Of course I’m obsessed with the swings/production exclusive ensemble characters, so you know I had to include them in the Warlock AU somehow! So here’s some other students who go to Jem’s school!

Olivia and Noilly are sisters, they transfer from Australia part way through the school year.

Etal is Gothenburg probably-Etcetera, bc I’m very attached to her design. Her name means basically the same thing as Etcetera!

“How’s he doing?”

Of all cats Munkustrap would have expected to see anxiously waiting for Mungojerrie outside the healers’ den, Pouncival was not one of them.  Yet here he was, eyes as wide and face as serious as he’d ever seen them, shifting anxiously on his back paws like he couldn’t get comfortable…

Cheek still swollen from the gash Macavity had put there.  Of course—it had only been because of Mungojerrie that he’d tried to join the fray.�� It all happened after Munkustrap had been knocked out, but Jerrie told him all about each brave cat who’d tried to stand up after he and Alonzo went down.  And first among them had been little Pounce, trying to jump Macavity from behind to avenge his friend, only to get slashed in the face for his trouble.  Munkustrap didn’t know whether to be proud or horrified.

“He’s fine,” he said gently.  “Jenny and Tantomile are taking good care of his shoulder, and Coricopat made sure he never went into shock.  Give him about a week, and he’ll be good as new.”

Pounce nodded, a noticeable amount of tension leaving his body.  “What about you?”

“I can manage, at least for a few minutes.”  Surely they wouldn’t bawl him out for just taking a little time to reassure everyone—his back had endured worse.  “And what about you?  Will you let me see it?”

Pounce batted his paws away.  “It’s fine.  I don’t feel a thing, honest.”

“Are you sure?

“Yeah, yeah, ‘m sure.”  Before Munkustrap had a chance to press him, Pounce quickly changed the subject—“Could I ask you something?”

“… You know you can ask me anything, son.”

“Okay.  Would—would you let me be a Protector if I asked?”

If Pounce had asked him if it were possible to turn into a Pollicle overnight, Munkustrap couldn’t have been more surprised.  Of all cats, Pouncival—carefree, impetuous, happy-go-lucky Pouncival who’d never looked before he leaped in his life—would never have struck him as Protector material.  He thought it would conflict too much with his schedule of playing and eating and hurling himself from the tallest rubbish piles he could find.  Then again, he’d never suspected the same of Electra when they’d first met, or that Tumblebrutus wanted to become a healer one day.  He shouldn’t assume—it wasn’t fair to either of them.

“Why do you want to be a Protector, Pounce?”

He shifted his weight again, as it tempted to just say “never mind” and dart off, never to broach the subject again.  “I mean, I—I couldn’t do what you and Alonzo do.  I’m not that brave.  But m-maybe I could do what Murad does?  Y’know, sit somewhere up high and tell everybody when danger’s coming?  I dunno, I just feel like… I was up on that big chair so much last night, and I never even thought of it.  Maybe I—I could’ve stopped Macavity getting in if I’d seen him.”

“No one would expect you to watch out for him all by yourself.”

“I know, but… I just wanna help.  That’s all.”

“Well, that’s very generous of you, Pounce.”  He rested his head over Pounce’s ears for a brief nuzzle, and he could feel more tension leaving the poor kit’s body even as he pulled away.  “I’ll have a talk with Alonzo and Murad once we���re all better, and we’ll see if you’d feel comfortable on sentry duty with them.  Would that be all right?”

Pounce nodded fervently.  “And… it really is okay if I’m up there by myself.  I’m used to it, and…I dunno, it’s really mushy to say it—”

“I won’t judge you, Pounce.  You can say it.”

His whiskers twitched, and he spent a long moment fixated on scratching his nose with one paw as he visibly worked up the courage.  “I just… wanna make sure my friends are okay.  Maybe I’ll see something somebody else won’t, and… I can make sure they don’t get hurt like that again.”

Munkustrap smiled.  “I’d say that’s about the best reason you could give for wanting to be a Protector. And the best thing is that you'll be surrounded by cats who want the same thing. You'll never have to do it alone.”  He pressed his nose against Pounce’s and chuckled as the kit reeled back with a startled squeal.  “You’re full of surprises, you know that, Pounce?”

Pounce grinned with a little swaggle of his head he’d no doubt learned from Mistoffelees.  “Will you come and get me once Jerrie’s out?  It’s no fun without him.”

“I will.  Oh, and tell Carbucketty he needs to come and see Tanto about his leg.”

“Awww, c’mon, he’s okay!  It’s not like he got it ripped off or anything, and it’s not bleeding!”

