It starts, as all the worst things tend to do, because of Joffrey. Now that you’re single, who are you crushing on? Sansa’s heart is racing a mile a minute as she tries to keep the smile on her face, as she tries not to look out into the live audience. “Well, there’s this band,” she starts, then glances out towards the audience, who waits for her answer with baited breath. “Kings of Winter. Their guitarist is pretty cute. Jon Snow? Definitely crush-worthy.”
or, Sansa says a name, and it backfires spectacularly

SKETCHES.
Warning: None. (Damian, Jon, and reader are age ten to make the story a bit more sweeter.)
── .✦
── .★
School wasn’t so bad! If you look at it from Damian’s perspective it’s awesome. He gets to learn AND play music. He’s a very tasked kid, playing about 5 instruments. Impressive isn’t it? Violin, guitar, trumpet, viola, and harmonica. Let me say, he’s proud.
For his age the boy shared a love for classical music. A habit of scrunching his nose when he heard some of the school bands play harsh music. It wasn’t like an abomination or something, but just not his cup of tea. Jon, his friend really was just the opposite. From insulting Mozart to shredding his messy and loud electric guitar in his main solos.
Lunch was one of his favorite parts of the day. The food he got to eat and practicing of his instruments, sounds of the bow hitting the strings of his perfectly tuned instrument. Truly it was heavenly to his ears. “You messed up again.” a voice he had memorized rang in his head like an echo, immediately looking embarrassed with the biggest frown. “I certainly do not mess up. Clean your ears.” he told you with a scowl.
You looked up at him from your sketchbook, doing a sketch piece that you forgot as homework in lunch time while you listened to him play. “But you did- you played C minor instead of D.” you said and pointed at his music sheet. Damian huffed and looked where your finger pointed. “Yeah, I knew that. I was just testing you.” he said, his tone betraying him and saying in a hidden way ‘Yeah I messed up.’.
The assignment you had wasn’t difficult, hence to why you forgot to do it. The instructions were: ‘Draw someone or anything as many times as you liked, but you had to fill the whole page.’ your teacher had spoken in class. Damian tried to peek at your page, failing. Your arm was hiding it like a person who wouldn’t let anyone cheat off their exam. He fairly came to the conclusion that it wasn’t fair. You never showed him your art! He always showed you his paintings and musical errors without hiding them!
He still made no fuzz, no matter how much he wanted to look at the sketchbook he respected that maybe you didn’t feel comfortable with sharing your drawings. Damian understood how most artists were embarrassed of showing their works and that was normal. He continued playing his violin, from playing his piece to playing Howl’s Moving Castle. For a moment you stopped with the pencil strokes.
You mentioned many times before Howl’s Moving Castle, though they were mindless thoughts and some homework doodles. Damian had taken his time to memorize the famous melody in his violin. His gaze was torn between you and his fingers on the violin strings and his other hand on his bow. The gaze was intense, like a stoic way of saying ‘Hey! I learned this for you.’. Other students and teachers paused to look at Damian, ones impressed and others recognizing the tune. Equally, your gaze fixated on him also.
Soon your hand moved on the paper once again, calm with the familiar melody as you drew the familiar boy in front of you with his violin. The drawing wasn’t an exact copy of the moment of course, but it was very clear it was Damian Wayne. That was the reason you didn’t show him your drawings. It would be weird to show your friend he’s secretly your muse. The stop of the music made you look up, his face scrunched up in a way of silently saying that you should be excited. In a quick panic you just clapped your hands, making others that had heard clap along.
It was priceless. His red face full of embarrassment. The claps died down and his face went back to normal slowly. He frowned at you and gave you a huff, “I wished to be appreciated, but not from the whole school.” he stoically stated, exaggerating in the slightest. “Sorry, Wayne.” you said back apologetically, only getting a “Tt.” from him.
────
“I will walk today, Pennyworth.” the boy addressed the man through the passenger window the butler had rolled down. Alfred was indeed surprised. “Alright, Master Damian. Are you sure you will not even drop your violin in the vehicle?” his father’s butler asked, making Damian open a door and leave the violin case securely on the seat and closing the door again. He ran to his friends (whether he liked to admit it or not, you and Jon were his friends.), stopping right in front of the guitarist and artist.
