking a bite of his popsicle, much to your horror. He moves closer to you again for the sole sake of annoying you.
“First off, I’m calling you sweaty. Secondly, did you just bite your ice cream?” You throw him a dirty look before moving over and turning to sit with your back against the arm rest, throwing your legs over his lap.
Taeyong slightly pouts at you, munching on yet another chunk of his popsicle and ignoring the way you wrinkle your nose in disdain. “What’s wrong with that? It’s melting, and I don’t want it to drip and get my hand all sticky.”
You can’t believe that you just discovered your boyfriend is a psychopath. He’s going to the same circle of hell as people who pour milk in before cereal and those who hate mint chocolate chip ice cream once he leaves this earth (He can even say hi to Doyoung as he descends to eternal damnation).
“Why didn’t you say anything about this before we started dating?” You are absolutely appalled. Horrified. Disgusted. This is the biggest relationship deal breaker you have ever come across.
“Next, you’re gonna say you hate me because I don’t like pineapple on pizza,” he says as his free hand settles on the top of your thigh, gently tapping rhythmically against it absentmindedly.
“Oh my god, you absolute heathen.” You really thought Taeyong was the perfect man of your dreams, but you unfortunately realize belatedly that even he has flaws. Some inexcusable ones, in fact.
In the midst of your lamenting, you fail to notice melting sugar slowly trickling down until it leaves a sticky mess all over your hand. Desperately, you toss the empty popsicle stick into the nearby waste basket before licking off the remnants of your icy blue treat from your fingers.
“See? It melted all over you. I told you so,” Taeyong childishly sticks out his tongue as he waves his clean hand and empty popsicle stick around as if to emphasize his point.
“Your tongue’s red,” you say, chuckling slightly, and his eyes widen at this newfound revelation.
“Wait, stick out your tongue,” he demands as he throws away the wooden stick, and you comply with his request. He grins, delighted. “Yours is blue!”
He sticks out his tongue again, almost going cross eyed as he tries to catch a glimpse of his own. At that, your eyes zero in on his cherry stained lips, and an ingenious idea pops up in your mind as the sudden urge to kiss your boyfriend silly makes itself very known.
“Hey, wanna play a game, Yongie?” you ask slyly, and his attention immediately turns to you at the word “game,” interest piqued and eyes fixated on you.
“What kind of game?” he inquires cautiously, taking note of the mischievous glimmer in your eyes. You look like you’re up to no good, and your boyfriend wouldn’t be surprised if you have something up your metaphorical sleeve (Because nobody sane enough would be wearing something with sleeves in this weather from hell. In fact, you’re 66.6% percent certain that those fiery pits are probably cooler compared to here).
“Too hot.”
“Yes, it is,” he acknowledges, shaking his head in agreement, and you laugh, fanning yourself with your hands. “No, silly, I meant the game.”
“It’s called ‘too hot’?” He raises an eyebrow at you, and you confirm, nodding your head. The expression of skepticism on his face says it all, so you throw in your bargaining chip.
“I hid a chocolate bar in the freezer’s ice chest. The winner can have it.”
His doe eyes immediately light up at the mention of his favorite sweet, and he grabs your hand, squeezing it tightly. “Okay, how do I play?”
“We kiss,” you start, and he’s already pulling you towards him enthusiastically, causing soft laughter to bubble up from your throat, before you swat his hands away. “Hey, hey, hey, I wasn’t done explaining it yet! There’s no touching allowed.”
“That’s no fun,” Taeyong whines, lips jutting out into a tiny pout that you want to kiss away already. “You said this is a game. Games are supposed to be fun.”
“But you’re getting kisses, and it’s already hot so it’s better this way,” you coax, and he relents with a drawn out sigh, and you quietly cheer. “Okay, ready?”
Taeyong gives you a tiny nod, and you grin before leaning in, eyes fluttering close. You gently place your lips against his, and he holds still. But then, a few seconds later, you feel his fingers barely grazing your cheek, and you immediately pull away with a frown.
“Baby, I told you that you can’t touch!”
“That rule is dumb,” he complains, crossing his arms over his chest like a petulant child. You frown at him, pouting until he gives in again because it’s you and he’d cross oceans and climb mountains for you.
“Okay, let’s try again,” he grumbles, glowering as he absentmindedly cards his hand through his hair, and you positively beam at him, and the sulking expression on his face softens almost instantly.
“What if we do baby steps first?” You pull your legs up onto the couch, sitting up on your knees and facing him. He fully turns to look at you, head cocked to one side.
“What do you mean?”
You lean forward and peck his cheek before moving back to your original position. “Like that. Now your turn.”
A lightbulb goes off in his head, and Taeyong leans forward and gingerly places a kiss on your forehead with an endearing smile. You inch forward and kiss his other cheek. He plants a tiny kiss to the tip of your nose, and you lean in to delicately leave a kiss on the corner of his mouth. He presses a kiss to the corner of your lips, and you do the same to the opposite side, much to his utter frustration.
This time, Taeyong chases after you when you pull away. You let out a noise of surprise as he gently tugs you forward, crashing his lips against yours and muffling your laughter, and you find yourself straddling your boyfriend. Your hands wind up tangled in his hair, while his arms lock around your waist and hold you close, game be damned.
You can taste a faint trace of cherry, causing the corners of your mouth to curl into the minutest hint of a smile before you press your mouth against his more firmly as he kisses you back eagerly until you both run out of air, pulling away breathlessly with identical smiles.
“You lost,” you tease, poking his cheek with your finger as your other hand curls around his shirt. He makes a face at you, his hands still resting on your waist, and you find that you don’t mind the warmth of them against your skin even in this ruthlessly blazing weather.
“But you’ll share the chocolate, right?” he mumbles, face still flushed and lips redder than before. He traces soft patterns against your hip as you tilt your head to the side, faking your hesitation.
“Hmm, I don’t know, should I? I won fair and square.”
He sticks his tongue out at you. “Meanie.”
You laugh, sliding off his lap and onto the empty seat next to him (albeit a little unwillingly, but it’s still hot as hell unfortunately, and conserving body heat together isn’t helping at all). Your boyfriend frowns, mostly because you’re no longer sitting in his lap, but partly because he doesn’t understand why you’re laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
Your grin widens, eyes sparkling like you know something he doesn’t (because you do). “Baby, your tongue’s purple.”
Taeyong turns a shade brighter than his favorite popsicle flavor.

[TRR x ES] Viewing Party
Book: The Royal Romance & Endless Summer Pairings: Liam x MC (Katrina Bailey), Drake x OC (Alyssa Devereaux), Jake x MC (Laurel) Rating/Warnings: G; mild innuendo Author’s Note: * All main characters belong to Pixelberry, I’m just borrowing them * Katrina Bailey & Laurel are the MCs I use when writing fanfic for TRR and ES, respectively; Alyssa Devereaux belongs to birthday girl @burnsoslow * This is my submission for @wackydrabbles Prompt 80: Stop looking at me like that. * Author’s Note 2: * This is a birthday gift for my cheesy, potato loving homegirl Burnsie, who requested her very first Endless Summer/Jake fic, despite having never read any ES fic until now 🙈 for the sole reason being that she and Jake McKenzie are almost birthday twins, and my favorite pilot turns 30 this year. If you’re unfamiliar with canon ES trivia, Jake can hold his breath for 9 minutes, and Estela can hold her breath for an astonishing 14. This isn’t entirely what I had in mind when I set out to write an ES/Jake birthday fic, but I wasn’t about to miss your day because I’ve hit a whole ass writer’s wall, Burnsie! I hope you have an AMAZING day and I’m sending you so many hugs! You’re one of the sweetest ladies here, and I am so very thankful that I can call you a friend 🥰 also my real, real gift to you is coming at a later date, as I still have to work on it 😬 * and yes, that’s DDT in the moodboard - just for Burnsie, again - since I use Barnes as Drake’s FC in my TRR fics, lol * Word Count: 2000 on the dot!
