What is your faviourte thing about Outlander?

I’ve been pondering this for a while and I think my favorite thing is how multifaceted and layered it is.

It’s historical fiction, but it’s also SciFi. It’s filled with drama and there’s quite a lot of violence, but soft, tender moments are woven in with such dexterity too.

It’s been seven-ish years since I started watching and reading Outlander and I still discover new things every time I rewatch/reread. And I know I will for years to come, even after the last episode has wrapped and aired.

i like the difference between benedick’s and john’s approaches to pedrazar in “aftermath.” ben is being mother ben and doing “repeat after me” type stuff and just ends up making balthazar angry. john doesn’t condescend to balthazar and even suggests that him leaving might be the best thing he could do for his and peter’s relationship. which ends up being true, go john. i like that we can see how john’s past brushes with problematic behavior have turned him into someone who can relate to and offer truly good advice for these uncomfortable and less than pretty situations, whereas ben (although he of course means well and loves these guys) is still just operating from a place of “these two just need to get over it and get together already and that will solve everything,” ignoring all potential complexity/nuance. which like also, that exact mindset totally backfires on him with regards to beatrice too, right? good stuff
