Let's try something more effective:
Doctor, we have not shown you or anyone in this town hostility since manifesting here with Invader beyond the training accident with Lune. If anything, we outright CURED one of your patients who was in critical condition.
For viruses doing Hades' work we must be pretty dang inefficient then, right? Or maybe it's because we really, REALLY don't want to have to fight or kill anyone if we don't have to!

"Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up! Can you never be quiet, even for a moment!?"
The more talking that occurred, the less focused ASCLEPIUS became. The mana around him grew more chaotic and less dense, his own presence weakening as he grabbed his head, his own yells being interspersed with agonized gasps. It seems like you've managed to stall him for a moment, meaning that he wasn't currently attacking.
Tumblr media
KUKULKAN sighed, shaking her head.
"For the Trigger Key to be fully accessed, his Spirit Origin needs to be destroyed. If he were to 'give' you the key, then that means he'd be giving up his life. The Trigger Keys aren't items that can be easily passed back and forth, they're entrusted to the Lair Servants to protect with their very lives. Even the peaceful solution is that you remain safe, and he dies. I don't know how many times I need to tell you that coexisting isn't possible…"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a bit of a frown, KUKULKAN's eyes narrowed.
Tumblr media
"It'd be like putting the key in 'reserve'… he'd still have to destroy himself at some point for it to be usable, and that doesn't mean that he'd immediately become friends… even without the Solar Cell's influence, he acted in his own interests- but that didn't exactly mean he was fond of you all personally. You'd be stripping him of his authority and purpose, only to command him to die later."
As this was explained, CONSTANTINE furrowed his brow in thought.
Tumblr media
"That doesn't stop it from being an option, however. It'd serve as a way to pacify him temporarily, though you'd need to use a Command Spell or two to keep him from betrayal."
She clenched her fist, mana pooling inside it.
Tumblr media
"He's in a vulnerable spot. He's conflicted, meaning that his focus on defense is completely down. One well-timed strike, and I can perform a Spirit Core Liberation. That'll have some of his essence available for T-Summoning, allow us to grab the Trigger Key, and it'll be the quickest act of mercy we can manage."
You'll need to make a choice. You got him to stop, so now...

WIP Wednesday: Between Heaven & Earth, Chapter One
A rough cut of a scene where Eren and Annie interact + worldbuilding
1912
The office was flooded with applications to the Garrison, since it was easier to get into than the Military Police and had the second-lowest mortality rate out of all three branches. It sounded nice, coming from the mouths of recruiters, but even the lowest ranking position in the Garrison was safer than the Scouting Legion. An overabundance of spending on resources with little to show for it but a seventy-five percent mortality rate.
The majority of the Trainee Corps budget went towards ODM equipment, food and space for the cadets as well as horses. Training accidents were infrequent but inevitable. Just like the Warrior Unit, everything else fell by the wayside to make space for more important matters.
When it came to combat, the instructors were teaching fundamentals out of principle. Unarmed combat might buy you a few seconds in a real-life situation. Any criminal could drive the sharp end of a whisky bottle into the newly-made private’s stomach and that would be that. Soldiers were usually more acquainted with ODM gear than a rifle outside of the MPs, who rarely had cause to use them. Why bother teaching this at all, if it wouldn't be utilized? Marley never taught the cadets a skill they wouldn't have to use, especially in the Warrior Unit. Everything they learnt would be reincorporated into their term.
“Hey, Leonhardt!” Braun on Paradis, in Marley, never changed. She stopped pace. “You can’t keep slacking off like this.”
Sucking up to the first cadet who asks for help is not going to make you into a better Warrior than I am. This exercise isn’t for points. You shouldn’t be drawing attention to me in the first place, you hypocrite.
She caught Jaeger’s eye.
Here’s a lesson on what not to do.
Braun, shoving Jaeger in her line of sight, said, "Looks like you have a new teacher," and caught her eye with a look that screamed better you than me.
Just her luck.
Scowling, she made eye-contact with Jaeger and threw him the knife. “Your turn.”
Jaeger caught the knife. In the time it took for him to open his mouth and say, “What?” she’d already closed the distance. Disarmed and grounded. Easier than a dummy.
Jaeger’s mouth split into a toothy grin. "That was amazing!" Clambering to his feet, dusting himself off, he said, "Where'd you learn to fight like that?"