“Even so, we need to make sure it doesn’t get worse.  Now will you please go and get him?”

There was a definite grumble of “now it’s really not gonna be any fun,” but Pounce scampered off to do what he was told.  Any minute now Jenny would be yelling for him to come inside and stop aggravating his back, but Munkustrap spared himself enough time to watch him go, the smile lingering on his face.

He’d heard Old Deuteronomy say that no matter how much time he spent with the kittens, even his own, they always found ways to delight him with how many ways they were growing up.  This morning, Munkustrap knew exactly how he felt.

Saera Targaryen, daughter of Good Queen Alysanne and Jaeherys I - Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring 2023

She was also given to mischief and pranks. Saera always sneaked cats into the bedchamber of her sister Daella, knowing that Daella was afraid of cats, and once filled Daella's chamberpot with bees.When she was ten years old, Saera slipped into White Sword Tower, stole all the white cloaks of the Kingsguard that she could get her hands on and dyed them pink. When she was seven, Saera learned when and how to slip into the kitchens, making off with all kinds of treats. Before she was eleven, she had taken to stealing alcoholic beverages instead. By the time she was twelve, she was often drunk when she was summoned to the sept.

After her flowering, Saera took to the men at the royal court. When she was fourteen years old, Saera told her father that she wanted to become a queen like her mother, by wedding the Prince of Dorne or the King-Beyond-the-Wall. When she saw a trader from the Summer Islands, she declared that she might wanted to marry him as well. 

Eventually her parents had given her to the Faith, but Saera's wishes were elsewhere. She fled the motherhouse when she was a novice, and fled beyond the Narrow Sea. She stayed in Lys for a while, before going to Old Volantis, where she eventually became the owner of a famous pleasure house.

These are all brilliant, holy shit... and now to add some of my own:

When Jellylorum still lived with her old writer, she would help him tend to his tulip garden.  Her favorite place to sit used to be right by his bedroom window where she could always see the flowers.

Murad, Cassandra, Jenyanydots, and Munkustrap’s owners all have little window/balcony herb gardens that they are very meticulous about keeping the bugs out of.  One of Skimble’s girls started one, too, and he makes sure it’s well-tended when he’s away.

Victor’s owners have a decent-sized butterfly garden in a fenced-in area next to the bookshop, but Miauzara does most of the actual tending when she comes to visit.  Victor’s more the “sit in the shade and supervise” type.

Very important question: which Jellicle tends a garden and what do they grow?

Five Songs I'm Into Now (International Edition)

I've recently done one of these on my main blog here, so it's been great to highlight more songs that I've been vibing with of late!

This time, I've challenged myself to pick international songs since I listen to a wide variety; some of these have been long-time favourites of mine, while others are more recent. I discover a lot of new songs and genres using Radio Garden. (I highly recommend Transistor FM in Thessaloniki, Greece!)

I've also added a bonus song- my favourite from a band local to my hometown ✨

1. Frío Frío Live Version - Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 & Romeo Santos

From the Dominican Republic This one is a long-time favourite of mine- I've been listening to Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 since I was ~16ish and this is my favourite song of his. This live rendition with Romeo Santos is just *chefs kiss* and the whole live album is fantastic. It's also funnier if you watch the live recording of this song and realize that the reason the crowd goes so batshit when Romeo comes out is because he pops out of of a hole in the stage, it's so wholesome

2. T'Asteri Mou - Despina Vandi & Foivos

From Greece Something I used to do when I was playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey was listening to Greek music. Since then I've become addicted to Greek pop songs. This one popped up on the station I'd picked in Radio Garden and I fell in love. I was learning Greek a few years back now, but only remember the basics + some random phrases from Duolingo - did you know 'soup' is considered feminine in Greek??

3. Qefs Milion A - Martin Mkrtchyan

From Armenia This popped up on a random Armenian radio station while I was browsing Radio Garden, and it always makes me want to get up and dance! I have nothing interesting or informative to say here, aside from that this song slaps.

4. Invoke - T.M.Revolution

From Japan My partner and I recently watched all of Gundam SEED (my... fifth? sixth? time watching, his first) and I was reminded just how much I not only love this series but the music. Choosing which opening/ ending theme I'd include in this was a challenge! I studied Japanese from middle school right through to my first (and last) year at university. I still remember a bit, to the point of still being able to hold basic conversations/ ask basic questions.

