Crackships can have interactions and alot of them.

A crackship is a ship that is bizarre, hilarious or just simply put unlikely to become a pairing ever. So yes by that definition Rhysta would be considered a crackship because it's bizarre. It's out of a realm of possibility.

A rarepair is something that could have potential whether or not the characters have interactions. It's a pairing that by their personalities and dynamics could absolutely make sense if they were together. It's just not a pairing that most of the fandom ships. Sometimes, it could even be a canon ship, but that's insanely rare. As far as Neris, I really don't know because I don't follow that ship. I don't follow a lot of acotar stuff much these days. However, imo i believe it's still rare because unless you're a big stan of either character or the pairing itself, you don't really know about it.

The fact that people even call rhysta and neris crackships shows how this fandom knows nothing about fandom culture because what exactly about two het ships with plenty of canon interactions between them is a crackship to you 😭

Listen, I'm not going to sit here and assume that the vast majority of ZK shippers are straight when I don't know that for a fact, nor am I going to pretend that straight people can't positively contribute to fandom culture.

What I will say is that it seems like ZK shippers have never shipped a rarepair in their lives, and their entitlement and desire for canon validation is wild. My second favorite ATLA couple is Tysuki, but I am not antagonizing the writers and creators of the show because they didn't make them endgame. I'm also not out here claiming that Sokka is a terrible person/abuser or that the show is garbage, actually!, because the two characters I want to be in a romantic relationship weren't depicted that way on screen. 

I think a lot of sapphics and rarepair shippers (like myself) are used to our favorite ships hardly/never interacting, and we just... deal with it. I do not understand why ZK's aren't happy (or at least satisfied) with all of the actual, tangible moments that they got that they can expand upon through the form of fanworks.

Easy for me to say, right? My ship got the grand, epic kiss at the end and the last moment of the show. Okay, but consider a) this does not happen to me very often. You need only look at my ships tags to see that. And b) I would still ship Kataang if they didn't have that scene. My ass was down in the trenches for these two from The Fortuneteller onward. I watched The Cave of Two Lovers religiously as a 14-year-old. 

So yeah, there are some weird happenings in the ZK fandom that I have never observed to such a degree amongst any other fandom. (Namely, hating the show save for a handful of episodes where their ship interacts and completely misinterpreting the original material and messaging in order to fit their specific agenda.) Where that mentality comes from, I have no idea, but it is definitely misplaced in this modern era. Acting like you're oppressed for caping for a het ship that wasn't canonized over sixteen years ago is not the move.

Tbh, I see Takagene as having a similar dynamic to Luka and Hyuna the most from Alien Stage

Eugene as Hyuna and Takashi as Luka, to be exact

Hyuna's speech to Luka in Wiege and her thoughts on him in their comics is how I imagine Eugene would feel about Takashi in their dynamic

Despite both ships being toxic yaoi, Ivantill is actually the Alien Stage pair I think Takagene has the least in common with (just a personal opinion)

Which isn't to say they have nothing in common whatsoever, I still think they have a lot of similarities and that certain lyrics and lore between Ivantill could definitely fit Takagene

I drew Takashi as Mizi and Eugene as Sua, which I think fits pretty well overall, but tbh they're interchangeable

Especially with Mizi's monologue in My Clematis about 'belief in God', which I do think would fit more from Eugene's perspective

But they're demeanors, personalities, and how they act around each other fit with the way I drew them when I first thought about it, so I went with that

Tbh, this is a pretty canon dynamic for them, with Aeshin being Sua

However, fanonically (is that a word?), I headcanon that Takashi is also Sua in the ROMH music video, but specifically 'the Takashi that Eugene thought he knew', before Takashi was revealed as an antagonist

+ the song itself (Ruler of My Heart) fits Takagene so perfectly, I really want an edit of them to it

im gonna let you guys in on a little secret.

the more macden shippers shit on other pairings, the more multishippers like me will move towards their secondary and/or tertiary pairings. if i can't go into the charden tag without seeing a post intentionally tagged with multiple ships and trying to spark discourse between them by saying people who ship "rarepairs" are stupid and delusional, first of all, that's an instant fucking block, but like. I'm not going to feel like talking about macdennis when it feels like there's such an obnoxious pressure on you to fall into line and accept the widely preached and accepted fanon canon.

I love macden too. and I would post about and enjoy it a lot more if y'all didn't make it feel like we had to pick a side. just because you prefer the big popular ship, that doesn't make you smarter, or more correct than anyone who ships charden or charmac, it just means you have different preferences. i think macden has the biggest chance of being an actual couple on the show, and obviously mac and dennis are both gay and queer respectively, but if i want to ship charden, why can't i do that too? fandom is supposed to be fun, and it's supposed to be enjoyable, i don't want to have to fight to prove that this ship that i personally see working and enjoy the dynamics of is a "valid ship" when i am fully aware that they're not going to be canon that's kind of the point, and why i prefer it. and for the love of god... if you hc a pairing as platonic, that is perfectly fine. that's how i see charmac myself, but that is your view and your problem, not the shippers'. just block the tag so you don't have to see it if it bothers you that much.

and i don't like several of the other common rarepairs, but have any of you ever seen me talking shit on charmac or chardee shippers? no. stay in your lane and let people live. i'm sick of seeing people acting superior over a fucking it's always sunny in philadelphia ship.

giving fandom the most bombastic fucking side-eye for the way they do a lot of the characters, but one i think people actually get wrong-wrong more often than they get him right is genji. i feel like most of fandom just, fundamentally misunderstands both who he used to be and who he currently is. i don't think they grasp his motivations or know how to get into his head.

that group of hanzo/cassidy, ashe/cassidy, and sombra/cassidy fans who used to fight fucking constantly. like, i dunno if they're still going at it or if they've finally learned to block and move on, but the old slash-cassidy ship wars killed me, LOL.

