So, my (likely very scrambled) gig report from Zagreb, 3rd of December 2024.

-First of all, @xianvar and @chibi-chellist it was so lovely to meet you yesterday, thank you for letting me hang out with you before the concert, you guys were amazing

-I think I experienced the gig in a way that others do for the first time. Exchanging bracelets, talking to people I didn't know before, meeting international friends...honestly it was so amazing, I totally get why people travel so much for these concerts

-also big thank you to @spockowhales for not only sticking with me but also laighing at my swooning during some part (and a shade for screaming "NOGE" into my ear, I laughed through half of the song because of it)

Okay, onto the actual concert

-there were less people than the last time, but it was easier to breathe so I am not complaining. And the atmosphere was amazing, I think the audience was pretty much on fire during "Šta bih ja" especially. Definitely a song that's even better irl

-Bojan wearing a shirt with Jure and Jure wearing a shirt with Bojan on it? Perfection. I loved it

-Kiki being called onto the stage because it was his birthday recently, and all of us singing "Happy birthday" to him in croatian and him blushing so hard, it was adorable

-Bojan saying "and now, our DJ Maček will play one song for us" cue Jure coming down with the radio playing Stephanie was SO hilarious

-also Jure was so flirty with everyone while he was there. Especially with Bojan but he went from one momeber of the band to the other and honestly? Good for him

-bonus points for when Nace got close to Jan and it seemed they were gonna have a moment but then-here comes Jure! Lemme in the middle, you guys are around each other all the time! 10/10

-someone in the audience holding a rose and a sign "a rose for a pick?" Bojan upon reading it, in a true himbo fashion, saying: "the rose's name is pick?" And when we all laughed and he REALIZED he laughed and gave them a pick. And then received another rose and said: "oh, lovely! But I don't have any picks left now!" But then Kiki came to the recue and gave him another, so that fan also got their pick

-I don't remember at which song this was, but someone threw male underwear at Bojan. He picked it up, laughed and put it on the mic stand and then later on his head. Bonus points because there were no bras thrown that night, only male underwear. Truly, the gays have taken over 😂

-during Lips, when Bojan sang "put your lips on mine" he got into Jan's personal space and Jan slightly induldged him before stepping back and Bojan laughed and kind of, pretnded to grap his face except he only grabbed air? Weird shennanings as always

-During Tokio, Jan and Nace spinning and running at the first part and then Kris and Nace doing the same thing as some weird 3 in 1 dance. Very cute

-UMK, Bojan saying at the beginning: "and here we have 5 people who want to sing today!" Then after 2 people sang saying: "now we have...5 more people left who want to sing!" cue my friend groaning in despair 😂

-korean version went hard tho

-loved how Nace and Jan immediately went to talk to one another when karaoke started. As my friend put it: "they need UM karaoke just so Jan and Nace can have a yap session"

-Bluza goes sooo hard live too, oh my god. The way you can feel the emotions of the song?? I was dead

-during Omamljeno Telo, Bojan either threw or spat water at Jan again(I couldn't see well, I am short), and then IMMEDIATELY Nace appeared next to Jan after 😂 (protective bf activated)

-I can't remember during which song was this, but at one point, Bojan caressed Jan's face and rhen went and did the same with Kris' arm and it looked like Kris was trying very hard not to laugh

-ofc, Novi Val beloved, with all of them together on the stage. Magical, as always, I have no further notes to share

I wasn't feeling too well afterwards so I wasn't there for the stamp event so someone else will have to relay the details of it, but yeah! It was absolutely amazing experience for me and thank you for everyone who was there to share it with me ❤️

A few reasons I like and dislike the the new Percy Jackson show (and why I think the musical is better) - initial reaction

To start, I think this new PJO show is a million times better than that dumpster fire of a movie (though I love logan lerman <3). I like that it is quite faithful to the overall arcs and major plot lines of the book. I love the diversity and high caliber of actors (though I def have some Viria-art inspired character images in my head that are god-tier). I love some of the characterizations/portrayals, especially when it comes to making the character more complex (I really appreciate TV Sally for being a real person with complex emotion, though of course book Sally is my fav). And I love that it's so high budget and hgihly-anticipated (great marketing) that it is bringing this beloved story to a greater audience, especially the younger generation and older generation (as parents/grandparents) than those of us who grew up with the series.

