Magic The Gathering Deckbuilding Prompt:

60 card deck

Any cards printed in the last 20 years (please don’t use the ones that are banned if you know you know)

24 Lands exactly; at least 12 of which are Basic

Limit: 1 mythic rare max

Limit: 4 rares max

Limit: 16 uncommons max

I want to see what sort of deck you/“your blog” would show up with if I had an informal tournament along these lines. Trying to keep the power level/ budget approachable. Consider it an offbeat way to express yourself. I’ll put mine in a reply here.

"Everyone put the top five cards of your library into your graveyard," Wind said with a wide grin. Everyone else groaned.

Sky picked up his top card and gasped. "No, not my Trapped in a Tower!" Sky cried, cradling the card in his hands.

"Hell yeah, get rid of it!" Legend cheered. "Noting can stop my boar now!"

Sky frowned and reluctantly placed the card in his growing graveyard pile.

"You killed two of my rats," Wild said with a frown.

"You'll get them back," Hyrule said unenthusiastically, head propped on his head.

"True," Wild admitted.

From his seat in his office, Time sighed. The Magic game had been going for an hour and a half and showed no signs of ending soon. So much for a peaceful Sunday catching up on work.

Time leaned back in his chair at just the right angle to see the living room and propped his feet up. At least he got to watch his kids have fun.

Ok so you know the drill, I’ll give a prompt and you can respond to it by answering directly, doing a doodle, making a custom card, a little flash fic, or whatever feels right and most fun for you! (Heck, do multiples if you want, this is just for fun!)

Hello everyone! I have a fun prompt today that has various levels of participation to choose from! >:3c

So basically, I love mtg Jumpstart. It’s such a fun idea and I love that it’s a place to print unusual strategies without having to dedicate a whole set to it. My husband and I love buying some from time to time and do blind plays. It’s exciting when neither of us know what we’re doing xD

So my prompt(s) for you my dear friends, is what theme would you just love to see in a Jumpstart pack? Heck even if they’d one it before, maybe you just want more! Or explored in a different color.

Idea two, put together your own Jumpstart pack deck list 👀 From what I’ve seen of deck make-ups it seems that generally, in a 20-card Jumpstart pack you get about 7 basic lands, 1 “thriving” land, 5-7 commons, 4-5 uncommons, and 1-2 rares/mythics.

Idea three, same as above but invent some custom cards for your theme! We’ve seen some cool new cards in Jumpstart and I’m excited to see what we’ll continue to get!

And offer an alternative I will. If Rakdos were to attempt to kill any guild leaders, the pact's protections of him would wane. Its powers could be invoked for the indefinite imprisonment of him in a detention sphere. Of course, with him being satiated, and not outright stupid, he's no reason to pick a fight. The funny thing with The Guildpact is that whoever strikes first will inevitably lose, and The Azorius are more patient than The Rakdos could be in a decamillenial.

If you had to get rid of one guild, which would it be?

Very difficult choice, so lets make an itemized list! Required and in need of little systemic reform: The Azorius! While I am biased, The Azorius have done significantly less wrong than each other guild, and have always made efforts to improve themselves. Law is the foundation of this beautiful plane, and destroying The Azorius is the worst possible choice. The Selesnya also serve a wonderful purpose in Ravnica, and even with their recent controversies, I fully support the Conclave and hope for more collaborations in the future. The Dimir, if you don't believe the countless conspiracies about them, also haven't done anything wrong. Required, but in need of heavy systemic reform: The Izzet League, while their casualties are far higher than acceptable, cannot be gotten rid of as it stands. Their efforts towards infrastructure are simply too vast. The Golgari, The Simic, and The Orzhov all do an incredible amount for this city, but the amount of lives lost at their hands is too high to ignore. Debatably a net loss for Ravnica: The Boros Legion are a perversion of the ideals of law, and must be rebuilt from the ground up with stricter adherence to our statutes. Absolutely a net loss for Ravnica: Rakdos Cult's files SAY that they do important mining work, but that's not what you know them for. Though, their status as a smudge on Ravnica's goodness, and not an actual systemic threat keep them from the lowermost tier. Destroy at all costs: The Gruul are not a guild and serve no purpose for Ravnica's prosperity. They are a threat to everything each and every one of you holds dear. If I truly had my way, they'd all be reformed and functional guildless with a snap of my fingers.
