And this scene is MASTERFUL. The power dynamics are so clear. Tevye swings from celebration to dread in an instant. The horror that this man who says he likes him is also willing to commit violence against Tevye and his community--is going to. The gratitude that he gave Tevye a warning, even if he won't go against orders. Damn.
Fiddler's juxtaposition of life and joy to harsh times and persecution is woven throughout the story and this scene is a clear demonstration.

I think the hardest thing for me to come to terms with this past year is how very little I really understood people.
I believe deeply in human rights, in dignity and equality for all, in compassion and caring for one’s fellow human beings, in justice and peace. I naively thought that the organisations and political movements I respected and followed honestly did the same.
Instead, in doing what my head and my heart have told me is moral and right has had me lose friends, receive appalling abuse, told to kill myself, called a dumb cunt genocide supporter, all from so called “social justice activists.” There is nothing, NOTHING just or peaceful or compassionate in celebrating rape, and torture, and murder, and proudly calling for the destruction of a tiny, beleaguered, and grieving people. It’s profoundly, deeply sick. The radicalisation of so many to follow and celebrate evil, monstrous people who have committed evil, monstrous acts has been the ugliest thing I’ve ever witnessed.
I was incredibly naive and idealistic a year ago, until I saw celebration and justification of a fucking pogrom on my dash. And over the last months, as I’ve seen the fact that I, as a goy, giving a shit about Jewish lives is apparently an outlier, as evidenced by the *so many* messages I’ve gotten thanking me for basic human compassion, I am wide awake. I see very clearly that the lip service paid to condemning antisemitism from most people is just that and nothing more and it makes me so angry, and sad.

So I'm going to reblog this for links but I feel it has to be said the op is deleting comments, ignoring recent things Gaiman has said and just completely blowing off people pointing out screaming something like this you can search up for yourself and see that maybe this one is a little more complex than "your favorite author wants to murder children" when he's said repeatedly Palestine deserves to be its own country, but since its in the same sentence a lot of time with "Israel has a right to exist" which yeah thats a debatable stance ofc but I question why you would shoot at a well known Jewish author on Tumblr instead of writing and calling politicians or just stumping charities.
Because like even if its just "I used his name so people would see these very necessary go fund mes" the way ya went about it feels idk a bit antisemitic.
Neil Gaiman is a Zionist, btw.
#i dont know how to tell ya this my fellow goy#but a lot of Jewish people have very muddy views on this#things that will not be black and white#target the us politicans#target the armies#target the media who goes out of its way to pull some bullshit#and maybe dont delete a ton of comments calling you out for antisemitism#and then be all like ahah got you now see these charities

Im feeling incredibly grumpy right now and im gonna rant about something real quick I’ve seen in a lot of Jewish online spaces but Reddit is really the biggest space I’ve seen this in.
Routinely gentiles go into a Jewish subreddit and they go “hey I’m a goy, and *I* think antisemitism sucks. I hate how you guys are treated!” And then everyone stops and throws this person a parade of congratulatory thank yous and praises for not being a bigot, and being *such* a good ally (and of course tons of upvotes)
I honestly am getting so sick of my fellow Jews falling all over themselves to heap praises on someone for doing the absolute bare minimum in not being a dick. We need allies, yes. We have precious few of them. And if you are an ally, you know exactly who you are.
But you don’t need to tell us you’re our ally. We need you to actually *show the fuck up*.
Are you shutting down antisemitism *when* (not if) you hear it from someone in your own community? Educating the people in your own communities? In person and on social media? Are you uplifting our voices? Are you actually listening to us? Are you pointing people to *Jewish* resources to learn more about Jews and antisemtism? Are you using your privilege to help us? Are you opening yourself up to potential hate and backlash because you’re doing this? Are you doing the very real work of unpacking the antisemitism that is absolutely baked into Eastern and Western Cultures? (Antisemitism is rampant fucking everywhere. We ALL have work to do to unpack and unlearn it) Are you sitting down and shutting up and letting us speak on our own experiences?
Are you *actually* an ally, or are you content to just come into our spaces and demand thanks for not actively wishing us dead, but not actually doing a damn thing to stop the people in your communities from harming us? Do you actually want to help or do you just want “ally” points?
There are amazing gentile allies here on Tumblr and elsewhere. In real life and on social media. They are people I know personally and people I’ve only ever seen online. They are amazing people who are actually doing the work. Not just for our community, but for all marginalized people.
But they are allies because it’s the right thing to do. Not because they want the brownie points.
Basically…Put up, or shut up.
Edit: this is okay to reblog!, Goyim, do not add any goydacity to this post.
#jumblr#personal#ranting#Jewish allies#jewish solidarity#are you actually working to be a good ally or are you just wanting praise?