I can boil down all of my dislikes of this show into one overarching but very essential part of the show: I don't like that it is a drama. The characters are way too serious and too every-other-moment-we-need-an-instense-heart-to-heart. What I think this show should have been is a comedy adventure with drama/melodrama sprinkled in. In the books, it's all about the banter. And the TV show does some good one-liners, but it's always so serious. I think the best part of the book is that the characters can stay light-hearted and fun despite the horrors and terrors they face. In the show, the gods spoon feed the trio most of the answers, so when they do have a good realization (SPOILER: e.g. Kronos being the orchestrating force) it kind of comes out of nowhere. TV Annabeth is so serious (I know in the first book she is her most serious, but not to this degree) and a lot of the moments when she has time to use her smarts are gone or approached differently. Percy, too. He's not just self-sacrificing (which they really lean into in the show) but he's also incredibly smart and silly. In the books he's kind of a surface-level himbo with great critical thinking, but in the show he's kind of left in the dark and doesn't get opportunities to make his own plans (also, he doesn't seem to know how to control his power (by the 7th episode); whereas in the book he def did at this point. Then there are just dumb changes to make the show more "serious" like not mentioning that cell phones attract monsters or that monsters just smell demigods and not have a 6th sense for them. I'm finding that by trying to change these small details to make it something more exciting or interesting, it's distancing us existing fans by not letting us relate to the small details that really don't matter. For the cellphones, they still use Iris messages rather than getting a payphone or something, so that's kind of a plot hole in the show that is answered by the book.

Anyways, those are my main takeaways. Now, when I say "the musical" I refer to The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical by Joe Tracz and Rick Rokicki which first premiered in 2014 but got revamped and redebued in 2017 (which is when it came into my life). I got to see it live in Toronto in 2019 with my middle school best friend, but have been an avid listener of the soundtrack since 2017 (the day it came out on streaming platforms).

The musical in my eyes is a nearly-perfect adaptation of the book. It's soo funny - def the action comedy I'm after, but does have the meaningful emotional moments (ballads, which are essential in musicals). The show itself if the full package; however, even just listening to the soundtrack gives you the whole gist. less "i wish people asked about them" and more "i should probably talk about them more" but i feel like Rosalie's human friends get kinda shoved to the side when i talk about botrd because of all the Other Stuff that goes on. i've talked the most about Emily (because i'm biased and she's my favorite) and a little about Henry (Rosalie's loser boyfriend guy who is trying his best) so lemme drop a bit about the third member of their squad, Mike!

Mike is Emily's long-term boyfriend, ex-star of the high school basketball team, and just a fun guy to be around. he's the mediator, always trying to lighten the mood. he's also the one that steps in when Emily and Henry are grilling Rosalie about her emotions/trying to push her to talk when she's very obviously not ready to. the group pokes fun at him a lot because he's not very smart (though it could be argued that he pretends to know less than he does to defuse certain situations) but he's very charismatic and gets along with everyone. our resident himbo, we love him

(James is Henry's older brother and is very bitter about his only real friends being his brother's friends first, but that's a whole situation and deserves its own post)

something that gets mentioned briefly but really comes back in later chapters is that all of them were friends with Andrew. Rosalie was closest to him, but they all loved him, and they all grieve him. and it's difficult for Rosalie to process this because she's still actively hurting and they've mostly moved on with their lives which leads to a lot of resentment and misplaced anger (and effectively catapults her into the arms of our beloved grim reaper)

bad buddy fandom getting-to-know-you-meme!

Tagged by @telomeke, thanks friend! I had to get through the weekend drama deluge before I could clear out some brain space to answer this one properly, because I never mess around when I'm talking Bad Buddy.

Name and whatever you want to share about yourself

Shan, she/her, I live in the US. I am a lifelong consumer of stories and both an avid reader and drama watcher. I write a lot of meta because when I enjoy a thing I love to dissect and unpack it, and I post on tumblr because I have the most fun when I do that with other people.

When did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

I watched Bad Buddy live when it was airing! I was not on tumblr then but I was lurking around fandom spaces and following the week to week discussions around the show, but not actively participating in them. After that my interest in bl as a genre only grew, so I created this blog about 9 months ago to start joining in the fun.

Favourite ship/s

Pat/Pran, of course. They are amongst my all time favorite couples that I've seen in any media, period. I will spice this up by also admitting Pa/Ink didn't do all that much for me. They were just a bit too underwritten for me; I am not someone that is wowed by side crumbs or enjoys filling in the gaps myself. But I am really looking forward to seeing Milk and Love headline their own show soon.

Favourite character/s

Going to take a stand here and throw my love Pat's way, because Pran is the character most in fandom seem to connect with. But I just love Pat. He's such a kind and loyal and devoted person at heart. He's a little bit of a himbo about his emotions, but he's also quite smart in his own way and he understands more than people realize. I love his easy acceptance of his own sexuality but also others around him. He has good instincts about people and it's no coincidence he ends up surrounded by such a good community of his own making. And I respect the hell out of his willingness to fight the constraints of filial piety to call his father on his bullshit. He is someone Pran can trust to stick with him through a lot of hard shit, and his easy forgiveness of Pran's more prickly attributes is crucial to their relationship health. For someone with such a healthy ego, Pat has no problem putting it aside for the man he loves. That's real strength, right there.

