How to grow a plant of muskmelon at home?
Muskmelon is a great fruit, especially for the hot summers in India. This fruit has a high water content and contains many rich nutrients. It is one of the best ways to overcome fatigue due to dehydration in summer. Moreover, muskmelons are easy to grow in your home garden or even in grower pots at home. The following article provides information on growing plants of muskmelon at home.
Tumblr media
Benefits of muskmelon
Muskmelon is known to provide multiple health benefits as it contains fewer calories (34 calories per 100 grams). It also contains 0.9g dietary fiber, 0.19g fat, 0.84g protein, and 8.6g carbohydrates. Given its nutritional profile, it provides the following benefits:
Blood pressure control
Improves digestive health
Keeps the body hydrated
Enhances the skin
Growing muskmelon at home
If you want to grow muskmelon plants at home, here are the following steps:
Step 1: Soil preparation
You can grow muskmelon in a garden bed or grower pots. It is advisable to soak the muskmelon seeds in water overnight to accelerate the germination process. Prepare the soil in raised garden beds to allow water drainage. If you want to grow these plants in a grower pot available at a plant nursery in Mumbai, prepare the soil with a good quality pot mix and an organic fertilizer. Ensure you mix these properly. Once the soil is ready, sow the seeds at least 1 inch deeper and ensure there is ample space between the seeds. Water the seeds and ensure the plant soil remains moist. Musk melons prefer warm weather and loamy, loose, and well-draining soil.
Tip: It is always advisable to purchase organic seeds online in India, available at a plant nursery near you.
Step 2: Watering the plants
You can see the seedlings emerge after 20 or 30 days. Transplant the seeds in the grower pots or beds and place them four to six feet apart. Ensure you water the plants regularly during summer, allowing the soil to retain moisture. Prevent overwatering the plants as it can lead to root rot. Also, add mulch to the soil, ensuring it remains moist. Reduce watering once the fruits turn ripe, allowing the fruits to become sweet and flavorful.
Step 3: Fertilizing the plants
It is also advisable to fertilize the plants once a month to encourage plant growth. Use a well-balanced organic fertilizer. You can also apply micronutrients to the plants to enhance their growth, increase yield, etc. You can also add compost manure to the soil to balance its nutrients.
Experts at the plant nursery in Mumbai suggest adding some Epsom (four to five spoons) salt, and borax powder (one tablespoon) mixed in five liters of water. Spray this mixture on the vines to make the flowers and fruits sweet.
Step 4: Preventing pests and diseases
It is possible to prevent the growth of pests or diseases on the plant using natural solutions like soap water or neem oil. You can also eliminate beetles and aphids using natural pesticides available at a plant nursery online in Mumbai.
Step 5: Harvesting the plant
The muskmelons are ready in around 100 days. The brown stems of the vines indicate that the muskmelon fruits are ready and the fruits turn tan from yellow. The fruits also release a sweet smell, indicating their ripeness. It is easy to pluck the melons from the vines with just an easy pull.
Additional tips
Muskmelons grow in the summer season or warm temperatures.
The seeds of the muskmelon plant can germinate efficiently above 20 degrees Celsius, hence, the best time to sow the seeds is from November until February.
Melons are perishable. They can only stay fresh for two to four days at room temperature and for two to three weeks when refrigerated at two to four degrees Celsius.
Final thoughts
Muskmelons are a great fruit to relish during summer as they have high water content. If you are looking for gardening supplies for growing muskmelon plants in your garden, explore Ratanshi Agro-Hortitech today!

