Hi Puts, seeing you have been busy with work since your return from the Japan trip. Hope you can take good care of yourself with the busy work schedule.
I saw your lately post about Keiko’s new album hasn’t been your taste of music. So I wonder what kind of song genres do you prefer the girls to sing in their solo. What’s your favourite solo songs of the girls?
For myself, I love ballads so Wakana’s solo music genre has always been my cup of tea. But seeing Keiko doing challenges with her alto tone on some many musical genres makes me wanna cheer for her too. Tbh I don’t really dislike her songs maybe becoz I just simply adore her voice. As for Hikaru, since I’m not a great fan of rock anime genres, so I’m not catching up with her latest music. If you have some recommendations of her songs, I’d love to know that too.
Sorry for such a long message. Hope it wasn’t to hard for you to read. Stay well and keep sharing the Kala-love around^_^
Hello there!
Thank you, I feel like I am slowly getting back into a routine.
I had a huge reply already written for this but then I must have accidentally clicked a stupid shortcut which deleted a huge wall of text from this post T_T Needless to say, I have zero motivation to go through it all again. I apologise in advance if this feels a little rushed, I’ll still try my best.
First of all, no worries, your message is perfectly fine and it's an interesting question. However, I will admit that I always struggle with these types of questions because I lack the necessary expertise to explain my preferences when it comes to certain music genres. I enjoy music solely on an intuitive and emotional level, it either makes me feel something or it doesn't, for the most part I tend to disregard the technical aspects. That’s not to say that I don’t have some basic requirements which determine whether or not I like a piece of music.
Generally speaking, structure is key. Anything that’s too chaotic, directionless or all over the place will make me incredibly antsy. However, music shouldn’t be too monotonous either, I love a good, natural buildup. To really get into the flow of something I need a smooth melody with some motifs thrown into the mix.
I am very attracted to classical and orchestral elements. Symphonic instrumentals, elaborate harmonies, dramatic melodies, operatic vocals, inject it all into my veins. That’s not to say that I don’t appreciate other types of music as well. In fact, I have always had a weakness for 80s and 90s pop but that’s neither here nor there.
Vocal-wise, I gravitate most towards warm, mature and emotionally rich singing voices. I typically find high-pitched and youthful/childlike voices quite annoying.
Having said all that, I can’t really tell you my genre preferences when it comes to the girls. I just want their songs to have a good structure with a somewhat sizeable section that’s pleasing to my ears. Ideally, I would have them use a singing style that highlights their talents and doesn’t make their voice sound too grating. Keiko’s 3rd album accomplishes none of those things which is why I have a bit of an aversion to it. In all honesty, it feels like a big chaotic mess o me.
Just like you I have a strong passion for ballads but I don’t really want them to stick to a specific type of song. Especially considering that many of their solo ballads don’t even appeal to me.
For example, I am absolutely obsessed with Keiko’s “Toori Ame”, “ I quite enjoy “Inochi no Hana” but I couldn’t care less about songs like “Hitori Janai Kara” or “Revolution”. While Wakana’s debut power ballad “Toki wo Koeru Yoru ni” hits me right in the feels and her equally enchanting “breathing” gives me goosebumps, the seemingly epic “magic moment” doesn’t do anything for me. Let’s not even talk about her slower pieces like “Nagareboshi” which I simply find too bland. With Hikaru it’s incredibly hard to pick ballads I like because at some point they have all started to sound the same to me but I definitely love her “Kawaisou da yo” and “midnight”.
As for general favourites, here’s a list of all the solo songs I repeatedly listen to (in order of their release):
Wakana:Toki wo Koeru Yoru ni, Kinmokusei, Yakusoku no Yoake, Ai no Hana, Kioku no Hito, Koi wa Itsumo, breathing, 442, Myself, Happy Hello Day, Toki ni wa Mukashi no Hanashi wo, Inochi no Namae, Get Wild Hikaru: Avaricia, yolcu, Fili, 空-Look Ahead, disclose, midnight, Determination, Kawaisou da you, Kanashii Kedamono, Ambient Border Keiko: Inochi no Hana, Nanairo no Finale, Toori Ame, Nobody Knows You, Lost, Yoru no Uso to
Obviously, I can recommend all of these to you. I like some of their other stuff too but these ones I actively seek out

Maniac Ramblings of an Antimai Enjoyer
Hi hihHhii okay so. I (one of the ops of this account) did a sin called going on Twitter and doom scrolled for around 3 hours because I didn’t want to do my essay in like December last year. I have been seething for a month now with the Twitter’s cruelness to Antimai so I am now going to crucify myself in the name of Antimai. Or… here is my opinion/review of Antimai. BY NO MEANS IS THIS AN OFFICAL REVIEW!! (it's also barely peer read, it really is ramblings)
Basic rankings:
C - LoTown.
B - Poverty, Industry, Luxury and Nature.
A - Middle Class and Patrol.
S- Tower.
The whole album opinion
Love this album. I’m one of the newbies to The Dear Hunter, so this was the first full album I listened to (maybe Act V first? I don’t remember). I thought it was incredibly groovy and I love the concert/brass instruments when done correctly - which it definitely was here! I love a mixture of genres, pace and themes in music too, Antimai hitting all of those boxes very nicely. One of my favourite things to think about for this album is the pronoun usage, but that is because I’m incredibly excited for Sunya and like to look to see what narrative could be transferred over to the next album. My overall rating? Like 9/10, I would never do my dishes without Antimai. It only loses one point because I can never escape Patrol.
Ring 8 - Poverty
Preface for all the other songs, Imma say they all SLAP me real good, love them, 10/10. Poverty, while I don’t find any absolute melting love for the lyrics alone, the way they are set up is honestly brain melting. I highly enjoy how the song flows, especially the chorus with the instrumental, some gnarly music mixin’ there and I tip the hat to the funny dear men for that one. The music alone however, is something to appreciate fully. I always thought the tone of the music did not match the tone of the lyrics and that was odd to me - am I mad about it? No :). I love how jazzy and involuntarily dancy the music is and I can’t help but do a lil boogie… even if I’m on the edge of a mental breakdown from having to read my fourth short story in 3 days!
Ring 7 - Industry
Pretty whacky boy here. It gives a good idea of how important technology is to Antimai though - since there is a whole ring dedicated to industrial business. I am incredibly neutral on the actual sound of this song? I can say I do enjoy it when I listen to it, but I don’t always pull an experience from it like I do with some of the other tracks on this album. One thing I always remember is how much I love the delivery of the line “you were up in the pantheon,” it brings me joy and I don’t know why, let me live in brain rot I beg. This song lore wise is very important for setting up the rest of the album. Middle class, Patrol and Luxury wouldn’t have the same level of understanding if we lacked Industry. In conclusion on this one since my thoughts on it is clearly a disorganised mess, I think it has a very nice sound to it, still down to get funky with the sound and it’s a doormat for the rest of the album to welcome you in.
Ring 6 - LoTown
My least favourite out of the whole album. Doesn’t mean I hate it, just kinda?? Wow?? Farm people?? Epic?? Slammin trumpets though and the held note at the end is executed immaculately. I am obviously a biassed person and I’ll admit I have a slight bias against slower songs - that could be why it is marked so low in my mind. One kudo I will give to this song is the build-up and release between verses-chorus, always makes a song so much more enjoyable when some dynamic spice is added.
Ring 5 - Middle Class
I love this song to death, I have one gripe with it. It scares the ever living shit out of me whenever it randomly comes on when I have shuffle on. This song is a fresh ass gold mine when it comes to analysing lyrics. Almost all of the lyrics in this song have double meanings and important shards of lore that we need to put together to truly uncover what Antimai is. For literal, in world meanings, the Middle Class lets us see into the culture of Antimai directly; we get insight on how the religion functions in practice, the exploitation of it and the labour of all the people below Ring 5. For the double meaning and reflection on the real world, it can apply to a lot of the middle class people who are living in some form of comfortable privilege. The music to the song is also just a full jam session so it’s always a funky little time when that part comes around, love the grooves!!
Ring 4 - Patrol
If I could meet God face to face, full eye contact I would ask one thing only. To be freed of the beginning riff of this accursed song. I could be in full meltdown sobbing time and this stupid song comes on and I feel the scraps of amusement I can muster taking over my body in the form of the happiest disappointment. Most people feel it is a very “slap you in the face” type of song. The lyrical meanings are literally thrown at your feet, and it’s not much of a analytical exercise in regards to theme, but I forgive it because I feel as though I’m in a 80s-90s mall and the damn mall cop is following me around because I have the audacity to wear a backpack into Winners or something. The song does however finally introduce one of the biggest themes of Antimai - which is p o w e r !!!! and subsequently, the power of power (in regards to corruption). I think using an officer going down this path as the literary tool to display this is a smart move - especially in the language switch between choruses. While this individual has gained power, they also lost their identity, only referring to themself as “we” towards the end. Great song, love that stupid melody even if it does haunt me when I’m trying to focus in my grown up college classes.
Ring 3 - Luxury
The absolute unit of this song. The power it holds in single handedly parting this fandom like its the red sea. I am on the side of … it’s alright? I can slightly agree with a lot of the people not enjoying the first part of luxury (Hall of the Guides?? I guess?). I however, think a fast paced, word vomiting verse is very fitting for the people Casey is trying to show us. These people (more like… gross “not snails or robots” things)... are horrible, they have no regard for the safety of the people below them. A rap is perfect for a type of meeting between people who plan to dilute themselves further into a greedy madness - any other type of genre would feel too slow or soft. To me the chorus of the first part also slaps hard and I wanna boogie to it. The second part is where things look up in my opinion. I love the smoothness that contrasts the first part - while still egotistical and straight discriminatory towards the lower classes, it presents itself differently; The way the lyrics are sung almost remind me of how the lyrics in Tower seem to flow into each other. Personally I have not analysed The Cream of the Crop too much lyrically, I just really love that one small part just before the outro cha-cha slide like imposter… I can’t help but feel like I have my head out of a window, moving at rapid speeds and going somewhere!! Where?? IDK!! The lyrics tell me not to!! (Add-on, also interesting at the use of very aggressive cussing?? The dear boys don’t use that language too often in the music, so it’s a little important to show how these not snail or robot things just really suck ass.)
Ring 2 - Nature
oooOOoohoh talking treeesssss,,.,. I do love this song though. It is short and sweet compared to the unit of the last song, but it tells the story it needs to tell. This one I’m focusing more on the tone of music and the thematic importance of this song. Nature definitely really fits the theme it laid down for itself. The music feels like I’m in a forest or some prairie type setting and a feeling of belonging and harmony (especially at the beginning), it’s just a cozy song! The theme is the key importance to this song however, explaining the nature of humans and how we exploit resources for unjustified reasons. I argue this song is very peaceful for the most part, but I swear this song hosts the most menacing line to ever exist. The outro is very well done, but the lyrics and how they are sung feels definitely like there is a horrible, ominous presence above them - and it will hurt you. IT IS NOT NO WORRIES AND THERE IS NO LAUGHTER. Considering what bitch we’re about to be introduced to, I say it’s a good vibe to end it on.
Ring 1 - Tower
So when I first listened to Tower on July like… fourth, I have been consumed. My immediate impression was that this lil rich kid singing to me right now was trying to be a Regina George wannabe and writing his unchecked power high in his dream diary with a pink gel pen with a fuzzy pom-pom on the end of the pen, probably owns some rare monster high collectable dolls or something. I am incredibly biassed when it comes to loving this song - I am weak in the knees to queer coded villains and this man was oozing and dripping LGBTQIA+ vibes - while simultaneously seeming like the biggest homophobe ever - I beg of you to relisten to Tower with the lens of queer, no one says power like that who isn’t into BDSM. Moving on past bashing the emperor of Antimai viciously, the song itself is important thematically - as well as the way the song sounds. Tower is already a song built off of an important motif from The Indigo Child - which already makes me think we have an argument behind the abuse of religion and the abandoning (?? in some places ??) of religion (in some people) back to either this current Emperor or others before him (I am referencing verse 3 mostly). I also see this song as a slight foil to other songs, as mentioned in a review done by another person (James Fenny) It has a very different sound than the rest of them. The other songs use brass and concert instruments as the main sound, while Tower is almost solely based in synths - excluding the outro. It could not be important to any overall story, but I do think that fact is quite neat and it makes me love Tower a little more… it stands out musically and literally.