"My father." She did not add it was a pretty basic technique. “It doesn’t matter. It’s not what you’re supposed to be learning anyway.”
He stared at her, eyes shining with fervor. “Let me try again. Disarm me.”
She stared back.
The only time she got to scrap without holding back was with Braun or Porco Galliard. In Marley the instructors were pushing a bayonet into her hands. In Paradis, a wooden knife. Turned onto the front-lines, the Warrior cadets fought to kill, not disarm. She shouldn’t be going easy on the enemy.
The third time Jaeger wound up on his ass, she offered a hand. “You almost had it.”
“Really?” Jaeger reached out to take it; she withdrew and caught him in the stomach with her boot. He got back to his feet, staggering, a tic in his jaw. “What the hell—was that for?”
“You left yourself open.” Resuming stance, unfazed. “I bet you’ve never won a fight in your life.”
A few cadets stopped to watch. Each time she flipped Jaeger over there were cheers. Nothing like back home, in Marley it was always perfunctory.
(Even though Eren is outmatched on a technical level, he innately gets that he has to disable her legs. Perhaps he fights dirty for a similar reason as Annie does; mirroring his point to Reiner in canon about how practice with a fellow soldier doesn't prepare the soldier for a real life situation)
("Don't have any honor?"
Jaeger grunted. "Fairness doesn't mean much in a real fight."
"That's smart, coming from you."
He huffed. "It's realistic." )
Shadis barked at them to disperse.
Jaeger spat into the dirt and said, “I can’t keep up with you.”
“You’re right.” She walked in the direction of the mess hall. Jaeger followed at her heels.
“You could teach me,” he said, “how to fight.”
“Why should I?”
“’Cos I want to learn.” He made a face like she was being obtuse on purpose. “I’ve been in a lot of fights, and I’ve never seen anyone move like that.”
Persistent. Good for target practice, if nothing else.
“Hm,” said Annie. “You’re not going to cry when you lose?”
“I won’t if you won’t,” he said, the light coming back into his eyes. He bumped her shoulder with his. “Next time, we’re partners. Don’t forget!”

I decided that the hood people of tumblr can have new chapters a day early. Yes there will be grammatical errors but where’s the fun in perfection. Anyway here’s who is that kid? Ch2
Tumblr marked this as mature so like, heads up, torture!
The silence is deafening. His ears are ringing, high and just loud enough to hear. His face was throbbing.
There was some beeping and hissing sounds. And then it all hit him at once. Hr gagged violently, there was something down his throat. He was dying, suffocating on something, then all at once he gagged, reched, and threw up. He looked down at his lap and saw a tube. He was in a hospital, and he just threw up his breathing tube.
Alarms were blaring as he tried to figure out where he was. Suddenly the door burst open, there was shouting in some Slavic language. MP’s burst through the door, nurses hot on their heels. A burst of light and then laughter is what followed, someone had just taken a picture.
“They will love this one.” A gravely and angry sounding Russian voice spit out. Makarov.
He was shaking a Polaroid photo. “Ah, we will leave this on in Vietnam. You will love it there. Truly, just forgetting your worries.”
“I’m nae goin’ to Vietnam.” Soap slurred he was heavily sedated and couldn’t really speak. He tried to lift his arm but he found it strapped down with handcuffs to the side of the bed.
“We’re wheels up at 1400, prepare him.” Those were the final words from Makarov before the Konnie MP was drugging him and soap was back asleep.
——————
It was an interesting situation that lead to Johnnys capture. The bullet had never hit the brain, only just entering the skull and exiting. He was called KIA on scene due to many reasons. One, he was in shock and his heart rate was so low that it was difficult to detect without gloves. Number 2 is the fact that, Ghost wears thick gloves on the field, making checking his pulse difficult. And number 3 is that, simply he was shot in the temple, there is a low chance of coming back from that.
How there was a confirmed body though, that is an interesting story. Makarov had found a Konnie that was 5’11, had brown hair and blue eyes and shot him in the head. The soldier had a mohawk shaved into his hair and soaps uniform as well as, somehow, similar facial scarring.
Soap of course, did not know this and thought he had been left behind. So instead of fighting against the ruthless beatings he received, he disassociated. Makarov came in, told him commands that were engraved in his mind from basic, had someone beat him, and then left. He was not there, locked box slowly forming around Johnnys psyche.
