Do-Over (supercorp ficlet, 100th episode angst, no plot impact after)
Rao, I can’t believe we did it.
She had nearly given up, after the last timeline - she could still feel the sting of kryptonite in her veins, the harrowing image in her mind of the green stone in Lena’s chest, as she refused to fight her. “Then you will die screaming.”
But the odds of another world like that - where Lena used 5th dimensional magic, blocking Mxy out - was low. So after Kara caught her breath and shook off her nerves, they decided to give it another few goes.
They hit it in the very next shot. Kara had decided to jump forward again, meeting Lena just after an uncomfortable incident in the elevator to Sam’s apartment - “I can never trust her again” - and giving her the truth. And Lena had been pissed, at first. But over the course of the timeline, she thawed. Kara and Mxy found themselves watching a movie night, Kara’s head in Lena’s lap as Lena gently scritched the blonde’s hair, Kara dozing off in the middle of the second Pirates of the Caribbean.
“This is it,” Kara said, delighted as she turned back to Mxy. “She doesn’t hate me! No one died! This is it-”
But Kara cut off suddenly, watching the screen with widening eyes, as a sheepish and fond confession fell from Lena’s lips. And she found herself a voyeur to her own dreams, watching herself as this other Kara sat up, cheeks turning a bright pink with her own confession, before the two women’s lips gently met.
“Turn it off,” Kara said, jumping off the couch and turning away from the television. “Turn it off, Mxy.” “But this-” Mxy stuttered, confused. “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”
Yes, Kara thought to herself, overwhelming anguish ripping through her body. Because it was everything. Everything that could’ve and should’ve happened.
Had she not been such a fool.
It was a misguided endeavor, she realized now. She could’ve ignored her misgivings, for a time anyway. Embrace a reality where she and Lena were friends again, where she had never hurt her, or at least not driven her so far.
But the pit of nausea in Kara’s stomach grew. Because the idea of being in Lena’s arms, being in her bed, feeling her wanting body, without Lena ever knowing what Kara had done, suddenly felt anathema. It wouldn’t be real. It would simply be Kara taking advantage of her again, far worse than before.
“I’m keeping the real timeline,” Kara said brokenly. “I can’t… I can’t run from this. I- I don’t know how I’m going to fix this. But I can’t undo my mistakes like this.”
Mxy’s eyes gentled at the turned-away kryptonian, holding back a sigh of relief as he snapped his fingers, the projector and reels of film and popcorn dissipating back to his dimension. It was ironic, really, that all of his fake timelines had only made the kryptonian dig in her heels, eager to find something that actually worked. But the one real timeline he had them glimpse - back on Earth-413, before the Crisis - was the one that led to her finally accepting that she couldn’t change time.
Which was great, because neither could he.
Kara took a deep, steadying breath, turning back to Mxy. “I know it didn’t turn out the way we expected,” Kara said, handing back Mxy’s recorder with his backwards-recorded name. “But you still helped me, Mxy. Now I know the only way out is through.”
The kryptonian stood - sad, but hopeful again - and Mxy gave a small smile. As with so much of the mystery of the universe, he couldn’t say how or when Kara and Lena would find their way. He only knew that they would.
“It’s true what you said, Kara,” Mxy said, thinking of the words the woman in front of him had said, not all that long ago. That’s all this endeavor was, really, returning that favor. “Magic can’t be forced. It has to be found.” And it will.

I was working on what turned into a small essay about Romana but got briefly distracted by working out a Gallifreyan/Earth conversion rate. Figured that could be it's own post.
Converting Gallifreyan years to Earth years is annoying. But, we know the Doctor left Gallifrey 673 Gallifreyan years before the events of Lungbarrow, and SLEEPY (set not too long beforehand) states that the Doctor is 1,000 Earth years old. In The Tomb of the Cybermen, the Doctor claims to be 450 Earth years old and saying he has been travelling for around then 20 years seems reasonable (this is very much guesswork, but whatever). So that means 673 Gallifreyan years is 570 Earth years, or one Earth year is about 1.18 Gallifreyan years.
Also if you're curious, I ran some numbers and consider the Doctor (as currently played by Ncuti Gatwa) to be about 3,600 Earth years or 4,300 Gallifreyan years old
Here's the breakdown. This is, uh... based on canonical statements (mostly from Tomb of the Cybermen, The Ultimate Treasure, SLEEPY, Escape Velocity, Orbis, The Impossible Astronaut, and The Day of the Doctor, Tales of Trenzalore, The Wedding of River Song, The Pilot,). Also I'm not counting time spent in stasis (e.g., Ghost Walk) or in time loops (e.g., Heaven Sent).
