Musical Extravaganza
Yesterday me and my cinematic partner in crime took the opportunity to get tickets for a special evening of "Musical Extravaganza" in our small local arthouse movie theater.
They were screening 2 classic "musical-ish" pieces. So for the interested people out there, if you're always keen on watching stuff both for the eyes and ears, I will share my experience under the cut.
Phantom of the Paradise
Tumblr media
USA 1974 Director: Brian de Palma Written by: Brian de Palma Camera: Larry Pizer Music: Paul Williams Cast: William Finley, Paul Williams, Jessica Harper, ...
youtube
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 / 5)
What a ride!!!
I, resp. we, absolutely L❤️VED it!!!
When I read "Brian de Palma", I was surprised, since I only know his later work, mostly Thrillers and Gangster movies.
This early work, however, is something...well...completely different, to put it mildly.
It's a wild mix of "Phantom of the Opera" with a liitle bit of "Dorian Gray" towards the end.
Everything in a wild 70s setting with awesome costumes and sets.
The music is brilliant and the whole staging is completely crazy with all actors being comitted to the bit.
I can absolutely recommend this one!!!
Streets of Fire
Tumblr media
USA 1984 Director: Walter Hill Written by: Larry Gross, Walter Hill Camera: Andrew Laszlo Music: Ry Cooder Cast: Michael Paré, Willem Dafoe, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, ...
youtube
Rating: ⭐ (1 / 5)
Ok. The euphoria of the first movie quickly subsided the longer the second one lasted, I am afraid.
Walter Hill is in my book known for rather hard actioners in the 80s and 90s and, honestly, besides of some music scenes in this one, it is really more an action movie, than a musical - and not a particularly good one at that.
The acting is really B movie quality. I really like what has become of young Diane Lane over the years, but this was not one of her proudest moments. The did good lip-sync on the singing scenes, but did not actually sing.
Michal Paré. One can clearly see, why he stayed a b-movie actor and never made it to the A list of that era. Apart from his handsome looks he basically switched between two facial expressions: stoic staring and wounded staring. His dialogs sounded like that voice announcing the next stop in trains and busses.
Rick Moranis was ok. Less geeky than usual but not really challenged by the meh script.
The only positive appearance was actually done by Amy Madigan.
She played the chummy ex-army gal with enough ease and made the best of her part.
The music was nothing special and sometimes a too wild mix of genres. Besides the opener, nothing really remained in my memory. Sad, since I normally like Ry Cooder's work. I guess he got better with age.
So, in sum, not really a recommendation. Neither as a musical, nor as an action movie.

god this little witch's jaunt or whatever tbe fuck taylor called this bouncy little song that played when we first met the council of elders as well as during this last vote is so fucking GOOD. i just resisted to the last few minutes 75% to relisten to the song. like the episode is so good the MOMENT is so good and it's SO well by this song it's PERFECT. like theres so many little discordant little sounds that swell and pull the melody away from each other (and also every instrument is so beautiful on their own but when they ALL play together?? the drums, the strings, the voices singing, the flutes, all of them together are SO incredible and powerful likeeee. it's SO good)

I started November with a dream, my friends. A dream and a blue page with white words and a bunch of zeroes. It was the dream of writing 8 words, 1 each for my existing WIPs.
And now, here on the last day of the month, I present to you...
Tumblr media
...success!
I ended up with a total of 1,408 words across 11 different fics! That might not seem like a lot until you consider the fact I haven't written really ANY words in a long while. So this really means a lot to me!
Now, I'm thrilled to announce my next exciting venture...
Tumblr media
Awwww, yeah, friends. This is gonna be LIT. Everybody who's anybody will be here, I can promise you that right now!
Tumblr media
Emile's flying in early JUST to get a good seat!
Tumblr media
All my Spartans will be making an entrance, you can be sure of that!
Tumblr media
Frank's bringing a gift!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Ryder twins are always ready to party!
Tumblr media
Eobard and Sara are toasting to my past and future successes! (And since they're time travelers, that seems to be a pretty good omen, right? 🤔😜)
Tumblr media
Frost and Nash will drink to that, too!
Anyway, now that I'm done raiding my GIF folders...
Tumblr media
...here's a big ol' hug from a li'l ol' me to say thanks for all of the encouragement! Love you, friends, and I hope you're doing great! 🤗🤗🤗

This week, it was confirmed that Moulin Rouge! Stockholm is coming back in September 2025 and becoming Moulin Rouge! Göteborg, so I drew a little picture to celebrate.
It's the same cast for almost all named roles, which of course makes me super happy, it is one of the best musical casts I've ever seen after all... but even so, unless my one true love the smiling moon prop also comes back, I will riot.