my opinion on irl/vlogging stuff is that it's going to be big for a few months, alongside the dream smp (see june-august/september probably) then start falling off and then turning into a regular thing on youtube that's alongside gaming content. we might get less streams during that time but i think around october or november things are going to shift back into more gaming and streaming-focused (especially with winter), with vlogs on the side as well (i can see a biweekly schedule for a lot of people, that shifts into weekly during warm periods). i could also see people getting burnt out on vlogs very easily when compared to gaming and variety content, however i do thing irl streams where people just mess around in their houses/backyards (like tommy has does) could become more and more commonplace. i also don't think another smplive/dream smp level big smp will show up for a while, however smaller smps might become more commonplace for people to just mess around on (see 3rd life smp, origins smp, etc) and roleplaying on different games might also get a boost (or the return of more aphmau-style minecraft roleplays in general). i also am imagining at least 2-3 attempted and failed music careers and/or just releasing one song (sorry about the length i have a lot of thoughts on the future of twitch and youtube)
dude I could talk about this topic for ages this is my shit I love you
*this is all sbi and co related, dteam career stuff is a whole other ballgame that I love to talk about but I'll limit myself to them
honestly? I agree. for all that I'm happy tommy's really excited to vlog, I just don't think it'll live up to the hype for more than a few months unless he dramatically changes his style. the main draw of his vlogs (and other sbi people) is the high, exciting energy, and seeing him and his friends irl together. but can he maintain that? eventually it'll be normal to see him and tubbo together, and he won't be able to keep up that kind of energy constantly. they have diminishing returns, each one gets slightly less hype.
the only person I could see being good at actual consistent vlogging and making their content very central to it is niki- she's very aesthetically similar to the sub-genre of chill daily vlogging that I really like rn (annika's leaf, linh troung, leah's field notes, etc), and I think people could latch onto that. if wilbur ever sits down and seriously decides to do travel vlogs, based off his deleted one, he could find serious success there too (but he could find serious success in pretty much any field imo lol).
as for the dream smp's longevity, it really depends on if wilbur and tommy decide to pick up the story again to finish off their arcs. as much as I appreciate the other writers, the story never quite moves like it does without at least one of them driving it, for a variety of reasons. I think quackity might burn himself out with this high production lore stuff by setting standards higher and higher, tbh. I hope we get to see some sort of resolution for every character via people coming together to give it a nice ending, but the days of daily lore streams and l'manburg are over unless someone picks up the story and starts running. could it happen? absolutely, but like I said, I think tommy and especially wilbur are the only ones who could pull that off. wilbur's like a gravity well for projects, he tends to be the one pouring the life in them, if that makes sense (rust, smpearth, soothouse, etc).
from there, I pretty much agree with you as to what's going to happen to non-smp content. I think either sbi and co will stay together as friends but it's going to split off content wise more than it already has, or they're all going to move near each other and stick even closer together (probably in brighton). once again, wilbur has said he's not just gonna leave the internet, but how much he streams and stays involved is going to be a deciding factor here, as well as how quickly/if lovejoy gets popularity outside of mcyt. (Ik this is full wilbur simp mode but genuinely he's the lynch pin of the friend group in a way, and he and tommy organize most projects). mcc is a constant.
feel free to send more asks I love this topic
#asks#spoon rambles#< new tag for long winded tangents that don't really fit in mcyt tags#future talk

Big Life in a Small Town (Part 1)
A/N: This is based on the song "Santa Fe (Prologue)" from the Newsies musical! It's not based on the plot of the musical. The song will be altered a tad, but not too much! In the next part though, I'll have to do some edits. But for now, you've got this... mess? I dunno, I'm writing this before it's done. This is post-X-men Apocalypse, so Peter is in his late 20's.
Genre: Bittersweet fluff
Warnings: alcohol, drinking, mentions of broken limbs, daddy issues, no beta reader, minimal editing
Word count: 1.3k (1,385 words)
The X-mansion was quiet, the cool midnight air only changing currents occasionally when a silver blur sprinted around.
Pietro had his younger brother in his arms, running around. Peter injured his leg a while ago, stuck on crutches. ANd it was killing the young speedster.
And Pietro noticed.
So he scooped his younger brother up out of his room, running him around the mansion's vast yard until he smiled. That's when he brought him up to one of the rooftop balconies of the mansion.
The two siblings weren't the only ones in their family who lived in the mansion. Pietro's twin, Wanda, was fast asleep, her room near the balcony.
Pietro, as immature as he may seem, was wise beyond his years. He'd seen more things than he ever would have wanted to for a 35-year-old man. Hell, anyone would be unsettled when you find your mother died of sickness, and your father was out of the picture when your younger brother was born a few years after.
Pietro and Peter sat on the balcony, a case of beer between the two, a sudden scoff came from the older speedster.
"What's up, you alright?" Peter asked, looking at his brother.
Pietro's eyes were glued to the ground below them, a sour expression on his face.
"Those streets down there," Pietro began, a dry laugh leaving his lips. "They sucked the life right out of our old man. Well, they aren't doing that to me."
Peter pursed his lips, watching as his older brother took a swig of his beer.
Pietro has always hated staying in one place for too long. The mansion hadn't really ever been his favorite place. Staying at their aunt's house in D.C. was something he looked forward to every summer. But, even then, he could only stay there for a few days before needing to go somewhere else. Not just from his need to move, but the U.S. government still wasn't absolutely fond of mutants.
"But everyone wants to come to New York," Peter let out a small chuckle. To an outsider, it'd sound like he was in disbelief, but he understood how Pietro felt.
Staying in one place was hard. But Peter also managed to make himself a family here at the mansion as he grew up. He met the ever-sweet Jean Grey when he was 20 years old. The poor girl had some trauma that no one but Chuck knew about. He got to meet Hank, and Raven, and all of the other younger kids. He thought of them all as his younger siblings.
He couldn't leave.
"You keep your small life in the big city. Give me a big life in a small town."
Pietro's words snapped Peter out of his thoughts, looking to his older brother. Pietro's eyes had lifted from the ground, looking up to the sky.
"They say folks are dying to get here."
"What about you, Piet?"
"Me? I'm dying to get away... to a little town out west that's spankin' new," Pietro said with a grin. "And while I've never been there, I can see it clear as day! If you want, I bet you, you could see it, too.
Peter has always had a particular question on his mind, that he always knew the answer to.
Then why haven't you gone? What's stopping you?
But, as always, Peter kept his mouth shut. He didn't want Wanda and Pietro to leave, as dumb as it may be. They were the only family he had left. Well, that he knew of and that knew of him.
Erik was another person he'd address when he had the courage.
But not...
Not now.
"Close your eyes."
Peter looked at his brother again, who was staring back at him. Honestly, he was waiting for his brother to snap in his face and use what became his favorite phrase after a few movie nights: "Hello, McFly?"
"Come with me, where it's clean and green and pretty, and they went and made a city out of clay."
Clay? A city out of clay? That sounds... odd. Peter hasn't stayed too long in other parts of the world, opting to stick to the Northeast area of the U.S. Occasionally, he'll go further South or a little bit further West. But never past Kansas.
"Why, the minute that you get there, folks will walk right up and say, 'Welcome home, son. Welcome home to Santa Fe!'"
Being called son was something the Maximoff boys wanted more than they would ever elude to. Their father? Out of the picture for the most part, up until they realized he was a terrorist. And he didn't even know about Peter.
Of course, the townsfolk of Santa Fe may not call you "son" as soon as you land on the premise. But, two bastard sons can dream, can't they?
"Planting crops. Splitting rails. Swapping tales around the fire," Pietro's grin grew as he spoke. He really thought about this a lot, didn't he? "Except for Sunday when you lie around all day."
Peter didn't know how much Pietro truly thought about leaving. Pietro's mind was full of places to go and see, places where he could take his family and live without having to deal with attacks from the U.S. government.
Santa Fe was where they'd go next in the U.S., but Sokovia was certainly the next best option. The U.S. government wouldn't come looking for them in Sokovia.
Right?
"Soon your friends are more like family, and they're begging you to stay! Isn't that neat?" Pietro asked as Peter took a large sip from his beer. "Living sweet in Santa Fe."
Pietro trailed off, almost in a dream-like state, making Peter flinch. He really fucking wanted out, huh?
"Hey, no one worries about a bad leg in Santa Fe. You just hop on a palomino, you'll ride in style!" Pietro joked, knocking his shoulder into his brother's.
"Feature me, ridin' in style," Peter giggled, taking a swig of his beer again.
"Hey, I bet a few months of clean air, you could toss that crutch for good!"
"Santa Fe," Peter and Pietro mumbled in unison, one happy and the other more tired. "You can bet, we won't let those bastards beat us. We won't beg anyone to treat us fair and square. There's a life that's worth the living, and I'm gonna do my share."
"Work the land, chase the sun." Pietro ran his hands through his hair, standing up.
"Swim the whole Rio Grande just for fun!" Pietro and Peter shouted together. The two had massive grins spreading across their faces, just happy to see the other smiling.
"Watch me stand!" Peter stood up quickly, only to feel a sharp pain jolt through his bad leg. His hands flew to the balcony railing, gripping it tightly as he let out a choked noise of pain.
"Watch me run..."
Pietro frowned when he saw his brother's grimace, watching Peter set himself down into a sitting position. The poor kid was gritting his teeth and sucking in harsh breaths as he set himself down.
"Hey, hey..." Pietro began softly, sitting down beside his brother before slapping a hand on his shoulder. "Don't you know that we're a family?"
Peter's eyes met Pietro's, painting over his grimace with a weak grin. "Yeah, b--"
"Would I let you down?" Pietro asked.
Peter let out a weak laugh as his brother continued.
"No way. Just hold on, kid, until that train makes Santa Fe."
The younger speedster let out a yawn, leaning his head on his brother's shoulder.
"Let's get you to bed, okay?" Pietro said, only getting a nod from Peter.
Pietro scooped his younger brother up in his arms, speeding through the mansion into Peter's room before setting him down.
"Good night, Peter."
"Good night, Pietro."
Pietro sped out of Peter's room, only to be stopped when he passed Wanda's room. His sleepy twin gave him a look, one that he didn't see often, and it concerned him.
"Pietro, we're being called to Sokovia," Wanda whispered sleepily.
"What? Why? All three of us?"
"No. Peter needs to stay here. He's got a broken leg, Pietro. Just you and I."
Pietro took in a quick breath before nodding.
"When do we leave?"
"... you didn't see that coming..."
A/N: Haha, cliffhangers are fun, ain't they? Okay, but, here's what you have for now! The other one is already in my drafts, and I've got plans for that! So, I'll get all that shit out, and we'll be good! I've got so much shit in my drafts, holy shit. Okay, uh... I don't have much to say, so thank you for reading! I don't necessarily have a tag list for this sort of stuff, so if you want to be on a tag list, let me know! And please let me know if you find a typo or something that doesn't make sense. Like I said, there's minimal editing.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!! I know its been forever since I posted a request and I'm getting to work on all of them. For now...
Here's a Jussy x Cooper request
Poppy, Branch, and the rest of the Snack Pack were on their way towards Vibe City for a get-together party. It was true that the funk trolls could’ve gone to each tribe themselves to pick them up, but the other tribes had assured them that they didn’t need to go through all that trouble. The leaders and small groups from each tribe were going, and the Snack Pack would’ve gotten there sooner if it weren’t for what Branch spotted falling from the sky.
“Guys, wait. What is that?” Branch asked, pointing at the falling figure.
“I can’t tell from here, it’s really far away.” Biggie said.
“Wait, it looks closer than I thoug-”
“OH MY GOD! It’s a troll!” Smidge freaked out. A troll fell down from the sky and landed somewhere in the forest not too far away from them. The Snack Pack raced to find the troll to make sure they weren’t hurt.
“Where did she come from?!” Poppy exclaimed when they found her. “Is she…alive?” Branch checked her over. Mr. Dinkles made a sound.
“Oh yes! You’re right, Mr. Dinkles! I will give her the kiss of life!” Biggie said and started to lean down.
“Wait no!” Satin and Chenille held him back with their hair.
“I don’t think that’s necessary, buddy!” DJ Suki said as she and Fuzzbert tried to push him back.
“Hey guys, relax. She’s breathing.” Branch said. The troll’s eyes fluttered open.
“Hey, are you okay? You fell from really high up!” Poppy exclaimed.
“Oh, I uh…” The troll looked confused and lost for a moment before snapping back to reality.
“Yeah! Yeah, I’m feeling great actually! My name is Jussy.” Jussy held out her hand.
“My name is Queen Poppy.” Poppy said as she shook Jussy’s hand and helped her up. “Also, this is Branch, Biggie, Mr. Dinkles, Guy Diamond, Tiny Diamond, Satin, Chenille, Dj Suki, Legsly, Smidge, and Fuzzbert!” Poppy introduced them all.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you all.” Jussy said.
“By the way, we were heading to a party back in Vibe City, wanna come with us?” Poppy asked.
“Uh, yeah!” Jussy nodded.
“Come on, then. Let’s go!” Poppy grabbed Jussy’s hand and started running.
“Guys wait we don’t even-” Everyone else ignored Branch and started running too. “Know where she…came...from nevermind.” Branch rolled his eyes and started to pick up the pace.