we've got long memories
I am not the least bit surprised by any of the tidal wave of antisemitism the left has spewed since October 7th. Every single post saying Hamas did nothing wrong; every single targeted attack on my fellow Jewish people on this site; the number of people who proudly paraded misinformation and disinformation to the extent of funding organizations actual Palestinians have said outright don't help them in any way just because it's against Israel which means that it must be good. None of this is surprising to me.
Now, maybe you could say that I'm a cynical bastard, and you'd be right. But you'd also completely be missing why I'm a cynical bastard. I learned this from my mother, who was beaten up just for being Jewish as a child. I learned this from family who disappeared between my ancestors fleeing the countries they came from and looking to see who made it with them. I learned this from the story of one of my grandfathers picking a new birthday because his birth certificate had been burned when the Shul was destroyed so he had no idea when it was. I learned this from people using "Jewish" as an insult in school and watching a girl I knew break down in tears because people were calling her a Jew when she wasn't. I learned this from holiday after holiday that repeated the same verse of people trying to destroy us and us celebrating our survival.
We remember these things because the rest of the world is very good at deliberately forgetting them.
"It's not that bad because it happened to the Jews. It's not an actual problem because Jews are white anyway. Was the Holocaust really even so terrible? Why do you want to be oppressed so badly if not to use it as a weapon against people who you're oppressing yourselves?"
Some variety of every single one of those is something I've seen in recent memory.
So, dear Passionate Goy Internet Leftists who have spent the last few months attacking and accosting every single Jewish person who dares to speak on the issue in any way that doesn't make them a Good Jew?
My dear friend, just know that we will remember you. You can try to go back to normal. You can try to just sweep it under the rug. You can try to act like it was all just business as usual and there was no harm done to any "Good Jews" and just to the "Evil Zionists" (both of which deserve their own rant post and have multiple of them from people a lot smarter than I am).
We will remember what you did
You will never be able to make us forget you calling for our deaths
And most of all, we will outlive you, just like everyone else who ever bayed for our blood

Goy here, what really got me, even before I learnt about even a tiny fraction of Israel/Palestine history, was a Jewish person could say something like: “hey, that’s antisemitic rhetoric, please don’t say shit like that” and my fellow goyim would simply just say…. “No. It’s not antisemitism. You don’t even know what that is.”
Like how are you going to tell a Jewish person what antisemitism is? I just don’t understand!
Or how in response to criticism from Jewish people, my fellow goyim will say… “Zionism isn’t Judaism so you have absolutely no reason to upset unless you’re an UNDERCOVER ZIONIST!!! REVEAL YOURSELF!”
Like sure, definition wise, Zionism isn’t Judaism, but it literally stems from it. Zionism stems from Jewish people not being safe. That’s why it such a popular belief within the Jewish community and to ignore the root cause of modern Zionism just to spread your “Jews are actually white supremacists” fantasy is simply going to make Zionism MORE POPULAR AMONG JEWISH PEOPLE.
Like how are you going to turn around and tell Jewish people about their own religion/culture???? These are the same people who appropriate stuff like Kabbalah but hate everything to do with Jewish people.
so many time i can tell a person is trying to get a point across that isn’t inherently antisemitic, but they end up employing antisemitic logic and talking points, and people will try to gently correct them and be like “hey, I know you mean well, but that’s nazi rhetoric/a dogwhistle so maybe just rephrase it” and the person SNAPS. they get so fucking defensive so quick. it’s a miracle if they don’t double down and lean into the antisemitism in spite of the people correcting them. then it’s “oh so you’re a zionist??” and “you’re just being paid by zionists to say that!” yes, zionists are paying random twitter users you considered friends for years to tell you the nazi rhetoric you’re spewing is nazi rhetoric JUST to upset you and derail the true message of “free palestine” in your “grass them all” and “hitler was right” tweets. that’s exactly it. 🤡
where is all this zio money?? how do i sign up to receive my portion? leftists call me a (((zionist))) multiple times a day, so where’s my evil jewish money? I have bills to pay

