PART 2 of "looking at all the times datz says something gay or familial that drives me crazy." i guess?! should look at part 1 if you havent yet

soj spoilers ahead obvs. part 1 here in case u missed it

i skipped A LOT between the last post and now, bc datz doesn't show up for. a while. Well like he does a little bit but it's not gay or anything. it doesn't matter. what matters is that we're back in khura'in now, we're apollo now, and athena is here

and um, dhurke is arrested for murder. lol. but talking to athena in one of those "what to do" segments gets this.......

which up until this point i haven't actually seen yet. the noise i made. DATZ HAVING A HEART ATTACK? IM GONNA HAVE A HEART ATTACK!!! WWAAAHHH!! :(!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!! THINK ABOUT DATZ SCARED OUT OF HIS MIND FOR DHURKE'S SAFETY. THINK ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! i don't exactly know what "wanted datz to go to him" means exactly. go to dhurke? well it doesnt matter i guess. cus the way they know damn well datz would freak out and try to bust dhurke out of jail...Sniffle... Sob........ i love datz so much.... loyalest man alive fr dont play with me

and then a Lot more bullshit happens, but good news;

theyre at the defiant dragons hideout again ^_^ with the photos ^_^ if you investigate them, you get this! here comes datz jumping at the chance to talk abt his (friend's) family again. the day WEEEEEEEEEE all went out fishing. shut up. WE!!! i always knew datz was there, in my heart, taking the photo... earlier, dhurke says "the three of us [dhurke, aj, yuty] living in the mountains", but clearly datz came by often enough. WE! WE WENT FISHING! WEEE!!! its just so easy to imagine... datz insisting they take a photo .. i cant take it... how many times was datz there. fishing w them. helping cook dinner and dealing w two rambunctious boys...crying

he also takes the chance to be hurt over yuty again.. datz has a lot to say about nahyuta.

investigating the sign [sic] gives datz a chance to geek about how cool dhurke is. "his fame as a lawyer spread far and wide!" i'm sure that's how they intended for datz knows about dhurke's lawyer days, but again, i like to believe datz was his weirdgirl. he probably was the advertising campaign if we're honest 😭

now we're talking to datz directly again ^_^ asking him about the sahdmadhi law offices. "and i quote" is so annoying. i know he's doing a deep voiced impression of dhurke right there. Stop memorizing shit he says. Gay

then! he says dhurke mentioned he wants apollo to take over the offices one day...which cute and whatever, but this isnt abt dhurke's dadliness, this is about datz being such a FUCKING GEEK! he's talking to dhurke directly, right, so why are you gassing him up 😭😭 TO HIMSELF! HE'S DHURKE! "must've been because of you, dhurke!" he's too much of a good friend. he's convinced everyone thinks dhurke is as cool as He thinks dhurke is. it's insane. the fanboy behavior will never end

it's nice to see dhurke and datz interact too. we really don't see much of that in this game. dhurke always seems kind of understated with datz as compared to when he's being Boisterous Dad or Rebel Leader in public... how many quiet moments did they share together... just sharing news and shooting the shit...dhurke doesn't have to put on big leader charisma 'cause datz uplifts him no matter what. Gay

well, it's obvious why he knows that. (asking him about nahyuta obviously) actually it isnt that much. but it's so funny. him being a hypeman for both sahdmadhis is so cute... and also him seeming frustrated that he doesn't know Why yuty is acting this way...'cause he cares :( he cares for his yuty :( CAUSE HE HELPED RAISE THAT DAMN KID!

ill smack dhurke rn he pisses me off so bad sometimes. datz is out here worrying over YOUR CHILD! and you're leaving him out to dry :( datz really loves that family...thinking about him trying to nudge answers out of dhurke, but respecting his boundaries all the while...GRRRRRR he's too good for you dhurke. you need to treasure what you have

asking datz about apollo's biological father leads to another Datz Exposition Dump in which i lose my mind bc he remembers too much about this fucking family. it's almost like he cares for them or something. "dhurke's the kinda guy who can become%$^%&#$%^" THIS ISNT ABOUT DHURKE QUIT GUZZLING HIM FOR 5 SECONDS! STOP!

this part is key to me cause, again, WEEEEEEE. *WE!* it proves that datz had been friends with dhurke before anything happened... a lot of his Datz Yapping could have just been recited stories, stuff he knew secondhand, but being close enough with dhurke to help him look for an orphaned baby's mother While fending off accusations of terrorism..... it's key. real ones get it. it isnt just "oh datz is a family friend" it's "datz was there at the beginning of everything". before the dragons started at all! presenting dhurke's law book gets this. not explicitly dhurke guzzling rly but idgaf. I also refuse it being metaphorical. give datz a gay chest tattoo. anyways so i finished the first four chapters of yakuza 0 last night/early this morning if youre picky. initial thoughts (this will not be organized in any sort of way)

gameplay is very fun its honestly impressive how much love was poured into this game. like all the minigames alone are crazy but also just like the little details like how you can bump into the background characters on the street and theyll like complain lol

i also really appreciate the fight difficulty as somebody who 1) does not play video games and 2) is working with a laptop and a touchpad with no buttons LOL its enough to be challenging without being like rage quit levels of frustrating

personally im still in camp "nishikiyama killed that guy" on top of pre-existing reasons of "dont recall seeing this guy on my twitter for you page" and "it would be a really dramatic reveal" if we've already got that majima's current plotline's basis is that he threw his sworn brother under the bus against his will/outside of his control then it would parallel/contrast pretty well with kiryu getting thrown under the bus by his sworn brother in currently unknown circumstances. im like at least 70% confident in this being the case but like puh LEASEEEEE no spoilers or hints

entirely unrelated but i made my oatmeal with not enough water and now i lowkey dont want to eat the rest. but we suffer through it

frankly i dont trust the real estate guy whos name escapes me at the moment at all and i think its kind of insane that kiryu does Like ok so he knows a bunch of stuff and has the pocketwatch...... But we've already established that this guy's network is like unparalleled so knowing a bunch of stuff really isnt proof he's besties with your dad and the pocketwatch could be stolen. but to be fair its not like kiryu's particularly swimming in options anyways

majima's entire situation is insanely funny They put that man in customer service.

