Lark moved through the crowd with two mugs in her hand. She weaved in and out expertly as she made her way over to the person in question. Finnick and Annie's wedding was a beautiful one and brought a bit of happiness to District 13.
Lark settled beside Johanna and handed her a mug of cider.
❝ Here. ❞ She said and gave her a little nod as she watched the dancers.
❝ How odd there's a wedding happening with everything going on but I think it was needed. ❞

The tears stung Nyra’s cheeks as she ran across the street towards Central Park. She had proposed that she attend Harvard for college fifteen minutes ago, but Alicent had torpedoed her plans by saying that Wellesley was a better choice for well brought up ladies while Dad had just sat there as he always did and smiled and nodded.
Nyra was so enraged that she was running. She ran as far as Bow Bridge and stopped when she was out of breath. She leaned against the stone and turned around to see a familiar face. “Oh, for fuck’s sake,” she said looking at Harwin. “Did Dad tell you to follow me?”

That's the rub, isn't it? Sometimes she thinks it's almost harder to keep these children alive after they get out of the arena.
She looks back up at the screen for a moment while she considers. Mags was about his age when she had to watch her first games, after. But that's about where the similarities end... No one expected victors to mentor, yet, so she'd been sweating through a new dress in a crowd back home, shaking-in-her-boots angry how quickly the tributes from Four had died.
His tributes will die quickly, this year. And the year after, and the year after, and the years after that, if the last four decades are anything to go by. She knows her own kids will be a big reason why.
"I've been surprised before," she says, after a while.
Haymitch holds onto Mags' hand tightly, feeling so small as she sits next to him. He's still a kid. Winning the games didn't change the fact that he's still just a kid.
He grimaces, lower lip wobbling as he looks at the screen again.
"Can I ever do anything?" he asks. "Just sitting here is-- I didn't think anything could be worse than being in there."

@mvndrvke asked "i see a lot of myself in you." shireen
𝖆 𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖐𝖊𝖓 𝖜𝖔𝖗𝖑𝖉 𝖍𝖆𝖗𝖉𝖊𝖓𝖘 𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖐𝖊𝖓 𝖌𝖎𝖗𝖑𝖘. there's a bittersweet smile that overcomes stoic features. while meant with good intentions, the younger girl's comment only reminds sansa of the trauma they've both faced. tully blue eyes look to the other, observe her carefully. poor thing had a rough go at life, yet sansa refuses to pity her. the last thing she craves is a stranger's pity - why should shireen be any different.
❝ you are a strong thing, ❞ the lady of the north praises. a hand comes to delicately give the other's shoulder a short squeeze. ❝ we've both grown up too soon, hardened by men's wars. ❞
[ little dove, that's what they called me, and as i look to you, shireen baratheon, perhaps i see the very same cersei saw. a young girl who was forced to sharpen her claws to play in this game ; though i will protect you. you will not know the horrors i have. you may be a little dove too, but you will not have your wings clipped and stripped like i have. you will fly free. ]
❝ you will be a force to reckon with. one day, all of those who wronged you will be kneeling at your feet. that i know for certain.❞
#03. answered | a raven from the north.#07. main verse | long may she reign.#mvndrvke#mvndrake : shireen#idk what this is LOL#but i hope it works!!!

Alice couldn't understand that feeling, not really, because she had barely any memories of her time as a mortal. She could well imagine Bella's frustration at not being as strong as them but it wouldn't last. She had seen it, saw it clearer and clearer with every day that passed.
"You won't be for much longer Bella. You are going to be faster than most of us." She let go of Bella and nodded her head as though she were imparting some ancient wisdom.
When Bella hugged her, Alice was careful to stop breathing. She didn’t struggle anywhere near as much as Jasper did but it was best to take precautions, especially because Edward had been right when he had explained that Bella smelled very good.
“You’re my best friend too Bella.” Alice replied, returning Bella’s embrace, making sure to only lightly squeeze her friend. Her body was a lot frailer than Alice was used to because she only hugged her found family and they were all the same as she was.