Everyone kept running until they came to a river where a raft was waiting for them.
“Well itz bout time you showed up!” Dickory exclaimed.
“Dickory, we’ve only been waitin five minutes.” Hickory smirked.
“Hmph.” Dickory crossed his arms. The group got on the raft and started floating down the river.
“Why the raft?” Jussy asked.
“Well, when we float down the river far enough, the Funk Trolls will be able to pick us up and bubble us up into Vibe City!” Poppy explained.
“They use bubbles to get us into their UFO thing.” DJ Suki said.
“Oh, that’s so cool!” Jussy clapped in excitement. The group chattered for a while until they got to the pick-up point.
“So, Jussy, which tribe are you from?” Poppy asked.
“Tribe? Oh…I’m uh…not from any of the tribes.” Jussy said.
“Really? Okay then, you can be our guest of honor!” Poppy said.
“Cool!” Jussy cheered. The bubbles came down all around them and pulled them up into Vibe City.
~Somewhere in Vibe City~
Cooper was finally done getting ready for the party after putting on his silver rings in his dreadlocks and brushing out his fur and tinsel. His parents had already gone out onto the stage, but his brother was still with him to help him figure out the rings.
“And that’s it!” Prince D said after putting in the last ring. “Looking sharp, Coop!”
“Thanks, D!” Cooper thanked him.
“Now come on, mom and dad are already on stage!” D said and led Cooper to the stage. One of the funk trolls’ instruments had been broken, so the music wasn’t able to start yet. Cooper took this extra time to meet up with his friends.
“Hey, Cooper!” Poppy waved and ran up to him.
“Hi, Poppy!” Cooper ran towards her too. They met in the middle and gave each other a big hug. Everyone else except one joined in on the hug.
“We missed you, Cooper!” Satin exclaimed.
“It’s been a while!” Legsly said.
“Pop village hasn’t been the same without you.” Branch said.
“Nice seein ya again.” Hickory smiled.
“Aw, guys! I missed you too!” Cooper said as they all parted from the big group hug.
“Oh! Oh! Oh! Cooper, I want you to meet someone!” Poppy said, jumping up and down. “We met her on our way here! I want you to meet, Jussy!” Everyone moved out of the way so that Cooper could see her.
“Hi!” Jussy waved excitedly. Cooper felt his heart skip a beat as soon as he saw her. She was the most beautiful troll he’d ever seen. A dark blush was forming on his face, he wasn’t sure if his lungs were working right. Even his legs were frozen.
“EARTH TO COOPER!” Branch wildly waved his hands in front of Cooper’s face.
“Wha- huh?” Cooper asked.
“You completely spaced out, you okay bro?” Prince D asked.
“Y-Yeah. I’m fine.” Cooper said, the blush fading a little bit.
“Well then, let’s get Partying! Ow! Ow!” Poppy cheered and skipped towards the stage. Cooper turned back to Jussy, barely keeping himself from getting lost in her eyes.
“SO! I-I mean…uh…So…what-where. WHICH tribe are you from?” Cooper asked her.
“I’m not from any tribe.” Jussy said, walking alongside him as they walked towards the stage.
“Oh. S-So you’re like a…solo…troll? Like Smooth Jazz Chaz? I mean not like Smooth Jazz Chaz but like-as in-not his music. I don’t have anything against smooth jazz! I mean…the others probably do. Not that I’m saying it’s a bad music genre! I-I just…” Cooper trailed off when he heard Jussy chuckling.
“Y-Yeah. I’m a solo troll I guess.” Jussy shrugged.
“Cooper! We gotta go come on!” Darnell called him.
“I’m coming! I’ll see you in a bit.” Cooper said.
“Okay, see ya.” Jussy smiled and waved at him as he walked away. Cooper blushed again seeing her smile and accidentally tripped over his own feet. He blushed harder in embarrassment and ran to the stage.
~Later~
Quincy and Essence almost immediately noticed how flustered Cooper was around the new troll. They decided to let Cooper go off stage to hang out with her after Darnell made a comment about it. She seemed nice enough.
“Hey, Cooper! Not singing anymore?” Poppy asked.
“Nope! H-have you seen Jussy anywhere?” Cooper asked, looking around to see if he could spot her himself.
“Yeah. She’s right over there.” Poppy pointed over to where Jussy was getting a drink. “Wait, why do you wanna kno-”
“Thanks Poppy!” Cooper cut her off and started speed-walking towards Jussy.
“What was all that about?” Branch asked as he walked up to her with a drink in each hand and handed her one.
“I don’t know.” Poppy took a small sip of her drink. After a few seconds she gasped and ended up choking a little.
“Woah, are you okay?” Branch asked worriedly.
“Yeah! I’m fine. I just realized it! Cooper has a crush on her!” Poppy squealed.
“Wha- really?” Branch asked.
“Yeah! Isn’t that sweet?” Poppy smiled widely.
“I guess so. But with how he was stuttering and literally tripping over himself earlier, I don’t know how he’s gonna talk to her now.” Branch asked.
“I know what to do!” Poppy’s face lit up and she started running towards the stage.
“Poppy? Poppy! What are you doing?!” Branch called out and chased her.
“H-Hi, Jussy.” Cooper was still a blushing and stuttering mess.
“Hi, Cooper!” Jussy smiled at him excitedly. Cooper was almost starting to wish she would stop so that he could just breath normally. He did his best to get himself together and put together an actual sentence.
“I hope you’ve been enjoying yourself. A-As one of the princes of Funk I want to make sure everyone is having fun.” Cooper said nervously.
Okay, going good so far.
“Yeah, I’m having a lot of fun! I just feel like a bit of a stranger…so it’s a little awkward.” Jussy shrugged and laughed. Cooper himself started feeling a little awkward.
Oh shoot.
“Oh! Looks like Poppy got them to change the music.” Jussy pointed towards the stage. Cooper turned around and spotted Prince D high-fiving Poppy. The music had been changed to a love song.
~with D and Poppy~
“Great idea you two, hopefully Cooper gets the message.” Prince D said.
“No problem, he’s also our friend, we’re happy to help.” Branch nodded.
“I already ship them, I hope this works!” Poppy squealed.
“Cooper is a lot like mom, so even if he was tripping over himself earlier, he’s probably got himself together by now.” Prince D smiled.
~Back with Cooper and Jussy~
Cooper smiled knowingly. He silently thanked them for this chance and held his hand out to Jussy.
“You don’t have to feel like a stranger around me. Wanna dance?” Cooper started blushing again. Jussy was blushing too.
“Absolutely.” Jussy accepted his hand. Cooper did his best to keep his breathing under control despite his quick-beating heart.
Wise men say,
Only fools rush in.
But I can’t help, falling in love with you.
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin,
if I can’t help falling in love with you?
Cooper couldn’t relate more to those lyrics right now. He barely met her today and she had him wrapped around her finger.
Like a river flows,
surely to the sea.
Darling, so it goes,
some things are meant to be.
Cooper took a deep breath and spun Jussy around. He gathered up the courage to sing as well.
“Take my hand, take my whole life too. For I can’t help falling in love with you.” Cooper continued dancing with Jussy and kept spinning her around, making her laugh. “Like a river flows, surely to the sea. Darling, so it goes, some things are mean to be.” Cooper loved the sound of her laugh. “Take my hand, take my whole life too. For I can’t help falling in love with you.”
I can’t help…falling in love with you.
Even after the party was over, Cooper and Jussy promised that they’d meet up again soon. Jussy didn’t think that Cooper would visit the next day.
~The very next morning~
“Hey, Jussy! Rise and shine, sleepyhead!” Poppy shook Jussy awake. Since Jussy didn’t have her own pod, Poppy let Jussy sleep over in her’s.
“Oh, good morning.” Jussy yawned and stretched.
“Get ready I have a friend I want you to meet!” Poppy jumped up and down excitedly.
“Really? I thought I met everyone yesterday.” After the party, Poppy had shown Jussy all over Pop Village and introduced her to almost every troll.
“There’s still one left, I accidentally forgot.” Poppy shrugged.
“Oh, okay. Just give me a minute.” Jussy got up and started getting ready.
A little bit later, Poppy led Jussy to the other side of the village. Jussy noticed that they had walked very well far from any of the pods and it seemed that they were heading out of the village.
“Where exactly is this friend of yours?” Jussy asked.
“Well…she doesn’t exactly consider me a friend.” Poppy shrugged. “But we still talk sometimes. She’s a hunter and a designer. When she was little, she promised to make a special outfit for each and every troll. Satin and Chenille called her out when she learned to make clothes and forgot her promise. She dedicated herself to her goal just to spite them. When she heard about you, she asked me to bring you to her so that she could make you something too.” Poppy explained.
“Oh! Well that’s nice of her.” Jussy smiled. The two kept walking until they reached a tree. Poppy pushed a bush to the side to reveal a small door.
“We’ll have to crouch down to get in, she’s still working on making the doors bigger.” Poppy said. Jussy got on her knees and crawled through. The door led to a small tunnel that was just as small as the door. There wasn’t any light, so she kept blindly going for a few minutes before she suddenly started falling. Jussy let out a scream and kept falling for a few seconds before she landed on a big pile of cotton. Poppy landed next to her, laughing and giggling like a child.
“Poppy! What did I tell you about using that entrance? Its easier to enter through Branch’s bunker.” A voice said.
“But it’s a lot more fun this way! Also, this is Jussy. Jussy, meet Abstract.” Poppy introduced her. Jussy rolled off of the pile of cotton and looked up at the troll that was towering over her intimidatingly. She was a sky-blue troll with pink hair and pink markings on her shoulders and a pink techno troll on her chest. There were pink markings on her ears and freckles that covered most of her face. Abstract stared at Jussy with a glare and leaned down. For a moment, Jussy thought Abstract was about to hurt her, especially with the way she was showing her fangs.
“I’m sorry, I don’t have the best vision. I broke my glasses last week and I can’t find my contacts. I’ll be right back.” Abstract sighed and walked away.
“What…huh?” Jussy turned to Poppy, extremely confused.
“What?” Poppy asked.
“I…she…” Jussy pointed in the direction Abstract had left. Poppy kept staring at her for a few seconds before she understood.
“OOH! You thought she was going to hurt you? No, no, no. She looks different compared to all the other pop trolls, but she’s still one of us. She naturally gives off that scary vibe cause of her eyes, fangs, and hunter instinct. But she never has and never will hurt a troll no matter what. That’s a promise she never forgot.”
“HAH! I FOUND THEM!” Abstract came back running and got a better look at Jussy without glaring at her.
“Okie let’s get a good look at you! Definitely can pull off any color of the rainbow. Green would suit you best though. Butterflies? Yes! Butterflies! I have the perfect materials for you!” Abstract exclaimed as she circled around Jussy.
“I’ll leave you to it!” Poppy smiled and skipped away.
“Come on, I have all my things in another room.” Abstract led Jussy out of the small room. Once they were out, Jussy saw that they were now in a huge room that was filled with different plants. “This is my underground bunker. Its connected to Branch’s by that tunnel.” Abstract pointed towards a tunnel that had a cart sitting in front of the entrance. “We also have a few other backup tunnels incase one collapses. He collects all of his backup food from here, and its also one of the main sources of food for the entire village.” Abstract said.
“Wow! How long have you’ve been doing this?” Jussy asked.
“Ah…since I was around fifteen. I helped Branch build his bunker a long while before I even started making this one. Our brother Cooper was a tiny little troll at the time.” Abstract smiled.
“Cooper is your brother?” Jussy asked.
“Yeah. The three of us had the same adoptive mother.” Abstract stopped for a moment. “We’ve always had each other’s backs from the start. Being the three most different from everyone else…you met him already?” Abstract asked.
“Mhm! Yesterday at the party in Vibe City we danced together and became really good friends.” Jussy blushed a little.
“You both danced togeth-oh…oh…” Abstract suddenly looked annoyed. “So that’s why she brought you up…jeezuz. Follow me. I have all of the things I need in my room.” Abstract picked up the pace. She had Jussy stand in the center of the room on top of a stool. She took a few quick measurements and pulled out green, black, and white fabric. She put a blindfold around Jussy’s eyes.
“Hey! What’s this for?” Jussy exclaimed.
“I don’t like trolls seeing how I make the clothes. It’s kinda like a secret family recipe. Nobody’s allowed to know but me and my brothers.” Abstract explained. “Just try to stay as still as possible.”
~Meanwhile~
“You’re gonna visit her already?” Prince D asked. Smirking at his brother.
“Yes! I am! Plus, it’s not like I’m just visiting her, I’m also visiting my other friends.” Cooper said, digging through his dresser for his hat.