Tumblr media
It was nearly 10:00 PM on Friday evening, when Burns arranged things around the comfiest chair in her living room. The rest of her family already retired for the evening, after a small but wonderful birthday celebration in her honor at home. Within easy reach, she’d arranged drinks and snacks next to her laptop - a glass of water, a hot mug of tea, a slice of homemade birthday cake to take care of any sugar cravings, and a small platter of cheese and crackers for something more savory. She grinned softly at the newest addition to her mug collection, watching the steam rise from the contents within.
The lavender mug arrived in the mail earlier that day from one of her friends, emblazoned with a quote from David Rose. Burns took a sip of the warm beverage before setting it down on the small side table and situated herself in the chair. She flipped open the laptop and pulled up a browser window, smiling at a gift from another friend - there was a sticker next to the trackpad with a drawing of a wedge of Swiss, quoting another memorable line from Schitt’s Creek, reminding her to “fold in the cheese.” Burns glanced to the time on the screen and logged in to her Netflix account, clicking until she arrived at the viewing party, and began typing to join the group chat.
She was greeted with jubilant messages from Donna, Ella, Brandy, Anitah, and half a dozen other friends, wishing her a happy birthday before the show started. They’d formed an ever-growing viewing party for a new series titled Stranded in the Orchard, which was an odd amalgamation of Survivor and Gilligan’s Island. Taking a cue from reality tv competitions, there were hidden cameras all over the island to monitor everyone and reduce production crew intervention, and in a nod to Hunger Games, there was an omnipresent host that would drop messages to signal when challenges were about to take place. After four episodes, the ladies in the watching party started picking their favorites from the two teams.
Team Ruby consisted of a group that appeared to have been shipwrecked onto the island. Leo was dubbed The Rogue; his brother Liam was The CEO; Katrina was The Attorney; Alyssa was The Teacher; Drake was The Cowboy; Olivia was The Weapons Expert; Bertrand was The Grump; Madeleine was The Whiner; Maxwell was Bertrand’s brother and The Jester; Hana was The Jill of All Trades. Bertrand and Madeleine had already been voted off when Ruby lost two events.
Team Catalyst consisted of a group of mostly college students. Jake was The Pilot; Laurel was The Mystery Girl; Sean was The Coach; Michelle was The Doctor, even though she was only pre-med; Craig was The Muscle; Zahra was The Engineer; Aleister was The Slick One; Grace was The Brain; Diego was The Entertainer; Estela was The Huntress. Catalyst lost the last two events, which sent Aleister and Grace packing.
Everyone settled in to watch the opening credits as they recapped last week’s episode, where Ruby won the immunity challenge and fishing gear by building a makeshift stretcher to rescue and carry Katrina from a jungle crash site to a first aid station on the beach; Catalyst voted Grace out. Burns popped a cheese cube into her mouth as she and her friends watched the two groups deal with day-to-day chores in their respective camps on Day 14 of the show. They chatted about the team members and how much Burns wanted to see Drake take off his shirt to go in the water, despite the knowledge that there were clips of him cuddling with Alyssa; Donna, Ella, and Anitah would keysmash in the group chat any time Liam appeared on the screen, even though he and Katrina were clearly sweet on each other, while Brandy and Alyssa Lauren would ask what was happening or who someone was from the Catalyst team.
“Pillows and blankets are nice, but what we could really use is food,” Maxwell said, drawing an octopus in the sand with a piece of driftwood. “I don’t know how much longer I can last on coconuts and rice.”
“Liam and Drake took the raft out this morning to try fishing with the gear, maybe they’ll get lucky,” Katrina suggested, stirring the pot of rice in the fire. She set the lid on top and stood up from her kimchi squat position, dusting some errant sand off her leg. They both looked out towards the water, as dawn stretched out across the ocean, making out shadowy forms of their friends as they bobbed in the water, just before one of them went under the surface. Behind them, the rest of their friends began to stir awake from the scent of rice cooking.
Back at the Catalyst camp, Jake sat by the campfire with Estela; they were working on making their own fishing gear from bamboo and camp supplies after losing the previous challenge. Jake fed a length of twine through a handmade fishing pole while Estela sharpened tips on one end of a pile of branches she’d gathered. “Whatcha whittlin’, Katniss?”
Estela glanced at Jake sideways. “Stakes. Hand over some of that twine, I need it to bind these to make spears.” With a begrudging huff, Jake unfurled the twine and ran it against the edge of the makeshift bench he was sitting on to cut it, before tossing the rest at Estela.
“How fast can you tie those off? We’re losin’ daylight for a morning catch, if you wanna ride on the raft with me.”
“Five minutes,” she answered, already working nimbly around a branch to secure the whittled spikes.
The screen cut back to Ruby’s camp, where Liam and Drake stepped ashore, smiles brighter than the sunrise as Drake held up a fish trap with small rays flapping against one another.
“kjsdhfksjhfksjhfks,” Burns smashed into her keyboard. “Look at my man! With the sea bounty!”
“mevmnbvmnxb,” Ella smashed back.
“How do you know Drake did all the work? Liam’s just as wet, hahaha,” Donna chortled in response.
After killing their catch as humanely as possible - with Alyssa turning her face to Drake’s chest to avoid witnessing it - Leo and Olivia gutted and cleaned the rays before setting them on top of their makeshift grill to cook. Liam and Drake regaled the group with their morning under the water, as they took turns fishing.
While Team Ruby enjoyed some protein with their rice that morning, members of the Catalyst team glumly spooned rice into their mouths as they sat around the campfire while Jake and Estela dried off; their morning fishing trip had been unsuccessful.
Later that day, both teams received messages from the host to gather for a reward challenge. Each team made their way to a small lagoon, where they saw a structure floating in the water. A booming voice overhead instructed them to swim out to the structure and await further instructions. Once everyone from both teams had done so, a blue holographic image of the host appeared in the center to explain the rules. “The challenge is simple,” she narrated. “We want to see who can hold their breath the longest. There’s a bar you can use to keep yourself from floating up if you need it. Last one standing earns the prize for the whole team — an overnight trip at the Celestial Hotel, where our rotating film crew goes to rest. You’ll be treated to clean sheets and towels, hot showers, along with a decadent dinner and breakfast menu the next morning, before having to return to your camp.”
Everyone’s eyes lit up at the incentive of a night away from sleeping on the beach, away from mosquitos, rodents, and the threat of being waterlogged by passing storms. Stomachs gurgled at the thought of hot meals that didn’t consist of rice, and the possibility of cocktails or wine. “Oh, we got this,” Jake murmured quietly to Laurel. “Bet I can hold my breath longer’n any of those Ruby kids.”
“Is that so?” Leo taunted, overhearing Jake’s comment.
“Just call me Poseidon,” Jake smirked.
