Hey gang!

Since it’s Pride Month, I figured I’d make a post exclusively dedicated to my muses gender+sexuality headcanons. I’m not going to include characters like Oliver and Raven since I don’t write for them that often.

Prime universe:

Charles Xavier - Formerly bisexual, now identifies as asexual biromantic. Tends to keep the second bit to himself as he believes himself too damaged to be an adequate partner (and after being hurt by Erik, is extremely reluctant to fall in love again.)

James Xavier - James identifies as heterosexual, but he’s actual bisexual, with a very strong preference towards women (like an 80 - 20 ratio.) He hasn’t come across any men he’s attracted to yet, but his doppelganger has... James is a bit of a weird one in that he’s almost exclusively attracted to extraterrestrial women XD (Does that make him pansexual?)

Vivian Lehnsherr (Ice Queen) - Bisexual, but with a strong preference towards women.  She’s experienced attraction to men in the past, but has only been with women. 

David Xavier (adult) - Graysexual. He doesn’t usually experience sexual attraction, but every so often Violet draws it out of him.

Blake Summers - Heterosexual but desperately wishes he were asexual and aromantic and tried to live that lifestyle due to high anxiety...at least until he met Laura.

Professor X - This version of X never surfaces long enough to dedicate any time to himself, so he loosely considers himself asexual. He’s actually gay, but probably won’t discover that in the Prime Universe </3

Doppelganger universe:

Charles Xavier - Demisexual/Graysexual. He isn’t entirely sure and tends not to dwell on it. Formerly identified as asexual before a heated debate with Magneto ended with them in bed. For this version of Charles, his sex drive is primarily tied to intense emotion and his inability to get over Erik Lehnsherr.

James Darkholme - Bisexual, with a strong preference towards women (same ratio as James Prime.) He thought he was straight for the longest time, until he joined Torchwood and found himself crushing on Captain Jack Harkness. 

Vivian Lehnsherr - Bisexual, with a strong preference towards men. She has experienced attraction to both before, although hasn’t been with a woman (yet??) She’s still in love with Charles Xavier and right now, that keeps getting in the way.

Malekith - Panromantic, possibly asexual or demisexual. He’s not really sure and since regenerating into Tennant’s face, hasn’t taken any time to figure that out. As a Dark Elf, he identified as asexual.

Wyl Darkholme - Non-binary. They’re still figuring out their sexuality but might be gay?

Dark!Blake - Heterosexual. Still possesses lingering anxiety but after learning to control his powers, he’s less afraid of physical touch.

Second Chances:

Charles Xavier - Asexual Biromantic, with a preference towards men. Mostly Erik. They’re happily married and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Second Chances Charles tends to use telepathic intimacy as a substite for sexual intimacy. Wherever that puts him, he’s happy with.

X - Gay but also possibly demisexual? He really only experiences attraction towards Erik, but that might be because Erik is the only man to sit down and really get to know him.

Vivian Lehnsherr - Similar to her doppelganger universe counterpart, she’s bisexual with a strong preference towards men. She still hasn’t been with a woman but had an on-again, off-again relationship with Remy LeBeau before meeting her future husband.

Guinevere Lehnsherr - Asexual Aromantic. She’s perfectly content with familial love and support.

Rahne Sinclair - because I really wanna get the New Mutants storyline off the ground again— Rahne is gay but is still learning to openly accept that part of herself. She’s never really had a safe place to do that </3

Morpheus is returning to your earbuds.

Audible has greenlit two more seasons of “The Sandman,” based on Neil Gaiman’s popular graphic-novel series of the same name published by DC. According to Audible, the first installment — released in July 2020 — was the Amazon-owned company’s best-selling original to date.

“The Sandman: Act II” and “The Sandman: Act III” audio dramas will premiere exclusively on Audible, but the company didn’t provide expected release dates. The next two seasons will again be adapted and directed by Dirk Maggs and narrated by Gaiman, who also returns as creative director and co-executive producer.

Separately, a TV series adaptation of “Sandman” is in the works for Netflix at Warner Bros. Television.

The initial 20-episode installment of Audible’s “Sandman” adapted volumes 1-3 of the graphic novel series (“Preludes & Nocturnes,” “The Doll’s House” and “Dream Country”). Part two will cover the “Season of Mists,” “Distant Mirrors,” “A Game of You” and “Convergence” volumes of “The Sandman” series, and the third installment will adapt “Brief Lives” and “Worlds Ends.”

