Az olasz heavy/power metalos Nanowar of Steel-t 2019 decemberében, karácsony előtt ismertem meg, mikor kiadták a Valhalleluja című kislemezdalukat, mint karácsonyi szerzeményt. A dalban közreműködik Thomas Winkler (Angus McSix, ex-Gloryhammer), még Angus McFife-ként, illetve a dal koncepciójához kapcsolódóan, mint Odin. Már ennél az egy dalnál feltűnt, hogy milyen érdekes, ötletes, humoros, szórakoztató, kreatív (és még lehetne sorolni) koncepció köré építették a számot, elsődlegesen szövegileg, de a ruhák, jelmezek, karakterek egytől-egyig szintén rettentő szórakoztatóak. A dal zenei része pedig ugyancsak nagyon jó. Hát ki talál ki és boronálja össze ilyen zseniális módon Odin-t a svéd IKEA céggel és a hozzájuk kapcsolódó rengeteg utalással, kikacsintással…aztán utánanéztem egy-két további daluknak és mindegyiknél hasonlót tapasztaltam, rendkívül egyedi koncepció, dalszövegek és remek zene.

Aztán valahogy mégsem kezdtem el belemélyedni a banda diszkográfiájába, csak az aktuálisan megjelenő kislemezdalokat (Uranus, Armpits of Immortals) hallgattam meg, egészen az idén március 10-én megjelenő legújabb, Dislike to False Metal lemezig. Amikor elkezdték promózni az albumot (ami hivatalosan a banda ötödik nagylemeze és a második a Napalm Records-nál), kijött az első kislemezdal (Winterstorm in the Night) és bejelentésre került a budapesti koncert az európai turné keretében, egyből úgy voltam vele, hogy ezen ott kell lenni. A koncert előtt, és miután gyakorlatilag szarrá hallgattam az új lemezt a megjelenés óta, kicsit elkezdtem visszamenni a diszkográfiában és meghallgattam az előző két lemezüket is (Italian Folk Metal – 2021, Stairway to Valhalla – 2018), amiről szintén elmondható, hogy ugyanolyan ötletes, szórakoztató és humoros, mint a legújabb.

Sok mindent leírtam már a koncertbeszámolóban és érdekes információkat meg lehetett tudni az interjúban, de most is kiemelném, hogy hihetetlen, milyen jó érzékkel nyúl a banda a legkülönfélébb stílusokhoz, műfajokhoz és teszi ezt zseniálisan, gyakorlatilag bármit el tudnak játszani: legyen az metal, rock, swing, disco, pop, rap, reggae, country, folk, vagy akár klasszikus zene, de még tovább is lehetne sorolni. És ezt a Dislike to False Metal lemezen gyakorlatilag számról-számra meg is csinálják, bitang ötletes és szórakoztató módon, fantasztikus zenével és szövegekkel. A tagok közül szinte mindenki tud többféle hangszeren is játszani, ami a vendégzenészekkel együtt meg is mutatkozik a dalokban. Mr. Baffo és Potowotominimak énekesek remekül egészítik ki egymást, amit nagyon jól támaszt alá a háttérvokál Mohammed Abdul-tól, Gatto Panceri 666-tól és Uinona Raider dobostól is. Mohammed nagyon jó szólókat ír és nyom a számokban, a ritmusszekció pedig tökéletesen adja a talpalávalót, legyen szó akár diszkó slágerről, szimfonikus heavy/power metal galoppról vagy éppen darálósabb, szimfonikus black metalról. A produceri, keverési, masterelési munkáknál pedig nem véletlen az olyan jártas nevek feltűnése, mint Marco „Cinghio” Mastrobuono (Hour of Penance, Coffin Birth, Camera Obscura Two, stb.), Christian Ice, Andrea De Bernardi, vagy éppen a banda tagjai közül Mohammed Abdul és Potowotominimak, aki minden eddigi lemez rendkívül érdekes, igényes és szép borítóját, bookletjét tervezte.

