What do you think did Kakashi mean when he said to Sasuke that you only need a reason to hate someone? I always thought he meant you don't need a reason to love someone but for hating someone, you will need reasons. Which is perfectly shown with Sakura (yet the fandom doesn't get it often) because Kishimoto himself said he doesn't want to show "why" Sakura loves Sasuke.

She just does. And as a result she wants him to be happy, there aren't any selfish reasons of "wanting him to be hers", only initially when she was a literal child. But since the forest of death it was always about Sasuke not suffering anymore.

Now I've seen some people say Kakashi mrant that Sasuke just needed reasons to hate Sakura. So now I'm torn if I just read it wrong all these years or they did? What do you think about that scene?

I agree with you, loving someone doesn't always need a specific reason, because then your love would be conditional, but Sakura's love towards Sasuke was always depicted as unconditional. I discussed this in great depth during this post where I reference multiple characters from other anime/manga who said the same thing as Kakashi - how you don't need a reason to love someone, but you do need a reason to hate someone.

nope! none of that is what i said or meant. i think that if you look only at their gaming channel videos it is easy to see things as a progression.

but i'm not talking just about their gaming videos. i'm also talking about liveshows and their social media presences (including the posts they were liking on twitter, tumblr and instagram)—and about the unique aspects of ii that varied from show to show and the way they were in m&gs.

at the start of the us/canada leg of ii they clearly showed us the tour bus bunks and that they'd be sleeping seperately. (i believe this was on instagram). during the astralia/asia leg of ii they fucking said "the bed" about their accomodations in a liveshow and acted like it was completely normal for them to be sharing a bed—and that WAS a more clear, rapid acceleration of their openness.

it was not a marked shift that was visible to people who only kept up with them on youtube, and it did not only happen once during tour OR once in the year in general. i think that there were shifts in their behavior at a number of points:

when they watched queer eye after the first season dropped in early february of 2018

as they reached the end of the UK leg of ii

after they finished the us/canada leg of ii

and they were very intentional after returning home with planning & implimenting the end of dan and phil games, pinof, & liveshows while working towards the ultimate goal of coming out. they have confirmed they were leaving breadcrumbs and i've talked at length about dab and evan as their proxies within the sims (frog boiling theory)

not a one time thing, not a marked shift, not the gaming channel. but yes there are multiple, detectable points at which their openness rapidly accelerated when taking the entirity of their public presence into account.

oh absolutely final feud, pre return. i've never understood why people thought they were high in that video—to me it always seemed clear that they were horny+ riding the high of the successful end of the north american leg of ii.

i actually think they likely had had a conversation before leaving canada for australia & the next leg of tour about coming out? not their first conversation, but one confirming the plan to come out the next year because they were far enough into tour to be sure it would be well recieved.

and i think they were far enough out from the high effort parts of that plan that they could just be excited about being out soon. like for me there is no other explanation that makes their behavior for the rest of 2018 make sense.

we literally KNOW that gaining a different and more up to date understanding of the phandom by meeting us on tour changed things for them!!! they absolutely were having these discussions on tour!

all this to say the final feud energy is a combination of triumph over their success, excitement for a free future, and insane horniness. one of them literally puts a hand on the other's thigh when asking what they're playing for.

and i think the second horniest pre return video is halloween pumpkin carving though i think we've* specifically framed it as dumb slut energy rather than fuck energy when discussing it in the past. dan's mesh shirt/candy necklace combo was devised to torment phil and i think the liveshow that took place immediately after they FILMED the video was a part of the torment too.

since the return? ABSOLUTELY last year's halloween baking. and i think it beats out the other two by leagues. i fear that costume was rendered completely unwearable on youtube IMMEDIATELY after they stopped filming for the night.
