Stupid or Clever? A Ramble on Parody and Perspective with Popstar
(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, Steve's Tumblr, and Pillowfort.  Find out more at my newsletter, and all my social media at my linktr.ee)
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.
David St. Hubbins, Spinal Tap
Spinal Tap is one of the greatest movies ever made.  It defined the mockumentary genre, absolutely capturing the sense of a cultural space - ridiculous metal bands in the 80s.  It was well-acted, sensitive, and also the music may have been silly but pretty good.  In fact, it was so well done that when the “band” toured, a friend who was a fan ran into people at a concert who didn’t get the joke.
Want to argue with me?  Shut up.  Look. I just like Spinal Tap.
Being such a fan of the film, I checked out a similar movie Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, as a friend said it was in much the same vein.  Popstar was also a mockumentary, but was released in 2016, targeting more modern pop music (with bits of boybands, the Beastie Boys, and rap thrown in).  The movie focuses on one Conner Friel (Andy Samberg) who rose to fame as part of a trio called “The Style Boys,” but being the most charismatic of the group, he ended up solo, leaving one friend traumatized and the other as his DJ.  Connor’s meteoric rise becomes a crashing-to-earth potential extinction event through various bad choices, exacerbated by more bad choices.
The film was a bomb, but I found it quite entertaining, disturbingly spot-on, and the musical performances are pretty good.  However, there were parts of it that seemed, well, stupid - over the top, vulgar, or dumb.  As I watched it my reaction was yes, it was funny, but Spinal Tap it was not.
However, as I watched, I realized that this was a film of a different time.  Spinal Tap was funny to sixteen-year old me as I knew that era of music, the stories of drummer disasters, monsters of metal who just kept going, and strange careers.  Watching Popstar i started thinking that maybe I didn’t “get it.”
Stupid or clever?  A fine line indeed as Mr. St. Hubbins would note.  So I tried to view it as best I could through a modern lens - and I’m the kind of person who hears of Maroon Five and wonders what happened to the first four.
Once I did that, my perspective changed - and with it I got a better understanding of media.
The excesses shown in Popstar were excesses that were distinctly modern - stupidity that was in most cases part of our lives.  Megastars who gain a great deal of fame very fast and do very stupid and immature things amplified by the news.  Oversharing on social media of every detail.  Dumb tie-ins using modern technology to do things no one wants but everyone tells you is cool.
A lot of the things I found stupid in the film were there in real life.  This was a fascinating realization, as well as more than a bit depressing.  Maybe the first four Maroons were in hiding from the dumb world we’d made.
In the end I came to the conclusion that of Popstar’s stupid elements, well over half were completely well-deserved.  Tell me you can’t believe a business called Party Wolves with stellar yelp reviews for providing cute wolves for events.  There’s a scene taking on Daft Punk/Deadmaus techno-costumes and bands that is hilarious as it is believable.  We really do amazingly self-destructive things on social media, especially when famous.
Clever or Stupid?  I had to come down on the side of clever.  It’s just that it was made in modern times where we have invented some incredible kinds of idiocy.
I did note where there was actual stupidity it was due to the film going from mockumentary to parody.  Mockumentaries should adhere to being as real as possible while also exploring the ridiculousness of their subject.  Parody has more of a free hand and allows - indeed may require - some excess to point out the ridiculousness of its subject.  I consider a mockumentary a sub-form of parody, a more disciplined and sensitive one, and to break out of the form is jarring - as this film does occasionally.
I wish the film had been handled with some more deftness, dare I say “more Spinal Tap like,” but perhaps that was too much of a challenge. The musical and managerial traumas in Spinal Tap were of a different time, one without social media, and embarrassing holographic reconstructions.  Perhaps our current times have so much stupidity that it’s harder to handle it cleverly - one needs their cleverness up to eleven as it were.
If there’s a point to all of my intentional rambling  it’s that mockumentaries require some careful handling, but also that audience understanding matters.  I had to take effort to put myself in the right mindset of Popstar, much as a young person might not “get” Spinal Tap with some thought.  Even if Popstar had been handled as well as Spinal Tap (and it is still pretty good) I would have had to make some effort.
Some things just are of their times.  Including me.  Besides, I’d probably throw my back out trying to do The Donkey Roll.

Note
hello em i have a request. can u please rate mr harrington's looks/outfits i just feel like u have the best takes and i'd LOVE to know how you'd rank his choices 👀
this is the single greatest ask i’ve ever received. i will be ranking the outfits, not steve’s moral alignment or actions in each scene. in order of appearance:
The Introduction
Tumblr media
4/10
hair is tragic
steve copied this entire fit from a mannequin in the ralph lauren polo outlet store
would honestly be a 0/10 except for the obvious valiant effort being put forth by his lower half to resist the sexless curse of khaki pants. the devil (st costuming department) works hard but by god steve harrington (joe keery’s body) works harder
nice brown watch that certainly came from a department store
also gains points for being next to nancy’s anemic librarian fit, thus looking better by comparison
The Rich Bitch
Tumblr media
8/10
thank god he ditched the khakis
hair looks much less demonic
it’s a simple look but the sweatshirt rides up when he shotguns the beer
he also gets wet
solid 8 for sluttiness alone
The Whore
Tumblr media
10/10
wet
please note that his chest is waxed. keep this in mind.
The Heterosexual
Tumblr media
2/10
hair looks like he dipped his head in glue
bold choice with the grey pants. unfortunately that choice was wrong
matching outfits with your comphet girlfriend isn’t as cute as you think it is stevie
you only get points because despite that ungodly pastel stripe pattern the polo’s decently fitted and makes your arm look kinda nice
The Dickhead
Tumblr media
3/10
glue head pt. 2
at least the stripes aren’t pastel this time
The Cuck
Tumblr media
6/10
hair slightly less glue-y
yet another striped polo is peeking out unfortunately
but! it’s green and green looks good on him
finally wearing jeans like a normal fucking human instead of weird slacks
pivotal moment in steve’s fashion evolution from preppy male model to sexy morally upright king
his morals are stored in the denim
The Final Girl
Tumblr media
9/10
an outfit with a character arc to rival steve’s own
pretty fucking good hair if i do say so myself!!
it’s fluffy!
that shit looks like if you touched it it’d be soft... no glue here!
finally not copying from the goddamn l.l. bean catalog
iconic green slut sweatshirt? check! jacket and nikes? check! fucked-up gorgeous face and baseball bat full of rusty nails? check, baby!
looks good on its own OR with some blood on top
overall a very solid look
The Darling Little Drummer Boy
Tumblr media
7/10
babe no... please don’t go back to the khakis... they won’t treat you like jeans do...
not quite glue head but not his best
apparently steve owns a single green sweatshirt, a thousand striped polos, and one very precious christmas sweater
almost makes up for prep-related khaki crimes by being really fucking cute
The Simp
Tumblr media
8/10
glue head is DEAD
further evidence that steve harrington’s entire closet is just striped polos
this is his fifth unique striped polo
most of these points are for the sunglasses and the hair
actually all of these points are for the sunglasses and the hair
he’s finally let go of the fucking pastels thank jesus
and you can’t see it but he did wear jeans with this fit i just forgot to make sure they were pictured and it’s 4:15 am so i don’t feel like going back to remake this collage
cannot tell if this is a lighter blue version of the jacket he wore three times in s1 or if it IS the jacket he wore three times in s1 and the color grading is just that different
either way he loves jackets and i think that’s very sexy of him
The Intellectual
Tumblr media
9/10
i’ve been waiting for this one... turn it up!
literally invented vests
excellent hair
loses a point for unfortunately introducing steve’s SIXTH unique striped fucking polo
i can’t see the collar but i know it’s there i know you’re wearing another fucking polo steve you can’t hide from me
can’t decide if he looks gay or just really preppy but either way he’s got some repression going on
still a very solid look
The Oh No Oh God It Hurts I’m Looking Away I Can’t Watch This
Tumblr media
10/10
yes that middle picture is absolutely to show off the texture of his blazer and not at all me making sure that if i have to see his heartbroken little face then you all do too
anyways i Know that blazer cost at least $100 like i Know that shit’s expensive
excellent gorgeous soft-looking hair that someone ought to run their hands through but only people who haven’t dated him for a year while pining after someone else
emotional devastation... but make it unbelievably fucking sexy
stevie baby i know you’re a colorful guy but please wear more black
The Meathead Jock
Tumblr media
9/10
aw christ whatever happened to standards?
introduction of the blue nikes <3
god his hair looked fucking good here
could have gained that final point by using tube socks with blue and GREEN stripes to tie together the shoes and the gym uniform :/
shorts could be shorter but are an altogether appropriate and enjoyable length
fun sweatstain to customize the look <3
The (is there a word for victim of bullying?) Serious Athlete
Tumblr media
8/10
the yellow stripe was more fun
still cute though
The Sudsy Boy
Tumblr media
11/10
wet
suds indicate that he’s washing his hair, presumably with faberge organics. is this why he’s being bullied?
steve brings his faberge organics shampoo and conditioner and his farrah fawcett spray to school with him whenever he has basketball practice
steve either has shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray in his backpack at all times, or he has a separate gym bag that’s mostly haircare products
just need to make sure we all know that
excellent freckle showcase
his chest is still waxed. please, i beg, keep this in mind
one of his strongest looks
The Babysitter
Tumblr media
10/10
his most versatile look to date
a different jacket than the one(s) he’s worn before but it still has the same kind of collar. steve found a jacket he liked and bought it in at least three colors
the whole thing fits So fucking nicely! shirt, jacket, jeans... baby boy is TAILORED
return of the white nikes with the red check indicate that they are his fashion nikes, while the blue nikes with the white check are his sport nikes. interesting.
this fit lasts like 48 hours and steve simply looks sexier as time goes on which is a testament to its quality as well as his inherent power
every new accessory elevates his appearance. roses, nail bat, rubber gloves, blood, sweat, band-aids, bandana, goggles... each element complements the look in its own way!
an overall win
The Chauffeur
Tumblr media
8/10
we can’t really see the whole fit but he’s not wearing a striped polo so i’m calling it a win regardless of what’s on his bottom half
cannot give him a 10/10 though because he might be wearing khakis
red is such a nice color on him when it’s not just from his blood
i lied when i said he should wear more black he should wear more colors
that plain sweater absolutely cost $85 or more
hair looks very nice and soft
excellent look!
The Sailor Man
Tumblr media
9/10
very precious
absolutely the best hair i’ve ever seen
baby boy got highlights for his hot girl summer!
bright colors make his very red lips pop
shorts could be shorter
love the little accents! especially the white pockets and belt
excellent color coordination on steve’s part with the blue sneakers (notably different than his s2 blue basketball nikes) and the red bruising/blood
i hope you remembered that steve’s chest was waxed. as you can see his chest is now unwaxed. some change between s2 and s3 drove this decision, presumably either his breakup with nancy or the fact that he no longer showers in front of other guys at school. up to your interpretation
shock blanket at the very end is a nice touch so we don’t forget he’s traumatized
The Drowned Rat/The Man Overboard
Tumblr media
10/10
wet
shorts could be shorter
the decision to purchase and wear a hoodless raincoat is absolutely ridiculous and stupid
however it is also very steve harrington and i value self-expression
The Chick Magnet/The Flaming Homosexual
Tumblr media
100/10
what can i even say about this fit?
the absolute best pants he’s worn thus far. amazing fit, excellent classic wash. i say this as a former american eagle outfitters associate and the winner of my freshman year dorm’s “best at folding jeans” award
manages to make blue jeans with a half-blue denim vest work effortlessly
bold primary colors make him stand out without being too gaudy
excellent pairing of t-shirt with simple stripes and vest with simple color blocking to create a complex yet cohesive and flattering look
simple brown belt gives the look a put-together yet down-to-earth vibe
hair has only gotten better
still wearing that same brown watch that he’s had since the introduction
this man looks like he waxes his chest
this is steve in his final form
thank you for your time