❛ Ah gotta give it to ya, Hawky you’re one helluva tough cookie. ❜ Not only was she physically durable, but it seemed like her determination was something that only made her stronger. Sure, you could always get stronger, but that persistence that she withheld? It could not be taught. ❛ Aight, ya got me. Ah’ll quit mah whinin’ and we’ll head out and catch this fella. He ain’t running loose on our watch. ❜

Robert hated Dragonstone. He hated its grim, dark walls, the dragons etched and carved into every surface, the smell of brimstone hanging in the air and even more he hated the memories that it brought with it. It was no wonder the Targaryens had been driven mad. Only Stannis could survive and even thrive in such a dreary place. Had it not been Shireen's name day, Robert doubted he would have even made the trip (indeed, he would have found Harrenhal a cheerier local than the island fortress.)
Stepping off the boat and onto the dock, he tried to hide his loathing behind a smile. Knowing his brother, he had no doubt that he would meet the royal retinue by the dock, his family in tow, and he would hate to disappoint his niece.

hermione had not seen viktor since the wedding -- and even then, she had to admit that her attention had been minimal, distracted and anxious despite herself. her thoughts had been far away from the burrow, from the joy of the newlyweds, and from old friends. seeing him now brought about a whirlwind of emotions that hermione was unprepared for: happiness, at seeing someone who had once meant so much to her, but confusion and sadness too. he was, after all, from a world before the war, and hermione was not sure how much of that girl now remained.
steeling herself against her own dizzying thoughts, hermione flashed viktor a gentle smile, pulling him into a hug that perhaps was a bit too tight -- before she pulled away with eyes downcast. ❛ its good to see you again, viktor. i’m sorry i stopped writing, i didn’t know if... you wanted to hear from me. ❜

Padme could see the value in that philosophy, that sometimes the demands on their lives was almost too much and they needed some way of dealing with it because they couldn't crumble. Neither of them had the luxury of being able to crumble, even for a moment. They were leaders of their people. Perhaps that was why they had gravitated towards each other in a manner that had been unspoken.
"I wouldn't call your perspective cynical. You still believe in the best of others, you still have hope, just as I do." Padme resisted the urge to reach out and rest her hand on Satine's shoulder, attempting to offer a form of comfort.
When Satine passed comment about Master Qui-Gon, Padme had to try very hard not to smile and laugh, again, because Satine had a point. He had been rather serious, certainly more serious than a certain Jedi Knight Padme was most familiar with.
@mvndrvke sent a confession.
❝i need a dose of imminent peril to get my head straight.❞ satine to padme!
———–
Padme knew she shouldn’t laugh but there was something somewhat amusing about the statement. She absolutely believed that Satine probably did view peril in a different way than most would in her position. Satine was unique and Padme was also unique. She wasn’t a fan of imminent peril but it seemed to enjoy her company, treading after her wherever she went. The rewards if she succeeded in any situation were well worth the potential of dying. Padme had no intentions of dying anytime soon though.
“That probably isn’t healthy but I understand it Duchess.” She allowed herself a small, soft chuckle.

"Well, I certainly don't want it to be anyone else. If it were, then yes, I would be more than annoyed. You, however, I enjoy it..." He admitted with a slight pink dusting on his cheeks. Aemond's cheeks were warming as he thought of his words and hoped the admission wouldn't upset or scare her.
Inej lets out a breath of amusement, rolling her eyes with well meaning exasperation.
“So it doesn’t annoy you that I do?” she asks. Her voice is softer than she means it to be, less teasing and more curious.

Aemond sighed, but he was. He was cursed, and a kinslayer, and she surely would leave him if she knew such things. He couldn't blame her if she did. Either way, Inej was right about being tired; he only wanted to close his eyes and let his mind have peace. "If am I am to leave this world, make sure it is your knife that pierces me.." He chuckled softly.
Inej's brows remain furrowed, and she keeps her hand on his arm. He won't look at her, and that only solidifies how she feels about his behavior. "The fact that you feel guilt for what happened tells me you shouldn't be," she says. "Whatever happened out there, it's not your fault."
She leans slightly to move herself into his gaze again. Her voice is soft. "Rest now. I'll watch over you. Please."

Her words cause him to pause. His? He may have misheard her or perhaps heard what he might have wanted. Aemond had always felt there was more but had never been brave enough to truly explore it or worried he might ruin what had already been them.
He trusted her with everything and couldn't handle losing her. "I am yours, too. There is no one else that I trust like you." He whispered back softly. "You have my loyalty.."
It’s a confession as dangerous as it is comforting, Inej thinks. Aemond is someone she trusts fully, and someone who trusts her. The boundaries are so carefully laid out between them, and yet this feels like a shift. It’s not something they easily or readily admit to each other, which makes the moment precious.
“I trust you,” she echoes. Fingertips brush against his wrist gently, comforting as much as the gesture is curious. “I’ll always be loyal to you. I’m yours.”
