CF Queen? Maybe?

Soyoun couldn’t help but blink in surprise when she was informed that she will be filming a CF all by herself. To make things even more exciting, she will be filming for a brand she actually uses. She supposes it will be easier to convince people that a product is good if it is something she truly likes. She recognizes the product as one of the lipsticks Innisfree had generously given when they sponsored their graduation fashion show. She had gotten to try them when the makeup artists insisted on fixing her up before she went onstage, and she had come to like them. Now, she gets to shoot a commercial for these lipsticks. 

She’s given a short script to memorize. The lines are fairly easy, and Soyoun thinks she should be able to do this well.  Then, she’s asked to sit and hold a rose while looking at the camera. “Let’s learn about our new MLBB Color,” she says in a cheerful voice. Before she can progress further, the director calls out “Cut!” Confused, she turns to the director. 

“Try not to be too cheery,” the director says. “We’re going for a calm, neutral approach.” Soyoun nods and tries saying the opening lines again. Before they film, the director advises her not to be too cheerful with her expressions as well. He explains that calm expression will work best for the vibe they’re going for, as per the company’s brief. Soyoun then tries using her reporting for class face, which isn’t too blank, but still calm.

“As elegant as velvet,” she continues once her expressions and tone are approved. She holds the lipstick as instructed. However, she’s made to repeat the line several times as the director instructs her to say the line in different ways and move the product in several angles. When the director is satisfied they move on to the next part. 

“Eucan Jangmi (Crushed Rose),” she says to the camera as if she’s telling a secret. Although she’s praised for her tone and expression, she’s still instructed to try various ways of saying the name of the shade. They also shoot different angles of her saying the name of the product over and over again. She also moves the product around in different ways, making sure the brand name is visible. 

She also says it more slowly, as if teaching people to say it. It’s a brilliant idea, if she’ll admit it to herself. People knowing how to say it decreases the chances of them messing up when they go to the store. 

The next scene requires her to hold up a mirror, and then when cued, turn to the camera and say the name of the shade. “Eucan jangmi?” It takes them all a couple of takes to get it right for different reasons. The first one, Soyoun almost dropped the mirror. The next, the camera died on them. The rest were mostly experimenting until they got the shot they all wanted. 

Finally, Soyoun was to be filmed applying the product on her lips. This was probably both the easiest and most tedious part of the shoot. After all, she was already wearing the lipstick. However, the way she had to swipe it had to look neater than what she usually does. To her relief, she finally manages it, and simply lets them shoot a few beauty shots before it’s a wrap. 

Soyoun makes sure to thank every single member of the team, from the director down to the cleaning crew, for working hard today. Shooting this was difficult, but it was an interesting experience. She wouldn’t mind doing something like this again in the future.

Usar Git SDK con Hyper en Windows 10

Queriendo mejorar mi terminal Hyper en Windows, me encuentro con que MSYS2 usa un home dentro de su instalación, cosa que debe configurarse para que use el home c/users/myuser, y a la vez nos encontramos con que MSYS2 no quiere leer nuestros comandos de Windows, así que también se debe configurar el Path...

Me encuentro con una alternativa bastante buena, Git for Windows, la cual permite usar todo lo que tenemos en nuestro CMD común y corriente, pero que también nos permite hacer uso de la Bash de Linux.

El problema con Git for Windows, es que en sus ultimas versiones viene solo con el paquete git y lo más básico de Bash, y entre lo básico no se encuentra ningún gestor de paquetes, como lo es Pacman.

Así que existen dos maneras de resolver este problema:

Instalar el Git SDK y copiar sus paquetes al Git for Windows que ya tenemos.

Usar Git SDK como el shell para Hyper.

Para ambas opciones necesitamos si o si instalar el Git SDK en nuestro equipo desde su página oficial (https://gitforwindows.org/).

Nota: Ten en cuenta que necesitarás al menos 6GB de espacio libre para esta instalación.

Copiar pacman del Git SDK a Git for Windows:

Ahora, debemos copiar el archivo ${git_sdk}\usr\bin\pacman.exe a ${git}\usr\bin.

Copiaremos  ${git_sdk}\etc\pacman.config y ${git_sdk}\etc\pacman.d a ${git}\etc.

Finalmente copiaremos la carpeta ${git_sdk}\var a ${git}

Suponiendo que recién hayas instalado git for windows y aun no lo hayas puesto en tu .hyper.js, reemplazarás esta linea en él:  shell: 'C:\\Program Files\\Git\\bin\\bash.exe',

Ahora debemos ir a la carpeta donde está instalado nuestro git, por lo general es Program Files, buscamos la carpeta Git y le damos clic derecho, Propiedades, desmarcamos la opción solo Lectura, iremos a la pestaña Seguridad y le daremos editar a cada Nombre de grupo o Usuario, marcando control total en todos los casos. 

Clic al botón aplicar y luego aceptar.

