Probably my most unpopular Alfred headcanon is that he didn't participate in the roaring 20's at all because he was busy being a farmer in Oklahoma that decade
#hws america#aph america#Hetalia#it serves narrative purpose in my mind#I headcanon that from about 1835 to 1930 actually wasn't getting paid by the U.S government#and was bouncing from state to state taking human jobs to make ends meet#in the 1910's he was working in the meat packing industry in Chicago#but when he got involved with union organizing for that industry he ended up having to skip town to avoid an FBI raid#flees to Rural Oklahoma and changes his name from Alphonsus Kirkland to Alfred Jones#and this sets him up to be in the middle if the dust bowl in the 30's (a historical period I find much more interesting than the 20's)#the dust bowl causes him to move out to California where he works as a seasonal farm laborer for a while#and then when FDR becomes president putting Alfred back on payroll gets lumped into his social welfare reform#and Alfred finally gets a hand in his own government again#and yeah I know no one else in the fandom agrees with this#but you know#my blorbo and my blog so I'll say what I want

having self inserts that are minors is so fuckin weird bc for multiple dynamics I'm just like... if they were an adult then these guys would fuck. but I'm not doing that bc they are a CHILD and I just don't want to explore that particular flavor of terrible with my blorbos it's just like T-T why does my brain keep wanting to make any of this shit romantic/sexual in any way I fucking hate you brain.
#and for anyone who might say 'you can just make adult self inserts if you want to do self-shipping. even if you're not that age irl'#I know I could. But idk. I want teen self inserts. that is what I connect to way more. And it's just more of a 'brain shut the fuck up#this is not supposed to bring out the shipping eyebrows' thing anyway#and less of a 'well damn I want to ship these guys but [literally illegal age gap]'#so uhhh I just need my brain to shut up and stop thinking fictional men 10 years my senior are attractive for like five seconds while I#think about my blorbos#sorry to ramble about this on here but also it's my blog and I'll do what I want :)#self insert#I am going to tag this#selfshipping#for the people who might have that filtered out#negative#idk if it's really negative but ehhhh not taking any chances#cryptid.thoughts

Short Break and To Dos!
Hello all! 🍄🍄👻 I'm glad to see people enjoying Day 3 so far! I was so nervous about showing another side to Mychael in the update I thought people wouldn't like him as much but plenty have reacted positively! ❤️
I'll add a TLDR; above the read more, but if you don't mind my ramblings and want more details about everything, I'll write everything below! Light spoilers ahead!
I'll be taking a short break from MO development until 28th October to work on a short VN for the Monstrous Desires jam!
Most probably missed it, but there's a tiny small patch to Day 3 explained here.
Queue will return soon! I just gotta handle some housekeeping first with my Patreon.
Regarding the feedback on Day 3, I'm glad people aren't as averse to the new side of Mychael, in that he isn't always soft and sweet. I want people to fall in love with a person after all, not a yandere caricature, and that means that person can get upset, angry and sometimes irrational when we don't know what's going on in their head even towards the subject of their affections. While some (understandably!) were shocked about his reaction to the mushrooms, it'll be clear as to why (hopefully!)
Some of you have given incredibly accurate theories, and I'll take that as something I've done well in building up the mystery!!! I'm excited to share more in the next update, but for now!
1. I'll be taking a short break from MO development to work on a short VN for the Monstrous Desires jam!
What I have planned for Day 4 of MO might be the biggest update so far, since one route will lead to a few official BAD ENDINGS as opposed to 'dead ends' like the current demo has. To those who really want to, you finally get to see Mychael at his worst. As usual, writing the script takes a few months with plenty of changes in between, and I don't wanna bulldoze ahead and rush the story when it's getting to the climax!
But before I jump into all of that I just wanna give myself a creative exercise and try exploring a different theme, style and setting with a fresh new character for the jam! Since I'm a sucker for the trope... yes, the new blorbo will also be a yandere, sorry, I'm predictable.💔 The jam ends on October 28th so development on MO will continue then!
The last time I wrote something remotely sci-fi was in high school, so this will be fun to try!
2. Most probably missed it, but there's a tiny small patch to Day 3 explained here.
What it says on the tin! If you've already played Day 3, rest assured there's no significant story changes. Just an updated credits list, three extra sprites for one route and a small fix in the code.
3. Queue will return soon! I just gotta handle some housekeeping first with my Patreon.
Plenty of people have sent such sweet and encouraging messages to my inbox on what they thought of the update and I cannot thank all of you enough for the support!! I can't wait to post them out to archive them on the blog and answer all your interesting theories and queries in my queue!
But for now I'm due for a short break from my socials and to catch up on my Patreon sketch requests haha. I also plan to release cut content from Day 3 for my Yearling and Deer patrons. Plus, I'll be working on some written prompts for extra lore so that's something to look forward to!
I'll be back soon! Take care, fireflies!! ❤️

