Filling in the Blanks of An Abbreviated History of Mecha

As I worked on An Abbreviated History, it dawned on me that using a broad definition of mecha makes this a rather intense project. The more I went on, the more I thought "What about Gaiking/Hades Project Zeorymer/Gravion/Genesis of Aquarion," or "Maybe I should list Dragon Ball as an honorary mecha show," or "Would Dragon Ball technically BE a mecha show," or "Should I have mentioned Panzer World Galient?" You get the idea. It's also not helped by the fact that I have not watched most of these shows, so the most I can give of a description is, at best, superficial.

My problem is that if I had kept on second-guessing myself, I'd never finish this series. So this post's purpose is twofold:

To kick off a more long-term project that will fill in the many, many, many gaps in An Abbreviated History of Mecha.

To bring to light and to give you, dear reader, an idea of just how expansive mecha is.

Another mech three-for-one special for you:

Muteki Shogun, BakurenOh, Galaxy Mega

A perfect mecha for a ninja themed Sentai because it's just a castle that stands up and kicks your ass. Only reason it's not 10/10 is because the suit being giga restrictive prevents it from having the sickass ninja fights it deserves.

9.5/10: This Castle Sacks You

Absolute chad of a dinosaur mecha only needs two parts to kick complete ass. Eternally mad Dino Thunder basically had it be an afterthought because they didn't adapt the movie at all.

9.8/10: Carnotaurus and Chasmosaurus my beloveds

GALAXY MEGA MY BELOVED. No color clashing at all, the cool ass head mold, the fact that it's a pair of spaceships that turn into a mecha. Young me would have killed to be half as cool. I think it's time.

10/10: SPACESHIPS ARE COOL AS FUCK

SirenBuilder’s a funny name. What is he building? I have to give it credit for being the first silver ranger mech ive seen that’s predominantly silver, that’s shockingly rare! And im a sucker for a robot with a colorful face, i love it with Transformers and i love it here. Blue faces are kinda rare too, makes me think of Muteki Shogun. The head is so chunky that it makes the face look a little squished but it doesnt look bad at all. And look it has Bouken Silver’s antenna that’s so good!!! Id rank it about the same as regular DaiBouken, if not slightly lower.

Having watched all of the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, I can now confidently say it has the best (Muteki Shogun) and the worst (Kakure Daishogun) giant combiner robots.

My helmet was always missing the stickers in the first place. Looks so much better to have them on

Just need a chest plate and a non-floppy sword and I’ll have a passable Muteki Shogun