Refrescamos nuestro Hyper (CTRL + Shift + F5) y listo!

Donde ${git_sdk} equivale al directorio donde instalamos el Git SDK y ${git} es el directorio donde está instalado nuestro Git for Windows de toda la vida.

Usar Git SDK como Shell para Hyper:

Lo que haremos será instalarlo, teniendo en cuenta que este pesa 6GB a comparación de MSYS que pesa 1GB nada más o el paso uno que solo son como 50mb de peso extra al Git for Windows.

Una vez hecho esto, reemplazaremos en nuestro .hyper.js la siguiente linea: shell: 'C:\\git-sdk-64\\usr\\bin\\bash.exe',

Refrescamos nuestro Hyper (CTRL + Shift + F5) y listo! 

Ahora mismo ya contaremos en ambas opciones con la opción de Pacman en nuestro shell en Hyper.

Tener en cuenta que seguir con el Git for Windows nos traerá problemas a futuro si necesitamos algún paquete especifico que este no traiga por defecto, recordemos que es solo una herramienta para hacer uso de GIT.

You... Know Me?

Soyoun is aware she’s not well-known compared to some of the other trainees who participated in other events. After all, she had preferred to lie low, improve her skills, and stay in school in her three years with the company. She hadn’t had the courage to participate in many company-run events unless they were mandatory. Now that she’s leaving school and hopefully toward bigger and better things with Legacy, she finally has more courage to show her face. 

There’s a lot for Soyoun to do as she becomes the designated photographer for her fellow trainees’ fans. This all started when Soyoun and Jieun were just messing around, and a fan approached them. The fan had requested to take a photo with a flustered Jieun and had asked Soyoun to take the photo. Soyoun kindly obliges. After all, this is one of her babies becoming famous right before her eyes. From there, more of Jieun’s fans approach them, asking to take photos with her. Some ask to take photos with Soyoun, too. Soyoun can’t help but wonder whether they know who she is. The rest simply go on their merry way without thanking her. 

“My Jieunnie is becoming a star!” Soyoun says as she pinches Jieun’s cheeks. Despite being happy for Jieun, Soyoun wonders whether her fans will show up. Or if she even has any fans to begin with. 

When Jieun moves on to hang out with another trainee, Soyoun decides to help the other volunteers by handing out snacks and drinks to both the idols and the audience. As she hands out snacks to the fans, one of them calls out her name. She looks up to see a banner with her name and face on it. She then asks the volunteers to leave that section for her to give snacks to. She runs up to them with snacks and drinks in tow. Huffing and puffing, she reaches the top section with a wide smile. 

“Y-You know me?” She asks in between gasps for breath. 

“Of course! Soyounuuuh~” The fans says with a smile as she sings Soyoun’s signature introduction. “Ack, I can’t do that as well as you do!” Soyoun chuckles at the attempt. She has to admit, it’s a good attempt.  

Another fan interrupts. “You’ve been here for so long, but you should come out more often.” 

“We miss seeing you,” another fan agrees. “Only the Ehwa kids get to see you... and they probably don’t even appreciate you.” 

Soyoun finds herself blushing. She wasn’t expecting to make an impact, considering there are more popular trainees around. She had spent a long time hiding from her peers as she worked on being her best self. 

“We hope to see you more often, noona!” a young boy says. “You’re always so pretty, and you make me laugh whenever they let you talk. I want to see you more often.” 

Soyoun smiles as she hands out snacks to them all. “Thank you so much for being patient with me. I promise to do my best to show myself more to you guys. I hope I can meet you all again soon...”

He Shoots! He Scores!

MCing Booth Experience

Soyoun wouldn’t call herself a fan of sports, but she always thought it was interesting to try her hand at giving sports commentary. As much as she wanted to clown around and give not exactly knowledgable commentary on the sports, she had been given instructions to take this MCing booth seriously. After all, there were fans watching. Soyoun supposes she's grateful for all those basketball games her cousins dragged her to back then. She likes to think she has picked up some knowledge over the years. At least enough to make an informed opinion on the matter.

"Hello, everyone! It's your girl Soyounuuuh oh yeah~" She sings into the microphone as she finally takes a seat in the MCing booth. "I will be joining you for the first three minutes of the final quarter of this current basketball match! We're happy that you can join us for this edition of ISAC." She looks at the script handed to her before, taking in all the words before she recites the provided spiel. "It has been all about tenacity and zone defense for the Blue Team as they prevented the Yellow Team from executing their plays or even getting the ball in the court." It's clear that the statistician put in a lot of work into this to make it easier for them to do their commentary. She then throws in some of her own observations of the previous quarter. "Most importantly, the Blue Team dominated inside the paint with 24 points as opposed to the Yellow Team's nine. Blue Team lucked out with having a very tall center and strong four and  five players. Three-point shooting was also in the Blue Team's favor, as almost all those sent on the floor were able to shoot at around 41%."