but seriously im actually incredibly interested to see where this is going im kind of crazy about (what appears to be so far) his insane suicide plan to rejoin the yakuza so that when his sworn brother, under the impression that he bailed on him last minute, breaks/gets out of prison he will be able to find majima and take revenge by killing him and put the man out of his misery. Presumably because this is the only way he can think of to resolve this whole situation. which is of course insane and im crazy about it. But who knows maybe im entirely confused on what the situation is so we shall wait and see

i seriously odnt want to eat this oatmeal anymore its cold now :(

im VERY curious to see where the situation with this girl is going to go because like okay obviously hes not going to kill her. We went through way too much hassle just to kill her now but also like Well he doesnt really have options going for him at the moment. like the fact that she's got a Kill By deadline aside he's got literally no way to hide her since he has no friends, hiding her at his house would be insane, and. wait could you imagine if he employed her at his club. which would be so absolutely bonkers it might honestly work. like the fact that she's blind does bring into account some logistical difficulties if nothing else that its a pretty. Well distinct and recognizable feature of hers. but still

umm hi hi!! Sorry i hope this isnt weird but the other day I stumbled upon your evil little misters au video on youtube (called scarlet swap i think??) and i wanted to ask you about it bc im genuinely interested, if its ok could you talk more about it? :3 (its ok if you dont want to tho!)

oh i would LOVE to talk about it anon. rest is under read more tho becuz its a lot..

basically its the whole idea of "what if mr redd never got influenced by the scarlet king, but instead the other misters did?" ive got a few ideas for them, my favorites being scarlet stripes and scarlet sweetie. stripes basically has his whole eye thing turned up to 100 and now has eye beams that when charged up expunges someone out of reality and makes people forget they ever existed.

sweetie on the other hand just wants to turn the world into candy X ) the candy monsters she makes arent really dumb like they are in her article. they have a lot more intelligence and are just basically strong people made out of candy. i have a few design ideas for the candified misters actually... ill put a little doodle here... i think theyre cool

theres also the idea that mr redd is coincidentally always a "survivor" in this au. like some of the misters will be taken out kinda like how redd took out all the "Tale of Mr. Collector" misters but in scarlet swap its some of the main listers because i think its cool i have other basic ideas for the other misters which are

chameleon basically freaks the fuck out and ends up exploding like a firework and blinds everybody and does scarlet king magic to melt their brains (basically scarlet king meets the day breaks but not all the time), leaving redd and brass as the two main survivors because redd coincidentally left right before the "big bang" and brass is a robot and is unaffected by chameleon's base power

mr hungry but always in trance mode but like in the way mr hungry is in "the real adventures of capitalism". i like to think this one ends in him eating the entire world

mr fish turns into Poseidon and, after years of being the butt of the joke, turns into a big bad king and takes over the world with his army of fish (this is basically just splatoon but in scp)

mr brass becomes the broken god. like the mekhanites (? i still admittedly dont know a good bit about the church) completely throw away their faith for the real broken god and instead start worshipping brass solo. this is just a big ploy in order to get them to worship the scarlet king though and it ends up with the scarlet king taking over the world because of how prevalent the church is. also fun fact; scarlet swap brass looks more like pre-rewrite because they ripped off his face-plate to show his "natural beauty" lol

mr money takes over MC&D and becomes a capitalist akin to whatever the fuck the factory was doing in "this toy facsimile of life"

mr headless is the headless horseman and is more like his "Tales of" counterpart. i like to think hes kinda like TF2 pyro in this one hehe. he doesnt know hes killing people by cutting their heads off

mr forgetful is the only scarlet swap that is completely "innocent." he doesnt want to hurt people but everyone who looks at him or touches him gets their brain completely wiped clean and put into his own memory. this ends up with stripes sacrificing himself by censoring out forgetful's face and leaving forgetful the only little mister left. i took a bit of inspo from twisted glisten from dandys world for him :3

mr smiles realizes his dad isnt coming back and gets pissed off and uses mr redd to bust out of his maze. he then goes on a bloodthirsty rampage trying to find his father and the guy who put the rust in him so he can finally show them how he feels both physically and mentally. i feel like in the end itd end up with dr wondertainment being given the rust back and being put in the maze to suffer for all eternity

tldr; its the misters but if they were evil like redd

So about the last episode of season 1.

First, Irving. I'm quite disappointed on Irving he did nothing, nothing interesting was going on but to his credit it was not like there was anyone he could talk to and it was nice to see him driving. I also am curious about his outie having a list of people who are severanced and their adresses.

Now, Mark. I think he was great. He dealt with Mrs Cobel being there pretty well in my opinion. I liked him discovering that Ricken was his brother in law and his conversation with Ricken was really nice, you know. Ricken knows Mark thinks he is a dumbass (I wanted to say pateta) and it is nice that he is self aware.

All the times Mark almost discovered his wife was alive we were like come on!!!!! Show him the photo!!!! Anyway, I'm so glad he got to talk to Devon because the way things were going I thought he wasn't going to have time for that.

I'm so glad Mark met his niece and sister and that finally Mrs Cobel isnt on Devon's life anymore.

I got spoiled so I already knew Helly was a Eagan but wow what a way for her to discover. All that photos of her smiling, intimate moments that were caused by the nice people she works with and definitely not by Lumon??? Evil evil people

I was so so sad when she said the break room shit to herself at the mirror, devastating moment.

She handled everything pretty well actually

I was happy to discover the senator wife went through the severance because she wanted to.

It makes sense that they don't consider the innies people, specially because of the level of isolation they are imposed to. You can treat them whatever you want cause it is not like they are going to tell anyone else

It is very interesting how Helly father talked about her innie with so much anger as if they were for real two very different people.

I thought the whole cult Kier thing was just for the innies and crazy people like Cobel but apparently it is a real religious thing. But I wonder how much of that crap Helena and her dad buy. I mean she saying all the workers are her brothers and sisters is bullshit. But what about her dad saying he wants everyone to be a child of Kier? Does he mean like a zombie? A blind follower of what the company says?