For now, there’s no confirmation of the cast for the second and third seasons of “Sandman” on Audible. The first series, in addition to Gaiman as the Narrator, featured James McAvoy as Morpheus, Kat Dennings as Death, Taron Egerton as John Constantine, Michael Sheen as Lucifer, Riz Ahmed as the Corinthian, Andy Serkis as Matthew the Raven, Samantha Morton as Urania Blackwell, Bebe Neuwirth as the Siamese Cat, and Justin Vivian Bond as Desire. The project, whose runtime clocks in at nearly 11 hours of audio, also features an original score by British composer and musician James Hannigan.

Gaiman said in a statement, “It was thrilling to be a part of the fastest-selling Audible fiction title and to watch it break records. I’m excited to discover what other surprises the genius Dirk Maggs has up his sleeve in the next volumes of Audible’s ‘The Sandman.'”

He added, “It’s like making movies for the ear that go straight to the brain. And soon it will be time to meet the whole family, then to go back to Hell once more, as Morpheus confronts Lucifer in ‘Season of Mists.'”

Maggs, in addition to Audible’s “The Sandman,” has worked with Gaiman to adapt and direct BBC versions of “Neverwhere” and “Stardust” as well as Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens” for BBC Radio. Maggs also adapted and produced “The X-Files,” starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, for Audible.

“We have a big vision for the next two seasons and the stories in this next installment are among the best Neil has ever told,” Maggs commented.

Season 1 of “The Sandman” audio series currently is available on Audible Premium Plus, which costs $14.95/month and includes one credit per month for any premium selection title as well as access to thousands of other titles.

Gaiman’s “The Sandman” fantasy franchise, which DC Comics debuted in 1989, follows Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming — a vast, hallucinatory realm housing all the dreams of everyone who’s ever existed, including gods, demons, muses, mythical creatures and humans.

two headcanons you have for your character that you never told anyone:

Despite her entire existence being to act as a soldier in the Time War, Emily never actually saw a battle in the entire time she lived on Gallifrey. She lived in the Citadel as a civilian.

Emily never carries any money on her person in her travels, instead she gets by using bluffs, bartering, and sometimes outright stealing any supplies or food she might need. Although she could get these things legitimately, she prefers the thrill of sleeping rough and living day-to-day.

three things your character likes doing in their free time: 

Travelling is Emily’s main passion. She loves to explore and find interesting things and people from all corners of the universe

Emily greatly enjoys getting a rise out of people, petty as it is

To keep herself sharp, Emily makes sure to train at least a little bit so in the event that she does get into a fight or a tight spot, she can get herself out without much effort

seven people that your character loves and/or likes:

Charles Xavier (@they-call-me-professor-x)- The closest thing to a father-figure that Emily has in her life. She loves Charles and would do anything for him, she is also protective of him knowing that he as a mutant (and a well-known one) he is quite vulnerable.

Erik Lehnsherr (@marching-to-the-sound-of-iron)- Whilst not quite as close to Erik as she is to Charles, Emily still respects and likes him even if she also enjoys pushing his buttons.

James Xavier (@the-telepath-son-james-xavi-blog) - Although not always the case, Emily gets along with James fairly well even though they often don’t see eye-to-eye

Emily Clearwater (@child-of-time-emily-clearwa-blog) - Her alternate universe counterpart, at first she and her doppelgänger hated each other but over time have softened to each other (at least in her not wanting to murder her, anyways)

Vivian Lehnsherr - Vivian is a close friend (and crush) of Emily’s. They don’t see each other very often but they are friends regardless

Jack Harkness - (future timeline) Emily was recruited by Jack as a member of Torchwood and sees him as a mentor and another father-figure in her life. She is loyal to him and appreciates that he doesn’t view her as simply her father’s daughter but as her own person.

The Doctor - Emily’s father and their relationship could be charitably be described as strained. Despite this, deep deep down, Emily still loves her father and wants him to accept her.

two things your character regrets:

Despite her willingness to decry her father, Emily secretly regrets that their relationship is, at this point, unrepairable. Deep down, she is still the little girl who wants her father but she knows that there’d be no practical way to patch their rift now.

Emily regrets that she never found out who her biological mother is. She had very little to go on but she still felt like she failed to find out anything about her.

two phobias your character has:

Athazagoraphobia - Due to the fact she was left behind and then rejected by her father, Emily is afraid of those she comes to call friends and allies forgetting, ignoring, or rejecting her as well.