Sorry, I've seen you've got a fair amount of questions and requests for Mihawk and I wouldn't want to pile anymore on you, so feel free to ignore this, given I think it's not what you usually answer anyways? I just can't get it off my mind so I'm very curious to discuss it or at least unload it somewhere.
Aside from whatever Oda may have said about the Strawhats, do you have any headcanons as to what the scents of our good boys may be? (Zoro, Sanji, Mihawk, Shanks, Buggy). For some reason I am especially fixated on Mihawk, but that may be just because I can kind of picture specific scents for the others but not for him. Guess that comes with his overall air of mystery.
Ooooh I like this one.
After light research on fragranatica, this is what I've come up with.
SMELLY SMELLS
OPLA!Sanji, Zoro, Shanks, Mihawk, Buggy
SFW Headcanons
This was actually really fun thank you
Sanji
Fun fact about restaurant workers/chefs incoming!!
Tumblr media
Especially in fine dining establishments, restaurant workers are typically either advised against or prohibited from wearing strong perfumes and colognes. It can interfere with both the kitchen staff's ability to cook and the guests' dining experience, since so much of taste comes from your sense of smell.
So fresh, light scents are what he leans toward.
Something along the line of grapefruit and negroli, just very light but still sophistocated.
Maybe with a little herbaceous hint of fresh parsley or basil, but very light. Definitely not oregano, oregano is for savages.
Overall light and flirty, because that's Sanji.
Zoro
Earthy, woody notes. Not just because he got lost in the woods—
Tumblr media
No, but I'm getting cedar wood, sandalwood, maybe a hint of leather.
On the subtler side, I guess you could say more laid back scents.
Just very earthy, not too bold, more noticeable up close.
Shanks
Rum and questionable decisions.
Tumblr media
No really though, definitely on the bolder side, there's nothing about him that isn’t bold.
I'm getting smokey, strong notes of leather and musk (particularly dragon's blood resin, one of my absolute favorite incense scents not self-projecting I swear), underlying notes of spice.
Just overall very bold, with the full intention of drawing you in for more.
Mihawk
Wine. He smells like wine. And murder.
Tumblr media
Also on the bolder side for him, but not as bold. Bit more balanced, not quite as in-your-face.
High notes of spices like anise, cardamom, corriander seed, with lighter sour citrus notes such as bergamot to balance it out.
Just overall very refined and sophistocated, sort of casually seductive.
Buggy
He's a cucumber melon kinda girl.
Tumblr media
Not even joking, straight Bath & Body Works.
Maybe even cotton candy, or he just grabs your perfume as a joke and ends up kinda digging it, who knows?
It's Buggy, though, so definitely on the flashy side.
Strong citrus and fruit notes in general. I really wasn't kidding about the possibility of cucumber, but maybe lemon zest, coconut, I'm getting very tropical vibes.
Maybe with fresh green/herb notes like bayleaf or tarragon.

CHEF OF THE WEEK : BEN
Ben brought the word CHEF to a whole different level this week. A consummate performer and communicator, he used his culinary interest and abilities to make the entire cooking of soup and making of fruit salad process to educate his admiring and adoring fans. He started the soup on Wednesday with the "quartering" of carrots. He used his palm as "a kind of hammer" to slice the large carrots he had brought in. Then he halved the slices and then halved the halves. When he had done that over 4-5 slices, he paused, looked into the distance and said, "That's just like math." Indeed!! The celery came next - he first "marked" the celery stalks so they could all be similarly sized and then proceeded to "slice and dice" them ("That rhymes").
On Thursday, he peeled the potatoes and chopped those up. He then washed the potatoes and added them to the pot. The broth and spices and salt came next. Then he let it cook overnight.
He also began on his fruit salad - by scooping out the seeds of the cantaloupe (taking them home to plant. He then balled the cantaloupe ("also called musk melon, Ms Deepa."). He invited his observers to take sniffs of the fruit, commenting on how wonderful the smell was. He did the same with the watermelon. He included his observers by asking them to hold the melon while he balled it ("Team work makes dream work"). And then Ben said he would like to pour the watermelon juice into the bowl as well, "just to make it really juicy." He diced red pears and kiwi fruit and added that to the bowl and refrigerated it for the next day.
On Friday, he first mashed up the vegetables before adding milk and cream to the soup. He took a taste, invited a friend who was watching to try it as well. "What do you think?" he asked himself. "I think a little more cream and spices," he responded to himself. Those added, he let it cook for a while longer. Just before serving his friends, he added some shreded cheese. "Mmmmm," he said appreciatively when it was all ready, "that smells delicious."
He also mixed up his fruit salad and got that ready. His friends were very ready for the feast as Ben had communicated his excitement about the dishes to them over the 3 days. Through the process, Ben had been humming his current favorite song, "Amazing Grace" while broadcasting what he was doing - bringing a very distinct live cooking show element to the classroom. When he served his friends the soup and salad, he sat down to his own lunch and graciously accepted their compliments - offering even to go to their home and make it for them!

Hi! Poppy, buttery, and shampoo!
Thanks for the ask!
Soft Asks
Poppy- Favorite Pastel color.
I'm bad at picking my favorite colors. I always choose three. So, Yellow, Blue, and Pink.
Battery- Favorite Snack.
There's this fairly new pretzel bites thing by the King's Hawaiian (usually get their rolls for holidays) these make for a pretty tasty snack though. I also like pistachios, sunflower seeds, and cashews. Though I haven't gotten those lately. I've been really into quick mostly junk food right now. If we're going sweets (I'm not good with sweets, I lean towards bitter ones more), cosmic brownies or swiss rolls are rather good, too.
Shampoo- Favorite scent.
I'm really into candles and incents. I have two candles I always get. Pink Sands by Yankee Candle, Stress-free (Stressless) Tuscany Candle, and sometimes when those aren't available I get Sea & Sand Tuscany Candle.
Scents are
Pink Sands: Top notes: Citrus, Melon, Berry. Middle notes: Osmanthus. Base notes: Spicy Vanilla, Musk, Woody Notes. (Top note is the initial impression of the fragrance, middle note is the main body of the scent and base is its final impression.)
Stress-free: Wild Orchid blended with coconut and Seaspray.
Sea & Sand: Three tiered Candle (as it burns down it has different scents) Seaside Rain (1st), Linen (2nd), Orange Citrust (3rd).
Some flower based scented items mess with my allergies. So, I tend to favor ones that manage not to do that. Because of that, I wind up leaning more towards ocean and citrust scents more. Though I've always liked the smell of the ocean and water in general. For actual shampoo, I do love the smell of the teatree mint shampoo around here. It has a strong and refreshing smell.
I just realized I gave you multiple on everything. I think I'm just bad at picking favorites. Except for with shampoo, but that's because that one feels amazing.