Year-end Writer’s Round-Up: the 2020 edition

I will preface this by saying it’s been an insane year, and I know many people’s creativity was sucked dry by, well, everything. I find my emotional escape/comfort in writing fic, so I just... I dunno, went nuts with writing this year. There are a couple of things missing from this word count that I only posted on Tumblr, a couple of Solas/Nare drabbles and a piece of Orsino/Hawke smut, but I’m too lazy to track those down right now. And I have another unposted chapter of Inadvisable that’s about 10k words… ANYWAY, MOVING ON.

New things I tried this year:

I jumped headfirst into a few Dragon Age rarepairs this year! I’ve always loved rarepairs and have particularly enjoyed writing them for Horizon Zero Dawn in the past, so it was a pleasure to take on a few this year:

Felassan x Lavellan in The Love That Grows From Violence

Sten x Yara Mahariel in Fall Into The Tide

Samson x Roman Hawke for my soulmate @schoute​ - a ship that I never even saw coming and that hit me like a ton of bricks in the feels.

I also took the plunge into theorizing and sorting through Big Lore this year for Dragon Age — something I’ve avoided doing for years. I usually don’t like doing very deep dives because I’m a canon-compliant sort of girl, and the idea of getting attached to a theory that might end up being wrong makes me feel itchy. But when I started writing a Felassan-centered fic, I had no choice but to try and figure out the big lore since YA BARK-EATING BOYFRIEND KNOWS THINGS. I spent 10+ hours sorting through DA meta, both canon and fanon, to try and come up with something cohesive for that fic that feels as canon-compliant as possible, so that was definitely a cliff I didn’t mean to jump off of, LOL.

I also took a jump into writing a fic with three simultaneous and interconnected relationships in Inadvisable, my modern university AU with @elbenherzart​, which includes relationships for Solas, Abelas and Felassan. I was super excited but SCARED to do this: how to keep all three relationships interesting and exciting when the narrative keeps moving and flowing between the three relationships and the six characters who all know each other in different ways? Luckily, I had the wonderful Elbenherzart cheering me on and encouraging me with all the BEAUTIFUL ART she’s done for the fic, and I’ve been really enjoying it!

Fic I spent the most time on: 

Um, it’s probably a tie between two fics: The Love That Grows From Violence (Felassan x Lavellan) just because of that Big Lore deep dive, or Lovers In A Dangerous Time (Fenris the Inquisitor), which I finished earlier this year and took a long time just by virtue of the fic length and THE AMOUNT OF FEELINGS I HAVE FOR FENRIS AND RYNNE HAWKE.

Fic I spent the least time on: 

Wake Up, a quick oneshot featuring Varric and Solas, which I keysmashed in a couple of hours after the most recent DA4 trailer was released. 

Favourite thing I wrote:

Oh my god. Everything?? Writing is my escape and my pride and joy, so I love everything I write. All my rarepairs were absolute delights this year. Finishing Lovers In A Dangerous Time was bittersweet since I now kind of feel like I can’t write any further Fenris/Rynne until DA4 comes out. But Felassan has become my darling toward the end of this year and I’m thrilled to have brought a handful of wonderful readers down the Felassan rabbit hole with me. 

Favourite thing I read:

… I… have once again failed and read basically nothing this year. I started to read Pressure Point by 17734 on AO3 and really enjoyed it for a few chapters before I just… ran out of steam. Not because of the fic, because it genuinely was great —  the smut in the first chapter just about killed me, STG — but because I realized this year that, with very few exceptions, I don’t have enough emotional space to invest in fics with long intricate plots. I’m a fucking goblin who just likes to read smut, so I lose interest quickly if the fic isn’t strongly smut/romance-centered. 

TO THAT END, I do have a couple of smutfic recs:

Force of Nature, a Stenwarden oneshot by @minionripley: Maker save me, this was soOoOoO good and in-character for StennySten.

Provided It Tied You Down First by JadeLavellan on AO3: Solas and Trevelyan go to a Tevinter sex party for recon reasons. Oh my god, guys, IT’S SO GOOD.

Writing goals for next year:

Honestly? I’m not gonna make any. I’ll just go where the winds of inspiration take me, and where the winds of others’ whispered suggestions take me as well. 

To that end, I have to make a few shoutouts to people who have inspired me this year, either with their art or suggestions or encouragement (read: ENTHUSIASTIC SCREAMING): @schoute​ @elbenherzart​ @whatomen​, without whom a huge chunk of my fic this year would not exist; and @lethendralis-paints​​ @ashalle-art​ @slushrottweiler-blog​ who gifted me with beautiful fan art this year and made me want to weep. LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH.

What are your head canons for if Grelle met Nina? Do you think they would hit it off over fashion, or would they hate each other?