It crossed my mind lately that these zionist blocklists remind me a lot of the McCarthyism of 1950s America, where people suspected of being communists were blacklisted from finding work in their industry. Now obviously it’s not a one for one match, but the paranoia and suspicion are very similar. Though I am a goy, I’ve always been kind of uncomfortable with my fellow goyim using the word zionist to label others, especially this past year. There’s a lot of history to who has lived in the Levant, and honestly maybe goyim in America shouldn’t be making decisions about that or deciding what zionism means. These are very strange times. Wishing you the best, Cecil.
Dear anon,
you're saying what Jews have said for a year now. For a side that has been claiming we became our own oppressors these tankies faux communists are sure acting like McCarthy
"here’s a lot of history to who has lived in the Levant, and honestly maybe goyim in America shouldn’t be making decisions about that or deciding what zionism means." Thank you!
The next step is to call your fellow goyim "basically McCarthy" or "fucntionally right wing" is you're willing to do more for Jews than distance yourself from the hamasnik movement
wishing you the best as well anon
Cecil

Steaight up not forgetting how antisemitic my fellow goy were since oct 7th.
Shit even before that.
But this is such a repeatedly disgusting display of fellow non jews, being cruel and heartless to so many innocent civilians and dispora jews.
You guys won't learn the definition of a word that's older than most of you.
You won't have sympathy for those who aren't pro genocide, but don't want to come out dead or rejacted from what is also their homeland by the end
You guys couldn't find nuance here if I circled it with a big neon red flashing sign that says the word.
If you think saying shit like "Zionist will claim even any object as antisemitic if you let them get away with it." is normal and doesn't scream a fucking dogwhistle where that op is desperate to replace that word with jews, than you're an idiot and need to unfollow me right the fuck now.
I am tired of people not seeing what's a basic formatted dogwhistle and then the post habing thousands of notes.

It takes like 3 minutes at most to find the origins of the term antisemitism. I know I posted about it before. The guy who popularised the term was Wilhelm Marr. It was always about hating Jews. Jewish people didn't co-opt it. Marr always meant for it to be against Jews.
Wilhelm Marr wanted a term to refer that differed from "Judenhass" because Judenhass implied that if people converted to Judaism they could escape the hatred. Wilhelm Marr wanted to be clear that he hated anyone who had Jewish ancestors regardless of their own beliefs. He wanted them dead because he considered Jews a "racial" contamination. The League of Antisemites (founded by Wilhelm Marr) was solely about how much they hated Jews as a race.
You can't "co-opt" the term if it was always about you. Anyone implying it ever referred to hating anyone other than Jews are in fact the co-opters.
I hate these history distorters & deniers. I'm not Jewish, I just follow historical evidence & facts. The historical evidence shows that the Shoah happened, it shows antisemitism was always about hating Jews. It shows the excuses for every pogrom I bothered to read the excuse for were completely idiotic (Jews can't control the weather nowadays, let alone 800 years ago. The Mongol Invasions weren't the Jews fault, how the f--- did you get that idea. No you medieval idiots, more of you caught the Black Death because you're unsanitary fools & Jewish people practice basic hygiene, the solution is to adopt basic hygiene, not kill more Jews. I wish these three weren't actual "reasons" that cost people their lives, but apparently most humans are moron). It shows that Jewish names for cities in Israel are far older than Arab names because with the exception of Ramla (Hebrew "Ramle", Arabic "ar-Ramlah") & Tel Aviv, all of these cities predate Arab colonisation of Israel (because Arabs aren't the natives, Jewish people are) & with the exception of Tiberias (founded by Roman colonists), these were all founded by Jews or their Canaanite ancestors (thanks DNA for pushing back their origins even further). Also Tel Aviv was founded by Jews on a greenfield site, so it post-dating Arab conquests still doesn't matter.
tw for antisemitism, Holocaust mention, this post is pretty bad - you don’t have to look at it ik you’re tired but it’s a good example of the antisemitism on this site rn

goyim are so fucking stupid god damn.

