I really do think the Cady in the Movie of the Musical of the Movie Mean Girls is funny and engaging, but. Like. In the movie, Cady is only really naive in the sense that she has not been exposed to Girl World (or the arbitrary institutional unpleasantness of the typical American high school). She would be perfectly functional in a rational environment, and in many ways she begins as the kind of girl that many parents would have wanted their daughters to be circa 2004 (from progressive bohemians to moderate conservatives still practical enough to want academic/professional success for their daughters). She’s smart, friendly to everyone, and not neurotic about body image. She’s drawn into Girl World because it’s attractive despite the bullshit. And there is a rhetorical purpose to this that just gets dulled if Cady is genuinely immature and out to lunch —if, when her mom worries that it was the wrong decision to send her to a big school, you’re like “yes, obviously” rather than “well, I wouldn’t have predicted that she’d get drawn in an elaborate revenge plot, either.”

“what movie do you wanna watch?” jennie asked from beside you on the couch, remote in hand and scrolling through netflix.
“anything’s fine me,” you responded, leaning your head on your best friend's shoulder.
a smile spread on your face simply enjoying the moment, you didn’t have many friends, but you’d trade the world for your friendship with jennie. you two had been friends since middle school when she defended you from a bully. jennie, being the richest and most popular girl in school, had easily stopped the bullying that was directed towards you. you would forever be grateful for her friendship. she was the person you trusted most.
you both settled on watching blue jay, reading the description and finding it interesting. by the end of the movie you and jennie were both sobbing into each other's embrace.
“they should’ve ended up together.“ you sobbed out through tears, a clear frown on your face as you recalled the ending that had just played.
“she should just break up with her husband!” jennie exclaimed, leaning more into you.
“let’s just watch my little pony.” you said, in hopes that my little pony would make you feel better.
“let's watch rainbow rocks! i love that movie you much!” jennie said, already having forgotten about the sadness she felt. the sadness replaced with excitement to watch her favorite movie.
a smile replaced your frown at how excited she seemed at the idea of watching rainbow rocks. you found her adorable like this, you found jennie’s childish side so endearing. when jennie was around you allowed all the walls you had surrounded yourself with to drop. she was truly your best friend, you genuinely wouldn’t know what to do with yourself if you didn’t have her.
if only you had been more wary, maybe then things would’ve been different.
“let's go to bed now, i’m tired.” you whined, burying your head in jennie’s neck. “carry me?” you asked, jutting your bottom lip out in hopes she’d carry you to your bed.
“fine, only ‘cause you’re cute.” jennie said, easily scooping you up and carrying you upstairs bridal style.
when she reached the inside of your room, she threw you onto the bed, causing you to yelp. “what if i got hurt?” you pouted.
in response to this, she just pinched your cheek and said ‘well it’s a good thing you didn’t.’ the pout on your face stayed hearing her words.
jennie jumped on the bed next to you, pulling you closer to her by the waist and burying her face in your neck. “ ‘m tired, les just sleep.” jennie mumbled into your neck.
you giggled, the ticklish feeling of her talking making you tilt your neck to the side her head resided. not suspecting anything, you slowly felt yourself fall asleep in your closest friends embrace. the thought of jennie ever bringing harm to you never even crossed your mind. that’s why when you woke up in the middle of the night to a stinging pain in your lower region you called for jennie. you called out her name, tears stinging your eyes thinking someone had broken into your house and was now forcing himself onto you.
when jennie’s voice called back from above you, your eyes widened. “surprised?” her voice echoed in the mostly silent room. you let out a broken sob, it was jennie. the person you trusted most in this world was forcing herself onto you. you shook your head side to side, refusing to believe this tragic reality.
“no,no,no, it can’t be. my j-jennie’s a g-girl a-and she w-wouldnt.” you brokenly sobbed out.
jennie’s grip on your hips tightened as her hips that were slamming into yours never stopped. an evil grin spread on her face “sorry baby, but it’s me, your jennie.” following her words, she tugged the metal chain of your bedside lamp, lighting up the room. the dim light was enough for you to see that it was jennie and that she was smiling through your torture.
“c’mon baby, i know you want it too. just enjoy, let me take care of you.” jennie said, a hand reaching down to your clit and circling it.
you shook your head side to side. you didn’t want this, you hated her, you hated her for taking your virginity without your permission. but if that was so why were you struggling to hold back your moans. “let me hear those pretty moans.” jennie said, reaching her other hand to your mouth to release your lip from your teeth. you whimpered at this action.
“see, i knew you wanted this as much as i did. you hear that, you’re so fucking wet, baby. you can deny it all you want but your body’s telling me the truth.” jennie said, her finger on your clit never stopping and successfully distracting you from the pain of her splitting you open.
“fuck baby, your squeezing my cock so hard.” she grunted out, delivering a blow to your thigh, her red handprint staining your skin.
you let out a squeak at the impact. her bringing harm to you differing so much from her earlier once again brought tears to your eyes. how could she do this to you, the one person you trusted more than you trusted yourself. “i thought you loved me, i thought you were my friend.” you said, lip wobbling and eyes brimming with tears once again.