5. Klefi / Samed (صامد) - Hatari & Bashar Murad

Icelandic & Palestinian Collaboration **warning for flashing lights in the video!** I discovered Hatari from their appearance in Eurovision in 2019 and the song they performed (Hatrið mun sigra) is a favourite of mine. This one has been on repeat more frequently now, for reasons I'm sure are obvious from the tumbnail. While in Israel for the competition, Hatari joined forces with a Palestinian artist, Bashar Murad, to create this song of resistance; the band also got a harsh response from the audience for displaying the Palestine flag during the competition's grand final. The video filmed for this song is very powerful, which is why I've added this link from YouTube instead of Spotify. I highly recommend watching it and having captions on for translation. Timestamp 2:48 is truly breathtaking. "After all this torture I'm steadfast, I won't bow down." From the rivers to the sea, Palestine will be free ��️

Bonus; Yoke - Teenage Joans

From Adelaide, Australia A new home grown favourite that I recently discovered, this song take me back to my emo/punk days. This song has been on repeat- in my headphones, my car and my home stereo. My poor husband and cats are probably sick of hearing it. Did you know Australians normally sing with a different accent, otherwise we sound ridiculous? Examples here: 1/2

Round 1 has been completed!

Uh... so, my goal for this round (mainly the round without any babies) was to have them fish for their lives. They would keep the less than §10 fishies to use for food, and would sell the more expensive ones.

With the big fish money, each tribe gets to buy 1 starter pack of fruits, veggies, and herbs. (I never really use these for food. Also so few of them are even in season for the never-ending summer the neanderthals have to survive through. They are more for the income.) Right now, each tribe only gets one of each, so hopefully they get a plant in season, or else they're... uh... they don't get any...

And... what else...right! Each day, a call is made to all the other tribes to come hang out. So, hopefully friendships can be made, which I plan to use when it comes to their children's marriages. Perhaps...

So... how do I want to do this?... Um... from the beginning? Sounds good. Here we go!

First family up: the Pamadam Tribe. (da red ones) Jiall & Gniba.

Overall, they had a slow start comparatively to other tribes around them. They ended the round with §36 in the proverbial bank. It took them a hot minute to catch anything. They did catch 2 cowplant berries... so, maybe that can come up with future descendants or something.

They got (in their packs): 3 bananas, 3 peppers, 8 parsley, and 3 sage for their plants, and sold 5 fish.

Next! The Lumesh Tribe. (yellow) Chedu & Irrig.

These two: scaredy cats. The big one, on the right: terrified of the dark. So, no night fishing, which... wasn't great. Also, thunderstormed almost 2 out of the four days, so, they wouldn't fish in the rain either. But, they did manage to get enough money to get all their gardening packs.

They got: 3 bananas, no veggies, 4 parsley, and 6 sage. They sold 8 fishies, and ended the round with §135. They have also got to harvest once so far... so, not so bad.

Wow... I got really bad at taking photos halfway through... whoops. Anyways...

Next! The Zival Tribe! (the blue ones) Etu & Croc.

Etu... loves digging in the trash. Loves it. Moving on. These two also had a really good first round. No hiccups really. During one of the thunderstorms, a cool rock was left. Added that to one of the many piles in the house. Kinda cool.

They got: 3 bananas, 3 peppers, 8 basil, and 3 sage for their plant packs. Not bad. Also, sold 9 fish and were able to harvest once for a grand total of §413 at the end of the round! 🥳

Only 2 more familes. We can do this!

This is literally the only one I have of them... I was trying to take a pic of the lump of clay turned into a teapot... I'm terrible at this... by the way, EVERYONE LOVES THE LUMP OF CLAY! Its... like... amazing to them...

The Rhosh Tribe! (GREEN!) Raan & Ubod.

So, Ubod hates children. So, hates the entirety of being pregnant... so... this is going to be awful for them. (I'm so sorry.) Another good round. Not top dog or anything, but not too shabby.

They got: no fruits (I believe they are the only family without bananas), 3 peppers, 8 parsley, and 4 basil. They sold 9 fish, harvested once, and ended the round with §234.

I took photos of these two together... but there isn't one where Umli isn't naked in them... So, I'll settle for this group shot (which I'm actually quite fond of). I will do better next round and get good photos (I will!).

The Murad Tribe! (black) Umli & Dheesi (not pictured).

Umli... is a character. Talks to walls. Takes showers outside. And, enjoys their body. A lot. But! On the plus side! They are super in love with Dheesi! They are adorable.

They got: 3 bananas, 3 peppers, 8 parsley, and 4 basil for their starter plants. They sold 9 fishies, and got to harvest crops once. They ended the round with §347.

So, we'll end this rainy round with that. Next time, many babies are anticipated and I'm sure chaos will ensue.