Favourite episode/s

Joining the pile on for Episode 11, my beloved. When I tell you I was sobbing the first time I watched it. Tears just pouring down my face from the moment Pat told Pran he understood they had to go back all the way through Pran's song for Pat and their return home. It's one of the most moving sequences I have ever seen in a romance, the way they came to the realization of what they were facing, chose each other anyway, and decided they were going to find a way to stay together, even if it couldn't be in exactly the way they hoped.

Favourite scene/s

Oh gosh, there are just so many. The aforementioned sequence in ep 11, both major rooftop scenes, that lone tear tracking down Pran's face at the end of episode 4, Pat confronting Ming. On the lighter side, there's also the brainstorming roleplay from ep 3, pretty much every courtship scene where they flirted via PPL, the FINGER LICK, the final episode wrestling match and sex acrobatics. Every scene between Pat and Pran was just aces.

One thing you would change about the show if you could

*cracks knuckles*

Okay, fam, just remember, you asked! Bad Buddy is one of my favorite shows of all time, but as I have discussed with @waitmyturtles at length, it is not perfect and I have some serious quibbles with it from a writing standpoint. My top 3:

Wai outing Pran and then Pran spending the whole episode apologizing to him. Nonsensical, infuriating, and the show didn’t do the work to make us understand Pran and Wai’s friendship enough to accept that. I still hate poor Jimmy's face to this day and I blame that on Aof.

Pat gets shot as the deus ex machina to resolve the Wai plot. Villain comes out of nowhere in the same episode, the whole situation is tonally discordant, no follow through and the injury is treated like he got a paper cut in the aftermath. It's just lazy writing. Honestly, send all of episode 9 to the trash heap.

Finale fake out. Aof undercut his own themes about the struggle of the closet and sublimation of your own needs in service of filial piety in order to play a prank on the audience. Dumb waste of half the finale’s run time that actively worked against the message he sought to deliver, and that ep 12 preview nearly ruined ep 11 for a lot of people. Luckily the second half of the finale was so strong it made up for it, but I maintain the fake out was a bad choice that I would definitely go back and change.

What are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people?

I am a meta girlie at heart so I am always most excited reading deep dives. I cannot possibly remember all the good shit I have read on Bad Buddy, but I'll give a shoutout to the BBS (gender neutral) girlies keeping the meta alive to this day @telomeke @ranchthoughts @dudeyuri @dimplesandfierceeyes @chickenstrangers @miscellar @grapejuicegay. I am always so excited when I see new posts about this show on my dash and I had a great time clowning with you all on OS2.

What are your favourite fanworks you've made?

I wasn't here when the show was airing so I actually don't have a deep library of my own meta for this show (not that made it onto tumblr, anyway). But one of the fun things about being in bl fandom is we get to make connections across the shows we're all watching, so I'll give a shoutout to this post I did drawing a line between Pran and Jae Won of The Eighth Sense.

It's gotta be Same Page? by Tilly Birds. It's not actually played in the show, but Pat briefly references it when he's teasing Pran in their final scene together, and y'all, look at these lyrics:

Heyo, Lady Oscar! I'm excited to see what you have to share! I'll do a separate ask for each character (six in total), to keep things simple.

So for this first ask... well, I have to start with Kuvira, of course~

Okay! Let’s do the thing starting with my main girl, Kuvira. *cracks knuckles*

1. Sexuality headcanon 

I've been headcanoning Kuvira as bisexual since I began writing fanfics about her. I personally don't see Baatar Jr. as a beard in their relationship because she seemed to sincerely care about him in canon (until she didn't, lol!) I also don't buy the comphet argument because IMHO, it doesn't fit her personality. I think she's demiromantic, and specifically with Asami and Baatar Jr. I can see her as sapiosexual. She surrounded herself with three intelligent people in the likes of Baatar Jr, Varrick and Zhu Li (and a token himbo, Bolin) on her inner circle so I believe she has a thing for intelligence. Fandom usually headcanons her as a top or dom but I see her more of a switch, especially with Asami and Korra, and between them it's pretty much an endless battle for dominance in the bedroom. 😏

I also lowkey ship her with Mako who I also headcanon as bi so it’s a Bi4Bi scenario, and in this case she’s more of a top because I do agree with the headcanon that Mako is more of a bottom. Fun fact: her voice actress Zelda Williams is bi, as it is Janet Varney, Korra’s VA.  

