The softest Harringrove brain worm that’s ever invaded my head where Billy is the sole guardian of his little step-sister Max. (very little, like 6 years old little. And Billy is 25ish, so it’s a big enough age gap where everyone naturally assumes he’s just a single dad.) And Steve is the host of a dorky yet successful kids tv show called Mr H’s Treehouse (think Mr. Rogers) that Max is OBSESSED with.

She makes Billy watch it with her every single evening, like clockwork. Now, Billy would never admit this, not even with a fucking gun to his head—but he kind of starts to look forward to watching it with her. But it isn’t his fault! The host is, pardon his French, fucking hot as shit.

So every night he gets home from work, drops whatever take-out garbage he got for them onto their TV dinner trays, and parks himself in front of the idiot box while Mr. H from Mr. H’s Treehouse comes on and teaches him and Max about the power of friendship and sharing and eating vegetables or whatever the hell else he’s on about that week. It’s stupid, but it kind of becomes cathartic. Like Billy can just shut his brain off and stuff his face and watch the bright colors and listen to the gentle music and let the stresses of his life fade away—at least for that half-hour anyway. The fact that Mr. H has an ass Billy could bounce a quarter off of… well, it doesn’t hurt.

But what happens when there’s a meet and greet/Story-Time being hosted at Max’s elementary school? Well, Billy’s not a complete douchebag, so of course he has to take her! It has nothing to do with the fact that he also maybe wants to meet this tv host who’s all soft sweaters and pretty brown eyes that Billy’s maybe been fantasizing about for the past year and a half. That’s not it! He’s here for his nerdy little twerp step-sister, nothing more.

I'm with you there on preferring bottom!Alastor and getting squicked out by top!Alastor. The squick is worse for me when searching radioapple than radiostatic stuff, and I think it has more to do with the egregious amount of uke-fication of Lucifer that I've seen. Vox and Al get it sometimes too, let's be real that's gonna happen in any mlm ship. But I feel like it happens SO often to Lucifer, mostly cause he's small and cute, that people completely forget he's the oldest and most powerful entity in hell.

He would NOT be genuinely scared or intimidated by Al or any other sinner for that matter and Al would NOT be able to physically overpower or threaten Luci. It just feels so wildly out of character for me that any of the appeal of the ship/characters is gone at that point.

Like, for real, no shade to anyone that likes that, go on and get your food. But my extreme dislike of it has me now avoiding bottom!Lucifer radioapple like the plague just so I don't risk being subjected to it.

I think...I think you just described why I feel so squicked out by bottom!Lucifer and top!Alastor 😦 Like, I couldn't figure out what exactly about it was throwing me off, but you just said it perfectly!!

That's literally it! It's the uke-fication of Lucifer. That's it. Lucifer would never feel threatened by Alastor. He would never be overpowered by Alastor. So when I see depictions of Alastor successfully intimidating Lucifer, or overpowering him at all, it just throws me out of the story.

Lucifer's been alive longer than Hell. Alastor's measely 100+ years of being alive is nothing compared to his millennia+ lifespan. And yeah, Lucifer is the strongest person in Hell, he could beat Alastor in any fight, no question. He has no reason to be scared or threatened by him.

And look, there are ways to get Lucifer to a point of being afraid. There are always a way to make characters act in a way you wouldn't typically see. In fact, Lucifer, the biggest, baddest person in Hell, being threatened by something would be a huge thing for his character and for the story. That could totally work!

But when it comes from Alastor just going into his demon form, or looming over Lucifer, I just 🥲 it takes me out of the story. I can't. Alastor may be a big bad Overlord, and he's dangerous for sure, but like...power-wise he is just not on Lucifer's level and Lucifer knows that--Alastor knows that--and this is what makes their dynamic so, SO interesting, especially if they're in a relationship or slowly building into a relationship. That's what makes it so spicy and flavorful. The push and pull. The insecurity and emotion. The complex dynamic between them.

I think you're right about it making bottom!Lucifer and top!Alastor lose its appeal. I went back through my Twitter bookmarks yesterday and found a few top!Alastor's & bottom!Lucifer's that I've saved, but I've come to dislike that generalized characterization of it so much that I avoid it it like the plague too.

And like you said, there's no hate to those who enjoy it. This is fandom and people are allowed to write, draw, and do what they want. It's all fiction and it's not hurting anyone.