An Interview with Jester Lavorre of the Mighty Nein
Warnings: cursing, mentions of sexual endeavors, mentions of death, and spoilers up until C3 Ep111.
A/N: Well this idea forced itself upon my brain after @chiakery made this request:
Jester's commentary on BH couples as she talks with Beau/Fjord/Sprinkle or just straight up goes to people in question, no filter (just like we love her) making them blush like mad/speak in innuendo with her/whatever feels right.
I know it's not exactly what you asked for, I'm sorry 😭 but this idea just took a hold of me and I knew I had to run with it. I hope you enjoy it anyways! I'll be including a part two with headcanon reactions from each couple.
I felt like after saving the world in a very public way, the Mighty Nein won't be able to stay as low-key as they used to be. But still weren't as like publicized as probably VM or BH. So I feel like Jester did this interview because she personally just loved this publication and wanted to be a part of it. So she found a way around that loll enjoy!
Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing an interview we just had with a very special guest: Jester Lavorre, Saviour of Exandria, Slayers of the Mind Weave, and Sapphire of the 5 Seas.
We're so lucky here at The Knowsy Cat to have an exclusive interview with one of the elusive members of the Mighty Nein. Known to avoid media and any sort of public attention, we were fortunate to have received an acceptance for an interview with Ms. Lavorre, soon to be Mrs. Tusktooth, an inside scoop we received from the woman herself.
But you can read more about that below.
The following is a full transcript from that conversation:
Ms. Lavorre! Thank you so much for agreeing to an interview with us. Your group is a hard one to catch on anyone's radar it seems. Any reason for that?
Well, first of all it's soon to be Mrs. Tusktooth thank you very much. But you can just call me Jester.
Congratulations! Is Mr. Tusktooth a part of your group or someone from back home perhaps? I don't recognize the name from any of our files.
Oh he's very very handsome and very sweet. And you can call him Captain Tusktooth, he has his own ship you know.
A Captain! Well, what a fine catch it seems. Then is he not of the Mighty Nein then, but simply a Captain of a ship?
Well why couldn't he be both?
Oh, I don't mean to offend! I'm just asking for clarification is all.
You know, so many people don't know I'm a First Mate of the ship! They just know me as the Savior of Exandria blah blah, but I do a lot of the pulling of anchors, and opening the sails, you know ship stuff. I'm very very strong. Like this one time, I had to carry this huuge minotaur named Braius out of a battle, and like he was super big you know? And I lifted him over my shoulders no problem!
Braius? Do you mean Braius Doomseed, Nascent Might of the Platinum's Call?
Yeah, yeah! That's him. Great artist, you should really check out his work. He draws some sexy stuff, if you know what I mean.
Oh we've seen it! He's become a pretty renown artist in Zadash it seems. Do you still talk to any of the Bells Hells, fellow saviors of Exandria?
Oh all the time! Like there's this girl Fearne who's a super hot fae, and I mean SUPER hot. She's made of fire and like can get really big, it's craazy. I talk to her all the time, she's so funny. Or I talk to the creepy spider lady, but usually through her girlfriend who I guess is kind of whatever. She does mind stuff too but like boring mind stuff.
Do you mean Imogen Temult and Laudna? Are they an item?
The BIGGEST item. They're like attached at the hip and constantly fucking. It's a bit awkward at first you know, having just met and everyone was sleeping like right next door to eachother. But the end of the world can make people do crazy stuff so who am I to judge!
How about Ms. Calloway? Is she currently involved with anyone?
I mean, she's kind of together with Ashton who's totally her other half you know? They got this hot, Titan thing going on. But she always tells me she's all about spreading her legs to fly, so they have an "open relationship." Like she had a threesome with the old wolf man from her group and his ex one time and they did some wild shit together let me tell you, [redacted for explicit content].
Wow! I-I did not expect such... Explicit details. And this was former member Chetney Pock O'Pea, High Hunter and Lupine Paragon?
Yeah, it was like really sad of course that he died but we all knew it was gonna happen. And he died like real hero stuff, fucked shit up for Ludinus that's for sure. But Orym is still super sad about it, I think it might've been his dad or something I don't know. But he's also such a softie, even though he's totally only showing his super softie side to Dorian.
Dorian Storm, the Heir to the Silken Squall? The union between he and Orym of the Air Ashari was all we could talk about for weeks! Were they involved then, during the Red Divide?
Oh my gosh, they were sooo in love with each other when we first met, but apparently they had like not even kissed yet! I remember I woke up at 3am cause someone was snoring super loud, and I was like "ugh, I'm soo bored, I can't sleep now" so I got up and drew in my journal a while but then the Traveler was like "go do some funny stuff!" So I decided to draw dicks on some people's faces and went to the room across from me and there they were! Snuggling each other! It was soooo sweet, so I was going to draw matching dicks on them you know? To make it romantic, of course. But then Orym opened his eyes and gave me a very scary look so I didn't. I ended up drawing them on the wolf man instead. But the next morning the two of them came out all shy and awkward, and Dorian was turning purple from blushing so hard. But then Braius came around with the literal most beautiful painting I have ever seen! Of Orym! Can you believe it? And Dorian was like freaked out, so he grabbed Orym's hand, stood in front of the painting to cover it and declared his love for Orym to the whole group. He was all like "I'm in love with Orym so like back off okay" and Braius totally did after that.
So there was a love triangle between the three of them?
I mean, Braius kind of hit on everyone back then so it wasn't a super weird thing. But Dorian was very not into it, which I totally get you know. I'm very protective of my Tusktooth and he's very hot so obviously everyone would want him. Dorian's the same.
So Braius Doomseed is a man about town then?
Well I heard he had a thing going on with Fearne and Ashton, but he also had a thing going on with Fearne's Nana which is like, okay a bit weird even for me. But now I think he settled down with an old flame of his.
Talking about marriage, any details you can share about your nuptials with Mr. Tusktooth?
Well it's going to be in this really big fancy estate with like 3 ballrooms and 30 bedrooms, so we can invite a lot of our friends you know. And I'm going to have a cupcake cake that's in the shape of me and his face, maybe like a blueberry cupcake or chocolate, or both. And then my mom is going to have a dress made for me that's like from this really famous designer, which they used to make all of my mom's dresses so I know it'll be really good.
That sounds incredible. We hope you'll maybe share some photos with us in the future?
Maybe!
Well, thank you for your time Jester. It's been an absolute pleasure. Anything else you want to tell our audience before we go?
I know gods are like super weird for everyone right now, but The Traveler is a really cool guy who's kind of like a god, but not. He's very powerful and nice and he likes to have a lot of fun. Here, I have a pamphlet you can share with your readers!
Unfortunately at this time, the pamphlet was not able to be printed along with this issue.