“We’ll see about that,” Leo replied. “You know most of us are from an island, right? We’re basically merpeople.”
“Bets! Bets on who wins this!” Brandy typed into the chat window.
“Sticking with Drake,” Burns typed. “Maybe Hana. She could have another random talent up her sleeve.”
“My money’s on Liam. Look how broad his chest is,” Anya replied. “He’s got to have massive lungs to match.”
“That makes no sense,” Ella typed, adding a laughing emoji. “But I’m Team Liam anyway.”
“Don’t hate me,” Donna began. “Something tells me Jake isn’t boasting right now.”
From her screen at home, Alyssa Lauren used Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe to choose Zahra. The rest of the group picked their favorites as the castaways donned goggles and got into the water.
“Ready? Set! Go!”
Sixteen heads dipped under the water’s surface, with contestants pinching their noses and puffing out their cheeks as an underwater camera filmed them. A handful of them - Olivia, Alyssa, Maxwell, Diego, and Michelle - tapped out under a minute. As the sand settled, thirty seconds passed before Katrina, Laurel, Sean, and Drake headed to the surface. Just after the two minute mark, Hana, Craig, and Zahra gave up, leaving Jake, Liam, Estela, and Leo under the water.
Jake looked positively peaceful, sandy brown hair swaying with ease in the water. Estela tapped her fingers lightly across the bamboo rod, counting each second as it passed. Liam glanced over to his brother, who’d begun to turn pink. Half a minute later, Leo popped up to the surface, muttering to himself out of frustration.
Three minutes in, Liam surfaced, gasping for air, leaving Jake and Estela to battle it out between themselves. Even though the hologram host blasted a horn to signal the end of the challenge, neither Catalyst member surfaced. Liam ducked down to check on them, and Jake and Estela both signaled that they were fine. Everyone continued to wait as the pair spent minute after minute under the water.
“Seriously? They’re on the same team!” Anitah typed. “They won already!”
“They’ve been underwater for a scary length of time,” Brandy added. “What are they, Navy SEALs or something?”
“I think Jake mentioned he was actually in the Navy before,” Alyssa Lauren replied.
A digital clock appeared in the corner of the screen as the two Catalyst members continued to hold their breath underwater. With each passing minute, members from both groups began to worry. After eight minutes passed, the host’s voice rang out, advising them to pull Jake and Estela up from the water to end the challenge. Laurel and Craig ducked down, eventually pulling their teammates up. “Congratulations to The Catalysts!” the host exclaimed. “A boat will be waiting at your camp to take you to the hotel.”
Laurel swatted Jake’s arm as they made their way to the shore. “What’s wrong with you!? You were underwater for nearly ten minutes! Who does that!?”
Jake looked over his shoulder to her with a grin, mischievous sparkle in his bright blue eyes. “Ten would be a new record, my best is nine.” He leaned down to whisper in her ear. “Imagine nine uninterrupted minutes of me holding my breath, Princess. My birthday is tomorrow, and I know exactly how I wanna celebrate,” he winked.
Laurel’s cheeks flushed at the suggestion. “Stop looking at me like that, Top Gun.”
That evening at the hotel, after a sumptuous feast of lobster, crab, and an endless supply of beer and wine, the Catalyst members eventually went to bed. Much later into the night, Jake was seen sneaking into Laurel’s room.
“I KNEW IT!” Burns typed. She laughed as her friends typed in responses full of lemon, fire, pepper, and eggplant emojis. She popped another cheese cube into her mouth and smiled, watching the rest of the episode play out.

Suicide TW!!! I live for the Nick/Stephen frenemy relationship, so: AU where Stephen is severely depressed and, instead of crashing his car, he parks in a pull-over and attempts suicide (drugs, alcohol, cutting, up to you) only to then be hit by an oncoming car. As a result, he ends up in hospital to realise that not only is he still alive, but Nick knows what he did. He can't stand the shame and humiliation, until he hears the words "I'm sorry" out of nowhere.
Okay nonny, so a couple things:
By relationship I presume you meant “platonic relationship” as my list of (serious) romance-focused stories in the MCU is a big fat zero and will remain that way probably for some time. If not all time. But I never say never.
I altered the scenario a bit and decided not to use a car crash, but the main elements (depression/suicide, Nick and Stephen interaction, Nick Knowing) remain. This also sort of allows it to potentially be in the “realm of canon” with enough stretching, should one decide to want the headcanon. Though IMO this is an AU-verse.
So I hope that’s all okay and you still find it fulfilling. I’ve never actually written Nick before (though I dabbled with the idea of all the events of Doctor Strange from Nick’s POV like, back when the film first came out) so that was also fun. I really dislike fics that make him look like an idiot (or worse, a pervert for some weird ass reason) so it’s great to get my own view out.
And I also didn’t want to write a book because I’ve got too many WIPs that are books that need to get finished first, so I was going for “short and sweet”. In a manner of speaking. I mean it seems I’m still incapable of doing something under 2000 words but it’s shorter than the last prompt so you know, I’m getting there.
As the prompt suggests, this fic will go into detail about very serious subjects around mental health, including depression and suicide. Please proceed with caution if these are sensitive subjects for you.
Please also note that the symptoms and actions taken within the story are not a guide or diagnosis tool and should be interpreted as strictly fictional. Please refer to official literature such as those offered by the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (US) and other verified sources for what you should do if you believe someone you know is suffering from suicidal thoughts.
Written for @stephenstrangebingo square, “It’s Not About You”.
—————–
Every employee at Metro-General took the confidentiality of their patients’ conditions seriously. There was no doctor or nurse on staff that could be bribed to leak any celebrity’s medical information; they were known for having some of the best doctors for a reason. Many of the elite of New York went to that hospital in the middle of Midtown for that famous discretion.
There was, however, one glaring exception to this rule that every nurse and doctor learned early on: if one of their co-workers had something very serious happen to them, their status would eventually leak out to the rest of the staff. There was never anything particularly hostile about the whispers, and while curiosity was the biggest fuel to the information train, news tended to spread out from concern rather than scorn. This trend even applied to staff members that were generally seen as assholes.
Doctor Nicodemus West learned this during his next shift. A couple minutes after entering his office, just as he was getting into his email inbox, a quick knock at the open door broke his concentration. He looked up and smiled. “Morning, Alyssa.”
The nurse offered a brief smile in greeting, but stepped inside and closed the door before speaking. “Did you hear the news?” she asked softly; her smile was gone.
His brow furrowed. “I’m sorry, news?”
“Doctor Strange was admitted to the ER last night.”
His mind came to a screeching halt. “What? Seriously?” He generally avoided the man if he could, though from what was going around the gossip circles the last couple weeks, Strange was still a raging asshole, but in good health. “What happened?”
Alyssa shook her head. “I don’t know all the details, but he had to get his stomach pumped.”
Nick winced in sympathy; that was not a pleasant experience. “Jeez,” he muttered. “Is he doing okay?”
“Last I heard, he’s stable,” she answered. “Apparently Doctor Palmer’s still his emergency contact, though.”
“She would be anyone’s emergency contact; she’s too good of a person,” he replied in return. “Thanks for letting me know, though; I suspect others in the department may need to take some of his patients that can’t wait for him.”
Alyssa nodded. “The administration is already looking through his cases, though I expect he’ll be up and back at work as soon as he can. Doctor Strange is never really one for breaks.”