Is there a specific scientific term for what I'll call "harm construction", meaning "thinking of ways that something harms someone in order to condemn it"? There must be, right? I see it all the time and it's not new. Let me give some examples in random order.
One of the first cases where I really remember it was at least a decade ago, an online article by a British newspaper, about how an online store had put a pole dancing pole in their toys section. A bit of an embarrassing mistake but nothing more.
However, that article provided several quotes from a British couple who said they were very worried, because their kid could have seen that. It seems pretty clear that their kid did not, in fact, actually see it, but the newspaper treated their concern as if it was a genuine thing to worry about. It was utterly ridiculous.
A more recent example is a call-out ask I received a few months ago and, of course, immediately deleted, but it's still been living rent-free in my head since then, because it was so horribly bad. I'll not repeat the exact wording, but they were annoyed that their victim blog (which I don't follow and haven't for years, if ever, and they don't follow me) was annoying and sometimes said mean things. They very ineptly tried to explain that this might have been part of the reasons why someone else, completely unrelated, sent out hate messages to yet another person. That was the harm that was so big that it supposedly justified a targeted harassment campaign. (If you're the person who wrote that call-out ask, please rethink your life. You were only increasing the hate in the world, not making anything better. I suspect the sender wasn't anyone who actually follows me, but just in case).
The biggest and most prominent example of harm construction right now is of course all about trans people, bathrooms and school sports. Conservatives and TERFs alike need a reason to oppose the existence of trans people beyond "I personally find them weird", because saying that out loud gets them correctly branded as bigots. How do you turn "let's be really mean to a marginalised group" into a progressive cause? By saying that the existence of this group causes harm. The problem with that is that trans people existing does not actually cause any harm, it's literally fine.
So in an effort to construct harm after all, they have searched far and wide for something that trans people could even theoretically damage, and the only things they managed to come up with are "there might be someone with unexpected genitals behind that bathroom stall door" and "the sanctity of gender-segregated sports". If it weren't for their cultural and political power then it would almost be funny how little potential harm they managed to find and how much they have to amplify it. They're just another couple in the newspaper worried that their kid might potentially see a website.
If you look for it, harm construction is everywhere, because we all sort of agree on a surface level that dividing people into "normal, acceptable" and "weird, must be punished" isn't nice, but the instinct to punish people for being "weird" is still alive and well and many people refuse to question it.
At a completely different end, anytime someone uses the word "normalisation" about a fanfic on Ao3, that's another example. We all know making blorbos do weird things doesn't actually hurt anybody (assuming proper tagging and so on), but we still want to punish people who do it wrong. So we construct harm, by arguing that seeing something on Ao3 might "normalise" the thing and make it more likely that someone will do it in real life.
These examples are very different, at very different ends of almost all scales of power and cultural influence and meaning, but the core idea is always the same. So, yeah. There must be a better term for this.

Interactions
My DMs are always open to people who wanna talk, but I WILL ignore scams or bots.
If you wanna be my friend or wanna talk to me please just DM me, I love making friends :]
If you follow me and you're a fan of my special interest(s) who posts/reblogs cool stuff I'll probably follow you back/moot you!
I also love seeing your comments/detailed reblogs (eg. Tags or additions) it gets me kicking my feet and giggling,,
DNIs and Intolerated Behaviour
Basic DNI stuff (Because it's wrong)-
Sexism, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or any sort of bigotry or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated here.
Personal DNI stuff (Things I don't want to see from accounts in my notes or on my dash):
-Accounts that post harmful stereotypes and prejudice, of any kind. This definitely includes radfems, terfs, trans androphobia/misogyny, and misgendering feminine men (promoting toxic masculinity)
-Niragi glazers. This does NOT include people who like the actor, Dori, or people who like Niragi's addition to the story/the way his character is written. But saying Niragi is hot? Excusing his actions? Nuh uh please no.
-Proshippers (This can include non-human x human). Some Yokai Watch examples I can think of are Katie x Kyubi, Nate x Blizarria/Damona, Komasan x Komajiro, etc.. Just an ick.
-People who post art of/headcanon the Yokai Watch trans mtf Nate Adams headcanon. It makes me uncomfortable and I don't want it being forced on me anymore, if you like it then fair enough but if you draw it or actively talk about it then DNI.
-People who post, draw, or write NSFW content, this includes hardcore gore or sexual themes, I feel uncomfortable seeing that (especially Yokai Watch NSFW, it's a kids show).
What I post...
I have a really messy post schedule, it's never linear or straightforward, I just post when I feel like it or when I get an idea.
My most posted stuff includes memes, art, and general sillyposting. I don't reblog stuff that often, but when I see cool art or a post I really like/agree with I will definitely reblog it, especially if it's a moot's post :]