I’m married to a goy.
I love my wife and she loves me. I’d go so far as to say we love each other’s respective cultures (Jewish/Hindu). We’ve supported each-other through the respective bigotries of our “fellow Americans” in the US.
But everything about the I/P conflict stresses me tf out. It stresses me out because I know she’s on tiktok way way way more than me. I already know she’s exposed to mountains and mountains of misinformation in our leftist spaces. Misinformation that has and could easily lead to my death or the death of my community members. I do what I can to pick my battles where I may, and I’ve had successes, but I mourn the ones I cannot.
I mourn that I don’t believe I could convince her the I/P conflict is not an extension of White Oppressor /Brown or Black Oppressed.
I mourn that I don’t believe I could convince her of what “Zionism” is. It hurts me when I hear her say “X celebrity is a Zionist, Y celebrity signed this letter” when I know for a fact almost none of those celebrities knows a damn thing about Zionism. Zionism to her is tanks and bulldozers mowing down Palestinians in a colonial genocide, Zionism to me is… less relevant ? The state of Israel exists and thus the goal has been achieved. But hearing people called Zionists? Yeah that makes my heart twinge.
And most of all I mourn that even though I know we agree on the solution to the conflict is peaceful coexistence and not constant war… the people who make up the spaces she’s exposed to do not all feel the same. I cannot waste time on proving each one of these bad faith actors are in bad faith.
It was hard enough to convince her the Super Bowl-Rafah timing was ridiculous when media has been out about Israel’s planned attack for days. And that the “Stop Jewish Hate” ad was not to distract from anything, because it wasnt even funded by Israel. Also your husband has had to take down blood libel posters from outside his graduate school, our street, his work, and even 10 feet from where we voted in the last election. (Grand total: over 20 posters)
So like… this ad is necessary.
Oy vey. 😅😅😂
Stay strong Yidden, our Allies and loved ones can test us, but we cannot become isolationist and retreat in the face of a challenge. That’s how the bastards win.
We will outlive them.