“I suppose not,” said Nick. The conversation turned to other topics and the neurosurgeon put the matter with Strange in the back of his mind, left as generally unimportant in the grand scheme of his life.
—————
Strange got back to work and things got back to normal in the neurology department.
Only thing was, Nick started noticing things.
While Doctor West was no prodigy like Doctor Strange, he would not have the ability to become a neurosurgeon without the ability to notice details. It was the details in life— in the human body in particular— that fascinated him and turned him towards medicine in the first place. No, he wasn’t a prodigy, but he was still damn good at his job.
So when Strange came back to the office a few days after his visit to the ER, Nick decided to break his usual policy of avoiding Strange as much as humanly possible and went to his office to welcome him back. It was good for department morale to act mostly cordial to each other, even if most of the effort was on his part.
The door was open and Strange was still in his outer coat, back to him, when Nick knocked on the doorway. The doctor turned to face him and Nick raised a hand in greeting. “Hey. Just wanted to say welcome back.”
Strange’s brow furrowed and he made a rather weird expression. “Oh… uh, thanks.” He turned to the coat rack in the corner of the room and began to remove his outerwear.
“How’re you…” Nick started, but paused as the coat was fully removed, revealing Strange’s dress shirt underneath. It hung rather loosely on his figure; apparently the man had lost some weight recently. Due to Christine Palmer’s honeymoon phase about two years ago, Nick was more aware than he would prefer to be about how ‘fit’ Doctor Stephen Strange was (which really was unfair).
It seemed that wasn’t the case anymore. When had that happened?
Strange didn’t seem to notice his trailing off. “I’m fine. Perfectly alright, thank you. I hope you didn’t botch any of my surgeries while I was gone.”
And there was the asshole he remembered. Nick pressed his lips together. “All your patients are recovering without setback. You can even see them for yourself.” He did his best to cut back the bite of sarcasm in his last sentence.
If Strange heard it, he didn’t comment on it. “I’ll let the nurses handle it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I do have a lot of emails to catch up on. Close the door behind you, if you would.”
Nick rolled his eyes and shut the door as he left the office, but the detail seen settled in the back of his mind to remain quiet, but not forgotten.
And with that one thing noticed, he started to notice more things as the weeks passed on.
According to Alyssa, Strange was rarely seen in the hospital cafeteria anymore— one of the cafeteria staff  members who had an open crush on the doctor was complaining about it, apparently.
Strange was having bouts of insomnia, according to gossiping security personnel. There were times that doctors did not go home for the night, but his were becoming more consistent occurrences.
As Nick ate with members from both his usual surgical team and Strange’s surgical team one lunch time a few weeks after Strange came back to work, the topic somehow went to Strange and his uncanny recollection for music, no matter the genre or decade it was released. It was well known that he liked to have the others on his team try and challenge him with their song choices while he was performing his operations.
“Not anymore,” said Billy, and Alyssa frowned at him.
“What? But that’s his gig! He’s been doing that for years.”
Billy shrugged. “He hasn’t been doing it for a few months now. He’s told us he doesn’t care what we want to play, but he doesn’t guess at songs anymore. Doesn’t give any recommendations, either. It sort of sucks; my music library has barely expanded this year.”
“Maybe you need to find something really challenging, a song so obscure that he’ll be drawn into it again,” she said. “I wonder how well he knows Jamaican music.”
“We tried British and Australian Top Hits of the ‘80s last year, but we haven’t done Jamaica. Do Jamaicans generally speak English? He hasn’t memorized songs from every language in the world.”
She rolled her eyes, and as Alyssa started explaining the history of Jamaica and Jamaican Creole, Nick stored this new bit of information away in the section of his brain that, somehow, had become dedicated to collecting all these tidbits.
And Nick noticed that every time he bumped into the other neurosurgeon in the hall, he appeared exhausted. Nick did not know if anyone else noticed the clear loss of weight and the dark bags around his eyes, but they were blindingly obvious to him.
Usually Strange moved with an endless amount of energy when off to surgery, and with some of the more challenging surgeries the energy stayed with him no matter how long the procedure took. It was an exuberance that even he admired, though it was never something he planned to admit to Strange. But now the energy was missing. He was still snarky and aloof, but the spark of genuine joy that was once clear to everyone in the department was gone.
If Strange was a friend, he would have acted weeks ago. If Strange was a colleague he got along with, he would have waited no longer than a month, just to make sure. But two months after his short medical hiatus and Nick remained uncertain, because this was Stephen Strange. Surely no one as big-headed and arrogant as he could ever actually be— yes, there were some signs, but it just seemed too far-fetched. Surely not.
A couple weeks later and some of the doctors from neurosurgery, some from cardiology, and some from the ER were having a rare lunch together. Somehow Christine Palmer had managed to drag Strange out of his office to see his coworkers. And somehow he ended up sitting next to Strange, though the man was mostly quiet as he took the occasional bite from his salad. That in itself was very unusual, as Nick was used to Strange enjoying all the attention of the room.
The conversation turned to a sudden, inexplicable death that happened just yesterday that the hospital was still trying to solve. As theories went around the table, Nick heard Strange mutter under his breath, “Maybe she just realized life wasn’t worth living.” None of the others heard it. Nick pretended he didn’t, either.
But the comment resonated in his head for the rest of the day.
————
This was not going to be comfortable. This was not going to be easy. Nick hated that he, of all people, had noticed. Had no one else seen it?
It only took another day to push his discomfort aside. “It’s not about you,” he mumbled to himself in the mirror in the early morning. “Strange needs help.” And he was a doctor, first and foremost. And doctors helped people in need.
He wanted to speak with Strange outside the hospital, in a neutral place for them both. The only problem was that he never saw the man outside of work and he had no idea how to approach him.
The opportunity came a few days later when Nick was already performing surgery while on call. Another emergency craniotomy was required and Strange stepped in at Christine’s request while Nick was unavailable. It was as good a reason as any.
“Thank you for taking that patient yesterday,” he said in greeting the next morning.
Strange looked up from his computer, surprise crossing his features. He looked tired. “No surgeon can be in two surgeries at once,” he said with a shrug.
“Still, I appreciate it,” Nick said. “I know you’re not fond of the ER.”
“A butcher shop.”
He ignored the comment. “So I’d like to thank you. You free after work? Dinner’s on me.”
The other man stared at him. “You want to have dinner,” he said flatly.
“As colleagues,” he added, hopefully unnecessarily, because really? “I’m trying to be nice and show my appreciation, Strange. Don’t be an ass about it and just say yes.”
Strange lifted his brows high, but the fuel to his ego did the trick. “Yeah, sure. Got any place in mind?”
Nick shrugged. “There’s a good Italian place three blocks south of us.”
“Italian’s fine.”
“Cool. See you later.” He ignored the expression on Strange’s face and took his leave.
—————
The walk from the hospital to the restaurant was a bit of an uncomfortable one, but Nick wasn’t certain if it was mostly one-sided or not; Strange was more or less expressionless. He only tried to instigate conversation once throughout the walk, but it trailed off to silence before they reached the second block, so Nick decided then to save all attempts at conversation for dinner.
It was going to be hard enough then.
After they arrived and were seated, he also decided to wait until they had finished eating before approaching the topic. Maybe the food would relax the nerves in his gut.
So in the meantime he talked shop. It had been some time since either of them had discussed their cases with each other, so he figured that it was a safe enough conversation topic until the end of the meal.