1st Doc: 450 Earth / 531 Gallifrey
2nd Doc: 20 Earth / 24 Gallifrey
3rd Doc: 20 Earth / 24 Gallifrey
4th Doc: 350 Earth / 413 Gallifrey
5th Doc: 10 Earth / 12 Gallifrey
6th Doc: 150 Earth / 177 Gallifrey
7th Doc: 25 Earth / 30 Gallifrey
8th Doc: 800 Earth / 944 Gallifrey
War Doc: 300 Earth / 354 Gallifrey
9th Doc: 200 Earth / 236 Gallifrey
10th Doc: 6 Earth / 7 Gallifrey
11th Doc: 1200 Earth / 1416 Gallifrey
12th Doc: 100 Earth / 118 Gallifrey
13th Doc: 30 Earth / 35 Gallifrey
14th Doc: doesn't count
15th: Doc: Maybe a year or two so far
(also if you read my other post, you'll see I got some math wrong over there. Oops. I feel like all of my points still stand though).

It's May 16th! The day that Spares was uploaded on YouTube! So if you couldn't tell, I have decided to draw my Self inserts celebrating respective F/O's birthday. The others will follow this trend as well, meaning my secondary F/O's will get some love too!
So keep your eyes peeled for:
June 23rd (When "Meet the Medic" was released)
September 27th (which is what I decided for Elliott's birthday. Which is the 5th day of fall technically)
October 2nd (The Day that "Party Animal" aired, you know, the episode where they celebrated Flippy's birthday)
April 13th (which is Callie Day as well 413.)
So yeah! I might do some for my birthday, which is soon to
Art is under cut cause I ramble
Tumblr media
Anna maybe went a little overboard with the cake...
I didn't shade this because when I saw how big this was going to be, my brain went: Nope. I'm not gonna finish this.
I thought of this when making:
Happy birthday, Teddy!
Wow...
YAY! CAKE!
That's a very... big cake...
Are you sure that we are able to eat all of this before it goes bad?
I HAVE NO IDEA! :D
I think since she is a baker, she used to making big cakes for occasion so she forgot that only her and him are probably going to celebrate his birthday. He still 100% deserves a lot of cake and kisses :))

Fan Chon Hoo in New York, #Day 23
This morning I helped out with the winterising event organised by the Gowanus Canal Conservancy. I met Dan Fethke before going to the lowlands nursery. Dan is a filmmaker and producer. He was explaining the Gowanus Canal area to me, and it reminded me of the industrial canal near Hackney Wick in London, which is dotted with workshops, warehouses, and artists' studios. It’s a charming area. GCC is a nonprofit organisation that focuses on environmental advocacy. This morning’s aim was to winterise the plants, which is to prepare the plants to better endure winter. We moved the plants off the pallets, grouped them by species, and created a layer of insulation by building mulch walls around them. It gets cold working outdoors, and one way to keep warm is by generating heat through moving and working. It was a really satisfying and productive day. I could see the Statue of Liberty from a distance as I hopped on the F train at the elevated Smith–Ninth Streets station.

Today is my last session with Nancy. It just dawned on me how quickly time flew past. I thought of the Toastmaster event last week and the expectation for most of us to be articulate, effective speakers; there should be programs to learn how to be better listeners too. And Nancy is a great listener and I’m grateful to have these sessions with her. Her attentive listening helped me to reflect on my time in NYC and learn about myself better.
Later in the afternoon I went to “The Librarian of Rikers,” a discussion with Dominican-American cartoonist Medar De la Cruz and the curator for history at Columbia University's archive, Thai Jones. The event took place at Casa Hispanica, Columbia University. Rikers Island is a prison island in the East River in the Bronx, like Roosevelt Island in the past, except that it is 413 acres, currently the largest jail in New York City and one of the world's largest correctional institutions. Medar’s illustrations of his experience working as a library assistant providing book cart services at Rikers Island won him the Pulitzer Prize this year. He worked at the Rikers Prison during the pandemic; he was focusing on getting books into people’s hands in a system that was severely understaffed. He also said that Rikers is one of the most Dominican places he’s ever been in; he’s never been around so many Dominican Americans in his life. Since he couldn’t use a camera, he had to rely on his memory to capture these experiences, and making cartoons was a way for him to process the world, especially the harsh reality and the mistreatments that are happening within the correctional institution.
The last activity of the day was to tune in to a Zoom session on “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI).”. The main speaker, Tiffany, introduced herself as a solutionist. I believe this introductory class catered to aspiring entrepreneurs or freelancers, as she consistently referred to everyone as "solopreneurs." Throughout the session, my Siri was activated several times whenever she mentioned the word "Siri." She was professing her love for ChatGPT by saying how awesome this technology is, and ChatGPT is her best friend. Then she went on to demonstrate how to get ChatGPT to make meal plans with dietary restrictions, design a syllabus for 5th graders, plan a marketing campaign, and create a skincare routine. Occasionally, a woman, who I believe works with Tiffany, would interject, emphasizing the importance of the use of AI tools to build a thriving business that our future generation can inherit.  She also mentioned that she holds a PhD in business administration and that the coaching class, which provides in-depth tutorials on AI tools, costs only $499.
