VLCC Institute Brides of India
As Indian is a country full of culture, we can see different types of bridal attire and different type of bridal makeup as well. So, we will discuss about some of them today..
Punjabi bride–
Bride full of bold colours, they like to carry heavy makeup, colours like red, maroon, gold, is one of the popular colours, like to carry heavy eye makeup with lots of glitter.
Bengali Bride –
This kind of brides carry elegance and grace, they like to carry bold colours in their eyes, with a Chandan decoration on their forehead, what is called as “kolka”. bold liner makes their eyes pop out and bright lip colour is famous.
Muslim bride –
brides with heavy and bright colour dress, with an enhanced eye makeup, eye makeup like Smokey eye, cut crease is more popular among them, decorating the eyes with glitter and heavy hair accessories like “pasha” is very important to them.
South Indian Bride –
These brides are like to carry most natural look, simplicity is the key to them, with a subtle eye makeup and a proper enhanced lip and saree which draped neatly and lots of gold jewellery to compliment the saree is their favourite.
Christian bride –
When we talk about Christian bride, we can see that they carry a very subtle makeup to complement their white pretty gown, colours like grey, brown, mauve, white looks best to them with a soft natural makeup base.
India if full of different culture and we embrace that as well, there are many different brides more than this, but we discussed little of them, many more to explore.

I had a really weird dream last night, but saying so seems redundant. Here was last night’s dream, or what I could remember.
My family decided that we needed a vacation and decided to take this really weird cruise ship. I think it was smaller than the average cruise ship, and it went REALLY fast. We were taking a cruise through what was essentially a huge Venice; so huge that multiple of these big cruise ships could zip through without a problem. I was really excited because there were these little half-domes that you could sit in on the side of the boat so that you were submerged in the water. Anyway, my entire family including my mom’s side and my dad’s side were there, as well as a few other passengers.
We took a stop at my Aunt’s work, which was, in this dream, at a toy store, but the toy store was also in the water and sold exclusively water toys. We messed around a little there and then got on the boat, and then suddenly my Aunt had three more small children. She was breastfeeding one, and I was holding one and breastfeeding the other, but not with my boobs. Not anyone else’s boobs either. There were just boobs there and I was holding a child at them. Whatever, that’s normal.
We were called for supper. That’s when we met the other passengers. My entire family represented the Christians, and then there was a group of Muslims and a group of Jewish people. We were dining together to represent unity despite beliefs. My Nana was the one to pray and I was nervous she’d say something racist, but she just yelled “Amen! Let’s eat!”
I think at this point I had to go to the bathroom? But then I got to the only bathroom on the ship and inside of walls it had frosted glass, so I decided to just hold it. I got out on saw this redhead girl about my age and a tall blue man walking through the halls. I had seen them before, but they looked really out of place. I kind of just went “Well, this is a very inclusive cruise. So what if there’s time travellers or interdimensional beings?” I followed the redhead girl and made friends with her. She told me she was born in the 1960′s, and I told her that I was born in the 2000′s, and started explaining technology to her while I helped her untangle jewellery. I had to leave her room because my dad wanted to talk to me.
My dad announced to my mom, brother, and I that after we were done on the cruise we’d be staying in the mountains for the night. My brother wanted to go home, so we had to pack our stuff early. I went to my little bunker and was trying my best to pack all of my things, but I only had a small bag and they couldn’t fit. I didn’t remember bringing all my blankets or Lilo & Stitch collection, but it was there. I figured that if I hadn’t brought it purposefully, then I could probably get away with not packing it and it would appear back home. Before we left, I wanted to say goodbye to my friend.
I was walking down the hallway, and slowly the hall turned dark and blue-hued and resembled the body of an airplane more than a boat. I realized that it was essentially an airplane front at the back of the boat and that there were a few decaying bodies sitting in some of the seats. Not every seat, just a few. I couldn’t find my friend, but I saw the blue guy she was often with. I approached him, thinking he would be nice, but he attacked me. He looked kind of like a mix between Slenderman and the Babadook, but with a shotgun. I ran back down the hall and into my friend’s room, and she was there. She helped me hold the door back so he couldn’t get in, but he started firing shots through the doors. We just stayed pressed to the door for a while, but I think the man was taken away eventually.