Kevésbé szoktam a dalokról egyesével is írni, de most legalább egy-két mondatot mindegyikről írok, mert vannak olyan érdekesek – igaz, a dalszöveg sokszor tartalmaz olyan dolgokat, sorokat, amely nem mindig világos, hogy mire is gondoltak a banda tagjai, de ez szerintem már az interjúból is kiderült. A nyitó Sober egy Alestorm-számnak is tökéletes lenne, Chris Bowes vendégeskedésével még jobb lett volna, amit Gatto-ék is sajnálnak, hogy nem jött össze. Az arany mellett bitcoin valutára “vadászó”, józan kalózokról szóló szám koncepciója „nem teljesen” egyezik meg az eredeti elképzeléssel, de rendkívül ötletes. A Winterstorm in the Night egy szimfonikusabb, férfi-női váltott vokált tartalmazó tétel, ami a korpás fejbőr megelőzésére hívja fel a figyelmet, hasonlóan, mint az album előtt megjelent Armpits of Immortals, mely a fesztiválozó emberek “illatát/szagát” igyekszik előtérbe helyezni (“…our smell will never die!”) – zseniális. Az Eleine gyönyörű énekesnője, Madeleine Liljestam remek választás volt vendégénekesnek. Harmadiknak érkezik a lemez egyik legjobb dala, a Disco Metal, amely a második klipes felvezető nóta volt és gyakorlatilag egy fantasztikus diszkó sláger, kis metalba ültetve. A klip és a dalszöveg az utalásokkal nem kevésbé fenomenális (“Disco Metal, Dancing in the Moonlight, Dancing in the Shadows, Metal in da House!”). A Muscle Memories egy remek gitárszólóval megtámogatott, kicsit country-s nóta a gyúrásról és annak elmúlásáról. Ezután jön a szövegileg egyik legbetegebb szám, a Chupacabra Cadabra, mely egy az egyben a Judas Priest “Painkiller” klasszikusának dobjátékával indít, majd pedig átvált egy spanyolos, folkos számba (ahol előkerül a hagyományos hangszereken túl többféle fúvós és egyéb hangszer is), felváltva angol-spanyol nyelvű, őrült dalszöveggel, amit csak a Nanowar tud írni.

Hatodikként érkezik a lemez szintén egyik legjobb dala, a Joakim Brodén (Sabaton) vendégeskedésével készült zseniális Pasadena 1994, amihez egy igen impresszív klip is készült, a dal témája pedig az 1994-es FIFA labdarúgó világbajnokság döntője, ahol Olaszország a 120 percet követő 0-0-ás döntetlen után 3-2-re kikapott Brazíliától a büntetőpárbajban. Úgy, ahogy van tökéletes szám, téma, megvalósítás, a rengeteg utalással, kikacsintással.

A Metal Boomer Battalion egy rendkívül vicces, szórakoztató dalszöveggel bíró, ugyancsak nagyon fasza nóta, ami az internetes fórumokon, oldalakon egyre inkább elhatalmasodó trollokat, illetve a boomereket figurázza ki (“…Keyboard Warriors of the world!…”, “…We despise and shame every song that came after 1982!…”) – hahaha, zseniális úgy, ahogy van. A következő, Dimmu Boogie-nál egyáltalán nem egy swing-számra számítottam, de ezt is olyan jól megoldja a Nanowar, hogy le a kalappal előttük. Van itt a gitárszóló mellett basszusgitár-, zongora-, trombita- és dobszóló is, nem semmi.

Az utolsó előtti, Protocols (of the Elders of Zion) of Love számot a Backstreet Boys, ’N Sync, Five zenekarok is bármikor megirigyelnék, de van még itt egy kis Céline Dion inspiráció is. És igen, a dal sajnos nem a WCW/WWF/WWE-s pankrációs nWo csapatról szól, hanem a dalszöveg alapján valami egészen másról. Az utolsó, The Power of Imodium pedig egy klasszikus szimfonikus heavy/power metal track (elsődlegesen tiszta Rhapsody), a szöveget is beleértve, csak itt nem a sárkányok, sárkányölők, hősök kerülnek előtérbe, hanem az Imodium hasmenés elleni gyógyszer és annak különböző hatásai, a végén pedig még egy kis klasszikus éneklés, áriázás is befigyel olasz nyelven, ami egyszerűen hidegrázós.

Nem is tudom, mikor hallottam utoljára ennyire szórakoztató, változatos albumot, mint a Nanowar of Steel ezen lemeze. Aki szereti ezt a fajta változatosságot, az semmiképp se hagyja ki ezt a bandát, mert megéri megismerni őket. Mind a lemezeken történő, mind a koncert teljesítményük zseniális, lenyűgöző, ez a nagybetűs szórakoztatás. Még csak április van, de már szinte biztosra veszem, hogy az év végi listám első három helyén fog végezni a lemez.

