ANCIENT ROMAN NECESSITIES. PART 1: WOMEN

I know, it's very unexpected. I've been having lots of fun with the Test of Time challenge, and then I got to Ancient Rome… and the fun ended :/ enormous respect to all creators who have made cc for that era, but it's just not enough. I hereby present to you the results of my latest hyperfixation.

the meshes are my own, frankenmeshed from maxis meshes and modified. no need to fret about violating my TOU, because I don't care. use, modify, recolor, include. they all should have fat and pregnancy (tf-af) morphs.

1) long-sleeved, low-waist tunic. because of… common sense reasons, it's suited best for women who are more well-off. tf-ef, 28 swatches. DOWNLOAD

2) tunic with a stola; again. tf-ef, 73 swatches… I am sorry. I went ham. the actual Romans probably weren't THAT fun with their color combinations, anyway, but my sims Romans will be. they all have pretty borders, for the sake of consistency. DOWNLOAD

3) simple shorter tunic for working class women. tf-ef, 20 swatches, no fancy dyes or borders. DOWNLOAD

I've finally finished playing the Picaso's next round. Bran and Gaba are getting along well and are now friends.

Gaba had her birthday and is now a child. Her favorite thing to do is playing with big brother Bran and she gained the lucky trait.

Bran meets Bumelia Parviflorum

But right after that the whole family passes out due to heat stroke. Only mom Jessica is still on her feet.

Jessica stays awake until evening falls and passes out just as her family wakes up. It does not last long, since the sun is down now.

Jessica has a want to have another baby and that night chimes are heard from inside one of the tents....

The next day Bumelia walks by again and she and Gaba become friends.

And Agapios Sipos walks by as well. No one seems to like him much, but at least he manages to catch a fish so he's going home with some food. The Sipos family has just moved in from elsewhere and will soon be played.

The next evening Jessica finishes potty training Dob. It's a good thing she got that done before the new baby arrives.

In the last night of this round with the Picaso's, Jessica gives birth to their second son. They name him Mondi.

Happy October, everyone!

It is quite sad, but I have landed on a deadly scenario for the Oranges. It's supposed to be death by poison, which makes a lot of sense for this season which is filled with feasting. With how much wine is being drunk chances are someone might come up with the idea of putting something special in one of the cups...

But who would poison Damu Orange, and why? It's not like he has enemies, but he doesn't have lots of friends either. Did someone think it unfair that Damu got to marry princess Tefnut (one of the original emperor's daughters, before he rose to power)? Is someone envious that the Oranges have connections to the imperial family and it's so easy for them to get the emperor himself to attend their parties?

Or maybe it's because of the patriarch of the family, Ninurta... While he didn't make enemies with anyone, he made quite a lot of 'service' sims fall head over heels in love with him. He also was the first sim to turn into a werewolf and he started a supernatural garden after the local garden club lady had supplied him with special seeds.

Although he's young, the heir Ninildu already has quite a few friends, mostly his family members, but also Sampsa Imago and Primula Venus. The only member of the imperial family who isn't friends with him would be Nepri. But I don't think Primula Venus or Nepri would poison the Oranges. The Oranges 'found' Venus and let her stay with them before she moved in with the Wolfens. Would Nepri be jealous they lived with Venus? I don't think he knew that she lived with them. Most sims in my town must think Venus is connected to the Wolfens rather than the Oranges since she 'adopted' or maybe 'mothered' the first alien baby in town. So if anything Nepri would be jealous of the Wolfens, not the Oranges.

Either way, I don't think this would have been a murder of kin... which would put the Tia family under suspicion. I don't think the Tias are very vengeful, at least for now. We don't know yet if the Orange name will survive, but they have a living male heir. The same cannot be said about the Tias. So this could lead to a rivalry, but for now I don't think the Tias would compete against the Oranges. After all they have a higher station and their descendant is going to become the empress.

Ninildu realized he had quite a bit of attraction towards the local cashier who sells clothes and other goods. He approached her while she was working and asked her to meet him outside of her 'working hours'. She agreed to come over the following day.

The young lady's name is Adriana Lam and she is quite proficient at using the cash register (but I'm sure she'll forget all of that when I make her playable).