“i am your friend y/n, it’s because i’m your friend that i’m doing this. i’m the only one who can treat you well. i’m doing this because i love you, i cant let anyone else fuck you baby. it’s for your own good.” punctuating each sentence with a grunt, her voice dripping with condescension.
hearing her words you could only sob harder. where was your jennie that you would watch my little pony with, the jennie that would cook for you, the jennie that would sing to you? you could only wonder.
“fuck baby, i’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. the moment i saw you, i knew that i had to have you. it was so worth it to wait all those years.” you wondered if she ever actually saw you as a friend, or if it was all just for sex. she only befriended you so that one day she could do this.
“i-i hate you! I hate you, jennie kim!” you exclaimed through tears, thrashing around trying to push her off you. you knew it was no use, she carried you around regularly. you knew she was much stronger than you. you stopped your thrashing when you felt her hand come down on your face. the sound echoed throughout the room, her thrusting stopping as she grabbed your neck.
she squeezed, blocking your airways. you clawed at her hand around your neck trying to get her to let go. her thrusting started up again, this time harder and faster while choking you. “wanna fucking act up, dumb fucking whore? you really think you can escape? you think you can push me off? dumb fucking bitch.”
“i-i’ll tell the cops. i’ll t-tell them that you raped me.” you said, her hand still at your neck and squeezing harder with every word that left your mouth.
“and you think they’ll believe a slut like you? what’re you gonna tell them, the millionaire jennie kim raped you with her big dick? they’ll call you delusional and crazy, no one would believe you over me. you think they’d even believe i have a dick? i’ll drive you to the police station myself after this. i dare you to.” a sense of helplessness washed over you at jennie's words. she was right, she was so influential that many people probably lied about her daily. and to say she had a cock? who would believe you?
you didn’t have anyone other than her, your parents never wanted you. and with jennie, you never thought of the need for other friends. you had no one and she had everyone and everything. you were a nobody and she was somebody. you couldn’t do anything. you could only accept this horrible reality. you stopped fighting against her and just laid limp on the bed.
“that’s it baby, enjoy it. so many people would kill to be in your place.” jennie’s hand around your neck dropped and she flipped you over, your ass in the air and head in the pillows.
“fuck baby i’m almost there.” she grunted out, slapping your ass as she went faster. her finger circled your clit as she tried to bring you over the edge too. you hated yourself so much for the moans that slipped past your mouth. you hated this, you wanted to hate what she was doing and her. your body wasn’t aligned with your head though, you body’s response of pushing back into her making her think you wanted her more.
“fuck, such a slut for my cock. you say you don’t want me yet here you are pushing back into me and moaning. what a slut.” you bit into the pillow trying your best to stop the whine from leaving your throat. why did your body have to have this response?
“g-gonna fucking breed this slutty hole of yours, fill you up with my babies.” your eyes widened at this, a kid would ruin your life. but then again, could your life get any worse than it was right now?
“p-please jennie, please dont. you know i can't afford an abortion, please jennie, please don't.” you pleaded, you didn't even have insurance. jennie was the only reason you were even able to have a place to stay.
“baby, even if you somehow had the money for it i would never allow you to get an abortion.” you could only cry out your frustrations, you were ruined, your life was over.
“f-fuck here it c-comes!” jennie moaned out her voice increasing in pitch as her warm semen flooded your cunt.
you couldn't help but let yourself unravel as well, the feeling of her warm load in you sending you over the edge along with her. you felt jennies hand caressing your stomach as she smiled into your shoulder. “I can't wait for you to be my cute little pregnant housewife.” your body laid flat on the bed when jennie let go of your hips, your tears soaking the pillow.
this was your life now.

atla live action thoughts: season one review
first things first: anyone who says the Movie That Does Not Exist is better than the live action is straight-up lying. the shymalan film fails on the criteria of even being a decent movie, let alone an adaptation. the netflix series, for all its problems, is at least an enjoyable watch with great effects, music and (mostly) appropriate casting. there's absolutely nothing to compare here - the netflix version clears easily.
now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's delve into the series, starting with the positives.