I've decided to turn off anons. For most of you I know that's probably not a surprise lol I'm just sick of people coming into my page and insulting me over things I never said or just insulting me period. All I've ever wanted to do is share my thoughts and blorbos on this blog. I never intend to cause ill will to anyone. You can disagree with what I'm saying without throwing insults or calling me things I definitely am not. If you don't like what I have to say, block me. But I do have a right to defend myself especially when the claims against me are false or misinterpreted based on ones own personal projections onto a character.
At least without anons I can immediately block them and it'll discourage most from doing it anyways. So if you do have an ask for me and you don't feel comfortable coming out of anon, I'm sorry. Maybe I'll turn it on again one day.

Nothing annoyed a younger me more than opening ao3 to look up my favourite character only to find so many fics that were so contradictory to how he’d actually act (mostly for the sake of shipping, but the way fandom sometimes treats m/m parings and feels the need to shove them into certain roles and traits is a completely different conversation that I will not be getting into)
I think a lot of this is because of people wanting these characters to fit into tropes and stereotypes that they were never made for, so they end up stripping them of all defining characteristics so they can fit the perfect mould, which is more of a bigger issue with fandom as a whole rather than a couple people mischaracterising my blorbo
But honestly? Good for them, it may be annoying, but they’re doing something creative that makes them happy and there is nothing more beautiful than that
I’m all for people doing whatever they want forever and if that means wildly mischaracterising my favourite guy, then go ahead and have a blast I’m genuinely happy for you, even though I can’t stand it and it makes me die a little on the inside
Something I will never get though is people trying to explain away/ justify/ just comply ignore any bad thing a character they like has done. That’s the best part of them! You’re allowed to like villains, can you really say you love them if you can’t accept them, war crimes and all?
Conclusion: make bad, cringey art. It doesn’t matter if it’s entirely self indulgent you made it for you anyway
(I still voted yes on the pole though, at that point they are just glorified oc’s, but who cares? I don’t have to read those fic’s or interact with those people at all)
on this blog we're big believers of "doing what you want forever"
but to be honest when it comes to mischaracterising i'm probably the worst for it, i'll just pick one character trait and just latch onto it permanently
like i don't even remember anything about sae niijima but whenever i put something in the microwave i still slam the table like YOU REHEATED LASAGNA YOU MUST HAVE HAD THE HELP OF A MICHELIN STAR CHEF

~Let's talk about credit~
(not financial credit trust me you don't want to take financial advice from me lol)
No, today I am inviting y'all to the table to talk about the importance of crediting other creators in fandom!
Because, listen. We don't have a peer-review system. We don't have to submit our stuff to a plagiarism checker or go through stringent editing when shitposting on tumblr; we operate in an honor system of crafting folklore using our favorite blorbos, and that means that inspiration and using the specific words and images from canon creates a grey area on what ought to be credited, and how to do it in a way that creates a solid, strong community.
Here's a little of my philosophy and how I give proper credit where it's due, so I figured I'd share them to hopefully encourage others in making sure no one out there ends up becoming fandom's James Somerton
1. Links are your friends, use them enthusiastically
Drooled over a gifset that made you write a poem? Read a fic that made you pull out your embroidery hoop? Saw some art that made you write a song? Link to the original! Tag the original artist, hyperlink to the giffer, share the fic via the amazing shortcut button on Ao3, it's what those creators deserve! Even if it's a shitpost, that creator is where your idea started, and it's the right thing to do to share directly where your audience can connect with the person who inspired you.
This holds INFINITELY true if you are directly quoting someone. If you've used someone else's words to create your own work, link back to the original. No one wants to be sent a fic or a funny post on tumblr and then feel the sinking pit in their stomach when they realize that post is their own words with someone else's name on them.
2. Ask for permission when you can
Now, the reason I threw the addendum on this with "when you can" is because knowing when to ask for permission is more of an art versus a science. I myself have written more than one fic inspired by art where I didn't reach out to the artist before I shared the fic because I had no contact with them (the joys of me refusing to touch the garbage that is the bird site). BUT this is why point number one is to always link back to the original inspiration, because I believe that should always be the bare minimum.
THAT BEING SAID.
If you have a way of contacting the original fellow fandom person who inspired you? Reach out and ask them if they'd feel comfortable with you creating something! 999 times out of 1000, they're gonna be over the MOON you want to create something inspired by what they made, and they'll be really fucking pleased you reached out to check.
3. Ask yourself: is this a "two cakes" situation or am I putting my name on someone else's cake?
This is another one that can absolutely fall into a bit of a grey area. I have written many a fic that started out with me reading a take or a fic that went in a WILDLY different direction from what I was expecting or wanted, and I went "okay, fuck it. I'll write my own." And that's absolutely been a great motivator for me to start a project!
HOWEVER.
That is me creating a different flavor of cake, putting my own frosting on it, and probably adding something weird like lemon zest and instant coffee for a lemonade cappucino chiffon that shouldn't work (but definitely does, trust me)
If I were to have read a fic or a take and then gone, "Oh, yeah, definintely, here's the same idea but now I've rephrased it juuust a little and now it's under MY username on my blog".... that's slapping a different color of frosting on the same cake and claiming it's mine. If you find yourself doing that, I really invite you to pause and consider why you felt the need to do so instead of sharing the original post.
Like, not to bring Shakespeare into it (they say, poorly concealing their icon), but fandom can be exactly like how Juliet views love. Sharing joy in what others have created absolutely can be as "boundless as the sea [...] the more I give [...], the more I have, for both are infinite". It does not take away from the joy your fellow fandom friends will have in your own original work to share the work of others.
4. Hyping up your inspiration is FUN
Finally, this is more of me going "no really, proper credit isn't going to mean people love YOU less" because I truly believe in the power of how much FUN it really is to give credit where it's due. I was buzzing for WEEKS in anticipation of publishing Objection! and The 'I Duoy' Newlywed Special because the marvelous @jackuntiljune had brainstromed with me on the name for the boat my boys eloped on. And I get so fucking giddy when I see someone comment on those fics about the name of the boat because I get to take a giant breath and go "MY FRIEND JACK CAME UP WITH IT, AREN'T THEY AMAZING?!"
If you practice giving credit where it's due, I promise promise PROMISE it will become a joy. It's FUN getting to bring more people into the sandbox to play, and I know I love it when there's more than one person out there I can yell at (affectionate) when I've been emotionally destroyed (again, affectionate) by a gifset or art or fic <3
Thanks so much for reading this far! I can't wait to keep sharing inspiration with all of you out there