Unfortunately Strange, bastard that he was, threw him off his planned course. It was just after they ordered food; both had a glass of wine and their waiter had already set down a basket of bread and a saucer of olive oil for dipping. Strange caught Nick as the latter was ripping off a piece of bread to smother in the dipping oil.
“What is this really about?” he asked.
Nick paused mid-dip. “What?”
“All this.” He waved an arm to gesture to the restaurant. “I’ve helped in the ER several times when your hands were full. What is this actually about?”
He set his bread on his plate, frowning. “You can’t wait until after we eat?”
Strange raised a brow. “Consider yourself fortunate I said yes to this at all. I only came because, admittedly, I’m curious; I cannot begin to guess what you could possibly want to talk to me about outside of work.”
“Fine, fine.” Nick sighed and set his elbows on the table. He pressed his lips against his closed fists as he figured out how to start. All the while, Strange stared at him with an odd mix of exasperation and puzzlement. “You…” he started slowly. He trailed off.
“Me,” said Strange.
Fuck it. “You’ve been off lately.”
His brows shot up. “Off?”
“Yeah, off. Not yourself. Different.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“It means exactly that. You’re acting differently lately. For a while, apparently.”
He bristled in clear irritation. “If you’re just going to waste my time—”
“You don’t enjoy your work anymore.”
That shut him up. Nick continued in the silence. “You used to always enter and exit your operations with this excitement that echoed down the halls. That’s completely gone.”
Strange recovered his voice. “If you’re implying that my work has suffered—”
“No, no,” he interrupted. “Not at all. This isn’t about the quality of your work; this is about you.” Strange didn’t have an immediate retort to that, so Nick continued, “Or maybe it’s not about you but about this man that’s taken over you the last several months. That man is clearly not eating and sleeping well, barely comes out of his office, hasn’t bragged about his newest studies and speeches in months, and mutters about life not being worth living at lunchtime.”
His colleague’s mouth hung slightly open as if he wanted to say something but had forgotten how to speak. Nick couldn’t quite read the emotion in his eyes, either. Before he completely lost his nerve, he said one last observation. “And that man,” he muttered, “had his stomach pumped two months ago, and those circumstances combined with the rest paint a picture of a man who… might be a bit lost.”
Something raw flashed through Strange’s eyes that made him appear more vulnerable than Nick’s ever seen him before. That brought on a strange and discomforting feeling that joined the rest of the jumbled nerves in his stomach.
Quickly he continued, “You don’t need to tell me anything. I’m not demanding anything from you. I just wanted to say that— no matter what differences we have— that if you do need someone for— for anything— that I’m here. Even if it’s just to listen.”
He fell silent, and still Strange didn’t say anything immediately, which was unusual in itself. Nick wasn’t sure if he should continue looking at him or if he should look away, or what.
And thank God, dinner arrived and gave him the perfect reason to look away and leave Strange to his thoughts.
The silence sat for the remainder of the meal. Strange didn’t eat much (though he couldn’t blame him) but also didn’t leave. Nick didn’t know what that meant, or if it meant anything at all.
Still, he had one last thing to say.
After he paid the bill, he pulled a card from his wallet as he stood up. “She came with high recommendations,” he said as he put down the card of a therapist that most certainly did not work at Metro-General. “Think about it.” With that, he took his leave, allowing Strange time alone to dwell on what he said.
————
When they next saw each other at work, neither of them made any indication to each other that they had dinner last night. Their last conversation never crossed the threshold of the hospital. Strange never called him, and Nick never inquired about his well being more than he did any other coworker.
But a few months later, when he got word that Strange was starting his music challenge games in his operations once more, Nick allowed himself a small smile at the news.

I have to tell you something but PLEASE, please, don't be mad. I love Brienne, and I loved her with Jamie, and I'm mad and sad that they didn't get to have their happy ending...but I don't think his ending was shit. Or OOC. First at all, book!Jamie is not TV!Jamie: his relationship with Cersei is different, not as sick or manipulative. He loves his siter and is loved by her in a more "helthier" way: in the show she told Tywing the truth about them, and it's huge considering the love for power1/?
He watched her lose their 3 children, he learned about her walk of shame to get back to Tommen, he witnessed Robert’s humiliations. I think he would have stayed with Brienne if she knew his sister was safe, but he couldn’t be happy if his siter died and he did nothing to save her. He needed to be that person, otherwise all his growth would be lost, and he would have dragged Brienne in his spiral, and he didn’t want to make her miserable. To me he is still an honorable man, bc when there was a chance to do something, he did it: he killed the king to save KL, he fought the dead army, but over and over he said that the Lannister army didn’t stand a chance against the dragons or the Dathraki, he was not a fool. His speech was not about NOT CARING, it was about knowing there was nothing he could have done. He did good, he was good, and till his last moment he tried to be honorable, he tried to be the person Brienne inspired him. P.s.: Still heartbroken that he died, but I think there is some poetic justice with Cercei crashed by the symbol of the power she tried lo long to hold.
anon, I appreciate that you’re being nice and I appreciate that you’re trying to find some sense in this entire thing, but… okay, I’ll go over it and please don’t take me as *me* being mad or whatever but I don’t think a few things were clear here so I’ll try to do it now:
jc in the show is not healthier. it might be different, but it’s not and the fact that it might have been less obvious doesn’t mean that they didn’t drag that toxic mess out for four seasons when it had no reasons to exist. now: I was down with looking at it until s4 because that was book canon and I can deal with book canon. I had to look at three more fucking seasons of that toxic abusive mess happening and I don’t know if it’s obvious or not, but if I have one thing, like one in the universe that I can’t deal with, that I hate and that makes me feel sick more than anything else it’s emotional/psychological manipulation. and show!jc has that in spades and I can’t. like, as it is right now I’m pretty damn sure I’d take reading explicit thramsay fic that ends horribly with annexed detailed fanart than even rewatching five seconds of a scene where those two are in the same frame and is2g if they had kissed at the end of 8x05 I’d have thrown up. please for the love of everything if you think it’s better than book canon your prerogative, but don’t come at me informing me of that because I can’t. especially not right now;
I honestly can’t give much of a damn about the stuff c. suffered when 80% of that is her damn fault and I’m especially talking about tommen who only did that because she gave zero shits about his opinion in anything but we’re supposed to think she’s a good mother or that she cares which makes me especially sick because people have decided that for her out of nowhere when we all know how much leeway they give catelyn for that and I’m honestly done with it, and maybe it’s not inconsistent that he’d care, but it’s inconsistent how they wrote it;
because I mean if they showed some half-regret over leaving brienne or she was mentioned or if the entire thing was addressed instead of spending four episodes building it up and then did in four minutes what it took six feet under an entire season to do with nate and brenda back in the day is bad writing, has no consistency, it also murdered tyrion as a character because I can’t believe that in the span of two episodes he goes from I’m happy that you’re happy to WELL I DON’T HATE MY SISTER SO MUCH JUST GO TO PENTOS when ah, wait, c. sent bronn to kill both of them?
also ‘who ever cared abotu the innocents’ or whatever the fuck that line was??? wow, that’s all this asshole has ever cared about in canon to the point of losing his reputation for it not counting c. or tyrion at least in the very beginning of the series when everyone thinks he’s an ass, and I have to buy that this episode was halfway decent writing?
