Hello everyone.

I'm finally writing out a new pinned post, I feel like it's at least somewhat time. I haven't and probably won't ever move on but I've gotten a lot more interaction lately and myself have interacted a lot more so I think this is both needed and good to have.

Anyways,

I'm Anna! I'm pretty Butch (look pretty masc but I don't really identify as that), 28 (birthday is August 24th) and I'm primarily a shiny transfem (aka a dom/top and yes I stole this) who also just really likes helping people and tries their hardest to be nice. I have a LOT of kinks, and very few things are off limits to me.

My favorite anime (among others) is Naruto (the OG) and Aria: The Animation.

Astolfo is my favorite character of all time and as close to a kin as you can get. I love her and strive to be as much like her as I can.

With all due respect, when seeing people are being allocated partners for the big bang, you and emilykaldwen are presumably hooking people up. You're viewing who is who before matching them up but correct me if I'm wrong. Are they anonymous when you go through the submissions and you don't know either or are you aware of who is who before matching people? Considering the fact you two are close to the two individuals paired up I think it's weird you decided to match two mutuals on that basis if you knew it was them beforehand. You cannot build community by joining mutuals together for challenges. We can work with our besties all year round. The challenge is meant to be a chance to widen our horizons. It doesn't matter if you linked one of them up with other people 🤷 maybe using a random generator would be better so then it takes you and emilykaldwen out of the reckoning. Pretty sure people would love to work with lady morrogen and vampire ex girlfriend who are so talented.

The pairing is done entirely by me! @emilykaldwen very kindly offered to help me to run this year’s event, dealing with writer and artist queries and modding the Discord, so that I can focus on the behind the scenes admin stuff.

I do have visibility of the author’s name when summaries are submitted. The process just wouldn’t work if I didn’t, as it would create heaps of extra work of me having to contact each individual writer to be like “hey, is this yours?” when it comes to announcing the pairings.

I strip away all identifying information, place the summaries into an Excel and then send it out to the artists. They then select the fics that they like the sound of. I only ever say no to people if someone has already requested a fic. Both artists and authors have no idea of who they’re working with until I announce it.

Taking away the element of choice for artists would deter them from signing up, I think! For instance, if you’re typically a person who enjoys Aegon centric fiction, being assigned a fic that is centred around Tyland Lannister might not be particularly inspiring, and the author would end up with artwork that’s reflective of that. Everyone should be able to work to their strengths!

If you’re unhappy with how the event is run, you are welcome to start your own! No one is obligated to participate in mine. I didn’t have to ask permission to start my Big Bang, I just did it. This is the second year that I’ve done it, and both events have been great!

Your hang up seems very much centred around Mare and Alex, which leads me to believe this is a personal issue for you, rather than one based around the running of my event. I don’t want to get in the middle of that, but I would recommend sitting with those feelings and exploring why you feel that way.

The basics of Summer from what I've constantly studied ☝️ 🤓

Summer is a somewhat stereotypical teen girl. She's shown to chase popularity in the first season and lives both a chaotic yet stereotypical life. She puts up an acceptable front for people she wants to impress but not for people she already knows. She's desperate for friendship, latching onto two people who show exaggerated halves of herself - Nancy with her meek and nerdy nature, then Tricia with her popularity and sexual nature. She seeks others for her own gain and found people who reflected parts of herself, hence why she puts up with them

Around Season 2, Summer radically shifts. She slowly goes on adventures with Rick, but it's the fact that she was the one who befriended Tammy that she holds against herself. When she turns out to be an agent for The Galactic Federation, she cries in 'The Wedding Squanchers' alone because she sees this as her actions catching up to her

From here on out, Summer values family above all else. We see how she keeps the family together and insists on hanging with them more. The sacrifice is feeling so alone and even sometimes undervalued because she has no one distinct person to hang out with. She becomes hardened to fight and is considered a dangerous being across the multiverse because they don't have failsafes for a character that has none of Rick and Morty's flaws but is as volatile

oh hi.

i'm putting my rp blogs on hiatus! how long? don't know! i've already really dipped in online activity the past 4ish months primarily due to a mix of overall burn out + irl things coming to the forefront of my focus. i'll be moving in the next couple months into an apartment, which means i'll be switching to a fulltime job at some point soon. that coupled with other irl things means i'll be pretty absent on basically all my rp blogs.

reflecting a bit here, i've definitely slowed down a lot in terms of tumblr roleplay over the years and i feel i've finally hit my ceiling.

i still really enjoy this hobby, but i've grown tired with doing it on tumblr specifically. i feel there is this impossible urge i have to keep up with everything going on with my mutuals and their characters driven by fear of missing out on potential roleplay opportunities that it becomes discouraging the more and more i'm faced with it and can't meet the expectations i set for myself. it's something i've dealt with before in the past, and it was something i was dealing with before i started becoming less and less present on here back in autumn, among other things. and i think the fact i've been less anxious and more at peace since distancing from the tumblr rp scene is a sign i should definitely listen to what my gut is telling me.

so i will be taking a proper, official break. and i think when i am ready and in a position to properly come back, whenever that may be, i'll likely be remaking and moving my sonic blogs to a multi for convenience sake.

this ISN'T a goodbye, though. i'll still be available on discord and will be lurking in the servers i'm in, and i'll probably still occasionally pop on one of my rp blogs for the occasional goof in my down time. BUT for the time being, in terms of proper roleplay - i'm gonna be restricting that to discord only.

you're welcome to ask for my discord, if you'd like to keep in contact (but i will be selective with who i give it to). i've been kind of a social hermit lately though i'm trying to NOT be that and interact with people again.

Here in the fandom I am wanting to reach out and try and make friends with of the members but I ......just don't know how.