Determinism in TLT
The three people who actively follow my blog will know it, but for the others I'll say it: I don't judge TLT characters personally. (Except if I want to make a point or if I want to provoke a little.) That's not because I think their actions are not bad (they often are). But thing is, I think the characters are hardly made to be judged.
We can, for example, take Ianthe, my blorbo, my wife and my love. It was, all jokes aside, surely a horrible crime to kill her cav. Besides of that, it would maybe really have been better, if she hadn't saved Jod. (I mean, we didn't know it back then, but it seems obvious regarding NtN, even if it's understandable that she doesn't wanted her loved ones to die.) She has a lot of complicated character traits as well.
But if we look at where she is from, it's obvious that she had to be like that to survive. She is manipulative? So is her sister and probably her whole House. She is unnecessary eager to reach her goals (on cost of others)? Surprise, that's what her sister is like and her whole House too!
It's extremly obvious, that all characters are basically caricatures of how their Houses are. Palamedes, the scholar, the Warden... Dulcie, the beauty that blossoms and dies... Oh, even Silas. You would think it was extremly stupid of him to fight Ianthe, but actually, based of all what we know about him, I really think he had no other choice (technically, but not practically) as fighting her for his beliefs. It's so obvious, that even the characters themselves talk about it at a point:

That means: Ianthe is maybe a questionable person, but she wouldn't have been, if she had grown up on the Sixth. Palamedes is a (comperatively) sweet person, but he isn't like that because he naturally is like that, but because he's grown up on the Sixth.
[Let's make a sad little literary class trip:
Palamedes even says himself in TUG, that from (House specific) point of view, Ianthe is not wrong. It's a very interesting moment, because a character of the series admits, that (in TLT) moral is not static, but a question of the point of view. (What's made by the circumstances (in TLT).)

]
And that's what Determinism means. It's the idea, that people don't (only) do things, because of decisions, but because of their circumstances. The idea of Determinism is really important for leftist ideas because it enables ideas like: if you put a bunch of people with no money and boredom in a quarter, crimes will happen. (The idea shifts the attention from decisions to the circumstances.)
Even if the characters of the TLT universe are able to make decisions (maybe), I think it's pretty obvious how much the books are influenced by the idea of Determinism. And therefore, even if some of the characters awake the wish in me to... Oh! What did I want to say? Anyway, I think it's important to regard the context of the characters. It's possible to judge them, but it's also interesting to do it not and look at their reasons. (What doesn't apologize them, but makes them understandable)
This post is involuntary sponsored by this horrorshow interesting post of @swordrogue. I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Please go read it, it's very interesting
#tlt meta#tlt spoilers#palamedes sextus#ianthe tridentarius#harrow nonagesimus#god! I had almost forgotten how interesting TUG is#also it reads almost like a manifest for “recognize the Determinism of that series”#just read it again - half for this post. half because it was fun - and my friendos. I have to go offline for a few days because of Reallife#but I'll become insufferable about it when I come back. believe me