I explained to her that I was leaving, and she was sad. She asked me if I could show her around and explain some more technology before I went, and I agreed. For some reason, I was carrying her around bridal-style. I carried her up a floor to the gym and started explaining treadmills. She pointed at the stationary bikes and said that she knew that it was a bike, but I told her that they didn’t move. I then put her down, and we discussed our ages. We were the same age, she just came from a different time. She then said “this was me right before my 17th birthday” and then suddenly grew to 6ft. We hugged, and then I was at my house.
I had to go to the bathroom before we could leave again. We were only dropping my brother off. I went to the bathroom, and then my phone was in the toilet. Gross, but okay. I’ll wash it off. It’s supposed to be waterproof. I take it out and put it in the sink, hoping it doesn’t somehow get water damage. I’m shaking the water out as best as I can, cleaning it, and then I drop it in the sink and it shatters.
I wake up.

The Modern Bride |Thangamayil Jewellery
When did you first try out your mom’s saree and jewels and sashayed in front of a mirror?
That loving fond memory — and other little ones, like that cute little earring you double-checked every now & then while in school, the bracelet which you jiggled while talking to your college friends, the first bridal jewellery you wore at your cousin’s wedding — are moments that you cherish for life. The Jewellery in them a substantial facet of those worthwhile memories in you.
Jewellery has been worn by both men and women since time immemorial either as a symbol of marital status, as a lucky charm, as a protective talisman, as a seal of belonging, as a symbol of authority, a cultural statement, and as an expression of individuality. Jewellery is rooted in tradition, provides security, symbolises love, makes a fashion statement and forms a part of one’s own self-identity.
Jewellery tradition
The modern Indian bride is, at her very heart, rooted in tradition. India is a mix pot of cultures with each region having its native signature styles, craftsmanship, and even unique pieces of jewellery. India jewellery designs are distinct and unique to a clan, a religion, an ethnic group, or even confined to a district. Jewellery is part of every familial and social event. Jewellery is rooted in every tradition and culture.
Security from Jewellery
Indian brides across all economic statuses are invariably decked in precious jewellery. Indian bridal Jewellery is usually 22 carat gold, in other words of 916 purity, and almost exclusively made of precious metals like gold, silver and platinum, and sometimes studded with precious and semi-precious stones. It serves a second purpose, where the jewellery is also seen as a form of investment and an asset of value that could help in times of need.
Symbolising love and bonding
Jewellery is a tangible measure of intangible love, and hence a preferred gift. It expresses the bond in a relationship. As in various cultures, the Indian bride and groom exchange rings during engagement. However, it is the unique practice in India for the bride to be adorned with a thaali or mangalsutra or thirumangalyam as it is known in various regions, by the groom as a symbol of his commitment to the marriage. This is a unique culture of every Indian bride — be it Hindu, Muslim, or Christian faiths. There are myriad designs, styles, unique materials and embellishments on the Thaali pendant, unique to her tradition, that the bride wears. It is both an emblem of her marital status and a talisman to protect her. The Thaali is always held in veneration and reverence by the bride to the point of it being sacred.
Making a Fashion Statement
It is said, fashion either reflects you or inspires you. Growing beyond affluence and luxury, the modern bride looks to boutique, designer jewellery made by master craftsmen and seeks to fulfil her desire to be unique and chooses her bridal jewellery to make the statement for her.
Identity defining Jewellery
Each bride wants to be unique on her wedding day and expresses her identity and her bridal jewellery accompanies her like a shadow. Every piece adds to the meaning of the occasion. Her jewellery is a reflection of what she likes and what she aspires.
Wedding Jewellery
Weddings in India are vibrant in nature and steeped in tradition. An occasion to celebrate love, romance, and togetherness. A day that every bride plans to perfection. An attempt to live a fantasy, as she marries her knight in shining armour. On the wedding day, the bride does not feel like just another woman, she feels like a queen, the manifestation of her own desires. As she takes stage as the queen in her own fantasy coming true, the showstopper of which is her Bridal Jewellery.