After a while of friendly banter, Jon waved and walked away. Now being alone with Damian he took a notice of the hour. “I will walk you home.” he stated. Not even a ‘Can I walk you home?’. You didn’t comment on it since you didn’t have a ride home. “Okay, Damian.” you spoke with a grateful nod.
He walked with you to your home, making small talk and getting a few laughs and smiles out of you which were secretly his goal. Damian also carried your lunchbox. It was a habit he got from the first day of school, which you guys met. You had teasingly asked him to carry your lunchbox and he surprisingly did it. Grumpily, but he still did, after that he developed a habit of doing it. As you stepped foot in front of your door step you turned around, looking at the boy as he made a call for Alfred to pick him up. You dropped your bag mindlessly and companied him in front of your own house to wait for his ride.
“Thank you for walking me home.” you thanked, earning a nod from him. “No problem.” he brushed off, setting your lunchbox next to your bookbag and without you noticing he grabbed something from your bookbag and closed the zipper quietly, putting the item on the inside his jacket. “You okay?” you asked after seeing his rapid movements. “Yes, I am alright.” he said looking over at you and pretending to fix the cuffs of his jacket.
Alfred arrived after about 10-20 minutes, stopping right in front of your house. “Bye Damian! See you at school!” you said with a smile and a wave. He returned the wave and a small “Yeah, bye.”. He hopped in the back seat of the car and Alfred rolled down the window. “Thank you for waiting with him.” Alfred said gratefully, “No problem, Alfred. See you soon!” you responded. You knew the Wayne family for a bit now, Alfred and Bruce being very fond of Damian having another friend aside Jon.
You got inside your house when you took your backpack and lunch box and Alfred made sure. The car got out of view once he made sure you were safely inside. Now that Damian was alone he took out the thing he had taken. Your sketchbook. He knew he was doing something very wrong, but curiosity killed the cat. He flipped page through page of your art assignments. There were studies and all, but he mainly saw himself. Damian realized that, one; your drawings were awesome, two; he felt- happy? How would he work this out? …
How would he tell you that he was Robin?

Jonsa Musicians AUs
Once again following @esther-dot's lead and putting some Jonsa fic recs out into the universe via a collection of one my favorite AUs.
Previously, I did Harry Potter AUs. This one casts Jon and/or Sansa as musicians. This is not a super common AU in this fandom, but I happen to have a soft spot for it. Feel free to share your own recs in this genre.
Hard candy by @kingsansa - Jon is a "washed up rock star" and Sansa is a former Disney kid going for a darker sound (I got a bit of Olivia Rodrigo vibes). Sexy funny and the music references are on point. We're told their first kiss was to Fleetwood Mac, which is *chef's kiss*. Rating: Explicit
Like glitter and gold by kay25 - Jon is the bassist in a band led by Robb with Theon on keys and Gendry on drums. Sansa is a photographer who documents the band and this one-shot is worth it for the description of the images on the album cover alone. Rating: Explicit
Tangled up in blue by me (sorry for the self promotion, but there aren't a ton of stories that I could find in this AU space 😅). Jon is a struggling singer/songwriter who meets Sansa on the eve of her divorce and they have a Before Sunrise-inspired night on the streets of Chicago. A couple of years later, he's famous and his most famous song is about her. Rating: General audiences
For your consideration by @cellsshapedlikestars - WIP - Jon is in a band and Sansa is an actress. Before meeting, she innocently name-drops him to get out of a sticky interview moment, and he's not thrilled. Hijinks ensue but also the soft emotions of being young artists who want to be taken seriously. Rating: Teen and up audiences
And in the "Sansa is a musician of Taylor Swift-level fame but needs to hide out for a while" subgenre:
Across the universe by @cellsshapedlikestars - This is also a Doona! AU. I have never watched that but this fic makes me want to. Another excellent album cover description. Rating: Mature
All eyes on us by @theshipshipper - WIP - Social media AU (all visuals) that will have you in stitches and secretly rooting for Rickon and his crush. Rating: General audiences.

