Annaliese had tried to keep her distance from Jakob since the announcement of his engagement. It was the sensible thing to do, since he would need to actually meet the princess to consider thanking her for her efforts. She'd hoped once he'd fallen madly in love with her that he would see Annaliese was only there to help him, but the plan looked as though it were failing on her part, considering how distastefully Maria was dressed. The worry over how it would be perceived was what pushed her to approach her brother-in-law. “I would say I apologize for the intrusion of your betrothal…” she said, glancing over at the other couples taking to the floor, “but it seems you and the Princess Maria are getting on quite well? If it were not for her choice of attire, of course..."

Opening: The act begins with Felix and Jakob standing in a darkened tent, surrounded by circular rings of fire. Jakob uses his pyrokinesis to ignite the rings, symbolizing the trial that Felix must endure. As the flames rise, Felix moves through the first ring, showing no fear or hesitation.

Pyrokinesis Display: Jakob skillfully manipulates the flames, making them dance and swirl around Felix as he performs. The audience watches in awe as the fire seems to obey Jakob’s will while Felix remains calm, moving through dangerous obstacles engulfed in flames.