Hey there, anon! First off, I want to assure you you’re definitely not alone in this fandom and thank you for judging me an appropriate person to help. I’m definitely very socially awkward as well (even if it doesn’t show much since I’ve gotten very comfortable around here), so I’ve been there. I’ll share what I’d do in your situation (basically, what I’ve been doing since the fandom began sgksbsjsbs), I hope some of it can be of help to you <3

How to make friends in the fandom:

1- Discord

I, personally, do not really use discord chats. But I did back at the beginning, and they’re an amazing way to find people in the fandom to chat with! Essentially the etiquete of discord (as far as I know) is that you’re welcome to join in on conversations that are already happening, so you don’t need to stress about intruding. I’m pretty sure the biggest Hilda discord is Hilda Guild-a, but the tumblr community also has the Hilda Fandom Network. I (and any other member) can send you a link to the latter if you’re interested and don’t mind shooting one of us a DM! There’s also a sketchbook discord (and I’m assuming you’d be interested in talking about sketchbook since you’re. You know. *gestures vaguely around my blog* here), but I’ve been trying to find the link for jetcat for weeks and still haven’t managed to 🫠 wish you a better luck than mine, anon

2- Tags!

If you’re a person who makes content for the fandom — and I don’t just mean fics or art; shitposts and meta count too — pay attention to the people who not only reblog your stuff, but leave tags adding their thoughts/agreeing with you/screaming as well. They will probably be more open for dialogue since they not only already know you, but also like what you do and how you think!

Likewise, interact with the people you want to get closer to! You have probably already gotten a feel of some bloggers in the fandom, so make sure to reblog the posts you like from the people who sound kind and interesting to you, and let them know what you think!! This way they, too, will know you’re open for dialogue

(Also in this fandom it’s very common that we check the tags on our posts and answer them if there’s anything to be answered; so it’s already an unobtrusive way to get a blogger’s attention!)

3- Asks :O

Probably the main reason why I refuse to move on from tumblr, tbh. Asks are just so useful when you’ve already had some interactions with a blogger via their posts and want to talk more. You can always ask about safe topics; if it’s an artist or fic writer, I assure you they’ll be delighted to talk about their work. Also sending jokes or thoughts about characters/ships the person likes, or just about the series, is also imo a very nice thing to do :)

4- DMs (*sinister music playing*)

Okay, this is the scary part that you probably want to be careful with (I know I always want to, at least)

Once you’ve been interacting with people for some time in the ways I already mentioned, you might try sending them direct messages (this is especially acceptable if you’re mutuals btw, though that’s just unspoken etiquete and not a Rule of any kind). Depending on how long you’ve been in each other’s orbit, you might send them a fandom thought (that could admittedly have been an ask, but sending it in a DM will make it even clearer you’re interested in chatting), a post that reminded you of them and you think they might like, or even something a little more personal. I truly think this step will rely a lot on you sensing what is the most appropriate course of action

From then on I’d say it’s relatively easy (even for socially awkward people such as you and I) to sense whether the person you’ve approached is also interested in having a back and forth or if they’re just being polite. But either way, if you ever want to ask them (or even begin the chat by asking) if it’s they’re okay with getting DMs and/or apologizing if you’re being in any way intrusive, I think that’s a pretty chill thing to do. I can’t really see anyone in this fandom telling you “no”, but it’s still polite and would put your heart at ease evekvdjdbsjdb

Honestly, this is a cookie cutter-ification of a process that is generally organic, but as a general rule it’s what works for me. You might want to keep in mind that up until last year I was only in DM terms with *counting on fingers* uh. One (1) (☝️) person in the fandom, so I might not be The best person for you to copy xD though that might also be just because I wasn’t necessarily looking to make friends over here. It sort of just happened haha

Honestly, the bottom line is just that this fandom is filled with lovely people and I think wanting to make friends is all but a guaranty that you will. Something that I’ve learned from experience that helped me a lot to keep in mind is that if you’re afraid of being intrusive or impolite, you most likely won’t be. Just from the way you worded the ask, you sound pretty sweet!

I like shipping (who honestly doesn't lbr), but please let's have chemistry between the muses first. I can ship hetero, homosexual or polyships. No big deal. Quick lil update on life in general under the cut

Those of you who know my husband have already seen him posting about part of his issues, so I'm not going to go into much detail there. He starts treatment tomorrow morning. I'm hoping this goes well, because he's been through so much already... He's had a really, really rough couple of years.

Meanwhile, I'm having health problems of my own. My doctor started me on iron supplements for anemia, and on a recent recheck of my bloodwork, my iron levels are actually worse than they were when I was diagnosed about six weeks ago, so we have to figure out what's going on there.... Meanwhile I'm just tired and cold constantly, which is great.

On top of that, my grandmother, who lives with my parents and I help care for, fell a few weeks ago and was hospitalized for three days, after which she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility... She's being sent back to my parent's house at the end of this week, so I'll be back to looking after her... She also fell three more times at the rehab facility for a total of five falls in the last month, so I really don't know how much her care needs are going to have changed until she gets back. She's under hospice care (she's 98), so at least we have other services in place, but it's still a lot.

AND because my life couldn't get any crazier.... My grandfather on the other side of the family was just moved into a nursing home and placed under hospice care as well. I went to see him yesterday, and he's in good spirits, but very clearly approaching the end of his life. So I have two of my three remaining grandparents who currently aren't doing well, and we're just kind of... Taking that as it comes.

I'm also working full time, which is fine because that's nothing new, but on top of everything else that's happened, plus my own mental health bullcrap? It's a lot.

Point is? I'm here. I'm still interested in writing with all of you. But life is hectic and while I continually have the best intentions of getting as much done as I can, I can't always guarantee how much that's going to be. I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everyone's patience, since I can't really say with any degree of certainty when the chaos is going to let up.