the good:
visuals and cinematography. they really did a great job of making it feel like a fantasy universe you wanted to be in & i love how vibrant the saturation and colour grading was. it made the world feel so much more dynamic and alive instead of the same flat, boring dullness that so many movies and shows have these days. sometimes i didn't even mind that i was being fed obvious exposition because at least they were giving me something pretty to look at lmao
effects and action. the bending was surprisingly good for the most part, and they did a good job of making the elements feel unique through the stunt choreography and the actors' movements. i'm immensely thankful they didn't try to skimp on budget by merely cutting away from fight scenes or showing us as little as possible. almost all the action sequences were fast-paced and engaging, and i was never bored watching them
acting. the main four were all great, but gordon cormier and dallas liu have to be the standouts for me. gordon brings such an earnest, innocent sweetness to aang that you can't help but like him, and dallas plays all of zuko's facets perfectly: the angst, the explosive anger, the bratty snark, and especially the deep-rooted pain that characterizes so many of zuko's actions in book 1. the range he has, especially when flashing from younger to older zuko, was insane. special shoutout to maria zhang and sebastian amoruso as suki and jet respectively, because they killed it
music. leaves from the vine instrumental had me tearbending and i love how they kept the iconic avatar theme while making it a little darker for this iteration of the story. in general, the soundtrack felt very true to the animation while still being a fresh spin on it
zuko and iroh's relationship and expanding on zuko's crew. i think the fandom universally agrees that lu ten's funeral and zuko's crew being the 41st division were the best changes in the series, so i'm not going to talk about it further other than to say that these scenes show me what the show can be, and that's why i'm not giving up on it
the bad:
characterization. almost all the main characters are missing the little nuances that made them so great in the original, but the greatest casualty is katara. i hate that they took away so much of her rage, and gave many of her traits and struggles to sokka. i don't think this is a problem solely with the writing though, because certain lines do feel like things animated katara would say, but the directing and line delivery don't have the same punch that made her so fierce in the original. this is an easily fixed issue though, so i hope they take the criticism and let my girl be angry and fuck shit up next season
exposition. this was primarily a problem in depicting aang's personality and the relationship between the gaang, because a) why are you TELLING me that aang is mischievous and fun-loving instead of just showing me and b) the gaang do NOT feel like close friends, mostly because they spend so much time apart in every episode that they have little screentime to actually bond and develop intimacy.
lack of focus on the intricacies of bending. for a show whose tagline is "master your element" the characters spend very little time actually... mastering their element. zuko is never shown to struggle with firebending (which is going to have ramifications when it comes to developing his relationship with azula), and neither aang nor katara ever learn waterbending from a master throughout the the entire show. i'm pretty sure aang never willingly waterbends ONCE in the entire eight episodes, discounting the avatar state and koizilla. bending isn't just cool martial arts, it's closely linked to the philosophies and spirituality of each nation, and i wish that had been explored more.
pacing. they really needed to do a better job of conveying that time passed between episodes because an 8-episode season is just going to FEEL shorter than a 20-episode one. the original animation felt as though they'd truly been on a long journey before arriving at the north, but here it feels like the entire show happened in the span of a fortnight or so because each episode seemed to pick up right after the previous. they needed to have more downtime within episodes instead of just rushing from plot beat to plot beat because it made everything feel a lot more rushed. give the characters and story time to breathe.
final rating: 7/10.
overall, i would describe the live action as a better version of the percy jackson movies - not an accurate or perfect adaptation, but a decent story that's very fun to watch. but what really makes me root for this show to get a season 2 is that it has a lot of potential and more importantly, a lot of heart. it's evident that the people who worked on it do genuinely love and respect the original series, and it shows onscreen.
regardless of anything else, this show created opportunities for so many asian and indigenous actors, writers and creators to tell the kinds of stories and play the kinds of roles they don't usually get, and that's something worth supporting. if they take the criticism from this season and improve, i believe they really do have something special on their hands which - although it might not be the original we all know and love - could still be a story to be proud of.

Pizza & PJs | Robby Keene x Chubby!Reader
Fem!Reader ○ Fluff blurb
Request: robby keene ask can u do robby fluff where he has a rich feminine clean girl girlfriend who lives in the valley and he stays over at her house for the first time they have a cute little sleepover. no smut please im not comfy w that.
Tumblr media
To put it lightly, Robby was worried about the night ahead of him. It was nothing new to him, staying at someone's house but this time was different. Whereas he was just looking for a warm place to stay the night before, his girlfriend had invited him over for a sleepover this time. He found himself in front of her lush, pretty house.
It was a big house, the home she grew up in - she still stayed at home for school. It stood over him, tall and large. It was intimidating, a little more than it ought to be in his opinion. It was just a mansion, no big deal. But it was Reader's mansion, and he'd been asked to stay the night...
He thought of a million reasons why he, Kobby Keene, didn't belong there. He shouldn't be there at all - her parents weren't home, it was too nice of a place for him, among a million other things - and yet there he was. So he rang the doorbell and waited.
It didn't take long for Reader to open the door. When she did, she threw it open and hugged Robby with open arms. He caught her and accepted her hug, smiling to himself because it was hard not to smile with her close to him. She was like sunshine, the bright happiness in his life. She made his days better just by existing. Holding her soft, curvy body to him made everything seem like it was going to be okay.
She kissed his cheek and brought him inside. "I'm so glad you could make it. I hate being home alone."
He took a look around her grand entryway, mouth slightly agape. "It was no problem. I love spending time with you."
She giggled. "So I was thinking that we change into our pajamas and order pizza. Is that alright?"
"I love pizza," he told her, smiling wide. She just looked so excited to see him and to have a sleepover. It was a little contagious. "Where should I get changed?"
"Oh, there's a bathroom right in this hallway. First door on the right."
