This is weirdly Sandman related.

One of my Audible credits was about to expire so I was browsing audio books and decided "Hay! Wait! This isn't the mid-90s anymore. I no longer have to rely on the really badly abridged audiobooks of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles!"

The Vampire Lestat read by Michael York was so badly edited that the entire climax and conclusion were missing. It didn't have Louis and Lestat reconciling, or Lestat's concert, or Louis and Lestat being rescued by Lestat's mother, or Lestat's abduction by Akasha...

So I begin my search for the unabridged audio books and to my surprise there was the first five Vampire Chronicles all read by Simon Vance. That's Lucien from The Sandman audio drama! The man who (when I asked who was playing Lucien for the audio drama) he replied on Twitter with "Lucien here, m'lady!"

Before The Sandman audio drama I already had Frankenstein as read by Simon Vance. Now I find he also read as Louis and Lestat?

Lestat... is The Librarian of The Dreaming? Who knew? :-P

Funniest part about having an hyperfixafion on Sandman so far is the multiple instances of me waking up in the middle of the night half delirious(ha) and saying some variation of 'what the fuck is that about??' into the darkness of my room after an out of pocket dream as if the man has personal beef with me or something

I was blessed with Very Good Narrators for the first few audiobooks I listened to, and now I’ve given up on four books in quick succession because I can’t stand the narrators’ voices UGH

Spent an embarrassing amount of time gathering all of Cain and Abel's scenes/lines from the Sandman audiobook...

Cain's voice is just 🤌 perfect (guy does an amazing Vincent Price!) and Abel and Goldie are just too precious!

This song just screams Lyta Hall and Morpheus. The melancholic tone, some of the lyrics fit Lyta, some to Morpheus. 

I understand Morpheus and his absolute need to follow his own rules and being neutral about Lyta (having nothing against her) but I just feel so bad for Lyta. Stuck in her husband’s fantasy then forcefully taken out of it, having your husband ripped away from you and then told “I’ll take your baby one day, bye”is so much. No wonder Lyta is the way that she is.