bonus 2, post chapter 4
first - previous - next
[image  description: an sac webcomic page. 5 pages styled in a manner similar to a medical brochure titled “navigating your new abilities, what does this mean for me?”. the brochure is about superpowers, what the are, side effects and health risks, and job oppurtunities. the brochure has white and light blue for the main colours, with a dark purple accent. page 1: mostly showing a girl transforming, with the title listed above, with smaller text reading “created and supported by the paragon institute for superheroism.” the girl is a younger white woman who has a light purple colour scheme, long straight hair and bangs, a crop top, and elbow pads. shes shown from the waist up, half her body and an arm cut out of the photo. her transformation takes the form of dripping black-purple goop spreading, with a starry texture. a similar texture takes up the image background.
page 2: title: what are superpowers?. “Superpower is a term used for superpowered abilities that go beyond the natural abilities and conventional laws of reality. There are little limits to the potential types of abilities that a super powered person may possess.
It is currently unknown what causes superpowered abilities. Despite many theories, the only known way to guarantee superpowers is to inherit them from a parent.
London has the highest percentage of superpowered people in the entire world, in addition to having 42% of all supers in the united kingdom”
next to this text is a grinning woman in pink winking while posing with one hand on her hip, and the other in a fist held up. the woman has long wavy pale pink hair, light brown skin, many freckles, and hot pink eyes. her outfit is a pink dress and gloves, pale pink tattered cape, and a hot pink long sleeved undershirt.
“how do i use and control my abilities? Superpowered people will typically have an innate sense for how to transform and use their abilities, but like any skill it will take time and effort to fully control their abilities.
In some rare cases, a superpowered person may lack control over their powers to the extent where it can cause harm to those around them.
This is most common in those who have inherited their abilities. In these cases the P.I.S offers programs to assist these people in learning control with 24/7 care and supervision. If you or someone you know requires these programs, please call our number or otherwise contact us via our website.
Due to the range of superpowered abilities, there is no one-size-fits-all method of developing control, however, the P.I.S do offer training services, of which you can read more about atwww.pis.uk/pis-services/training
next to this is a teenage superhero, an androgynous boy with a grey colour scheme, smiling slightly, his arm turning into smoke. he has light grey hair and eyes, brown skin and a dark grey bodysuit. he has a grey poncho/cape conbo and gloves, both of which are lined with light grey fleece or fur. his outfit looks as if is was meant for cold weather.
page 3: what are some other symptoms of superpowered abilities? Superpowers are also accompanied by complete transformations, including bodily and outfit transformations. Body transformations will include a change of eye and hair colour, but can also include a wide variety of changes, commonly including changes to eyes, ears, and hands, animal-like features, changes in shape, colour, additional limbs and features, and more.
below that is 5 examples, inside circles with a white border: a close up of an eye, all blue including sclera, the pupil is pale and slit like a cat. next is a close up of a green haired braid. next if also from behind, a red haired person with red wings, the longest feathers of which are white. while the last three arent of any known character, the latter two are wraith, shown from behind, only showing hair and a cape, and part of an arm, and quartz, a close up of his elf-like ear.
Outfit transformations are even more varied in appearance, and will typically be in various shades of the persons 'main' colour. It is common for the outfit to contain additional accessories, tools, and weapons. Electronic devices created from these transformations do not need recharging and if using internet or data, will use the strongest available signal to do so. It is illegal to create, use, or otherwise have in the open, a weapon in public without a registered superhero licence.
The act of transformation will vary from person to person, but will usually involve a bright light, and is likely to reflect the user's powers of their effects. In the case of those inheriting their abilities, they will inherit body traits and transformations from any and all superpowered ancestors.
The effects of a transformation will likely change through a superpowered person's lifetime. A change will usually happen after a dramatic change in the person's personality, ideals, traumatic incident, or other life development, although a change is not guaranteed, and will rarely occur without these.
The first transformation will usually be the simplest aesthetically both in outfit and body, with simple details, but will usually get more complicated, and it's likely to gain more body transformations as more changes happen. A superpowered person may experience 1-2 changes every 10 years.
Objects and outfits created via transformation will dissipate upon detransformation, regardless of if it is removed from the person. The same goes for additional limbs and features that do not exist on the original body, although these injuries are permanent, unlike clothes and objects which will reform upon transformation.
page 4: other known possibilities of transformations:
- Partial changes to a transformation may occur in the event of permanent injury, such as gaining a prosthetic after losing a limb, but nothing else in the outfit changes.
-It is possible for a transformation's change to be affected by other superpowered persons. This is commonly shown by similarities in outfit transformations, as elements of the superpowered persons apperance change to resemble each other.
-Changes in colour are extremely rare and usually only occur in small aspects
other changes and risks: Some changes are permanent and may not disappear when a superpowered person detransforms.
-Reproductive changes: Any biological offspring will have the exact same powers as the parent. However, pregnancy will be risky, and have a high rate of failure, especially if the mother does not have any superpowered abilities.
-Dreams: While there is no known reason for this occurrence, supers will rarely be able to remember their dreams, except those with dream related abilities or legacy supers. However, despite this the people in question will usually be experiencing nightmares, and superpowered people are at high risk for night terrors and sleep terror disorder.
-A superpowered person's body will adapt to their powers and it is extremely unlikely for one to be harmed by their own power, but this may result in permanent changes that may cause inconvenience in daily life. If this is something you or a loved one experience, please inform your GP
-Overuse of powers: While powers appear to be adapted to not cause harm to the user, overuse of powers can result in a large amount of pain and possible long term damage
below that is an image of two people, on looking like a doctor, a pale man with dull brown hair and dull green eyes, dressed as a doctor and smiling with a clipboard, looking at a person shown from  behind, with long mint hair.
page 5: what does this mean for me?
Discovering and controlling your abilities is often the first step one may take inbecoming a superhero. Here at the P.I.S we offer many pathways to doing so,including all required training, courses, and experiences.
We also acknowledge that some super powered people do not seek to become asuperhero, but the P.I.S still has a place for them! We offer many career pathsand courses for almost any job and  our career advisors can match up the perfectpower-job combinations to give you a leg up if you are interested in using yourabilities in your career.  For more information, visit jobs.pis.uk
Use of powers in a job, or to otherwise earn money using superpowered abilities, without a license is a serious offence that can result in fines starting from £5000,and a potential ban from working in that field.
below is the superhero arrow, grinning at a woman in a plain looking suit. he has one hand on his hip and the other is shaking hands with the woman. the women has red hair and eyes, and pointy red nails.
Due to the nature of superpowered abilities, it is important to gettailored advice and support for affected individuals. For more information call us at our support helpline at 020 7946 0xxx. Both our lines are open from 8:30am-10pm mon-fri and 9:30am-9pm sat.You can also visit our website for more resources at pis.uk/resources. end id]

Next Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover – Bonds Beyond Worlds
With so many ideas about what Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 will be about, I wanted ZEXAL/ARC V/VRAINS crossover continuation the most. I’ve already discussed this before Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens was announced (here it is if you’re interested https://3w-writer-with-wings.tumblr.com/post/189629945740/next-yu-gi-oh-anime-new-series-or-a-crossover ) and despite new series, I’m still hopeful we will be getting a movie at least. Well, even if we aren’t getting it, I’ll write it down anyway. Only once Yuma, Astral, Yu-boys, Bracelet Girls, Yusaku and Ai get a happy conclusive ending will my soul be able to rest.
Still please don’t hate on SEVENS! It’s a nice and funny show and Yuga is a precious little inventor who doesn’t deserve all the hate.
Main cast
Tumblr media
So the main cast will be definitely made of the main protagonists aka. Yuma, Yuya and Yusaku and their partner characters aka. Astral, other Yu-boys and Ai. I also want to include Bracelet Girls since they are very closely connected to Yu-boys, though not directly, more like they have a separate, but just as important mission, maybe they even team up with Rio (since she has psychic-like abilities) and Aoi (who learns about world connection from her brother and wishes to help). If it will possible I’ll also include rivals – though more like supporting characters, the same way Signers and professor Banner were used in the movie. For everyone else it would be more or less just minor roles, but still important enough to contribute to the story (Kaito and Arclight brothers guide Yuma through different worlds, Reiji and Yusho investigate strange occurrences in Arc V and Akira, Kusanagi and Ryouken try to find out where Yusaku went and how to help him). Overall, I wouldn’t include too many characters since I really want to give them meaningful roles.
How it will connect the series?
Tumblr media
VRAINS ends with a surprising findings uncovered by Akira – VRAINS got connected to many different worlds and Yusaku is on his way to unknown part of VRAINS in order to find Ai. While first crossover was connected by time (hence the title Bonds Beyond Time), this crossover will be connected by space. First crossover already made a big deal out of time (Atem was an ancient spirit from past and had to travel back in time to regain memories in order to rest in peace, Judai was a reincarnation of a Supreme King and Yusei fought against time-travelling cyborg from the future) and was therefore connected by time, with Yusei using Crimson Dragon to travel to past in order to stop Paradox from destroying it. This time, the new trio of protagonists will have to travel through space in order to meet. Since VRAINS ended so abruptly, with Yusaku travelling towards unknown part of network, this would be the most perfect point to start this new journey. If that part of VRAINS network somehow got connected to another world or more like a dimension, this is how Yusaku finds himself in ARC V dimension after the events of the fifth series – sometime after the four dimensions merged into one again. Yuya and Yuzu get used to their counterparts living in their bodies and Yuya is yet to defeat Yusho at that point.
Goals
In a way all three series share the same theme of protecting the world and changing it in order to save the ones they love, but with each series, less can be done to save it. Yuma used Numeron Code to save the friends he lost, prevented the destruction of Barian world and turned Barian Emperors back in humans. Yuya managed to seal Zarc’s soul in Reira and get Yuzu back and joined all dimensions into one, but he couldn’t save other Yu-boys and Bracelet Girls. Yusaku was unable to save Ai as Ai was never meant to co-exist with humanity. Therefore I believe this chain of events is in a way connected with Numeron Code – with such drastic change in Astral World and Barian World, the change must’ve affected Original Dimension in ARC V and Dr. Kogami must’ve had a reason to create Ignis (in the most far-fetched logic I believe the change awakened Zarc’s rage and convinced Dr. Kogami that the world is ending and humanity needs an immortal successor). Yuma could also feel guilty and selfish to activate Numeron Code, thinking he might’ve been wrong after all and that caused all the suffering Yuya, Yuzu, their counterparts and Yusaku have been through.
Tumblr media
But at the same time this doesn’t mean they should just give up Numeron Code to fix everything and rather look for a different way, considering how much damage it has already caused. Maybe the antagonist wishes to have Numeron Code and their first goal is to destroy it or seal it for good and at the same time deal with the fact that it could bring Ai, Yu-Boys and Bracelet Girls back. Yusaku and Yuya don’t blame Yuma one bit and they both ensure him that their friends are still there, they just need to find another way to bring them back home. At one point they will be back either before the climax or during the climax (Yu-boys are pretty much already in Yuya, but it could be that they gain their bodies at the crucial moment when they are protecting Yuya). It would be interesting if Ai actually knew Yusaku was looking for him but was too scared to face him, thinking he’ll lose him (maybe Astral helps him get over it and during the moment where Yusaku is in danger, Ai comes back in a similar fashion as he did during his duel with Ryouken).
Antagonist(s)
Tumblr media
It doesn’t necessary need an antagonist, considering the goals the main trio has is already challenging enough, though it would be interesting to have another antagonist. Rather than having a one that thinks they are doing the right thing but are ultimately making everything worse or a character that is outright evil. I prefer to use a very calculating antagonist who has a good reason behind his actions and truly presents a challenge for the new trio. Antagonist like Z-ONE from 5Ds would nicely fit in this story, but like I said, it doesn’t really need an antagonist. It will be also interesting to include a secondary antagonist or antagonists’ right hand against the girl squad. Since I plan to include Numeron Code (I mean it is a literal Infinity Gauntlet, why the hell not?) the main antagonist’s motivation could be something with rewriting reality and space all over again since Yuma and Astral greatly changed it since the end of ZEXAL. The Bracelet girls also have a connection to Ray and En cards that are also a rather powerful element so there would be no need to include more powerful elements, prophecies or ancient grudges against the protagonist trio.
Tumblr media
This might be a bit far-fetched idea too, but I think it would really interesting to use Yusho as antagonist. Not in a willing way of course, just that someone possesses him and through him challenges the new trio to a duel that decides all. A certain fanfic writer has (Frost190 in “Bonds of Pendulum”) already written down the most amazing duel between Yuya and Yusho that fit into the canon story so well that it made me think just what missed opportunity that duel was. Even though ARC V both starts and ends with Yuya’s vow to defeat his father one day, he never really duels him (though considering Yuri was able to defeat him and Yuya defeated Yuri, he could potentially defeat Yusho as well). Then there’s the fact that Yusho and Yuya haven’t really talked things through face to face yet. While it is clear that Yusho had to leave in order to stop Leo, he left right on the day he was supposed to have this big match. He knew Leo was up to no good, but really, really why he decided to leave on that day? He could’ve at least post-phone that match or be done with it in like an hour or so and then leave. This one thing has bothered me for as long as I can remember and that fact that they never point it out is that more frustrating besides the fact that Leo was magically excused of all horrible things he did. Yusho as antagonist (controlled of course, but using Yuya’s and Yusho’s memories to try to manipulate others) would work very well for Yuma and Yusaku too since Yuma also had to deal with the loss of his father and to Yusaku, Yusho could look like Dr. Kogami – a man who traumatized him for life.
Climax
Like in Bonds Beyond Time, a big duel with protagonists against antagonist is expected to be the main battle of the movie, I would like to spice it up a bit or use entirely different climax scene. I mentioned before that I would love to see Bracelet Girls in action, so what if they get a seperate mission or another antagonist to fight and this is how they find a way to get their own bodies. With this info they have to reach Yu-boys and let them know how to separate them, though again there could be some trouble or something is happening due to disturbance in dimensions and they have to protect people in them. It would be really interesting if they were the trump card or if they would show up at that one moment when they would needed it the most. Another reason of why I want to include them so much is also because only the powers of Yuzu’s bracelet have been partially explained and considering Ray literally split a whole dimension and a demon in four, they must’ve been nearly as powerful as Numeron Code.
Tumblr media
I would also love to expose the new trio of protagonists to their worst fears, showing their pieces of vulnerability there. Yuma could relive his duel with III and all the times he lost Astral and his friends. Yuya could go through the time his father was missing and when he hurt innocent people in berserk form. (In a way I would also love to see Zarc and Ray have a role, at least to guide him and encourage him to not to give up.) Yusaku might expect the trauma from Lost Incident, but it turns out to be the fear of truly losing Ai. Another important challenge would be probably temptation to use Numeron Code for their own interests like maybe it could rewrite Yusaku’s life with Lost Incident never happening, but erase all of Yuma’s friends who got revived. Maybe it could bring counterparts back but cause major disturbance in Den City. Overall I wouldn’t go there too much since I know well that Yuma, Yuya and Yusaku are one of the most selfless people and if anything, they would be fine with giving up on their desire for greater good.
Tumblr media
Another important climax (in case I go with it), is Numeron Code. With such insane power of literal creation and destruction it could be again connected to ARC V, with the whole theme of Heavenly Dragons and En Powers. Similar themes also appeared in VRAINS, especially regarding the creation and destruction of life. It could also be that protagonists will be struggling with how to use it correctly or if they should use it in the first place. Another solution is also permanent destruction, but again, protagonists aren’t sure how will this affect dimensions and timelines.
In all ways, climax will be epic and will join all the build up, struggles, fears and action in one scene.
Interactions of those who never met
Tumblr media
This crossover will be able to provide a lot of scenes and interactions between characters of those three series. Yuya, Yuma and Yusaku have surprisingly a lot in common, especially their experiences when dealing with loss and fears. For some reason I’m actually seeing Yusaku opening up to them since they could strangely remind him of Ai and that was pretty much the only person besides Kusanagi that Yusaku trusted enough to share his fears. It would be also refreshing for Yusaku to see duelling as fun (I really hoped that would be the case when he duelled Go for the first time) and befriending more people like Ai told him to. Astral and Ai could also share a scene where they are talking about their human partners and the time once their partners will be gone since they are both sort of immortal beings. I strongly believe one of the reasons why Ai sacrificed himself for Yusaku was not only because he saw a future where Yusaku dies protecting him but because he knew Yusaku won’t live forever like him and he couldn’t handle being all alone without Yusaku or other Ignis. Astral who has been alone for thousands of years before meeting Yuma could teach him how to cherish the time with his partner that he still has.
Conclusion
Like I mentioned it in the beginning – this would more or less be fix-it story. While I’m okay with ZEXAL ending (better than the one in manga at least), ARC V and VRAINS are in dire need for a better ending so overall, the ending conclusion will give the three series a much more conclusive ending. While I love to write a good angst and bitter sweetness for the end, I do no plan to end it this way (especially after binge watching two anime series in a row that had bitter-sweet but hella sad endings). This will have to be a feel-good ending with cheese on top or at least hopeful feel. I’m aiming for similar conclusion as Bonds Beyond Time, with three protagonists parting ways in hopes that they did the right thing and that they can return back to the worlds that they no longer need to fear they will break.
Tumblr media
The endgame will be obviously with Yu-boys coming back, Ai reuniting with Yusaku and Numeron Code being sealed away or if possible destroyed. If I’m going with “Yuma screwed up ARC V and VRAINS with Numeron Code” way, then I’ll really need to find a good reason to get rid of it or at least find a logical way how. Also he will be dealing with massive guilt and responsibility so maybe… Yuma might go Iron Man with it and others will need to stop him (that might lead to a secondary final duel or more like rescue duel, kinda mirroring final duel between Yusaku and Ai).
So yeah there will be a lot of conclusions to go through, especially if I include original antagonists, though I’m not that sure about it yet.
If anyone has any other ideas, suggestions, theories or anything else related to this topic, feel free to leave it below or PM me. I would love to hear your thoughts on this idea and it will really help me gather more ideas and material for this project that I would really love to write, not just for myself but for all other members of Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom as well.