I didn't learn anything new about AI, but I did learn that there are people out there who manipulate the anxiety of those who are new to this technology, encouraging them to unquestioningly embrace it or risk missing or losing out. I felt like I sat in on a live telemarketing program through a Zoom meeting.

A Growing Community and a Celebration...Haand Ceramics + The City of Burlington
The City of Burlington and Haand Ceramics announce a hand-painted line of commemorative plates celebrating the Burlington Carousel Festival!
Burlington’s Historic, hand carved Dentzel Carousel is treasured by our small community. Brought to City Park in 1948, the beauty and craftsmanship of the rideable work of art has created special memories for generations of residents (including me) and is very much a part of the city’s identity.
Another important part of Burlington’s identity was manufacturing (historically, textiles and hosiery), and while the life sciences industry may employ more residents these days, the remaining factory buildings throughout town are a constant reminder of that history.
Haand Ceramics is located in an old textile mill near Burlington’s downtown at the corner of Tucker and Maple Streets. The mill was originally the Willowbrook Hosiery Mill and is an ideal location for the pottery store and studio.
Haand was started in 2012 by Mark Warren and Chris Pence, friends who met in high school in Jacksonville, Florida. Mark had recently finished a two-year fellowship at Penland School of Craft in Bakersville, North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Chris had studied business and accounting in graduate school and left his role as a corporate accountant to start Haand, which was originally run out of a decrepit farmhouse with no potable water and mercurial electricity outside of Durham. As the business grew, they moved operations to a warehouse in Eli Whitney and in 2017, Mark and Chris moved the business to the hosiery mill on Tucker Street.
Today, they employ a team of 30 and supply pottery to restaurants and hotels worldwide. They sell locally from a showroom in the mill and through their website to homes all over the United States.
Haand makes over 75,000 pieces of handmade pottery per year in their small workshop! And…I’m excited to announce a new partnership between the City of Burlington and HAAND. Haand is making a commemorative dessert plate featuring an animal from the Dentzel Carousel’s menagerie in celebration of the 32nd Annual Carousel Festival. This year the featured animal is the tiger and they plan to feature a different animal each year for future Carousel Festivals. It’s a perfect marriage of the Carousel’s beautiful craftsmanship with the important role of manufacturing in Burlington.
“To have a publicly funded space like Burlington City Park is a rare and true gift to Alamance County. I know firsthand that this park is a perfect destination where I can bring my kid and we feel part of the local community.” stated Mark Warren.  “The Carousel itself is a work of art and craftsmanship, something to be appreciated on its own. I chose the tiger for our first commemorative plate because I’ve always found a childlike enjoyment in painting circus animals.”
Visitors to the Carousel Festival can enter a raffle to win a set of two of this year’s hand-painted porcelain plates by filling out a survey about ways to improve the Carousel Festival for future years.
A limited edition run of the hand-painted plates will be available for purchase at Haand’s showroom at 413 Tucker Street, or at  www.haand.us starting Friday, May 5th. Haand’s showroom is open Monday - Friday from 11am - 4pm, and Saturday from 12pm - 4pm. You can also visit them for a tour as part of Downtown Burlington’s Fourth Friday Art Walks on the Fourth Friday of each month, from 5:30 - 9:00 pm.  If you are local, this is a great experience and you’ll definitely leave with a piece of pottery…or 2!
Small to mid-size companies like Haand represent the majority of the Burlington’s firms and jobs and are truly the backbone of Burlington’s business community.  HAANDS business continues to grow and one of their newest collaborations includes a beautiful line of hand-blown glassware with Christopher Kerr-Ayer, and a collection of modern heirlooms curated by Vivian Howard, a North Carolinian chef and hospitality expert.
The 32nd Annual Burlington Carousel Festival will be held at Burlington City Park on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday from 10am-6pm with an evening concert featuring Crawford & Power and Ryan Perry from 6pm – 10pm and on Sunday, May 7 from noon-5pm. The Carousel Festival features live music and performances, an artisan market, food trucks and food vendors, a beer garden, an action-packed Kids Zone and free rides on the newly restored Carousel and other amusement rides that call City Park home. More information here!
To download the video of the hand painting process, more images of Haand ceramics, and their manufacturing process, as well as higher resolution images of the the tiger from Burlington’s Carousel, go to this link: https://we.tl/t-XNguMsNDdt.
I hope to see you there!

Could Medusa Kill Sun Wukong?
My previous article shows a possible astrological connection between the immortal-killing skull weapon of Yuebei Xing, the Monkey King's daughter, and the gorgon Medusa.
This made me think of an interesting question: Could Medusa kill Sun Wukong by turning him into stone? I think many people would agree this isn't possible considering that he's already stone. But I don't think other Journey to the West characters would fare too well.