Ninildu got a crush on Adriana almost immediately. It took a lot longer for her to succumb to Ninildu's charms. She is a shy knowledge sim, but she likes red hair, so there is definitely some attraction on her part. It was just a little harder and slower at first, especially that she didn't have the ACR token I could have totally given her. At first I thought that Adriana wasn't rolling a lot of wants during the date, but it changed when their relationship increased. In the end the pair became best friends and they shared their first kiss.

There is no reason for them to rush getting married as teens, but Ninildu might want someone to give him a helping hand in running the store, especially an experienced cashier. Running the house alone is no fun for a teenage boy and his dog.

Shortly after the date Ninildu decided he would like to 'go out' with Adriana. I thought this would work well for the poisoning scenario. There would be a party on the Oranges' lot, but the son wouldn't be there to witness his father's death, so he would have no clue as to who the culprit behind this murder was (to be honest I have no idea who the culprit is either).

One thing that makes me really sad is that there was noone creative enough in this house to paint a picture of Damu. Even though Damu painted multiple pictures of his dad and his son, there are no pictures to remember him by...

Ninildu didn't earn very much because he only opened his store at the very end of the round. That's because I didn't want his dad to help run the establishment.

For now it's a general store, mostly selling harvestables. He has to stock up on milk and he has too few goats to sell animal products. I would really like to turn this business into a dairy (milk and cheese) store someday, but it's impossible to do with only one pair of farm animals.

Ninildu got a positive review, but his grandfather's ghost appeared on the day of the opening of the store... I was afraid he would scare everyone, but I think the ghost disappeared as soon as Ninildu closed the store. I didn't want to shoo away the business reviewer, so I waited for her to leave before everyone was safe from the haunting presence.

He earned around 230$ this round. He has some spare money to pay the bills for now.

He will pay the burial fee of 200$ when I move both of the graves to the cemetery. He paid 615$.

Hera Flori, the teen servant, is a terrible customer. She didn't want to buy anything and I'm not even surprised Ninildu's dog decided to chase her.

I didn't realize it when I was playing, but I did when I looked at my notes later. She must be jealous that Ninildu got together with Adriana! She kept showing how attracted she was towards Adriana on the community lot when Ninildu was flirting with her. I should have taken a picture when the wolf was chasing Hera, but I didn't realize there was more drama behind her behaviour.

my Colosseum is only two stories high, but it has working seats on both stories! the cool thing is that sims automatically go to sit somewhere, even if there aren't that many sims at the lot. it's certainly been an interesting experience trying to make a mini version of everything. and I'm not a great builder, but at least when it's something historical, I like the process a lot.

I also wanted to show the thermae, which I can't seem to find the time to visit. maybe I'll make it a rule that once per season at least one person in a household must go there, so they'd socialize a bit?

there are two sections - one on the left is for men, one on the right is for women (slightly smaller). they're nicely separated by appropriate doors, so there will be no shenanigans in public baths, at least. in each section, there is a dressing room, a room for sweating, a room for "washing" in a hot tub (and sweating again), and a room with a cold pool. since none of these raise hygiene, there are also little rooms with bucket showers for those who want to actually wash themselves. I think I have a mod that makes it so that swimming raises hygiene, but I'm not sure if pools count.

Working on tweaking the aspiration calculator...and popularity looks like it might have had a mistake in it (instead of subtracting lazy it was subtracting grouchy). I don't think I'm going to change the aspirations of my already teens, but upcoming will be adjusted to my tweaks. We'll see what happens...

ANCIENT ROMAN NECESSITIES. PART 3: LENGTHY WRAPS, JUST LIKE ON THOSE STATUES

WARNING: CLIPPING ISSUES. these are ACCESSORIES, so they don't have morphs and are prone to clipping through the body mesh. 1) I made them to fit the fat+pregnant morphs specifically. they might look too spacious on thinner frame in the front. 2) I have tried to reduce clipping to minimal amounts, so the issues aren't that annoying. I made these for myself, and just to be clear - I don't think they're really worth publishing. I can't promise I'll go fixing the clipping issues later, because at this point, they are a trade-off (I make one thing better and ruin the other). sitting, standing, walking, flailing arms a little bit should look fine, but download at your own risk!

toga for tm-em. we don't have a lot of variety here. ~1200 polys.

plain white is supposed to be toga virilis, white with purple borders - toga praetexta, purple with golden borders and pattern - toga picta (my best attempt at it, anyway), and dark one - toga pulla. toga praetexta is not available for teens: too old to be a child in need of protection, too young to be a senator.

pallium for men, in cases toga is too formal or just doesn't fit the status. a little bit different from palla, both in terms of mesh and swatches. not perfectly happy with this one, but if you don't look closely enough, it'll do. 796 polys.

they're for teens to adults, but enabled for elders; they're also unisex - wow, a male pantless bottom! they're medium-poly at just 2354 polys. 13 swatches, all other ages are repo'd to adults of their gender. categorised as everyday, formal, and outerwear!