Finally, loved what Helly said at the stage! She is wonderful!

ok im back from my feild trip to the pond let me live react to the fic you were actually talking about

ok it starts with- and i shit you not- an orginal idea i had for a kam au (for sun as a gift) where its like battle of bands or something and they kiss and its like "dont let that throw you off your rythm" as i sat with it and that is NOT kam at ALL and didnt fit any other characters so i had to make my own. and as i sat with THOSE characters i realized it also did not fit them so that is why the fic does not open with them kissing but instead like Flirting and its at a stage ish area because i LITERALLY did not know what the fuck i was supposed to do with this vision [i do know ALL the lore now !!]

for an aromantaic person who HATES being flirted with and flirting im so proud of that opening scene

the jacket that is referenced is highly inspired by my ex-best friend's mom's halloween costume from like the 90s that she let me have because i just like found it in a box and really liked it

biana is based loosely on my best friend <3

deadass i am so proud of how realistic my dialouge and interactions are. the JOY i feel because these dont feel like fake stores.

um i dont know if you have siblings. but i cannot emphasis how normal it is to be in the middle of a hEATED fight with like so much anger and then you go out together and like if the younger sibling pays? blood will be shed. someone is going to die not pleasentaly.

writing patterns game!

tagged by @zannolin to post the first sentences of the last ten fics i posted and see what it says about how i start stories! this is actually really interesting, i've never thought about it before

1.) On a genuinely beautiful day in Philadelphia, two weeks before the end of the school year, all of Billy’s siblings pile into the Vasquez van for Mary to drive them to Binder Square Park for some fresh air and sunshine. (the worms and me)

this is actually really interesting. "it's all gone to shit" made me giggle though i should start more stories like that. i think that usually the first line is like, a pretty broad scene/scenario settling statement that narrows down into the point of the fic. i never start with dialogue which i feel like i knew but is interesting to see. im actually really glad the first line of my six plus one isnt here because i HATE that first line but cannot bring myself to change it after so long. it's funny because a lot of them are very run on but you can kind of tell which ones i wrote to post on tumblr first because their first sentences are very short and sharp (that'd be 2 5 and 7). i enjoy starting with an "it's" in particular because honestly 1 could easily say "it's" instead of "on," probably need to change that up.

so here’s the thing I don’t love Sarada but I don’t hate her either it’s just she, idk pmo so bad idk how to explain it. I wouldn’t want to try to say her character REVOLVES around boruto and dont want to be wrong but at the same time she kinda is or I rather say she’s too focused on boruto. Like she’s too focused on him to the point where she don’t even care about the others around her and how her careless actions can affect people too.

EXAMPLE: the time where boruto tried to tell her what happens to her father and she hugs him and don’t know what happened, hugged him in front of sumire, made Boruto lose his eye, almost expose themselves to Eida talking like she isn’t the enemy here, tries to follow boruto even though he doesn’t want to be, and be inconsiderate of others (of course their fans be too blind to see that) but you get what I’m saying? Right?

like it gets to a point with her honestly especially her fans like atp it’s okay to ship borusara but literally I see them as like siblings and family even if they’re not blood related and didn’t Sarada brother-zoned boruto too? Like come on it’s SO OBVIOUS that Sarada doesn’t have feelings for that man. Plus people say how sumire and Sarada are immune to omnipotence bc of their love for boruto. Now we already know sumire feelings for him which is romantically but ppl say for Sarada how her feelings for him is romantic as well but people have to know that love doesn’t equal to romantic feelings all the time like love can be expressed in different ways other than romantic.. if you know what I mean

Honestly its hard putting how I feel about her into words too, I dont hate her cuz I loved Kishimoto and Kodachis version of her, but I hate what Ikemoto has turned her into, I dont blame Sarada for his awful writing of her, but I cant just ignore it either since as long as Kishimoto acknowledges this as an official sequel this IS her canon character now and I despise it. So its really hard to put it into words because its hard hating and loving the same character because their written well by one writer and written terrible by another.

This is why Im neutral towards her now, I still love who she initially was but hate what Ikemoto turned her into, so now Im just neutral, Im still her fan but Im a fan that isnt gonna bite my tongue about how dirty shes being done or gas her up for doing the bare minimum things just to prove Im a fan, nah, the only way for her writing to improve is to call it out and let Ikemoto know that the way hes writing her is terrible and needs to change, but as long as her so called 'fans' keep defending and gassing up her writing then Ikemoto will see no reason to change it.

Saradas character is written so poorly that all her praises are literally all rooted in what she MIGHT do in the future.

Oh her MS abilities are gonna go crazy thats why their not letting her use it yet cuz its gonna be saved for a crazy moment

Oh Sasuke said her and Boruto are the only ones who can do something about omnipotence, that means shes gonna be a key role in stopping it

Sarada is gonna be the one to take down Hidari and save her dad

Saradas probably learned alot over these years we just havent seen it yet

You get the point, everytime they praise and defend her its always based on they THEORY of all the things she could potentially do, what she might do, what she might know, how she might help.

Notice how its never what she actually CAN do or HAS done but only what she MIGHT do or MIGHT be capable of, that alone tells you everything you need to know about how poorly written she is, she has no real outstanding praise worthy feats or contributions, everything is just what she MIGHT do, never what she actually HAS done.

I wouldn’t want to try to say her character REVOLVES around boruto and dont want to be wrong but at the same time she kinda is or I rather say she’s too focused on boruto. Like she’s too focused on him to the point where she don’t even care about the others around her and how her careless actions can affect people too.

This is the part that puts me off most about her writing, because I could tolerate her being hyper fixated on Boruto if thats the direction they wanted to go because Naruto was the same way with Sasuke, is it irritating at times? sure, excessive? sometimes yea, but its their closest bond so whatever you can give it a pass.

My issue is the obsession ppl say Kawaki has towards Naruto, Sarada has that x10 to an extremely unhealthy degree not even Kawaki has reached. Lemme explain.