——————
It was becoming clearer by the day that he was being trained to fight for Makarov. Do his bidding. He was slowly being separated from the man he was. Johnny gone, hidden so deep in his mind that even the best surgeons couldn’t find him. Soap was slipping away as well. He was fading.
Soap had spent time in a dissociative state before. It was right after his mothers death at 17, and the subsequent beatings that followed by his father. Somehow his fault that his only protection had gotten cancer. He doesn’t remember graduating high school, he doesn’t remember walking into the recruiting office. His first memory after the funeral was handing the sheet to the lady, and pocketing the pen by accident.
This time somehow felt different, like it was in reverse. Like he knows what’s going on, but is forgetting what he had.
——————
Today was different, a new man came in. He was to be referred to only as sir.
He had sat soap down in a metal chair, put electrodes and wires in his body, and secured him tightly to the chair. A light turned on above him and then sir came into his view. A needle, iv tubing and a bag, and a rubber tongue guard were presented.
The guard was forced into his mouth. And the man, no sir, pulled the needle into view.
There are a few things that will send soap into a panic, no matter what state he’s in, and one of those is the thought of having drugs pumped into his system without his say. So this threat of an iv drug infusion was definitely jarring to say the least.
As his hand is forced palm down, he screams and thrashes.
“Hold his arm still, no sedatives. They’ll mess up the treatment” Sir had said. 4 guards, Konnies, MPs, whatever’s, held him down, hard, as the needle was forced into his hand.
A scream that Johnny had not heard since he was a young child erupted in the room. He was screaming so they’d back off. He just got punched in the face instead.
His world spun but he never fully lost consciousness, a concussion, great. When he fully found himself and could process what was going on, he felt a needle in his hand and electrodes on his head.
——————
The iv given to one John Mactavish was not fluid or anything truly medical, by means of ethics of course. It was a drug that severely hinders memory. It was like dementia without the possibility of death. He wouldn’t know where, who, or what, was going on.
Makarov and his friends in the drug processing ring had affectionately called it: reset.
John Mactavish will formally be declared deceased without body, the paperwork is filing through now.
They have their newest weapon, and he will not miss.
——————
He woke up screaming. The noise echoed through the room and hit him again. It had to if been weeks in this room. Two weeks since the first infusion. White walls, clothes, food, everything was white, but there was no light. His hands were in gloves and feet in little boots so he couldn’t harm himself. Sensory deprivation was their parting gift for John MacTavish, his final kick in the ass.
Apollo-001, or a-1, as his freshest burn says.
This may be the end of him, really, he wished ghost was here. They weren’t coming. Makarov had personally showed him his KIA mark and dead body.
John Mactavish KIA,
New possible biological weapon.
Bit short but chapter 1 is on Ao3

NHS protest & survive strategies for reluctant activists (England). I am angry and writing stuff down.
●Write to your MP (tory) saying a polite version of "stop being stealthy little shits we see what your doing & we've already paid in our taxes" , if (labour) write a polite version of "speak up against the degrading of what we've already paid for in committee stages and in H of L". Do write not email, do visit constituency offices briefly & politely saying that the nhs service to help (pick a category) is worse in your personal experience . This raises stats and the issue of expenditure at the MPs office, giving the MP the feeling of their (publicly available) voting record will have effects on their reelection prospects and makes them nervous about just supporting businesses in the area who are incoming splinters off the nhs area funding * because you see and notice what your MP is actually effectively doing on this issue*. ● Support strikes by combatting the idea that strike removal laws have any place in modern societies in conversation to combat the facebook bilge, and question the idea that three twelve hour shifts a week makes efficient use of trained staff. Question the removal of training bursaries. ●Most important of all combat conversations that say strikers are just after money. Its the work conditions they want improving. ● American style health insurance doesnt cover most stuff because what they call "pre existing' is what the rest of the world calls medical history. European style health insurance says we charge you a trivial data entry fee like two coffee price AFTER treating you zero payment by the way have you cut smoking down and what is your employer doing to reduce workplace hazards.... ● Place blame on Westminster govt political ideology choices by saying in conversation reply like "public money straight into private companies thats a bit (pick slur appropriate to the group youre in) OI THATS MY MONEY "= theyll think about their own money...