I just don't like the top!Alastor & bottom!Lucifer dynamic in most fan-arts, and I don't click onto fics with it cause I just don't want to subject myself to an unenjoyable time 😂 I'm here to have fun too, afterall.

Unless it’s a part of his character development and something Blitz calls him out on - something he stops doing early on (as he does in canon) - I can’t continue reading whatever it is. Ever wondered what the fictional protagonists of Distilling Destiny might look like? Well, here's my interpretation ;>!!

If you don't know what Distilling Destiny is, I suggest you go read Flipping Fate- the fanfic I'm co-writing :>! It's a fake book that exists within the world of FF- written by the one and only Stretch! (or, in real life: @collegecomics18 ;D)

There's no "canon" design for these characters, but I thought it'd be fun to try come up with some concepts :>! I actually drew these months ago with a gap between finishing each, so they all look slightly different stylistically lol

First off! Each design is associated with a playing card suit; the Knight is associated with HEARTS (♥️) , the Soothsayer with DIAMONDS (♦️) , and the Bard with CLUBS (♣). Not only can this be seen in small details, but also in their overall poses/shapes!

The shapes also correlate very neatly into the idea that all the characters are from different kingdoms- I would have tried to differentiate each kingdom's clothing style a bit more buuuuut that's... a lot of work, and we only really see a couple characters from each kingdom, so I just stuck with making each character feel distinct.

One thing I also tried to go for was making all of them "faceless" in various ways, since the characters in Distilling Destiny are embodied by their roles in a way that effectively strips them of any further identity; during the book club, the DD!characters are referred to as they are in the book- they HAVE no names, and are only referred to by their titles. They are also meant to correlate to/reflect the characters of Flipping Fate in a not-very subtle way, on account of Stretch being the author (and... [REDACTED]).

The Knight's armour references a LOT of things. Obviously, OG Papyrus' battle body (even his little blue shorts ;>), but the red plume on his helmet is meant to call back to Undyne, and some of the golden bits (e.g on the back of his gauntlets) are not only "heart" shaped, but are also reminiscent of tridents and thus Asgore and the Royal Guard.

The Soothsayer's clothes are patterned with diamonds and coins- they are both a connection to the reader/MC, but also!!! In tarot the "matching" suite for diamonds would be coins/pentacles :]!! The Bard's pipe is a fantasy equivalent of his FF counterpart's bad habits, and his blue accents are meant to be a small nod toward his brother LOL.

Anyway, this is already long as heck so why not make it longer! So here are the sketches that I did back in….. SEPTEMBER 2022?? kjdhfkjsf

You can see the original sketch for the Bard is much smaller than the other two since I did it while I was at work LMAO (plus the initial idea for the Knight I had, which ended up getting changed.)

A long and obnoxiously sarcastic response to Kemi Badenoch

(and the comments about autism in "Conservatism in Crisis: Rise of the Bureaucratic Class.")

Today I opened my phone and found out that, according to Kemi Badenoch, my disability gives me “better treatment” and “economic privileges and protections”. This was news to me, to be honest. The last time I checked the only thing autism gave me was a sensory overload whenever I sat in my Health and Social Care classroom and a few funny looks when the “working with people with autism” slide popped up on the aggressively buzzing projector (that apparently only I can hear) in said classroom.

I can understand the sentiment, I suppose. The idea is that autistic people get “better treatment or equipment at school.” It makes sense, right? Those pesky disabled kids and their extra time and word processors! What an advantage! 

Although, that perspective does ignore the gap that those “advantages” were put there to bridge. 

Take me, for example, I use a word processor for my exams (heinous, I know) so that the examiners don’t have to squint, pray to God and make a deal with the devil to be able to read my 4-mark geography question on oxbow lakes. When I was first given my laptop, the 14-year-old teenage girls around me were rather jealous. Obviously. They had to work on paper while I tap-tap-tapped away at my laptop with an evil little autistic smirk on my face. How could I do such a thing?! They don’t get a laptop! They don’t get to tap-tap-tap away to their heart’s content! Why should I? That’s not equal. That’s not fair. 

That only lasted for about a week, though. The first essay I got back after switching to a laptop was two grades higher than the one before. It was my target, actually. It turned out that my pathetic and slightly below-average grades were just caused by the teachers’ inability to read my work; not my intelligence or English skills. When I told one of the girls that–one of the ones who said my laptop was disgustingly unfair–it was like a lightbulb turned on above her head. She understood then. My word processor didn’t put me at an advantage, it didn’t give me some sort of unfair headstart, it gave me an equal playing field. 