With Kawaki theres justifiable reason for why he developed his unhealthy obsession, look at his upbringing, his biological father abused and sold him at a young age, and his adopted father abused him and forcefully had his body modified and implanted with karma against his will, then finally he meets Naruto who was the one and only father figure hes ever had that truly loved and cared for him

It makes perfect sense why Kawaki would have an unhealthy obsession with him wanting to protect Naruto at any cost, because to him Naruto is more precious than life itself, hes willing to make Naruto hate him and be killed by him in the end just to protect him from the Otsutsuki threats. He is willing to be HATED and KILLED by the person he cherishes the most, thats how important Narutos life is to him, and how little his own life means to him in comparison, for as long as Naruto is alive and well, he doesnt care what happens to him.

THAT makes sense, same as Naruto with Sasuke, in both those cases the 'obsession' made sense, Sarada's however does NOT and thats why her sudden character shift is so off putting.

Why is she wearing a mens sized jacket in Borutos style? why is she adopting his hot headed and irrational attitude when she used to be level headed and analytical? why is she no longer involved with her own bestie because of a boy? why does she show ZERO concern for her dad at all and never asks about him until Boruto brings it up? why is the only time she brings up her dad in defense of Boruto?

In all of Gaiden and even when Kodachi was writing Sarada and Chocho were inseparable and who she opened up to.

But after Ikemoto took over, apparently Sarada and Sumire are inseparable besties cuz they both care about Boruto, and if you dont care about Boruto apparently Sarada doesnt wanna hang around with you anymore, shes physically incapable of putting her feelings for Boruto aside to interact with anyone other than ppl equally as fixated on him as she is, that is Ikemotos take on her character.

You can try to argue 'Well Chochos not part of the plot thats why' neither was she a part of Sarada's daddy issues or her jealousy here towards Kawaki, shes THERE because shes Sarada's best friend, who shes closest to, who shes comfortable being open with, she doesnt have to be a part of the plot, she should be there just for being Sarada's FRIEND.

Do you know how ridiculous it is that Sarada is going through one of the hardest times of her life and Chocho isnt there beside her? supporting her? comforting her? even if she doesnt believe her she's still there to support through this hard time? do you know how ridiculous it is that Chocho is supporting HIMAWARI who she had NO prior connection to before TBV is now apparently besties with Hima and supporting her? and we see her supporting Boruto didnt make Chocho treat her any differently so she would've had the same attitude towards Sarada because again, thats her best friend.

Thats strike 1, strike 2 is dressing like this mf, that is a whole new level of weird literally no other character has ever stooped to BUT her which is why its such a bad look for her character, because she literally is the ONLY one whos ever stooped this low with their obsession and friggin Obito exists.

Kawaki is obsessed with Naruto but he isnt dressing like him, Mitsuki is obsessed with Boruto but he didnt dress like him, Obito was obsessed with Rin but he didnt dress like her, Naruto was obsessed with Sasuke but he didnt dress like him.

This is literally a Sarada exclusive thing and that is why it is one of the worst looks for her character, and Ikemoto's explanation for it is even worse because he doesnt even say its to rebel and show the village that she stands with Boruto [stupid still but atleast its a valid reason] but no, Ikemoto just says its how she coped with her complicated feelings about the whole situation which is just...so friggin stupid I cant even find the words to explain how stupid it is.

I've expressed my feelings about that enough so Ima leave it there.

Strike 3 is the biggest offense even worse than the jacket, her zero fks given about her dad.

Doesnt ask Boruto where her dad is and instead just asks if hes sure he wants to fight alone

Doesnt let Boruto finish telling her what happened to her dad, even though his words strongly imply something bad happened to him, hugging him was more important than finding that out.

Doesnt ask about her dad until Boruto brings it up again because she was too focused on being embarrassed about hugging him

Barely reacts to the news that her fathers been absorbed ^

DOESNT THINK TO RUN AFTER THE THORN SOUL THAT'LL SAVE HER FATHERS LIFE UNTIL BORUTO LOOKS AT IT.

Is more upset and focused on what Sumire said about her being inconsiderate of other ppls feelings than she is anything regarding her dad.

By this point she found out her father has become a tree, that Hidari possesses the Thorn Soul Bulb that'll save her father, that her fathers clone tried to kill her and wants to steal her eyes

But none of that weighs on her mind, she feels nothing about her father being absorbed, nothing about Hidari having the key to saving her dad and her failing to save it, nothing about nearly being devoured

No the only thing weighing heavy on her mind is some fkin boy beef, THATS what got her shaken up, nothing to do with her fathers situation, his literal LIFE hanging in the balance, her FAILING to grab the one thing that could save him when she had the chance, NONE of that matters to her.

But Sumire saying shes inconsiderate of Borutos feelings? THAT struck a nerve, nothing else did but oof when it comes to Boruto boy he will ALWAYS have her undivided attention and concern so please be nice to her, please dont say anything about it and hurt her feelings, thats her best friend, who cares if she doesnt care about any of her other friends or her own parents? thats her childhood friend, her closest bond, she cares more for him than anyone else and whats wrong with that? shes acting just like Naru-

Yeah Im gonna stop it right there cuz no, no she is not, she is acting NOTHING like Naruto, because Naruto actually gave af about other ppl besides Sasuke, yes he cared about Sasuke the most, but he didnt ONLY care about Sasuke.

The fact that it is a canon fact now called out by Sumire that Sarada doesnt care about anyone elses feelings but her own tells you that this isnt just the fandom making up something to hate her or that she cant care about her friend, it is now a canon fact that Sarada is inconsiderate of other ppl, even of Boruto, she doesnt care about anyone elses feelings or struggles except Borutos and shes so inconsiderate she cant even take the hint that Boruto is keeping his distance for a reason, she is mentally incapable of seeing the bigger picture because she doesnt WANT to see it.

She thinks only SHE understands him and knows whats best for him which yea Naruto thought the same way but the difference is Naruto actually DID know what was best because he eventually did understand Sasuke's feelings and desire for revenge to a degree and he knew the path he was going down was only gonna lead him to misery, but he also accepted the fact that if he failed to convince him then he and Sasuke would just die together and be freed from all their burdens, either way Naruto knew Sasuke wouldnt be happy down the path he was going and he was completely right.