Philophobia - Emily didn’t really have very many positive shows of love in her life so is afraid of ever falling in love herself. She fears what she doesn’t really know.

Halloween Headcanons:

Thought it might be fun to share how my muses feel about Halloween!

Prime Universe:

James Xavier - James loves holidays but Halloween is one of his favorites. He fully supports indulging in both the imagination and candy for a night. Mutant children (and new parents) deserve a break from the world. He has a lot of fond memories dressing up and playing “space captain,” although in those days the Manor’s population was much smaller. James helps kickstart the yearly Halloween party and decorations and sorts through suitable material (he’s not a fan of the gruesome side of Halloween for various reasons and you won’t see those kinds of decorations.) If some of the older students want to watch those movies that’s fine with him as long as they’re discreet. 

Vivian Lehnsherr (the Ice Queen) - Vivian doesn’t celebrate Halloween. She never did as a child and therefore never developed the habit. The only Holidays on her radar are Christmas and Hanukkah/ traditions related to her father’s heritage.  

Charles Xavier – Charles doesn’t like Halloween. It makes him nervous. There’s a lot going on and half if not most of the students dress up. While some of them are still recognizable some are not and without his powers to reaffirm who they are he ends up anxious. That and that gruesome side of Halloween scares the hell out of him; it’s for him that James keeps a tight lid on that. Charles’ only saving grace during Halloween are the occasional treats he’ll put together/bake. In the not so distant future he’ll enjoy watching his young grandchildren partake in the festivities. 

Professor X – Professor X doesn’t care for holidays either, especially any that might trigger Charles. While he hasn’t made an appearance in sometimes he will still knock on that door in the back of Charles’ mind…just to let him know he’s there if anyone or anything scares him too badly. This of course only adds to Charles’ anxiety. 

David Xavier – As a child David loves Halloween. His parents are very enthusiastic about holidays, to the point they sometimes embarrass him. As the adult Time Lord Victorious Halloween gets lost along with many of David’s human memories. He knows of holidays from an outsider’s perspective but celebrating himself doesn’t register.

Blake Summers – Blake doesn’t much like Holidays. He wants to but he’s always held back from celebrating the way he wants to. Anxiety and fear influence most of his decisions—not like Charles but enough he still keeps a safe distance. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone or burn anything by mistake. 

Doppelganger Universe:

James Darkholme – Just like his Prime Universe counterpart James loves holidays and Halloween is no different. That said he’s more embarrassed about voicing his enthusiasm for it, especially around his coworkers. James has a certain image of himself he wants to maintain and tends to get stuck in that mindset. He still sees himself as a kid who has to prove he’s serious and that can get in the way of having fun.

Vivian Lehnsherr – Vivian doesn’t hold much of an opinion about Halloween unless she’s on a mission. It’s harder to identify mutants from humans when everyone’s in costume and it’s really annoying. Like the Ice Queen this version of Vivian never celebrated smaller holidays growing up so she never developed an affinity for them.

Charles Xavier – This version of Charles hates Halloween, possibly more than his Prime Universe counterpart. Too many people out and about in costume, too many awful movies and images everywhere – it causes severe anxiety. If he’s in or nearby a shelter there may be a low-key party with low-key decorations and that’s not so bad…but any violent imagery digs deep into his brain and he’ll usually end up drinking heavily alone/at home. The candy��s not so bad though.

Blake Summers – so this version of Blake doesn’t mind Halloween. He doesn’t celebrate but it’s easier to blend in during covert missions for the Morlocks. He understands Vivian’s frustrations but why not make it work for them?

Will (Wyl) Darkholme – I’m still getting to know Wyl as a character but I think she loves Halloween as a child. Her shapeshifting powers mean her “costumes” are of the best quality. In her teenage years she loses some of that enthusiasm due to her powers (and also being a teenager): what’s the point of dressing up once a year? She can shapeshift any time she wants.

I think seeing alien costumes bother her a little too as she gets older. They were fun and silly as a kid but why don’t people consider aliens really exist??? That’s not very considerate.

