Snapetober #31 — Spooky

This drawing is only going to make sense to me but I could not finish Snapetober without including them so there it is.

Back in the day, before the publishing of OotP and when we had no info on him, I decided Severus would be born on the 31st of October, because being born on Halloween was cool and dark 🦇 Later I also decided he had secret twin siblings.

I first drew a vanilla version of this but I wanted it to fit today's word at least a little bit, so had to think of a way to dress them up.

By October 86 his sister should have had a baby daughter so I guess that's how they convinced him to put on a costume for a Halloweeny birthday. He definitely went for what would require the less effort*. I thought maybe it could be a tradition in the French wizarding society to pay hommage to/dress up as folklore figures for Halloween so she's dressed as Mélusine, and his brother as a lébérou, which is a sort of French werehare cursed to roam forever at night.

#I realised typing this that this tradition makes no sense since the French do not traditionally celebrate Halloween #and I guess French wizards would have a different name for it #and bc it's the season of the dead it would have made *so much more sense* to dress up as things like ghosts or psychopomps #DAMN IT.#but then again earlier today when I thought about French mythology I specifically rejected the Ankou *because* he looks like death #i thought Sev wouldn't be too keen on that kind of costume :|#so yeah. maybe they tweaked the OG tradition to accommodate him.#also it was drawn after a stock photo #and it's actually my third drawing for today's Snapetober because I gave up on the 1st one and disliked the 2nd one #it's not that spooky but please bear with me #I've now been on this one for... like 6 hours #it's almost 3am and i haven't had dinner #and it's not even done in ink! It's done!

The rubber coating did not want to adhere to the modeling foam, so that's why where the handle meets the sword looks gross. Don't skip the heat sealing step, I guess.

I'm proud of the result, but most importantly, I'm ready to be DONE WITH IT.

#in this position his face is extremely 'cartoon cat' shaped.. like the perfectly round cheeks and little #rounded bump of a snout.. big round eyes. etc. stretched over the arm of a chair like a weirdo #cats #It's still Hot Evil Summer time and I have so much to do so am just aimlessly hopping between various projects but not actually #getting anything done. as usual. Also so so so so tired. I almost fell asleep in the middle of the floor like 3 times today lol #Trying to finish some costume photos and also another poll adventure thing. plus I do really want to do a sculpture sometime #I haven't finished one in a while. Hopefully my tiredness is nothing bad.#Maybe I'm anemic again so that's making me tired. Or maybe it's just a Listless phase. not that I'm ever really THAT productive considering #all of the health problems and etc. always holding me back. but still. I'm not usually 'sleep or just stare at a wall literally all day' ty #e unproductive.. at least not for multiple days in a row so. hmm... Sometimes especially in the summer though I will have periods of time #that are listless like that. I am under low level phyiscal stress for months at a time due to summer heat so I guess it makes sense #that would eventually take a toll. I just have SO MANY THINGS I WANT TO DO!!!!! AAUUGhhh #I also came up with a new idea for a game that is so so cool and I wish I could make it but I have to finish the other one first lol #which I will NEVER do. if I spend all day just sleepy unfocused barely able to do anything #I also really need to sell some clothes and sculptures because I'll probably have to buy a new computer soon so I need money. (plus still #recovering the costs of having to euthanize my other cat.. wehh) There's nothing clearly wrong with it right now but it's getting gradually #slower and there's more weird glitches happening randomly and idk.. just weird things that make me think 'hmm... bad.. possibly.'#ANYWAY... I just have so much to do that I both REALLY want or need to do - so it's perpetually frustrating that I just can't for whatever #reason like. Time is always mving forward. every day I waste is a wasted day. The year is already almost half over. I havent finished #any of the projects I wanted to .. and there's only more and more things to do each day. It's overwhelming and stinky #and thats not even considering having to do all of my tasks also with the background noise of economic inequality. everything increasingly #going into an even scarier political direction. active climate change crisis. pandemic that still exists and is insane to act otherwise. et #etc. HOW am I supposed to solo make two whole games . write 3 book series. finish sculptures. do costumes. make outfits. game videos. make #stable network of social connections. do my little side crafts. take care of myself and cats. pay rent. manage health issues. keep a routin #.try to make some sort of money. go to doctors appointments. handle regular maintenance like cleaning and cooking and self care #and buying new plates when old ones break or etc. make sure to do other things like backup my computer data regularly. do shopping lists.#take care of plants. pursue like 6 different academic interests. do the other side side projects I have for fun (like music or carving avoc #ado pits). eat in a healthy way thats okay for my Special Health Issue diet. exercise so i don't die early. etc. etc. etc. AND all while it #82F in my apartment all the time and I have tiny income and also need to move to another country/climate somehow??? lol......#ANYWAY.. ..very frustrated today over my chronic Tired Sleepy.. time for Cat Photos - which cure all of life's ailments lol

