I saw this picture this morning and I was instantly convicted. So many times I have been angry at God for the "giving and taking away" of things. And then I saw this picture of Mary. The ultimate example of God giving and taking away. Her life had to be so painful. Yet...she trusted God that the pain she felt was for her best...and my best and your best.
We often desire faith like the disciples had because they seem strong, but today, my prayer is to have faith like Mary.
She gave the ultimate sacrifice when she watched her son lay down his life for a world that would never truly appreciate it.

🔸Pre-Queen Singles Discography🔸
Today, on June 29th, 1973 - 'Pre-Queen' Story!
'I Can Hear Music' / 'Going Back' released in the UK, Germany and USA
🔸In the summer of 1972, Trident Studios' in-house engineer Robin Geoffrey Cable instigated an experimental project in an effort to emulate the "wall-of-sound" style made famous by Phil Spector. Queen happened to be recording their debut album in the studios at the time, so he invited Freddie Mercury to lay down the lead vocals who, in turn, roped in Brian May and Roger Taylor to provide percussion, guitar and backing vocals - as paid session musicians.
In June 1973, shortly before Queen's own debut album was released, EMI decided to cash in on the emerging glam rock trend and rushed out the resulting recordings as a 7" single under the name of Larry Lurex - an obvious send-up of Gary Glitter.

🔸The Ronettes (and later Beach Boys) classic 'I Can Hear Music' was recorded that summer in Trident Studios and features (per Freddie's insistance) Roger Taylor on drums and Brian May on guitar. The single was released in the UK a week before Queen's first album, becoming the first solo product by a Queen member. Freddie insisted the Queen name not be used for the release, so it was released under the pseudonym Larry Lurex.
🔸'Goin' Back' is best known as a 1966 single by Dusty Springfield. The song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and was recorded by a number of artists including The Byrds, Phil Collins and eventually Carole King herself.
The song was used as the B-Side to the Larry Lurex single "I Cant Hear Music".

I had plan for Tang Shen to suffer the same fate like her previous iterations but I ended up loving the idea of her finally being a mother figure to the turtles. Even tho Shen is biological Miwa’s mother, she still love turtles like they are her own and they’ll love her like she’s their mother.
The same goes for Miwa, I don’t plan for to be mutated into a snake like her 2012 counterpart. Instead she’ll be in gymnastics to represent that and will be more sisterly to her younger siblings.

Happy Mother’s Day ❤️
Here are some Bible verses that honor Mothers:
1. Proverbs 31:26-27: "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness."
2. Proverbs 31:28: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."
3. Exodus 20:12: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you."
4. Isaiah 66:13: "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem."
5. 1 Timothy 5:14: "So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander."
These verses highlight the wisdom, honor, comfort, and importance of mothers and their roles in households and society.

Hi everyone! Since black history month is almost coming to an end (this does not mean we should stop celebrating and honoring the achievements of black Americans. We should continue to learn and educate ourselves). I thought I share one last book which caught my interest — In Your Hands by Carole Weatherford.
Tumblr media
In Your Hands • {Carole Weatherford | 2017}
In Your Hands is a 32-page picture book written by Carole Weatherford. The picture book was published in 2017 for young children between the ages of 4 - 8 years old.
In the picture book, the story begins by introducing a new mother, describing her hopes and dreams for her newborn son. The mother knows that as her child grows older, she won't be able to protect him from the all the dangers and difficulties from the world, so she sends prayers to god to protect her black son; this book sends a reminder that all lives matter, reinforcing the Black Lives Matter movement.
This picture book tells a powerful, heartwarming story which touches on important themes like motherly love, social justice issues like the Black Lives Matter movement and discrimination, the struggles and fears of people of color, and many more.
Overall, the picture book is accompanied by beautiful illustrations by Brian Pinkney. Pinkney's illustration was very captivating and somewhat abstract with the use of loose sketchy illustrations with the use of watercolor and gouache. Another thing I loved about Pinkney's illustrations is the dominant use of yellow, green and blue to symbolize the idea of hope.