Hey I'm sorry to bother you, but I was putting together a post about david harbour's cryptic instagram posts and one in specific where it is explained how rainbows work and then randomly "a pale stuffed yellow lion" is mentioned and I remember you had a post where you mention the lion symbolism in stranger things. I know we shouldn't put too much faith in what actors say about there shows, just wondering what your thoughts were
@helloitisiamazing messages/questions are never a bother, so don’t worry about it :)
 I don’t have instagram, so I didn’t know about this …
But i think this relates to my DiD theory (about Will). Please read theory first to avoid confusion.
The prequel novel established Psychics hallucinate rainbows when they use their powers.
In the prequel novel “Suspicious Minds” Both Alice and Terry when using their powers had hallucinations of a rainbow, Kali also formed a visual-allusion of sunflowers and a rainbow (implying all 3 have seen this rainbow, as well, when using their powers). And when Will was very young- he drew that ‘rainbow ship’-implying he has powers .
-Terry: “Spots bloomed behind her eyelids. Every color … as the sunlight turned to rainbows” ( p44-45), “The rainbow stayed with Terry for a long while, but eventually it faded and in its place: darkness. A pit.”(p. 48).  “streaks of rainbow appeared (p47)”, “Wavy rainbows seemed to radiate from her hand even once she stilled it. (p. 88). “Her eyelids drifted shut, rainbows and sparks flying behind them. (p. 89).
-Alice: (who sees visions of the future) : “Snarling, snapping monsters, rainbow lights playing in the air around them (p. 121).
-Kali using her powers: “field of yellow sunflowers grew up around them. A rainbow arcing over the golden tops.” (p. 139).  “He noticed she’d (Kali) drawn up there, a rainbow with her colored pencils.” Maybe he’d suggest that for the playroom” (the rainbow room we see in s2) (p. 298)
In the show, Terry also saw sunflowers and would chant “sunflower, rainbow” over and over -and in s2 Will had a sunflower book. And we were told Will drew a rainbow ship.
As far as Lions:
Will in s1 had a stuffed female lion and El had a male lion.
Tumblr media
“Chinese guardian lions-are lion statues that are common guardians of villages (*Hawkins) and even private homes (*Castle Byers and El’s bed room).  These lions can be a sign of protection of an individual or family. These lions are always depicted in pairs consisting of a male and a female, the female representing yin and the male yang. The ever-changing relationship between them is responsible for the constant flux of the universe. When, there is too great an imbalance between Yin and Yang, catastrophes can occur.”
Tumblr media
I think this explains a very significant aspect of the show. When El was in great distress, she opened the gate- causing the disasters that later occurred in Hawkins. And after Will disappears, El appears to the audience for the first time. Hopper even tries to track down El, assuming it was Will who’s hair was shaved- because a witness said the kid with the buzzcut “could of been the Byers boy”. Mike even says “Do you really think it’s a coincidence we found her in the same place Will disappeared?”
The answer being ‘no, it wasn’t a coincidence. We see as the show goes on, El who has never had a normal life, slowly gain normalcy in it. However, Will, at the same time, who was born into a relatively normal circumstances, has had his life become stranger and more entrenched in the supernatural. And as of the first 3 seasons, they’ve barely interacted (let alone bonded/are in balance)! They are imbalanced and because of this (symbolically)… catastrophe after catastrophe continue to occur!
When either Yin or Yang falls out of balance, they affect each other. That means they change their proportion and relationship to one another to achieve a new balance. There is normally a harmonious balance of Yin and Yang. However, they weaken — or consume — one another when they fall out of balance.”
“As an increase in one brings a corresponding decrease in the other, a correct balance between the two poles must be reached in order to achieve harmony”. “yin-yang represents the coherent fabric of nature and the mind (control of their psychic powers/ Will’s did & alters), and the interactions between the waxing and waning of the cosmic and human realms, and its harmonization (the real world vs the upside down/innerworlds)”
- Also…“Yin represents femininity, and water. While Yang represents masculinity and fire.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The water and fire analogy is a consistent theme in the show. Will is always referenced with fire in both the comic and show . He drew his wizard character shooting fireballs in s1 and in the first ep he rolled the dice and yelled “fireball”, he had the ‘shadow monster ‘ exorcised out of him with fire, and in the comic he shoots a demogorgan and yells “fireball”. El’s element or ‘substance would be the opposite of fire, “water” - the sensory deprivation tanks are filled with water, the void floor is covered in water, she escaped the lab through a drainage pipe, was found by the gang in rain, looked at a reflection of herself in a puddle and cased ripples in it using her powers,  in s3 is shown sinking in water /using goggles.
*When Hopper saw Will’s lion plushie in the upsidedown he had a flashback of sarah with her tiger plushie.
Will even has a tiger poster (shown in s1 &2) which is associated with both Sara Hopper & Kali.
Kali’s fav animal in the prequel novels is tigers. And Sara has a stuffed tiger (similar to El & Will’s stuffed felines).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In chinese mythology/culture: “The tiger is personified by the constellation Orion (interesting given Sara’s interest in space/blackholes). The tiger represents protection over human life (hmm?). Tiger charms were used to keep away evil and disease (that’s awful ironic if she died in the manner she did). In Buddhism, wearing tiger skins during meditations was believed to bring protection from spiritual interference and potential harm while exploring astral dimensions.”
Kali in ‘Suspicious Minds’ says…
“I was named after a goddess. She wore a tiger skin and was fierce in battle.”
Then Kali says to Alice (a women who can see future visions): “I love you, Alice. We can be tigers together.”
This parallel (in relation to Alice) is fascinating because Kali actually uses her powers to fake Alice’s death- and to trick Dr. Brenner, and allow Alice to escape. The allusion was so realistic, that Terry could even touch the ‘dead’ Alice.
So the tiger symbolism could be a HUGE hint- that Sarah’s death was simulated and she’ll come back and travel the innerworlds/alternate dimensions of Will’s mind (as Hopper’s guide). Hopper about sarah “galaxies the universe-she always understood that stuff.”
* so yes… Sara will come back. Since alters can have simulated ‘deaths’ and then resurrect later.
Also… a little of topic, but there’s a lot of animal symbolism in the series
- the fox, the owl, and the bear. We see this in El’s room (in Terry’s house) and castle Byers/ the byers house (in s1).Will has a bear and fox illustration in castle byers and a stuffed teddy bear in his room (in s1) and a stuffed owl (in s2). While El has multiple stuffed bear plushies (in s2-3) . And Terry (in El’s room, in s1-2) had fox and owl drawings on El’s bedroom wall.
Foxes, bears, and owls are all associated with wisdom - aka ‘Will the wise’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*El’s room at Terry’s house also has bunnies (a ref to how Lonnie made Jonathan-and prob Will kill bunnies on hunting trips). The white rabbit is also a ‘alice and wonderland ‘ ref (when El was at Benny’s an alice and wonderland song played called -white rabbit).
Tumblr media
* Also the first time we see butterflies (associated with kali) is actually in s1e1 cause there’s a butterfly painting above the phone Will electrocuted.
Tumblr media
blue butterflies usually represents many things- love, change or rebirth, passage of time, or  a malicious or vindictive spirit. These examples are prob the most applicable. Given that Kali is a goddess paradoxically associated with motherly love and violence ,giving freedom to children, and only killing demons in folklore.cough like those working at the Hawkins lab.
I Updated/revised this old post because i think it’s another solid did hint I wanted to talk about. David is (probably) showing us how his character is an alter of Will’s similar to Kali, El, Terry, and Sarah. Why he brings up the sunflowers/rainbows which are both connected to Will and the others I mentioned. I think it’s very possible sarah comes back -and Hopper while exploring the various ‘innerworlds’ of Will’s minds (like the Russian one, the memory scapes , etc ) reunites/ finds Sarah .And Sarah helps him . look at some of the season 4 movies:  In ‘what dreams may come” a guy with his dead kid explore a heaven like world influenced by a painter’s emotions. We also have the movie ‘inside out’ -which involves “memory islands” (distinct worlds based on a child’s memories) which are influenced negatively by the kid being depressed since she moved to California. The characters traveling to these memory islands are constructs of  kid’s mind -and 1 of them also has a guide helping them explore the ‘memory islands’.in  Inception a guy says he’s a construct of a guy’s mind and needs to help/protect him escape the many different Ievels of the dream world.Hopper about sarah says “galaxies the universe-she always understood that stuff.” And sarah being associated with ‘tigers which are supposed to be used for protection while exploring astral dimensions (could foreshadow this).” I kind of assume movies like inception, matrix, Truman show, total recall, the cell, enter the void, wizard of oz, Peter Pan , hellraiser 2, dreamwarriors, bill & ted’s bogus journey, and  welcome to marwen ,  also allude to this: because they involve entering simulated abstract worlds usually created from happy& traumatic memories / fears . And bladerunner 2044/total recall has the theme of false implanted memories… relating to hopper realizing he’s an alter and not in “actual Russia.” Before seeing the other segments of the innerworlds. Like in total recall- the bad ass spy is told all his memories:his wife/ years of marriage ,even his name, are just implanted memories. And she says “you’re life is a dream.” . And she says “you’re life is a dream.” Meanwhile (in assasain’s creed) an evil psychiatrist tells a character trapped at the facility -who can explore memories of another person (and who’s dad killed their mom-aka sort of like papa/terry ) that the reason she can go into a person’s memories is cause it’s her past life (aka El’s an alter). So I think that will play out in s4-5 somehow.
This hint also reminds me of when David played d&d and made his character  a fireweilding wizard (who’s powers appeared at 14),  has a ‘special connection’ to fin’s paladin, and doesn’t know who his dad is.

Three Houses Playthrough, Pt I
Okay so first off
Tumblr media
Black Eagles.
People kept asking for my choice when I thought it would be obvious (hello, lady lords???) but then I remembered how much I love Sharp Jokers and Sad Boys, so. That’s fair. Watching the three lords interact in the first chapter made the choice that much harder, too.
More coherent version of my twitter thread under the cut!
My experience with this game thus far has been the exact tone of incredulity in my friend’s voice when he kicked my door open with his Switch in a box.
“Hey??” he said, wide-eyed. "It’s good??”
Thirty seconds into the opening cutscene I was all aboard for the image of our ~beautiful heroine~ brutally stabbing her enemy to death, multiple times, onscreen, before hugging her sword and smearing her face with blood.
Anyway I’m only a few months into the monastery phase (just found the kidnapped Flayn and now I’m in a battle with switches and teleport squares???), so all this comes with a grain of salt, BUT.
Some random things:
Dmitri’s opening lines about needing to trust your friends sure do give me a Bad Feeling
Props to the character selection for asking you to “choose a form” instead of [professor oak voice ]Are you a boy or a girl
I like that you can still use weapons after you break them
Enemy mages in plague doctor masks?? I’m here for it
TEA PARTIES!!!!!! TEA PARTIES
My husband and I have adopted absolutely everyone. I see the lengths the script went to in order to establish that you and your students are close in age and forego a certain number of formalities, which alleviated a few of the concerns I had coming into the game, but I still went into Teacher Mode immediately and all of these gremlins are my babies. I’m currently trying to poach Annette & Mercedes (they have to come together!!), Ingrid, and Ashe.
I’m also really charmed by so many members of my own house. When my husband and I saw that one of Dorothea’s dislikes is “herself”, we had a meltdown in the living room. I think I also accidentally steered her toward being a romantic option, but when she sarcastically asked me “Are you going to take care of me when I’m old?” I couldn’t say no!! That’s my baby girl!! I’m gonna take care of ALL my kids!!
I’m particularly protective of Petra -- I’ve spoken before about wanting to see the element of adopted hostages in a Norse-heavy franchise about children in war, but now I have it and I’m so upset about it.
Anyway, I’m super into the complex themes that have risen already. The political worldbulding is so intricate, the Church is clearly the bad guy here but in the  insidious way that makes this seem authentic instead of tropey, and the cast gets absolutely traumatized after seeing their first battle. They’re hinting at a conflict between Rhea, who will punish “sinners” without flinching, and Edelgard, who has literally said “If God is in the way of your ambition then fuckin fight God.” -- I think there’s also an interesting element here of attaching Crests and bloodlines so strictly to religion, and I think that’ll come up in a lot more detail later. (Which is great because I would’ve loved to have more of that in Jugdral.) My husband chose Blue Lions so it was fascinating to see the contrast between Edelgard and Dimitri after the fight with Lonato. Things escalate really fast too, at least with the Eagles -- Hubert’s C support is a blatant death threat from a student and Caspar’s C support involves chasing down an intruder who promptly commits suicide rather than be apprehended. AND THEN YOU FIGHT MIKLAN AND WE’VE JUST GOT DEMON MONSTERS I GUESS.
I’m very Wary of my baller new sword; it’s clear that Rhea wants me to have it for her own gain, but also that Edelgard seeks to keep me at her side now that I have it too.
Outside of the Lord Trio, I think my favourite character so far is Ferdinand! A few friends and I have been shaking each other because we don’t want to like him but we can’t help ourselves. Horse Boy is winning us over fast; his flaws make for entertaining supports with the others and he really does have a good grasp of True Chivalry and an earnest desire to use his position of power to help other people.