Aaaa yay! This is a favorite rarepair that I don't get many asks about, so thank you for sending this! As a disclaimer, I'll be answering with my fanon version of Nina (Nina 2.0, if you will) in mind, since Yana incorporates harmful lesbian stereotypes into her character that I'd rather not propagate here. Sorry, sensei; they're my characters now! >:3 I think the surrounding circumstances would dictate how their meeting went. For example, if Grelle met Nina while disguised as Madame Red's butler (because we know what a snazzy dresser An was), the tailor might have been dismissive of the timid, clumsy "man" the goddess was pretending to be. If Grelle demonstrated her knowledge of fashion, however, that would catch Nina's attention. Plus, if the reaper let flashes of her true personality show, the tailor might be intrigued by this mousey little butler (my girlfriend wrote a fic along those lines a while ago entitled "L'Amour Fleurit"). But since Grelle was so immersed in her killing spree with An, I'm not sure that she would seriously pursue a flirtation with Nina, and they wouldn't have many opportunities to meet up outside of a professional context, such as An commissioning dresses from the tailor.

Things could get spicier if Grelle met Nina as her true self. One reason I'm a fan of this ship is that their personalities are very compatible--both women are bold, outspoken, confident, unconventional, and possessed of a rather bawdy sense of humor. They'd be bonding over clothes and hot gossip within the first five minutes! Also, Nina has thing for pretty ladies, Grelle is very bisexual, and these two are easy on the eyes...so...y'know...there's some physical attraction there, as well. Of course, their hot tempers would be bound to clash, especially with Nina's stubborn streak, which would lead to the occasional shouting match when they disagreed. But once that fiery wrath simmered down, they'd move past it...make-up sex might possibly be involved. Due to their busy schedules, they usually see each other after the work day's wrapped up, getting drinks or dinner together before heading over to Nina's place for Grelle to spend the night. When Nina stays late in the shop finalizing a new design or modifying an outfit, Grelle keeps her company, and isn't above distracting the tailor with flirtatious banter when she's feeling mischievous. That banter often turns into something more; let's just say that Nina has multiple uses for her measuring tape, including putting a naughty reaper in her place (much to Grelle's unmitigated delight). They also go on dates at Nina's favorite cafe, where they daintily sip their beverages and disparage the other patrons’ outfits. XD The captivating goddess becomes a sort of muse for Nina, and the tailor even accepts Grelle's input on her designs due to the reaper’s extensive knowledge of clothing and good eye. Nina takes the extra time and effort to make Grelle a whole closet's worth of beautiful dresses; it's what our queen deserves. After learning more about Grelle's dysphoria and the struggles trans women experience, she's also inspired to discretely offer her professional services to members of London's LGBTQ community. Although she'd probably be taken aback upon learning that Grelle is a goddess of DEATH, I don't think it would hinder their relationship in the long run. The Hopkins family has worked for the Phantomhives for generations, so Nina's Seen Some Stuff. She loves Grelle (passionately), Grelle loves her (ardently), and that's what matters most!

Yo, you write some incredibly rare ships, and you seem to be interested in exploring even more. What inspires you to explore these unique pairings?

Honest Answer: I work at a position where I talk to almost no one because I’m the only ‘female’ (I say questioningly), youngest in my position by decades, and the culture/language barrier makes it difficult! So aside from small talk, listening to my coworkers play either the entire Avril Lavigne discography, Jrock or whatever on the speaker, I have my thoughts to entertain me 6 hours/4 days a week :D With an overactive imagination, this can be fun! I usually think of fanfics I want to write, visualize scenes in my head, but I ended up thinking of what new rarepairs I can do for the hell of it. 

More Creative,honest answer:

Honestly, when I do rare pairs, I do like to use characters that aren’t really that well used in fanwork (Edgar, Dethklok Minute Host, Trindle, Lavona, etc) or I like to experiment with characters people don’t really think about shipping, either because of the show’s portrayal or just simply never considered (Pickles/Abigail, Nathan/Lavona, Charles/Lavona, even young Salacia/Murderface though this is a pairing less of a rarepair and more of just more fuel to add to Galaktikon ll but that’s not for this postsfdkj-).

I feel like the phrase ‘Keep an open mind’ is something that you’d really need to explore more rare pairs. And I don’t mean this as in exploring toxic ships for fetish fuel or something but I mean as in characters that never interacted in the show for one reason or another or characters that did interact but maybe there is some potential. 

I feel like the first ship I gave this mindset to was trindle/edgar. I wanted to write a fic of magnus being comedically tortured (metaphorically) so what better way to write that than have Magnus be forced to help the biggest dethklok fan and biggest nathan simp for the purposes of the prophecy? I only had Trindle/Edgar there for the comedy...but of course, I fell in love with it. I saw potential afterwords; they were dethklok fans after all! Maybe they did interact before whether in commenting on each other’s forums or something. Of course, that fic is still in the backburner and now Trindle/Magnus is something I ship more but if I hadn’t decided to just give Trindle/Edgar a chance, I wouldn’t have thought of it before.

And something else I do sometimes (not anymore as nobody really has anything new to add to this these days) is when people answer those character ask memes and they state the NOTP, I try and figure out why Is that and if something could be done! Though this is only exclusive to one pairing as only one pairing has ever shown up in NOTPs and never OTPs and honestly? I feel like there’s more potential to it if people are willing to explore it. For purposes of keeping my fic on them a secret (because I'm mean), I’ll try and get people to guess :D

I notice that when people get asked NOTPs, especially in those character memes, they just kinda thrown in the ship that everybody collectively doesn’t like...and why is that? I feel like when people do that, they just put it down so NOTP doesn’t get a blank answer but don’t really explore, or at the most, explore it in the way people write Skwis/tok but either ignore bookklok or make it so the episode makes them closer. And this isn’t judging people who ship them, far from it! I admire anyone who can ship them still BUT still take into consideration of that episode and use that as character growth for Toki. 