She takes a look at the five players on both sides of the floor and names them all. She's lucky that she doesn't need the cue card as she's familiar enough with the game to able to comment on it as it is. "This is exactly what the Blue Team has been doing with all their opponents," she explains to the audience. "Notice how they don't go up straight in their opponent's face. Instead, Blue Team prefers to control the space the Yellow team is operating in." She gasps as one of the players shoots from rainbow country. "Yoon sunbaenim tries again! He misses. Picked up by Wang! He slams it all the way home! Oh yeah!"

As the replay is being shown, Soyoun's three minutes are up. "This has been Min Soyoun, and I hope to see you all again next time! Skrrrt!"

Miss Vedi Vero

After the stunt she and Jaehwa pulled at the Vedi Vero fan sign, Soyoun was relieved that the marketing people and the fans enjoyed it enough for her to warrant a renewed contract. Being a model for anything fashion-related was exactly up her alley, and it was a sign that even if she doesn’t own her own label or isn’t working for a big-name fashion house, she is still relevant enough to the fashion industry. At least relevant enough for brands to actually want her. This collaboration with Baskin Robbins was something she would have loved to work on if she was going to be honest. The designs and colors were so funky, and the function aspect was something she would have also loved to contribute to. But alas, there are dreams that cannot be.  

She picks up a pink and white cat-eye framed one inspired by her favorite flavor Gone with the Wind. She then takes them off to compare them with her second option. She gently picks up the darker-framed one inspired by Mom is an Alien. Both frames are cute on her. The pink one matches her usual image and vibe, while the darker ones remind her of a vintage Chanel pair her mom owns. She can only hope and pray that the Baskin Robbins and Vedi Vero teams let her take home at least one or two because these look so cute.

Thankfully, the team informed her that she got to show off at least two sunglasses when she did the interview with LGC Access. This certainly made her life a lot easier as she took both sunglasses to the interview.

When asked to choose which sunglasses she would recommend from the collaboration, Soyoun then put up both her picks. "This pink one inspired by Gone With the Wind looks so cute and pretty, doesn't it? It gets bonus points for being based on my actual favorite Baskin' Robbins flavor." She puts on the pink sunglasses and does a few poses for the interviewer and the many cameras filming them. She has to give them various angles to work with. When she finishes with those, she then puts on the darker, classier-looking pair. "This one is inspired by Mom is an Alien, and in my opinion has the same vibe as those of a luxury brand beginning with C I'm not sure I'm allowed to name." She playfully winks at the cameras for good measure. Once again, she poses with the sunglasses, transitioning in facial expressions and angles.

Soyoun couldn't help but laugh when the interviewer asked her to strike a pose and recreate her Miss Universe-like performance at the fansign that had apparently gone viral. Regardless, Soyoun walked, posed, and did the slow-mo turn accordingly. She had refined her walk from the last time, and she can only hope it is a performance worthy of Catriona Gray's attention.

"I guess we can temporarily call this the Vedi Vero walk?" Soyoun replies with a laugh when asked what she would have named her walk if she were to compete with that performance in Miss Universe. "Or if we want to avoid copyright issues, we can call this the Sunglass Walk. I'm accepting names for it, pageant fans, please and thank you!"

How to Save a Life... And Look Hot

It seems like the marketing team behind Caribbean Bay liked her enough to allow her to renew a contract with them. She isn’t sure that she made a hot or convincing lifeguard, but she guesses that it was good enough for the marketing team. After all, being booked is better than being idle, she supposes. 

Even if said exposure is both literal and metaphorical. After all, they will be filming in tank tops and other lifeguard worthy clothing in the middle of autumn. Temperatures are going down, so filming in bare minimum clothing isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. However, a job is a job. Soyoun has no choice but to grin and bear it to the best of her abilities. 

They aren’t really required to learn actual lifeguard skills, Soyoun is glad that they are at least taught to make it look close to the real thing on camera. After all, they are idols-to-be, not actual lifeguards who will be in charge of people’s welfare. Even then, she is aware of how nitpicky the general public is. Looking hot will no longer suffice in this industry. You have to have some “IT” factor as well as talent to back you up. They are salespeople in a way, she supposes. They have to give the Caribbean Bay lifeguards a positive image. 

The script and flow of the commercial are similar to the previous one. They have to look and act like lifeguards. Soyoun can’t help the shudder she lets out when she sees that she has a swimming scene. Thank God she learned how to actually swim. She can only hope and pray that it’s a heated pool. Her respect for models who do underwear and swimsuit shoots in freezing weather has increased tenfold. 

In between takes, Soyoun makes sure to joke around with the other trainees and cheers them on in their individual shots. It’s more fun working with her friends after all. It sort of makes the overall vibe feel warmer than it would have if she was shooting alone. She can only hope that the viewers will appreciate their hard work and come to Caribbean Bay.