; I’ve been working on some sub-verses and some AU verses for Mary, you can find them HERE ! Anyone is free to request them when you like a starter call or send me a meme, or plot with me! ooor honestly just toss them at me if you write me a starter! They include verses for Harry Potter, historical/legendary/epic settings, The Vampire Diaries/The Originals, The Hundred, Bates Motel, a college verse, The Following and a Heroes/Marvel/DC/etc verse. She is still Bloody Mary, the spirit, in all of them, but there are twists. I still want to have an OUAT verse, maybe a pirate verse and a few others, but these will come later.
The verses are under the cut for my own reference but if you wanna check them out you should go HERE because I have more pretty icons there and you should appreciate them haha!
v; slithering through mirrors (Hogwarts)
Tumblr media
Mary Worthington was a 5th year Slytherin student at Hogwarts, but something had changed by the time 6th year started. Her friends and other students could tell something was off-- Mary was skipping a lot of classes and sometimes her eyes would spontaneously bleed. The professors didn’t acknowledge it or brushed it off, but they added a mysterious mirror to the Slytherin girls’ dormitory; they knew what happened. Mary kept it a secret from everybody else but the truth was she was dead now. Murdered during the summer between 5th and 6th year, her restless, vengeful spirit attached itself to a mirror. The magical energy surrounding Hogwarts helps her stay corporeal and out of the mirror (though she can still be summoned too), and the legend of Bloody Mary has yet to spread. Who killed her, how she died and the mythology behind the mirror, the summoning, the killing etc are exactly like in Mary’s main verse, but she is a born witch here; no demonic deals needed. Also note she is eternally sixteen in this verse, the only verse where she is underage.
v; the legend of the dead witch (historical)
Tumblr media
Not a fandom-specific verse but geared toward anything that as a mythological, legendary, epic, historical or fairytale vibe. Mary Worthington was a well known powerful witch, who traveled between kingdoms and used her abilities to help others, often staying in kingly courts or powerful covens. She gained her magic not through a demonic deal but through a deal with one of the Fae, a member of the Seelie Court (the fae’s identity is thread-dependent!), who favored Mary due to her open heart and closeness with nature. Her powers are mostly relating to working with the elements, healing, glamours and of course using herbs, but can wander into darker territories if necessary. Her fame granted her many admirers but not all were convinced; some feared and were threatened by anyone who possessed magic. It was one such man who wounded her with iron (a weakness inherited from her Fae patron) and murdered her while her magic was bound. He gouged out her eyes and she tried to write a blood spell on the mirror, but couldn’t finish it before succumbing to her injuries. Perhaps it was a combination of the Fae folk watching over her, her half-done ritual on the mirror and the anger and trauma of the murder that brought her back to life, as the vengeful ghost of Bloody Mary (the summoning/killing rules are the same as in her main verse!). But instead of fading into being thought of as a myth, she made sure everyone knew she was still around, murdering those that kept murderous secrets and even innocents if they didn’t summon her correctly. She maintained her presence on the courts and covens, still trying to use her powers for good whenever she could, and her fame only grew.
v; blood sacrifices (TVD/TO)
Tumblr media
When a witch dies with vampire blood in her system, she loses her magic and ceases being a witch; everyone knows that. But what happens if a soul that is to become a restless, vengeful spirit has vampire blood inside her upon her death? Something weird, and Bloody Mary is proof of it. Her backstory in this verse is the same as her main verse, up until the murder and attempt to write the killer’s name on a mirror. She died and was brought back to life because of the vampire blood in her system, given to her by a friend who knew a killer was after her. Mary didn’t want to live like that, so she refused to feed and died again, peacefully. That should’ve been the end, but the anger and trauma of the murder and the injustice that the murderer was never caught brought her back as the vengeful spirit known as Bloody Mary, same as the main verse. The difference is, something of the vampiric blood still affected her: she grew fangs and could sustain herself by drinking blood. Unlike a vampire, she doesn’t need to feed (she is still a ghost, after all), but whenever she’s out of the mirror, in corporeal form, she can increase the length of time she’s free by consuming the vital life energy contained in blood. Hearing that Mystic Falls and New Orleans are hotbeds of supernatural activity, she traveled to those locations in search of something that could free her from mirrors and end the curse of the bloody Mary once and for all. [Please note that her strengths and weaknesses remain that of a ghost, not a vampire. Her eyes flash red and fangs grow when she feeds and that’s about all the vampiric you get from her!]
v; space pocket mirror (The 100)
Tumblr media
Mary Worthington was 21 when she lived on the Ark. There was a little girl she cared for like she was her own sister, and the girl got sick. Instead of a demonic deal for witchy powers like on her main verse, in this verse Mary’s solution was much more mundane. She stole antibiotics and saved the girl, but she got caught. Arrested, and floated. Her mother watched, and cried, clutching a pocket mirror Mary had given her as a way to remain close to her family in the afterlife. The last thing Mary saw as she drifted into space was this blinding light that hurt her eyes, and then she was dead. And then she was back--- kind of, thanks to the anger over her death sentence being unfair, and seeing her mother’s grief. Mary’s spirit was stuck inside the mirror now, bloody tears coming from her eyes, the only way to free her was with a surge of energy...which she didn’t know about. When The 100 were sent down to Earth, someone took the mirror too, unknowingly bringing Bloody Mary along for the ride and separating her from her family again. The violence freed her from her prison (the mirror/summoning rules are the same as her main verse) and a girl that lived her whole life in space has to learn to adapt to living on a nearly empty Earth, among nature and enemies.
v; the eyes are the windows to the soul (The Following)
Tumblr media
I’ve yet to come across any muses from TF, but a girl can hope (this verse works well with any police investigation type of universe, anyway!) With Mary’s canon death involving her eyes being gouged out, and Joe Carroll’s canon MO being exactly that, the verse kind of wrote itself. Mary was a modern day witch, pursuing an English degree at Winslow University, Virginia, right around the time the Virginia Campus Murders started . Nobody suspected the rather well-liked (and Edgar Allan Poe obsessed, thus equating beauty with death) literature professor, Joe Carroll, of being a serial killer. Unfortunately for Mary, she fit his victim profile to a T, and he killed her. Drawing her last breaths, she wrote the letter J on a mirror, attempting to write the name of the killer, but she died before finishing. Several other female students would still be murdered before FBI agent Ryan Hardy apprehended Joe. The traumatic death and the anger at the injustice kept Mary’s spirit trapped in mirrors, and from that point on everything is the same as her main verse, with one addition: when the cult of Joe emerged she did her best to work with the police to find them, but only very few people within the task force knew one of Joe’s victims had returned as a ghost.
v; peering through a broken mirror (Bates Motel)
Tumblr media
A sub-verse that is part of her main verse, started as a thing between me and ofwrittenschemes’ Norman but open to anyone that wants to interact within this setting! Everything is the same as the main verse up until two girls who are staying at the Bates Motel decide to play the Bloody Mary game, summoning Mary who has no choice but to kill them. Just as the now-corporeal ghost stepped out of the mirror, motel manager Norman came into the room and Mary had to quickly pretend that she was a victim too, the only survivor of a paranormal attack. Little does she know that Norman is hiding something too. Now Mary is staying in White Pine Bay, a small town with a history of crime, conspiracies and mob wars, and the pair have some crimes to cover up, some crimes to try and solve, and they have to decide whether to trust each other with their secrets or not. At least until Mary’s time is up and she’s swept back into the mirror.
v; haunted sorority house (college)
Tumblr media
Also a sub-verse that is part of her main verse, meaning everything is the same up until she is summoned by some college boys playing the Bloody Mary game. They die, the energy lets her loose on campus, where curiosity and a desire to live a normal life make her decide to stay and blend in, pretending to be a student with an undeclared major. She even manages to rush a sorority, all while keeping her ghostly identity a secret from most.
v; vengeful vigilante (Heroes/DC/Marvel)
Tumblr media
Also a sub-verse that is part of her main verse, meaning everything is the same up until the rise of superheroes and supervillains. The wave of vigilante crime fighting resonates with Mary, who decides to put her supernatural skills to good use whenever she’s out of the mirror and learns how to physically fight too. She finds those guilty of murder and gets them arrested or, sometimes, killed. Whenever she’s out crime fighting she wears black, ties her hair up and often times she’s crying blood; Mary doesn’t bother with a mask because she can’t be caught or found anyway--- she lives in mirrors and is a spirit that died centuries ago. She goes by Blood Tears, but many people refer to her as Bloody Mary because she ‘reminds them of the urban legend’, not realizing she is, in fact, the urban legend. They usually assume she’s some kind of metahuman/evo/mutant that can travel through mirrors and/or control blood. She’s not a hero, she’s an antihero who is not above murder and petty crimes if they help her stop other killers.

The Gamer Hero, Deku Chapter 16
A/N: By the way, I got the app now, so I have gained the awesome power to write fanfiction ANYWHERE (as long as there's service). That might speed up my writing a bit, so yay for you guys I guess.
Though at the same time I have finals and stuff, so it might take a bit to update after this...
digimak2: Not exactly. First, there's the fact that technically, most of them have already been doing magic, in the form of their Quirks, without even realizing it. Second, there's the fact that we've only seen members of Yuuei doing magic. People often forget this because of Kaminari and Mineta, but Yuuei's supposed to be the best of the best. Normal people wouldn't show nearly as much talent at first.
xoxoxo
"So did you do it?" I asked Tsu and Uraraka when I saw them by the front gate.
"No, not yet," Tsu said. "We're still practicing with the spells, kero."
"Oh, and I think I found a new element!" Uraraka added. "I remembered how you said you had more fire and water affinity because of your parents' Quirks, and I asked my dad about the specifics of his Quirk. Turns out his fingerpads actually latch onto things using some kind of magnetic thing, which means I can use some kind of weird magnet element!"
"So what, like electricity?" Kacchan asked.
"Not exactly," Uraraka said, then pulled out a small metal ball. "Watch." The ball started floating.
"No offense, but that isn't exactly a new trick for you," I said.
She grinned. "Yeah, but what about this?" The ball glowed lightly around the middle, then split cleanly in half. "I did say it was a weird magnet element, remember?"
"Did you just break the bonds between its atoms down?" I asked. "Uraraka, please be careful with that."
"I know what happens when you split an atom, Deku. Oh, and also I got another elemental, so that's a thing."
"Cool," Kacchan said. "How 'bout we get to the classroom so you can summon them."
xoxoxo
"So you have how many elementals now?" Jirou asked me.
I summoned them, pulling out materials when needed. "Ten."
"Sup," Iggy said.
"Right. Hey, can I have the elemental spell? I was gonna ask you at the USJ, but..."
I nodded. "Oh, yeah, totally. Hang on." I pulled a leaf out of my inventory, giving it to Juniper. "Watch this." The leaf expanded and changed into a piece of wood, which paper then sprouted from. There was just something really cool about handing people scrolls with spells written on them. When Juniper was done, I handed Jirou the scroll.
"Little overkill, but thanks. I take it she's your plant elemental?"
"Bio, but yes," Juniper said.
"Can we show you our elementals now?" Tsu asked. I nodded. Tsu summoned a ball of water and Uraraka created some form of almost-visible ripple in the air that I could feel with Fuckery Detection. It definitely wasn't gravity, though. The water and ripple both expanded and turned blue, becoming humanoid. Tsu's water formed into a small boy with dark blue hair and clothes, though with a lighter blue ruffle on his collar.
"Hi, everyone!" he said with a bright smile. "I'm Bubbles!"
"Bubbles?" Kirishima asked.
"Yeah!" Bubbles created a white bubble wand with a pink loop for the bubbles. He waved it, forming some oddly thick bubbles that looked like they were made purely out of water. "Bubbles!" The water bubbles floated like normal bubbles, though.
Meanwhile, Uraraka's ripple formed into an androgynous child that also had blue hair and clothes, though theirs looked... metallic, I guess? Their eyes had black sclera and red irises. "Greetings," they said. "My name is Ion."
"Didn't you already have an elemental, Uraraka?" Yaoyorozu asked.
"Yeah. Nebby's a gravity elemental, but Ion here's..." She paused, then looked at Ion. "Actually, what element are you, exactly? I know you're some kinda magnetic element, but..."
"My element has had many names in the past because of its seemingly erratic nature," Ion said, closing their eyes. "Alchemy, matter, reality, chaos, cataclysm, destruction, attraction. These names are a result of people at the time not knowing what exactly it affects and not thinking to ask. However, it does have a true, proper name: particle. Think of it like a culmination of the three fundamental forces of nature that are not gravity, as it allows for the manipulation of the electromagnetic and nuclear forces." They opened their eyes. "Is that a sufficient explanation?"
Uraraka looked a little worried. "Those... Were words. That you said. So like, Full Metal Alchemist plus magnet powers?"
Ion blinked. "I do not know what this Full Metal Alchemist is, but I assume so. In fact, a rather simple application of it is the spell Compass, which allows one to feel magnetic fields, including Earth's."
"Actually," Yaoyorozu said, "I think I might also be able to use this... particle element."
Ion nodded. "My senses indicate you to be right. Perhaps you might be willing to demonstrate?"
"Of course." Yaoyorozu made a small cube of what my Observe told me was wood with her Quirk, then used magic on it, reshaping it into a sphere.
"You are correct. That was an application of particle magic, Quirk and spell both."
Yaoyorozu nodded and pocketed the ball. "Thank you. Jirou, could I please borrow that scroll Midoriya gave you when you're done with it?"
"Sure," Jirou said.
"I can make another if you need," I said.
"No, that's fine."
"Classmates!" Iida shouted as he burst through the door. "Class will start soon! Take your seats!"
I looked around. Aside from the elementals, who didn't have seats, the only person who wasn't sitting was Iida. "Umm... I guess we should probably unsummon the elementals too?" I said.
He sighed. "Yes, Midoriya, I see my mistake." He walked to his desk as our elementals said goodbye.
"Hey, so who's going to be teaching today?" Ashido asked as she leaned back in her chair. "Aizawa-sensei's probably still out, so..."
The door opened. I facepalmed when I saw Aizawa walking through the door. "Alright, class. I'm glad to see you're in your seats already." He had bandages wrapped around his eye and one of his arms was in a sling. I noticed that, with the level ups I'd gained from USJ, I could see his title and level now.