2. OTP

Oooh, this is a tough one because although OTP stands for “One True Pairing” I ship her pretty much equally with both Asami and Korra. With Korra, I indulge in the angsty, dramatic side of things. They have so many parallels that are ingrained in canon that it makes for an interesting exercise to explore the ways they resemble each other and in the ways their differences serve to complement and balance each other. It’s basically a lot of “the sunshine who can kill you and the badass who can kill you” relationship meme with these two. 🤣

With Asami I play on “what if” canon divergence scenarios which make for more lighthearted and flirty situations. They make for such an amazing power couple that is just too darned good. Plus their sexual chemistry is off the roof, a “can’t keep their hands off each other” kind of chemistry that's way too much fun. 😉

3. BROTP

Although he's the romantic interest in canon, I headcanon Junior as more of a second in command/partner in crime than as significant other material and they’re very much BROTP in my stories. Jinora is my other candidate as BROTP for Kuvira in a Republic City setting because Kuvira is a jock/dancer/soldier who is also cunning, smart, and well versed in strategy,  so I can see her bonding with Jinora over books and history. And of course, my beloved Lin Beifong and Kuvira would bond by swapping stories and gossip about Suyin, and boy I bet they both have a lot to talk about Su. I think they would realize they have more in common than they think since they’re both the type to bottle up their emotions and to put their work before everything else, and they both wanted to impress their maternal figures. Lin would be an excellent mentor and friend for Kuvira, since Lin won't take crap from anyone so shr would keep Kuvira in the straight and narrow with her no nonsense attitude.

4. NOTP

I basically don’t ship her with any of the Beifongs but the big NOTP for me is Suyin. I just can’t shake the mentor/protege relationship off my mind to see them even remotely romantic. From an objective standpoint, I can see the appeal with all their drama but it's a big nope for me.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head?

She’s a sleepwalker. Her childhood trauma manifested in sleepwalking which was pretty severe during her first years with the Beifongs but she grew out if it gradually as she grew up. Following the events of Book 4 and Ruins of the Empire which ends with her in house arrest, her sleepwalking came back but not as bad as when she was a child, which it’s fortunate because I can’t imagine the mess she would leave behind while bending in her sleep. 😱

6: favorite line from this character 

"I owe the Avatar my life. Her power is beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve. I'll accept  whatever punishment the world sees fit”. 

This is from The Last Stand. Although the entire scene with Korra and Kuvira in the Spirit World is amazing since we get to witness Kuvira’s emotional breakdown, it's in her surrender that we see what we can consider the beginning of her path toward redemption, meaning that her story is not over yet. 

7. One way in which I relate to this character 

We're both familiarized with military service and the concept of discipline and service to the nation since I also served. I also relate in the need to prove ourselves, something that is evident in the way she ends up emulating her mentor Suyin and in having strained relationships with siblings, like the one she had with Opal. Come to think of it, having strained relationships with siblings seems like a very Beifong thing to do. 🤔

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character

The whole having her foster brother end up as her fiancee thing is kinda weird so I totally get Opal when she was all weirded out with the news of their engagement.

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

Both! 🤣

When I saw Sif I made this face. 😏 Wow the way they delayed Adult! Loki reveal for dramatic effect. And when I saw him I made this face 😩 and giggled like a schoolgirl. Hnnng I can’t handle Sifki in the same frame they’re too fine. Ok shut up simp.

ZOOM IN ON FRIGGA AT “FIRSTBORN” Obviously they just wanted to show his mom, and they may not have known Hela would be Odin’s daughter when making Thor, but fuck it is funny in hindsight.

Heimdall told Loki he wasn’t dressed warm enough the foreshadowing. WHEN BIFROST ACTIVATED TO GO TO JOTUNHEIM LOKI GOT ZAPPED FIRST. Where are the frost giants? *camera pans to Loki* there is SO much foreshadowing in this scene, also to Loki being a backstabbing little bitchsicle

Loki’s personality and character voice has been the same for 12 years stop complaining antis. Also thank Tom for that!

Loki should have played off “run back home, little princess” as Laufey referring to them, not Thor. Maybe chaos wouldn’t ensue. Thor you are a rambunctious irresponsible nightmare. You make Loki look cool and calculated, which they are, unless they’re having a psychotic break. Loki really would be and was a better ruler.

While that scene is heartbreaking, Loki and the frost giant looking at each other in confusion will never not be funny

I like this Thor better. He got too goofy and himbo later. He’s a golden retriever, but a jumpy, bitey golden retriever that tries to pick up sticks that are too big and get it into danger.

Loki was so scared this whole movie. His face is just…filled with dread half the time poor kitten

The love of Thor’s life during Thor: doing fancy science experiments, hanging with her friends, living her best nerd life. The love of Loki’s life during Thor: watches people die gruesome deaths, chokes on ash from supervolcano, narrowly avoids getting sucked into black hole, nearly drowns in mega tsunami, almost gets incinerated by nuke.

Until Sylvie, only Darcy could match Loki’s sheer level of chaos gremlin

Stop punching for 3 seconds Thor or I swear to god I’m gonna punch my television

“Thor is reckless and dangerous” you’re one to talk, Loki

The way Sif says Loki’s name, the way she reaches out to him first, as if she knows her sway on him…hmmm. Fandral jumping to defend Loki as if he himself has been offended….hmmmm.