●● Register to vote, group with like-minded ppl for emotional support (protesting is by definition going against a larger group) speak when safe and be charming when you announce that you have observed their behaviour. The illusion that you are their sort of people who see and dislike their specific choices makes their ego worried and that is the best way to get these bullies to change. Know your enemy by name and get local facebook groups to be polite persistant and public community representative = "we see you've done x and are talking about x+1 and we think this is already harmful " is more effective than "help (underfunded group)". Cut off funding cuts as the excuse, youre involved in tweaking and directing funding which makes them immediately say nothing about who deserves or not deserve. ● if your group encounter fascists in charge by accident withdraw and regroup for a wider block counter. Be the better person at a distance to stay safe and protest again. Dont go it alone, act as a group.
■Take photo ID along to vote. Yes this is England, but watch out for this change. It is worth voting. Dont wait for the next big election. The NHS is in trouble right now.

The Dawn of the Iron Road: Liverpool and Manchester Railway's Grand Opening
On September 15, 1830, a groundbreaking chapter in transportation history was written with the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway (L&M). Imagine a world where the heartbeat of industry and the pulse of progress were united for the first time in a steam-powered symphony, connecting the textile powerhouse of Manchester to the bustling port of Liverpool, 35 miles away. This wasn’t just a railway; it was a leap into the future.
Tumblr media
The L&M wasn't just any railway. While horse-drawn railways and early steam engines existed, this was the first locomotive-hauled line linking two major cities and offering scheduled passenger services. On that day, the entire nation watched in awe as the first trains set off, marking the dawn of an era where railways would become the lifeblood of industry and travel.
Tumblr media
A Grand Event Turns Tragic
The opening ceremony was a spectacle of grandeur. Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, who was the Prime Minister at the time, rode one of the eight inaugural trains, joined by numerous dignitaries. The event was so momentous that huge crowds thronged the tracks in Liverpool, eagerly awaiting the departure of these historic trains.
However, as the trains journeyed from Liverpool, the excitement took a somber turn. About 13 miles out, one of the trains derailed, causing a collision with the train following it. Luckily, there were no injuries or significant damage. The journey continued, albeit with growing tension.
Tumblr media
At Parkside railway station, a scheduled water stop became the scene of an unfortunate accident. Among the dignitaries who alighted was William Huskisson, a former cabinet minister and MP for Liverpool. Huskisson, having a complicated history with Wellington, attempted to reconcile with him but tragically fell onto the tracks in the path of the approaching locomotive, Rocket. Despite his efforts to escape, he was struck and suffered severe injuries, passing away later that night.
A Day of Triumph and Tumult
The accident cast a shadow over the day, and Wellington considered canceling the remainder of the journey. Yet, the excitement and anticipation in Manchester were too great. With a large crowd waiting, and growing increasingly restless, the decision was made to press on.
Tumblr media
As the trains neared Manchester, the scene grew chaotic. The crowd, inflamed by the day’s events, surged onto the tracks, forcing the trains to push through slowly, using their momentum to clear the way. Upon arrival at Liverpool Road station in Manchester, the atmosphere was charged with hostility. Wellington and his party faced a barrage of vegetables and angry protests. The Duke, reluctant to disembark, ordered the trains to return to Liverpool.
Mechanical failures compounded the day's troubles. With most locomotives rendered unusable, only three of the seven trains were operational. These engines painstakingly pulled a single long train of 24 carriages back to Liverpool, arriving six and a half hours late and greeted by more rowdy crowds.
A Historic Legacy
The tragic death of William Huskisson and the dramatic events of the day turned the opening of the L&M into an international sensation. The world watched as the first long-distance steam railway opened, heralding a new age of mechanized transport. The L&M quickly proved its worth, sparking a wave of railway construction that would reshape Britain and beyond. Within ten years, 1,775 miles of railways spread across the country, and within twenty years, over 6,200 miles.
The Liverpool and Manchester Railway's opening isn't just a footnote in history; it’s the starting line of the mechanized era. As Peter Parker, former chairman of British Rail, put it, "The world is a branch line of the pioneering Liverpool–Manchester run."
Background
Founded on May 24, 1823, by Liverpool merchants Joseph Sandars and Henry Booth, the L&M aimed to link Manchester’s textile mills with Liverpool's deep water port. The railway faced numerous challenges and high costs, but its impact was profound. While horse-drawn railways and early steam engines existed, the L&M was the first to offer a regular passenger service between major cities and was an expensive and ambitious project.