Aizawa Shōta
"Aizawa-sensei, are you sure you're good to be teaching," I asked.
He stared at me, raised his hand, and did he just cast Regeneration? "I'm fine, Midoriya. And Recovery Girl insisted on teaching me healing spells just in case. Now, the first item on the agenda. The school's counselor, Hound Dog, would like me to remind you all that there is no shame in visiting his office after a traumatic event, and that it doesn't make you any less of a hero. In fact, I'm going to see a therapist soon, though that's more because of my tendency to isolate myself leading to the degradation of my relationship with my family than anything else... Next, I'm sure you've noticed by now that one of your classmates isn't here."
A wave of confusion rolled over the class. We were? I couldn't think of anyone who was gone, and it seemed that neither could the rest of the class. "Wh-For the love of..." Aizawa sighed. "Mineta. It's Mineta. After the USJ incident, he decided to transfer to the general education course." I winced. That might've partially been my fault... "On to better news, then... The last thing I have to say for today is that we will be having the Yuuei sports festival in a few weeks."
"Yeah, the sports festival!" Kaminari shouted.
"Is it really a good idea to still have the festival after what happened?" Jirou asked.
"C'mon, Jirou, don't ruin this..."
Aizawa nodded. "It's a fair concern, but Nedzu seems to think that this'll show the public that we've dealt with the problem. And we're going to up our security, so we are dealing with the problem. I feel I should remind you all, this is probably your best opportunity to get scouted, so put your best foot forward. And finally, Bakugou."
Kacchan perked up at the sound of his name. "Yeah, teach?"
"Because you had the best score in the entrance exam, you're giving the speech at the beginning. If you need any tips, ask the principal or All Might. Class dismissed."
A buzz of excitement filled the room. The sports festival! Yuuei's sports festival was seen around the nation, and even in other countries. "Everyone's fired up, huh?" I said.
"Of course we are!" Kacchan shouted. "It's the fucking sports festival!"
"Of course!" Iida agreed. He was excitedly fidgeting in a way that made it look like he was dancing. Or he was doing some kind of happy dance. "Our goal is to become heroes! This is our chance to prove ourselves to the hero agencies of Japan!"
"I'm fired up!" Uraraka shouted. She had the most intense face I'd ever seen on her. A visible glow of pink surrounded her, and I could feel the gravity fluctuations from a few meters away. "I'm gonna win this thing!" She punched the air above her, and a wave of altered gravity rattled ceiling.
"Not if I beat you!" Kacchan shouted.
"You're pretty excited, huh, Ochako-chan?" Tsu commented.
"Yeah, that excitement's pretty manly!" Kirishima cheered.
"Uraraka, I understand your excitement, but please curb your magic before you destroy something!" Iida shouted.
It was then that she noticed the gravity she was putting out. "Oh. Sorry."
xoxoxo
"So..." I said later, when we were in the hallway. "Why are you so determined to win, Uraraka?"
She stopped. "Um... Well..." She hesitated.
"Are you okay, Ochako-chan?" Tsu asked.
She nervously touched the tips of her fingers together. "Well... it sounds kinda bad..."
"I'm sure it's not that stupid," Kacchan said. "Fuck, the grape said he was only in it for the ladies. Can't be much worse than that."
She blushed. "Well, see, the thing is that I'm kinda... in it for the money..."
"Yeah, I can see that," Tsu said.
Her blush deepened. "D-don't get me wrong! I also wanna help people, but..."
"Your family," I guessed. "You said that money's tight, so you want to help them out, don't you?"
"Yeah," she said. "Cousin Shōta sends us some money, but we only accept so much because he'd probably not leave anything for himself if we didn't. I want to be able to support my parents and make sure Shōta doesn't have to worry about us at all, so I need to sign with a good agency."
Iida started clapping. "How inspiring! A truly selfless goal! I am sure you will do magnificently!"
She smiled. "Thanks, Iida."
"If you wanna learn some hand-to-hand, I'll help," Kacchan offered.
"So will I, kero," Tsu added.
"Yeah, I'm sure I can help you with your magic," I said.
She smiled. "Thank you all."

I opened the door to the teachers' lounge. I thought back to earlier, when I was about to leave the classroom.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Midoriya," Aizawa-sensei said. "I'd like to speak to you, when you have the time."
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"No, everything's fine. I'd just... like to get your opinion on something."
So I excused myself during the lunch break to see what he wanted. I saw that he was on the phone, so I decided to politely wait for him to finish. "It wouldn't have been a bother at all, Obasan," he growled to whoever was on the other side of the phone, presumably his aunt.
Sonia offered to give me the other half of the conversation, but I declined.
"In fact, I would've loved to have her over." He made a frustrated noise, then took a deep breath. "Yes, I haven't visited in a while. I apologize for that. But I would have preferred she been with me than having noone in an unfamiliar environment." He scoffed at something his aunt said. "Okay, she's with a friend now, but what about before then?" He sighed. "Well, just so you know in the future, it wouldn't have been a bother at all. You're family. Goodbye." He hesitated for a bit. "Love you too," he sheepishly added, then hanged up. He sighed. "Why is my entire family so damn selfless..."
"Um..." Aizawa turned to face me. "I think maybe you are too," I said. "You should probably be in the infirmary still."
He pointedly cast Regeneration again. "I'm fine. Now, I'm sure you want to know why I wanted to talk to you?"
"Was it related to magic?" I asked.
"Yes. I've managed to figure out some simple strengthening magic, and now I suppose I know some healing spells." He frowned. "Saying this out loud feels like I'm playing some kind of RPG, but I guess that's life now."
I laughed. "Tell me about it, my Quirk is literally video game logic." I thought for a bit. "Aside from elemental magic, I do have a few spells I could give you." I took out another leaf and turned it into a scroll.
"Showoff," he said as he placed it on his desk.
I shrugged. "Juniper, my new bio elemental, can make scrolls really fast."
"I guess that makes sense."
"This scroll has some non-elemental spells you might find useful. Next, do you mind if I use Observe on you?"
"Didn't you say you couldn't use that on me?"
"I can now because I leveled up enough."
He nodded. "Well then do it."
"Observe," I said. Oddly enough, he had ten fire affinity. "Did your father have a fire Quirk?" I asked.
"That's literally the only thing I knew about the bastard, why?"
I blinked. I was not expecting that. It was also kind of a coincidence, considering my father... "Well, you... have some fire affinity..."
"I see."
I made another scroll. "These are some fire spells. Speaking of your parents, what's your mother's Quirk? That might open up another elemental affinity for you."
"My mother's Quirk was Graviteyes. It let her erase gravity from an object by looking at it. I don't know where the Quirk-erasing part of my Quirk comes from, but I at least know that my mother's Quirk was the reason my hair floats when I use mine." His mom's Quirk reminded me of Uraraka's, actually...
"Are you related to Uraraka?" I asked.
He blinked. "How did you know?"
"Yesterday she said something about a cousin Shōta who lives around here. You just said your mother had a gravity-nullifying Quirk, like hers, and I just heard you talking to your aunt about a situation that sounded a lot like Uraraka's." And then I pointed at what looked like a family portrait. "And in hindsight, that little girl in the picture looks a lot like a young Uraraka."
"Yeah." He sighed. "She doesn't recognize me, though... I'm kind of a bad cousin."
"Well, I can't tell you much about gravity magic that you probably wouldn't be able to guess on your own because I don't have it yet, but Uraraka could." I smiled." And at the same time, I'm sure she'd love combat lessons from her cousin, especially with the upcoming sports festival. She wants to do good so she can help support her family."
He grinned. Then he started laughing. "You're good, problem child. I'll talk to her."
I nodded. "Then for the moment, let's start you off on fire. Make a ball of mana, then concentrate on merging it with fire."
He made the ball of mana and closed his eyes. After a few moments of concentration, the mana ball became a fireball. "There. What next?"
His level jumped up by one just from using fire magic for the first time. I'd noticed first with my classmates; it seemed like levels worked differently for people who weren't me. "That's a basic fire spell right there. Just play around with that and other spells and you should be good." I made another scroll and put it on the growing pile of scrolls on his desk. "Aside from that, you might want to consider contracting elementals. They have trouble translating their magic to something we can learn sometimes, but they do help a lot."
He stared at his fire. "Thank you, Midoriya. Your help has been invaluable." His level wavered for a moment. "This fire... No, this magic, I feel like I should be able to..." The fire changed colors to indigo and black as it roared to new heights for a moment before he got a hold of it again. Aizawa's level started scrolling up and up until it reached eighty-six, where it turned back into question marks. The heat from the fire felt... deeper than normal fire.
"That's... not normal fire," I said.
"Obviously."
"No, but even in terms of magical fire, your level increased enough that I can't see it anymore. Sure, you were apparently only seven levels from it before, but... to level up seven times at least from simply gaining the ability to use some kind of magic and not mastering it..."
He closed his hand, snuffing out that arcane fire. "So are you saying I got stronger by simply using this blue fire?"
I shook my head. "Not exactly. You might have, but it's more likely that it's just symbolic of how bad of an idea it would be to fight you. Levels seem to work that way for other people. But still, to gain so many levels at your level... The one thing I know for sure is that if you learn how to properly use whatever magic you just did, you probably won't have to worry about becoming more powerful anymore."
He stared at his hand. "Is that so? Thank you, Midoriya."
"Now could you please talk to Recovery Girl when you're done with work for the day."
He snorted. "Fine, problem child."
xoxoxo
Class was over for the day, so Uraraka opened the door to leave. She stopped, though, because there was a crowd of students in front of the doorway. "Why are you all here?" she asked.
"Do you need us for something?" I asked.
"They're scouting the competition," Kacchan said as he walked up to them. "Checking out the class that fought a bunch of villains and won, right?"
"So this is class 1-A," a voice from the back said. A very tired-looking boy with purple hair wilder than mine stepped forward.

He sneered. "You know, I wanted to be in the hero course, but my Quirk wasn't suited to the entrance exams. Did you know that if someone from gen ed does well enough in the sports festival, they can get transferred to the hero course? In other words, I've come here as a declaration of war. I'll be gunning for one of your spots in the sports festival."
"Oh hey," I said. "We actually had someone drop out after... well... you know, so you might get in if you try hard enough!"
He sighed. "Damn it, I was trying to be all cool..." He shrugged. "Well, I guess that's ruined. Just know that I'm hoping to become one of your class..."
"Good luck!" Uraraka said.
"Yeah, yeah..." He waved as he walked away.
"So! You guys're class 1-A, huh!?" someone else shouted.

He had silver hair and... I think that was fur around his eyes? "You guys were the ones who were in that villain attack, weren't you!?"
Kacchan glared at him. "What of it?"
"I'm from class 1-B, and I'm here to check out the competition!"
"You are class 1-A!" a third person shouted, a blonde this time.
Copycat

Monoma Neito
He sneered at us. "How arrogant. First you hoard all the magic to yourself, then you hoard all the media attention to yourself."
"Okay what the fuck was that last bit?" Kacchan asked.
He gave an arrogant pose. I'm pretty sure he copied that from a JoJo villain. "Of course, you jerks of class 1-A just so happened to gain the attention of the media within the first month of class. How arrogant."
An audible snap could be heard, followed by an oppressive, sweltering heat filling the room. An aura of fire surrounded Kacchan. "What. The fuck. Are you talking about?" He ground his teeth together. He looked like he was about to explode in more ways than one.
"You know what, fuck you all. I'd have told you all how to do some magic. It's only fucking fair. But if this is how you fucking react to a fucking class getting attacked by fucking villains, then fuck you. People almost fucking died, I don't think fucking anyone in the class would've actually asked for a fucking villain attack, and here you jackasses are throwing yourselves a fucking pity party over how you didn't get your five seconds of fame! Fuck off!" He vanished. With a low application of Space Invader, I was able to tell that the Illusion Barrier he made was filled with fire and he'd already left. Most of the crowd softened a bit after having been told off.
"Okay, you might have gone a bit too far there, Monoma..." Tetsutetsu said. Monoma harrumphed.
"If you guys wanted to learn magic, you could've asked," I said.
"Aren't you worried about your friend?" Monoma sneered.
"His temper can be a little explosive at times, as you just saw. It's best to give him a few minutes of alone time to cool down first. Now, just a quick show of hands, who wants to learn some basic magic." I counted the hands raised, then made a sheet of paper for each. "These are some basic nonelemental tricks and how to use affinity if you think you might have it. It might be a bad idea to disseminate some of the more advanced tricks to people without knowing how well they can be trusted with them, but at the very least this is more than enough to, if you're good enough, figure out something good." I placed the papers on a nearby desk. "Now I should probably go talk to him." I entered Kacchan's still-active Illusion Barrier.
xoxoxo
"Hey, Kacchan," I said quietly, and sat down next to him. I could guess from the ruined and smoldering building we were sitting in, but... "How are you feeling?"
He sighed. "I fucking exploded again. It keeps on happening." He played around with a tiny, candle-sized flame, changing its shape and color. It didn't do anything like Aizawa-sensei's fire, though. I guess it was special or something. I'd have to ask him about it later.
I shrugged. "Well you did get angry because someone called the class arrogant for getting attacked by villains, which is probably among the better reasons to get angry. And you did manage to blow up in here, where you can blow off steam without damaging anything in the real world. Probably a lot better than getting into a fight or something..."
He chuckled. "What the fuck did I do to deserve a friend like you?"
"Absolutely nothing."
This made him laugh even more. After a while, he said, "I'm probably going to take up Hound Dog's offer."
"Cool," I said. "I'm going to try to find that one Shinsou guy who walked off and see if he wants to learn magic. He might be fun to have in class."
xoxoxo
Uraraka walked into the teachers' lounge with Tsu. "Heeeey, little listeners!" Mic-sensei said when he noticed them. "What brings you here?"
"Aizawa-sensei asked to talk to me when class finished?" Uraraka said.
"Oh, is Shōta finally talking to her?" Midnight-sensei butted in.
"Wait, what?" Uraraka said.
"I knew it," Tsu said, looking at something. Uraraka followed her gaze to Aizawa-sensei's desk, where she saw a family portrait. The same family portrait that was hanging on her family's wall, one of the few photos they had with both her and her cousin... Shōta...
"Oh..." Uraraka said. Then it hit her. "WHAT!?" she shouted, then felt her face heat up a bit. She slapped her hands to her face. "How did I never notice that!? I even knew his Quirk!"
Tsu patted her on the back. "It's okay, Ochako-chan. Nobody wants to believe that their cousin is a scruffy, grumpy hobo..."
The door to the teachers' lounge closed, and Uraraka turned to see Aiza- cousin Shōta. "If I knew I was going to come back to my cousin's girlfriend calling me a scruffy, grumpy hobo, I'd have listened to more of Shuzenji-san's rant..."
Uraraka felt her face heating up, and Tsu quickly removed her arm from her back. "Ribbit," she whimpered, her face bright red.
"Ah, i-it's not like that," Uraraka said a little too quickly. "I-I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to... but she and I aren't..." She stopped when she heard Mic-sensei and Midnight-sensei laughing.
"That was a joke," Shōta grinned. Then his face fell. "Sorry for not visiting ever... I don't really have an excuse."
Uraraka shook her head. "No, it's okay. So uh, what did you need me for, or was that what you wanted to talk about?"
"No, I was actually going to talk about magic, though I was hoping to bring that up if I saw the opportunity. Did Midoriya tell you elemental affinity can be inherited?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I got something called particle affinity from Dad. I'm guessing you want tips on gravity?"
"Yeah. I'll help you with fighting, too. I have it on good authority that you want to make a splash in the sports festival."
Uraraka smiled. "Sounds great."
"If you don't mind, I'd also like some tips," Tsu said.
xoxoxo
A/N: Bubbles is a Popplio and Ion is a Beldum. Particle is weird, but generally any particle elemental would be a Pokémon that can either use a magnet-based move or is a psychic type that one could argue to fuck around with magnets or particles, same as gravity (though with gravity instead of magnet), though also maybe some electric and/or steel types if they're magnetic enough. I have a good idea of what Yaoyorozu's and Midoriya's (eventually) will be, but as always I'm open to suggestions.