It gave me a chance to show my academic skills in a way I was unable to before. 

I think, when you do not receive any support from your school, it can be extremely easy to see accommodations and support as getting an opportunity stripped from you or being put a step behind those who receive help, but that perspective is rather childish, to be honest. It ignores the gap. It ignores the bridge that needs to be built and assumes that all students can just jump from one side of the gap to the other without any help. Except the people who hold those opinions tend to be the ones who are already on the right side. They don’t need to jump, they don’t need a bridge. In fact, many of them are completely unaware of how wide the gap is because they don’t even have to turn their head to look at it.

I could go on, manhandling every metaphor I have under my belt, about basic empathy and how autism is a disability and neurodevelopmental condition and not just a “neurodiversity diagnosis” that can be grouped with anxiety to downplay its impact on every aspect of life, but I fear that that would be a waste of both my precious time and words. 

Instead, dear reader, I will leave you with this: 

Being a 44-year-old woman and not understanding the basic concept of equity, something I was taught in primary school, shows a clear deficit in empathy that I truly cannot fully comprehend. A terrifying deficit, to be honest. But perhaps it is just easier to ignore the gap than address it, then you don’t have to look down into its dark depths and acknowledge the people who fell down it due to your ineptitude.

This is literally one of my favorite moments for both Harry Kim and B’Elanna characterization. I think a lot of people forget how soft hearted and altruistic B’Elanna specifically can be while Harry, of course a friendly and sweet individual, devotes himself most often to the mission, his friends and Starfleet’s ideals. Harry’s been shown to be much more down-to-earth and less fantastical in his thinking than either Tom or B’Elanna. The only time he gets in major trouble with Janeway and breaks protocol is because he wants to be with a woman. This is distinctly different to me than Tom’s (attempting to save an alien world) and B’Elanna’s (giving a robot race the ability to reproduce) transgressions. His other biggest infraction is begin a mutiny which he does in order to save Janeway & Chakotay. He doesn’t get in trouble for this which is why I put it last but again it seems different from Tom or B’Elanna to me because it’s For The Ship it’s For The Captain it’s a crime which displays his loyalty to Janeway instead of one which demonstrates him going against her ideologically (as shown by the lack of punishment). In that way I think B’Elanna and Harry balance each other well. B’Elanna is a person who seems very nervous and defensive when in conversation with others, who thinks of herself as a person who is ‘bad’ and doesn’t believe in herself much. Meanwhile Harry seems to be at ease with most anyone he speaks to, attempting to befriend even Seven of Nine right away. He’s confident in himself and his abilities and out of everyone (yes even Tom who seems most often to just become frustrated) would be the one to push B’Elanna and break through her defenses. That’s to say it makes perfect sense that B’Elanna would be absolutely enamored by this person who views her as inspiring, would be struck by that while Harry views it as just a weird question.

Making a level 0 Lancer character just to try it out and I wanted to make a kinda support character, so I ended up with a playstyle that does stuff like using Lock On to support allies, and also placing drones and using tech attacks. When it came time to pick my weapons, I realized I probably won't actually be shooting them too often, so weapons that require reloading won't have that much of a downside.

And that's how my support character ended up wielding a pair of Missile Racks and a Superheavy Cyclone Pulse Rifle.

Like I get it some of yall wanna see your favorite little menaces interact and have relationships with people that aren't based on antagonism but there's a difference between redeemed/reformed antagonists (or those who at least gave up on being antagonistic) and straight up giving them a whole ass different personality

If you want your villains to be cuddly or be uwu kawaii desu desu moe I implore you to look at the protags best friend or the heart or someone else who could be that cuddly let the antagonists be bullies! Let them be tsunderes! (Actually no I don't trust those people to accurately depict tsunderes) I promise you any relationship isn't super weak to crumble as soon as someone says one mean thing to someone else

Hmmm nothing really comes to mind I'm not a picky reader I'll read pretty much anything shoot I'll even read tropes I'm not too fond of simply because I like reading fics sjfjsjfj (and tbh aiyusa will be the exception to a lot of yuckie tropes cause I love them that much akfkskk)

If anything did piss me off it probably didn't happen as much I don't remember ever wanting to rant about fics compared to other things like art or posts