also: even if I was okay with jaime’s ending - which I could have been if at least it amounted to something because that entire episode was a plot hole after plot hole (where’s widow’s wail? he waves WITH THE FAKE HAND??? WTF??, did he ring the bells so he actually helped destroy the city without knowing dany would lose her shit through jon connington’s ghost possessing her? if bran didn’t rat him out bc he had A ROLE TO PLAY what was the damned role since he hasn’t done anything until now that warranted it??? just the first four) and he didn’t even… help cersei or take her out like he literally was there to just give her some basic human comfort and rocks fall everyone dies, what’s the sense of it?? -, anon, this entire narrative leaves brienne horribly;
because sorry but in the best of chances she’s not pregnant and someone lies to her and tells her jaime went there to stop cersei and tried to be honorable (which given what they made him say about not caring for the innocents makes it bad writing but nvm) and she can think okay, I waited years for the right guy to trust/open myself to and then he left me like that but at least he did it for a good reason now will I ever trust anyone again, maybe, and I assure you that getting over such a thing is not too easy, but that would be the best option. mid-bad option: she still thinks he did it for the right reasons but she’s pregnant so hey, she has an illegitimate child from a man who left her like that to go into a senseless death making her believe she was wrong about him and breaking her heart and she has to play single mother in tarth without him or maybe she can hedge knight along with the kid or leave him with pod or smth but that doesn’t look good on jaime either. or worse, she’s pregnant and she finds out he went just to die with cersei and didn’t even mention her or anything to tyrion along the way so she did all of the above…. for a guy who at the end of it as the narration puts it just went back to die with c. and a kid he didn’t even know might be real or not when she could have given him what he always craved/wanted/needed and left her like that? like, anon, even if it was a good ending for jaime, there is no bloody way that brienne gets out of this mess of a season with a dignified ending unless they somehow manage to pull a miracle out of their arses and sorry but their writing has been so bad that I honestly doubt it, not even david milch showing up like the calvarly could salvage this crap of a finale, and for all characters tbqh, not just them;
on top of that, sorry but it passes the message that brienne, only rep. in this show for nonstandard attractive people who spends years thinking she’ll never find love and suddenly thinks she can be happy with the guy who also fulfilled her greatest dream and opens herself up to him putting her vulnerability on the line (and while I don’t really think the whole virginity thing is that much of an issue since she actually did manage to give it to the guy she wanted it does mean something in this context)…………. shouldn’t have done it because wow, left like that without a second thought and without being addressed in the next episode at all by at least tyrion who has spent the previous four episodes either admiring her or trying to get her and jaime together never mind jaime? wow, I mean, I surely signed up to see the character I always saw myself in getting this shit treatment by people who obviously didn’t understand either her or jaime at the bottom of it for as much as I still think 8x04 did it right until the end?
anon, I appreciate your optimism about that narrative, but this episode was so badly written that it managed to about destroy the narratives of characters that weren’t even in it (sansa and brienne, and let’s not even discuss sansa because lmao), to have every single person but davos and possibly jon but meh behave ooc given what half of their lines said if not their actions because even if we take jaime’s actions as your reading (legit) what they made him say was still atrocious and ooc and same for tyrion, let’s not even touch dany or sandor/arya or really anyone that wasn’t davos. I cannot, in all good conscience, find anything good about this mess because it was badly written. period. even if we decide that the plot and motivations were fine and we try to make them make sense the way you did, the execution was shit, the dialogue was shit, it looked like they weren’t even trying, it did a disservice to every single character that was in it except davos who was there for five seconds to smuggle stuff and I honestly, honestly, cannot even find the force of will to try to make sense of it.
this entire season has been a gigantic plot hole, it wasn’t coherent within its own narration see ep. 2 clashing with ep. 8, 90% of what happened post 8x02 was for shock value without giving a single fuck about making it look in character and making the characters behave nonsensically - and I don’t mean just jaime, I mean all of them to serve the undoubtedly wtf shocking ending they have in plan for us which if I guessed already I’ll hate with the force of a thousand suns, and I’m honestly done with trying to make sense of this thing because nothing makes sense anymore. I appreciate that y’all are trying but I give up. I can’t make sense of a narrative that goes like we’re doing this because it’s cool and if it doesn’t add up with everything we did before who gives a fuck’, and I honestly can do without trying to find a silver lining in a show that has totally twisted the message of the books and turned into an angst fest for which everyone has to be miserable at all costs or it’s not good tv, and that’s the last I’m going to say about this specific matter because:
a) I’m tired, b) I want to finish my spitefics and ignore this mess ever happened and concentrate on doing something that makes me happy, c) if I just keep on thinking about how bad this was IN GENERAL I wish jaime was my #1 problem I just feel worse and I don’t need it, d) the fact that they did brienne this dirty and she wasn’t even in this episode is really leaving the worst sour taste in my mouth and it’s already bad enough that I have to hope her ending is only 80% crap and not 100% crap, I honestly can’t with discourse that tries to find any basic sense in how this episode was conceived and executed beyond my problems with jc, jaime’s writing and the fact that they managed to get wrong one of his three most basic character traits that has nothing to do with brienne or jb for that matter.
thanks for being polite and nice about this and I swear I’m not mad but I honestly can’t with this episode and I would appreciate if from this point on anyone could refrain from trying to make jc sound better than it is where I can see it/where I can’t blacklist it because it’s really not a good idea right now. thanks again and have a possibly nicer than than mine. ;)

I did end up changing the request just the slightest bit!! Here you go, lovely Anon! Enjoy!! xx
Warnings: violence, fluffy Peter, a cheesy kiss in the rain ;)
Tumblr media
“You’ve got this, Peter,” Ned whispered in his friend’s ear, rubbing his shoulders, “You’re an animal. You’re the man. You’re freaking Spider-Man.” Peter was standing in front of his locker, taking deep breaths as he eyed you down the hall. His hands were sweaty and trembling. He could do this.
He nodded his head and clapped his hands together. “I can do it, Ned. What’s the worst that could happen?” Ned cheered and Peter began to walk towards you. Not even three steps in, it was like slow motion as you glanced down the hall over your shoulder, catching Peter’s eye. You flashed him one of your dazzling smiles and he froze. His breath caught in his throat and his heart threatened to beat out of his chest.
Peter has had a crush on you for as long as he could remember. He never really spoke to you except for the wonderful occasions that you got stuck being his partner for class projects but he was head over heels. You were captain of the chess team, on the Honor Roll, three-time science fair champion, and the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on.
Peter didn’t see your smile fade as he quickly turned on his heel, walking back to Ned. “I can’t do it,” Peter said, finally getting his breath back.
Ned looked at him with disbelief and threw his hands into the air. “Do you want to see (Y/N) go to Homecoming with someone else?” he almost shouted.
Peter clapped his hand over Ned’s mouth, afraid you heard. “No, I don’t but she’d never go with me!”
Ned licked Peter’s hand, earning a disgusted look before saying, “You won’t know until you ask, dude! You should have seen her face when you turned away.” Peter quickly whipped his head around, surprised at the idea that you were disappointed he walked away. You weren’t looking anymore, instead you were talking with your friends, shrugging your shoulders every now and then. You touched your hair nervously and smiled at the floor. Peter noticed a blush creep onto your cheeks. A small part of him hoped you were talking about him but he knew in the grand scheme of things, you’d actually be laughing and pointing if that were the case.
“I just.. I can’t, man,” Peter shrugged, sounding defeated.