“Mhm. Cause you can’t help, falling in love, with, her.” Prince D sang, teasing Cooper. All that did was earn a glare from his twin. Darnell laughed. “I’m just messing with you. Plus, you don’t have to rush. Its really early in the morning.” Darnell yawned. “Honestly, you should’ve just been waking up right now.” Prince D said.
“Sorry, I’ve always woken up right before the sun rose growing up in Pop Village.” Cooper said.
“But why though?” Darnell asked.
“Ever since the pop trolls took me in, that’s just how its been. Abstract said that Branch always woke up an hour before sunrise to leave the pod and work on his bunker before our adoptive mother could catch him. She got him to sleep a little later and she started waking up early and would have me get up too so that the three of us could work on it together. We tried to adjust to a later sleeping schedule after it was finally done, but we ended up stuck like that.” Cooper laughed.
“Adoptive mother? You never mentioned having one before. You said Abstract raised you and Branch.” Darnell mentioned. Cooper stopped looking for a moment.
“We used to have one. I don’t remember her much…anyways, have you seen my hat anywhere?” Cooper asked. Darnell shook his head.
“Nah, bro. Where’d you see it last.” Darnell asked.
“I don’t remember!” Cooper exclaimed. He kept looking through drawers, under the bed, and everywhere else in his room. But no matter what he moved or shoved around, he couldn’t find his hat. There was a knock on his door.
“Hey, Cooper. Have you seen-oh.” King Quincy noticed his son panicking.
“You lost something too, huh?” Quincy asked.
“I can’t find my hat anywhe-what happened to your cape?” Cooper asked. Quincy was wearing a purple cape with yellow stars instead of his usual golden one.
“I couldn’t find my cape anywhere.” Quincy laughed.
“Sorry, I forgot to tell you both.” Queen Essence walked up next to Quincy. I took your hat and your cape to Pop Village. The hat had a rip and the cape had an unremovable stain in it. I asked Abstract for help.”
“You did?” Cooper asked.
“I think Poppy said something about taking Jussy to meet Abstract today.” Darnell mentioned.
“She did!?” Cooper started to worry. Abstract had always been protective of both Cooper and Branch. If Jussy was meeting Abstract today and Poppy told Abstract about his crush on Jussy, he didn’t want there to be an ugly fight. “We gotta get to Pop Village now!” Cooper exclaimed.
~With Jussy and Abstract~
“Eek! That tickles!” Jussy giggled.
“Sorry.” Abstract tried not to laugh. She was putting the finishing touches on the outfit and she had accidentally poked Jussy with the needles a few times, causing her to laugh. When Abstract had started, Jussy felt like a bunch of blankets were thrown on top of her, then they slowly started to wrap around her and started to feel lighter. Abstract finally took off the blindfold.
“I could do better than this, but its still one of my best works yet. What do you think?” Abstract spun Jussy around to face the mirror. She was wearing a short green fairy-like dress with black sleeves that had green butterflies, silver leggings, and a green sparkly silk fabric that was wrapped around her waist and connected to her wrists.
“Woah.” Jussy stared at herself in the mirror.
“Oh! Almost forgot.” Abstract left for a moment and came back with something in her hands. “And there! Done.” Abstract had given Jussy a pair of silver butterfly earrings.
“You do this for everyone?” Jussy asked, surprised.
“Everyone that will let me. It helps me feel connected with the other trolls. Each one has their own unique design that I create on the spot. I have made some other unique pieces that have them come back for another outfit for a party or other special occasion. I’m not as popular as Satin and Chenille, but I have a hella lot more customers.” Abstract beamed proudly.
“You run a shop?” Jussy asked.
“Mhm. You have a crush on Cooper?” Abstract casually changed the subject.
“Maybe.” Jussy blushed. “Wait, why’d you change the subject so suddenly?!” Jussy became flustered.
“Well, he’s my brother. I like to get to know the trolls that possibly want to date him.” Abstract shrugged.
“Uh…I remember Poppy saying you’re a hunter?” Jussy mentioned.
“Mhm. I am. I don’t have much of a choice. I have to hunt down predators for meat.” Abstract smiled, showing off her fangs. “You seem like a nice troll, and I made a promise to protect my village, but when it comes to my brothers, I won’t hesitate to hurt someone to protect them. Ya got that?” Abstract crossed her arms.
“Yes, I understand.” Jussy put her hands up.
“Good. Cooper should be here any minute now. Queen Essence dropped off his hat and King Quincy’s cape after the party yesterday so I could fix them. I assume the real reason Poppy brought you here was to use me to set up another date for you two. Which I don’t mind…but it would’ve been nice if she had actually told me. Anyways, Queen Essence should be here any second. I’ll ask her if she can take you with her to Vibe City so you can see Cooper. Just…no funny business.” Abstract pointed a finger at Jussy as she grabbed the hat and cape and put them on top of a desk.
“Yeah, got it!” Jussy put her hands up again. There was a sudden slam that caused them both to jump.
“Uh…Queen Essence must’ve sent a guard to get them instead?” Abstract asked more than said.
“ABSTRACT WAI-ACK!” Cooper came running in and ended up tripping over his own feet and fell down.
“Cooper!?” Jussy exclaimed.
“Cooper!” Abstract smiled. Cooper rushed himself to get back on his feet and froze when he saw Jussy. “Hey Coop, whatcha doin here?” Abstract asked, she had expecting him to still be in Vibe City. Jussy sighed in relief when she realized he was okay and smiled.
“Hi Cooper!” Jussy waved at him. Cooper was starting to blush again.
“Uh…Coop?” Abstract asked, a little concerned.
“If being super cute is a superpower, this troll has it!” Cooper thought to himself.
He already knew Jussy was the most beautiful troll he ever laid his eyes on, and she somehow looked even more beautiful. The sparkle in her eyes and the way her smile seemed to light up the entire room made Cooper’s heartbeat quicken. Abstract started to realize what was going on. She grabbed the hat and put it on for him and handed him King Quincy’s cape.
“Your mom dropped these off yesterday. Sorry if you turned your room upside down looking for it this morning.” Abstract turned to Jussy. “Hey while you’re here, should may as well take Jussy with you.” Abstract pushed Jussy towards Cooper.
“Oh, uh h-hi Jussy!” Cooper managed to finally find his voice.
“Hi Cooper.” Jussy giggled. Abstract saw the way Cooper melted at the sound of her voice and smirked.
“Damn he’s got it bad.” Abstract muttered to herself. She gave Jussy a little nudge towards the exit. “Why don’t you go ahead and go outside. I need a minute to talk to Cooper.” Abstract said.
“Oh, uh, okay!” Jussy nodded and skipped outside. Abstract waited until she heard the door close and then turned towards Cooper.
“I know that look.” Abstract said to him. Cooper smiled awkwardly and turned away. “As much as I love teasing you sometimes, which is the only reason I made that dress,” Abstract laughed when Cooper gasped and glared at her. “I don’t want to see you get hurt.” Abstract became serious. “We went through a lot when we were younger. A lot of trolls deceived and tricked us. And even today its easy to mistake a liar as a genuinely kind troll. Jussy seems nice…but I just want you to be careful.” Cooper listened to her and sighed.
“I know you worry, but you gotta believe me, she’s not that kind of troll.” Cooper said.
“You just met her yesterday and I can see that you’ve fallen crazy in love with her.” Abstract pointed out. “Sometimes it ends up with the sweet happy ending, but I’ve witnessed it end with broken hearts firsthand. Are you sure you can trust her even as a friend?” Abstract asked.
“We’ve encountered a lot of bad trolls in the past, but she’s not like any of them.” Cooper smiled and blushed a little bit. “I’m sure, without a doubt, that she’s the one.” Abstract sighed and nodded.
“I just…I want you to be safe. You know I’m just looking out for you, right?” Abstract asked.
“Yeah, I know. I’m just glad you didn’t scare her away.” Cooper chuckled.
“Oh, I was close to doing it. But she’s a lot braver than most pop trolls when it comes to seeing my fangs, or me in general, I’ll give her that.”
“That’s good. By the way, why did you make the dress the way you did?” Cooper glared at her again.
“Whaaaaat? I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not even one of my best works.” Abstract tried to refrain from smiling. “I just happened to make her sparkle like a star and look like a fairy, so what?”
“YOU MADE HER LOOK LIKE A GODDESS!” Cooper burst. Abstract started laughing. “I’m already barely able to keep myself up and put a sentence together around her, are you trying to make me have a heart attack?!”
“Oh, stop being dramatic and get out there. Woo your goddess and show her how much you love her. Just remember what I said.” Abstract gave Cooper a shove.
“Yeah, I got it.” Cooper said and ran outside to find Jussy. Abstract waited a few minutes until he was gone to go outside as well and found Poppy waiting for her.
“Proud of yourself?” Abstract asked.
“Yes!” Poppy squealed as she watched Cooper and Jussy walking and talking to each other. At least, Jussy was doing most of the talking. Cooper was a blushing mess. Any troll could see how deeply in love he was with her at this point.
“You could’ve just asked me to help set up a date between them instead of tricking me into doing it.” Abstract said.
“I didn’t mean to do that. I just wanted you to get to know her since Cooper has a crush on her-”
“Head over heels, deeply in love with her you mean?” Abstract asked.
“Yes…I didn’t know Cooper was going to show up.”
“But you were counting on it, weren’t you?”
“…Maybe.”
“Just let me know when they start planning the wedding so I can help with her dress. I might have my doubts, but I have a feeling that they aren’t separating any time soon.” Abstract said. Her ear started twitching. She could literally hear Cooper reciting poems to Jussy now.
“Well someone found their courage fast.”
@jade-green-butterfly
Once again I am so sorry for making you wait so long for this. I got major writer's block while writing since I'm not used to writing OC x character requests. I hope you don't mind me inserting my own OC into this. It was the only way I could find a break through my writer's block. Also, here's an offer if your interested.
I'm working on a Trolls AU and this is how I pictured you in it. The wings not only are actually working wings for flying, they're extra armour for the back. Jussy most likely wouldn't come in until extremely late in the story, but if you're interested, let me know!
Here's a lil extra fanart
I was teaching myself how to use my different colored pencils while coloring these so some of the pictures have a weird color. I used filters to fix it as much as I could.

Words | Kuroo Tetsurou
So hello this is my first post and I overdid it, it was meant to be like 200 words lmao but mans had me in my feelings.
Hope to write more! Happy reading
WC: 1.7k
Pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x Reader
Warnings: idk about mentions of parent not present?? idk kinda made it a lil personal but it’s not angst i swear
Genre: FLUFF
-
Kuroo Tetsurou considered himself to be a man of many words. For the longest time he just knew exactly what to say. From his days as a child in his youth, he knew what words to say when he wanted to make Kenma feel motivated. He knew the exact words to string together to get his father to let him have just one more scoop of ice cream for dessert. He was wise with the things he’d say in his days as a captain to his volleyball team that did just the trick to motivate them into taking the set back or winning the game. He was smooth with words, the right sentences always stringing together at the tip of his tongue for that promotion he was aiming for.
He knew he was in for a ride when he was reduced into a bumbling mess the second he tried to ask for your number. His stride was confident and his intentions were clear as day. He was going to ask how your day was doing and then ask for your number. Simple as that. So how could the Kuroo Tetsurou, the most suave man you knew give you the most heart stopping glance and utter out, “How’s your number?”
You looked at him and he looked at you. He held his phone out simultaneously as he said it which made the situation a little bit embarrassing, on his end at least.
“Shit.” Though, he somehow felt better when you laughed instead of reacting differently. He felt extremely better when you grabbed his phone and entered your number.
“My day is going well, by the way.” You said as you handed him back his phone. By this time he had well gathered his composure before replying, “That was part of the plan, just to let you know.”
You laughed, “If that makes you feel better, let’s go with that.” He responded by grinning even wider.
-
He thought this wasn’t just the cliche situation where he found himself utterly speechless within your presence because throughout the years he had so much to say. Or just thought of, for the matter.
In the autumn of 2018 where you first moved in together he had so much to say about how this was a milestone in your relationship and that he cannot wait to spend the rest of his days laying and waking up next to you-- but he glanced at you, cheeks red from the cooler wind, one sleeve of your cardigan slipping down, and your fingers drumming against the table where you sat and decided where to put the framed picture of the both of you his words were reduced to the thought that he was home.
In quiet mornings where he’d wake up first and feel you roll over to him and bury yourself in the mass of blankets you’ve gathered throughout the night, his hand itched to write all the adjectives attributed to beautiful, but as you woke up, overgrown bangs messy from moving around, and sleepy smiles stretching against your lips, all he could feel was how warm he was.
You’d constantly ask him where his sharp tongue went. You always found it interesting how a man who could describe the most intricate details retreat in silence when it came to moments when it was just you and him.
You were standing next to him, slicing the vegetables, as he stood next to you stirring the pot. “How come you’re not using pretty words anymore?”