Realizing that fanon does NOT mean canon and I can sometimes use canon to either ignore or use for my advantage has been such a liberating mindset. 

Not a rarepair but I do give credit to Nathan/Abigail for helping me see this. I feel like it’s a ship that on surface level, did get subjected to bad writing but that’s literally every other character at a point so if those characters get a chance, why not them? and to an extent, why not give characters like Trindle, Lavona, etc their own happy ending?

As for HOW specifically...that is yet to be answered-Honestly, the whole ‘throw something on the wall and see what sticks’ mindset kinda helps too! Try and think how two random characters would work. Just to show how my mind works, I'll show how I decide on a rarepair, and I just thought of Lavona/Pickles. It can work honestly! And why? 

Well...what if Nathan wasn’t the first choice for Lavona’s plan? What if it was one of the members? Yeah, let’s throw skwisgaar out as he’s probably had his own mission unknowingly completed. Pickles could be one of the potential candidates. Fiery personality is incredibly multitalented and intelligent in his own way. yeah, he’s got his problems but maybe she can excuse those problems for the chance of getting her revenge. So, perfect-they get Pickles! Her initial plan is to coerce him into sleeping with her and then her plan can get into fruition.

Pickles is trans and somehow everyone completely forgot about that. Ah well, Lavona will have to take one for the team regardless and well, he’s actually gentle with her, and she tries to leave but he just wants to be held for some reason-now she has these things called feelings.

Well, there you go a 25k will they won’t they comedy of Lavona trying to move on from Pickles but admittedly she can’t help be attracted to him :O

A Beginners Guide To Fanfiction

Just a forethought, I was inspired to do this by Coleydoesthings on YouTube, and you should definitely check all her videos out! They are super helpful!

First off, we should start with Terminology. There are quite a few odd words you’ll see that may not know the definition of. Below are some of those words and their definitions. Keep in mind that this is just some more common terminology, and there is definitely more out there than what’s listed here.

*will elaborate on in a later post

Hurt/Comfort*- when a character is hurt, and another comforts them

Whump- Extreme hurt/comfort

The Hanahaki Disease*- Unrequited love, symbolized by flowers

OTP- one true pairing

Fluff*- a genre of writing primarily focused on feel-good emotions, usually rated G/Gen/General

Angst*- the opposite of Fluff, usually depressing themes or dark elements. Emotional and/or physical pain

Fix-It- a type of fic where the author has taken it upon themselves to fix things from canon that they did not like

WIP- work in progress

MCD- major character death

Dead Dove: Do Not Eat*- a fic that contains ethically wrong things that are not shunned

Smut*- explicit sexual content, not safe for kids

One-Shot*- one chapter fics, typically focused on one scene or theme

Canon- the original content

Fanon- things that the fandom have unanimously agreed on, or something that has become so widely accepted that it gets confused as canon

Slow Burn- a very slow romance that takes a very long time to form

Beta- someone who helps fanfic writers proofread their work(s)

ABO*- alpha, beta, omega

Y/N- your name

Crack- hilarious, good for laughs

Self-insert*- when a fanfic writer creates a story the reader can put themselves in, typically using the “Y/N” insert instead of the main character name

Rarepair- not many people ship it

Songfic- a fic that uses song lyrics as a consistent theme

Trope- a type of plot used so often that it becomes widely known

Now that you have some basic terminology, it’s time to move on to the Abbreviations. I listed a few earlier, but there are a lot more.

BAMF- Bad Ass Mother Fucker, typically used to describe a character

FMV- fan-made video

Now that those are out of the way, we can look at some of the main sites for Fanfiction. Each one has different things to offer and has different communities.

Archive Of Our Own- a newer, more widely used fanfiction site, and is widely accepted as the best site.

Fanfiction.Net- older, but still used for the more ancient fandoms like Harry Potter or Naruto.

Wattpad- easiest to start out on, and it’s given a false reputation that all the fics written on the site are amateur because of this.

Jack / Raimundo — the forbidden ship,,,, it used to be my #1 when I was tWelve,, but at the same time I have no idea how they’d actually work I just want it. Jack admires Raimundo, Rai and Him make good foils (attention seeking/egoist, intelligent, capable of leadership, wind/metal diachotomy, hedonists, love to fly, capable of good and evil—). But alas, how do you make it WORK. Rai has too many good reasons to Not like Jack. And Jack,,, well he’s not about to make a move where there’s no chances.

Jack / Good Jack — man who better to love than yourself? Mostly just love GJ showing Jack love where he can’t do it for himself. ITS SELF CARE 👏🏻

Jack / Shadow — mostly my own interpretation of Shadow hfojsbf. Find that in the aes. Tag. But he wanna protect her from Chase he really do.

Jack / Jermaine — RAREPAIR AYE— but Jack is salty w Jermaine for getting the Chase apprenticeship, but Jermaine is just distant enough from the temple to kind of give Jack a breath of fresh air. Also they can pLaY BASKETBALL AGAIN. Jack had a lot of fun that showdown. One of his faves.