actually watched a movie today - Suncoast. i cried like a baby, and it played on my death-related anxiety strings a lot. it was a cute movie. I kinda kept expecting Doris' friends to pull a Mean Girls on her, and I'm so glad they didn't. The mother-daughter relationship was interesting - i like how the neglect nurtures so much self-reliance in Doris. Paul saying, "this is a gift, though it may not seem like it now" (or something along those lines), reflects what i've often thought about my own turbulent childhood.
in the beginning, I did mostly look at Kristine through Doris' lens, but by the middle of it I could really empathize with her. single woman grieving the imminent death of her first baby, doing her best to make ends meet - Doris does become a bit of an afterthought at this point which, although is unfair to her, Kristine was just an imperfect human doing the best she could. I like how Kristine didn't give Doris too much grief over her "rebellion", perhaps she understood this was her own wacko teen girl way of dealing with everything thrown at her.
the movie was lacking in depth, for sure - but then it aired on Disney+, so I guess it does a decent job of being a sweet coming-of-age-ish story. i like how it dipped its toes into the ethics of medical euthanasia - literally a brief toe-dip, but i'd say good enough food for thought for its target audience.
overall, a decent one time watch.

What are the different types of seeds in gardening?
Growing plants using seeds can be intimidating, especially if the seeds do not germinate or if the plants do not grow well. Hence, one must choose the best organic seeds online in India. It is also essential to know the extensive varieties of plant seeds available, how to choose the right type, and how daunting it can be. Plant seeds available at a plant nursery in Mumbai are available in extensive types like organic, non-GMO, heirloom, standard, etc. If you are unsure about choosing the right types of seeds, the following article will help you understand the difference between different types of seeds for your garden.
Tumblr media
Different types of seeds
Ratanshi Agro-Hortitech features the following types of seeds:
Heirloom seeds
These types of seeds are natural and come from natural open pollination. It means these seeds undergo pollination by breeze, insects, or self-pollination. Additionally, these seeds do not undergo genetic modification. These seeds are passed on for over 50 to 100 years.
Hybrid seeds
These seeds are produced under a controlled process to create a better plant variety. These seeds are produced to create a new plant variety using crossbreeding between two plants and using their top qualities. These seeds can provide extensive plant varieties.
Open Pollinated seeds
These plant seeds available at a plant nursery in Mumbai come from open pollination using natural sources like pollinators, wind, and insects. The offspring of these seeds are similar to their parent seeds. It is essential to note that all heirloom seeds are open-pollinated, however not all open-pollinated seeds are heirloom seeds, as these seeds can be new seeds of the original plants. However, over time, these plant seeds can be called heirloom seeds.
Organic seeds
These seeds come from farms containing crops grown using organic farming techniques. The crops do not utilize pesticides or GMO technologies. Organic seeds can produce strong seeds with enhanced properties and are disease-resilient. These seeds can survive in extreme conditions. These seeds are perfect for gardeners looking to practice organic gardening.
GMO seeds
Genetically modified seeds are made in labs to produce seeds with desirable qualities. The seeds are injected with desired genes from different plant species to get their benefits. For instance, the plant undergoes modification to survive dry weather or resist insects and pests. However, it is essential to note that these products aren't a result of cross-pollination and are made in labs under a controlled atmosphere using gene modification. GMO seeds are mostly used for commercial farming to produce large-scale crops.
Tumblr media
Treated and untreated seeds
Seeds tagged as treated seeds often have chemical or fungicide applications to protect them from diseases or pests. Untreated seeds, on the other hand, do not have this application. However, it is essential to note that treated seeds of fruits and vegetables are 100 percent safe for consumption.
Which seeds should I select?
Gardening offers a great experience in the form of physical exercise and rewards in the form of good health and healthy produce for consumption. However, a healthy garden comes down to the basics. From healthy organic seeds to high-quality gardening supplies, one needs to research before they start. The first step involves choosing a reputed plant nursery that offers high-quality organic seeds online in India. Once you have sourced the seeds for your garden from varieties like heirloom, hybrid, non-GMO, organic, and standard, you can start growing multiple vegetables in your home garden.
If you are unsure about choosing the right seed type for your garden, consult experts at Ratanshi Agro-Hortitech, a leading plant nursery in Byculla. The online nursery in Mumbai offers river sand for plants, Bavistin fungicide, musk melon tree, and live plants online in Mumbai. For more details, contact them today!