Ok so I’m finally going to a ren faire for the first time and of course I’m making my costume and my partners costume. I have a toss up for ideas on what to make tho. I have the fabric and gold embroidery floss to make a cota mor, an Irish traditional dress from like the 13th century. Alternatively, I’m short as shit and my partner is tall and ginger: we could be Gideon and Harrowhark so easily, but I’ll probably need to buy so many things for those. Do indulge my historical fashion obsession and Irish ancestry or do I be a big ass lesbian like always?

I’m still dumbfounded that over the weekend someone was dead set convinced I copied the work of and stole techniques from another cosplayer on my Ranni cosplay and like when I tried to direct them to where they could see my progress they ignored me and still called me a liar despite there being clear proof that I came up with all of my designs on my own and used my own techniques for everything like. Girlie help. Why are you trying to gotcha me when I’m being polite and showing you exactly what my work was, literally what’s going on here is I’m simply cosplaying the same character as someone else, there’s no rules against that and I’m sorry I guess apparently you’ve never picked up a sewing machine enough to tell the difference between two different skilled craftspeople’s work attempts at cosplaying the same character

#it was an absolutely unhinged moment like this person was internet yelling at me to credit the other person and I’m like well I love their #work too but you see I can’t credit them bc I didn’t use any of their techniques I used my own work in this cosplay #like. have I seen the tutorial video you’re referencing? yes of course! but I didn’t come across it until I was almost done with my own #my own costume. you know. the point where it would be impossible to steal something anyway #it’s just. the gall to insult me so much saying that it’s impossible for me to have come up with all that work by myself #I blocked the person but I’m just hoping they don’t go straight to the other cosplayer they accuse me of stealing from bc not that I’m worri #worried about them thinking I stole her techniques bc it would be painfully obvious if she saw my work that I didn’t steal anything.#I just don’t want her to have to deal with time wasting bullshit lol

#still... I am not joking.. every time I post things like this it is so hard to narrow them down #I am almost as obsessed with the sky as I am with cats. I have a folder of just cloud pictures with like 650 photos in it right now #I don't post them all because I think it'd seem repetitive probably but just know... lol #that could be an entire blog or something.. hundreds and hundreds...#Like the same way that I cannot explain my obsession with cats or why they've imprinted into my brain so heavily - clouds are the same way #anyway.. .still have the costume photos and stuff like that I just havent edited and posted yet lol.. Seriously I am so bad at social media. I am never exagger #ating for comedic effect or something. I am the type of person that could legit like. write and produce and direct and complete a movie #that will be million dollars shown in theaters or something and I would forget to mention it anywherte until like 5 months later and go 'oh #uh .. oh yeah.. i should post about that online somehwere probably.. oops' . Cursed with the 'forget about everything once it's complete'#trait. Like the way my brain works is just like. once I finish something I'm immediately like 'cool! onto the next thing!!' without processi #ng what i just did. I'm just always looking forward to the next thing. I'll finish sculptures and then throw them away or forget about them.#I take photos and they sit in the drafts for 6 months before I post them.