In 1826, George Stephenson designed the 35-mile route, incorporating innovative features to optimize the line's efficiency. The Rainhill Trials of 1829, a public event to select the best locomotive, saw Stephenson’s Rocket emerge victorious, marking the beginning of its era.
Fanny Kemble, an actress and anti-slavery campaigner, vividly described the steam engine’s trial runs, likening the locomotive to a “fire horse” and marveling at its smooth, swift motion. The anticipation and enthusiasm for the railway were palpable, promising a transformative leap into a new era of transport.
So, let’s remember the Liverpool and Manchester Railway not just for its historical significance but for its role in reshaping how we connect and move. The story of its opening is a testament to human ingenuity, resilience, and the relentless drive to push boundaries.

Greek MPs voted on Thursday by 159 to 141 to reject the motion of censure against the New Democracy-led government over newspaper allegations that the February 2023 Tempi train crash, which left 57 people dead, was not caused by human error as officials have claimed.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed the outcome and called the motion of censure cynical and immoral, describing it as political exploitation of the pain of those who lost people in the crash, which happened when a passenger train and a freight train collided near the village of Tempi.
“I assume the responsibility, in memory of all those who were lost, to tell the truth as I at least understand it and to be judged for what I will say,” Mitsotakis told parliament.
However, in a blow to the government, minister of state Stavros Papastavrou and the deputy minister to the prime minister, Ioannis Bratakos, resigned due to their personal “relationship” with businessman Vaggelis Marinakis, the publisher of To Vima newspaper, which printed the allegations.
Greek media reported that the men visited Marinakis’ house for his name day celebration.
The report published by To Vima cited documents from the Greek Police’s Forensic Laboratories allegedly stating that the order given by the stationmaster in the city of Larissa for the train to depart on the wrong track actually referred to another train that wasn’t involved in the fatal crash.
The stationmaster has admitted making an error, Greek media have reported. However, the stationmaster said that he did not recognise his voice on leaked, edited recordings of the alleged departure. He described the recordings as inaccurate.
On Thursday, Avgi, the media outlet of the Greek left-wing SYRIZA party, published eight photographs that it said prove that the scene of the fatal train accident was tampered with, causing the destruction of evidence.
Last week, Vasilis Kokotsakis, an expert hired by some of the families’ victims, filed a report about the crash to the special investigator in Larissa. Kokotsakis told SYRIZA’s radio station Kokkino 105.5 that the freight train was first derailed and then collided with the passenger train.
He said that the freight train, which was coming from North Macedonia, was carrying xylene or xylol, a dangerous chemical substance, which caused the explosion, resulting in the incineration of 28 of the passengers.
Thursday’s censure motion was filed by the centre-left PASOK party and co-signed by the left-wing SYRIZA, the New Left and Pleussi Eleftherias.
New Democracy MPs and the independent MP Haris Katsivardas, a former member of the far-right Spartans party and lawyer for Ilias Kasidiaris, a jailed former leading member of the banned fascist Golden Dawn party, voted against the motion.

Krishnayan Gauraksha: A Beacon of Compassion and Sustainability
Tumblr media
Nestled in the serene landscape of Haridwar, the Krishnayan Gauraksha organization stands as a testament to compassion, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation. This multifaceted initiative, born out of a deep reverence for indigenous cows (gauvansh), has expanded its reach far beyond mere animal protection. Let's explore the diverse activities that define Krishnayan Gauraksha and its impact on both the local community and the environment.
Cow Protection and Shelter At the heart of Krishnayan Gauraksha's mission is the protection of over 18,000 stray and destitute Desi Indian cows and bulls. These animals, often rescued from accidents or dire situations, find a safe haven in the sprawling Gaurakshashalas. Equipped with extensive medical facilities, these shelters ensure that each animal receives the care and attention it deserves, symbolizing a happy second chance at life.
Nourishment and Sustainable Practices The organization's commitment to sustainability is evident in its approach to nourishment and farming. A staggering 90 lakh kg of dry fodder is stored annually, reflecting a strategic approach to resource management. The cows are fed a nutritious mix of fodder, grains, and other natural ingredients twice a day, ensuring their well-being.
Renewable Energy and Organic Farming Krishnayan Gauraksha is a pioneer in renewable energy utilization. The gaushala is powered by a bio-gas generator and a 200 KVA solar power genset, minimizing its carbon footprint. This sustainable model extends to organic farming practices taught to local farmers, promoting chemical-free food and ecological balance.
