You found him reading by the sunrise, sitting on the windowsill with one of his father’s old cases on his lap. The binder was thick and worn. Whatever Asirel had fixed his gaze on must have entranced him greatly because he did not look up when you approached, your footsteps nearly soundless on the carpeted floor of his study.

He looked tired. You wondered if he had caught a wink of sleep at all after you had excused yourself to one of the guest bedrooms, lying down for the rest of the night in a daze. Vampires. Werewolves. Vic’s sharp gasp and Rhoades’ frantic shuffling. 

It seemed that he had stayed in the study, unable to calm his racing thoughts as he no doubt stared into the darkness until the morning rays filtered through the room, casting it in a golden hue. It made him reach into the shelf where his father had kept his documents, pulling out a binder — a collection of information that organizations would kill for — and busying himself with reading up on his father’s successes until the heavy feeling in his chest subsided, giving way to the numb hollowness he had gotten so used to recently.

The apathy somehow felt worse than the drowning sorrow. 

He would have preferred to crumple the pages, let them drop to the floor, and sob his heart out while he screamed in rage at this injustice, at these feelings eating him up from the inside while he gasped for breaths that could not pass the constriction of his chest. 

But with this emptiness instead, at least he got things done. It was easier to go through the motions, mirroring the life signs in an act that could fool those who were not close to him — but who was, nowadays?

An impatient knock came from the door. It was a series of three taps he recognized as Morley’s, but when he raised his head to look up, he found you standing in the middle of the room, looking at him with such concern that it stole his breath. He did not dare to speak.

“Come in,” you called instinctively, forgetting for a moment that it was not your study to bid entry to. 

Asirel looked lost, and you could not tear your gaze away from his searching one — roaming over your face as if you held all the answers he had sought through the night, as if you were the dagger cutting through his isolation and numbness, tethering him to the present. 

Who was close to him nowadays? You were. He was separated irrevocably from everybody else, by his position and by his knowledge. 

His emotions were candid in his eyes. 

Morley did not seem to care that it was not Asirel who had answered. She pushed the door open wide, walking in to stand next to the desk. “There is someone who wishes to see you,” she said, facing you. Her hair was pulled back in a loose bun, a few strands framing her face. Her eyes were sharp, looking at you intently from behind her glasses before they darted to Asirel, taking in his disheveled appearance.

He cleared his throat, averting his gaze to hide the vulnerability in his eyes as he ran a hand through his hair to smooth out the wayward strands. 

Her gaze did not linger, instead settling on the desk beside her, and the papers thrown around on it haphazardly. She frowned, taking in the mess. “A Mr. Kingston, if I heard correctly,” she said, keeping her focus on the pages. 

“Julian,” you said, lips twisting into a fond smile as you nodded at her. Morley did not notice it, engrossed in the papers she found on Asirel’s desk. “Yes, send him up, please.”

“Certainly,” she said, her voice light as if she were not present in the moment. She did not look up, hesitatingly peeling herself away from the papers to walk out in a slight daze. 

Julian came in an instant later, his brown hair neatly parted and the dark circles under his eyes partly hidden by the rim of his glasses. He gave you a tired smile in greeting before his eyes fixed on Asirel. “Pardon the intrusion,” he said, inclining his head towards him respectfully.

Asirel waved a hand in nonchalance, leaning back against the window to watch as your secretary turned to you again, evidently needing to convey something important.

“I presume you want to read this paper. It goes into print this evening,” he said, holding out a folder towards you. It contained the texts for the soon-to-be articles of morning news.  

You opened it, reading only the headline. Of course, it was Stockton again.

CRISIS IN TECH-COMPANY CAUSES HOTEL-CHAIN TO TOPLE.

“Thank you, Julian,” you said, snapping it shut again. You had bigger things to worry about at the moment. Vampires. Werewolves. “Is that all?” your tone was gentle, exhaustion creeping into your voice. 

He bit his lip, his gaze quickly flickering to Asirel before he wound up the courage to speak again, retrieving a light blue envelope from the inner pocket of his suit jacket. “The hospital file has arrived,” he said, voice nearly a whisper. 

Asirel frowned, having caught the words despite Julian’s light tone. He sat up in alarm. “Hospital?” he asked, curiosity mixing with dark foreboding. “What file? Which case is this?” 