Ethel Cain, how long you wanted the songs to go on: 'until i felt the need to stop' - Bruce Springsteen: 'Jon Landau (producer and manager) helped me compress the song lengths for maximum impact. He told me longer was not always better; neither necessarily was shorter'
Bruce Springsteen: 'Jon (Landau, procuder and manager) had been to rehearsals in New Jersey and together we’d begun to edit some of our long, winding arrangements. We’d grown out of them. He’d helped me compress the song lengths for maximum impact. He told me longer was not always better; neither necessarily was shorter, but I’d caught the bug and Jon had to stop me before I took an ax to the classic intro and outro of “Backstreets.”'

The greatest
rock keyboardists (Part 1)
The 100 Greatest Rock Keyboardists and Pianists according to the Digital Dream Door edition
Criteria: These keyboardists were chosen for their skill, creativity, influence, expressiveness, musical depth and enduring popularity in rock music. (Keyboards include organ, synthesizer, mellotron, electric and acoustic piano).
A post about the top 25 musicians in the ranking. At the end there will be a list of those who took places after 25..
Keith Emerson
(Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Nice)
youtube
Keith Emerson is just a wizard of synthesizers, Hammond organ and piano! He shocked listeners first in his band The Nice, and then in the supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Emerson is the most unusual keyboard player in rock music. His sound is often different from other musicians, and he goes beyond the usual standards.
Keith Emerson succeeded in everything: a rock adaptation of classics from Mussorgsky, and a reinterpretation of the works of Aaron Copland. And even your own compositions. The most important thing is that he always added something of his own, special, so that each of his songs becomes unique. If you listen to "Pictures at an Exhibition" or "Tarkus", you'll realize that it's all thanks to Keith Emerson.
Rick Wakeman (Yes)
youtube
Wakeman is a true creator from the keyboard world, a genius who came up with his own approach to playing the synthesizer and thus paved his musical path. Rick's undeniable technicality combined with his innovation in combining electronic keyboards and orchestra and eventually resulted in an unforgettable musical extravaganza.
Rick Wakeman started out playing keyboards on early David Bowie songs, then for the first time vividly demonstrated his talent in the band Yes, recording three albums with it, not counting a couple of others after his return (one, "Fragile", not from the very beginning, and the other two - the gigantic and monstrous "Close to the Edge"and "Tales From Topographical Oceans" - from beginning to end). However, Rick stayed in Yes for a short time, as he did not get along with the rest of the characters, preferring to eat chicken more on stage during their long concert losses. Around the same time, Wakeman even managed to record a couple of synthesizer parts for the Black Sabbath album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". However, he revealed himself most fully further during the period of his solo work, each time never ceasing to surprise with more and more new discoveries.
youtube
Jon Lord (Deep Purple)
youtube
It is simply impossible to imagine Deep Purple music without John Lord's keyboards. Together with Richie Blackmore, they seemed to represent two independent musical principles, which were closely intertwined in almost every song and competed in the performance of their parts. But if Richie pressed with the pressure of riffs or the ferocity of solos, then John struck with the sophistication and ornateness of his Hammond organ playing.
The sound of his keyboards is definitely the benchmark for the sound of an electric organ in hard rock. Throughout his career (most of all, of course, during the time of the first Deep Purple line-up), Lord masterfully interweaved classical elements into his music, but also worked on his own unique style. And he did it more than successfully. It is unrealistic to listen to a song that Jon Lord took part in recording and not recognize his characteristic keyboards, even for those who are superficially familiar with music.
Ray Manzarek (The Doors)
Jim Morrison once said in an interview about his friend Ray Manzarek: if you want to see the main character in this band, then this is this guy; he is the real musical brain of The Doors. Indeed, if Morrison was the face of the band, its main poet, then Ray Manzarek was definitely the musical engine.
youtube
All the band's music was based on his keyboards. Not on guitar (with all due respect to Robbie Krieger), not on drums, but on keyboards. With his playing, Manzarek riveted from the very first seconds, and in terms of electric organ sound, he was probably the brightest figure of the 60s. His parts cannot be confused with anything else, moreover, there was no such unique keyboard player either before or after. His diverse playing could include both acid-psychedelic organ passages, about an eternity long, and light airy piano losses.