Ned pursed his lips and shook his head at his nervous friend. In a flash, Ned called out your name, waving you over. Peter flashed his friend a wide-eyed stare before crashing his back into the lockers, crossing his arms and trying to look cool. You giggled as you bounced over to them, your hips seemingly swaying in time with the drumming of Peter’s heart.
You smiled broadly, stopping mere inches from Peter’s arm. He could have sworn that he felt your body heat radiating off of you. “Hey, Ned,” you turned your bright eyes on Peter, “hi, Peter.” A pink blush grazed your cheeks.
Peter flushed a dark crimson, only nodding his head and avoiding your gaze. “Peter, has something he wants to ask you,” and with that, Ned snickered with a devilish grin at Peter.
Peter had your undivided attention and it made his head spin. His throat dried up with nerves and he was afraid that if he tried to speak, all he’d do is croak. “I... uh... you...” was all he could manage at first.
You giggled into your palm, admittedly feeling just as nervous as Peter. You were just better at hiding it. “What is it, Peter? Cat got your tongue?” you ask with a small smile.
Peter let out a struggled laugh, his face burning with embarrassment. Ned frantically looked at his friend. Seeing the terror in his eyes, Ned piped up, “Well, Peter and I were wondering if you were going to Homecoming?” Ned nudged Peter assuredly as his best friend let out a relieved sigh.
You clasped your hands behind your back and rocked back on your heels. “Um...” a soft blush singed your cheeks, “As of now, no. Nobody has asked me. I’ve been hoping someone would.” You looked up expectantly at Peter.
You could see his breath quicken as you gazed at him. Nervously, you chewed on your lip as you realized he didn’t catch the hint. “Oh, cool...” Peter said before Ned harshly kicked his shin, “ouch! I mean, uh, not cool. Someone as pretty as you should have a date.”
Your heart sped up at that. “Yeah, I suppose.” An awkward silence overcame the three of you. You let out a sigh and thought, Screw it. “Are you going, Peter?” He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at his dirty sneakers. Out of your peripheral you could see Ned roll his eyes in defeat. You swallows hard before asking, “Would you want to go with me?”
Peter’s gaze shot up to meet yours. A wide smile crept onto his chiseled face and his mouth opened and closed like a fish. “I... I was supposed to ask that,” he said, blushing fiercely at his response.
You shrugged and smiled back at him. “You were taking to long,” you giggled and gave the blushing boy a wink. “So, pick me up at 7?”
He slowly nodded. “That sounds good.”
You gingerly touched Peter’s arm before beginning to walk away, a big smile on your face. “Oh,” you exclaimed, turning back to Peter, “I should give you my number and address.” You laughed at your forgetfullness, grabbing a pen out of your shoulder bag. Taking Peter’s arm, you rolled up his sleeve. Peter’s skin tingled at your touch. He was sure he was gonna faint if you kept holding his wrist like that. You quickly scribbled your number and address onto his skin. “There. Just text me whenever and I’ll let you know what color my dress is.”
“Why would I need to know that?” Peter asked, genuinely confused.
“For the corsage, silly.” The school bell gave a shrill ring. “I’ve got to get to chess practice. Catch you guys later!” With that, you turned on your heel and all but sprinted down the hall. Peter watched your form slowly recede into the mass of students.
“Well, you did... something?” Ned said, clapping his hand on Peter’s shoulder.
Peter let out a love-struck sigh before turning to Ned, “What the hell is a corsage?”

Peter asked... Well, you asked Peter to Homecoming on Tuesday and the dance was on Friday. Those were the longest three days of Peter’s life. You paid attention to him more in the hallways, breaking away from your friends to talk with him. In those few days, Peter learned that you loved 80s movies, were an avid reader, and most of your humor consisted of quoting movies. He couldn’t have been more enamored with you.
As soon as school ended on Tuesday, Peter texted you from the top of building as he lounged in his Spider-Man suit.
Peter: Hey, (Y/N)!! It’s Peter. Peter Parker.
You: I was wondering when you’d finally text me haha
Peter: Just couldn’t find time during school lol
You: So what’s up? :)
Peter’s heart was soaring. He was texting his crush. He was going to Homecoming with his crush!! Peter had a long conversation with you that evening. He didn’t even realize how long you two had been talking until he looked over Queens and it was dark.
On Wednesday, you stopped Peter in the hall between classes. “Hey, Petey!” you called down the hall.
Peter wanted to melt at the sound of your voice and the nickname. “Hey, (Y/N/N),” he replied, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
You rested your hand on Peter’s bicep, being dramatic as you caught your breath. “My mom found the most perfect dress and I’m picking it up tonight. It’s a really pretty peachy color.”
“Peachy?” he replied, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, like a peach. Ya know, the fruit...” Peter nodded. Your hand still on his bicep, you were pretty sure you felt him flex. You giggled and gave it a squeeze. “Did you just flex?”
His face burned a bright crimson and he nervously cleared his throat. “Uh, no... of course not... that’d be...”
“Kinda hot...” You giggled at Peter’s shocked expression before giving him a playful punch to the chest. Damn, it was as hard as a rock. “I’ll catch ya later, Petey.” Before you could turn away, Peter bent down and planted a chaste kiss to your cheek. Peter hummed a goodbye and sped off down the hall. You brushed your finger tips against your cheek. His lips were chapped and warm. You couldn’t stop the big, goofy grin that spread across your face. You practically skipped to class.
*   *   *
The big night arrived and Peter wanted to throw up. His Aunt May helped him put together a good outfit and picked out this awful smelling cologne. She was also the life-saver that reminded Peter last minute that he needed a corsage. The flower in question was currently clutched in Peter’s sweaty hands. As May drove him to your house to pick you up, she drilled him with questions.
“So, once the dance is over, what do you do?”
“Ask her if she wants to come up for a drink...” Peter broke out in laughter as his aunt began smacking his arm.
“Peter Benjamin Parker!” she squealed, almost swerving into a garbage can.
The rest of the car ride was silent. May pulled into the driveway of your big house in the suburbs. Peter’s hand rested on the door handle of the car but he didn’t budge. May rubbed his arm reassuringly before saying, “Just be yourself, Peter, and go get her.” She planted a wet kiss on Peter’s forehead.
Peter stepped out of the car and the walk to your front door felt like an eternity. He stood, trembling in his black sneakers after he rang the doorbell. Your mother opened the door and pulled Peter into a big hug. “Oh, aren’t you just the cutest?” she exclaimed, letting Peter go.
“Nice to meet you, ma’am. I’m Peter,” he said exactly how he rehearsed it with May.
“Oh, please, call me (Y/M/N). I’ll go get (Y/N).” She patted his arm and left him standing in the entryway. He nervously looked around for a protective father.
“Peter, you look great!” you said, breaking his concentration. He looked up at you as you were coming down the stairs. His jaw dropped and he was certain he drooled a little. It was like a cheesy rom-com movie as he watched you walk down the stairs. The peach color of the dress complimented your skin perfectly. The dress, a simple halter-top design, hugged your body magnificently. Your hair was natural and the minimal make up you had put on made your eyes dazzle.
“You look amazing,” Peter breathed when you got to the bottom of the stairs. A blush rose to your cheeks.
“Thank you,” you whispered, stepping closer to him. A whiff of his cologne caught your attention. “You smell really good.”
It was Peter’s turn to blush as he nervously adjusted his tie. “Oh, this is for you,” he said, handing you the little box he was holding.