I say this because, according to this insightful reddit post, the Dionysiaca (Gr: Διονυσιακά, 5th-century) shows that even the Greek god Dionysus considered her death stare dangerous enough to bring protection against it during his battle with Perseus:
The thyrsus was held up in his hand, and to defend his face he carried a diamond, the gem made stone in the showers of Zeus which protects against the stony glare of Medusa, that the baleful light of that destroying face may do him no harm (Rouse, 1940, vol. 3, p. 413).
So if Medusa could harm or even kill Greek gods, she could definitely do harm against various Journey to the West characters.

Prix de Lausanne Favorites!
So this year I got super into the Prix de Lausanne. Usually I just wait for the livestreams of the Finals to be released and watch that and then go back to earlier recordings if I feel like it. This year though I watched a bunch of the livestreams throughout the week. Suffice to say, I got very attached to this batch of dancers. It was such a strong year and with eleven eligible prizes instead of the usual seven or eight, I was so excited for the results.
The competition was full of so many beautiful dancers but throughout the week, here were my absolute favorites:
Seehyun Kim (309) (5th prize, Audience Favorite): All week she was my absolute favorite. She was so eye-catching in classes, her Cognition solo really moved me, and her Esmeralda Variation was so fierce and sharp!
Sangwon Park (320) (3rd Prize): I'm not a huge fan of the Coppélia Variation so that's why I was so shocked when I loved her performance of it so so much. Every single movement was so precise and polished and she had such a charisma about her performance that it really stood out. Not to mention, she was beautiful in Les Ombres du Temps, my favorite of the contemporary variation choices this year.
Millán de Benito (207) (1st prize tie): I won't lie, I was hoping for a female winner this year, only because there hasn't been one since Mackenzie Brown in 2019. But we got two male winners instead 😂 😂and de Benito had such a commanding presence as Philippe in Flames of Paris that he totally won me over and definitely deserved the win! Can't wait to follow his career over the coming years.
Sooha Park (103) (Finalist): Her 2nd Odalisque was so lovely; she managed to make a variation which can easily become too choppy so smooth and graceful. She had such a beautiful regal presence on stage and I am actually pretty bummed she didn't place. But either way, she's extremely talented and surely has a very bright future!
Other dancers I really loved: Amaury Zanete Pérez (421), Soo Min Kim (318), Ana Luisa Negrão (314), Haruka Tanabe (317), and Giuseppe Ventura (413)
P.S: this is just my personal opinion, every single one of the dancers was amazing anyways!

— every time karin is shown in the canon manga
In this post I will present every appearance of Karin Uzumaki in the canon manga of Naruto written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. This post is not directed towards Karin Uzumaki in a harmful or disrespectful way. This post is for information purposes only. I give my permission to use or share this list if you may consider it opportune.
I will not count the anime in this list because I consider it over exaggerated and beyond biased. The fillers take advantage of certain characters, especially female, for profitable purposes and are, on occasions, rude. I also want to share that I do not support the anime or the work of Studio Pierrot in regards to Naruto. You can find the stats of the other kunoichis here. Please read the information about the stats in the masterpost before checking them.
I will divide Karin’s role in the manga in 9 parts: 1. Karin in the background with no prominent dialogue, either in a memory or a flashback. 2. Karin with prominent dialogue. 3. Karin acting like a fan girl. 4. Karin using her sensory skills. 5. Karin biten by Sasuke. 6. Karin crying. 7. Karin saying Sasuke Uchiha's name. 8. Karin saving Sasuke Uchiha. 9. Karin saved by other characters.
Karin Uzumaki covers 68 chapters of the manga, from chapter 1 through chapter 700, which makes up for 9.71% of the total. This positions her in sixth place in the kunoichi statistics in the manga.
1st Sakura Haruno 2nd Ino Yamanaka 3rd Hinata Hyūga 4th Temari 5th Tenten 6th Karin Uzumaki
This leaves 632 chapters without her active presence.
Karin debuts in chapter 347 inside her corresponding hideout shortly after Sasuke kills Orochimaru . From this point and on this is her rate of appearance:
Tumblr media
1. Karin is shown in the background or does not talk in chapters: 356, 402, 409, 416, 450, 475, 579, 634, 650, 672, 673, 677
This represents 17.64% of her appearances in total.

This represents 19.11% of her appearances in total.
*408 Karin makes a remark saying Sasuke has gotten cooler *466 Karin is jealous because Mei Terumi wants to kiss Sasuke *574 Karin talks to Sasuke’s picture but I believe it is to distract the guards. I still find it weird that she has a picture of Sasuke only.
Tumblr media
4. Karin uses her sensory skills in battle and naturally in chapters: 347, 350, 351, 363, 365, 368, 371, 410, 414, 417, 453, 456, 457, 460, 461, 462, 463, 464, 466, 477, 478, 479, 480, 662, 663*, 664, 667

This represents 55.88% of her appearances in total.
Tumblr media
8. Karin saves Sasuke in chapters: 412, 415,
This represents 2.94% of her appearances in total.