Teen Wolf Review-Said the Spider to the Fly and Raw Talent
Tumblr media
Given that I just watched episodes 1 and 2 of season 6B one after the other, I decided to combine the reviews in one, because I’m too lazy to do two separate ones at the moment. Furthermore, these two episodes flowed together really well, from our main characters learning that there is a new battle to fight in Beacon Hills, to the realisation that much of this battle is the rest of the town’s fear of them. No doubt Gerard Argent will completely take advantage of this fear and weaponise it, aiming to end the lives of all supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills. This is sure to pit the pack and their allies against the whole town, and I must admit that I’m really interested to see how this all progresses.
Town Troubles
Particularly after the events pertaining to the Wild Hunt in season 6A, the non-supernaturals of Beacon Hills have started to become much more aware of the constant mysterious happenings in their town. In just these first two episodes, we’ve seen several students mention these incidents, from ‘Why does this keep happening to our school?’ just as the rats are crawling across the classroom floor, to the strange wolf showing up during lacrosse practice. Not only that, it becomes clear that some students have started to articulate what they have seen, rather than simply ignoring it and moving on as they have in the past. A kid that we have not seen before, Nolan, whilst talking to the new guidance counselor, mentions the animal attack that recently occurred in the library, but ‘Everybody knows that that was no animal’. He also describes the wolf on the lacrosse field as some type of wolf, wherein the counselor asks what other kinds are there. At the moment it appears that Nolan is going to act as a representation for how the other high school students feel about the supernatural events in Beacon Hills, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Gerard uses him to create hysteria.
There was just something suspicious about the new guidance counselor from the first moment that we met her, probably in most part due to her really unsubtle attempts to elicit some kind of information from Liam, Mason and Corey about the supernatural, but also in particular her very frank conversations with Nolan. Whilst Mason however appears to be somewhat aware of the nature of her remarks, the other two boys appear to be oblivious. But this is by no means all that the new counselor gets up to. When she isn’t quizzing the students about supernatural events in Beacon Hills, she’s actually going out as an amateur hunter. It is she who kills the surprising other hellhound that exists in town, frozen in Eichen House until he was needed. She also confronts Brett in the school’s parking lot and attempts to kill him, whilst he later comes close to killing her, before he is scared off by the presence of Gerard.
It is the end of episode 2 that Gerard finally shows up and reveals himself to be at the centre of what is happening, and essentially welcomes this new hunter, claiming that she has raw talent. It is clear that we are meant to presume that Gerard is responsible for the sudden increase in weapon sales from Chris, and that he will be using the current fear running rampant in Beacon Hills to his own advantage. These two episodes not only highlight the fact that the other students are wary of the pack, that they have not forgotten the recent supernatural incidents, but also that their fear is incredibly dangerous. The new guidance counselor knows absolutely nothing about these students, and yet she is willing to kill them. These supernatural beings have not harmed anyone, in fact they have continued to protect the town against supernatural attacks. But there is no distinction between good and bad. There is only the powerful supernaturals and the weal humans. Of course, this immediate categorisation of supernatural as bad and human as good by these hunters does not hold up against the history of Teen Wolf. Some of the most horrific attacks have been perpetrated by humans against supernaturals as a result of their hate and fear, and this appears to be where the show is directly heading now. This ignorance and fear of the unknown will undoubtedly adversely affect the main characters, who have always fought for the town. In the end they will surely win, but the question remains, who will they lose along the way?
Flashbacks
Something that I continue to be annoyed about on this show is the lack of focus on Lydia’s banshee powers, especially as it has been implied by other characters that she is nowhere near her full capabilities. There have been a few instances in which her powers have been showcased, but unlike most of the other characters, her powers have not been explored throughly at all, so I’m hoping that this changes this season. Particularly because Lydia’s powers are so different to werewolf powers which have obviously been the focus on this show, so it would actually be great to see more of what she could do. For the time being, we know about her premonitions and the incredible things she can do with her banshee scream, amongst others, but it’s clear that her powers haven’t reached their heights and I’d love to see more of this. She manages to save Parrish from the Eichen House doctor with her scream, after some incredibly traumatising flashbacks. It’s honestly completely understandable that Parrish went to Eichen House instead of Lydia because of what happened to her there. This is emphasised when she is initially hindered in her rescue efforts because she is frozen, frozen by her flashbacks surrounding the torture that she previously suffered at Eichen House. But Lydia is strong, and she fights back against these feelings in order to save Parrish, who she knows will die if she doesn't intervene immediately.
Lydia is not the only one experiencing traumatic flashbacks. Whilst in the woods with Lydia and Malia, Scott hears several heartbeats and then all he can see are hunters chasing him, as he tells Lydia and Malia to run. In fact, Scott’s memories of Chris hunting him are brought to the forefront of his mind on the discovery of the Argent bullet in killing the mysterious hellhound. Scott really does appear to be suffering some form of PTSD, as he imagines Chris hunting him like he used to, to the point of tackling the Sheriff, who he believes to be one of the hunters. It’s quite clear from the beginning that Scott is the only one who sees the hunters, and that makes this scene even more heartbreaking to watch. It’s heartbreaking not only because of what Scott once suffered at the hands of those hunters and that this remembrance is enough to cause him so much pain, but also because a single bullet is enough to imagine his current friend and ally hunting him again. Scott is driven by the memory of Chris hunting him, clearly devastated by the thought that Chris might be getting back into the hunting business, after everything that they’ve been through together. And yet, Scott continues to give Chris the benefit of the doubt, and doesn’t act on any of this, preferring instead to hear from the man himself. That demonstrates just how much faith he has in Chris, that even his fears and remembrance of this traumatic time cannot outweigh or influence how he feels about Chris today. That really says a lot about their relationship and how much it has developed since season 1. It’s truly one of my favourite relationships on this show, and I hope with Gerard in the picture, that Chris will be in many more scenes this final season.
IED
I think it’s important that yet again we come back to Liam’s struggles with anger. This was a significant aspect of his characterisation when he first appeared on the show back in season 4 (wow that seems so long ago!), and in a sense it has almost re-appeared as a critical element of Liam’s current situation. Whilst in season 4 Liam clearly struggled with his anger issues (and often failed), he slowly came to control not only his anger, but also his newfound strength as a werewolf. With Scott’s help, Liam was able to contain his anger to a certain point, and to maintain control over it. But given recent events, is it any wonder that he is yet again struggling to control his anger? Of course, this time we see Liam fighting for control in a way he didn’t initially, not only because he has already learned control, but also desperately wants control of his anger. Liam is no longer that kid pissed off at the entire world and ready to implode and destroy everything in his wake. He has friends and a purpose, and a whole lot to fight for, which he never had going for him before.
It’s also clear however, that his current struggles are just as much related to Hayden leaving and Scott about to leave for college, as they are about anything supernatural. In a sense, Liam is not only feeling abandoned by the people he cares about most (the very people that helped him to gain control), but also feels that he cannot live up to the impossibly high standards set by Scott as the pack leader. With Scott gone, Liam would be in charge of the remains of the pack, and is also now touted as lacrosse captain, so he’s clearly feeling a lot of pressure from so many different angles. It’s incredibly realistic that in such a situation, Liam again begins to struggle with control, and that’s why I think it’s important that the show continues to demonstrate this. At times it’s an uphill battle, but most importantly, it’s a battle that Liam chooses to fight everyday. For himself, and his friends. It’s also why I hated how Brett continued to try to rile him up all of the time, especially when he knows just how much strength Liam has.
Preparations
As Scott and Lydia are about to leave Beacon Hills for college, they also attempt to prepare their parents for their absence, at least in terms of dealing with the supernatural. Scott wants his mother to be protected, whilst Lydia wants to arm her mother with a list of all of the supernaturals at the school (why do I have a feeling that this list is going to end up in the wrong hands and end with the hunters targeting these children? Oh wait, that’s because in the history of everything, it has never been a good idea to keep lists like these because it just ends in them being murdered...I think you all know where I’m going with this). I’ve seen several articles that like to laugh up the fact that Scott and Lydia are finding it difficult to leave this town behind to some extent, that they feel the need to prepare their parents to protect this town. But the fact of the matter is, whilst they may be kids, these kids have protected the town from all kinds of monsters for several years now. They are both the first and last line of defence, so why on earth are we laughing about their anxieties over leaving the town partially undefended?
Of course Liam is still there, but he only has Corey who turns invisible and Mason who is a human that remains in the pack, and he doesn’t have Scott’s experience, or natural leadership qualities. Melissa has plenty of experience in healing supernatural wounds and has prepared for this, but she is not capable of fighting off supernatural beasts. And even though Chris Argent remains, he is one hunter, and whilst he has worked well with the pack, them all leaving is sure to create issues when big monsters come to town. I don’t think it’s at all ridiculous that anyone might be anxious over them leaving.
At the same time, I can understand Stiles urging Scott to leave Beacon Hills behind. After everything these kids have suffered to protect this town and each other, they truly do deserve a normal life. Unfortunately, everything starts to heat up just before Scott, Lydia and Maria are about to leave, and as such, they feel that they have to stick around a bit to help out. After all, they're not just leaving a town behind, they’re leaving behind family and friends that they cannot protect once they are gone. I also understand their decision not to involved Stiles yet, although we do know that he will come back at some point. I absolutely loved the small couple of scenes we got with him, and his reaction to Derek being pursued for mass murder (I assume they think it was he and not Kate that murdered his family?). Just as Derek never seemed to catch a break before, his terrible luck appears to continue.
New and Old
Not only are there new characters in the guidance counselor and Nolan, there will also be a variety of old characters returning throughout the last couple of episodes. In the season 6B previews, we have already seen that Derek will be making a return, which I am personally excited for, because he was one of my favourite characters and I've missed him over the last couple of years. Not only that, we have been told that Jackson will be coming back, and I am really interested to see just how he fits in to the narrative and what kind of relationship  he’ll have with the main characters after his sudden disappearance at the end of season 2. As we have seen, Gerard will have a major role, and that’s sure to stir up some old family issues between him and Chris. There’s another old villain who has returned, although he has not yet interacted with the other characters. I can’t believe that somehow this show made me feel sorry for Theo in episode 2, as he must constantly move around in order to get some sleep in his car. Theo’s introduction also serves another purpose, giving us insight into how all of those wolves died, with a spider crawling under his skin, and then he is taken by hunters. I’m actually more shocked that I felt sorry for him than anything else, and I suppose he will prove to be an invaluable ally to the pack sometime this season.
It is not just old and new characters that we have to look forward to this season, but also the romantic relationships between the main characters. Mason and Corey are obviously still going strong, although Hayden has left Beacon Hills (which is the most sane thing anyone on this show has ever done. Everyone please just leave and never come back), which has left Liam devastated. Whilst season 6A finally acted on the feelings that Lydia and Stiles clearly felt for each other, this new relationship is sure to remain a point of interest in the remaining few episodes, at least once Stiles shows up again. There is however a new relationship in store, and we have already seen hints of it from the preview trailers. Scott and Malia are clearly going to be set up together, and given that Allison is dead and Kira has left, it’s no surprise that the lead character would be set up with the only single female main character left. However, after watching their interactions in these two episodes, I surprisingly found myself not opposed to a potential relationship between the two of them. In fact, I quite enjoyed their dynamic, though I fear I will never love it as much as I love Stallison and Scira. The main problem I have is that Kira has been completely discarded when it wasn’t necessary and it’s like she’s been forgotten by both the writers and characters. On the other hand, Scott and Malia work better together than Stiles and Malia ever did.