Top 10 Yu-Gi-Oh ships

Happy Valentines day!  I think today would be fitting to share my favorite yugioh ships!  If you’ve been on here since the beginning, you already know what number one is, but nonetheless.  My top 10 yugioh ships.

10. Revolutionshipping (Yami x Anzu) - This, along with another ship on the list was my first Yu-Gi-Oh ship, and so it has a special place in my heart.  I don’t think Yami returns her feelings in canon, but to say that he doesn’t care about her at all is bullshit.  I like how these two have a close bond, and if Atem didn’t have to leave, and have some more time to spend together, I could see these two going from a friendship to a romance.

9. Sparkleshipping (Kisara x Mana) -  The first of my rarepairs, this ship has grown on me recently.  If these two ever met, I believe they would get along really well.  Mana’s cheerful attitude would help Kisara’s insecurities, as well as her compassion would help Kisara be more confident in herself.  Also, I don’t know about others, but having a dragon for a girlfriend would be awesome!

8. Thiefshipping (Marik x Bakura) - The abridged series, enough said.

Tendershipping (Ryou x Bakura) - I initially didn’t like this ship because of how Yami Bakura treats Ryou in canon.  However, the fandom has caused me to like fanon tendershipping.  In many of the fanfics I’ve read (mostly AUs), Bakura is this quiet and loner kind of guy, with Ryou giving him a chance at friendship, and letting Bakura’s heart open up.  Reading all these fanfics, as well as the fanart, have made me open my heart to this ship.

6. Peachshipping (Yugi x Anzu) - This was also my first Yugioh ship, so it has a special place in my heart.  When I was first watching Yugioh, I would always light up every time Yugi and Anzu had a moment together.  They were just so cute.  And they still are today.  Plus there were cute moments in Dsod, with Anzu elbowing Yugi, the high-five at the end (and seeing the two in HD animation).  I even have an OC for Yugi and Anzu’s daughter, Hikari.  Once Anzu becomes a famous dancer, there is a famous game developer waiting for her.

5. Mistakenshipping/Noviceshipping (Yugi x Mana) - This. Ship. Is… Adorable!!!  Just imagine, Yugi and Mana sitting under a shady tree in the palace garden, Mana showing off her magic tricks to Yugi, while Yugi shows Mana all the duel monster cards, including Dark Magician Girl.  These two have personalities that would go so well together.  I wish this ship was more popular, because it is an adorable ship with adorable characters.

4. Polarshipping (Jou x Mai) - This ship has a lot of wholesomeness.  I love how at the beginning, Mai and Jou were rivals and over time, they became friends, and now the care about each other so much.  Jou was devastated when Mai lost her duel, and stayed by her side as much a she could.  Oh, did I forget to mention that he PLACED HIMSELF IN FRONT OF AN EGYPTIAN GOD (THE STRONGEST ONE MIND YOU) TO PROTECT MAI, EVEN THOUGH SHE COULDN’T REMEMBER HIM INITIALLY.!? Moving onto Doma, there was so much Polarshipping angst, and it is awesome!  I hope Mai and Jou find each other again, they were made for each other.

3. Heartshipping (Yugi x Ryou) - This ship is 100% fluff.  Just imagine, Yugi and Ryou cuddling with a blanket wrapped around them.  Or how about the two giving each other hugs and kisses.  Both have a connection to the spirits of the past, and both have such kind hearts that will make even the darkest of monsters smile.  Overall, this ship is fluffy, and I will forever love these two together.

2. Blueshipping (Kisara x Kaiba) - I wish the Set and Kisara story wasn’t cancelled, but I understand why it couldn’t go on with Kazuki being sick.  But, I would still love for Kaiba to find someone that he would be happy with, besides Mokuba.  Kisara might live on in BEWD, but what if she got a modern reincarnation?  I feel like if Kaiba was with someone who shared a connection with Blue-Eyes, like Kisara did, he would be happy.  Kristina is my modern day Kisara, with a connection to Blue-Eyes.  You know, I would probably ship Kaiba with Blue-Eyes, itself, but having Kristina/Kisara around would also make him happy.

And 1.Puzzleshipping (Yugi x Yami) - This ship speaks for itself.  Yugi and Yami’s connection is the strongest that I have ever seen.  They feel each other’s feelings, they know exactly what the other is thinking, and they are always in each other’s heart.  These two love each other so much, and have shown many times the lengths they will go for each other.  Doma gave us a huge amount of puzzle angst, and the ending/final duel was one of the saddest endings in anime.  We all cheered when they got to see each other again in DSOD, and we hope they will meet again in the distant future.  There are the AUs where Atem stays, and he and Yugi start to date and become lovers.  What more can I say, this ship is flawless, and it is the best Yugioh ship!

whats a crossover? the ocs you rp with are now actors/crew in their own universe’s movie/game/tv show. the chars from other fandoms are actors/crew in their source’s show/movie/game. 

your ship a rarepair u jump through hoops to put together? not anymore!! their actors are shacking up. 

lbr we’re all suffering the hiatus. who needs canon material for this!! they’re in shooting for the eps that’ll air in october.

summer is a writer too. noone, not even tai knows she’s gonna be playing summer when she shows up later in the show >:3c 

emerald and cinder being best friends who play up icly for the fans. emerald throws down on twitter with anyone who harrasses cinder for playing a baddie 

winter wasn’t an actor originally. she writes novels, but she was on set one day waiting for weiss to finish shooting so they could go to lunch. 