“Am I cursed” thank you I will be crying though the whole scene. The way he tries to stay collected and just loses his shit…(I actually did cry and had to cut myself a slice of cake)

“Why do you twist my words” he has BPD Odin, that’s your fault

Thor: ANOTHER. Jane: no smashing, unless you’re smashing me

There is such a marked difference in how Loki acts after finding out he’s Jotun, down to the shaky way Tom delivers his lines. Loki is trying to put on this mask of grandeur and poise, when he’s so clearly…broken. How do I reach through the screen and tell him I love him? Loki is king, what he’s wanted forever, and he can’t even enjoy it. He is absolutely devastated. FuCK. But also, he’s having cynical fun with it. He’s had a terrible day, he’s done with everyone’s bullshit, and he’s decided to do whatever he fucking wants

He’s decided to become what everyone wanted from him…He found out he’s Jotun, and he wants to purge that from history and become someone he could never be…

He and Sif soooooo obviously have history, like how did I miss this? There also may be a bit of subtext with Fandral… Loki my Bi king

Also they are so androgynously beautiful this movie, Loki my genderfluid queen

Loki’s only real friend is his mother. Unfortunately, I relate.

Jane and Thor are a better fit than I remember. They’re both impulsive, adventurous, but she mellows him out and is his voice of reason. He brings her out of her shell, keeps her life exciting.

Thor is kinda cute, but too manly for me. My type is tomboys and femboys and everything in between.

I feel like Loki, yelling at Thor through the tv to calm the fuck down and stop hitting people and just sit his ass down and make a fucking plan. Thor and his hammer I swear to god. Maybe if you calmed tf down, you’d be worthy again, you hotheaded arrogant fool

Loki and Mjolnir. The way he was frustrated, then angry, then heartbroken, but never hopeful. He knew he was never gonna pick that hammer up, but he still tried and failed. He looked like he was gonna yell, then looked like he was gonna cry…baby baby nooo

I’m really just Loki lite. Or Loki is me on a really bad day. Like when it’s 4:am and I’m considering murdering my grandmother. I’ll be like…jeez, am I really that much like Loki? He does some really fucked up stuff. Then I realize that if I was in the same situation, I would do the exact same thing. Psychologically, we are nearly identical. I also have the same gender, sexuality, skin, hair and eye color. I may be a variant, send help.

Marry me Lady Sif

Not Loki showing empathy…no one tell that corner of the fandom that idolizes his worst self and thinks he’s nothing but a cold hearted self obsessed psychopath. Did anyone really think that Robot punch was gonna kill Thor? The hulk hits harder than that. Loki was going easy on him. He does care, somewhere deep in his whole…mess. He never truly wanted to kill Thor, he just thought he did. I don’t think he could have gone through with it either. If he did, killing Thor might have killed him too. Look up splitting in bpd, and you’ll get it.

Loki’s su!c!de attempt genuinely made me cry, especially because I know he survives actual physical and psychological torture afterwards, and does things that likely haunt him forever. I wish I could tell him that a few years down the line, he will know his family and everyone in Asgard pitied him, loved him, mourned him, and in another timeline he will meet someone who will make him feel understood and validated and seen the way he thought impossible. It’s also making me worry about Sylvie attempting the same next season because…Loki and Sylvie are cut from the same cloth and as they said, they truly have been where she is now and felt what she feels.

Hi! What are your thoughts on the first two Domina episodes?

i'm liking the season so far! it's bringing ALL the messy drama and beautiful costumes that i loved in s1, and i love that it feels like even more of an ensemble show now that the kids are older and we're getting to see more of them, especially marcella and the antonias who were mostly background characters in s1. the downside is that there isn't enough time for every character - my beloved julia was barely in these two episodes, but hopefully she'll have time to shine later in the season.

my beloved iullus continues to be rome's #1 himbo and i love that for him and for julia and for me <3 my beloved octavia continues to slay every scene she's in, and i feel like this season has been more equitable in the julian vs. claudian conflict, which makes me happy. my impression in s1 was that they were trying to sell livia as our righteous girlboss heroine whose detractors are all villainous, and correspondingly livia's kids as victims and octavia's as bullies, whereas this season shows livia in a more neutral light and offers a lot of sympathy to the victims of her ambitions (octavia's grief for marcellus, gemina's whole storyline). i think that since last season ended with livia's moral tipping point (killing marcellus), that naturally allows the narrative in this season to acknowledge and lean into her moral ambiguity and to really question whether her ends justify her means, which is great. of course, it could just be that i was in a different frame of mind when i watched s1 several years ago rather than an actual change in the show, so take this point of comparison with a grain of salt!