SnK Chapter 92 Poll
I’ll be closing the chapter 92 poll tonight so this is your last chance if you’d like to chime in.
Take a Poll
I’ve received 406 responses thus far and 103 people have left comments. I especially appreciated this one
Did this very distractedly, watchin that Netflix show about OJ Simpson at the same time
Thanks, dude :P More chapter thoughts are below the read more
Reiner is getting hotter with each passing chapter. I fear we may rapidly be approaching a state of ultimate hotness that may be too much for us mere mortals to handle.
DA BEAST DADDY IS DA BEST DADDY.
Zeke's mid air transformation followed by a superhero landing is all I needed for my life to be complete
It's a boy!
I liked how much the new warriors look up to the older warriors How did Zeke drug Connies village if this is really required for his scream to work? And I wonder, are there eldians outside of Marly and paradis Island? Because the east sea nation don't have a high opinion of them as well. So, I wonder how they are treated in their society if they happen live there.
The reactions of the warriors reminded me a lot of how almost everyone reacted during Trost - most of them only knew how horrific it was, they'd never seen it. And it was HEARTBREAKING FOR EVERYONE. (But while Gaillard is agile, Ymir's titan didn't have the special jaw design, which would be weird AF if she really was the "Jaw Titan." So I'm pretty sure she's still safe).
I miss Erwin & Bert so much
Pieck's metal armour was rad
WHERE ARE MY LITTLE CHILDREN??
It hit me like a double-decker.
It was gucci
That chapter was well-done action-wise. It was cool to see the warriors of Marley in action. I'm still sad about Reiner's potential fate but I have to get prepared for him to die next chapter or in the chapter after. Poor boy only dedicated his life to an imposed duty since childhood without a break, on top of losing everybody he loved. If he dies I still have Zeke, but Reiner was my favorite warrior alongside Bert. Gabi and Falco warmed on me but not enough. I still want to spend the whole volume on Marley before moving on. no time-skips surprised me...
Zeke doesn't look he's aged a day. It was nice to see him again.
The only wow element for me was older Reiner. That's it.
I'm afraid Isayama will return to the main cast for the rest of the volume. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Reiner and Zeke, plus now we have Falco and Gabi characters (and Pieck and Galliard on top of that). I feel there should be better a introduction for the new cast, and at least some update about Reiner\Zeke ( their worldview, their rediness to pass on their titans, their opinion on the candidats, at least some interactions with them). Also, I yet so see Mare's side of the conflict, and not oppreses Mare's Eldians, but actual Mare's people (military and civilians alike). So far we've met only two officers and they were jerks. Mare's still painted pretty black, I would like to see some gray areas as well.
Better than the last two
Where the fuck is Ymir!?
I'm getting a little tired of all these new characters, and while seeing Reiner again was quite nostalgic, I really wish Isayama would bring the story back to the original characters soon.
I think Reiner's not out for the count yet, but here's something I can totally see happening: we switch back to the Paradis people and the Marleyans attack them. Everyone thinks the Armored Titan is Reiner and they try talking to him only to discover it's one of the new people. OR, for some extra tragedy, they kill/capture the titan and THEN realize it isn't even Reiner. Bonus bonus tragedy if Connie finally gets his revenge and it's not even Reiner. :( Can totally see Isayama doing that.
It was really disturbing to realize that Annie, Bertolt, Reiner, and Marcel were once probably just like Gabi, Falco, Udo, etc. They might have been idealistic, prone to kindness even to their enemies (like Falco)... or not (since it's impossible to say for sure!) But seeing what actually fighting within the walls has done to Reiner--his trauma, etc. was an excellent contrast to the relative innocence the new cast gives off, and it's heartbreaking to consider that the Warriors we know may have once been the same way. Eren & co. please arrive promptly and save them.
It was boring.
I wish they would show why zeke was the holder of the key to the whole story.
Very intense chapter with stunning art.
Everything went south, but it's good to finally have some knowledge about what's going on outside.
Mule titan is the new best titan
I am sad that "Hot Dayum Daddy-o" Is not an acceptable answer for Reiner's hotness raiting. I also better see a warrior backstory before Isayama ties the noose for good on Reiner if he indeed decides to kill him off.
i have been giving this particular chapter a LOT of thought, and after looking back to ch. 51 of the manga, particularly at the picture of connie's mother in comparison to the drooling woman towards the front of page 2, i'm pretty convinced that the elodians were the people from ragako. that being said, i'm a slight bit skeptical that they were drugged and instead am starting to believe an older theory that just as zeke can turn people into mindless titans, he can turn them back into mindless humans.
Where's Annie
SCs better ally with the Mid-East Union or Eldians will be doomed by Marley faster.
Was surprised by how much I loved this chapter, after I so hated the last one. Oh, how far we've come since the early days of the story. I can't even imagine this in an animated form. It's too many years away.
i hope reiner will not gonna die because of gabi , if isayama want to kill him no matter what i want him to die like a hero
Something that stuck out to me was Gabi's concern for Reiner, "Reiner... be careful." It's a bit odd, she wants his power (aka eat him) but is concerned for him? Is it because of his power? Or does she know and legit care for him, but she (and the other cadets) haven't been told that eating them (the titan shifters) is a necessity to gain the power? Wouldn't that be traumatizing to figure out... I'm also curious about whether or not the warriors backstories are going to be told. Since Reiner's been knocked out (again XD) it could be a good time for the next chapter to open up with a flashback and end with him waking up? He's been kept alive for a while, and there's obviously a reason for it. I also want to know more about the other little warriors, they seem neat :)
Maybe im in denial but Reiner cant die yet, hes the warrior that knows the enemy best and needs to teach someone to use the 3dmg (If he hasnt already in these 4 years)

I wanna see my children they must be so grown up, im gonna cry
fans are making too much drama for the recent lack of the main trio and the 104th squad. I'm more happy to learn about new characters outside the island and see differents points of view about the world, it gives you a global vision. Also I wish we could learn more about Marley people not for the point of view of Eldians but for themselfs or I don't know maybe from other countries? for now they are bad bad very evil duh, but I don't think in a story that constantly makes us reflect on what its good and evil the idea of Marley as the supreme ultra evil enemies is just to simple ... and lazy.
I fell 50/50 about the probabilities of Galliard eating Ymir, but the agility he has is not a proof, i don't believe the "every titan has a unique ability" thing.
Really wondering whether or not reiner may survive this since he is close to running out of time like zeke
Mule Titan is best girl
I want answers, Isayama
92 was unique, i loved it! Seeing what's happening in the other side of the ocean.
I can't wait to see more of Gabi. Gabi is best girl.
I absolutely loved this chapter. It was action packed & the ending got me so fucking hyped for next months chapter. We also got some development on the new Warriors which was really interesting. I hope they will play an important role in this arc. I'm so fucking hyped to see what the SC have been up to for the past 4 years. They probably established a base on the coast or something. btw DID I MENTION IM FUCKING HYPED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!?
i will cry in ymir is dead
It was so short it felt like "heey you guys now you have anime so manga can be less interesting". This chapter was so unnecessary IMO
#FREEANNIE2K17 better happen soon
All in all, this chapter was way more in-depth than the last one and I liked how the warrior kids all got a bit of a personal touch to them. Reiners flashback scene was the most impactful moment in my opinion. It was so heartbreaking. Also, this chapter had a proper conclusion, so I hope we're getting the main cast again next chapter.
Zophia needs more panel time.
This was a cool chapter because of the action. I am not fan of the forced bullshit Isayama has been introducing recently like the convenient amnesia in the last chapter. Make the narrative more fluid!
I thought poop machine was bad, titan carpet bombing is even more wtf
GIVE ME ARMIN'S TITAN FORM GODDAMIT
Devastating. To see the Eldians being used as mindless weapons was severely disturbing. And Zeke finally realising that War is indeed a terrible thing. These chapters are hella intense and enlightening about the world outside. It's still really sick though. Totally sick I can't even. But the thing that really excites AND frightens me the most now is WHAT HAPPENED IN WALLED WORLD WITHIN THE 4 YEARS OF TIME SKIP. Now that we've seen what the Marleyans can and intend to do, I'm feeling really anxious about the 'final' battle between the Eldians and Marleyans. With our precious badass scientist Hange and badass fighter Levi and basically the entire badass scouts, I don't think the people in the walled world, particularly the SC just sat around and did nothing. I don't need a full flashback of their 4 years (though that would be nice as well), but I do want to see how they progressed and improved during those years. I'm imagining it in my head already: the ultimate war. And then we see all the upgrades that the SC did as well, and how Eren and Armin have mastered their titans. I'm even hoping to finally see Annie again, as a villain or whatever, as long as she's put back into the story. I'm expecting a huge twist, but please not something too nasty like Eren being dead already or something. Also, I've never really warmed up to the Marleyans, and after these past chapters, I don't think I ever will. I don't think Zeke is going to get eaten, not soon, at least. He's got so many plot points that require him (Eren, Levi wanting to kill him...), but I do think it's time for Reiner to go, since he survived three extreme situations. By the way, from Marley's perspective, giving Zeke's power to a new recruit seems like a terrible idea: if they are planning to get the Coordinate, they need an experienced war chief to start immediately. It's enough that one of their five titans will need a new recruit after Reiner's demise (if it's true he is going to die, of course, I could be wrong).
It was a good chapter, but i still have no clue about the direction Yams wants to give the story. I feel like he's going too far from what SnK has Always been. I am not happy to meet the main cast, the time skip looked like a stupid way to solve all the stuff he made and we was about to male, like ema's part. In 4 years they argued and maybe thery already fixed. Sooo stupid.
Let's go back to our main cast, please.
At this point many of us think it's unlikely the warrior cadets will inherit BT or AT...but what if, in some type of critical situation, jaws or cartman are injured or whatever, and the only way to preserve the powers is by eating them in a hurry? This way, we'd keep plot relevant Reiner and Zeke, and at least some of the more important new kids (i.e. Faloc/Gabi/Colt) could stick theoretically stick around too (by eaten the aforementioned plot irrelevant shifters)? idk just a thought
It's all well and good to introduce new characters but this late in the story, after all these very dramatic plot/character changes and massive mystery revelations it's a bit... abrupt, to suddenly be with all these new people. I feel like it's a different series and no one told me about it.
I could be interesting if we saw the Marley politicians, or how do they choose the new shifters. But seeing again the Survey Corps could be great as well. Oh, and I was surprised that Reiner was still alive after their lose of multiple shifters titans. And I hope Ymir isn't dead not just bc she's my bae, but bc, contrary to Reiner to who I don't see relevant to the story anymore, so, Ymir is still I think useful too the story. She is still very mysterious and it would not be logical for the Marley government to make her eat and not Reiner and Zeke ? Or maybe it is in fact bc she could refuse to work for them ? I dunno. Still hope she's alive. Btw, is Historia going to be married in the next chapters (for political reasons...)
Why would they make Galliard eat Ymir when they could make a recruit eat her. Giving two titan powers to one titan doesn't make sense strategically speaking. And that's if she is on the Marley side which we don't know for sure.
I may have misinterpreted the chapter due to wonky translations, but I was hoping those opposing the Marleyans would have held out more. I thought the secondary conflict was leading to something the Eldians could use when they needed to confront Marley (not a direct alliance, if literally everyone outside the walls hates Eldians, but something *waves hands*). Otherwise... the Titan drop method is awful and I know Isayama doesn't like to hold back on the atrocities, but I'll admit it did mess me up a little after reading.
I'm really hoping to see Galliard and Pieck's human forms soon. Since there were many parallels between RBA and EMA and Zeke is said to be like a warrior Levi, I'm hoping for Galliard and Pieck to be like some warrior versions of Erwin and Hange.
I want to see more backstories; Zeke, Ymir Fritz, The First King. I can't wait until Eren re-unites with Zeke.
Well, Zeke saying "war ia a bad thing" after enjoying so much killing the Scouts was quite...incoherent? Wtf lord of the ponies?
I'm completely lost as to what the story currently is
I do want to see Galliard and Pieck's human forms but not if it means we get another Marley chapter. It's time to go back to the real protagonists.
This plot twist is weird and has yet to sell me in the new direction it's taking
Locate my position and land on me Daddy
I hope the story of new warriors won't turn into another Grisha files.
I hope Paradis invasion will be told from the Warriors perspective. We already know how underprepared and unexpected Paradis is so it'd be fresh to see the story unfold from the other side. This will also give more time to develop those fresh recruits' characters? Most of them still feel like folders to me and we weren't given enough time to form emotional attachment with them yet.
I miss my Vets...
I'm terrified there may be another timeskip before we get back to the main cast i'll fuck up isayama and his editor for giving me this timeskip-phobia Having BRYH as your favorite characters really fucking sucks.
back to eren, please
All I hoped for was to at least see Reiner and Zeke again. But I'm ready to see my children again next month. :')
Im so nervous
I preferred this chapter over 91 because we got to see familiar characters. I am surprised at how quick this war ended for the viewers and hope we get to see the fallout from Marley's perspective. Maybe the changing of titans if that is going to happen before we switch back to the main cast.
4/10 There was no Grisha in this chapter, but it brought back my intense sadness for Reiner
What kind of brainwashing techniques the Marley used on the Eldian
What happened to this manga!?!
I know the new characters are all going to die so I just want to see how this story ends already.
I really don't want Reiner and Zeke to be replaced, as I don't see how that would add anything to the story and many conflicts would never be resolved. Also I loved the scene with the drugged eldians turned into titans. Very poignant. I love how the situation is cruel and inhumane yet really really believable
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This chapter has a lot of really good emotional moments (Falco saving the Middle East Union man was a personal favorite). The way the Eldians are treated was genuinely horrific. Isayama is doing well building up the tension and the threat level in his manga. But, he's also now, thankfully, investing time into the emotional gravity of this situation and this new world. This chapter was much better at establishing what this side of the wall is all about than the previous chapter. But, the main characters need to come back because I doubt most of us will ever care about the new characters nearly as much as we do the old ones. Also, Reiner is back!!! And he's so hot but everything is so sad! Seeing Reiner again is like trying to eat ice cream while you're sobbing your heart out. And honestly, if Reiner is supposed to be "dead"... all I can say is that it would be pretty lame.
The story has become way more interesting that I initially thought. I really love the new perspective shown of the tragic young warriors. The hopelessness of the Pradise situation now that we saw Marly's power. I'm scared to think of how more complicated it will be. Love how isayama is never scared to leave the main cast behind whenever he wanted to express more thoughts or story. good job.
The chapter was great. We finally have an idea of what the military prowess of Marley as well as the rest of the world is like. We know how Eldians are treated by Marley and viewed by other nations and honestly the situation is grim for Paradis. I truly hope they achieved massive strides in weapon and warfare or found an ally of sorts otherwise they are completely at the mercy of the coordinate.
god this is going so fast to somewhere i never thought this would go and idt i like that very much
I've waited so long to get the Warrior perspective on things, these chapters are a delight (while also being horrifying). Seeing how idealistic these kids are, oblivious to the reality of their monstrous nation, breaks my heart.
I have no idea what's going on anymore.
all these new characters confuses me and i think its messy that we are presented to so many new people when the manga is almost done. also a fucking four year time jump??? i just dont feel like this is snk anymore all these new characters confuses me and i think its messy that we are presented to so many new people when the manga is almost done. also a fucking four year time jump??? i just dont feel like this is snk anymore
I can't wait to see Eren & Co! \>o
I think it was kinda satisfying to see Gabi's view on the world change since she seemed so cocky before hand.
I just want to see the main cast again.
Interesting to see all the technologies/evolution the middle-east clan: they can destroy Reiner's armor !
I hate 2 last chapters
Tbh i dont mind if they do a couple more chapters from marleys pov but at the same time i want then to go back to our mian cast just to see how after the horror shitshow of 92 ; how paradis is preparing for attack
YAMS my man dude bro I wanna know the dealy-o with Ymir ASAP thx
It confused the heck out of me but I got by