she was given first dibs on an audition to play weiss’ ic sister and nails it. weiss insists she’s not even acting, she’s just Really Like This 

winter writes fanfic of emerald/cinder on ao3 for shits and giggles dont @ me. noone knows its her bc she uses winter’s ic callsign as a username and ppl just assume its a winter fan

this is yang’s first big acting job, but she’s Known in celebrity circles because her mom is the Very Famous Raven Branwen.raven’s a household name

qrow is very vocal about his character’s storylines and supports charities relating to substance abuse. he frequently finds himself in twitter discourse with fans because he loudly discourages romanticising his character 

this gets him accused of hating his character, which he doesn’t. fandom either loves him or hates him 

qrow and raven arent siblings but they might as well be because they’re so fking close and roast each other on twitter all the time 

neo’s actress is actually a really famous opera singer who’s breaking into acting. this gives rise to the popular fanon that neo actually can talk and has a bitchin’ voice but chooses not to. 

emerald’s an orphan. she bounced around kids homes and developed a great talent for lying in the process. hearing a drama teacher describe acting as ‘lying really well’ sealed the deal for her career choice. she’s had bit parts and lives in a shitty apartment until rwby becomes her first big break. 

coco was a big actress in france. she came to america seeking to break into hollywood, and found it pretty difficult. she’s emerald’s roommate, and it’s emerald who tells her about the opening for a member of team cfvy and pushes her to audition. 

ilia has to wear one of those green screen suits all the time so they can animate her scales. yang gets a selfie with her every time she’s wearing it. takes upon takes have been ruined by blake and sun laughing at her. 

it annoys ilia at first. then, she starts to find it funny. then, she gets her own back by purposefully making people laugh. she does the yoshi mlem every time she cracks her whip. 

pyrrha’s actress routinely gets bit parts and cameos in future volumes bc the cast and crew love her so much they want her around all the time. she’s like 50% of the reason a comedy mini-series where nothing bad happens exists alongside the main series. 

the entire cast and crew rallying around cinder after v3 when the fan backlash comes from pyrrha’s onscreen death. they throw a party after to celebrate pyrrha and cinders great performances. its a greek theme

team rwby, smartasses that they are, all come dressed as achilles with little papier mache arrows stuck in their heels

weiss is a Career Showman. she started off in ballet, then moved to broadway, then onto the bigscreen. she’s had a huge amount of success despite how young she is, and was continually pushed to land greater and greater roles. she suffered a very publicised breakdown because of the stress. 

she ‘disappeared’ in the showbiz scene when she went to live with winter in her remote little writing shack in the middle of assfuck nowhere to recharge. 

rwby is her first acting job since then. she was hesitant to start back at all, but finds herself extremely supported and refreshed by the small, close-knit production. 

blake’s had to work twice as hard for every role she’s ever landed due to being an ethnic minority. her professionalism makes her seem closed off and cold, so she hasn’t made many friends. she has a small, devoted fanbase, though.

summer is one of those fans, and has always wanted to cast blake in something. her character was written with her in mind, and summer was elated when blake accepted the proffered audition and subsequent role in rwby. 

ruby is summer and tai’s daughter!! they are not shy at all about saying that her part was written For Her. they don’t apologise for it either fuck u they created this show they cast who they want. 

the red trailer only initially existed for ruby to do a screentest of her character. it was so well produced and nailed so hard they made it promotional material and wrote the white, black and yellow ones to go with it. 

ruby grew up reading her parents’ stuff and writing her own, too. in school, she wrote, directed and produced an entire play for her classmates, but never thought of acting until her parents suggested she play the lead in this new show they’ve been thinking about. 

ruby and yang met on set. they’ve been thick as thieves ever since.

YES HAHA this was kinda like when i was 11 or 12? but anyways back then I used to have this series of OCs on instagram which were basically personified zodiac signs (was heavily inspired by hetalia,.,.,,.,) and there was this person on instagram who was also doing their own personified countries series (which is really really good btw and has a LOT of research put into it) and this anon on thiscrush wrote this whole paragraph and accused me of plagiarising that person’s idea of personified characters (also calling me homophobic?), but little did that anon knew that me and that person were really good friends at that time

Lance hmm..,,, I. feel like I might get chased for this by some people but I don’t really… understand/support black paladin lance?? I don’t exactly have an opinion on who would fit most for black paladin but Lance wouldn’t really be one of my first choices (I guess I just need more convincing? most of the reasons I’ve seen people want black paladin lance is just mainly because he’s their favourite, he’s the best etc etc and the typical fanon behaviour of putting him up on this really hiiiiigh pedestal so yeah.. I just need more solid reasonings outside of what fanon says)

OH FOR VLD? Do you want an alphabetical list or a chronologica- asddjkfhsjdkf okay moving on but it’s just!!! so many people are being so fucking immature and childish and some not even have fucking human decency (read: death threats, everything that has happened with the VAs, etc etc it goes on) over a fictional characters in a fictional show, and therefore ships and characters that do not exist at all. So would you really put the lives of people who do not exist irl over actual living breathing humans??? Sadly, the answer is clearly yes for some people in this goddamn fandom (and also even for other huge fandoms out there)

The point is Hockey Stiles and Hockey Derek do not hate each other at first sight,, but there's a sort of one-side admiration with a healthy dose of fear, as well as on-sided aggravation with a healthy dose of "this kid is gonna get killed; gotta protect him so he doesn't, I guess!! But I don't have to like it." And now this is more of a Sterek hockey au, which is not what I wanted but am probably gonna do someday. But a n y w a y s!