Bio CNG and Organic Fertilizer Production In an innovative stride, the organization converts 25,000 kg of cow dung daily into CNG gas and manure at its BIO CNG plant. This not only provides a sustainable energy source but also produces organic fertilizer, enhancing soil health and supporting organic farming initiatives.
Vocational Training and Community Support Krishnayan Gauraksha actively engages in community upliftment through various vocational training programs. These include manufacturing organic products and promoting organic farming techniques, thereby empowering local farmers and artisans.
Disaster Relief and Food Distribution The organization's compassion extends to humans in need. During calamities like the MP and Uttrakhand floods, Krishnayan Gauraksha provided essential relief, including food and shelter. Its efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, with extensive food distribution campaigns, highlighted its role as a pillar of support in challenging times.
Cultural Preservation The Krishnayan Gauraksha is not just about practical support; it also plays a significant role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. The Yagya Mandap on the banks of the Ganga is a center for spiritual activities, where Vedic rituals and cultural events are regularly conducted, fostering a sense of community and spiritual wellbeing.
Medical Assistance Complementing its array of services is the D S Global Heart Care hospital, providing affordable, if not free, medical care to the needy in Uttarakhand. This facility underscores the organization's commitment to holistic welfare, caring for both animals and humans alike.
Krishnayan Gauraksha stands as a shining example of how reverence for nature and traditional values can harmoniously blend with modern sustainability practices and social welfare. It's a beacon of hope, not just for the animals it shelters but also for the community it nurtures and the environment it zealously protects. This remarkable endeavor in Haridwar is a model of compassionate living and environmental consciousness that resonates well beyond the borders of India.

Ilta-Sanomat carries comments from a senior diplomat criticising the planning of a reorganisation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Juha Parikka, currently the Deputy Head of Mission at Finland's embassy in Jakarta, says that Finland's diplomatic corps have been given six working days to respond to a broad survey asking fairly detailed questions about priorities, resource allocation and tasks in the ministry.
The goal, in line with the government programme, is to identify which tasks and roles are strategically significant for Finland — especially after it has joined the Nato military alliance.
The work itself is necessary, Parikka says, as the ministry remains in much the same form as it was after the last reorganisation in 1998. But he tells IS he is uncomfortable about the way it is being planned.
Parikka says that the working committee tasked with making these proposals has no external representation, and therefore conflicts of interest might be possible. In addition, there is no representation within the committee from unions or staff associations.
"They are just heard," said Parikka. "And then there is a webropol (survey) which is a way for everything to go missing. You'll get 400-500 individual viewpoints, of which none will be actually taken notice of in any way."
The state secretary in charge of the reform, Lauri Tierala, told IS that the people on the committee have no axes to grind in defending their own departments. In addition, the committee cannot make decisions — it only recommends different courses of action.
The timetable is relatively rapid because of the government programme. Any proposals with implications for resources should be made by January, in time to be considered in the spring budget framework talks.
Double handshaker scandal
This week saw Finland's biggest party, and biggest media event, of the year. As thousands of Finns lined up for the privelige of shaking hands with the president, millions watched at home.
Eagle-eyed viewers noticed, however, that one individual got handshaking double bubble: after meeting and being greeted by the presidential couple, he then turned up again later on for another grip-and-grin.
Both tabloids have explored the issue. The idea that this might have been an accident — that the attendee got lost and ended up back in the queue — has been dismissed by veteran guests.
The layout and staffing at the palace, along with the somewhat cramped facilities, mean it would have been very difficult to accidentally end up back outside. Ilta-Sanomat has a graphic showing the layout of the palace and likely routes for the distinguished handshakers, demonstrating the unlikelihood of a lost guest ending up back in the queue.
Iltalehti interviews Green MP Atte Harjanne, who was behind the scandalous repeat guest. He said he did not notice anything untoward, but agreed that an accidental explanation is unlikely.
The handshaker himself, who was identified as a Salvation Army volunteer, did not respond to requests for comment from IS.
Expensive sports
Helsingin Sanomat covers a plea from a Turku football coach for cheaper costs for children and young people to play the sport.
Jani Mesikämmen coaches two girls teams in the city, and said that the costs of playing football can be prohibitively high. Just the equipment needed for training and games (excluding boots and shin pads) comes to 200-300 euros.