Tumblr media
9. Karin is saved by Sasuke in chapters: 350, 415, 465

Part 2
-
"Welcome back to Flight 413 to Seoul. Please exit the plane one at a time and make sure to gather all of your belonging. It was a pleasure being your captain for this evening and I hope you all have a safe trip to your destination. Thank you for choosing KE for your travel experience." The speaker turned off as many people were getting up slowly.
It was 4:00 in the morning so everyone was just waking up. Everyone except you of course. You couldn't sleep since plane rides messed with your anxiety so you were catching up on your shows instead to pass the time.
You felt like it was forever ago since you left for the states. Even the air felt different as soon as you stepped off the flight. You were gone for far too long.
You had an amazing opportunity to study abroad and begin your educational degree since you had the grades to graduate early. It was tough leaving your home behind but you felt like this was a once in a lifetime experience and you had to take it.
You held your bags and as you were the only one waiting for the bus. You didn't tell anyone when you were returning so you were all alone. 4:00 was a cruel time to get anyone out of bed. You stayed at the nearest hotel that was in your city and went to sleep as soon as you hit the mattress. You were exhausted.
....
You heard a knock early in the morning sending you awake that you couldn't help but feel annoyed. Was the hotel kicking you out already?
You dragged yourself to the door barely keeping your eyes open and as soon as you opened the door, you heard screaming and arms embracing you tightly. "You're back."
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to get you (Y/N). Why didn't you tell me your flight was this morning, I've could of gotten you."
"Thank you Yeojin but I wasn't gonna call you at 4 in the morning." You said in between a yawn.
"You told me you weren't done with school until the 28th you liar, why didn't you say anything?"
"I thought I was at first but since I'm transferring back, I can leave earlier." You shrugged sitting on your bed.
"You look different." Your friend glared.
"What do you expect, it's been 3 years." You rolled your eyes. "You look different. Your hair is so short." You referred to her waist long hair that was now barely past her shoulders.
She smiled. "Okay, hurry get ready. We are going to hang out like old times. You, me and Minho."
Minho?
Your heart fluttered just hearing his name. You, Yeojin and Minho were inseparable since the 5th grade but the problem was your feelings grew stronger for your friend. It was bad enough that you felt going away was a good idea at the time since you didn't want to ruin your friendship and hopefully get over it but the lost feeling was still there just thinking about him.
"Earth to (Y/N)."
"Sorry." You got up and pulled out your suitcase.
"When's the last time you've spoken to him?"
"Um....last week actually." You said digging out your clothes.
"Has he said anything to you? Anything in specific?"
You looked at your friend confused. "Like what?"
"Oh nothing. Just curious what you guys talk about?" She was nervous.
"We talk about all types of things." You shrugged. "He told me he got another cat but that's about it."
"Oh right." She laughed.
"Is there something wrong?" You asked worried.
"No, of course not. You've just missed a lot that's all.....we will catch up when we go eat. Hurry and get ready."
You shook it off and continued getting ready. What was she hiding that had her all fidgety.
....
"Oh my gosh. Jyoti's! This was like our place." You smiled. "American food is good but I've missed Korean food so bad."
And there he was. Your eyes locked with Minho's and his face brightened up as soon as he saw you. You couldn't help but blush just seeing how handsome he has gotten, not that he wasn't before but he really grew up. You all did. 3 years can do a lot to a person.
He was quick to wrap his arms around you in a tight hug that you missed so much. He was warm and gentle. "I missed you so much." He said as you were still embraced.
Yeojin scooted into the booth next to Minho as you sat across from them, things felt different but familiar. You weren't kids anymore and it was obvious.
"So how was America? You fluent in English now?" Minho asked and you nodded with a smile.
"America is great but I missed it here. This is Home."
"You finishing your last year here?"
"Yup and I can finally graduate and be done with school forever."
"Easy for you to say, we still have a year and a half left, jerk." Yeojin sassed causing you to all laugh.
"So what have you guys been up to?" You asked and it got quiet quickly. Yeojin even looked at Minho nervously before she began.
"A lot of things happened since we lost our third partner in crime." Yeojin laughed, clearly still nervous. "There was a lot of things I wanted to tell you (Y/N) but it just wouldn't be the same over the phone."
"Okay. So shoot." You took a sip of your drink.
"Well." Yeojin held out her hand flashing it in front of your face. It took you a second to process until you noticed a ring on her finger causing you to cough from the sudden realization.
"You're engaged?"
"Yeah." She still looked at you nervously.
"That's terrific." You smiled.
"Really?" She finally smiled back.
"Yeah. Congratulations. Who's the lucky guy?" You asked and her face went blank again. She bit her lip nervously again as she looked at Minho.
Wait? She doesn't mean.....
"You don't mean you two?" You asked.
"Well, yeah." Your heart instantly shattered hearing her confirm. You fought back the devastation that wiped over your face.
You gulped trying to even get words out. "That's great."
