going a little insane thinking about that one echo in moxxi's heist that's jack calling his mom on mother's day- a call she very much does not answer- and how much the sadness in his voice when saying goodbye says about him

ok ok hear me out i don’t think davey is good at pranks. but he is GREAT at scaring people

he’s tall and skinny, so his go-to is always standing behind doors to pop out and scream at whoever walks into the room. he can also be surprisingly loud and has a great poker face. with jack, it’s so easy to get him; all david has to do is interrupt a normal sentence he’s saying with something alarming and loud and loud and jack is gone. like:

“If you’re hungry, I think we should have lunch at that deli on the— oh SHIT WATCH OUT WATCH OUT—“

and jack falls for it every. goddamn. time. with this, he also loves throwing in frantic arm tapping and pulling, like he’s trying to remove jack from the danger— more often than not it results in jack tripping over himself.

race is pretty easy for davey to scare; all the love to race, but he’s usually talking loud and fast, and he’s not the most observant fella, so it’s easy for davey to sneak up behind him. i think davey is a pretty quiet walker, so if race is talking and doing something with his hands (cooking, washing dishes, etc.) davey will sneak right up on him and just wait. eventually race will turn around and whatever thought he was vocalizing is absolutely replaced with a loud “OH FUCK”.

with everyone else, he just switches things up— he’s scared albert by tapping him on the shoulder, he’s scared kath by just making a facial expression— and he’s not a scary guy, he’s just good at being the element of surprise. somehow no one seems to expect it.

he’s my baby I love him sm he is Mine

he’s basically a scrapped third delancey. canonically 22 but I age him down, working for weasel alongside oscar and morris. weasel is shown to be very physical with him (flinching etc) and also morris which is just. I think about it a lot

hard promises in general is a Lot. davey gets called a slur. jack has a baby brother called michael who was killed under a wagon wheel trying to escape snyder. davey hits him. he gets as far as being on the train to santa fe. he goes back to the lodgings after he scabs and gets ‘treated like a leper’ it’s horrible. basically just considerable darker in themes than what we ended up with and really fascinating because it’s a much more concentrated version of the (let’s be honest) dilute reality of life for these boys. no feelings are spared and I have a love hate relationship with it