Second Chances:

Charles Xavier/Lehnsherr– Halloween still makes this version of Charles nervous. That said he’s found a way to enjoy the holiday for the first time in years. It’s a lot of fun to watch his youngest child get excited about it and how his eldest encourages this enthusiasm. He regrets the childhood she didn’t have; helping her younger sister in turn helps her experience things she hasn’t before. He’ll take lots of pictures that he’ll either frame or put into photo albums.

Charles doesn’t trick-or-treat and he doesn’t answer the door; he’ll leave that to Erik and sometimes X. What he will do is throw himself into baking so by the time his children return their house smells of cinnamon, pumpkin spice and chocolate. Charles adores baking and holiday treats are especially fun.

X – X doesn’t love Halloween for similar reasons Charles’ doesn’t. His apprehensions primarily revolve around Charles actually although the gruesome and violent side make him anxious as well. He also cares less for people than Charles and Erik and after a point is barred from answering the door.

He learns to appreciate Halloween after Gwen is born. She so enjoys it and watching her light up warms his heart. She’s his baby girl and he’ll do anything for her…except trick-or-treat. He leaves that to her siblings.

Vivian Lehnsherr– Like X Vivian learns to appreciate Halloween through her youngest sister. As stated before her guarded childhood didn’t allow for certain holiday celebrations. Gwen doesn’t have such restrictions and Vivian isn’t about to share her disinterest in the holiday. In fact, she often finds herself dressing up along with Gwen, often in matching or complimentary costumes. It brings her little sister such joy, she just can’t take that away.

Plus, Vivian sees herself as a role-model and example for her other sisters: they’ve had such a hard childhood, why not take a break for a night and have fun? (She won’t admit to this but that’s besides the point.)

Guinevere Xavier/Lehnsherr – Guinevere/Gwen loves Halloween. She’s the only member of the Xavier/Lehnsherr family who hasn’t experienced childhood hardship. Like most children she looks forward to dressing up and trick-or-treating every year, especially if big sister Vivian goes with her. After a point she expects Vivian to dress up as well- it’s what they do! They’re sisters after all.

Gwen does sometimes wish her dads would trick-or-treat with them but Papa Charles always has something delicious waiting when they come back so it’s okay.

Prime Universe:

James - James has been with Emily for so long he doesn’t have fantasies like that anymore.

Vivian - I mean she’s already pretty darn discreet when her girlfriend visits...so I guess that sort of counts?

Charles- already answered (no one ever. Ever.)

X - this varies from verse to verse but standard answer is also no one

Blake - Blake fantasizes a lot because he’s too afraid to engage in that kind of intimacy...he’s even afraid to approach Laura that way: yes she can heal but what would prolonged contact do?? (But right now he fantasizes about Laura.)

David - as an adult I think David might be asexual...but I play him all over the map so I don’t think about these questions with him xD;

Doppelgänger universe:

James- M’gann. Definitely M’gann. If not her then maaaaaaybe Emily one time?

Vivian - so in the Second Chances storyline I think she’d like to check out Jack Harkness...but standard verse says she hasn’t met him xD It’s probably Remy if he ever came back—only because she doesn’t want to hear people talk (they’ve already slept together and he has a reputation)

Charles - Like his prime universe counterpart this Charles has no interest in sex

Blake - I don’t know too much about this version of Blake yet so I can’t answer...

Both versions of James with more Doctor Who characters because I just love that part of their stories

Younger versions of parent characters (Raven, Emma, Erik and/or Charles but I’ve always had trouble writing with other Charles’ because he’s my xmen bb)

A darker desperate side of James Xavier following any and all potential Dark Phoenix plotlines for the prime universe

Literally any Post!Dark Phoenix stuff for the prime universe although I should see the movie first...

A whole bunch of different situations where both Vivians encounter their canon siblings: a) Doppelganger!Vivian running into one of her siblings by chance during a scout mission or battle b) Vivian!Prime vs any of her siblings without realizing who they are at first and subsequently how that realization affects her c) I have this au idea in my head of little Vivian being rescued and essentially raised by big brother Peter/Pietro because it’s cute.

What faceclaims would you pick for your muses 10-15 years old?

Okay so!

Both versions of James age incredibly slowly; their faceclaims would stay the same.

For Charles I’d probably still use James McAvoy but beyond 15 years would switch to Patrick Stewart (although this version of Charles isn’t supposed to lose his hair but *shrug*)

In the ‘Second Chances’ storyline I’d use an older version of James McAvoy for Professor X.

Vivian’s Face Claim would probably change to Kate Winslet.