He nodded and followed her directions. He expected a little bathroom, but when he turned on the light he found that it was almost as big as a small bedroom. It stood as a reminder of how differently they grew up, but he tried not to think about it. However, he did often think that Reader was way out of his league. After all, she grew up like a princess and he was a peasant.
She was finishing up the pizza order when he walked out. He was in nothing more than a tee shirt and sweatpants, nothing too special, and she had yet to get into her pajamas. When she put the order through, she skipped over to him and hugged his arm. "Let's go upstairs. I have chips and candy and popcorn. Anything you want. And we can pick out a movie to watch. We have all the streaming services, so just about everything is on the table."
"Cool," he said.
So Reader showed him to the theater room and gave him the remote to choose a movie, and then she scurried upstairs to get into her pajamas. Robby stared at the screen for about a minute before clicking on Netflix because it was the safest bet in his opinion; in his mind at least, among the plethora of streaming services her family had. He went through different movies, mostly flicking the options until Reader returned.
When she did, she was wearing a cute, matching two-piece set of pajamas. They were her favorite color with accent trim, nothing too over the top. It was just a pair of shorts and a shirt, but not too showy; it still showed off her curves but in a subtle way. She looked cute.
"Find something yet?" she asked as she sat beside him. She reached for the bowl of chips on the table and hugged it close, sitting close to him.
He smiled sweetly. "Not yet."
"What are you in the mood for?"
"I don't know."
She giggled and it made him laugh. It eased the tension in his chest and he felt better. They eased into each other and he put an arm around her. She cuddled into him and they looked for a movie to watch, making jokes about certain ones that popped up or going over the pros and cons of certain ones.
Then the doorbell rang and she sat up. "The pizzas here."
"I can get it," he told her gently.
He got up and she pulled a throw blanket over her legs. She smiled up at him. "Hurry back," she giggled. "I'm so hungry for pizza!"
He laughed and walked to the front door to get the pizza. It was left on the doorstep, so he grabbed the two boxes and brought them back to her. He smiled at her as he walked in. She clapped her hands and giggled.
"I found a movie," she said.
He looked up after setting the pizza down and saw one of her favorites queued up. "I didn't expect anything less."
He sat himself down beside her again and she scooted up to him so they were sitting hip to hip. He flipped open the boxes and saw she'd ordered her favorite pizza and got him a regular pepperoni. He grabbed a slice as Reader started the movie and they happily indulged themselves.
Soon enough, they were cuddled up on the couch with a bag of candy, some pizza, and each other. She laid her head on his chest as they watched the movie, a smile on her face, and everything Robby was worried about before washed away because it didn't matter. All that mattered was what they had there and now, sitting in their pajamas with her in his arms.

I am curious for your perspective on the way the OF creators are interacting with fans and have even admitted to editing the show based on fan reactions. It strikes me as an unusual level of interaction and capitulation, though of course TV is a live medium that is nearly always responsive to reactions to some extent. My preference is for a lot less of this kind of thing, but I know you have experience with direct interaction with media creators and have found it enhances your experience sometimes. What do you make of how these dynamics are showing up in OF and the effect it’s having on the show?
TV and Critic Background
So, I am actually the worst person to talk to if you think the creators should be quiet about their work, because I really enjoy talking to directors, producers, actors, cinematographers, and especially editors about their work. I often go to film festivals just to talk to the creators about their processes.
I've also been in the TV space a really long time, and I am used to this kind of behavior. I don't think a lot of folks who are in BL are used to being in the process of TV itself, and I think a lot of people have let the Netflix binge model inform the way they view TV. TV is not like movies. When you get a movie, you are seeing the end product of filming, editing, test screenings, re-edits, etc. TV is usually only an episode or two ahead of the viewers.
It's extremely normal for a show to respond to feedback when characters test well. The 100 did this with Jasper. He was supposed to die in the pilot when that spear entered his chest, but he tested well with audiences so they revived him.
Fun Fact: This is why Kiseki: Dear to Me didn't just move their release schedule up when episode 8 was leaked early. They probably weren't finished assembling episode 9.
I followed Sense8 through its entire development process all the way from rumors and then J. Michael Stracynski's posts about it, to the things Lana and Lily said about it, to the commentary from the cast.
I have a special hatred for Rick Behrman over Star Trek.
I absolutely hate Russel T. Davies because of Cucumber.
I bailed on Supernatural because of the way the writers condescended to us at comicon after killing Kevin.
I know some fans are upset about the idea that scenes they wanted to see got cut, but I was there for Noah Galvin opening his fucking mouth to talk shit about other actors at ABC who were playing beloved gay characters and that subsequently getting The Real O'Neals canceled. The show had a very short second season and I feel forever salty about that.
What does this mean for Jojo and Ninew and Den?
I actually think Jojo, Den, and Ninew are fine. I don't think they usually poopoo on valid reads from what I've seen, and mostly they're having fun with the fans, too. I just don't think people are used to the creators being so honest about how feedback affects the editing process.
I think this is the first time we've had a big show in a while where the creator was fairly active on socials about the show. Aof and Au are usually pretty quiet when their shows are airing, and only give small tidbits while they show is airing. Jojo is silly and likes to play with fans. Den is feisty and has a gay agenda to pursue.