SUBMIT THROUGH THE FORM IN THIS POST, NOT MY ASKBOX, FOR YOUR BLORBO'S SAKE. I WILL LOSE SUBMISSIONS IF THEY AREN'T ALL IN ONE PLACE!
Hi! I've never run a poll blog before, but I like the "do you know this character" type blogs and I searched and didn't find one for ADHD characters so I decided I'd make one!
Submission Guidelines
Both canon and non-canon ADHD characters are allowed, but YOU MUST PROVIDE EVIDENCE FOR NON-CANON ADHD CHARACTERS! I completely understand just looking at a character and going "oh they have the Vibes" but it's not enough to be posted on this blog. Even just "they exhibit a lot of impulsiveness and distractability" is enough for me to go on - just give me SOMETHING to work with. However I reserve the right to not post a character if I don't think the evidence is compelling enough, i.e., if you don't list any traits that are specific to ADHD.
You may not submit real people, only fictional characters. I find it disrespectful and uncomfortable to speculate on the mental health of real people, and will not be posting those for my own comfort, even if those people will likely never see it. Also, the point of this is characters, not real people, so even people who have said they're ADHD won't be posted.
YOU MUST SUBMIT THROUGH THE FORM, NOT MY ASKBOX. I am, of course, ADHD myself, and I need all the submissions in one place or I'll lose them.
Got it? Here's the link to the form.
About the Mod/Blog
You can call me Mudkip if you'd like, or my name, Réka. She/her only please, do not use any other pronouns for me including they/them. I am an adult. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age and have it bad enough that I consider myself disabled. So ADHD rep is very important to me! And I'd like to both learn about ADHD rep I might not have heard of, and spread awareness of what ADHD people are like through the characters that people might not even realize are like us.
My icon is the character 707/Seven from Mystic Messenger, I chose him because although it's a bit hidden he is canonically ADHD! There's a call where he talks about how he talks to himself, and if you say "I heard people with adhd talk to themselves a lot..." he agrees with you, as well as displaying other ADHD traits through the whole game.
...is this entire blog partially part of my agenda to spread the word of canon ADHD Seven? Maybe.
Header is Zack Fair from Final Fantasy VII; he's not canonically ADHD but there's strong evidence for it and I couldn't resist using the "Me? Gongaga." meme.
I often can't resist making non-poll posts on this blog, although I swear I try. If you're just here for the polls you might want to filter the tag "not a poll"!
My main is @hungarianmudkip69 .
Tagging System, for your searching or filtering convenience
#poll - the polls. this only includes "do you know this character" polls, not any other polls I might do.
#not a poll - anything that doesn't get the above tag. Including other types of polls. You know what I mean.
#canon adhd character - polls for characters that are canonically ADHD.
#noncanon adhd character - polls for characters that aren't canonically ADHD, but have solid evidence behind the headcanon.
#poll results - a reblog of an ended poll with calculations of how many people know the character and what percentage of those people know/see the character as ADHD.
#poll reblog - any reblog of a poll that isn't poll results.
#other polls - polls from other blogs.
#blog management - anything about the running of the blog.
#ask - asks. I don't know what else to tell you.
#approval inquiry - asks asking if a character has been approved for posting.
#submission inquiry - asks asking if a character has been submitted.
this was part of the original pinned and I always like seeing this part of poll blog pinneds so I'm leaving it
I'm supposed to tag other polls for visibility, right? This was largely inspired by @who-do-i-know-this-man and @doyouknowthisdisabledcharacter as well as @do-you-know-this-queer-character !
If you want to know if someone's been posted, check below:
Polls in progress:
707/Saeyoung Choi from Mystic Messenger (canon)
Kyle Klimson from The InBESTigators (noncanon)
SpongeBob SquarePants from SpongeBob SquarePants (noncanon)
Sherlock Holmes from the original Sherlock Holmes stories (noncanon)

