How is everything connected?
The theme I decided to choose for my final project for this class was dogs. I chose this theme due to the connection that dogs and humans can share with one another. Also this theme hits close to home because I always wanted to have a dog growing and always loved the energy dogs always gave out whenever around me. I always felt connected to dogs that I didn’t know. While other people can be aggravating, dogs will always be man’s best friend.

Significance
Out of all the artworks I chose my favorites were Shishi, Animals, and San Raphael. All three of these artworks interest me in very unique manners. San Raphael is definitely my favorite out of all these artworks, mainly because German Shepherds have always been my favorite breed of dogs. They’re super loyal to their owners, they can really tear shit up and their sleek, slim appearance just gives them their iconic nature. Shishi has to be my second favorite, because I have a natural pull towards ancient Asian culture. I’ve always been fascinated by it. This version of a lion dog is one of the different versions of this concept. This artwork was the Edo period’s take on the ancient guardian known as Shishi. Lastly, the artwork Animals painted by Rufino Tamayo is my third favorite because of the eerie vibe surrounding the painting. The painting uses dull darker shades color to depict two “evil” looking dogs surrounded by three bones. The way the background of this artwork was painted depicts to what my brain perceives to be the underworld. Which is Greek mythology’s version of hell. The two dogs depicted in the painting look to be the guardian dogs of the underworld, Hades’ dogs. I have a really huge interest in Greek mythology.