Truly, I don't think Jojo and friends are that bad about anything with this show, because they're mostly just laughing and stating things that are obvious to people who pay attention to how the sausage is made.
Shipping
That being said, the biggest struggle OF is having is shipping. The FK girlies are so loud and their heavy breathing has likely influenced the way Jojo and friends decided to write Ray. The FB girlies are so into them that it's made Jojo and them dial back some of their Top content because the audience hates him so much. Only Boston and Nick feel like they've made it through the shipping gamut intact because Neo and Mark aren't bringing a bunch of preexisting shippers to the table.
Coming off of episode 10, you can see this plainly with the nasty4nasty dynamic with Boston and Nick. The emotional core of their dynamic feels true, even down to the way their moments in the store mirror their first interactions again. Boston came in for service about his phone and intentionally showed Nick something on it.
I don't think Jojo has ever had to work with multiple acting pairs that were big branded pairs prior to this, and this is only his second time really dealing with that. With Never Let Me Go, Pond and Phuwin weren't that big yet, and he wasn't threatening their ship with anything complicated. OF is challenging for people who just watch BL as fap material and have to deal with their faves not being easy people to parse.
As usual, we go back to that post that goes around all the time, thought I think the OP deleted it:

you’re so sweet. thank you so much!! i’ve watched love in the air. i know boss but i didn’t know his partners name. i’ve also watched:
dead friend forever (it was so fun; tan was right and he should’ve been able to kill all of em. except my sweet sunshine bby white who didn’t deserve anything bad to happen to him ever)
two worlds (loved it)
cutie pie 1&2 (eh),
naughty babe (loved but i think i love the pairing),
not me (chefs kiss),
kinnporsche (the volume in which i screamed cousin fuckers and then sung sweet home alabama, 10/10 would recommend to a friend),
the sign (so ridiculous but like in a great fun way; i like police procedurals and i like fantasy)
only friends (i wish i had a toxic dramatic friend group :/),
between us (that jaw thing mr blond did was oddly attractive; can’t wait to see the pair in the vampire show!),
last twilight (my heart ached and baked and was made into a cake. that means i loved it),
kiseki: dear to me (ai di owns my heart forever; i like his big puppy chen yi too. i couldn’t get into the main pairing tbh),
together with me 1&2 (it was okay)
love in translation (cuuute)
do you have any more recs???
First of all can, this list is immaculate (bar cutie pie, did not vibe with that one bit)
Secondly, I see you with your insane taste in ships. Maxnat from Two Worlds/Naughty Babe? This is top tier shit. I found Naughty Babe awful and mostly unwatchable (I'm not domundi's- the company who produced naughty babe and cutie pie- biggest fan) but MAXNAT??? That pairing have me wrapped round their fingers. Especially Max. Goddamn.
Thirdly, did you like love in the air? Thoughts on the second half of the show in particular? Because the other main couple (fort and peat) are my precious fucking baby angels and I would die for them. And if you liked them then my first recommedation is the currently airing Love Sea the series, because they're tearing me limb from limb. Every week they do something that thrills, excites, and terrifies me all in equal standing.
In terms of other recs, I can definitely give you a few I enjoyed, because your list is very good already and I'm seeing that we have quite similar taste.
I want to throw the show Manner of Death at you. You've seen Together With Me, and if you liked our boys Max and Tul and managed to wade your way through that show plus it's sequel, based on their chemistry alone, then Manner Of Death will be refeshing change for you. Because their chemistry is even better and the story line actually has a very clever and exciting narrative. Plus, its a lot more mature than your average highschool drama bl.
Tale of 1000 Stars is another show I really enjoyed. Its bl pairing is Earth and Mix, they have fantastic chemistry and the show has a really interesting plot that kept me hooked. It's a bit more typical thai bl in certain aspects, and the intimate nc scenes are next to none, but their relationship is one I was hooked on and I enjoyed the story a lot.
I have also enjoyed: 4 Minutes is only one episode in, but I can already tell it's going to be a favourite, which says a lot. But I am also very biased towards the lead male, Bible Wichapas aka Vegas from Kinnporsche. Man Suang is a movie, not series, but its on Netflix and its Mileapo from Kinnporsche. It's historical, gritty, heart-hitting, and just generally very fucking well produced. Moonlight Chicken (the side couple had me hooked immediately) Ingredients (cute af mini series with a Jeff Satur-Kim from KP) My Stand-In (I endjoyed it for what it was, it was a bit ridiculous) Vice-Versa (If you liked JimmySea you'll probably enjoy this) Bad Buddy (Great chemistry between the main characters) And a Taiwanese bl I liked was: History 3: Trapped.
(Your kinnporsche review is EVERYTHING. No notes.
The Mr Blonde jaw thing had me chuckling. I too, very much enjoyed the jaw thing. Hope the vampire show is directed well. Bounprem deserve it.
Tan absolutely should have slain them all. Apart from bb White. Agreed. Wholeheartedly.