He scooped a bit of the liquid, blew on it and pushed it towards you, “Taste it.” You leaned forward and sipped, “And pretty words? I still use pretty words, baby.”
“You asked me how was my number.” You deadpanned. “Also, needs more salt.”
He puffed his cheeks and grabbed the salt shaker adding a bit into the pot, “I told you that was on purpose. I wanted to win you over by humor and it worked!”
You smirked and pointed to his gudetama apron, the one he grabbed because he was absolutely positive it was the one with the periodic table “Like how you bought that on purpose?”
“Oi.”
-
Kuroo Tetsurou swore to heaven and back that he was one smooth son of a bitch. To prove it he didn’t even write down his vows. He was sure he would find the right words to say in the moment. Also, he thought it would be nice if what you heard from him would be as unfiltered as it could get. He could only hope it was smooth too.
He saw the wedding coordinator signal him all the way from the back. He took a deep breath and fiddled with his tie. He looked around and smiled. You both had chosen well. A quaint ceremony on the shores of a quiet island, An arch of flowers in every shade of lilac, pastel yellow, and succulents with him standing at the end of the aisle. He was barefoot, tan slacks slightly rolled up for him to comfortably feel the sand.
Ah, what should I say.
He looked at the entourage slowly coming down the aisle and taking their seats. Kenma took his place as the best man and reached up to pat Kuroo’s shoulder and sent him a smile.
His heart fluttered and he sucked in a breath and looked up. The divinities must have been rejoicing with him because they painted the skies in swirls of tender crimson and soft oranges.
The fairy lights around the mass twinkled in soft yellow. The breeze felt nice.
This is it. I still don’t know what to say.
The slight woosh of the water against sand melted beautifully into the first notes of the song Words, by the Bee Gees as it began to play. An old song he knew your late mother had loved, and in turn you too.
He looked forward as you appeared at the foot of the aisle. You with your kind smile and twinkling eyes. Beautiful.
You snuck a wave at him and signaled for him to wait right there. His grin stretched further as he sent you a wink of his own. You giggled and then he was breathless.
You started walking towards him, the ends of your dress kissing the sand and locked your eyes to his golden ones.
Kuroo thought this was a déjà vu moment of some sort. All of a sudden he was back in the kitchen of the apartment the two of you shared, picture frames of the two of you finally up, and dishes put away. You had told him about the song Words by the Bee Gees and so he grabbed your hand and lead you into the middle of the room slow dancing to the song that brought you the greatest comfort. Kuroo silently watched you hum along to the lyrics and thought you were beautiful. In his mind, he was writing, and re writing over and over again the things he thought about you which was the most beautiful.
You caught him in his trance and tapped his cheek. “Why are you so smiley, Tetsu?”
“Marry me.”
You buried yourself into his arms and hid your face into his chest. He pulled you tighter against him and continued swaying along to the music.
For a second your heart felt so full, then the next tears were blurring your eyes before sliding down your cheeks. “Where’s my ring, you weirdo?”
You could feel the echo of his laugh against chest as you felt his wet cheek press against your head. His voice sounded muffled and weird, but you felt it. You felt it even if your heart was full.
“Coming right up, baby.”
He held his breath as you finally made it in front of him. He took your hands in his. The song was still playing. Bokuto was probably the one crying and Aakashi was probably the one shushing him. Kuroo didn’t care. All he saw was you. You.
You looked up into the sky as he saw you close your eyes for a brief moment. He knew you were thinking of your mother so he squeezed your hands lightly in his. You looked at him, eyes brimming with love so unspoken yet so heard that he bit his cheek and felt the gentle sting in his eyes.
God, this is really happening. I look so uncool right now.
He always thought weddings happened fairly quickly. But since this was his first and only time standing in this position, he never thought time would slow enough for him to be hyper aware of the thoughts running through his head.
You look so beautiful. How did you pick that dress? It looks so good. Oh my God I’m gonna have children with you. I’m gonna wake up next to you for the rest of my life!!! I get to taste your cooking and give you kisses and shit in the kitchen. I have someone to come home to plus the cats. Thank you for feeding them by the way. My family loves you so much and Kenma even lets you use his league account to play. God this is insane. The flowers look so beautiful with you. This is perfect. This is amazing. This is-
“I love you.”
Your eyes widened at him, and then you smiled, “We haven’t started with the vows yet, Tetsu.”
He looked at you, as surprised as you are, then his eyes softened. “I love you.”
Kuroo Tetsurou was a man of many words, but you learned his love for you was found in the words that had been unspoken. Though it didn’t matter, because you felt it every single time. In every word that he stumbled with, every kiss to the forehead, every snarky remark that you both laugh at anyway, every good morning and goodnight, every squeeze of the hand, and every single time he looked at you.
Your eyes glazed as you looked at him. And in that miniscule, quiet moment you two shared, you let yourself look at him in your own way where he just knew you said your I love you, too.

random thought of mine, which clone do you think would have the best singing voice? Ik they’re clones so they all sound the same fmdndn but still. i think jesse or echo maybe?
jesse would be such a beautiful singer, not a doubt in my mind. his voice is velvety, a bit husky with a hard punch of power. i’ve entertained this thought on multiple occasions and will one day write smth with singing jesse.
echo though? akhdkshkakdj i never thought abt him singing before now but i can totally see it, his voice being a bit less gritty than jesse’s but with a smidge more range and a clearness that rivals the scarif oceans.
gonna send thank-you’s to @obiorbenkenobi and @hxldmxdxwn for letting me ramble abt this post on discord at ungodly hours.
i made a playlist for this almost-au as well!!! find it here, and i’ll soon add it to my spotify shenanigans.
now enjoy me going into more detail abt these two boys than anyone asked for:
genre-wise i think jesse would be a bit more cocky and playful with his go-to songs, and he will dominate the stage with his godlike dancing every time he’s given the chance;
radar love by the golden earring - this is the song he first gets the confidence to dance to. once the crowd goes wild for it and he realizes how much he enjoys moving around, he keeps on doing it. there’s this one thing he does that’s like, um, jolting/bouncing (not sure how else to describe it) but the crowd thinks it’s great when he does it.
sexbomb by tom jones - his dancing here is utterly erotic and he knows how attractive it is, holy kriff. it’ll bring the entire bar staff to a standstill bc damn look at his hips go, sex god much??? most definitely grinds against the mic stand and gfgalkdfjghlkf it never fails to fluster quite a few patrons (this will soon be a full-fledged fic so keep your eyes open)
no mr. nice guy by alice cooper - he jokes sometimes that he was actually quite peaceful as a cadet before joining the five-oh-first. it isn’t a joke tho and you can blame fives and hardcase for making him go wild. but this song makes him think of when he stopped caring abt trying to impress the longnecks and he enjoys hitting the higher notes.
rock the casbah by the clash - this is where he learns to snap his hips to every “rock” with a bit extra force. the crowd has a blast clapping along, some of the more drunk people screeching “the shareef don’t like it!” at the top of their lungs. it’s upbeat
rock this town by the stray cats - he’s having a damn good time with this song, a lot of elvis presley vibes. if he had enough hair he’d flip it. he does a bit of air guitar and will sway his mic stand around and bounce his knee to the beat.
strutter by kiss - he loves this one, it’s a personal favorite. he;ll be running his hands down his body when he’s still, but the times he’s walking around the stage he’s got a hand on his swinging hips, literally strutting. it’s so fun to watch him embrace the music
bad to the bone by george thorogood & the destroyers - a joking request from fives that turned into a crowd favorite. fives didn’t think his vod could do it but jesse rose to the occasion as he charmed his way through the song with his fun swagger and playful air sax. he drank quite a bit of water after this one bc he was unused to using as much gravel in his voice as this song took, but he enjoys it nonetheless.
echo would be softer with his choices, leaning more towards soulful and sweet in comparison to jesse’s wild side. he also plays both guitar and piano, i take no criticism on these points;
the night they drove old dixie down by the band - he plays this one after a rough mission and it’s deeply resonating with everyone there, everyone either putting down their drinks to let the song flow thru them, or grab something stronger to let it lull them into inebriation.
no plan by hozier - he sounds so beautiful with literally any hozier song tbh, but this one is his favorite. this was the closest he got to smth soulful before the times he duetted with jesse and he really enjoyed it. it was smooth yet passionate and is one he sang for the first time when dejected and unsure abt his future.
piano man by billy joel - he plays the piano for this song & kriff did it take him a while to both master it and find someone that played the harmonica well enough to join him. this is rex’s favorite song to hear echo play and will hum it quite often. echo enjoys throwing himself into playing this one in a way he doesn’t often do & he’s called “the piano arc” the first time he plays it. the nickname sticks but he likes it, so no harm done.
amie by pure prarie league - this was a fun song for echo to learn and he really enjoys how gentle it is. he’ll tap his foot with the music and just let himself go. sometimes he’ll catch himself moving his shoulders slightly as he plays but he doesn’t stop. when he plays this one, he prepares to hear his brothers hum it for at least a week afterward, it’s just that good.
house of the rising sun by the animals - this one isn’t heard until some time after he and jesse duet & echo exhibits his capacity to have a bit of gravel, which is absolutely heavenly when heard. there’s a lot of held-out notes here and a special kind of twang he’s able to finesse, it’s stunning.
skinny love by bon iver - he learned to play guitar to this song right here, it’s one of his faves and loves how tender & raw it can be. he’s heard covers of it that added too much to it & detracted from the intensity of the emotions, so he sticks with the original. it’s an extremely vulnerable song and it’s somber, but he enjoys baring himself without the risk of being shamed for it. several people cry the first time they hear him sing this song. (this one will turn into a fic as well, time tbd)
bad moon rising by creedence clearwater revival - echo sang this one for the first time tne night before the five-oh-first got their orders, which ended up being to felucia. there are always strange occurences when this song is sung & a few ppl will do anything to keep echo from singing it bc they think it’s an omen. everyone enjoys hearing the song, no doubt, but the moment it ends, some battalion or another is doomed to a bad assignment.
now if these two were to ever team up???? no one would be able to talk about anything else for weeks afterwards
you don’t mess around with jim by jim croce - they’re sitting on barstools in front of their mics, echo strumming on his guitar while jesse pats his thigh as a substitution to the drums. v playful vibes with this song and they can’t stop grinning as they sing. it’s fun and they’ll sometimes lightly tap each other with their feet throughout the performance to tease. lighthearted and always enjoyed.
all this and heaven too by florence + the machine - it’s got enough power for jesse but is also delicate enough for echo, achieving a great balance of their strengths as well as a tambourine. you’d probably think that jesse and a tambourine can cause as much trouble as hardcase with explosives, but he’s insanely focused on getting the hits right. no one expects to hear echo belt out such strong notes in contrast to his normal choices but damn they love it. and jesse?? softly breathing the verses with a delicateness no one thought he possessed?? they’re weak for them both.
soul shop by prophets and outlaws - they harmonize SO!!! DAMN!!! GOOD!!! echo playing the piano and jesse sitting on top of it just straight up VIBING. the entire bar is swaying with the music and letting themselves melt into the floor. none of them were prepared for echo to harness a little bit of gravel in his voice or for jesse to capture the melodic tone that echo doesn’t have to put effort into. this song, having a lot of soul and grit to it but is smoother than corellian whiskey, is a performance for the record books.
if y’all wanna hear more about these two darlings singing, or if you have any other headcanons you want to share/ask me abt, please don’t hesitate to pop into my asks!! i would love to hear from you!!

