Been binge-watching the '03 show and it's re-ignited my hyper-fixation on one of my first OTPs as a kid.

Here we go! All of Twilight’s very important Huff Smiles. And his eyes are so light and lovely when he smiles like this! These are so special, directed only at the other Forgers.
Smiling at Bond. This man is ride or die for his dog.

Smiling at Anya. He loves his daughter and her cuteness. So fond! So soft!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smiling at Yor. My guy is besotted.

These little smiles have been so consistent throughout the manga and are just further proof that Twilight feels so much for his family. I can’t wait to see more smiles and the moments that make them. Also! Yor pointed out that he has a furrow in-between his brows when he’s stressed/thinking a lot. Maybe one day she will point out his light chuckle and smile, in that sweet teasing way she does. Maybe he will blush and get flustered. Maybe she will just keep it to herself and secretly cherish these little “heh” moments of his.

Like ik it's most reasonable to think the Buck-Maddie-Josh convo is about relationship struggles but like the last time i remember Buck wanting Josh's advice was Jinx when he was asking him about curse-breaking so I'm just saying gas leak unaware Buck hallucinating ghosts and being like i need to run to the closest Tarot Gay i know is just such a fun thought experiment

Funniest error ever in historical fiction TO ME as someone who is rlly into 18th century history is when an author obviously thinks "breeches" is just a fancy antiquated word for trousers. why are the breeches of a character in this book set in 1845 I'm reading allegedly brushing the tops of his shoes rn

okay new Arcane fanfic hot take: if you're doing a modern AU and Ekko is just a normal guy with a normal job, that's not Ekko. that is just a guy. if he's not at least doing mutual aid or some shit on the side ion recognize him. if he's not tryna overthrow the government at least a little then what pray tell is the point????

I just want to say I love when the ToA fandom does anything. It's always like that spider man meme in the tags/comments. It feels like we all live in one big town sometimes and you're all neighbors that I borrow sugar from on regular occasion. Like, yeah I know them!

Me whenever the lovely people of this fandom do anything at all: Y'all just so good at everything. Stop that. Please. Leave some talent for the rest of us.

hello!! this is a super random question and you don’t have to answer but how do you keep such a good track of the daredevil show timeline?? all of your fics are so coherent and seem to follow it amazingly well so i’m just wondering if you have any tips for that like it’s so noticeable how well you know the show when i reread trt and i really admire that :p
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO READ CAUSE THE DD TIMELINE IS INSANE, SO THANK YOU. I've spent more than one night tearing my hair out over it and that appears to have paid off! 😂
So I have two things I did in order to really track the Daredevil timeline.
1. In order to reference larger Marvel events along with other Defenders events, I use this timeline by gamesradar which has both the movies and the Defenders shows on a year by year timeline. This gave me a rough idea of gaps between seasons along with when other characters might pop up.
But more importantly,
2. I created my own Daredevil timeline that goes episode by episode. I did this by going through a series rewatch focused specifically on the timeline itself. Every time day shifted into night, I noted it. Matt waking up? That's a new day. Indicator via dialogue that it's been 2 days? Add that gap. Season reference like Ben mentioning in late S1 that it's getting colder (thus a sign that S1 takes place from at least early summer to fall)? That's written down. With this I could roughly track not only how much time passes in each episode, but I also was able to have a general idea of how long the individual seasons last. Doing this allowed me to weave my own plotline in and out of canon and construct a concurrent TRT events timeline in a way that feels like it fits! I even added some sections on Matt's injuries so I could track not just when he's hurt but his heal times. This is in addition to a quicknotes sort of guide I made for each episode so I could quickly double check my references without necessarily having to boot up Dis+. Obviously some canon gets changed in TRT but when I do change things, I make sure the goal of those canon scenes are still met, whether that's clues or foreshadowing.
Now granted, some parts of the canon timeline I quickly discovered are batshit. S2 is supposed to take place in the course of about 2 weeks, for example, which is WAY too fast for that big of a trial, and Matt's healing period in S3 is hilariously short. Those are moments I chose to take a crowbar to and stretch out a bit (in TRT, jury selection for Frank's trial, for example, no longer takes 2 days; now it takes a week, and the trial itself will be a bit longer than in canon), but because I had my timeline of events, I knew there was a long gap after Elektra's death (summer, roughly) and the little bit at the end of S2 where he goes to meet Karen with his mask (I think it's early winter, if I remember my timeline correctly). So that's kinda how I know where I can fiddle with the timeline while still ensuring it all flows coherently and doesn't ram into anything!