What is the Test of Time challenge?

The Test of Time challenge was first created by anna220 and is based on, or follows, their original ruleset at ModTheSims. It is a multi-generational, extremely complex historical challenge that follows your sims from the Stone Age to modern times.

How did you discover this challenge?

It was widely popularised by PleasantSims back in 2021 with their own ruleset and accompanying streams, right around the time that I was first 'really' getting into The Sims 2. While I no longer support nor am affiliated with Cindy in any way, I still find this to be my absolute favourite Sims-related challenge to play.

Why did you create this sideblog?

I have always struggled to find CC and mods that are appropriate to this challenge, especially in the mostly-uncharted Roman Era. So I'm trying to compile everything I've been able to find in one place for my own sanity, plus help make the transition simpler for

What era are you at?

I am currently at the Roman Era, playing in my custom neighborhood, Lake Ego or The Egoan Empire. So the self-made content that I post to this blog will be heavily influenced by the era that I am playing in 🙂

Will you ever post your downloads folder?

I'm happy to post mod lists and other recommendations, yes. But I will never upload my Test of Time downloads folder in its entirety. Possible conflicts and creator TOUs aside, it's 18 darling GBs large and I'm not paying OneDrive to upload it.

Why is your icon the Grim Reaper?

Since I lost a household because of the Ramaswami / Cooke / Strongarm households merging a new family moved into the neighbourhood. Welcome to the Traveller family! Since everyone in the neighbourhood has kids now, the Travellers seemed a good match.

Trent and Trisha start by getting the trees and plants they inherited from the Ramaswami's back in order.

Prehistoric Bella Goth walkby. I have never seen her walkby much in my previous games, but in this household and game she loves to walk by!

Tina has a want to add a pet to the household so she greets Sheba, unfortunately she does not manage to adopt the doggy before she walks off again.

Trent meets Julien Cooke who of course starts talking about cooking right away.

Tina greets Conopholis Parviflorum.

Conopholis keeps telling jokes and playing pranks on everyone, I have never seen him be this silly in his own household! He thinks he is absolutely hilarious, but Trisha does not agree and gets mad.

Tina is completely oblivious when her parents conceive a sibling for her, but walkby Christy Stratton thinks it highly inappropriate.

That night Tina bonds with her parents over dinner and fishing. She is now best friends with both of them.

The next day Conopholis walks by again and he and Trisha share the latest stoneage gossip. They become friends quickly.

Tina still wants a pet and tries to befriend Scout and Poochka without success.

Conopholis and Tina have become very good friends and share a special greeting.

Orlando Centowski gets surounded by ball games.

Taba Maina walks by again just as Tina rolls a want to become friends with her.

A storm with lots of rain and thunder starts and one of the trees catches fire, the panic lasts much longer than the actual flames. (And I spent about 15 minutes getting that name tooltip to work as a censor bar)

Taba leaves after the fire and Tina didn't become friends with her. She only has pet related wants left now. She tries to befriend doggy Tucker (his name would fit well with this family) but fails again.

Just before the end of the week, Trisha gives birth to baby Tarek. Apparantly she thinks it's a good idea to put a newborn on the ground in the rain.

Tarek gets a warm stone and fur crib and Tina spends the last afternoon of this round playing with Vac Strongarm and Gaba Picaso.

Final little Akoko household post. The family is now growing um, some grain type (city slicker gang gang) and the rain is much appreciated. After changing baby Adie, Suyana gets herself a new top while Ibukun warms up from the rainy fieldwork to get ready for homework, with which his mom helps.

She really has her hands full now that Oorun is working away from home, sometimes staying in her sleepwear until evening when it's time to make dinner for everyone. but she manages to teach little Pataki to talk or sing i guess (id ont remember lol). Also Ewa brought her cousin Yiyara home from school, cool