ok ajsdhkjdlmlsak I just!! do not want to ruin anyone's experience of it bc I know a lot of people seem to love it jsdkjks to kiri I've been like IT'S SO COOL HOW ARE U FEELING and right now I'm just like WHAT IS GOING ON WHY DO I FEEL TERRIBLE ABT THIS
I like the production from like a technical standpoint I think it was really cool (not as good as Ashe's album but that is high standards!!), even tho it leaves a weird hearing aftertaste (I immediately fell into all of my comfort albums right after I'd finished n I stilll don't know whyyyy), her voice is wonderful and I like the tone BUT. i heard she's been talking abt how she's like "bringing back pop punk" but she is Not? there were like. three... songs.? four? that were upbeat and about two (I think brutal and good 4 u) that sounded anything like actual pop punk (and the rest are........sad? breakup songs?)
like compare: Grace Vanderwaal and her two recent songs (punk rock, not pop punk, but similar to brutal like really vaguely) or Louis Tomlinson and Kill My Mind/Miss You (pop punk, good 4 u passes the vibe check of british pop punk sjdkjsjlsdk). brutal is swag but like why aren't there more brutal songs!!! that one was good even though the lyrics are uh,,,, jshdksdkj anyway. her voice is lowkey made for the genre though I am not in the corner of the genre with those kinds of voices
ok though u know what the thing is, Olivia said she's bringing back pop punk but the thing about pop-punk is that it's messy and proper instruments and actually having fun and messing around with the instruments and being loud and absolutely not ignorable, because it's punk. brutal does bring that to the table but it's like one song, swear words are not really punk (they are just making me go damn it olivia let my kid sister listen to your music sjdkjsd the dichotomy of being 17 and also a disney star? in 2021?). the aesthetic is not flower filled grocery stores and butterflies and pop and aesthetic things djdskdls??? like!! I think maybe that's why I'm like, this is Wrong, to just throw some pop punk songs in alongside like nine breakup songs? and yet have those songs be kind of like the strongest points in the album aside from drivers license and hope ur ok. at this point it has been like three hours of me trying to articulate and now I have brutal stuck in my head and I want more brutal-type and less drivers license-type. she could just say she's just being Olivia and not have put a label on it genre-wise tho? that would have been neat I would have expected less and it encompasses more of the album itself
can u tell. I am very sad and I just want actual new pop punk/punk rock music if there's no proper amazing songwriting happening sjhfkjdsdslk that is my beloved little corner of music and I was like noooo!!!! Olivia!!!! but I did cry at hope ur ok so like.
i would like to know how she still made an 11-song album drag I do not think I've ever seen someone do that before djskdsl all of the ballads are just the same help
OKAY THAT WAS SO LONG I HAVE DELETED THAT PARAGRAPH I SWEAR. JUST. THE BALLADS ARE NOT COHESIVE. The songwriting isn't solid enough to stand on its own and don't have clear imagery and storytelling (like Taylor Swift?? or uh Lorde both of whom she says she takes after) to distinguish themselves and I suspect she has been learning poetry from instagram and stuff please start reading good books and learn how to not word vomit (we are in the same boat tho it sucks) ms rodrigo. neither are the melodies/little instrumental riffs/hooks (which are nonexistent sjhdsjksd let the brain hang onto something!!! deja vu and good 4 u have them though they're not ballads, but like the melodies??? think heather by conan gray. it has that hook, and there aren't strong hooks throughout the album I don't think), and she also could have just done the EP??? I think it'd have been smarter for a debut specifically because it's easier to make a good EP than a good album (like listen, Dodie and Ashe didn't release albums until now, it's not like a dumb thing to do to cover up flaws, it's letting yourself grow into making big bodies of work) and she could make a stronger album later with more experience like, she didn't need to "prove herself"? *meme voice* sometimes... playing it safe is better. especially when u are seventeen and like. super in the spotlight gosh she's probably gonna get a bunch of critical thingies idk what they're called. the album I think probably jams but also it's so much of an average teen 2021 album idk. I think she'll grow into it though so maybe it'll get better with time!
anyway this is long I am so sorry June. like 80% of this is me going ok but where's the pop punk was I lied to sfdgfhjk
many thoughts happened huh

'Jugulator' by Judas Priest
Okay, first let me own up; during the mid to late 1990s, I had drifted away from heavy metal music. Grunge had all but killed off all the bands I loved, and I hadn't yet taken to bands that were simply too heavy for my tastes at the time; Like Pantera for example.
Massive bands like Iron Maiden were persevering through change, whilst others simply sank. One such band who seemed to sink were Judas Priest, but they never did so without a fight.
As I drifted off into a haze of indie mainstream music with bands like Oasis, offering up at least a hope for guitar based music that wasn't all about doom and gloom, Judas Priest, after years in the wilderness without a lead singer (after Rob Halford had departed), were reinventing themselves with the addition of new vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens; An American with a voice equal to that of the Metal God himself, who previously was part of a Judas Priest tribute act called 'British Steel'.
This was risky business. After all, Priest's previous studio album was the unrivalled 'Painkiller'. How does a band follow that up with the added handicap of trying to replace God himself on vocals? Well, as it turns out, at the time, they couldn't...
Fast forward twenty years or so. My love for metal had returned. The once considered dead genre was as popular as it had been in as many years. I had rediscovered the wonders of Judas Priest, if only by accident due to my son George taking a liking to 'Breaking The Law', and a quick bit of Googling had me in possession of every album Priest had ever released. Y'arrrgh!
So, I've always been a massive fan of the underdog. It explains my poor choice in football team, and I also really loved the Iron Maiden albums featuring Blaze Bayley... Very much in the face of popular opinion. So naturally, I headed straight to the most maligned era of Priest... The first of two studio albums that Ripper Owens featured on, before Halford rejoined the band at his expense in the early 2000s.
'Jugulator' was released in 1997. Groove metal was everywhere. Including on this album, by the bucket load. But Priest were never ones to shy away from incorporating modern elements into their sound. This was the biggest change they'd made since 1986 though, where they'd introduced Synth elements that were popular at that time, and they divided their fans in the process. Was this change in style again too much for fans to stomach?
Straight from track one, it was clear this album wasn't messing about. The melodic edge was gone. These were angry sounding men, with an 'end of the world' concept they intended on using to build a story. 'Jugulator', the title track, took the heaviness of 'Painkiller', tuned down the guitars, and pummeled your ears, leaving you gobsmacked. Owens could bloody sing! And I genuinely feared the end was nigh for mankind!
The album thunders along, without ever letting up the pace. Sure, one or two songs certainly misfire and could have been left off the album (namely the cringeworthy 'Decapitate' and 'Abductors'), but the best was yet to come...
As the album approached the end game, it offered up its most Halford-like track, 'Bullet Train', a fast paced song that wouldn't have sounded out of place on 'Painkiller'. Wow, but with only one song left, had they peaked too soon, leaving us to end on a damp squib? Well, emphatically NO!
The final track brings the album around full circle. If the song 'Jugulator' was the start of the apocalypse, 'Cathedral Spires' was the conclusion. There's no happy ending here, story wise, but boy did they save the best 'til last!
The song starts slowly, builds up, and finally explodes into possibly the greatest piece of music the band have ever put on record. Owens hits all the right notes, with powerful backing vocals assisting what is the best nine minutes of song I have heard in a very long time. The hairs on the back of my neck (of which I have many) all stood to attention. As did other areas. This was metal at its absolute finest. The fact the band completely disregard the Owens era and particularly 'Cathedral Spires' should be a criminal act. To hear Halford belt this song out is on my musical bucket list.
In conclusion, this album is vastly underrated by many fair weather Priest fans and the music media alike. Many have said they'd rate it higher if it wasn't released as a Judas Priest album. Just typing that made my IQ drop considerably. It's not quite up there with 'Painkiller', but for me, I'd have this album in my top 3 Priest albums of all time, without a shadow of a doubt.

WIG REVIEW: I’M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS
Well spooky season is over which means it’s time for my favorite season: AWARDS! I’m catching up on new releases and starting with a fairly spooky one: Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things. If you absolutely adore movies that completely gaslight you, the musical Oklahoma!, off-brand DQ blizzards IN a blizzard, actors from every season of Fargo in once place and of course: Toni Collette’s bewigged bangs, this movie is for you! I guess this review includes spoilers but even if you have already seen this movie, this may not spoil things for you?? Regardless: let’s discuss the wigs (and much more!)
Straight up: I love a good roadtrip movie and this one stars a couple played by Jesse Plemons and Jessie Buckley! Buckley-ed up: this is 2x the Jess(i)es! Also buckle up: this movie is absolutely not a roadtrip movie and defies all genres, reason, and narrative logic. We are first meant to believe that Jessie is meeting Jesse’s parents, but actually none of that is true and also I hope you like listening to poems recited in a car because that is basically the first hour of this movie.
Finally, we make it to Jesse’s parents’ secluded farmhouse where we are first given a tour of barn atrocities and then have to watch a wet dog shake itself for a about three hours and wonder what is happening in the creepy basement before finally meeting: DAVID THEWLIS AND TONI COLLETTE! Whew! Does anyone remember simpler times only 3 years ago when we were living in a total David Thewlinnaisance due to his involvement in both Wonder Woman and Fargo season 3? Well hold on to your old man wigs because we are in a Second Wave Thewlinnaisance!!!! Also between Thewlis, Buckley, and Plemons, Fargos season 2-4 are completely represented here like some sort of Fargo: End Game which honestly makes a lot of sense in the context of this movie (I THINK). Toni Collette: you need to be in Fargo season 5 now.
So let’s talk about Toni Collette’s wigs, as they are the main wigs in this movie. As Jesse’s off-kilter mom, these wigs are very perfect farmhouse non-chic. We first see her in this banged shag and it is pretty good! It is also very good at helping me understand just what the hell is going on in this movie because moments later...
Toni has no bangs!! This bang shift was the first substantial clue for me in realizing that the full time-space continuum was off in this movie (also this movie makes its own Robert Zemekis joke because it knows it is fully Back to the Futuring some real timetravel nonsense as well!) Anyway, this wig is also good! Straggly and terrible, but good for the purpose it serves: to tell us that nothing is as it seems. Jessie’s non-wigged hair also shifts, as does her clothing, career, and name, as does Thewlis’s wig until we realize that this movie is totally gaslighting the hell out of us.
Time becomes a flat circle and past and present all become one. Toni is young again, and so is this ‘50s ‘do! Ok? It is ok! Before you can say Leave It To Beaver, Toni is old again, about to die....and maybe so are we? How long is this movie? Also this is not even the scariest Toni has been at a parental dinner if you have seen Hereditary.
It should be noted that throughout this gaslit nightmare of a parental dinner, we get flashes of a random high school janitor who ends up being the key to all of this. As does the musical Oklahoma! which he sees being rehearsed time and time again.
Later, when the Jess(i)es finally leave the terrible, time-shifting parental dinner full of scary laundry basements and shifting wigs, they drive some more and recite Pauline Kael’s dissertations on A Woman Under the Influence, and find themselves at an off-brand Dairy Queen to get some off-brand blizzards in the middle of a blizzard that the girls who work there...were also in that high school production of Oklahoma! and are treating Jesse like he’s a weird janitor....I think we’re getting to the point of all this.
But first: how well do you know the musical Oklahoma??? I played Gertie in a community theater production in 1999 so allow me to school you. It is the first true American musical and is essentially all about a girl named Laurie trying to decide who to take to a dance. Yes, really. Her choices are cowboy Curly and farmhand weirdo Jud. Curly tries to help Laurie decide by going to Jud’s weird shack and trying to convince him through song to “end things” because only through suicide will anyone like him (yes this is an actual song called “Poor Jud is Dead”). And though Laurie’s choice seems obvious (?) she first has to take some smelling salts and think on it, which leads to the psychedelic narrative convention of the dream ballet - in which other actors play Curly, Jud, and Laurie and dance it OUT. Also the dream ballet (and the musical) end in murder and this musical is dark as hell. OK? OK.
Back to this movie, Jessie and Jesse make their way back to the high school where the janitor works, make out in a car, and then Jesse gets weirded out that the janitor is watching them and decides to give him “a piece of his mind”....he gives him much more in that we soon discover that the Jess(i)es have all been part of the janitors mind this entire time and this whole goddamned movie is an elaborate dream ballet...that is ending with some dancers playing the Jess(i)es in an actual dream ballet. That ends in murder. Also Jessie’s character is a messed up version of Laurie (from Oklahoma!) but never actually Laurie. Her name shifts from Lucy, Louise, Louisa, Lucia....never quite the Laurie this janitor Jud wanted her to be.
But we’re not actually done yet!! The old janitor leaves the school, trips the hell out in his truck and reenters the school naked and with off-brand DQ and dead pig animation (yes, really). Then Jesse in old wig/makeup become the old janitor in a Nobel Prize award ceremony on the set of Oklahoma! the musical with Toni in Aunt Eller drag and most of the audience (including Thewlis and Buckley) in the kind of old age makeup they do in high school productions where you just draw a bunch of lines on your face. Jesse delivers the Nobel acceptance speech from A Beautiful Mind and then goes into the set for Jud’s shack and sings Jud’s (often cut) song from Oklahoma!, “A Lonely Room”...and scene! Now aren’t you glad I told you about Oklahoma!????
Ultimately, this is the movie for the theater nerd who demanded that Jud hisself got his own damn dream ballet and also imagines Jud to be a modern-day janitor who thinks he’s smart and cultured and deserves a cool girlfriend and dabbles in landscape painting. But wig-wise...
VERDICT: WURQS!

TRESILLO RHYTHM
MD5313
After quiet a few months off university, and secluding myself to 4 walls. I had my first day back! Seeing everyone was so lovely and really propped up my mood! The summer was very much so filled with ups and downs mentally, however I’ve came out of it possibly the most focused and motivated (and happy) I’ve ever been!
It feels like a switch has been flipped in my head and I’m genuinely so excited and motivated to get stuck into my course! A few weeks before we all came back, I decided I wanted to really sit down and focus on getting better at recording and getting some basic mixing skills worked up.