So feel free to ignore this but I am literally so intrigued by your HCs about Sol's childhood?? Spare a crumpet pls???
P.s. thank you for filling my dash with Baze and Chirrut (and Sol) <33
so a lot of my headcanons come from a combination of trying to add context to what little we know about him in canon + my own self-projections lol. buckle up, we're going for a ride (my ideas span from his pre-jedi childhood on his homeworld probably up to his teenage years as a padawan!!)
(banner is an edit made by the blorbo from my blogs @/armoralor)
so first off, jj actually spoke very briefly about sol's childhood in an interview from july 4 where he mentions that sol was very lonely and kind of struggled with his training when he was growing up. plus we have that line from vernestra in ep 1 about how sol was shy when he was a youngling
funnily enough, i hadn't seen that interview when it first came out but i was thinking a lot about sol's childhood around that time, so i'd made like a whole post about it literally a week after, which i'll add my favorite parts here:
i keep thinking about what would make a man so dedicated to being a jedi so reckless and selfish when it comes to wanting a padawan, and all i can think about is him growing up lonely he's so shy that he's unable to connect with his peers and thus feels closest to his mentors and the adults in his life, but nothing feels satisfying to him the way he wants it to. he doesn't feel like anyone truly knows him bc his peers see him as odd and the adults see him as a child, and he feels somewhere in between
^ especially in regards to the 2nd part, i kind of headcanon sol as being neurodivergent or on the autism spectrum. now this is much more of a me-specific headcanon bc i'm also on the spectrum and i grew up feeling much the same way, so i ended up projecting onto him a lil bit. but i digress.
me personally, i was a very lonely child bc i loved books and learning more than being with my peers (and i couldn't socialize to save my life). i got along better with the teachers & other adults in my life than kids my own age. similarly, bc of sol's deep friendship and connection with vernestra, i like to think of her being a mentor to him when he was a youngling, that she was the jedi master he always turned to instead of any of his peers bc she made him feel safe and heard (maybe she was the one who found him???). plus she had her own "gifted child who advanced too fast too early" complex, so i think she would've understood sol and tried to support him (i also like the idea of her being sol's master & i know that's not canon/wouldn't work bc of qimir, but i still like to headcanon it anyways lol)
as for his family life before the jedi, i get p much all of my thoughts on that from ep 3 & 7. he tells osha that he was taken from his family at the age of 4 & that not only was he different from the rest of his family, but he discovered that with the jedi there were other children like him. so again, on his homeworld he was probably very lonely and separated from his peers bc he (and everyone else) knew he was somehow different (which would again relate to him being on the spectrum. when ur growing up and ur not neurotypical, you kinda just know that you don't fit in with everyone else but you don't understand why)
where my other thoughts on his childhood come is also ep 3 & 7 related. like i mentioned in the tags of this post, you can see how sol is reacting to his observations of the baby twins in the forest. my biggest takeaway from this scene is when koril shows up and says "there will be consequences for breaking the rules"
^ tell me that's not the face of a traumatized man. my very first thought when i realized this was, oh god he was abused. maybe that's dramatic of me, but i think that either emotionally or physically, baby sol was mistreated by his family (if he's this terrified of "consequences", did he get hit as a kid for disobeying/breaking rules/not doing the right thing?). he literally has that ptsd deer in headlights stare, he's visibly shaking, and for the rest of his time on brendok, sol is acting under the impression that the twins (but mostly osha) are in danger. he's projecting his own trauma and fears onto osha bc her predicament reminds him of his own
other less angsty headcanons i have of his childhood/homeworld have just gradually developed from wanting to see him happy, things i've seen explored in fics, etc etc. but i like to think that sol grew up in a little farming community, like a foresty rural korean village, and i think he had a mom, dad, and some siblings, altho i definitely think he was the youngest. (this also leads into my thoughts that, if sol had never become a jedi or he'd left the order, he would have been really happy becoming a farmer on his homeworld and getting married, starting a family of his own. or maybe he would've been a teacher to the local children. either way tho, i think a quiet and peaceful life with a family of his own that he absolutely treasures would've been so wonderful)
i also think maybe he was also very fond of nature. he probably enjoyed the river, exploring the woods, feeling the force energy that emanates from every living thing. so ofc when he gets taken to coruscant, that's an incredibly jarring experience for him bc everything is cold, hard metal or stone. even as beautiful as the jedi temple is, it's all stone. there's no grass or flowers or gardens or animals except for like, the one singular tree in some meditation garden i think?? and the last surviving piece of the planet is the highest mountain that you can only see the very top of. so i think maybe that contributed to sol feeling alone as a young padawan bc he was disconnected from nature and it left him feeling really unmoored for a long time
so like, all of that combined with sol's inherent fondness for children really screams to me about a boy who grew up feeling very alone, probably didn't have a lot of friends, and had a very emotionally painful life, and then he saw all these little younglings who want to become jedi and he thinks to himself "i could show them that they don't have to be afraid, that there are no wrong answers when it comes to the force, i won't let any of these children feel the way that i did". which is, i think, why he connected so much to osha ("you're going to be okay, osha. you will never feel like this again."). he saw that she didn't want to be on brendok, she felt like an outcast among her family, and he really connected with that 💔
#master sol#sol the acolyte#sol the jedi#the acolyte#my posts#anyways thank u for coming to my ted talk#ALSO i have thoughts on a sol au where he's a fellow guardian with baze and chirrut. might i interest u in this concept?