Sarada however has NONE of that insight or understanding, nor does she try to get it, she doesnt try to see anything from Boruto's pov, she doesnt try to understand how Boruto is feeling at all, she only thinks about HER feelings, HER concerns, HER wants, what SHE doesnt want him to do, how SHE thinks she needs to help him cuz he cant handle it on his own [which he has for 2 years]

Notice how when Naruto wanted what was best for Sasuke he always had his happiness and freeing him from loneliness in mind? what exactly has Sarada said she wants for Boruto exactly? she simply wants to help him against the major threats hes up against, thats it, you never see her thinking about how he feels or what'll make him happy or what he wants.

Sound familiar? yea, shes reached Kawaki's level of obsession but with none of the justification for it, but they essentially have the same thought process, protect Naruto/Boruto regardless of how they feel about the methods or them getting involved even if its something they dont want them to do they do it anyway because protecting them from harm is more important than respecting how they feel.

Protecting them makes THEM feel better, its both a selfless and selfish desire, its selfless because they are willing to put themselves in harms way for their sake, but selfish because their not honoring their wishes and doing things they DONT want them to do for them.

Its alright to wanna protect someone and keep them safe because you care about em, but its not ok to completely disregard how they feel and prioritize your wants and needs over theirs, thats when it becomes unhealthy.

That is not a dig at Kawaki's feelings for Naruto but just the realistic take on it, his obsession is understandable but its still an unhealthy obsession nonetheless and Sarada's is the same way, she has a very unhealthy obsession with Boruto, just as Naruto occupies Kawaki's mind 24/7 so does Boruto for Sarada.

If Sarada had Kawaki's justification for her obsession then it wouldnt come off as bad since she'd have valid reasoning but she doesnt, this obsession literally comes out of NO WHERE and is just there for no explained reason, she just suddenly has a one track mind on Boruto and Boruto only, and only hangs with Sumire because thats who she can talk to about Boruto and completely ditched all her other friends because of it.

Ppl still drag Sakura till this day for breaking off her friendship with Ino over a boy but nobodys giving that same energy to Sarada despite her ACTUALLY dropping her friendships over a boy, nah ppl just accept this like this wasnt a main talking point for why Sakura was a poorly written character, wheres that same energy for Sarada? shes the one who actually DOES deserve the backlash for it but its crickets which is only because its for the MC, the 'nice guy', if Sarada had dropped all her friends over Kawaki she'd be getting dragged like crazy, only cuz its Boruto its fine to drop all your friends for a boy now.

Yep I gotcha loud and clear

In the anime yea but not in the manga yet, so far shes only friendzoned him, but there are slight hints to their familial bond

For starters he wanting Naruto to be her dad at one point, if you had a crush on someone I doubt you'd want to be their fathers kid

Sarada and Boruto are always promoted together alongside Sasuke and Naruto, the two MCs of the OG series, showcasing them passing the torch, and since Naruto and Sasuke are based off twin brothers its not exactly hard to believe Boruto and Sarada are intended to have a similar dynamic just no longer with the brothers feud.

The hokage mountain scene shippers use as concrete proof of their ship literally sets them up to be carrying on the mantle of Naruto and Sasuke, with Boruto following Sasuke's path and Sarada following Naruto's, once again emphasizing their similarities and intent to be following in their foot steps, which again if they were intended to be romantic then constantly comparing them to Naruto and Sasuke isnt the way to go.

Alot of their moments are eerily similar to Naruto and Sasuke, and if not Naruto and Sasuke then Naruto and Sakura, both platonic ships, and both ships that canonically view eachother as family.

Her hugging Boruto is almost an exact replica of Sakura hugging Naruto during the pain arc, both took place after an invasion, both were over joyed to see them ok, and both hugged them infront of their love interest who actually is inlove with him.

Just because Naruto didnt hug Sakura back or Sumire wasnt smiling like Hinata was doesnt make it any less of a parallel, no matter how they try to spin it as the SS or MinaKushi hug, the contexts and executions of the scenes are completely different with their only similarities being a hug. The SS hug and the MinaKushi hug are the ones that parallel eachother, not BoruSara's.

Like come on it’s SO OBVIOUS that Sarada doesn’t have feelings for that man. Plus people say how sumire and Sarada are immune to omnipotence bc of their love for boruto.

I genuinely HATE how that theory is even a legitimate possibility, like the fact that this is a plotline with even the slightest bit of potential of being canon is CRAZY.

If ppl had theorized Sakura and Hinata's love for Naruto and Sasuke made them immune to the Infinite Tsukiyomi everybody would LAUGH in your face thats how ridiculous such a theory would be, but Boruto? we have to legitimately wonder and FEAR if Ikemoto is actually gonna do something that stupid because of his abysmal track record.

I dont think he will cuz I'd like to think even he wouldnt be THAT lazy, but given his track record I dont have total confidence he wont, and that is pathetic.

Now we already know sumire feelings for him which is romantically but ppl say for Sarada how her feelings for him is romantic as well but people have to know that love doesn’t equal to romantic feelings all the time like love can be expressed in different ways other than romantic.. if you know what I mean

Im hoping this is the route hes going but unfortunately it doesnt add up with whats being presented, because if it were any kind of love then Himawari and Mitsuki wouldnt be affected either but they are, so it really does seem like only romantic love is what makes the difference.

Again I dont wanna believe thats the case, but given whats being shown that is the only logical conclusion until proven otherwise, so I hope Ikemoto thinks long and hard before making this canon, because not only will this ruin Sarada and Sumire's characters but the sequel as a whole.

If canon, then that means Sarada and Sumire's characters are only relevant as love interests, not any actual importance or special connection to the plot, but just loving Boruto.

As for the sequel, it now recontextualizes the entire theme from being about a boy defying his fate and the shinobi way vs ninja tech/Otsutsuki dna, to a story about true love conquers all, mainly romantic love since platonic love barely gets any focus in this sequel, not even the new sand trio or Konohamaru and Moegi could stay platonic, Ikemoto just HAD to insert romance there that nobody asked for.