Ray's virtuosity is evidenced by the fact that at concerts, in the absence of a permanent bass player in the band, in addition to his main parts on the electric organ, he also led the bass part on the electric piano with his other hand. And this fact does not fit into my head.
Manzarek's long solos are generally a separate conversation. With their beauty, melodiousness and a certain hypnotic appeal, they have forever entered the golden fund of rock music heritage.
Later, the great improviser Ray Manzarek also played the Hammond C-3 organ.
Richard Wright (Pink Floyd)
youtube
The famous Pink Floyd keyboardist himself said to himself that he was self-taught and played the piano incorrectly, as it is "impossible" to play in professional circles. But what you definitely can't deny him is his own unique style. Probably, it was the lack of templates and frameworks that determined the formation of the sound characteristic of Rick Wright.
After all, who's to say that his musical contribution to Pink Floyd's work is bad? Yes, maybe Wright somehow interpreted the rules of keyboard playing in his own way. But his exquisite piano parts and beautiful synthesizer ripples are truly stunning! Not to mention that they have become an integral part of Pink Floyd's music.
Tony Banks (Genesis)
youtube
Genesis founder and keyboardist Tony Banks was behind many of its hits, playing in various genres such as progressive rock, pop and even classical music. Banks is known for using instruments such as Hammond organs, mellotrons, synthesizers, and pianos, each with their own distinctive sound, when Banks wanted to apply a different technique in his recordings and performances.
Starting with the first albums in 1969, he began using Hammond organs L-122 and T-102.
Billy Preston
youtube
Billy Preston is deservedly considered one of the greatest session keyboardists of the 1960s. American keyboardist, member of many solo and session projects with the most famous pop and rock artists since the 60s (with Ray Charles, Little Richard, Everly Brothers, The Beatles, George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Elton John. Billy also took part in the recording of the legendary Beatles album "Get Back". Billy Preston was one of the first to use the Hammond B-3 organ, playing soul, funk, rock, rhythm and blues and gospel styles. He has released 23 solo albums since 1963.
Rod Argent (Zombies, Argent)
Rod Argent founded the English rock band The Zombies in 1962, and after its breakup five years later founded his own band Argent. He was one of the creative collaborators of "Zombies", playing an important role in the lyrics of their songs. Argent is known for his preferences in choosing instruments, including the mellotron, harpsichord and organ.
youtube
Prefers to use the Hammond B-3 organ. Rod Argent's Hammond playing in the 1972 composition "Hold Your Head up" was rated by Rick Wakeman as the greatest organ solo in history.
youtube
Steve Winwood (Traffic)
To be continued....

LINK: A Robin's Song - Epilogue
A/N: i regret nothing >:)
Five Years Later
‘Deadline at 12:00 AM tonight, Kent.’ Jon fumbled with his keys, reading the email his boss had sent out and unlocking the door.
It opened to a small apartment, empty, with some photos spread around, and a framed Bachelor’s degree over the couch.
He dropped his briefcase on the kitchen counter, briefly tripping over a child’s toy. He sighed and picked up, setting it next to the briefcase.
The fridge was littered with pictures, a mix of hand drawn and printed ones. Jon stepped out, checking the clock on the wall before settling down on the couch. He had about an hour before he needed to go out again.
A sticky note was on his phone cover as he pulled it out and he played with it, briefly considering calling the number written on it. It was from some pink-haired guy in his chem lecture who’d given it to him a few hours ago.
He pulled it off and set it next to the picture frame holding a picture of his high school years, gaze lingering a bit too long on the figure next to him.
Where would he be now? Surely, if he had made it big, Jon would have heard his name somewhere.
He shook his head, trying to rid himself of this train of thought. But, after all, who could forget their first true love?
The phone lit up with a notification, and he swiped up, eyes brightening as he clicked on the banner.
It took him to a Q&A livestream of ROBIN, the only good thing he could remember from his last semester of high school that wasn’t tainted by memories of her, or painfully sweet scenes with the other half of his childhood.