“You remembered!” she exclaimed, slipping the flower onto her wrist. “My friend is going with Flash and she texted me that he forgot it!”
Peter smirked and felt himself swell with pride. “Alright you two, get together so I can get pictures!” Now, without hesitation, Peter snaked his arm around your waist and held you close to his side. You wrapped your arm around his back, placing your other hand on his chest. After your mother put you two in several cheesy poses, she turned you loose. “Be safe and have fun!”
“Bye, ma, love you!” You quickly shut the door behind you two. In the back of May’s car, you answered every question May threw at you. As May kept talking to you, you noticed out of the corner of your eye that Peter was wringing his hands. Without really thinking, you slid your hand into one of his and gave it a squeeze. His hands were cold and a little clammy. You didn’t mind. He looked up at you with a sheepish smile. You beamed at him and gave his hand another squeeze.
Your hand didn’t leave his until you two had to get out of the car. “Thank you so much for the ride Ms. Parker,” you said.
“Please, sweetie, call me May. Have fun you two.” You stepped out of the car and before Peter could, May looked at him sternly and pointed a finger at him. “Not too much fun though. I don’t want to be a great-Aunt yet.”
“Jesus, May!” Peter said, shaking his head.
She laughed before shouting after him, “Love you, Peter!”
Peter waved to her and placed his hand at the small of your back as you two ascended the school steps. The thumping music of the bass affronted the pair of you as you stepped through the doors. It wasn’t long before you found Ned and Michelle who had came together as friends.
“That is definitely your color. It’s like a Georgia peach or a brooding sunset,” Michelle shouted over the music.
“Dude, what’s that smell?” Ned whispered into Peter’s ear, his nose crinkled.
“Cologne that May picked out. Girls really like it, I guess,” Peter said, shrugging his shoulders. Let’s Dance by David Bowie came on and you bounced with excitement.
You clutched Peter’s hand and shouted, “Let’s dance!” You dragged him onto the dance floor before he could protest. The night was going great. Any nerves that Peter had before hand were gone as he watched you dance with him. Your dazzling smile never left your face and one never left his. His skin burned every time he got to hold your waist and his heart fluttered.
As you slow danced with Peter to a Frank Sinatra song, your hands were draped over his shoulders and his large hands rested gently on your hips. His eyes never left yours except for the occasion that his gaze would wander to your lips. You reached up and played with the little curls at the nape of his neck. Quickly, you glanced around to make sure no chaperones were nearby. Slowly, you leaned towards Peter, your chest against his. His eyes fluttered close and so did yours. Your lips ghosted his before an explosion from one corner of the gymnasium shook the school.
You fell to the ground, Peter over top of you, protecting you from flying debris. “Are you okay?” he asked, breathless and clutching your arm. You nodded, looking towards the source of the explosion. A massive hole had been blasted into the wall. Through it stepped a large metal bird man.
It was the Vulture, a villain that Peter had been pursuing as of late. Unknown to Peter, the Vulture had recently found out Spidey’s identity. Peter stood in front of you protectively, facing the Vulture. A sickening laugh came from the man as he lunged at Peter. Peter effortlessly leaped out of the way. He shouldn’t have, however, because the Vulture wasn’t going for Peter, he was going for you.
A large metal claw clamped down around your arm and he began to drag you towards the hole. You screamed out in terror, trying to tear yourself from the claw’s grasp. Peter watched, stunned, as he dragged you away. “Peter, do something!” Ned shouted, holding onto a frightened Michelle.
Peter nodded and sprinted through the gaping hole, tearing off his suit. Luckily, he had worn his super-suit underneath it. He slipped on his mask and took off after the whirring sound of the Vulture’s wings.
You trembled in fear as the Vulture towered over you. He had released you on top of a very high building. The cool air made your dress flutter around wildly. “What... What do you want from me?” you asked, trying to sound bold.
The Vulture laughed and said in a raspy voice, “I don’t want anything from you. I want the Spider-Man.”
You shivered against the cold. You wanted the Spider-Man too. Where was he when you needed him?
“I’m right here, Vulture,” a young voice said from behind you. You looked over your shoulder to see the man in question. He was crouched on the building ledge, the eyes of his suit narrowed. “Are you okay?” he turned his attention on you, his voice soft and oddly familiar.
You simply nodded. The Vulture harshly pushed you out of the way as he stalked towards Spider-Man. You stumbled backwards, twisting your ankle in your heels. You collapsed to the floor and look back at the fight that was now ensuing. Spider-Man was dodging and weaving, being much quicker than the Vulture. Eventually, Spider-Man jammed one of the Vultures wing turbines and was working on another one. Seeing the risk, the Vulture bellowed in anger before flying up into the air.
Before anyone could really react, the Vulture swooped down towards you. You had just pulled yourself back to your aching feet but couldn’t avoid him in time. He gave you a harsh shove and in the blink of an eye, you felt yourself falling into nothing. You hadn’t realized how close you were to the edge of the building.
You screamed but stopped when something grabbed your hand. Your body stopped abruptly and your shoulder felt strained. You looked up to see what saved you. Spider-Man was hanging upside down from a web, his hand gripping yours. “Don’t worry, I’ve got ya,” he said softly.
You could only nod again, your voice all but gone. He slowly lowered you to the ground and you let out the breath you had been holding when your feet touched the solid ground. You winced as you stepped out of your heels and saw your already bruising ankle. Looking up, Spider-Man’s face was level with yours.
“Are you okay, (Y/N)?” he stopped himself before he finished your name but you hadn’t even noticed.
“Yes, thank you...” just then, a very familiar scent hit your nostrils. A soft smile spread across your face as it all clicked together. The reason the Vulture picked you, the familiar voice, now the familiar cologne. “..Peter.”
The suit’s eyes widened and Spider-Man shook his head. “I.. I don’t know...”
You placed your hands on Peter’s cheeks and chuckled. “Let me thank you properly, Peter,” you whispered as you slipped your fingertips under the seam of his mask. Carefully, you pulled the mask down and off of his face. His hair hung down in a mess and his face was flushed. His warm eyes were locked onto yours and were filled with relief, relief that you were okay.
Peter licked his lips as you began to lean towards him, picking up where you had left off on the dance floor. Your eyes fluttered shut and so did Peter’s. Gingerly, your soft lips met his chapped ones. They melded perfectly together. Your tummy tightened and your heart sped up as you smiled into the kiss. After the best 10 seconds of both of your lives, you pulled away and began to giggle. It had begun to rain as you were kissing him.
“Wow.. AAAH!!” Peter’s webbing gave way and he crashed to the ground at your feet.
“Oh my god! Peter, are you okay?” you asked, helping him to his feet. His was now very dirty. You reached your hand up and tried to wipe some of the dirt from his cheek but the rain turned it to mud so it smeared. You both laughed.
Peter wrapped his arms tightly around you and held you against his chest. “I’m so glad you’re okay,” he mumbled into your hair.
“I am too. That was.. so scary,” you mumbled back into his chest.
He cupped your cheeks in his gloved hands and tilted your face to look at him. “I’ll always be right here for you.” He harshly pressed his lips against yours again. Water dripped down both of your faces and your dress was ruined but you couldn’t imagine a more perfect moment.
A/N: So I kinda went off on this one and just couldn’t stop. I am so sorry that it is so long and it took so long to get out here!! I hope you liked it!! xx