The Bridal jewellery is a physical embodiment of a mixture of emotions — a symbol of the love showered by those near and dear to her, an accessory of self-adoration, an embellishment to self-worth, and an ornament that serves to reminisce the relationships and happiness — that has, in a way, defined her.
The Wedding jewellery of a bride is not just one grand ensemble, but a series of sets of jewellery for each traditional event of her wedding. She cherishes planning for each socio-religious ritual & event that comprise the Great Indian Wedding.
Wedding Jewellery Shopping
India could arguably assert of being the only culture where shopping for wedding jewellery especially for the bride is an event by itself. It is a journey undertaken by the whole family. Usually, the family chooses to shop for the sacred thaali at a trusted jewellery on an auspicious day. The bride is the centre of attraction and almost everyone is there to please her choice. She is catered to as if she is a queen. She carefully chooses her jewellery for each event. She is the muse and the fashionista, choosing the trendiest designs which she models ever so often in front of a mirror — settling on what best suits her and accentuates her beauty.
As she desires
Even as the modern bride today has a penchant for destination weddings and DJ parties, she retains the passion for traditional garments, ornaments, mehndi, and flower garlands — a tradition that has stayed close to her heart.
As we see her decked with bangles, a choker, a necklace, chains, a haram, grand earrings, a unique vanki (arm band), Ottiyanam (Hip Belt/chain), Nethi Chutti (Forehead), Mattal (Ear chain), Jada Pinnal (Hair Braid Jewellery) and many more — some new and some she has inherited — her carefully curated look reflects her personality. She — is the quintessential modern bride.
She fondly recollects with joy and love, the jewellery which her mom or grandma gave her for the very first time. They being the source of her pride and strength, she is not just inspired by them but aspires to be them. Therein lies her desire to be close to her identity on the day of her wedding. Her choices celebrated and rejoiced. Even years later, she takes a trip down memory lane every time she wears them.
She is the modern bride — her marriage is as she desires.

More About Eid Abayas in the UK
As for more traditional but fancy ladies, wedding abayas doubling as your Eid abaya can help you conserve your beliefs with trendy but timeless looks. For instance, the hijab as a traditional veil or piece of cloth should cover the head and the chest. It can also be worn around the neck. Whether Muslim women wear them as a compulsory clothing choice or for trendier reasons, you can still protect your modesty with beautiful designer abayas for weddings or important religious occasions. Keep in mind that your special occasion abaya should be just the right length around the ankles. Look for designs that have flattering fits with flowy fabric. If your Eid abaya in the UK isopendown the front, this can be tied together with matching sashes or belts. It’s also a good idea to pick occasion abayas with long loose sleeves and styled cuffs.
Fancy Occasional Abayas for Women
Not all occasion abayas in the UK need to be fancy. The convenient thing about occasion wear abayas in the UK is that you can wear them with regular denim bottoms and they’ll still elevate your look to keep you beautiful, sophisticated and properly covered up in your abaya no matter what the special occasion may be. Stylish and trendy women know how to switch up their occasion abayas not just with different colour varieties but also dress with professional and put-together pairs. Your chosen bottoms can be straight, skinny, loose, floral, patterned, printed, side-cut, wide-leg, ankle-length, or just below the knee—whatever your combo may be, the best occasional abayas can still make you look fresh and fab with every event or parties you attend!
Occasion Abayas for that Beautiful Wedding Party
Finally, wedding abayas make for perfect pieces to layer with. The weather in the UK can be unpredictable, so Eid abayas or even an abaya wedding dress can help you prep for rain or shine. This in itself is a huge plus! Lightweight fabrics can keep you cool even under the scorching heat of the summer sun, while occasion abaya layers can keep you cosy and warm when it gets a little chilly outside. No matter what type of party abaya designs you choose to wear, the most important thing is that you’re having fun on different occasions! There are limitless ways to mix, match, and combine your outfits with different occasional abayas or bridal abyss. You may be a wedding guest, a bride on her Big Day, a modern woman itching to party, or just having a casual stroll outside while feeling fancy. At the end of the day, you should be confident with what you’re wearing ladies—that in itself makes all of the beauty shine through.
