I’ve got another set of binder covers up for sale on Gumroad today. These fit the personal size 6 ring binder style like Filofax, Moterm and others. The artwork features a stationery flat lay for the stationery lovers out there.

Filofax update!
Got a metropol Filofax cover! Like it enough, it’s not the super luxurious feeling of a moterm but it’s black and smooth and stays flat on the table and I’m not dealing with as much of an overhang as I did previously!
Am much more comfortable in this size at this point, and I think it all just came down to me accepting that 1. My Filofax does not have to be perfect 2. It doesn’t need to be unique, it just needs to be functional 3. Every page doesn’t have to be pretty and beautiful and it’s okay not to decorate if that makes me nervous. It’s the text that matters anyway.
As such I’ve stepped back from making inserts and such at the moment because honestly what works best for me right now most of the time is just grids on a paper. I don’t need more and I trying to fit myself into a template that doesn’t work for me is just exhausting and takes away a lot of the joy of journaling/commonplacing. It becomes so much about making a pretty thing that I forget about the actual content inside.
Sometimes I use a margin, I find that helpful if I’m reading fiction because I often wanna have some comments on the text, but I’ve also started making pages with two columns. The two columns take care of a couple of issues I’ve had with larger insets: when reading text books or non fiction I don’t always have a lot of input as it’s just sort of pure knowledge. Making those types of notes on a page with a margin makes me a bit anxious because I’m not using the whole page. However, I don’t really like the look of just a broad sheet of text covering the entire page, I find it a bit messy and very difficult to find individual passages later on. Creating two columns looks much neater in my eyes, even if there’s no real difference, and I can find passages much more easily.
I’ve also started measuring my energy and productivity levels. Not really productivity because it’s not so much how much I get done in a day as how often I get stuck and/or if this has anything to do with my energy levels. I deal with quite a lot of autistic inertia (difficulty starting tasks, maintaining tasks if interrupted and ending tasks) and I don’t know if measuring when this happens will have any real importance in managing it but I thought I’d give it a try. The measuring energy thing I got from a post by @darkmacademia I believe, where they suggested measuring your energy levels for two weeks and scheduling your life and tasks around that. Sounded like a good idea so I’m gonna give it a try. Made some fun inserts just for that!

Hello! I'm interested in buying a personal rings cover but I can't decide between the Filofax Norfolk, FInsbury or the Original and I think you have all three. If you were to rate them, which would be your favourite to your least favourite?
norfolk is probably my least favourite, the material and appearance is nice but the bigger rings make it bulky in strange places, and very much unforgiving to pages that aren’t strictly personal size. moterm are doing it better
finsbury is fine (no notes, no real complaints) i just wish the closure wasn’t so skinny(?) idk why but im just not into the narrow closures
original is probably my favourite- flexible, relatively compact, wider closure. elastic inside is useful for holding things. wish u could get a gold version in the uk though

Archiving can be tough!! Off the top of my head I know there’s a few options for rings. I’ve seen some people use loose binder rings (they look like circular clasps) to archive, sometimes you can get them where they’re a 3-set like the filofax holes are. (my_life_by_luna on insta is who I’m thinking of who uses these, they seem effective!) ✍️
There’s also a couple options for archiving binders. Filofax makes some of their own, but I’m not overly fond of the prong-style they went with. Franklin Covey makes archive binders for their compact size that also fits Filofax personal, so you’d be able to flip through the pages a bit easier. (Megan Rhiannon has a really great video on these!) 📒
The system I use, the closest that you might get in rings is to buy just the rings (searching “ring binder mechanism replacement” works best) in a size as big as you can get it - 30mm or bigger. With Moterm you can get 2 for around $10! Then you could make cardstock/plastic/etc. covers to protect the pages if desired. ✨
Lots of options! Apologies for the length of the message. 🙇♀️ Journaling and memory keeping is one of my favorite things, I know way too much about systems I don’t even use!
Lovely I might eventually go with the 30mm ring option! Will checkout the Franklin and the bloggers you mentioned!