Ai Di x Chen Yi were the only reason I was watching that show. For real.
Last Twilight was fantastic. I just didn't vibe with the ending. If it had ended on that rock cliff? Perfection. Stunning. Show-stopping.)
I hope you enjoy some of these! Sorry this got SO LONG.

The Movie - The Bad Parts
Based on discussions with @emsylcatac earlier today, let's talk about Miraculous Ladybug & Chat Noir - The Movie (also known as Miraculous Awakening), and specifically what sucks about it. I want to clarify that this post is meant to be unfair on purpose. It's all about complaining because complaining is fun! Overall I think the movie was perfectly fine, I had fun and I recommend watching it on a big screen because it is really pretty. This post is full of spoilers, and I'll put it in the queue for the 29th so people who watch on Netflix can see it then.
Let's get to it. There are a number of different directions from which you can criticise the movie. Too many fart jokes. Too many Volkswagen cars. Not enough metro trains. Uninspired songs. I'd like to pull it back a step, though, and ask fundamentally: What was the movie trying to do, you know, as a story? Because I don't think it knows.
About something
The movie has set itself a fairly difficult task, trying to fit a monster-of-the-week show into a single cohesive narrative. This isn't impossible, other superhero movies from Marvel and sometimes Sony and even the odd DC one do that all the time. They do that by finding a core story to tell about the people involved. Tony Stark goes from war profiteer to taking responsibility. Shang-Chi fled his father and must now face him. Jessica Jones faces her trauma. Kamala Khan must figure out who she wants to become and what it means to be a hero. Hawkeye must shoot an arrow out of a bow. Stuff like that.
As a show, Miraculous Ladybug doesn't really have that. Marinette isn't standing on the wrong side of a central dramatic argument and must learn to find and believe the correct answer. Her only real problem is that she isn't kissing Adrien right now. Similar things go for Adrien, who has plot attached to him, but not really any arc beyond going from not kissing Marinette to kissing Marinette. And that's perfectly fine for a show like that, there are plenty of arcs for each individual episode. And sometimes you don't even need that and can just save yourself with twenty minutes of being fun.
The movie is exactly like the show in this regard, and in my opinion, that's a mistake. Marinette is clumsy and afraid of being awesome, but that is just basic hero's journey stuff, that isn't a real character arc. Adrien doesn't have an arc at all. So really, there is nothing here, no theme, no arc. Stuff just happens. The stuff that happens is very adorable in my opinion, but most of it doesn't mean anything.
And really, that seems to be the main point of the movie: Have adorable stuff happen. There are a lot of great trailer moments, but then if you see how they fit together in the movie, well, they mostly don't. There are some cute Adrinette scenes, but they are just here to be cute, they don't actually matter. There's some excellent Ladynoir banter, but it doesn't actually change anything or tell us anything about the characters, it's just here.
The movie certainly pretends that there's an arc here. Marinette gets an "I want" song that tells us she's unhappy about being clumsy, and she'd like to design clothes. We have a bit of a hero's journey. We have a tiny bit of a conflict when Chat Noir is in love with Ladybug, but she can't be in love with him because she's in love with Adrien, and he reacts poorly to that (oh god, are we going to get Adrien discourse again? Please, anything but that!). We defeat the villain, and Marinette learns the "Miraculous Ladybug" healing power. It feels like an arc, but the things don't connect to each other in any thematic way.
And sure, the movie pretends there is a theme here, which is "we're stronger together". Except being together is not really that relevant for the conclusion, and besides, nobody ever said they weren't stronger together.
Weirdly enough, there is one character who gets an arc, which is Gabriel, who realises his mistakes when he sees that Chat Noir is his son. That's nice but comes a bit out of nowhere. And the way Adrien forgives him that easily also feels unearned to me. If you go strictly by which character learned the most and changed the most, you could technically argue that this is Gabriel's story more than anyone, which is just silly.
So it all feels a bit lifeless. Many subplots start and stop at random, and many scenes in between the trailer moments feel too short and lifeless.
The Changes
The other thing that feels weird is all the ways that the lore was changed. I'm totally okay with changing the lore to fit into the movie, but so many of the choices just feel less interesting.
Most crucially, when Marinette falls in love with Adrien in the show, it's the culmination of a mini-arc in which she was wrong about him, and he was bad at social interaction, which they resolve with a ritual umbrella exchange. That is really meaningful. In the movie, Marinette falls in love with Adrien because he's handsome and he asks her if she's alright after she drops some books. That's less interesting.
A smaller detail, but in my opinion even more important, are the Akuma villains. There's no doubt that the gargoyle looks great… but it's a random person who we don't know. We certainly didn't know Ivan that well at the end of season 1 either, but we had at least some connection to him. Most importantly, Marinette had a connection to him, and so her fear for this guy she knows felt real and important. That's gone here. Same for the other villains. They're all just some guys Hawkmoth found somewhere. They don't matter to us or to the heroes, they're just around. In their fight for great visuals, they made the story less interesting.