"Really? Look I know it was always the three of us forever but I promise this won't change anything, you won't become a third wheel, we promise...." She rushed out.
"Oh no, it was bound to happen eventually right?" You just thought it would happen with you not her.
You were fighting back tears with a bright smile. "I'm so happy for you guys."
"Thank you (Y/N), we didn't know how to tell you." She held your hand.
You honestly couldn't tell what Minho was feeling. He wasn't obvious when it came to his emotions.
"One day we just clicked and two years later." They've been together for two years and they couldn't even tell you?
"So what about you (Y/N) have you met anyone in the states." Yeojin winked.
You didn't even want to be there anymore. You were having a breakdown and it was torture keeping it so hidden. "N-no, I was too focused on my studies."
"Same old (Y/N)."
Minho finally looked at you concerned as he puzzled what you were feeling. He knew you better then anyone and he had a feeling you weren't taking it as well as you seemed.
"I'm actually really exhausted." You grabbed your purse.
"Right. Her flight didn't land until 4:00 am. You only got 5 hours of sleep last night." Yeojin started.
"Yeah." You nodded looking down.
"We can hang out when you're over your jet lag." Minho smiled at you. "I'll take her home." Minho offered as he looked at Yeojin. "You need to get ready for work anyway."
"I still have a few hours left."
"Not enough. You had your share it's my turn."
"Fine." You all got up and you followed Minho to his car as he carried your luggage.
The car ride was quiet at first but relaxing. "Sorry she woke you up so early."
"It's fine. I have a little break before I go back to school." You leaned your head against the back of the seat.
"So you want to tell me how you're really feeling?"
"About?"
"Don't play dumb (Y/N)."
You nodded. "I'm just surprised that's all, I've never pictured you two."
"We've all been together for a long time."
"I know but you two are just so different." You shrugged.
"After you left, it was just us and we got closer."
"No, I understand."
"(Y/N) I-"
"It's okay Minho. Like Yeojin said, things don't have to change between us. The only difference is you two will kiss and hold hands and probably want more alone time so I know when to leave-"
He pulled the car over to stop your rant. "I thought you said you understand."
"I do." You answered and he looked at you, clearly not believing a word you were saying.
"I know when you're lying."
"Of course you do." You sighed. "Fine, you want the truth. It doesn't matter how you guys look at it or how you act around me but this officially makes me the third wheel no matter what and nothing is gonna make a difference."
He sighed. "It doesn't have to be."
"How? We'll never be able to hang out anymore as just friends, because you two will change that when you say I do. Please take me home now, I really am too exhausted to even cope with anything."
He started the car and finished the ride like you said with complete awkward silence.
"Can I ask one question?" You said as soon as he pulled up to your parents house. "If I never left, would you still have hooked up?"
"I don't know." He didn't look at you.
"Two years and you couldn't even tell me?" Your eyes watered again and you got out grabbing your things. "Thanks for the ride." You said quietly and quickly went inside.
Glad to be back.
-
You were ready to sulk the day away, until Yeojin was blowing up your phone of course, and next thing you knew she was hanging over your bed clearly not giving you your privacy.
"Your parents let me in." She smiled. "It's 11:30, get out of bed."
You would originally be hating this in the best way but now you didn't know what to think. You just rather be alone.
"I'm exhausted."
"But we have so much catching up to do." She was energized.
Of course you knew better, thinking Minho would share your rant. Even though the three of you have been friends for a long time, you had your pick and chooses of secrets between you and him, even things Yeojin didn't know about.
"Please (Y/N). There's so many things I want to ask you since everything is out in the open." She plopped down on top of you.
"I was thinking about having a movie night at my place. I'm feeling nostalgic."
"I have a lot of work to do-"
"You just got out of school." She was quick to question.
"But I need to get ready for next semester." You said anything to get out of it.
"You have months to do that. I finally got my best friend back and I want to do stuff with her."
"Alright fine....please get off of me."
"You use to love my cuddles......what has America done to you?" She whined as she felt your forehead for your temperature.
"Nothing. I'm just exhausted." You whined back.
"Yeah yeah yeah....I get it." She finally got off and let you get up.
"Ah shoot. My sister wants to talk to me about wedding plans....." She began texting in her phone. "Meet me at my place at 5 okay.....Don't be late." She said half way out the door.
And just like that. You were feeling sulky all over again. You just couldn't believe it was actually happening, even sooner then you thought.
....
You walked up hesitantly to your best friends apartment door getting ready to knock when a presence came up from behind. "Hey."
"Oh hey." Minho gave you a slight nod. "I didn't think you would show."
You shrugged your shoulders. "She practically assaulted me."
He gave a dim smirk. "I'm glad you came."
"Are you?"
"Of course (Y/N)."
"I don't want to third wheel you guys."
"You won't be." He brushed passed you opening the door.
"I can't believe you....I told you to wait. Now you ruined my carpet." You heard Yeojin whining, echoing throughout the room.