My Favorite Books That I Read in 2018
Books! Why would you bother living without them? Even slowed down by life and depression, this turned into one of my favorite reading years thanks to some stunning debuts and absolute gems in my backlog. In the post-Christmas haze I've gathered up some scary stories, a Pulitzer winner, a New York Times favorite, and novellas and a lovable killing machine for you. Let's read.
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
This is an Epic Fantasy about the real world destroying your adolescent notions of what matters. For the first chunk of the book, Rin throws herself into life at a military academy, exploring connections between drugs and the gods. The worst things in her world are an unfair teacher and her equivalent of a Draco Malfoy bully. But then she graduates and has to serve alongside her classmates in a brutal war with civilian death tolls and a nightmarish parallel to the Nanjing Massacre. The book lets us take Wizarding School tropes for granted and then rips them in half with reality. Hopefully one one reading this ever has to deal with the horrors of war, but Rin's revelation is an extreme version of the experience of so many people who hide from reality inside education systems and then have to confront the world. From this conceit, Kuang creates one of Fantasy’s greatest origin stories, showing us how Rin grows from desperate, to ambitious, to vengeful, to ruthless. We see all of the social pressures and life events that forge her into one of her world's great villains.
Witchmark by C.L. Polk
I meant to read part of Witchmark on my flight, but the book was too good, and so I finished it before we landed. Miles Singer is a healer in a Fantasy world in the shadow of a war akin to World War I, using his talents to help traumatized veterans when they come home. Something is causing his patients to become dangerously violent, possibly using their PTSD to turn them into weapons, and Miles has to solve the mystery to save them. It’s a deeply compassionate novel about trying to help those harmed by war, bolstered by a supportive romance between Miles and Tristan, another man ensnared into the plot. At one point Miles is exhausted and unkempt, and Tristan gives him a shave. Apparently allosexual read this as ridiculously hot. My ace ass read this as soothing, because the trust between them is so clear. It made me relax on a plane where I had no elbow room. Witchmark is thoroughly charming.
The Outsider by Stephen King
This might be my favorite book into King’s new Bill Hodges Universe, and makes the explicit turn to opening the supernatural there. Without spoiling, it elevates some characters into protagonist roles that will make any sleuthing against monsters way more interesting, while paying homage to the restless retiree who started it all. Here we have an identity mystery: a pillar of the community is witnessed having committed an absurdly grisly crime and have to figure out how it’s possible that evidence puts him in two places at once. We know something supernatural touches this crime, but can’t be sure what since the Hodges Universe began without any of the supernatural. King has created a great uncertainty over how much human behavior explains things, as opposed to Castle Rock where there the shadows always had thoughts. This is covered in one of King’s richest webs of characters, every point of view connecting powerfully to another, until we have a robust appreciation of how feverishly the community reacts to the news. I didn’t think there needed to be a fourth book in this series. Now I’m quite excited for a fifth.
Impostor Syndrome by Mishell Baker
If you haven't read the series so far, just go get Borderline. It's amazing.
If this is the end of the Arcadia Project series, then it's a poignant send-off and also the most fun the characters have been. Most of your favorites from the first two books band together with Millie for something that's half heroic adventure, and half psychedelic heist. My favorite part was seeing Millie's team come together as so supportive and aware of where intervention might be important for helping neurodivergent characters. Respecting the agency of our friends is hard in real life when we know they're at risk, and it's refreshing to see that reflected in something better than the duality of "hands off" or "you have no choice." The scene where Millie might be concussed and not taking her own health seriously is where we start to appreciate how far the characters have come. There are explosive events, but more important are the conversations and developments between people who didn't trust each other a few books ago.
All Systems Red & Artificial Condition by Martha Wells
I haven't read Books 3 and 4 in the Murderbot Diaries series because I'm saving them for bad days. SF&F publishing doesn't give me books like these very often and I need to ration the good vibes. The Murderbot Diaries are warm-hearted and revolve around the emotional growth of a killing machine who just wants to watch TV and be left alone. He's not a slacker hitman; he's rental equipment who longs to understand others and be emancipated. These books have some adventure and risk, but their heart is in weird bonding sequences watching soap operas with a ship's navigation computer. They are warm without avoiding heavy material, and without settling for arcs that ending in gritty choices. The heaviness is in who we want to be. This series is a modern treasure.
Space Unicorn Blues by T.J. Berry
Now this is my kind of worldbuilding. Space Opera where it turns out planets are populated by unicorns, dragons, and faeries? And they need space ships to try to outrun human colonizers? Heck yes. We’re talking about a great found family of disabled people, and queer people, and magical beings, and humans who know they’ve messed up, going on perilous adventures to create a better life for themselves. My favorite trick Berry plays is shuffling the characters, plot, and worldbuilding. Our half-unicorn hero may get stuck in a miserable spot thanks to the plot, but Berry keeps the tone light by explaining that spot through hilarious worldbuilding like the brand of pie that has a density dangerously close to black holes. When the plot gets more dangerous, the characters banter it out. One element is always allowed to be grave, and is lightened by another, turning the novel into something consistently inventive and fun.
The Power by Naomi Alderman
Not a lot of Dystopia novels let you see the Dystopia form. The Power puts its Dystopia into motion, from the start of women developing skeins and gaining the ability to instantly electrocute anyone they like, to boys being segregated from them in schools, all the way to upheavals in culture and political systems. It’s a world where women suddenly have superior capacity for violence than men. This way it easily could have languished as a 1984-like about a downtrodden man chaffing under a system of oppression, but Alderman puts her world into motion. We see the changes and new orders from the perspectives of male journalists, poor women, and aspiring politicians, each of whom give us different angles of satire and angles on the world. I’d love an anthology of short stories covering more parts of this world, and almost wrote one about what would change in disability communities.
The Red Tree by Caitlin R. Kiernan
A Cosmic Horror novel about a very bad tree. Sarah Crowe has wicked writer’s block, and fears that this time she won’t resurface and will lose her contract and career. The novel has Kiernan’s hallmark ability to get deep inside a messy character’s head as their mental health and personal life unravels. But there is a peculiar tree in the woods behind Crowe’s rented house, visible from her upper bedroom window - and that no matter how long she walks, she cannot reach. The pursuit of the tree is both a metaphor for her writer’s block, and intrinsically related, since the fascination leads her to research seemingly similar trees related to horrors that have happened throughout the region. Could they all be the same tree? Has she been attracted to it because she has similar flaws as previous people caught in its web? I bothered so many friends with my theories for weeks after finishing it. The book is a few years old, but certainly one of my favorite Horror things of the year.
Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II by Douglas A. Blackmon
Douglas Blackmon went from county to county across the southern U.S., reading court records from almost a century ago to prove how emancipated slaves were treated. What he found was a long trail of people charged for petty crimes or held without an explicit charge, often with no evidence or even oral arguments in court, and sentenced to manual labor that was contracted out to friends of the court. This way saw thousands upon thousands of people trapped in a new slavery that could be extended at the whim of their “employer,” who could charge as much as they wanted for room and board that the convicted people couldn’t refuse. They were sent into the deepest mines and most rundown mills, and when many of them died from conditions or unsafe labor, they were made to disappear. It’s a bitter book, rife with cruelty that more than one president willfully ignored. These parts of our history are ignored at our peril, and the peril of the most vulnerable going forward.

Sense8 1x10
OVERALL this was an amazing episode! Lots and Lots and LOTS of cool stuff has happened and I’m loving all of it. For those who had their storylines mainly featured, there was a lot of good progression on that part. Along with great addition to the mythos of the show with the Jonas/Will scene which by the way I still fucking hate how much Will and Riley get to be involved with the over-arching narrative yet fucking Lito just had his first fucking sharing scene of the whole goddamn season UGH!!! I mean yet again I need to give an expectation cause yes, Kala hasn’t had a sharing scene yet, but she fucking has a romantic subplot with someone in her damn cluster. MAKE LITO RELEVANT!
Speaking of my favorite character, I loved everything that happened with Lito’s storyline. I.... I just wish we got here differently. I’ve been thinking cause I truly feel the ONLY reason why Dani is heavily involved with his storyline is because they felt it would just be too gay without a woman around for the straight people watching. I mean, like, right when Hernando takes Lito back, Dani is still being dumb as fuck and taking fucking pictures of them! And her defense “he just said it was okay” LIKE OH MY GOD DID YOU NOT LEARN ANYTHING???? THIS GAY ASS NIGGA JUST GOT HIS ASS BEAT TO FUCKING SAVED YOUR ASS FOR YOUR DUMB ASS MISTAKES goddamnit I hate her character so much like I hate the writers for continually shitting all over Lito’s storyline. They give him the best scenes but the worst plot. Like OMG imagine if Lito had to had this epic fighting scene with Joaquin because he has to save Hernando from the clutches of evil with the help of Wolfgang! As in the damsel-in-distress be Hernando and not someone who fucking ruined his life. AND when Lito says “let’s go home” fucking Dani goes with them again like BITCH DON’T YOU PAY RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE??? WERE YOU JUST HOMELESS BEFORE LITO STARTED TAKING TO FUCKING MOVIE PREMIERES AS HIS BEARD???? Where did she even com from??? Honestly I’m just getting so annoyed because they don’t have this unnecessary third wheel in Nomi’s stroyline.
Honestly the queer storylines on this show are so.... not good. Like UGH both queer storylines started out with characters in committed long term relationships and like (please remember I’ve never actually been in a relationship before) but like they are always talking about how madly in love they are with each other and how they will go to the ends of the world for one another. Which like, I enjoy the show showing that passion between two people of the same gender. But it also feels fucking unrealistic. I honestly would hate if my boyfriend was talking about how much in love he was with me like nigga talk about your taxes or french fries or something I’m not that special, goddamn.  But then the queer storylines bug me because most queer narratives tend to either be about coming out or a character is already in a fully committed relationship. They don’t show someone already out and just like single. Show a queer person wanting to find a mate and the struggles that come with it compared to straight people. Like what if one of the other male characters were secretly gay and Lito had to help him come to terms with his sexuality. (Or like shit why couldn’t they have Nomi help Lito more about being open and out with their queerness and yes they had a moment where she did that BUT IT WAS ONLY FUCKING ONE SCENE all the other characters got to help one another but Lito had to go about his whole storyline by himself till Wolfgang helped him in the fucking fight lakjdf adslkjfhasdkj). Like why can’t two girls or two guys fall in love with each other instead of TWO YES TWO HETEROSEXUAL ROMANCES FORMING WITHIN ONE CLUSTER FUCKING GODDAMNIT I HATE STRAIGHT PEOPLE! AND AND
AND A
AND AND
FUCKIGN WILL AND RILEY GET TO HAVE A ROMANTIC SUBPLOT ALONG WITH GETTING MOST OF THE VISIITING/SHARING SCENES AND LEARNIGN ABOUT THE MYTHOS OF THE PREMISE AND LEARN ABOUT THE ANTAGONISTS LIKE OH MY GOD I HATE THEM BOTH
Will is a cop and white and a straight man so obviously I don’t like him but with Riley.... her storyline is so uninteresting because her story is one of PTSD. So all of her scenes are just of her traumatize and thinking about how traumatized she is. But.... that’s not fun for an audience to watch. i’m not having fun watching Riley stare off into the distance IN EVERY FUCKING SCENE SHE IS IN Like girl Do something. Something. Something. Fucking Riley do something. SOMEThING. What can she provide to the cluster anyways besides initiating a cluster sharing scene where everyone imagines there first birth. SPEAKING OF THE LAST SCENE
I both really loved it and fucking hated it. I loved it cause we saw all the characters and they all where having a shared experience and it also related to expanding and extending the mythos. Since they are these psychic “not so” human beings, they can see shit like... being born! Which like yeah! Weird as all hell but that’s there connection. August 8th they all came to be from there first birth. And then they had their second birth when Angelica awakened them to their latent psychic abilities. It works with what the show is about. What I hated is that besides the first and last scene of this episode along with the first scene of this episode (them in the holocaust memorial in Berlin) The only time they had a scene where it showed their connection between all 8 (that stupid fucking orgy scene only had 4 of them *eye roll*) was in the first episode in the first 5 minutes!!! That’s not okay. They should have been having cool little, “oh shit I just gained 7 new best friends”, scenes way early on in the season unlike the HOURS UPON HOURS of exposition and backstory to these characters. omg I feel like I know every single one of these characters more than myself YET we still only just recently learned about the actual antagonist of the show. WHICH ONLY 3 OF THE 8 ARE AWARE OF SAID THREAT!!! OMG another reason why I hate Will and Riley
They BOTH have known about the goddamn cluster for a bunch of episodes now yet neither of them have every tried... Idunoo. Actually trying to bring the cluster together. Not at any point, after learning about the Whispers, did they think “maybe I should get my homies together and warn them that people are trying to hunt theb cause apparently I have 7 other people who can feel everything I can feel” Especially after that old ass lady tells Riley how much it hurt her when one of her cluster died. Honestly, WIll and Riley want everyone else in their cluster to get murdered so they can fuck ugh I hate these white people so much >.>
.... okay this review is like way too long. I’m just so annoyed by so many things. Yet, don’t get me wrong I STILL VERY MUCH ENJOY THE SHOW It’s just... the show can be better if they stopped focusing on the white people so much and made the queer people actual real people. Anyways, I’m wondering where Wolfgang got that rocket launcher from like white boi is so extra but ehhh they hurt his brother so he was not taking any prisoners. Also Joaquin was absolutely DELICIOS with his shrit off!!! Yummy yummy! I did not expect for that actor to have a boyd like that but with all that muscle and tattoos OH OH OH! So sexy so yummy. Too bad he is a gross human being who beats his girlfriend :/ But my future husband (with Wolfgang’s help) beat his ass so we all kosher at the end of the day
Tumblr media
Also I would like to add I plan on doing a review of season 1 as a whole along with a review of each of the 8 main character’s storyline cause I hardly mentioned the straight characters unless they do something truly interesting or they do something stupid and I have to call them out about it. Like trust me, I know I talk a lot about Lito’s storyline from episode to episode but I actually hold back a lot more opinions than I share. So yeah, I plan on being super thorough on all elements of the show, in case you were wondering why these episode reviews don’t talk about every little thing that happened. I try to focus on major plot points and queer characters in these episode reviews.
