A lot of things are happening And it’s all at once. My day's here are numbered but at what cost. There is nothing here left for me Just a shell of who I was. Now it’s time for a new me. Instead of this Pause.

A new life is starting. My dreams have finally come true. I am a music teacher But it wasn’t an easy thing to get through. My mind is always turning Trying to figure me out. Am I really going to be finished Or is this just one more stop.

I’d like to think I’m stable. I’d like to think I’m ready. For now, I’m just going to go. Since I have this whole life ahead of me.

I Want to Remember Iowa Highways Forever.

It’s my favorite feeling in the entire world.

It’s like dying.

It’s like a resurrection.

Its shedding an old skin, layer by layer, slowly, delicately, until I am created anew.

It’s like hope is tangible, flirting, beckoning me closer.  Follow me.  I have more in store.

It’s like every promise I wanted to make to my seventeen-year-old self.  This is what you were looking for.  This, somehow, mysteriously, makes everything worth it.  

It’s freedom.  Breaking free from a prison, seeing things with new eyes.  It makes every simple thing so sweet -- breathing, seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling, knowing -- all so sweet.

It’s pity for all those who can’t feel what I feel.

It’s epic moments, invisible to the world. People in the car next to me, do you know what’s happening over here?  A transformation.  A creation story.  Magic. Emotions that don’t have labels.  A profoundly unique experience that will never happen again.  

It’s driving down a nearly empty Iowa highway in the dark.  A soundtrack of songs that got me through high school blasting, my throat sore from pouring my soul into them, but I can’t stop.  I’ve fulfilled so many of these songs; I have become them and then let them go.

It’s two, three, four firework shows in the distance, all soundlessly flashing, stretching, lighting up the sky for a brief moment before disappearing forever, leaving only their scent behind. Smoke fills the air.  They give up their very life to celebrate, to cheer me on, to inspire me. I use to hate them, fear them, and yet somehow, they have transformed, like me.

It’s the fireflies.  Endless amounts of fireflies flying around, the car moving so fast they become nothing but streaks of light.  I turn to look at the dark fields and it’s shoot stars of fireflies, making the night glitter.  I can only sneak glances, but they are precious, beautiful glances.

It’s being alive.  Purely alive.  Before me is nothing but possibilities and unanswerable questions.  Thrilling anticipation.  What if it all goes terribly wrong? But my God, what if it all goes wonderfully right?  I’m pulsing with life, wonder, awe, certainty and a fear that only gives energy and life.  

It’s not longer surreal, but instead the most true thing I’ve ever felt.  With reckless abandonment throw myself into it, letting it consume me, heal me.  I will probably never fall in love, but what does that matter?  Love cannot feel as good as this does.  This feeling is perfect and it’s fleeting makes it all the most precious.  

It’s my absolute favorite feeling in the world