Then there is a 60 euro monthly charge for the facilities, plus 250 euros every time his teams participate in a weekend of games in the helmarit liiga (a competition organised by the Football Association).
Mesikämmen says he avoids foreign tournaments because of the cost, unlike many Finnish clubs, and tries to recycle old boots and other equipment where possible to reduce the cost.
After his Facebook post he received some donations which helped individual players, but he does not want the system to rely on individuals' generosity.
"We should not end up with an American model, where society, sports and even schools rely on charity," said Mesikämmen.

TERRORISM IN OCCUPIED HOLY LAND
January 10, 2018,  The Israeli army killed 15 Palestinian children in the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, in the year 2017, Defence for Children International- Palestine revealed yesterday. The human rights organisation [sic] said in a report that 12 children were shot dead, four of them during protests and three in ambushes setup by the army, while five children were killed during alleged attempts to carry out stabbing attacks. The report pointed out that a child was killed by artillery shelling in the Gaza Strip, and another by the explosion of a suspicious body while herding sheep near the city of Tubas in the northern West Bank while another died from injuries sustained in 2014. The organisation [sic] stressed that the Israeli army takes advantage of the lack of accountability to kill more children.
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180110-rights-group-israel-army-killed-15-palestinian-children-in-2017/ January 11, 2018,A three-year-old Palestinian was shot in the head during an Israeli “military training” session in the northern occupied West Bank city of Tubas. According to a statement by the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health, the child was hit in the head with live bullets. He was taken to Rafidia Surgical hospital in Nablus. She pointed out that the child’s relatives told “medical staff that he was shot during IDF training in the area.” “The health situation of the injured child is stable,” the ministry said. The Israeli military frequently conducts training in Palestinian communities in Tubas, the Jordan Valley of the occupied West Bank, Hebron, and several other areas. Palestinians are often forced to abandon their homes to make way for the training sessions.

Assassinating enemy scientists and discovering the secret lovers of Islamic holy men.’ “[Rise and Kill First by Ronan Bergman, the intelligence correspondent for Yediot Aharanot newspaper] alleges that Israel was behind the April 9, 2018,assassinations of around half a dozen Iranian nuclear scientists, killings apparently more preferable to Israel than a direct strike on Iran. The book also appears to claim that Israel used radiation poisoning to kill longtime Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. On March 30, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers shot 773 unarmed Palestinian protesters in Gaza, killing 17 and wounding 1,400. Twenty remain in critical condition. The protesters were marching to demand the internationally mandated right of return of refugees to their cities and villages in what now constitutes Israel. The Israeli leaders who ordered the massacre were in clear violation of international law. They should be prosecuted for war crimes. The use of deadly force against the peaceful protesters was premeditated. The IDF deployed 100 snipers to the border fence between Gaza and Israel, where 30,000 to 40,000 Palestinians had gathered for the Great March of Return.

More than 50 people, including eight children, have been killed by the Israeli military in Palestinian protests that erupted today along the Gaza border as the U.S. opened its new embassy in Jerusalem, Palestinian authorities said. The deaths and injuries to over 2,400 people came mostly from gunfire by Israeli forces as Palestinians amassed at the border in far greater numbers than in other recent demonstrations. Anyone intending to harm state security will be sentenced to ten years' imprisonment,’ the bill states. In addition to prohibiting documentation, the proposal prohibits distributing photographic or recording content on social networks or in the established media. MK Ilatov says the bill came as a response to harassment by left-wing operatives of IDF soldiers while dispersing violent demonstrations by Hamas on the Gaza border. Operatives were seen interfering with soldiers who blocked border crossings, accusing the soldiers of war crimes and calling them ‘terrorists.’

So how did we succeed - we, the State of Israel - in turning Gaza into what it is today? ... It is doubly astonishing that the demonstrators on the Gaza border are now finding this power in their hearts. The events of Black Monday, May 14, surprised the world. Masses of unarmed human beings, men, women and children, braved the Israeli sharpshooters. They did not draw weapons. They did not "storm the fence", a lie spread by the huge Israeli propaganda apparatus. They stood exposed to the sharpshooters and were killed. The Israeli army is convinced that the inhabitants of Gaza will not stand the test, that they will return to useless violence.” Strong as Death Uri Avnery (Israel)