favourite thing about this season is the soundtrack, I think. I am so excited to hear We're Through this episode. I love watching Five kill people while Istanbul (Not Constantinople) plays in the background. I love listening to Kill of the Night when Five betrays the handler. I think they really got the songs right

the most fun thing about being under the trans umbrella is the name changes . whenever i make posts about me i would use "stories with asher" but now my names emmett . its actually so much fun bc i can see how long ive been on here . i dont remember the last time ive used the name asher but i still kept using it as my tag . no clue why but i kept it there . my first name was eren, then it was 2020 and i went down the noun for name rabbithole and it was fern, then i went to asher, then i started going by em in school (closest to b.n.) now im emmett because my friend grace started calling me emmett for fun and it sticked ! sometimes ill see friends who havent seen me in years and they'll call me asher and its HILARIOUS because its like a war flashback. i was crazy emo when i went by asher and now im fun and colorfull and silly and a major nerd! also i was obsessed with the lego movie as a kid and LOVED Emmet (first fixation) so . basically my life has made a full circle ! yay
beware of the yapping in the tags :3
#srry for rant i had to get it out there#sharing it with the class#its just . so fun#whimsical even#and whats even better is that life is great for me rn!#i finally have free time to hang out with my friends (marching bands over)#i convinced a middle schooler to join marching band as a mellophone!#adding to that#they liked the mellos vibe SO MUCH that me and my right hand man are meeting them at our local smoothie place to hang out#and teach them about marching band!#and!! we finally found out why i get so dizzy and pass out! we tested my blood sugar and came out with the conclusion that im#drumroll que#HYPOGLYCEMIC!#yay!!#like obviously not happy that i have it#but definitly glad we finally know whats wrong with me#also i think i forgot to mention that we met the middleschooler because 1) theyre friends with my brother whos in the same grade#and 2) it was a full marching band indoctrination of 8th grade band and orchestra kids#because our mb starts the summer before your freshman yesr#OH! and since the seasons over#symphonic orchestra is gonna start soon! its where the chamber orchestra(pretty much honors orchestra)#-and the most advanced band kids team up in an awsome afterschool extravaganza where we play awsome music#im first chair french horn in our wind ensamble(honors band lol) AND i was in it last year so im gaurnteed a spot!#im hoping the second horn (freshman who tried out for wind on trumpet but got in on horn) does good because the horns in the consert band...#theyre .. uhm... not the greatest.#we only have two horns in wind so im REALLY HOPING he doesnt get any horns from concert to play in aso#which he might do bc there was 4 horns last year#but also they were in wind#im just hoping he doesnt choose quantity over quality#emmett speaks!

crazy to me that m3gan is higher on rotten tomatoes than barbie. i guess some probably had it out for barbie from the start (and its far from a perfect movie), but as far as feminine, doll-based satire goes, m3gan is so blunt and basic and really not as good as i was hoping.

Medieval Tavern Music🎼Relaxing Ambience and Peaceful Melodies #medievaltavernmusic
Medieval Tavern Music🎼Relaxing Ambience and Peaceful Melodies - In this video, you can listen to the best examples of medieval tavern music. Immerse yourself in the depths of history, accompanied by a relaxing atmosphere and peaceful melodies. Don't miss this unique music experience Once upon a time, three medieval soldiers had returned home after a long battle. Tired and hungry, the soldiers decided to enter a tavern on the road. When they entered the door of the tavern, they encountered a warm atmosphere and the smell of delicious food. After the soldiers sat down at the table and ordered their meals, the owner of the tavern came up to them and greeted them. The soldiers thanked him and said that they had returned from the war and wanted to rest here. The owner of the tavern did not break their request and made them prepare their best meals. While the soldiers were having their meals, the musicians of the tavern began to play the most beautiful songs for them. During the hours they spent there that night, the soldiers forgot the weariness and pain of war. They felt peaceful and happy. The next morning, the soldiers thanked the tavern owner as they left the tavern. They told him that their time here was unforgettable. The owner of the tavern also wished them well and wished them success in their journey. This story shows the importance of taverns in the Middle Ages in people's lives. Taverns were a peaceful haven for people who wanted to escape the destructiveness of war. Thank you very much for listening. Enjoy relaxing, Sleeping, Meditation Music and have a wonderful day or evening! Relaxing Musıc ❤️🎼: https://bit.ly/3npb12h #MedievalTavernMusic #RelaxingMusic #LoFiInstrumental