To go back to Flames 10th game Sterek! I'm making the entire Flames team to be huge Sterek fans okay? Some of them started as TW, then got disgusted and moved to Sterek after 3a (? I've never seen the show, just fallen into fics but everyone seems to agree 3a is where it fucked up), whereas others are still fans today and happy with the Stydia vibes even though they don't like everything on the show. Point is (sorry it changed again, whoopsie, that's what happens with stream of thought). TW shipping wars in the Flames!! 

My first idea was having two clueless idiots ("Sterek") be the perfect stand-in ever because 1) They don't know TW and thus 2) cannot skew the bet (which I'll come to in a second) and 3) have complex interactions (like most human beans) which makes them perfect for 4) shipping wars! Anyways it all starts with Elliott (I only know 3 flames players, all of whom I discovered at yesterday's match: Johnny (13) who goaled (so he's gotta be attacker, right?), Chiasson who got a stick in the face and tackled a kid on the ice (listen, I know they're all adults but the commentators said the tackled one was "small" (5'10" which hey, taller than me) and my brain replaced it with smol especially after we got a glimpse of his pained face) and Elliott, the goalie who is both my baby and my son, like Flower, and pbbly every other goalie I'm gonna see ever). A n y w a y s still not the point! Ugh, brain, focus!

Point is Elliott starts it all at one point by saying smthg like "Your Sterek is showing" which leads to the 2 clueless ones looking at him weird, and 3 other (not Sterek fans) to chirp something back about Elliott's own Sterek showing, which leads to Elliott valiantly defending his point, citing various past interactions why the two clueless ones (who have by then left the place b/c reasons) are totally Sterek in disguise. 

And then of course there's another who says "are you kidding; they're totally Stydia" with proof to boot (I dunno obvious admiration on one side, not-worth-the-dust-on-my-foot on the other, one hiding smarts, the other applying it to completely ridiculous subjects Idk). And then Elliott and Patrick (Is there a Patrick on the Flames? I feel like there is. Otherwise I'm replacing it with Johnny) glare at each other murderously, before declaring "this is war" and dragging the rest of the team in their game to see which is more Stydia or Sterek. 

A few try to add rare pairs to the mix, like Stallison, Allydia, Stoyd, Steter, Scisaac, Allirica, Allisaac, Petopher, Skittles, whatever Melissa/Sherriff is called (and all the suggestions mostly came from one guy Chiasson because "listen, sticking to one rarepair isn't realistic, because there's simply not enough material to sustain you if you just have one OTP"). His suggestion was vetoed because fanon contradicts itself on that, and the show doesn't have enough material to judge what would be a rare pair worthy interaction (also Skittles would win by default, because hug, argument about anything, any sort of shared look, bad ideas would all be Skittles). So now there's random calls of "Stydia moment!" and "Well that was awfully Sterek of you!" and after every game the team (minus clueless) comptabilises the Stydia/Sterek moments  to see which team won.

And their 10th game streak yesterday?  Was also their 10th game in which Sterek won. (Btw the judge is Chiasson and thus impartial b/c he hates both pairings equally for taking up all the writers/fanartists till he has like 5 other people in each of his micro-fandoms)

So yeah.

Arthur/Moody: ……okay, like, I have basically no positive feelings about Alastor Moody — I mean, I feel the same need to defend him from JKR’s ableist garbage that accidentally got me in too deep with Lockhart, but we are still talking about a guy who supports using Dementors on people and apparently dngaf about what someone’s done, just send ‘em all to fucking Azkaban (GOF ch. 30, the flashback of Moody we see in the first Pensieve scene)

who thinks that the best present you could give to a kid who’s lost his parents and just watched a classmate be murdered…… is going over a photo of the First War Order and telling him about how all of them died horribly and he doesn’t ever stop to think that this might not be the best idea (OOTP)

and who is legitimately less sensitive to other people’s needs and less dismissive of people who aren’t his exact model of “useful” than a literal fucking Death Eater one of the biggest points where Barty Crouch Jr. drops character in GOF is when he takes Neville to his office and gives him a pro-Herbology pep-talk, and goes, “so, hey, Longbottom, Professor Sprout said you’re super-good at this subject, why not pursue it,” because based on the actual canon about him? The real Alastor Moody would never do something like that.

Like, he might have the moment he has with Harry and Hermione, where he goes, “so, hey, both of you could be gr10 aurors if you wanted, you should think about it” because that, from Moody, would be a compliment, and Harry and Hermione more closely fit his own ideas of usefulness, but not so much the Neville moment)

—but seriously, do you hate him or something? Why else would you even dream of shipping him with Arthur Weasley? Lucius/Moody: again, I’m not on the Alastor Moody fan-train or anything, but why would you even do this. Nobody deserves to be shipped with Lucius Malfoy, like? He’s not even an entertaining villain, he’s just pathetic. He’s a sad, pathetic fantasy-fascist who gets his kicks by bullying twelve-year-olds and torturing muggles who can’t defend themselves. He’s a complete waste of character space and forcing anyone to be in a ship with him is just unfathomably cruel

Lupin/Snape: meh, whatever. Like, it’s not my thing, but… *shrugs* meh?