How cruel to name a child for the stars and bury him beneath the ground.
To allow a child to grow and live in his own tomb.
You called him "monster" and damned him to that fate. A child who is hungry will eat, and you sent him his brethren.
The starry one, dreaming of the night sky, his father from the heavens above looking down on him beneath the earth.
A child interred, wandering alone in an endless maze.
The prince of the Labyrinth, destined to die by the hand of a hero. The last act needed to condemn him to his title "monster".

re: the realm smp ao3 tag
i contacted ao3 staff about the realm tag and figured i'd give the info for anyone else who's curious! they said it'll be a while until they address it since the fandom is so new (understandable since they've got a lot of work to do), but in the meantime:
"[...] When it is handled, it will be made a synonym of Video Blogging RPF until at least ten unique taggers have used it on at least ten unique works. At the moment it appears there are seven unique taggers.  (Anonymous, orphan_account, and unrevealed works don't count.) [...]
After the tags have been synned to Video Blogging RPF, you can filter for The Realm SMP works by entering that phrase in the "Other Tags To Include" section of the filters, or (within quotation marks) in the Search Within Results field. Since this will only return works matching the precise word or phrase, not synonyms, it might be best to just enter the word Realm in the Search Within Results field."
while the fandom lingers in tag wrangling limbo for a bit, you can find works under The Realm SMP, Realm SMP (the only work there is unrevealed at this time), and The Realm. i'm going to keep tagging stuff as "The Realm SMP" but it's ultimately up to the writers what they wanna do, they'll all be under the same tag eventually!

I feel like the reason the average fan hates Valentino but likes Alastor is because of the old “anything involving SA is worse than murder” mindset. And I can see where that’s coming from—you have to live with this horrible thing that happened vs you no longer exist—and in Hell, death doesn’t seem to be a thing that sticks unless angelic steel or Alastor is involved, so SA would have more long-term effects than death. But I can’t say that holds up in the world of the living. Death is
pretty final. There isn’t anything that can be done after death.
Alastor was a serial killer in life, and I think it’s safe to say he wasn’t one of those “I killed three people so I’m technically a serial killer” types. His body count is at least in the double digits. And I feel like that isn’t taken as seriously as what Valentino does in Hell.
Alastor watched the life drain out of his victims’ eyes, and given what we know of him, he enjoyed it. He enjoyed killing his fellow human beings, enough to do it again and again and again. We don’t know how he killed his victims, but we do know he was already pretty good at torture when he arrived in Hell. So he was either fantasizing about it, or he actually did it.
There’s also the question of if he was a cannibal in life. Faustisse might have said otherwise, but they were wrong about his Overlord status—what else were they wrong about? And if he was a cannibal, then he wasn’t just leaving his victims’ corpses where he killed them. No, he was taking them with him and eating them. And, as a human, he couldn’t swallow bodies whole like he can in Hell. It would have taken time, effort, and planning. He would have had to think about which parts of a human being he’d like to consume.
Remember—Hell only changes three things once you get there:
1. Appearance
2. Power level (if you’re a Deal-maker)
3. What you can get away with
What Alastor does in the show—both off-screen and on-screen—is what he would have done in life if he’d had enough power and could get away with it. He’s essentially living his greatest fantasy in Hell—he can do whatever he wants without fear of consequences.
As I’ve said before, Valentino and Alastor are both monsters, but in different ways.
No, I’m not dunking on fans that like Alastor—I’m a huge fan of him myself, and he’s my #1 babygirl. But I want to see him act more violently in fanfiction, live up to his reputation, and show the denizens of Hell (and the reader) why he’s so feared. Write him torturing an Overlord. Describe what he does to his victims in detail. We’ve already seen him swallow someone whole—write what that might look like from the victim’s perspective.
Write Alastor as something to be terrified of. Write Alastor as the Radio Demon. Write Alastor as what he is without destroying who he is.
He’s still Alastor. He’s just also a walking nightmare.
