I Feel Sun is going to be my roan/cassandra fic; the title is take from the in-game song "i am the one." i got the idea shortly after finishing roan's playthrough, and i want it to be a non-linear style story, exploring how such two different people end up together, while also fixing the various things i dislike about how cassandra ultimately interacts with a dalish love interest. i have only the first paragraph written, since writing it will likely require replaying, and i just have not had the time for that lmao

The night was warm, and Skyhold’s courtyards were filled with revelers celebrating the defeat of Corypheus. The Inquisitor moved among them—laughing, dancing, sharing drinks—letting them worship their fill. Cassandra watched contentedly from Skyhold’s entrance, before she turned and headed out to the garden. It was quiet there. The sky was velvet dark, dotted with starts; the sweet scent of blossoms filled the air.

The planchette froze for an instant, thrumming under their fingers like a hornet's nest, and then snapped across the board so suddenly they all yelled out, its message, its answer, its accusation all the same: Y O U.

How can I tell him what it meant?

It sounds so doltish no matter how I order the words. I write them, I speak them to no one and always, always it sounds so young. They all need to trust me and trust that I’m sharp enough to pull us all through to the end. But the ‘thank you’ I long to give sounds like some kind of small, drenched animal slinking in from a storm, sniveling.

Growing up, I was so lucky. And granted, I was a child but oh, I didn’t even think to appreciate it. A finely furnished apartment in Minrathous, my mothers protected and encouraged to impart a Dalish upbringing on my brother and I. It couldn’t last, of course. i dont have anything concrete to share bc im still in the throes of outlining. but its a fantasy series that maybe i'll write some day (probably a novel not a comic lol. im already getting my ass kicked with actium) that has to do a lot with angels/gods and the cyclical nature of life and a lot of other stuff. big props to my friend matt who listened to me babble for a few hours on a discord call abt my thoughts and gave me some concrete starting plot points to work around, bc before i had a vibe and a dream

i dont wanna get too in to detail bc its a multi pov thing and all these motherfuckers are incredibly unreliable. like the difference between chap 1 and chap 2 is already pretty vast. but essentially there are patron deities/ guardians/ angels/ ???? of every nation that possess chosen followers in order to give them powers to protect the land and fend of threats of other jealous gods. standard paladin fantasy stuff. well a ceremony goes wrong and the wrong god gets put into the wrong person.

i wrote out like 8 different descriptions but none make sense. what if the gods were all lying to you and you might turn into a clicker from the last of us if you trust the wrong one. idk

i do know the characters are: 1) assassin 2) cool healer monk and 3) literal son of darkness. very fun!