Like, idk what you’re looking for here, nonny, but I’m guessing, based on the other two ships, that you’re looking for me to get cranky and ship-bashy and figured that Snu//pin was a good way to get there, since there are a lot of legitimate Problems with this ship in the text

But the thing is, I’m just under 900 years old (at least in fandom terms), and I remember the days back before HBP came out, when Snu//pin was the second-most popular Remus ship (after Wolfstar, to the surprise of no one), and was, in fact, so popular that it had its own private archive and got black-listed from most rarepair comms because it, “wasn’t really rare, just less popular than D//rarry, Wolfstar, Ro//mione, Dra//mione, H//inny, and J//ily”

—I mean, there was a short stretch before OOTP where I tried to make myself like it because there was a BNF whose art I loved, and she shipped Snu//pin, so I felt like I had to be missing something obvious and cool and because I was, like, twelve, I tried to make myself ship the thing. That didn’t work and I eventually just moved on, but one thing that I recall about the Snu//pin fandom that appears to still be more or less true, based on everything I’ve seen of the present-day Snu//pin fandom?

Is that they came out about the same as the Wolfstar fandom, in terms of how many shippers ignored or made excuses for #Problematic things about the ship vs. how many shippers work those things into the overall fabric of how they ship the thing, how many shippers LIKE the ship because of those Problematic parts and having the opportunity to explore them in fiction, how many shippers actively dive head-first into exploring those parts of the ships because that’s where they find the most engaging character interactions or whatever they’re into, etc.

For examples of what I mean when I say #Problematic things about the ships:

the fact that all three of them are self-loathing [human or werewolf] disasters who are often passively suicidal and either prone to acting out on those feelings (Sirius and Severus), or prone to repressing those feelings until they explode all over some innocent bystanders (Remus)

the fact that all three of them have suffered horrific abuse in their pasts — whether from their parents or other sources — and find ways to take it out on other people (Severus on his students, Sirius on Severus and Kreacher, and Remus on almost anyone who tries to get close to him, even as he makes it seem like he isn’t doing that)

Severus outing Remus as a werewolf because he’s upset and felt like punishing someone else for it, thereby leading to Remus tendering his resignation

the fact that Sirius assuming Remus had to be the spy would’ve been at least partially based on anti-werewolf prejudices, and Sirius still clearly had at least some of those prejudices on his own, because even if Peter totally manipulated them in his favor, there had to be something there for Peter to manipulate in the first place, so???

the fact that Remus doesn’t help shit anything, in any situation ever, with his habit of trying to weasel out of any Emotionally Difficult™ conversations and his tendency to mentally spin most situations so that everyone is going to leave him in the end anyway so it’s acceptable to shut down, close himself off, and pull stunts that more or less come down to, “totally up and bailing on everyone,” which is understandable, given his backstory, but dude, that doesn’t make it okay or helpful??

basically, “literally anything about the characters as individuals, or in terms of their interactions with each other — both past and present — that could potentially cause problems for either/both/any/all of them and potentially make the relationship unhealthy (or unhealthier than it already was, in the cases of Snu//pin and Snack because…… oh boy, let’s not even act like either of those — or any ship with Sev in it, for that matter — is ever going to be ‘healthy’ by any definition)”

So, like? Is Snupin #Problematic? Yes, definitely. Are some of its shippers prone to ship it in #Problematic ways? Oh, yes, absolutely (Hell, the BNF whose art I used to like even flat-out said things like, “Sirius would never be able to be there for Remus like Snape could” and… um? Even granted that this was pre-OOTP: ummm???)

But on the whole, Snu//pin shippers aren’t actually any worse about totally ignoring and/or excusing these elements of their ship than Wolfstar shippers are (and, actually, they might be doing better than a LOT of the present-day Wolfstar fandom, since I usually don’t see any more recently made Snu//pin that doesn’t grapple with at least some of the #Problematic elements of it — they don’t always do it well, but at least they’re trying, which counts for a lot, to me, because most people don’t even try — while most Wolfstar these days flat-out ignores all the #Problematic elements of Sirius and Remus as characters, and of their relationship, in the name of what often amounts to borderline-OOC caricatured fanon nonsense, so…)

and is still the case as I’m over here, all like, “ugh, man, at least we used to have SOME people in this fandom who enjoyed reading Wolfstar angst, now it seems like nobody cares about anything unless it’s all fluff, all the time, with absolutely no room for anything else because god forbid you ever want to write about LGBTQ characters whose lives aren’t 5,000% perfect, that obviously must mean that you’re a gross fetishistic cishet and not, for example, a neurodivergent, mentally ill lesbian survivor who feels left out by the trend towards forcing every LGBTQ person to act like we’re happy, all the time, and to act like we’re only interested in fictional LGBTQ people who are perfectly 5,000% happy all the time

—anyway, my motto has been and remains, “It isn’t a question of WHAT you ship, it’s a question of HOW you ship it,” so hey. Snu//pin is not my thing (it’s not even as non-shippingly interesting to me as Sirius/Severus is, because I love how much those two hate each other while unwittingly being perfect foils for each other), but I don’t actually have any desire to ship-bash it and most Snu//pin shippers are okay with me because unless they’re actually doing anything that’s harmful to anyone else, it’s not my business what they ship

That said: “Snu//pin” is still one of the worst portmanteau ship names ever and it still sounds like a deadly virus or something, but *shrugs* Whatever, it’s not the shippers’ faults that their ship members’ names don’t smush up all that nicely
