Happy National Boyfriend Day to all of my current favorite hockey boys🎉💜. Every year, I highlight my favorite band members (I used to post about this on insta but I stopped and ya girl has never had a boyfriend) on this day and since I’m a full time hockey clown, I’m going to highlight hockey players. (I know my chances of actually dating a hockey boy is extremely unlikely but it’s fun to talk about them). In no particular order, here’s a current list of hockey boys running around rent free in my head and this is subject to change at any moment:

-Tyson Jost (curly haired cutie who drinks respects women juice, is pro-BLM and is a Cup winner in my heart. I hope he succeeds in Minnesota)

-Cale Makar (Conn Smyth and Norris winning, Cup champion, fellow Scorpio, humble icon)

-Mikko Rantanen (my sweet Finnish Cup champion prince, fellow Scorpio)

-JT Compher (a ginger cutie who moved in during the Avs Cup run)

-Andre Burakovsky (2x time Cup winner, will be missed while he starts a new chapter in Seattle, will forever look cute with puppies and babies)

-Tyler Seguin (this cutie is the reason why I love hockey so much)

-Brock Boeser (Mr. Sensitive, Prince Charming. he’s been through a lot in life but still shows humbleness and I admire him so much for that)

-Quinn Hughes (he moved back in after leaving for a while. I think napping together would be a vibe)

-Anthony Beauvillier (bark bark cutie with eyes that are so blue, you could drown in them)

-Mathieu Joseph (2 time Stanley Cup winner who’s Black, I wish him the best in Ottawa)

-Colton Parayko (gentle giant with a college degree and looks great in glasses)

-Jakob Chychrun (drinks anti-racism juice and his house is so nice)

-Pierre-Luc Dubois (a cute fridge who’s also a dog dad and is anti-trump)

-Jacob Markstrom (I know he’s going to be a father soon but this is my emotional support goalie and I miss him in Vancouver)

-Mitch Marner (I neglect him because of one of his teammates but he is a Directioner and dog dad so I’m here for him)

for this girl's night, jt had been elected dd. it was always one of your partners who was stuck driving all of you home after a long night of drinking, and this week, it was jt's turn.

you and jt weren't "a thing" but you did all the couple-y things, so he was roped into driving you all home.

he watched you from the table you had saved, nursing his glass of diet coke, as you and your friends danced together on the dance floor. you were 3 drinks in and on your way to a bad hangover in the morning.

you stumbled back over to your table, and almost faceplanted on the ground a few times but managed to catch yourself, "hi, you havin' fun?" he asked, a smile on his face as he sat you down in a chair and poured you a glass of water. you nodded, "that's good."

after a long night, jt dropped each girl at home. when it was finally time to drop you off at home, he looked over into the passenger seat and saw you conked out.

he parked in front of your apartment complex and got you out safely and into your apartment. you slowly started to wake up and were becoming more aware of your surroundings.

you hummed, "jim?" you called out. it was an inside joke you had with him and he just went with it.

"yeah?"

"i love you." you blurted out.

he froze, trying to figure out how to respond, "tell me when you're sober."

"all right, i will." you nodded, determined, before turning on your side and falling back asleep. he chuckled, making sure you had a glass of water on your bedside and some advil, and made his way down to his car and drove home.

the next morning, your head hurt like a buttcheek on a stick, but the one thing clear in your mind (out of all things) were the three words you had told to jt.

you also remember what he told you, so you blindly reached over onto your nightstand, and let out a groan when the brightness shined on your face.

you turned down the brightness before clicking on jt's contact and holding the phone to your ear, "hello?"

"hey." you winced at how awkward your voice sounded.

"she lives." he joked.

"har har." you playfully rolled your eyes.

you could tell he was hesitating before he finally asked the question he had been waiting to ask, "about last night..."

"i wasn't lying when i told you that i loved you. i meant it." you told him.

"you do?" he asked.

"i do." you nodded.

"good, cause i feel the same way."

"i don't think this is a conversation we should be having over the phone." you laughed.

"right. i'm coming over right now." you could hear his keys jingling, "see you soon."

"see you soon, jim."

ahhhh Emmie yes i love this! Here's what I think:

JT has been waiting for this day since the moment he proposed to you.

He's a bit of a nervous wreck while getting ready with all of his boys - I'm going to say that Josty is in there because I make the rules - but they all remind him that nerves are natural and that you're probably feeling the same way.

Josty reminds him particularly that he's never seen two people more in love, and considering how much time he spends around the two of you, JT knows he's not just saying it for the sake of it.

By the time he's standing at the altar waiting for you (I'm going with a church wedding, as I've only ever been to church weddings), he's massively calmed down, to a stage where he's just massively excited to see you.

And then the wedding march starts, and he sees you for the first time.

JT sheds a few tears. He's not ashamed of it - and at least it wasn't ugly crying - but as you walk up towards him he's just so unbelievable happy. The ceremony flashes by, JT so distracted by watching your face, your smile, but everything goes so smoothly and then he's walking back down the aisle with you. His spouse.

The kisses that you share in the car on the way to the reception venue are nowhere near as chaste as the one in the church was, but that's for only you to know.

Neither of you stop smiling during the reception - the first dance, cutting the cake, the speeches, everything is perfect, and knowing that you get to spend the rest of your life with him and he with you? It's the cherry on top of the cake.