There are plenty of other examples where the show weirdly forgoes personal moments. The Adrinette montage, for example, is sweet, but it passes by way too quickly. And it's not like the movie didn't have the time, I mean, have you seen these fart jokes?
When it comes to the superhero fights, I am mostly stumped. The movie invented completely new rules, but these rules are for the most part not better or worse, just different. It feels like they feared they'd infringe someone's copyright, but doesn't Zag own the copyright? I think the lack of insane plans prompted by a lucky charm was a bit sad, but I wouldn't call it a dealbreaker.
The Music
I think the songs were alright, I'm just mentioning them here because I know others hated them. My main issue with them is that they felt so unmotivated. It felt like someone had said, "this is where a Disney movie would have a song, so we'll put one here as well".
The Ending
Cutting there? Come on. Not gonna lie, that part got a big groan at my cinema.
The Nachos
Mine didn't taste that great.
In Conclusion
I really should have written this Sunday or Saturday when my memory was still fresh. But I think you get the gist of it. It was a fun experience, but I think it squandered most of its opportunities. There were fun moments, but the connection between them wasn't really there. Most importantly, the movie just didn't really have any story to tell other than "that Ladybug one". But while that is a fine story to have as the premise of a show, it doesn't really work well for a single movie.

Hiii ! Here some film ask : 1, 2, 7, 9, 15, 16
Merci beaucoup our tous tes questions, chèrie! :D 🎬
What’s the most depressing movie you’ve ever watched? Easy: Tyrannosaur (2011, directed by Paddy Considine)
2. What’s the most disturbing movie you’ve ever watched? Ooof, okay that's harder because I've some things that do definitely squick me out. For once I saw El perro andaluz way to early at the age of 11, and I still can't forget the moon-eye scene (I don't recommend looking this up, and if so with massive gore warning.) Given that I might not even have watched the most transformative horror movies yet, I think the movie making me feel the most squeamish was Happiness (1998, dir. Todd Solonoz) - which is not even a horror movie. But psychologically thrilling nonetheless. :D
7. A film you wish had a sequel? Phew, another taxing question. Mostly I like movies which manage to economically tell a story within their runtime. Unless their part of a series or saga. And even with these I think they should contain a logical tale within themselves. That's good story telling, knowing exactly how to tell everything properly. (Also sequels often are not... good - mostly.) Alright, enough rambling, if there was a movie I feel like wanting "more of this, please!", Nice guys (2016, dir. Shane Black) could've been such a fun buddy private eye dramedy series.
9. The most aesthetically pleasing movie you’ve ever watched? Uuuh, so many to choose from. I'm general I really love good photography and landscape shots, so even weaker Tyler Sheridan titles, and some of Scorsese's newer movies strike some aesthetical chords in me. There will be blood is generally a good movie (it has Pual Dano it it, yay!), some landscape shots are still burned into the back of my mind. The photography and background design was perhaps the only things that saved Maquia (2018, dir. Okada Maria) for me. Sorry to be such a weeb on main but The Adolescence of Utena (1999, dir. Ikuhara Kunihiko) is just absolutely fantastic visual direction, framing, colour symbolism, geometrical design, direction, theme, and animation skills are at their absolute peak in this movie. But as we are on the topic of anime, every Yen spend on Akira was worth the visual result. Tarsem Singh always creates gorgeous images, the costuming as story telling, the bright colours, the sets, an absolute treat. Edit: How did I forget about Loving Vincent (2027, directed by Hugh Welchman and Dorota Kobiela)?! One movie which doesn't have the most outstanding editing, or colours but still stands out because of the sheer absurdity of set design was Lucky number Slevin (2006, dir. Paul MacGuigan). There is an entire production process for movies. Did none say anything against these terrible wallpapers?! Their existence in the movie was deliberate but how did this decision come to be. I remain fascinated. (By the way the movie is fun, Lucy Liu is in it, yay!) Also, I am a simple woman: If a movie lives on delicious looking cooking scenes, I am all in!
15. A film everyone loves but you hate? Phew... I think for me there is this sense when a movie gets a lot of general hype how "great!", "fantastic!", and "genius!" it supposedly is, and then I watch it, and... it is well made. It s a good movie. In the sense that the crew knew their craft: Proper story telling, good build-up, good lighting, good sound, good costume, good acting. Over all a good work. In times of scraping for the bare minimum of course it's exciting to see a well put together work, and not Netflix slob to fill the screen and kill time. In comparison to another Rayn Reynolds Netflix paycheck work, Boy kills world looks like pure cinema. :/ Still, there is this weird sense of annoyance when a movie is good but no Park Chan Wook, and the fan adjectives are larger than the work itself. But the movie I really don't get the hype for is Mean Girls. Probably I was too old when I watched it, by virtue of being a non-US-citizen, the high school scenario doesn't make sense either. However the only reason I understood why people liked it was nostalgia ("it's so quotable" girl, even Morbious got quoted, the movie is still garbage). It is racist (when isn't Tina Fey), and lacked the actual depth, and larger insight why girls terrorize each other in school than the much better, much more thought through Heathers had. Don't get me wrong, everyone who likes it shall enjoy themsleves, it just a movie I absolutely do not get (if there're better works about such a topic in comparison as well)...