"I can get it out." Another unfamiliar voice broke out in a chuckle.
Now you knew the real reason you weren't the third wheel.
"Minho....I'm gonna murder your friend." Yeojin whined. "You leave for five minutes-"
"It slipped.....ow." Yeojin smacked Minho's friend interrupting him in the process.
"(Y/N) thank god you're here. These two together is seriously a nightmare." You couldn't help but grin from the amusement that was circling the room.
"Please excuse Minho's squirrel like friend, he's a special one."
"My names Jisung.....and let's not forgot the real reason Minho had to go out and get food." Jisung kindly shook your hand.
"Oh shut up. My ovens busted."
"Sure, let's just say that." He smirked.
"I'll kill you."
"Okay. Nice to meet you guys, I'm gonna help Minho in the kitchen while you two sort things out." You sped past them to help Minho with the food.
"There's nothing to sort.....you better clean that up."
"It's just wine, it will come out." You still heard them fighting in the living room.
"What the hell?" You laughed as Minho was taking out the containers.
"Trust me I know." He laughed back.
"So who is this friend?" You asked not being familiar.
"Oh Jisung? We were roommates freshman year."
"Seems like they are well acquainted."
"You have no idea." Minho laughed as he was quick to change his tone. "You okay? You were very upset yesterday."
"Can you blame me? You guys lied to me for two years. We've talked on the phone plenty of times Minho."
"I know. I was scared. Yeojin was scared."
"Because even though you say it's not, things are gonna change." You continued.
He sighed. "I know.....But I don't want them too."
"It's too late for that." Because they already have. Just knowing that they were already together in that way for two years was a hard reality check.
"I'm sorry. It's just a lot to process. I really am happy for you guys." You showed off a weak smile.
He gently held your hand for a second until the fight grew louder and closer in the matter of seconds.
"Minho, I'm sorry for ruining your fiancé's ugly carpet. There happy."
"Okay it's time to get the drinks out." Yeojin just smiled as she was getting nowhere.
"It's not like she owns the place." Jisung whispered causing you to giggle. "I'm sorry I didn't get to properly introduce myself. You're (Y/N) right?"
"Yeah." You smiled. He was actually really nice.
"You lived in America? That's pretty awesome."
"Yeah. Three years."
"I lived in Malaysia so I know a little English if you ever want to share any secrets about these two."
"Okay, sure thing." You giggled at his response as Minho smacked the back of his head.
He was pretty cool, you weren't gonna lie. You even felt more comfortable that he was here. You dreaded being a third wheel tonight but now you had someone to count on.
"The sad thing is I can't even use bleach because my carpets aren't white."
"Oh my god, I will rent you a carpet cleaner for Christ sakes. Stop whining."
"You better."
"Foods getting cold." Minho glared at the both of them.
...
After the food and a few drinks later, it was clear that Yeojin was drunk. The rest of you were causal but she must of slipped a few more then you thought.
She was on her hands and knees scrubbing her carpet with a dry towel, doing absolutely nothing to the stain.
You and Minho were in a fit of laughter as Jisung was shaking his head with guilt. "Minho I'm so sorry."
"She's fine. It's not even that bad."
"Jisung ruined my carpet." She whined.
"I'm gonna get her sober a bit." You got up and helped Yeojin to her feet and walked her to the kitchen. You gave her some water to begin.
"That stain will come out so easy, trust me....but we will worry about it tomorrow okay?" You reassured.
"Okay." She pouted. "This night was suppose to be about you and Jisung but he had to spill the wine."
"What?" You asked trying to understand what she just said.
"I invited Jisung to hook you guys up....I didn't want you to be a third wheel."
"But you said you wouldn't make me feel that way."
"That's pretty difficult when we are a couple."
"Wow, thanks for inviting me Yeojin but I think it's time for me to go." You quickly left her side and made your way to the front door.
"(Y/N) where are you going?" Minho was quick to stop you.
"Home." You said as you shut the door behind you.
Minho was close behind following you to your car. "What happened?"
"Yeojin just told me the real reason why Jisung was there."
"It's not what you think. We hang out all the time, she just wanted to see if you guys connected that's all." He defended.
"I don't need your pity. I get it, you guys are together now, you don't want me around but don't try to make me look like the bad guy."
"We want you around (Y/N) but that's the problem. Things are different and we are trying to work around it."
"By setting me up?"
"What's wrong with that?" He asked.
"Everything. I'm never gonna be able to look at you guys the same anymore."
"Why not?"
"Because I liked you first." You slipped out. You didn't know if it was the alcohol in your system or the constant rage you felt.
"I'm so sorry....I shouldn't have said that." You turned towards your car.
"(Y/N) wait. You shouldn't be driving." He said calmly.
"I'll be fine." He stopped you once again. You couldn't help but stare as he looked at you like you were broken into a million pieces. "I'll walk then." You broke free from his embrace and were quick to begin your walk.
