+ ( one thing I love about Mayday's book is that she honestly isn't perfect. she makes mistakes. she gets angry. she lashes out at people . Heck, when her father tries to make a point about how he feels its his responsibility to teach her properly so she doesn't make mistakes, this is what she fires back with. )

+ It wasn't HARD for a smile to spring to life atop Mayday's lips . There were FEW things that could just as easily make her DROP her guard as her SIBLINGS seemed able to do . Annie's own attempts at being a complete MENACE not withstanding .

That's worth it's own story , you think to yourself . Knowing that your little sister is absolutely never going to stop being a bundle of mischief and energy .

Tossing her mask down onto the TABLE , the white eye-pieces seeming to stare back at them both, Mayday knelt down so she could be at EYE-LEVEL with her brother . God, one minute she had LOOKED and he'd been the little baby in their mother's arms . Now ? She can already feel PRIDE bursting inside her . knowing that she hit the JACKPOT when it came to a younger brother .

[ Jury is still out on that one . Try again later. ] She signs back , still smiling as she playfully shakes her head a bit. [ Listen, I'm not trying to make it like you can't help . I'm just ... ]

A small sigh as she mulled over her WORDS .

[ You're my baby brother, and I want to protect you . It's hard not to. ]

+ " I ALWAYS do ! " Ok, that much wasn't ENTIRELY true . Her track-record, while pretty GOOD , was far from spotless . And considering the LAST TIME she'd been caught out in costume had involved SKIPPING a class to go and HELP defuse a robbery ? Maybe it was for the BEST not to imply that she hadn't ever BROKEN a rule when it came to her costume . Mask in hand, she quickly rushed over and gave her FATHER a quick kiss on the cheek .

" Promise . Nothing crazy . First sign of crazy and I'll come home. "

The familiar prickling feeling along the back of her head was giving ALL the confirmation of that that she needed and MORE . Quickly FIRING another line of webbing and RELEASING the old one, Mayday's heart was making a good SHOWING of trying to burst out of her chest .

Mayday and Uncle Ben

"So... we got a couple days to figure out what we're making for Thanksgiving... um, any ideas babe? I'm not exactly a wizard in the kitchen." Unless it can be made with a microwave. "I promised your mom we'd do better than doritos this time."

+ For once , Mayday seemed to be BURSTING with energy . A few easy nights in costume had done WONDERS for making sure that she didn't plop herself into bed EXHAUSTED . But with the HOLIDAY rapidly approaching, there was still PLENTY of time for other worries to take the place of SPIDER-CENTRIC ones .

" Could always spring for LAYS chips this time. " She teased, knowing that would go over as well with her MOTHER as Benjy or Claire refusing to come down from the CEILING would . And that was WITHOUT thinking about just how much of a MENACE Annie would surely be once the SMALLEST amount of sugar got into her . Leaning back into the chair, May pressed a finger to her lips, silently searching for IDEAS .

" Pie ? I mean, even if it's a STORE-BOUGHT one, it's the thought that counts, right ? "