My first voyage was to learn to program drums, at first, this was extremely daunting and made me want to throw my computer out of the window. However I persevered and then the next day it clicked. I learnt the value of quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes etc and I was instantly able to create decent, serviceable drum beats to assist my songwriting. Linked below is the first song i’ve tracked while fully knowing how too program:
THE CHALLENGE!
So this week we were challenged to create a piece of music utilizing the ‘tresillo rhythm.’ This term, was alien to me. Which is ironic because I have actually listened to many pieces of music that utilise it.
I’ve never actually tried writing music with a set agenda/idea carving what I do. So to do this for me seemed pretty difficult at the beginning. Although after about half an hour of messing around I started to get the hang of it, and i’m genuinely very happy with what I was able to come up with.
I started off by making a drum beat as a basis to follow, as it’s typically in the percussion that this rhythm is most prominent in. I made a simple beat for the A section and then for the B section i veered away from using it as I wanted to create a chorus for this piece to test my ability to flow in and out of different rhythms.
I then started to track the guitars which began to be a problem for me, as admittedly I do need to be tighter. I believe this is because I usually play music that falls under the metal sub genres, and with that I’m just used to playing it, as the music fits to a click perfectly. With this genre (latin? salsa? i don’t know) there is a lot more flair and nuances that typically I wouldn’t try technique wise such as playing muted chords to fill in little areas of silence; Which I find difficult to do, however practice makes perfect and i’m sure with more practice I will inevitably crack it!
What changed this track for me, was bass. Now I absolutely adore playing bass, as I feel that it is SO underappreciated. Bass can completely change the dynamic of songs and spring so many ideas on where to go next. I looped the tresillo drum section and just played around until I created something I was happy with. It turns out, that I wrote my favourite section of music yet. It had SO much feel and groove and it just made me want to dance! The bass tone merged extremely well with the guitar tone as well and made it sound really warm and full. I tracked guitar individually on two tracks panned hard left and hard right (100%), and tracked two bass tracks individually as well both going straight down the center. I tracked a clean bass sound to give it a deep, rich sound. I tracked the second layer with a slightly more dirty tone to give the bass some definition in the mix as well. It is probably the best bass sound I have gotten so far! For the guitars and bass I used the Neural DSP Cory Wong Archetype plugin as I found that the clean tones are absolutely gorgeous and extremely good for a digital plugin.
I also had a pretty cool idea spring to mind, which was too record me clapping another variation of the Tresillo rhythm over one of the sections. I used my Shure SM7b to capture these claps. However unfortunately I didn’t really get a good sound because my room has a lot of space in it so the room reverb lessened the quality of the sound and I didn’t have anything to isolate the sound enough!
Linked below is my piece:
To conclude, I have found this challenge very beneficial. It has given me a new insight into how to approach song writing, and it has made me so much more interesting in exploring other rhythms in the future!

Lazuli lives in a swamp that connects to the ocean. It’s mostly her job to travel through the waterways throughout the bog and maintain the magical protections that keep the washed up sailor bodies from turning undead as a result of the Highly Cursed Environment.
9. What deity, if any, does your character worship? What’s their opinion on other people’s worship?
Lazuli is part of the Flock of my setting’s God of Death Onthys. She lives mainly in isolation, so she doesn’t see many other worshipers of Onthys, but she doesn’t care much for the festivals/holy days that the more mainstream Flock members observe. Her personal rituals are much less standardized and customized for her isolated swamp versus the communal celebrations in cities.
18. What would your character’s Zodiac sign be, following stereotypical astrology?
Pisces! She is compassionate, intuitive, wise, and can be very (overly?) trusting.
27. What is your character’s greatest fear? Deep, irrational?
Her deepest fear is probably claustrophobia, and specifically the claustrophobia that comes from living in a city surrounded by other people. She would feel so wrong in a huge crowd, unable to move or act or be heard.
36. What would be your character’s theme song/favorite band/favorite genre of music?
Oh she would LOVE Cosmo Sheldrake
youtube
45. What is your character’s most recent or frequent nightmare?
Being buried alive in a desert. That absolute dearth of life, combined with the pressure of being squeezed under the sand, the unbearably dry air and unfathomable heat... yeah it’s not a good dream.
54. How does your character feel about keeping secrets from the rest of the party?
Bless her heart, she doesn’t see anything wrong with it at all. She interacts mainly with dead people, who will only tell her what they want to, and she respects the fact that there’s nothing in the world that will get them to say something they don’t want to. She genuinely doesn’t see why it would upset some people, and it wouldn’t faze her at all if someone kept secrets from her.
63. Is your character willing to risk the well-being of others in order to achieve their goal?
She is pretty utilitarian, especially compared to some of my other characters. She values the lives of others, of course, but she can narrow things down to a numbers game pretty easily and doesn’t feel the need to reevaluate that belief. I think that she would never risk someone intentionally to get what she alone wants, but if she believes it would lead to a greater good overall for everyone, then she would.
81. What does your character’s name represent to them? (Or: why as a player did you choose your character’s name?)
Lapis lazuli is a semi precious stone that is supposed to be associated with clarity, purification, etc. It’s also blue, like her. I thought that the stone’s associations with healing and purifying an area would work well for a blue green grave cleric in a swamp! (also want to put it out there that she existed before caduceus did I Did Not Copy Mr. Jaffe)
90. Who is your character’s biggest rival?
She doesn’t really have a rival at the moment besides The Undead that keep trying to take over her bog!
99. Are there any social or political issues your character feels strongly about?
Dead things should stay dead! 😊 If you’re a proponent of digging into the afterlife and messing around with the natural order of life and death fuck you 😊

[Dystopia : The Tree of Language] by Dreamcatcher - Album Review
So I’m finallly doing this! To be honest, after Deja Vu, my expectations for this comeback were extremely high and I was hoping to see something quite amazing from the girls and, to be fair, I believe they totally delivered. Not only were the teasers for this album absolutely beautiful and ethereal, very unique, in my opinion, they also went on a slightly different direction music wise, as this album isn’t as dark as the rest of Dreamcatcher’s discography, but still has their flavour.
I would like to also add that this is only my opinion. Please, don’t take any of what I say too personal.
Intro (1:20) : This is a very short track and it feels quite menacing to listen to, a bit like a horror movie OST, but the good type. It gave me chills, but left me thrilled from what it was going to come next, especially as it softens it’s melody completely in the end.
Scream (3:24) : I want to talk about the music video, the choreography and the lyrics regarding this track as I believe they all add to the full experience. So the MV was preceded with wonderful teasers about the story of this particular album and as a sucker for things like this, I fell immediatly in love with those, which led me to fall head over heels with the video. Aesthetic wise, I couldn’t ask for anything more, besides that I wish some scenes were recorded outside of a studio. Apart from this, the colours, clothes, hairstyles and shots are absolutely amazing. Gahyeon was the one who caught my eye the most this time around, specially in her part at 1:30 and 2:17. The plot wasn’t completely understandable throughout the music video, but I believe that is for Insomnias and other viewers to make theories of their own.
The choreography is so powerful and much more sensual, in the chorus mostly, compared to their previous ones. I think they absolutely did amazing and, once again, pulled this concept really well. Not only this, but they’ve also managed to incorporate Handong’s position in it, which is truly a really sweet thing from them. I think it’s better seen in the 'Scream' Dance Video (연습실 ver.) , as the girl with the mask on represents Handong.
When it comes to the song, this is obviously very different from, for example, Deja Vu and PIRI. Even so, this has quickly become one of my favourite comebacks from them. Vocal wise, Siyeon and Yoohyeon did amazing and sing beautifully and powerfully, while Gahyeon and Dami absolutely destroyed in an awesome way with both of her rap bits. The song is quite balanced and the build-up is really well done, while the drop that follows makes everything so much more enjoyable.
Lyrically, the song tells the story of someone who goes through a lot of pain to want to inflict the same damage on their perpretator. It goes from someone who was compeltely terrified from another person to want to defend themselves and stand up to their abuse. My personal favourite is:
“Tricks behind the mask, ridiculous freaks The growing hatred gives birth to random targets I swallow up the burning thirst but hypocrisy says it’s my fault The end is sitting at the edge of a cliff It’ll be a choice that only remains regret “
Tension (3:11) : Ah, the beginning of this song alone left me thrilled, the guitars made it so awesome! Listening to the song, it feels a bit like something that would fit really well in one of their first albuns and that sort of feeling of nostalgia makes the track quite enjoyable. I don’t think this one is very memorable though, as fun as it is. The build up gets tiring after a while, but, nonetheless, still a really good song. It also reminds me a lot of those old anime intros for a shounen genre anime type!
Red Sun (3:05) : This is by far my favourite song of the whole album. It’s absolutely amazing just from the start it has, it feels creepy, reminding a bit of Chase Me or GOOD NIGHT eras. Afterwards that, Dami comes and completely wrecks the listener, she sounds powerful, sexy and amazing. I think the main reason for this to be my favourite is because it mixes a lot of favourites from Dreamcatcher. It captures that sentiment of eeriness, while having a sort of fun, but calm type of melody in it’s chorus, reminding me a lot of Wonderland and July 7th . This is a track I definitely recommend listening to.
Black or White (3:24) : This song is so cool and I believe it goes well with the vibe that the group initially had on their debut. It’s a bit different from Scream but it still has the power and tenacity one expects from Dreamcatcher. The chorus is extremely catchy and fun, in my opinion, and Dami’s parts, as well with Siyeon’s and Yoohyeon’s, are definitely my favourites. The only complain I have is that when the melody softens, the song kind of loses the grip it once had on the listener in the beginning.
Jazz Bar (3:34) : The title is completely appropriate as it truly feels like I’m listening to this song in a badly lighten bar, smoke clouds surrounding me, a wine glass in my hand, while watching these beautiful women perform a lovely song, calmly and elegantly singing. My biggest criticism with this track would be the fact that Black or White creates a lot of momento and excitement that is lost with the quietness of this song.
SAHARA (3:10) : I really wanted to like this song as, except for the chorus, this is something rather different from what they’ve done before, but I genuinely feel this track comes off as a bit messy and kind of cringy in my opinion. The best part for this song and for sure, the most epic of it, was from minute 2:45. The momento is slowly build up and things get cooler, to only end very shortly after.
In the Frozen (3:16) : The beginning of this song does not prepare the listener for the amount of noise that the track itself has. However, it can still be enjoyable. To be honest, the first time, I listened to this, I got a major headache from the chorus alone, but it’s still quite awesome and the vocals mixed with those sounds work just fine. Just like the previous song, it starts getting real good in the end, to just be ruined with this dubstep mess, sigh. I do not advise you to listen to this, if you are a bit sensitive as I am.
Daybreak (3:03) : Once again, a bit like Jazz Bar, this track breaks the mold of the album with it’s calm and soothing melody. To be fair, it was a genius take to put it after In The Frozen, as it will heal the headache you’ll get. Anyway, Daybreak is a good, cute and addicting song. The girls sing in a very delicate way as if they are almost trying not to hurt the one listening in some instances.
Full Moon (3:09) : This song is a bit of a Chase Me 2.0 in a softer light and I love it for that. I truly loved that song and I’m happy that sort of vibe and metal-ish sound is back in a track. I kind of wish that the song would have been a bit longer as I feel like it was rather short and could have been developed a bit more, but even so, the chorus and bridge sounded amazing.
Outro (1:03) : Compared to the Intro, this “last” track is much calmer. I believe it ends the album well, still having that eerie vibe that mostly followed each song here.
Paradise (4:03) : I wanted this ballad to be much more than it is. As soon as I listened the first bit I was a bit unimpressed, but it grew a lot in me throught the many, many versions that were posted by HappyFace Entertainment on Youtube (White Version, Black Version, Piano Version and Original Version). The chorus can become quite tiring after a while, but I understand why many loved this song as Siyeon won the lyrics and beat very well with her vocals. My criticism goes mostly towards to how boring it sounds, despite the quick rhythm. It just feels very generic to me.
Rating: 8/10

With Frozen 2 now playing in theaters, I recently sat down with Jonathan Groff to talk about making the highly anticipated sequel. During the wide-ranging conversation, Groff talked about when he knew they were going to make the film, how the film pushes away from the norm by not having a “villain” and instead features the main characters grappling with their own growth and change, Kristoff’s ‘80s inspired song that has adults laughing out loud, how the filmmakers have flipped what the male love interest is going through by having him struggling with how to communicate to the woman he loves, what it will take to get the cast to perform all the Frozen music on tour, what song he was sad to see not make the finished film, and more. In addition, he talked about the status of Mindhunter season 3, if he’s had any pressure to get on social media, if he thinks Frozen 3 will happen, the difference between the West End and Broadway theater audiences, and a lot more.
Check out what Jonathan Groff had to say below.
Collider: So let’s jump into the most important question.
JONATHAN GROFF: Okay.