speaking of gemina, so far i quite like that storyline! i was expecting her to be treated by the narrative as an object in the way of livia's goals and for us to never see her again after she was sold in ep1, so i was very pleasantly surprised when she cropped up again and when ep2 focused on her emotions rather than just making her a sexy lamp for augustus to fuck. our elite protagonists talk a big game about Rome and The Republic but don't actually give a shit about the people who live there, and gemina's storyline is a good way to counteract the propaganda the main characters spout and to show how lower classes and conquered peoples are harmed by the roman elite. i'm really intrigued to see where her storyline goes, especially now that scribonia is involved, but i remember that (imo) s1 had an appalling lack of empathy for scribonia's shitty treatment by augustus and just painted her as a high school mean girl, so i'm also a little nervous to see what they do with this duo lmao

marcella is also a high school mean girl so far, which is disappointing but not surprising given her few scenes in s1. i would love for them to allow her more depth later on, but i'm not sure how likely that is (and, i mean, fair play if they want to show that the richest kids in rome are plain ol spoiled brats and there's nothing deeper to it haha). i guess that's how i'd sum up my main problem with s1, that it fell into the trap of pitting women against each other in a patriarchal society where men are the ones oppressing them. s2 does this too, but so far it's been in a way that seems more self-aware and seems to be putting the blame more on the patriarchy than on the women fighting and hurting each other for power (livia's rant to antonia about being a woman in rome comes to mind), so we will see!

oh, the last thing i wanted to mention is how funny this show is at times! i really love when period dramas let themselves be funny rather than taking themselves super seriously all the time and acting like people in ye olden days never swore or made jokes.

Ted Lasso for the fandom asks ❤️

the character i least understand: ooh this is a hard one!! i genuinely feel that most of the characters are so fleshed out and fascinating that i can understand them to some extent. maybe i'll have to go with james tartt sr. bc i have no interest in attempting to understand him.

interactions i enjoyed the most: soooo many!! keeley and rebecca is a perennial fave bc i see so much of my real-life friendships in theirs, and then of course jamie and roy is a genuine delight whether i choose to interpret them platonically or romantically. specific interactions i loved were ted's "be a goldfish" advice to sam, the whole team fixing sam's restaurant, any background jamie & sam moment, the jamie teaching roy to ride a bike scene, the Boot Room Breakdown, and any Team Himbo moment. also jamie and his mum (& simon!) is, probably, one of the unexpected absolute HIGHLIGHTS of season 3. give me more of them now.

the character who scares me the most: james tartt sr. i don't think this needs to be explained. rupert doesn't really scare me, but the general type of person that his character is based on, and how often those people in real life are allowed to get away with the behaviors he exhibits in the show, certainly does.

the character who is mostly like me: oh gosh! this is a tricky one. i think i have a bit of various characters in me -- i am very much like ted in that i use humor/positivity as a shield against, um. worse emotions. i also deeply relate to keeley in regards to her specific brand of agency; she's powerful yet silly and that's so important to me bc that IS me. and then sam, my beloved. i see a lot of my own general outlook on life in him, and i also get him so hard in the scenes where he doesn't handle his emotions too well and just. breaks down. soooo relatable ! (ditto for jamie's boot room breakdown).

hottest looks character: is this a contest? if so, keeley and jamie are WINNING. the competition does not even EXIST.

one thing i dislike about my fave character: jamie my love, the you of s1 will forever and always be a twat. i adore that boy but good god, his early behavior was horrible, particularly towards sam. insert lookhowfartheyvecome.png.

one thing i like about my hated character: technically my most hated character is james tartt sr. but i have nothing good to say about him so. rupert: your darth vader pinterest inspo board will always be fascinating to me.

a death that left me indifferent: thankfully this is not that kind of show! i guess rebecca's dad's death didn't really affect me bc we didn't ever know him -- but god, rebecca herself destroyed me in that ep.

a character i wish died but didn’t: james tartt sr. i maintain that it would have been fascinating if jamie had received news his dad had died just before they played man city, kicking off his mental spiral bc do i have to plan a funeral for him? does he deserve that? do i deserve that? and essentially grappling with the fact that he isn't sure exactly what he should feel in regards to his father's death. ofc this would have ended with a rejection of the 'forgive him <3' mentality and allowed jamie to fully and truly just. let go of his dad. forever. without guilt. (@ ted lasso writers room: LET ME IN!!! LET ME INNNNN!!!!!!)

my ship that never sailed: honestly? i know this fandom is very tied to its ships, and i get that -- i was truly rooting for keeley and roy to get back together, and i can see the appeal of royjamie or royjamiekeeley. HOWEVER. i am, in the end, grateful that the show prioritized its platonic relationships over its romantic ones. for me, platonic friendships/queerplatonic relationships are never given the attention or respect they deserve and i adore them. they're so much more fascinating to me! i appreciate that the show left most of its romantic/potentially romantic relationships ambiguously defined bc it gives us, as fans, the ability to interpret the characters and their dynamics how we choose.