You took the envelope with a heavy heart, choosing to look at Julian’s blue and white striped tie instead of turning to face your partner. “Yes, nothing to concern you with,” you said, as you felt the paper in your hand, containing the autopsy you had ordered to be made after his father’s death. “I got my blood levels checked, that is all.”

Julian was looking at you intently, his poker face impeccable as he listened to you lie through your teeth. Asirel was none the wiser, relaxing against the window again with a soft humm, his anxiety abated. 

It was better that he did not know, you told yourself. It was easier for him. It was better for you to keep this secret a while longer at least. You would tell him eventually. 

Just not yet. 

You opened the envelope carefully, the need to know if your assumption had been correct — if his father was murdered — burning through you like liquid silver. It made your heart hammer in your chest. Your fingers trembled as you unfolded the pages. Your eyes scanned the writing methodically until they settled on the cause of death. 

Your vision swam. Arsenic poisoning. 

Kennedy had poisoned him. Kennedy had murdered him.

“Are your blood levels alright, then?” you heard Asirel ask, his voice sounding so distant that you had difficulty making out the words. Julian looked at you worriedly, his hands raised unsuspiciously to steady you if you should keel over. 

Your father was murdered. 

“They’re fine,” you said instead, folding the paper and tucking it away. 

He did not need to know yet. Not yet. There was enough to worry about already. 

“When is the meeting today?” you asked Julian, stalling to give yourself a few more moments to calm down.

“The inner circle is set to gather at ten in the morning,” he said, not needing to consult his calendar to tell you what you already knew. “If I may be so forward, I would recommend you read the art—”

He was cut off by your phone ringing. You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath before picking up. Mr. Rhoades’ sharp tone filtered through the line. “I found something else,” he said. 

“A minute,” you replied, giving Julian an apologetic look. He understood, retreating with one last concerned glance towards you as he pointed to the file in your hands. You nodded, mouthing the word ‘promise’ as he shut the door, writing a mental note to skim through the article before the meeting.

Asirel had long since shut his binder to give Mr. Rhoades his undivided attention. You put him on speaker. “Go on, we’re alone,” Asirel said.

“The Trimedian,” he began. “They don’t work together with mythics, they try to eradicate them. They hunt and sell them to the right circles. It’s a trafficking system. Samuel Kennedy seems to be a cornerstone for them, as a judge no doubt well enough connected to know who could be a potential buyer.”

“Hunt them?” you asked, tasting acid on your tongue as you thought about cellars filled with these mythics — creatures, yes. Beings you did not understand but who were certainly more deserving than being under a frail human’s cruel hands. “They capture and sell them?”

“Yes,” Mr. Rhoades said, his tone carefully blank. “The unruly ones get used in experiments. Scientists try to find out what poison works best to inhibit them, how they react to different stimuli, how to incapacitate them, and so on. It’s vile.”

“They torture them,” Asirel noted quietly, raising a clenched fist to press the back of his hand against his mouth. He closed his eyes, concentrating on his breathing. 

“For how long?” you asked, bewildered that there was a society — much like the Collective that should, by all rights, be informed about such a thing — working in the shadows this entire time with such dripping cruelty. It made your stomach twist. 

Rhoades did not answer. You waited tensely, anticipating the sound of swirling liquid in a tumbler. Instead, there was the rustling of papers before he sighed deeply. “Their roots go back to the fifteenth century,” he said. “They must have split and reorganized a few times since then.”

You needed to bring this up to the Collective — both the mythics and the Trimedian. You needed to work out a plan to take them down. With Samuel Kennedy in the general assembly, the organ was practically useless until the inner circle agreed with you to evict him. 

The Trimedian were shrouded in too much secrecy. It was too early to antagonize them. You could not risk revealing your hand to Kennedy, it would mean telling the organization you knew. You could not tell how far their web of influence stretched when they had already infiltrated the Collective. 

“God,” you gasped, massaging your temples. “How did this happen?”

“I’m not sure,” he said. “It started as a group to eliminate mythics, but if my sources are correct, there are mythics who are part of it as well. Perhaps we are dealing with two separate organizations that go by the same name. They— it is hard to get a clear picture.”

“Follow every lead you have,” you said gravely.

“I’ll call when I know more.”

You cut the line without as much as a goodbye, your head spinning from the revelations the morning light had gifted you. The familiar haze of uncertainty returned, and you glanced at Asirel. The apprehension in his eyes reflected your own. You ran a hand over your face, pulling yourself together as you heaved a deep sigh. 