So yea, I dont wanna believe Ikemoto would sink that low but I cant in complete confidence say he wont, his track record is just too abysmal for me to have that much faith in him.

But yea I know what you mean and I agree, thats how it SHOULD be handled, platonic love SHOULD be getting focus just as the romantic, since its a shounen the platonic love should be getting more attention than the romantic, but Ikemoto seems to think this is a shoujo cuz the platonic bonds take a backseat while the romance has taken complete center stage.

In EVERY single arc since Ikemoto has taken over theres been romance inserted in some way.

Code arc? Adas entire introduction and Kawaki finds out Sumire's feelings for Boruto

Omnipotence arc? Mitsuki asks if Sarada likes Boruto, Shikamaru reveals to Kawaki Ada likes him and forced him to live with her, everybody falls for Ada the second they see her, Boruto asks why Ada chose Kawaki instead of him, Ada requests Sarada and Sumire for some girl talk, Ada asks Sarada how she feels about Boruto, Ada sides with Boruto and asks if hes really 12 and Boruto still says age shouldnt matter

Boruto return arc? Inojin now spends lots of time with Himawari and promises to protect her and nearly died against Jura to save her, Hima awakened Kuramas power because of Inojin and healed him, Meogis clone confirmed Moegi likes Konohamaru, Ada still simps for Kawaki, Mitsuki still simps for Kawaki (Boruto), Mitsuki begins to fall for Boruto again which yes his feelings are implied to be romantic, Ada is somewhat implied to be growing interest in Boruto too

New Kazekage rescue arc? Sumire is jealous of Sarada hugging Boruto and being inconsiderate of her feelings despite her being considerate of hers, Yodos implied to like Shinki, Araya's implied to like Yodo, Matsuri likes Konohamaru because of Moegi, Konohamaru is implied to like Meogi and refuses to let anyone else call him Konohamaru-chan even for the sake of the mission

Every, single, got danm arc since hes took over has had romance shoved in it repeatedly as a main theme every got danm time.

Kishimoto said the reason he didnt make a messy love triangle with Sakura and Hinata is because this is a battle shounen and he had to prioritize what should really get the main focus and what shouldnt which is why he made romance take a back seat, as he should've.

Nobody is reading a battle shounen for some Disney love theme, if ppl wanted that they'd just watch a Disney movie, ppl watch battle shounen for the fights and the plot and the platonic bonds and if theres romance its a bonus not a main focus.

Ikemoto doesnt seem to get that, and thats precisely why Im nervous he might pull that abysmal plot twist.

Sorry this got so long...I dont blame you if you dont read it all >.< but I appreciate if you do.

gmornin! lordy, okay, hollow knight lore is. where do i even start….

so, the basic gist is that youre this little guy, in a dead kingdom, fighting basically all of the citizens, who have been infected by this disease that makes them violent. like, the kingdom is super long dead, and youve come at about the same time as a lot of other new people: quirrel, tiso, zote, uh. it cannot be just those three. NO wait okay there’s also cornifer and iselda, theyre married.

anyway, so nearly everyone is infected. you fight them all. and. okay, so theres this temple, up at the beginning of the game? and it has three masks on it and you have to go get the masks, because the masks are keys.

thats the basics. lets get into. like. stuff evan isnt allowed to see bc evan is playing blind

so the masks are attached to people, right. three famous guys that the old king told to go into a coma and then, if they ever woke up, their key would be broken.

the three people are monomon the teacher, herrah the beast, and lurien the watcher.

monomon is protected by a big jellyfish. uumuu. <- love this guy. quirrel helps u defeat it.

herrah is protected by her whole home. deepnest is. not for the faint of heart. if you dont like bugs dont play it with sound on.

btw if you kill her at the right time, hornet, who is one of the first main bosses, will be waiting outside to be like “yeah she was my mother. kind of screwed up that she died but… tbh i didnt really know her. but you get that i’m allowed to mourn her anyway”

hornet is your, the player’s, half sister 👍 her mom is herrah and your mom is this tree?? and your dad is the king

anyway so then there’s lurien and its so. waugh. you KNOW hes the most favoured by the king because he has 13 knights to defend him??? you dont have to fight all thirteen but you do have to fight, like, five. but yeah, lurien was like.. the mayor of the main part of hallownest, the kingdom. herrah was from a completely different and smaller kingdom, where she was queen, and monomon was like. her own little spot. she just had the archives

anyway, why dont we talk about the pale king. so the pale king is the dad guy. he’s a god, by the way. and basically he’s fighting this little war with the god of dreams, her name is the radiance, so she decides to screw up ALL of his people and give them all a disease if they dream. and everyone dreams/has a dream so she got like. everyone, right?

and the king was like NO okay we have to stop this. so we’re going to make a jail. and then a SECOND jail, for that jail.

the first jail was his kid. you are also his kid. not the same kid though. okay so basically he had a bunch of kids. like SO many kids. with his wife. who is also a god. and then pumped the kids’ eggs full of void, WHICH IS ANOTHER GOD. so the kids 1 1/2 god. which is difficult to do. anyway

look up birthplace cutscene and grab the longest video or the first one that shows up to see how many kids is a lot of kids.

anyway, so he fills the kids with void so that they dont think or feel or dream, but he messed up because his test was if any of them could get up to him [they are all in a pit] he would bring them along and they would be the knight. the jail. but if they managed to get all the way up????? they had a want to get up there. so that was his like. 1000nth mistake.

so both you the player and this other one got to the top, but only the other one got OUT.

so they shoved the radiance into the knight, and then locked them up and then closed the door and shoved masks on the door.

okay so i have to go do stuff now but like. you have to go kill your dad [hes already mostly dead] in his dream to steal 1: his throne and 2: half of this charm, and then go to your mom and bother her until she gives you the other half, and then go into the abyss and do the cutscene, and then you get the shadesoul <- i think? shade soul or shade heart. whatever

and THEN you can go fight the hollow knight and you have the ability to unlock the secret boss because hornet will rush in and stop the hollow knight and you can dream nail them and then you get to fight the RADIANCE who has SWORDS and LAZERS and it SUCKS. <- its kind of fun i am just sosososo bad at it. anyway

to be clear you can beat hollow knight without having to do all this stuff but if you wanna fight the radiance. white palace. buzzsaws….. <- pretend they are quaking in their boots but like not actually because they love white palace tbh

fma word vomit!1! Mostly a rant bc i have been rewatching it and thinking about things. Fma critical but i am ranting from a place of i genuinely want better for a media i like. I am a person of color and these are my thoughts personally, feel free to disagree.