As a weirdgirl myself I can truly attest to the fact that Tome Kurata is the modern weirdgirl's weirdgirl. (If you doubt my credentials, know that when startled I start singing opera, I am told that I've an "ungraceful lack of restraint when it comes to violence", regularly use Shakespearean language to retort or rebuff and once told a himbo I knew about the concept of A/B/O.) While she may not go around adopting alien dogs or taxidermying corpses together, she is undoubtedly an icon and a shining North Star to so many aspiring little freaky girls. In case you haven't noticed, no, he's not human, Poss is still coming up with a name for their species but he's basically... an elf with ✨glitter✨. He's got pointy ears, wolf ears, yes, he has 2 set of ears, if any of the nerds out there want I can ask him about it I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with a detailed and logical way to describe why he has 4 ears. Either way he can hide it when he wants to look human! By the way he can turn himself into a giant wolf! (no, he's not a werewolf!) He likes to have fun, sleep around and not have to worry about anything. The easiest place to spot him would probably at some party, a brothel too... Can he drink? Can he use drugs? Can he have sex? He's probably there. Alternatively he could just be at a dog park petting every single canine he sees. Clearly a good boy! He's an empath, so he can feel the emotions people around him are feeling and he can alter those emotions a bit, if he wants to thought he seems to not abuse that power. Feral's also a pacifist and hates any kind of violence and agrees that there are way better ways to solve things that don't include h*micide. Hating violence doesn't mean he won't use it if necessary, but that's pretty much a last resort situation He's a flirt, loves to play around and mess with people, he's very positive and likes to help others, also pretty much a social butterfly. He care a lot about women... maybe a little too much, though... and has a really big heart in general!

Feral (full name Faervalor) is basically a super soldier made from intense magic forced upon the fetus in development, a side effect of this procedure is he will become intensely loyal to one person - though he has control over choosing who that person is. He was set to be executed as an infant, as his birth was followed by the trial of the man who ran the experiments. But one of the royal families who took part in the attack decided to adopt him and raise him within their kingdom, taking a temporary exile (in the human world - their actual world is technically another planet. Portals connect it to the human world, but overall there’s little interaction or overlap except for royalty. The human world access/knowledge it exists is an elite luxury for them.) as a compromise among the other royal families for ‘taking in a fugitive’. Feral decided upon reaching adulthood, despite being raised in a warrior-focused empire, to become a staunch pacifist, and was temporarily banished by his royal family and taken in by the heir of the same man who demanded the execution of the researcher who created Feral and all Feral’s half siblings. Now Feral lives as the sometimes bodyguard-sometimes friend-sometimes sugar baby of the prince. The prince and Feral have a playful frenemies relationship, but he funds Feral’s animal sanctuary and Feral would die for him and they are battle buddies (though Feral will never kill, a rule of his that the prince respects and will never order him to do). Feral has tied his instinctive loyalty to this prince. Interests wise he likes drugs, partying, sex, and dogs. He is a party-goer with gym bro and himbo energy, but he has the supernatural ability of empathy (specifically, he can sense emotions of people around him, this ability is enhanced by water - and if he’s in a body of water with someone, he can transfer emotions to them/manipulate their emotions). He is also NOT a werewolf, he is an immortal elf-like species whose specific lineage is descended from a wolf god. Hence why he has wolf traits in his regular form (meaning how he looks normally and isn’t disguising himself as human), and can turn into a giant wolf (not technically shapeshifting…but that would be a bit complicated to explain). He is 6’6 when human passing, theoretically taller in ‘reality’ (the human disguise is part shapeshifting, part ‘glamour’ - like the kind most people associate with fairies) by a few inches. He has black hair (the description I gave Pattie for hairstyle was “think goth pomeranian”), brown skin, and his eyes are a golden-amber color. He's bisexual but more attracted to feminine traits than masculine traits.

About the sketch: It was really fun to make! I don't usually draw muscular people, so drawing a different body type than the one in my comfort zone was really nice! Poss helped me providing references... even though he's not the best at describing things... but what matters is that we found a way for both of us to understand each other and the sketch ended up looking like Feral! Or so he said, he could be lying.

>:)))) I would love to rant about my OC and OC x Canon Ship! I don't really have a good ship name for them yet, other than just mashing their names together but it feels or sounds too much like other ships.

Amy is my oc and my ship for her is with Lloyd (she's barely a year older than him). Basics for Amy: she was a child soldier biologicially engineered and trained to be an assassin (living weapon trope my beloved), she joined the ninja in the pilots (they weren't sure how old she was but didn't want to question master wu, and she's pretty tall for her age). She's very stoic and has a pretty hard shell (at first) because she was trained that emotions were a weakness and there's no room for weakness.

Onto her and Lloyd: Since they were both the youngest on the team and are both chaotic lil shits, they became good friends very fast. When she had her first official birthday, she and Lloyd made friendship bracelets- Amy will punch anyone that comments on it. They also wear the bracelets for forever even after they grow up, the bracelets become good luck tokens for each other. When they got older (they were both 14/15 by Season 4), they developed crushes on each other, dated secretly until Season 5, and managed to keep their relationship from the public until my fanseason for Amy (takes place between Season 7 and Season 8). Their relationship is built on friendship so they act like chaotic besties.