GET TO KNOW YOUR MUTUALS 💋
Tagged by my beloved @violaobanion ❤️🔥 Thank you my boubou.
What's the origin of your blog title?
I’m a Richard III (the Shakespeare psycho boy) girlie. I love antagonists and anti-heroes as a general rule and well, he’s my boy, my blorbo, as the youth say. Richard is referred to as a bottled spider and my favorite interpretation of Dick (so far) was by Arthur Hughes *shocked gasp* and he’s very cute, so... Here we are, cutebottledspider. 🕷️
OTP(s) + shipname:
I don’t often ship characters but when I do, I do it hard. The hardest is Shardlake/Barak, from the Shardlake book series and cruelly cancelled TV show. Also, Richard with anyone.
Favorite color:
Black 🖤🕷️🐈⬛ ⚫️ (it is a color, I will die on that hill.)
Song stuck in your head:
I don’t have one rn but if I had it would probably be something by the Chemical Brothers or some Vladimir Cauchemar flute filled track. Also love me some Charli XCX and a ton of other stuff.
Weirdest habit/trait:
Not suuuuure. I guess wearing sun glasses inside sometimes when I’m alone and no one’s here to call me a weirdo lol. Also, I vomit quite often.
Hobbies:
Rather recently started making gifs and it’s addictive. Otherwise, reading, keeping a common place book, messing about on my computer (I love notion, obsidian and keeping up to date with front end dev in general). I used to love writing but I’m having a hard time doing it recently.
If you work, what's your profession?
Graphic designer and occasional front end dev (self employed).
If you could have any job you wish, what would it be?
Beach bum. I’m just glad I get to work in my pyjamas.
Something you're good at:
I don’t know. I’m not brilliant at anything imo but maybe I’m wrong.
Something you collect:
Nothing. I don’t like to have a lot of anything.
Something you forget:
Lol, everything, all the time, especially words.
What's your love language:
Feeling like people know you and knowing people in return, as in noticing and remembering little things and trying to understand even when it isn’t easy. When someone says « I know you » and I feel like it’s true, I feel all fuzzy. Paying attention and seeing the little things. It matters to me. Also I'll stuff you with waffles until you puke. I’m toxic like that.
Favorite movie/show:
There are way too many but I guess the most timeless things for me are Succession, It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia, Curb your enthusiasm, Back to the Future, Fight Club, Twin Peaks, LoTR trilogy, All about Lily Chou Chou, and I love anything with fucking Leslie Nielsen. There’s probably some stuff I’m forgetting because it also depends on my mood.
As for more recent stuff, I loved the Substance, quite enjoyed Nosferatu, looooved Ripley (Andrey Scott my beloved) and well, I thought Shardlake was an okay adaptation and deserved more that one season. It was an extra special treat to have an actor I adore play two of my favorite characters ever. And Antony Boyle (phroar) was a perfect Barak. The casting was the best thing about this show.
Favorite food:
Favorite animal:
Cats and Dogs. Also rabbits.
What were you like as a child:
Quiet and shy.
Favorite subject at school:
None, hated school. Being done with school was like being born a second time.
Least favorite subject:
Above all, I hated P.E.
What's your best character trait?
I’m rather generous I think. Maybe. I tend to be a glass half full person most of the time (don’t count PMS lol)
What's your worst character trait?
When I hate, I hate hard. Also I might be quick to judge sometimes. Also it’s only bad for me bu I eat my feelings andI get easily addicted to various things.
If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be?
I’d want to be skinnier and more athletic. In better physical condition as a general rule. Also can someone pay for permanent hair removal for me? It’s okay, you can PayPal me.
If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet?
Shakespeare I guess. Also I’d want to see what my parents were like when they were young. I feel like my wee mom would have been adorable.
No pressure tag: @attaboylew @yourfriendlyneighbourhoodsimp @peachessndreamss @beforeviolets