Iirc, hiromu arakawa wanted fma to be a criticism on ainu colonization as she had ainu family and wanted to pay her respects to them. Which is Awesome in concept, i think its important to want to make something out of compassion and respect for others. I think she had good intentions when creating the base morals of her story.

(Edit, apparently shes yamato and not ainu, i only heard that she was distant ainu from an interview or something but yeah thats probably wrong so sorry abt that)

Heres where the problem kicks in.

Sometimes she does it poorly, really poorly. "Ignorance isnt a sin" but what happens when that ignorance hurts people?

Fma is in the end a story about redemption and humanity. It is a very idealistic /optimistic view of the world. And sometimes that wide-eyed optimism is blind to reality.

Enter the entirety of the amestrian government. One thing i HATE HATE HATE, is the fact that the white characters are given more sympathy than scar, a colored man who had his race brutally genocided by those characters. Roy and gang do feel bad for what theyd done, theyd felt bad about their war crimes their murders their sins everything. He himself says scar was justified in his violence. And edward, a 15 yo twerp was like "thAts nO exCuSe."

This is where the optimism comes in. "Murder is murder! All murder is bad!" Thats a genocide victim. Of course when scar goes after literal children and decides to solve all his problems with violence, thats when hes losing it. That should be disconnected from the whole government corruption bit.

And then winry. Winry comes in, cries her eyes out and shes the victim. Scar went through worse quite literally. And we dont see him get afforded that. And in a way, it feels like white woman tears. I can understand why winrys upset but jesus have some empathy would ya?

The main problem i think, is how little ishvalan characters there are, there isnt enough to have a full story. There isnt enough to see their pov. Its just roy and the gang and armstrong. And doesnt olivier get mad at alex at one point for not participating in the genocide? Stan alex for not wanting to kill people and backing out, wish other characters could say the same huh?

Maes. Maes. Grips him. Maes.

He doesnt give a shit about the ishvalans, what he was a loving dad but does he ever care abt his literal war crimes? Probably not. He only cares about roy.

In the end its an idealistic world where cops would actually work against the system. There always was something unsettling about the way the goverment worked and i think its because it follows the lines of "not all cops are bad!" Which, which isnt true.

Cops are bad because they promote and enable a system that was corrupt in the first place.

FMA technically goes against the grain with that, because the "cop" characters do go against the government. I think its important to have an ideal to work towards. I think its important to have positive examples, and fiction is a playground. Its a literal fantasy to get a corrupt government overthrown. But having that hope somewhere, may be good. Because at least we can hope for a better future. Roy and his gang work towards a future where they would get sentenced guilty which is a good thing i wont deny. I think its good that they fight for that.

Im not here to talk about that.

This combined with the fact that only white characters have a truly active presence in overthrowing the government (besides scar vs bradley that was awesome and very good), it just feels, unsettling.

Its like making a movie abt the civil war only to have white people star in it ignoring the black people that did work for their liberation.

(If thats an uncalled for comparison let me know ^^ i can edit it, its just the closest i can think of)

White characters and their emotions are always getting prioritized over colored ones and its alarming.

Then theres the whole if you work hard youll get something in exchange.

Hahahahha if only it really was like that for the majority of minorities hm? The world really would be a better place. 2003 fma you actually did something with that.

I dont think fma is entirely bad, it does good things sometimes! And i appreciate the message it tries to portray, i just think it has its priorities askew sometimes...

ok ok fine so- best moments of this new update:

(yes, this will be long, no I dont know how to put it under a read more on mobile. Sorry OTL)

- The Nightlights get actual unique personalities. In Homecoming, only Dart seemed to have one, while the boys were basically "cute boys who are always sparring". Here, Dart is inquisitive and forward, Ruff is a bit lazy but with a heart of gold, and Pouncer is playful and brave (he's biting at his tail like a dog would here lmao).

- Pouncer reminds me of his dad a lot. He follows you around because he wants to be near you, he sneaks after you as you go to a dangerous place, and even tho he is Baby, he still tries to use a blinding sort of light flash /shot to protect you from dragon hunters. He can get a little scared at times but he immediately calms down near you, and trusts you enough to follow you despite being afraid. The moment the fear disappears he just happily flies around like a dork <3 He's probably my favorite of the three but it's really hard to choose because they're all so unique.

- Dart is very much her mother's daughter. She's impulsive, wild, and does what she wants when she wants. She also apparently idolizes the Green Death, which is hilarious (for those that dont know, the Green Death is another female who moved and took over Dragon Island after the original Red Death was killed in SOD Universe, and yes, she is green). I'm not kidding, she killed a ship full of people lmao. Well, indirectly. She flew up to the Green Death and eventually led her to shoot fire at a whole ship of warlords. And eventually set fire to the whole fleet... in the open seas. Yea, those people are dead.

That said Dart is caring and protective and her special "power" is to rally and protect other dragons. She really feels like a mix of her mom's wild, more brutal side with her father's protectiveness. While she likes the Player character well enough I got the distinct feeling she bonds with dragons better, which I really love! She's just. Wild, but still open to work with people, just like her mom in this universe. Well, maybe a little more open than Mom. I also really like that both Pouncer and Ruffrunner had moments in which they were afraid and the Player had to comfort them, but Dart never did. She was always up and ready to go lmao.

- Ruffrunner is SO cute. Despite being a fighty boy, he's very attached to his parents and apparently wants to make them proud. He's also very lazy, he likes to nap around |D That said, he cares so deeply for others that he willingly puts himself in danger and draws enemy fire so others can attack properly. He's more tanky than the other two so he can take it. He's SO eager to help (and prove himself), be it you or his parents, which matches how his unique ability is to take hits to make sure everyone isnt attacked. He reminds me of the Toothless that was willing to die if it meant saving Hiccup.