Robin had on an oddly familiar green knit sweater and his usual green domino, and was smiling as he answered a fan’s question, a voice modulator over his normal talking voice.
“The domino mask was originally for anonymity, although now it's more of a trademark. If I do end up going to a concert, I might reveal my real face to you guys. Thanks for the question!”
Jon’s brow was furrowed, something felt oddly out of place in a way none of it had before. Robin chatted about various new songs he’d released, and then gave a sneak peek to his new one, per the chat’s request.
“This one’s sort of a throwback to my first song, which I'm sure most of you know very well. It’s titled If Only You Knew, and it…it’s really close to my heart, for reasons I'm sure you understand.”
A message popped up in the chat, other people latching onto it and repeating it, the chat a chorus of “Tell us about Heather!”
The soft chuckle sounded painful on video, and Jon leaned into his phone curiously, wanting to know himself. This song had come out after he’d let his own unrequited feelings bleed out, covering them up with new feelings for someone who returned them, and he’d listened to it more then he’d like to admit.
The filters came off the video, including the voice modulator.
“If I'm telling this story, I'd like to tell it as myself. Not with Robin’s voice.”
Some unbridled feeling of shock and fear cause Jon to gasp aloud and drop his phone, the familiar voice, deeper now with a note of tiredness, washed over him, jolting him back to high school, back to middle school, back even to elementary and that little town he’d grown up in.
Long forgotten memories dug themselves up and flooded his brain without his consent, tears he hadn't realized he was shedding dripped from his chin as he shakily picked up the phone and stared at who he had thought was long gone from his life.
He zeroed back in as Robin’s, no, Damian’s voice recounted the journey of his music, the way every single song had come from a moment that he’d experienced, or that they’d experienced together.
It was like reliving the whole experience through eyes that weren’t his own, tears pooling on his cheeks.
“After we…After I screwed everything over, he moved. I remember chasing after the stupid moving van and calling and calling and calling until I finally realized he blocked me.”
On-screen, he turned around and removed the domino, wiping his eyes, before plastering it back on and turning to his camera.
“I was a mess, for a little while. I won’t get into details, but it was not a fun time. I got help and stuff, and well, you guys know the rest.”
The chat was overflowing with messages, but the one that caught Jon’s eye was one that said “Do you miss him?”
It was selfish but he turned up the volume, desperate for an answer. He wanted to know as much as the rest of the fans, biting his lip until a metallic taste filled his mouth.
On screen, Damian inhaled deeply, eyes shut and voice wobbling. “In answer to Haylia_1654's question…yes. I miss him very much, and to this day I wish everything had gone much differently.”
“He was one half of my childhood, and I know that he’s doing well, as his little brother stayed close with one of mine. I wish him nothing but happiness, wherever he is and whoever he’s with.”
Jon’s chest was tight, the air being sucked out of his lungs with every little inhale.
His vision blurred, and before he realized what he was doing, he was typing out words onto the screen and sending them into the live chat.
Under the little diamond ‘S’ he’d made when he was in middle school to match Damian's ‘R’, and the username Jon_Kent, were the words “I miss you too”.
Desperation filled him and he repeated the message several dozen times, watching and waiting for Damian to take notice.
On-screen, the boy was drinking from a water bottle, and Jon silently documented the exact moment his eyes landed on the message, water spat out onto the screen as his whited-out eyes moved from side to side, re-reading the messages until the rest of the frantic chat covered them up.
“Oh my God, oh my God, please, please, please-” A flash of green knocked the phone to the floor and the last the world saw of “Robin” that day were the black tennis shoes he was wearing, stream cutting off as the camera hit the floor.
Heart pounding in his chest, Jon clicked on the profile, finger hovering over the message button.
He had long ago unblocked Damian’s old number, only to find that it was no longer in service.
Logically, this was the only way that they could get in contact. And he wanted to. Oh, how he wanted to, wished for best friend back, the now-stranger who knew all his secrets.
He trembled in his seat, clicking the button and watching the words telling him he’d started a new DM with ROBIN_Offical.
Taking a deep breath, he typed out a short message, waiting for the response bubbles to come dancing across his screen.
Jon_Kent
Hey, D