"scary powerful lady falls in love with sweet himbo that's too stupid to be scared of her but drinks enough respect women juice to be proud and supportive of everything she does" ship trope MY BELOVED, it sums Amy and Lloyd up quite a bit (though it does go both ways). but also "both of them will become scary and raise hell if you hurt the other one, seriously you're dead already." also "two broken people that think they're unlovable and monsters find sanctuary in each other" is another lovely one for them.

They're both on the Aro and Ace spectrums! Amy is GrayAroAce and Lloyd is Ace and DemiRomantic <3. They'll fight anyone that says they're relationship is "basically straight" or that both of them "need to be fixed". Amy will make sure you taste her metal fist :)

Lloyd (and the others of course) is one of the reasons Amy learned to open up and start allowing herself to have and feel emotions. She still has a hard time opening up, but finds it's really easy with Lloyd because he's so open about his feelings with her. He has a hard time feeling loved and feeling like he's not an annoyance or a burden- Amy always tells him some variation of "If there's somebody that doesn't think you're worth it- you don't deserve them, you dumbass." She lovingly calls him dumbass a lot <3.

Like many ninjago characters, Amy dies at the end of her season, but comes back a season later- but she comes back very different with the left side of her body covered in burn scars, her left arm gone and replaced with a metal one, and PTSD from the experience. She comes back in the second to last episode of Season 8- and when she finds out what happened while she was gone she's ready to go on a rampage. The rampage has to wait though because Lloyd needs cuddles first, she asked him, "Do you need cuddles or do you need violence [done to Harumi]?" and he just really needed cuddles.

It's a horrible and traumatic roller coaster for both of them and then, finally after Season 10, they have peace and can finally breathe. They get married, the others force them to take a three month vacation (they get a beach house rental all to themselves), and it's ok for a while.

After my fanseason and Season 9 they're both super clingly with each other because it feels like the universe is constantly trying to rip them apart and every time they get separated something bad happens to one or both of them. So they make as much physical contact as possible (especially on missions), and both will get really anxious if they're separated :). And of course they're extra protective of each other.

Of course both of them get plenty of moments where the other is injured/captured/thought dead and THEY GO BERSERK. One of my favorite tropes ever >:))).

Cute fluffly bit: after Amy comes back, Lloyd starts making terrible arm/hand puns all the time. Amy pretends to hate it but secretly loves it. But whenever he asks "can you give me a hand here?" asking for help, she gets back at him by just tossing her metal arm to him and walking away.

3.5/5 - he’s so funny oh my god. The way he talks is absolutely hilarious like I half expect him to just yell at the top of his lungs but he has such a low quiet voice like dude just go feral I know you want to. He’s so weird too, it’s so funny to me that they just made him into some weirdo really hellbent on being a vigilante. Not my favorite but god he’s funny

4/5 - Love this guy!!! He’s really fun but also clearly heartfelt and passionate. I love that he’s kind of a himbo, but has good intentions at all times. I like that they took on a more brotherly role with his character in this version, especially since he is an adult, it feels really natural. Also his Brooklyn accent is great, he’s just great.

5/5 - MY ENTIRE SON!!!!! Okay look I love him, he’s such a damn good character. I think he perfectly balanced out the friendship with the turtles, as well as the same amateur vigilante the others had, while also being able to be the same age as the turtles and have it all come together very nicely. He has that great dorky personality and he’s plenty skilled even without the turtles help. I also think he just has that really big heart that gets overlooked a lot, but he really does care about his friends and you can tell. He’s just the perfect Casey in my eyes I will not apologize for this :)

3/5 - I LOVE HERRR but I think as a Casey Jones, she’s not the best one per say. I love that she retains the crazy, overzealous energy as the 80s version, and the twist to make her a member of the Foot was really fun and interesting, I didn’t see it coming! I also like that she does have actual interpersonal conflict about her morality, and you get the feeling that she’s a good person in a weird position potentially because that’s how she was raised. But since we go the whole series not knowing she’s Casey, and a lot of the core elements of Casey Jones is lost on her because of that, I don’t think she’s the best Casey Jones. But as a character? She’s wonderful and I adore her!!

4/5 - MY BELOVED BOY!!!!!!!! HAVE I EVER MENTIONED HOW MUCH I ADORE HIMMM!!!! So like, I think this Casey has a lot of the same shortcomings as Cassandra, in that the role being played isn’t as reminiscent of past Casey Jones versions. BUT this version is explicitly Casey Jones in the entire movie, and a lot of what he does is very similar to the versions before him (not that he needs to be but yk). He’s very heartfelt and emotion driven like the others, but he’s far from a pushover and isn’t afraid to snap if he needs to. I think it’s interesting that they flipped the older brother relationship 2k3 had with the turtles by making Casey the younger person in the situation who looks up to the turtles, which hasn’t been done in the series yet. But, like all Casey Jones before him, he fits in perfectly with the turtles, and is a really great character that I adored. I also like how they fit the hockey player vibe into his design, that was really fun :)

In short!!! I love all Casey Jones and they’re all my beloved little guys :)