Vampires. Werewolves. And they were being hunted and sold. 

And you did not know about it. 

Arsenic poisoning. Murder!

And you did not know about it.

You shook your head, leaning against the desk heavily as you stared at the papers to distract yourself from the spinning of the world around you. 

The black ink swam in your vision, the crashing history of Incessant Inc. smearing together until it was a jumbled mass. The ties with Stockton dark red before your eyes, cutting through your mind like a trail of blood on white marble. Vampires. Werewolves. The name Samuel Kennedy twice circled and three times underlined. 

“Imagine what it would be like to have such a creature by your side,” you found yourself saying. The words felt foreign on your tongue, unaware of what part of your brain had pushed them past your lips. 

You were musing on the impossible — improbable. They were sold, after all. And you had the means to procure a deadly vampire pet for yourself if you could align the idea with your morality — while understanding dawned as to why people would care to possess these creatures. They were weapons, the perfect defense. 

Mr. Cain perhaps would not have died, if there was a vampire at his beck and call, sniffing out the arsenic that Kennedy had slipped into his coffee and tearing out the throat of the traitor instead. 

“You’d never have to be afraid again,” you said numbly, hands curling into fists as you thought about the murder, a burning need for revenge coursing through you. “It would make you untouchable.” 

Asirel hummed, slowly opening his eyes against the nausea churning in his stomach. “What a thought,” he muttered, filing it away for later.

Now for some additional information about this blog and my goals with it.

Yes this is a Sleep Token themed blog, but I listen to a very wide range of music, like almost all genres. The only songs I don’t like are ones that are objectively bad.

I am currently working on my debut novel, and I just started my very first fanfiction, In The Low Light. I like space and science, spirituality and history of different religions, as well as history in general, and psychology. Just a general rule of thumb, I’m a fucking nerd. There’s a lot going on up here in this brain mush of mine.

As for stuff about Sleep Token, their identities will not be discussed here. If you send me anything with their information, I will delete it and block you. I do know their information, unfortunately, because I was jump scared in the comments of a TikTok and now it’s burned into my brain. I will not post about it. Ever.

I found Sleep Token through The Summoning in January 2023 when it went viral. Almost instantly, they became my favourite band of all time.

As for my plans for this page, I will continue to complete the mask portraits for Sleep Token, in the order shown below. Other than that, my goal is to keep this page as free from political subject matter as possible. I want this page to be an escape for everyone, myself included. I will try my best to keep it light hearted and fun.

Each painting will include their mask in the centre, surrounded by flowers/plants that I have selected based on their symbology. With each painting, I will be counting the total number of hours spent on each one and will go in instalments until each is completed.

I may in the future do portraits of other artists, though at the moment the only ones I have solid plans for are Sleep Token. There are other art ideas that are related to ST, but are essentially (free) commissions for friends. If there is enough demand/interest, I may in the future sell digital prints of my art, however this is dependent on your interest levels.

I do not consent to the sharing, reposting or plagiarism of any of my original works on any outside platforms or social media. If you see my works tell me so I can look into it.

All in all, I am excited to be working on this project and to make friends with all of you lovely people.

As long as we keep the focus on the love of the music, and respecting the boys and each other, I know that this will only become a beautiful thing.

And he thinks Daniel is his best bet on getting the intel.

"You're not the first to attempt this, Mr. Molloy. I could give you the names of four others who have and they're all dead. Or undead." Yeah, that tends to happen when you lot tangle with the vampires xD

Still very much "Sure, Jan" about Armand's story about how he met Lestat. I mean, he's clearly telling it with the agenda of making himself look better, understandable. But also he's making Nicki out to be some little fling Lestat didn't care about and he hates Gabrielle so much he's not even mentioning her. Sure, Jan xD

But dang every one is acting their hearts out and they're all so fabulously good at it.

You know the one thing really in character for Lestat in Armand's story? Dragging around a whole ass crucifix to make a point xD

Armand's definition of unharmed is as bad as Rashid's definition of peaceful LOL

Still so amusing how Lestat's hair in Armand's story is always on point and how it's mostly terrible when Louis hallucinates him xD

I'm guessing these be their laws in Latin, my Latin is rusty and I never was much good at it but

I still think the whole sexual assault thing with Claudia is unnecessary. Bad choice to do that, imho.