- Bonus points for Toothless for being a fantastic dad to his kids and apparently not taking the Stoick route. He encourages Ruffrunner to be brave and look, this is just an excuse to show you how adorable they are.

- Hiccup remarks that Ruffrunner reminds him a lot of himself and how he wanted to make his parents proud of ALL of him. Why, yes, he referenced the "all this" line in the year of our Lord 2022. Did I mention I love this game? I love this game.

- As an AMAZING bonus, Valka was there and heard it, and she was actually a little awkward and upset at the thought of Hiccup suffering because of that. God. I love their dynamic. Just the right amount of awkwardness and guilt despite how much they love and understand each other, which makes perfect sense considering she abandoned him for 20 years.

- Valka in general getting focus and development is great. I love how every time she visits the Hidden World (she gets to see the Hidden World y'all!!!) she's in awe of it.

- Backtracking to talk about the Green Death for a second bc I love what they did with her! While she's just as violent and brutal as the Red Death, she didn't immediately go for the Warlord ships. Only after we rescued some baby scuttleclaws from those ships was that the Green Death attacked them.

I just love love LOVE that a dragon of the same species as the "pure evil"-type one from the first movie is not ACTUALLY shown as pure evil and IS capable of protecting and caring... just like any other dragon. I did not expect this but it was SO good. Between this and you being able to rescue and train one of Grimmel's deathgrippers, I LOVE how this game tells us that there are no true evil dragons. 10/10 point goes to School of Dragons.

- Just, this line from Valka:

I'm gonna be a bit salty for a sec because this. THIS. You have to respect these creatures and sometimes only watch from a distance- not every dragon needs to be trained, which is the lesson Hiccup seemingly had to learn in httyd 3. But learning about them, seeing them, living with them, even from a distance, is what leads to love and respect and inspires you to take care of them.

Not, y'know, shoving them down a hole for a thousand years. Even if it IS a very cozy hole. THAT just leads to them being forgotten and for people to still wanna use them for their own gains, like the timeskip show whose name I'm forgetting tells you.

Here they actually move back and forth between the skies and their ancestral home. I love that they have the freedom to do so.

- The King of Dragons lives! Somehow!

I didn't expect this- would have been cool if Drago's Bewilderbeast had taken over the King's duties to protect the original nest- buuuut y'know what? I'm okay with this. He deserved better and he's a good boi and I love him so yea.

Stoick is still dead here, and it IS heavily implied to still have been Drago-Toothless who took him out, so my best guess is that Drago's Bewilderbeast took the King out of commission long enough for Toothless to challenge him and become an Alpha on his own, etc, but he's recovered since?

- Hiccup arrives in the Sacturary after a while and... I dunno, maybe seeing the King of Dragons reminded him of his father, because he quietly mutters that "I miss him so much."

The shock and pain kept me from screenshotting the first comment from him. Ugh, come for my heart won't you. I love that Hiccup still struggles with being Chief, and missing Stoick, but is trying his best. I love how this game doesn't forget about him- there's a whole video sequence dedicated to his memory in one of the previous storyline missions when we return to Dragon Island for the first time. I'm very lucky to have played this game VERY on and off for years, because I still remember everyone's httyd1 models, Stoick being there, and his missions about the importance of being responsible and being a chief. I treasure them fondly since he's not around anymore- not even in this game.

- Speaking of Hiccup, he's surprisingly absent for most of the storyline! He only shows up every now and then and doesn't even participate in the battle with the Warlords and Stormheart- you work mainly with the Nightlights and Valka through this story. At first I wasn't sure why, but eventually I realized that I really liked this. It sort of shows that Hiccup can delegate- that we don't NEED him to be there at all times to do the right thing and fight for the bond with dragons. It shows his ideas are spreading- that he's changing the world little by little :)

- I also really like how they pair each of the nightlights with a King Dragon that inspires them. Pouncer with the playful, curious and brave Luminous Krayfin, Dart with the fierce, wild yet protective Green Death, and Ruffrunner with the gentle, protective and loyal Bewilderbeast. Amazing way to showcase their personalities and make them unique! Also goes to show how all 3 have what it takes to, perhaps one day, become worthy Alphas of their own.

- As a last bit, I love that they make the Warlords threatening- Griselda gets a bit of a spotlight, and I loved the tension between the three Warlords and Stormheart since they kept intruding on her turf. I love how the Warlords got a whole storyline for themselves after Grimmel is dead, even if the star of the show is still Stormheart.

- Also also, it takes the whole gang (minus Hiccup and Toothless), PLUS Player and his dragon, PLUS Valka and Cloudjumper, PLUS THREE WHOLE NIGHTLIGHTS to defeat them, instead of 6 kids in flight suits. While the game focuses just on you and the nightlights, everyone else IS there and they didn't NEED to spend money and resources to add that. I thought it was very cool.

- Stormheart in general is just such a good character. I love that we have a female villain in the first place, I love how after threatening you for so long she finally decides she's done and Player's gonna die... I love that SHE's the final boss of the storyline because SHE is the main antagonist of this story and has always been.

- Also, I love that we finally get to blow up her fancy ship that used enslaved dragons to create steam for it to move. It felt so satisfying after all these years.

- Also, it's cute that the Player character gets to pick a nightlight to bond with and train for free at the end of the story, with Toothless and the Light Fury watching on. The fact that they approve and that Hiccup trusts you with this is such a fun way to end this story and to show how far Player has come.

Overall, I both feel and fear this game is gearing up for a final storyline... Stormheart escaped, but her ship and most of her power is no more. Even her ally, Harald, has (perhaps surprisingly) betrayed her and gave us the info to destroy her ship. It feels like it's leading up to one final confrontation with her. If so, it will make the whole thing one hell of a ride, and I couldn't be happier to be able to experience it myself. This story and world is so rich, and it really sticks to the franchise's core, while being fun, educative, not afraid to craft their own unique stories, and so, so full of heart. As I said earlier, it really reminds me of why I love httyd as much as I do.