18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing? for your tiefling maybe? and 2. what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song? for whichever oc you'd want to answer that for
Three days late <3 anyway. Hi. I assume by tiefling you mean my darling BG3 Tav Constant, though of course I am queer and therefore incapable of not making tieflings; and so I have multiple of them (notably Cécilia the wizard).
But so, for Constant, their opinion on lying, stealing & killing is that it's not generally commendable but sometimes it's acceptable. Before they had to go on an insane adventure, they weren't in very difficult situations, so it was a theoretical discussion, like asking your friends what they would do if xyz. Now, almost at the end of their involuntary quest to save the world, they've lied to people, and stolen stuff, and killed more creatures than even a fair amount of adventurers.
That's a bit of a boring answer though, like "well try not to but if you have to you have to", so I'll say, they tend to be motivated to do things by wanting to create a stable environment for people, especially their loved ones, and curiosity - so I imagine they've lied on smaller stuff to keep the peace in their group of disparate misfits, or let someone (wonder who) steal a magic item they wanted to know more about, that kind of thing. The killing was self defense, because it turns out a lot of stuff wanted to kill them & their friends, and most of them couldn't be talked out of it.
For the other one, I wanted to answer for Solaros, my DAtV Rook... but that would make a really boring answer, because unfortunately I have no fucking clue what kinda music the people of Thedas create and listen to lol. Veilguard is light on lore so I made up my own vague idea of his childhood based on the wiki, and I imagine that as a Dalish elf the music he heard growing up was like, a mix of whatever old music they remember from Elvhenan and folk songs people have been making up? So that's probably what he likes, unless I find something interesting during the game that I can say he also enjoys. (But I'm keeping in mind that apparently your music taste is shaped by what you enjoyed as a teenager, so.)
If I were to modern AU-him I think I would make him enjoy country and old classics, like, those old standards everyone covered, or generally stuff that sounds like it's been here forever. Also living up to the "facet of me" thing and giving him the teenage discovery of vocaloid that alters your brain forever. In spirit he was an Aishite aishite aishite/Rolling girl/My R 13yo, which means nothing to most people unfortunately, but I can't convey it another way.
Thank you for asking!! I really meant for the post to just be on my blog so I could find it easier, but it's nice talking about Blorbo From My Brain on here.
#you don't know these guys and this isn't particularly telling about who they are#i am only now realizing#wow i have an asks tag now#wow i have an ocs tag now

I have a performance review next week at work (el problema es el capitalismo) so I think I might as well do that for my blog.
I swear I'm not trying to take my blog seriously. When I was three years old, I had a poster of the only wuxia hero on TV and my family members still joke about that.
I know I have made too many bad jokes on here. Way too many. But I wouldn't have done that if I didn't feel comfortable around you all.
This blog may never see its Fall Out (I was rebellious once, in high school, but that was a long time ago). But when it fades into black, some people might stay around for the end credits, and I'll be happy for that.
I can't say I have achieved what I wanted to achieve and I don't think I ever will. I wasn't trying to face myself or this world or making it any tumblr poll electorate's problem. I wish I had done a better job at marketing McGoohan, no matter how much he hated the word.
You know, whenever I see a David Bowie photo, I have the feeling that the person who took the photo really loved him. I can't really say that for most McGoohan photos and I don't think he would have wanted that.
But my photoshop sometimes crashes and when it happens, I would stare at the error message and say "I wouldn't be doing this if I could just buy him some flowers."
I don't like to think to much about what blorbofication is. I know its final stage would be unblorbofication. And I'm not prepared for that.
When I was a kid, they sold picture books right outside of my kindergarten. Every time my mom picked me up, I would say I want a picture book, and she would tell me we had no money for that many picture books.
Do I ever feel tired of blorbo posting? Well, I would rather not say.
But I would like to say thank you for coming to see Farmer Bebop and her Delovelies tonight. To you all I'll sing:
"He's got everything he needs He's an artist, he don't look back He's got everything he needs He's an artist, he don't look back"

And so, this concludes the tournaments!
Welp, this is now the end of all three of the tournaments!
I want to thank you guys so much for participating in these polls! They were super fun to put together and I really enjoyed seeing everyone come together and support their respective blorbos in the notes and tags of the polls!
While it did get a little crazy towards the ending half of the third tournament, I still had a blast putting all of this together!
Soooo, what now?
Well, I'm not sure! Of course, I'll be keeping this blog up so anyone can come back and look at the past tournaments! How active will this blog be, though? I'm not too sure either! I'll keep the ask box open just in case anyone wants to say hi or maybe ask any questions about the three tournaments and I'll try to check in as often as I can!
However though, I can still be found on my main blog and I'm definitely a lot more active there, so anyone can check that out if you'd like! I mostly reblog about my favorite games and shows and I do post art as often as I can!
Will I ever come back to this blog and host a tournament again?
Honestly.....perhaps! Despite the third tournament being the last one, I still entertained the thought of doing another, since I admittedly still have just a couple favorite characters of mine that I hadn't included at all in the three tournaments, and because these were just so fun to put together! So maybe I might return to this blog again for perhaps an anniversary tournament someday.
For now though, I think I will take a good break for a couple months before so.
With that being said, thank you guys again for your participation in these tournaments! They were definitely really fun and an interesting experience! Have a good night you guys! :D
~ WK