When do you start filming Mindhunter season three?
GROFF: (laughs) I don’t know. TBD.
I know [David] Fincher’s making a movie, so that’s going to take him out for at least eight months.
GROFF: Yeah, we couldn’t do it ‘til after he was done with that.
Yeah. It’s still not fast enough. I saw Holt [McCallany] recently and mentioned that to him as well, and I basically have said repeatedly I need 50 episode seasons.
GROFF: Oh my God. And you know that he and I would be so down. We’re ready. We’re ready. Whenever the call comes, we’re ready to jump.
Yes. I just want to start the interview off with the most important thing.
GROFF: I love you for that.
Yeah, listen. I love that show, and all of us on the site love that show.
GROFF: Oh, good.
It’s so good.
GROFF: Good.
I can keep on going, but I’m going to stop. So, jumping into why I get to talk to you, first, let me start by saying congratulations. The pressure, or the difficulty of making a great sequel to such a beloved movie is really hard, and you guys did it. Do you know where you are today and what day in the promotion process it is?
GROFF: I do.
Because you guys have been going nonstop.
GROFF: I jumped on. So the group went to Toronto, but I’m actually doing a revival of Little Shop of Horrors right now off-Broadway, and so I know that this is day three of my promotion experience, because I left the show on Sunday. I got here on Monday. Our first thing was on Wednesday… Oh no. So, it’s day four. I already messed it up. It’s day four. (laughs)
So you must’ve put it in your contract for Little Shop that you… Disney must’ve said you have to be able to promote?
GROFF: Yes. In May when the director of Little Shop, Michael Mayer, called and asked me to do it, I said, “Oh, I’m not doing anything this fall, except I have to have off for these two weeks.” And they said yes, so they knew it from the very beginning. They hired an amazing actor named Gideon Glick, who I did Spring Awakening with back in the day, to replace me for these two weeks.
Have you done anything on the West End?
GROFF: I have, actually.
My question is, and I’ve been asking this of all the actors I talked to who do theater, do you notice a difference between the audiences in the West End and Broadway?
GROFF: Yes. The biggest, I think, difference [in the West End] would be less vocal, less standing up, less standing ovations. It’s just a cultural difference in that Americans are more apt to jump up and clap and be more vocal throughout the course of any given performance, and the Brits are a little more reserved.
Do the Brits ever do the standing ovation at the end?
GROFF: Yes.
So when they do it, they mean it?
GROFF: A hundred percent, and the two times that I’ve been in the audience of a West End show where it’s felt like an American audience was The Book of Mormon and Hamilton.
Oh yeah.
GROFF: Yeah.
And you felt that energy?
GROFF: Yeah. I was like, “Well, I could it be in New York right now. This is how crazy these shows are making the audience, even in London.” I remember also Lin [Manuel Miranda] telling me that the difference between — because I did Hamilton on Broadway for almost a year. And then they took it to London, and he said that it was the same reaction except when Aaron Burr sings, “I’m keeping her bed warm while her husband is away” randomly in his song Wait For It, it gets a huge laugh in London. Never had a laugh in America. There’s the one difference between the British and the American audience.
That’s so interesting.
GROFF: So bizarre, right?
It’s also very bizarre.
GROFF: I know.
Switching gears completely — I appreciate you sharing the theater stuff — how early on did you know that the sequel was going to get made, and how long did you have to keep it a secret?
GROFF: I didn’t know early on at all. Probably a year and a half after the first one I found out that they were making a second one, and it was sort of like, they announced that they were making, they asked us to do it and they announced it sort of all at the same time, so I never felt like I was really keeping a secret.
Oh that’s not bad.
GROFF: No, not bad at all.
My favorite part of this movie is, besides the animation and everything, I love that there’s just no villain, that there’s no guy or girl trying to get her powers or come between them.
GROFF: Yeah.
It’s so refreshing.
GROFF: Yeah.
And it’s really so well done. Can you sort of talk about that aspect of the film?
GROFF: Yeah, I think that really, ultimately, the biggest challenge sort of that each of the characters have in kind of a general way is grappling with their own self growth and change. So Idina [Menzel] is scared of, but excited to follow, the voice that’s calling to her, and that sort of trickles down then into all of the characters. So Anna’s learning how to let her sister go, and let her sister do her own thing, and leave her to her own devices to survive. Olaf is asking really challenging existential questions about life as he gets older.
Of course.
GROFF: And Kristoff is ready to take his relationship to the next level with Anna, but he’s really not good at communicating and expressing himself. Then halfway through the movie is given an amazing ’80s inspired rock jam to be able to do so. (laughs)
That song — little kids are not going to get it. When I saw it last night, the adults in the audience were laughing hard.
GROFF: Right.
So talk a little bit about how that song really plays for adults.
GROFF: Yeah, totally. Bobby and Kristen Lopez told me that they were going to try and get a song in for my character in the movie. I thought, “That’s so nice of them to say that, but it just seems… How are you going to make the mountain man sing? I want to hear the girls sing. I want to hear Idina belt out a hundred numbers. Who wants to hear Kristoff sing?” I couldn’t figure out story-wise, because they’re so passionate and invested in storytelling as opposed to just writing catchy songs. And they thought of this amazing arc with Kristoff of him trying to propose and not being able to, and then ultimately getting frustrated by his inability to do so and busting out on this ’80s song, which I think that a lot of dudes, particularly parents of the kids that are coming to see the show, like you said, can relate to that genre and that time period in the ’80s as a way to really let it go and self-express. And Kristen Anderson-Lopez mentioned earlier, they wrote Let It Go for Elsa in the first movie and it inspired all these girls to feel their power. On the flip side of that, in the second movie, here is a song for a male character that perhaps will invite boys to get in touch with their feelings. Sven says, “You feel what you feel and your feelings are real. Come on Kristoff, let down your guard.” And so if little boys all over the world are hearing that, hopefully they’ll be inspired to express themselves.
It is pretty crazy to realize the first movie has been seen — I can’t even imagine the amount of people around the world that have actually seen the first movie, repeatedly.
GROFF: Yeah, right.
And to realize that this movie is going to be seen by maybe even more people.
GROFF: Yeah.
The power of the messaging in these movies is more important than I think a lot of people realize, and having that positive message… like your character is so different than what is normally written for the male love interest, if you will.
GROFF: Absolutely. I mean, that’s what I loved also about the first movie of Frozen is that the true love in the movie is between sisters as opposed to a woman looking for a man’s love, and even in the first movie, Kristoff, one of his lines in the beginning to Anna is, “You can’t marry a man you just met.” Whereas in all the old sort of Disney fairytales, it’s love at first sight, and one day my prince will come. So in the first movie, they sort of inverted those ideas, and made it more modern, and more contemporary, and more feminist. And they’ve done the same thing with this movie and with all of these characters, and particularly with Kristoff. Normally the girl is pining after the man, and the man leaves, and then she sings an emotional song, and this is the reverse, where Kristoff is struggling with how to communicate to the woman he loves. Then she goes off on an adventure without him, and he’s left alone to sing about his feelings. So very cleverly, the filmmakers have reversed that in this movie.
A hundred percent. I brought this up with a lot of other people. What will it take for you guys as a group to either do the Hollywood Bowl or go on tour where you play all the songs from the first Frozen and Frozen 2, as well as the cut songs that never made the movie?
GROFF: Yes, sign me up. Sign me up. I would do it in a second. All they would have to do is ask. I would do it in a second.
Okay, so you’re receptive to this?
GROFF: Absolutely.
Can you talk about some of the songs that you — because obviously Kristen and Bobby told me that the ratio on this one was that they only said they wrote seven songs that didn’t make the finished version, and on the first one they wrote like 2- something.
GROFF: For the first movie they wrote 20 songs?
But it makes sense though, because the first one they’re still figuring out the voices.
GROFF: The world of everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course.
Yeah. So like you’re writing, and writing, and writing to find the voices and find the movie, and in the sequel, they know the voices and the characters, so it makes sense to have written less —
GROFF: Yeah, there’s only so many places it could possibly go. It’s not like anything could happen, because the characters have already established who they are.
Did you have a song or two that didn’t make the finished film that you were sad to see go?
GROFF: I recorded a song while we were shooting Mindhunter, and I was in Pittsburgh, and I drove to New York on the weekend to record this song called “I Want to Get This Right.” And it was when in the story Kristoff was going to try and propose to Anna at the very beginning. It was not an ’80s jam. It was almost like a Jackson 5 kind of, like, uptempo R&B song. It was really cute, and I loved it, and I loved singing it, and it was Kristoff’s song, and then it became sort of a Kristoff-Anna duet song. I recorded it in New York over a weekend, and really felt like, “Oh wow. This is a huge part of the story that he’s trying to propose and he’s singing to her and it’s this proposal, so I don’t think the song is going to get cut, because it’s really like a part of the narrative of the story.” Then a couple months later, I come into a recording session, this time it was in Pittsburgh, and they were like, “So we changed the story and we cut your song. But we’re gonna write you another song, and it’s going to be an ’80s jam where Kristoff really, like, lives in his feelings.” I thought, “Oh, that’s so nice of them to say that, but surely that’s the most absurd idea I’ve ever heard and that will never happen.” And then it did.
Right, exactly. It all works out, because that song is fantastic.
GROFF: Yeah. Right, right.
Mindhunter — I can’t believe I get to bring this back. It’s a really great performance you have to do, and how much do you sort of submerge into that reality when you’re filming? Are you able to sort of shut it off and turn on Frozen, if you will, on like a weekend or on a weeknight when you have to go record something? That has to be challenging.
GROFF: The thing that’s similar about, I can’t believe there is a similarity, but the thing that is similar about Mindhunter and Frozen is that with Mindhunter, you’re working for David Fincher, which is like the ultimate safety net. You just know that you can do anything, you can try anything, you can throw it all up against the wall, and he’s going to go in and put together something great. So there’s this safety net as a performer that allows you to take risks and do things because you know he’s got this. You know?
Sure.
GROFF: Then on the flip side with Frozen, I just trust Jen and Chris and Bobby and Kristen so implicitly. They cut the song. It was a great song that I recorded, and they cut it because it didn’t work for the movie. They are very ego-less about the work that they produce, and they’re all very committed to the best possible story they can tell, and so in the same way in going to work for Frozen, it’s like I just make myself available to them. I just try and be as creative as I possibly can with the stuff that they give me, and throw it all up against the wall and see what sticks, and let them put it together and make whatever they want to make.
One of the things I want to bring up is that you are, unlike a lot of your cohorts, not on social at all. Or am I wrong about this?
GROFF: No, you’re correct.
Have you not had any pressure from a publicist or an agent? “You know, if you want to do Instagram, it wouldn’t be that bad.”
GROFF: No, I haven’t. I really haven’t. My agents and my publicists, they all, thankfully, get me, and so they totally understand that it’s just not my jam.
Sure.
GROFF: I feel like in order for it to be great, and positive, and productive, you have to really want to invest in it, and I hate how much I look at my phone already with text messaging, and so I just didn’t want to add another element to that.
Do you ghost on some of the social formats?
GROFF: No, I really don’t.
Really?
GROFF: I know, isn’t that crazy?
Because a lot of people say, “Oh, I’m not on Instagram.” But then they’ll be like, “But I ghost on it. I have a private account that nobody —
GROFF: No, I really don’t. I really don’t. Isn’t that weird?
No, I actually think it’s very healthy.
GROFF: Okay. It’s sort of ignorant. In certain ways ignorance is bliss where I’m sort of unaware of opinions and things like that, because I’m just not on social media at all.
Look, I think it’s an unhealthy obsession when you see people constantly taking selfies in every possible place just to… It makes me crazy, but that’s just me.
GROFF: It’s weird. Ironically, in the theater at Little Shop when we were in tech, I was the one with my phone out videotaping and taking pictures of everything, because I was like, “This is so much fun and I want to capture it.” And everyone is saying, “Why are you taking pictures? You’re not even on social media.” And I’m like, “Oh no, this is just for me to look at later.” So I do take a lot of pictures. I just keep them to myself or I text them to my friends or whatever.
So I have to ask you. Do you think in your gut feeling — because I know they have not talked about a Frozen 3 — but in another five years that there could be another?
GROFF: I mean, after the first one, I couldn’t even have imagined a Frozen 2, to be honest. When they said they were making a second one, I was thrilled to go back to work, but there wasn’t a piece of me that could have comprehended how you further the story. And then Jen and Chris and Bobby and Kristen came up with, I think, it’s a true masterpiece, and there’s never been a [theatrical animated] musical sequel made ever to a Disney film. So they broke ground with that. I think I would do anything that they do. I’m just following their lead.
Sure.
GROFF: I have no gut feeling about whether or not there will be a third one. I would just do whatever they asked me to do.
On that note, congratulations.
GROFF: Thank you.