I've said this before but it does bear repeating - I've always known antisemitism existed, of course - in a standard goy, frankly naive, "this doesn't really affect me" way. I learned about the Holocaust in school, always been pretty aware of the double standards surrounding Israel, but I was also certain I knew I wasn't antisemitic, so didn't give it much thought. Until the last few months.
I started doing a lot of reading and learning and listening to Jewish voices in the wake of my disgust at the overall leftist reaction to Oct. 7 and I have been bowled over and utterly appalled at the sheer scale and insidiousness of the way antisemitism is baked into the very foundations of Western society. As a goy I would have sworn upside down I'd never had an antisemitic thought or belief in my life. And while consciously that may certainly be true, the process of unlearning centuries of unconscious extremely prevalent prejudice is not a straightforward one and the only way to do it in good faith is listen and learn.
That's why I do not trust fellow goyim who are so adamant that they know exactly what antisemitism is and isn't and know for a fact that they aren't - because the deeply insidious nature and long, long history of antisemitism means it is almost impossible to live and grow up in Western society (obviously antisemitism exists elsewhere but as a Westerner that's the experience I'm talking to) without being influenced in some way by it.
If a Jewish person tells you you are being antisemitic, sit down, shut up, swallow your pride and your indignation, and LISTEN AND LEARN.
#antisemitism#i couldn’t be more grateful to the many jewish bloggers on this site i’ve learned from#you are amazing

As a goy, I keep wondering why do so many goyim suck so much. The image creator is literally treating the prospect of another Shoah as if it's a bloody Christmas gift.
For any ignorant goy who is under any delusions that a one-state solution with Hamas in charge ends in anything other than another Shoah, just read Hamas original charter, listen to their own words of how they would like to repeat October 7th until every Jew in Israel is dead.
Yes, it sucks that some civilians die in the fight to eliminate Hamas but by the standards of war, this isn't so bad. Right now, there are just over 20,000 dead (assuming we can trust Hamas figures, I'm sure someone has already posted on why that's not a good assumption) represent less than 1% of the pre-war population of 2.5 million. This is actually pretty low by the standards of war & especially so for one primarily fought in an urban area.
Moreover this is in 3 months of fighting. For quick comparisons to WW2 (because I know WW2 figures better than some of the more recent stuff) Dresden lost 25,000 civilians in 3 days of bombing. Japan lost 4% of its pre-war population & Germany lost 6% of its ethnic German population in WW2 (a lot of figures of Germany's population loss include Shoah victims, & are thus higher, as in over 8% high. I figured it made sense to not include that higher number as I'm making the point that what's happening in Gaza isn't genocide, so only ethnic German deaths, not the Shoah victims who lived in Germany).
So Option 1 = The image creator is an ignorant fool who doesn't understand anything about Hamas. Option 2 = The image creator has no clue how war works & is severely overreacting to a honestly lower than expected civilian casualty rate that has being blown out of proportion by antisemitic media. Option 3 = The image creator knows all the facts & is just a massive antisemite who revels in the chance to go mask off.
Honestly, if the past 3 months have shown me anything, it's that Option 3 is probably correct.
I found it. The most goyishe post on the internet.
#please fellow goy just stop with the pogrom baiting please#i stand with israel#antisemitism#fuck hamas#hamas are pretty open about being genocidal#denying that a Hamas victory would mean another Shoah is idiotic#i am ashamed of my fellow goyim