He didn't let you off the hook that easily as he was walking besides you. "How long?"
"What do you mean?" You played dumb.
"How long have you liked me?"
"(Y/N) please talk to me." He asked impatiently.
"Since our first junior high party." You confirmed.
He knew immediately.
"I was already developing a crush on you by that point but after that night I knew for sure that I was falling for you." You continued. "I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin our friendship."
"Since our kiss."
The kiss. The big secret you both kept from Yeojin. It was your first party and of course everyone was playing spin the bottle. The game lasted a while before landing on you and embarrassingly enough the one who spun backed out humiliating you in front of everyone. Not only were you the laughing stock at the party, you were the only one that didn't get to experience your first kiss, until Minho of course.
He wanted you to experience it the right way so he took it upon himself to be your precious volunteer. Being best friends you both shrugged it off and decided to never mention it again especially to Yeojin but you couldn't let it go. You knew since then you have fallen for your best friend and were slowing dying instead thinking that the two of you would never be together.
"Yeah." You confirmed and he was puzzled, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk.
"It's fine, I'm sorry for bringing it up. I'll be okay, I just need some time to think." You stared as he was still processing what you said.
"I wish you told me sooner." He said suddenly.
"But what then?.....we would be in the same situation."
"Maybe our friendship wasn't meant to be." You continued.
"Let's just talk about this later, maybe more sober." He spoke with slight sarcasm.
"I feel fine." Your house wasn't that far from Yeojin's apartment - right in town.
As you reached your door, you stumbled your way up the stairs from the lack of light that was only reflected from the streetlights. You held up your phone so you could dial in your parents passcode and Minho was right behind following you inside.
"You should go back to Yeojin now.....I'm sure she's going crazy with Jisung there annoying her." You took off your shoes and slipping into your slippers.
"Yeojin is fine." He was still studying you to see if you were stable. "Are you gonna be okay if I leave? What time do your parents get home?"
You shrugged. "I'm an adult. It's not like I haven't drank before. I will just go to bed." You leaned against your counter taking a sip of water. "Please stop looking at me like that."
"Like what?" He fiddled with his jacket avoiding your glare.
"Like I'm broken."
"I don't think that......You're the strongest person I know actually." He stepped closer. "But in a way that it could be dangerous."
"How so?" You tilted your head in confusion.
"You act tough on the outside to benefit everyone else but you don't stop and think about benefiting yourself." His voice was soft as he was closer to you.
"Well......Sometimes benefiting myself doesn't get me the best of luck." You played with his jacket before looking up at him.
"I'm sorry I left." You weakly whispered. He stared at you desperately before connecting his lips with yours.
You didn't believe it was real since the alcohol was playing games with you all night. But he was real and he was there, lifting you up on the counter as things escalated quickly. You pushed his jacket off his shoulders as he pushed his hands up your shirt loosening your straps that occupied your spine.
He was quick to follow further down your neck once you needed fresh air to process what was actually happening but the worst part was you couldn't stop. You were in fact the third wheel and now you were about to cause an explosion.
How could you do this to your best friend? In fact, both your best friends.
And here you were a moaning mess, gyrating your hips against his. You couldn't help it. You were weak. You were weak to his touch, his soft hands touching your sensitive skin, comfortably under your shirt. You felt him against you and you wanted it. You wanted him.
You reached for his zipper in a quick endeavor to get it over with since you were too far gone anyways but fate had it all in it's control as your front door opened, causing you and Minho to make a desperate attempt to clean each other up before your parents had a chance to enter the room.
"Hey." Your mother greeted.
"Hey.....uhh wheres dad?" You crossed your arms over your chest from your lack of bra that was now hiding in Minho's jacket he had draped over his shoulder.
"He's on his way. He's just getting out of work."
You were just glad that you had sobered up enough to hold a decent conversation.
"Hey Minho, I feel liked it been so long since I've seen you? How's your mom?"
"She's good. Still cooking." He smiled that big gummy smile you always adored.
"That's great. I hope you two aren't up to no good." Your mother glared remembering the good old times.
"I was just walking (Y/N) home that's all." He took a few steps towards the door.
"Where's your car?" Your mother looked at you.
"Ohh ummm....It's at Yeojin's.....we had a little to drink so we walked instead." You spilled the truth. "I'll get it in the morning."
"Thank you for being responsible." Your mother laughed as she put her bag on the counter that you just previously sat on.
"Well I hope you have a good night...." Minho looked at you with stern. "You too Mrs. (Y/L/N)."
"Anytime dear. Thank you again."
"Minho...." You followed him to the front door.
"Don't worry about it (Y/N)." He spoke. "We still have our secrets."
He reminded you.
You had this sharp pain in your gut. A pain you never wanted to feel but it happened and it was wrong and now it was another secret locked away in the darkest parts of your mind and you didn't know how to feel about it.
Whatever happens your betraying your best friend. But which one?
too be continued...