Venerdì sera, a Novafeltria, le Vestali del Ricordo Confuso hanno celebrato l’Halloween della Strada Vecchia. Per un’ora, gli Spiriti Autentici di via Aurelio Saffi hanno permesso ad una quarantina di pachidermi di sedersi in mezzo alla cristalleria in pavè su delle orrende sedie di plastica bianca, per ascoltare le litanie melense delle vestali.

Perché la Strada Vecchia è una cristalleria ?… perché è tra i luoghi principali della nostra tradizione, è tra le strade più antiche del nostro paese, molti suoi muri sono stati battezzati dal Tempo e la delicatezza di certi particolari ne fa una preziosa teca di storia. Il lungo elenco di fatti, personaggi e vicende urbanistiche, letto a tre voci, mostrava tutta la sua caratura di “pensierino da quinta elementare letto davanti alla maestra”.

Gli unici due acuti della “corazzata fantozziana” sono stati: l’elevazione a Maestro di Sylvester The Cat, oscuro misantropo del secolo scorso (al che mi sono strizzato abbondantemente Ernesto ed Evaristo, sempre con discrezione) e il racconto vegan-animalista della morte dell’eroico toro maremmano, perché nella Strada Vecchia c’era il mattatoio numero uno (Vonnegut a noi ci fa un baffo!). I simpatici intermezzi di un bravo fisarmonicista e l’arrivo di nobili quadrupedi che portavano poveri bipedi al garrese hanno reso più umane le sentenze della Triplice; ma la sacrosanta vendetta del cavallo sull’uomo sono stati i meravigliosi “clopete, clopete” quando ha preso la parola Mr. Kapparellas per la litania finale. Ho aspettato fino alla fine, ma ero sicuro di una cosa che avevo previsto e poi si è avverata, me lo sentivo… ho visto quella luna rugginosa e sono salite quelle parole: “Che fai tu, luna, in ciel? Dimmi, che fai…” avevano parlato di tutti, casa per casa, citato i nomi di tutti (soprannomi compresi), avevano illustrato tutte le attività con dovizia di particolari e aneddoti, avevano “fatto la scarpetta” al piatto dei loro ricordi, di numero civico in numero civico avevano provato a raccontare i volti della Strada Vecchia… però, si, però, si sono dimenticati di lui, del Leopardi delle valvole e dei transistor, si sono dimenticati del mio zio Archimede Venerucci, di cui conservo tutto, dalle viti, scatole e bulloni fino all’ultima carezza. I grandi rancori, al pari dei grandi amori, erano l’ossatura della commedia umana che si svolgeva lungo la Strada Vecchia… ora che sono tutti morti, non è più una strada, è il cimitero dei fazzoletti annodati, dove noi, moderni PierCapponi non “suoneremo le nostre campane”, ma “accenderemo i nostri congelatori”, perché le migliori vendette si servono fredde, mooolto fredde… seduti sull’argine del Marecchia, con le gambe a penzoloni. Ex-Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan gets tourism ambassador appointment

Ex-Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has been named as a tourism ambassador for the country by the government of Ghana over the weekend.

The appointment was announced by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Ibrahim Awal, during the launch of the footballer’s autobiography titled ‘Legyandary’.

“We are conferring on you by the courtesy of the President, a tourism ambassador for this country. For the 2022 World Cup, we want you to be an ambassador,” Mr. Awal said.

“Use your experiences to promote Ghana. Ghana is not only the most beautiful country in Africa, it’s also the most attractive. Our sports legends help make Ghana the most popular brand in Africa. Asamoah Gyan, we start with you to lead the charge and make Ghana a very successful brand.”

He added: “The President launched the Beyond the Return project in 2019 which led to over one million people coming to Ghana. Asamoah Gyan, help us get 2 million people to come to Ghana this year as tourists.”

Gyan successfully launched his memoir titled ‘Legyandary’ on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra which had Stephen Appiah, Abedi Pele, Anthony Baffoe, and Emmanuel Adebayor, and El Hadji Diouf all in attendance.

Some astute politicians were also present, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, E.T. Mensah, Kennedy Agyapong, and Mahama Ayariga.

Businessman Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong bought the first copy of the book for a whopping GHc100,000, with the MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong also picking the second copy for the same amount.

Freedom Jabon Cesar and GFA President Kurt Okraku also splashed GHc50,000 to acquire a copy of the book at the event.