Edit: Oh wait, apparently, I depsise this movie so much I banned it from my conciousness: Seven (1995, dir. David Fincher). A dear friend of mine explained to me carefully how good the editing was. She is right. Yes Fincher is a good director but the material he directs is so often more about him despising other human beings - and the script of Seven is gross and gory for the sole purpose of making an edgelord edgy point how hopeless and bad people are, man. It's nowhere as deep as it wants to be. Given that I've watched other stuff of his, and how all his villains are put in bright colours, I am convinced Fincher must've been traumatized by his mother getting hit by a paint pot. I don't know how else to explain this drap colour grading. This is a movie I can barely be objective about anything.
16. A film you love and everybody hates? A cure for Wellness (2016, dir. Gore Verbinski). I don't know if it's exactly hated but it received poor reviews, and bombed at the box office. Still, I'd fun.

So I'm seeing quite a bit of seething outrage in the tag and maybe I'm just adding fuel to the fire here but... the Netflix adaption was pretty good? It's not perfect, the modern storyline in the first two episodes are quite bad in parts (thanks a lot, Auggie 🙄). Some of the dialogue is also weird and clunky in the first two episodes. But it really, genuinely picks up the pace afterward. First and foremost, the visuals are beautiful. I like how the show expanded on the characters in modern times, adore the friendship between the Oxford Five, and I'm in delulu about Jin's and Will's ending (something something ships in the night 😭). Even Auggie has her moments in later episodes, and I find myself pretty satisfied with the end of her arc. The transition from page to screen is mostly effective, and I appreciate that they can just let the visual storytelling do the talking instead of just a lot of declarative statements for character introduction in the books, that could (at least to me) get tedious at times.
I find it to be one of the adaptions where the changes make sense. The diverse cast makes sense. The book takes place in China but it's a story about humanity. Plus you already have your all-Chinese adaptation (a few times as well). Widening the geographic scope to get a new perspective on the story is a pretty valid reason for an adaption. Plus, transnational adaptions happen All. The. Time. Taking shows and movies from other countries and putting your own national take on it is a pretty popular practice. China definitely does it.
The Netflix show has these intimate, quiet moments that are very compelling, and the besutiful music helps further highlight that. On the other hand, I can see where the white-washing argument from some of y'all came from. While I don't necessarily agree with it, I think it's a reductive and just not very accurate description for this show in particular, there are however certain scenes that I would dub Joseph Campbell-infected, which seems more fair and specific to me.
Something that's more baffling to me is the disagreement over Ye Wenjie's portrayal in the show. That she's a bitter, mental old lady in comparison to her counterpart in the book. Did we read the same book??? What did I miss? How was she not a bitter, mental old lady in the book? It's the whole point of her character. That she was a deeply lonely, traumatised woman whose repressed anger and resentment were indistinguishable with intellectualism and who mistook her cynicism for objectivity. Of course she was mental. She was in the midst of a silent breakdown, for otherwise an emotionally functional person would not have made the choice she did and DOOMED THE ENTIRE HUMANRACE TO EXTINCTION. Also her confession to Shi Qiang in the book? Where she believed that the Trisolaran would save humanity based solely on the fact that they are more technologically advanced? That was bonkers. She echoed the sentiment of many real people from her generation, people of invaded countries who look upon the historical colonialism fondly or as a desired solution, because the system in power has failed them. I know actual people like that in my life. They are my loved ones, and they enforce such beliefs on their children, us, like how Wenjie condemned her belief upon the rest of humanity. It's a complex, thorny legacy to carry, and it is insane that we have to carry it. Wenjie is a genius, she's a grieving, empathetic woman who could not access her emotions in a healthy way because she was fucked over in 100 different directions, AND she is an old, bitter, intergalactic war criminal whose mental state is definitely in jeorpady. She is all these things, and both the actresses in the Netflix show did a phenomenal job of portraying every facet of her character.

Listening to your recent IALS reading, it got me thinking that. Would you produce your own show if Netflix approached you to do IALS or lbaf or fmf or tlnd?
I mean. Of course your own books as well. But. Imagine a show based on a fanfic! That’s be genius coz there’s a guaranteed fan base attached to it. Although fanfic readers are hard to please hehe.
This is such a funny question to me because growing up I never wanted to be a novelist, but a screenwriter.
The first stories I wrote (in my head lol) were for movies. In school, I mostly wrote and directed plays because I love visual media and I like being able to play with light and sound and movement so much.
Even now, if I could choose, I would pick screenwriter. I would 100% write a movie or a TV show than a book because I think I'd be better at it.
So, of course, I'd love to see one of my fanfics/books turned into a show. The ultimate dream tbh.
PS - There are multiple movies that have origins in fanfiction such as After or Light as a Feather etc :)

Have you watched the one piece live action? There the show runners were brave enough to show the 1-2 episodes to the fans first and the whole season to the critics. Although the marketing tactics of Netflix is questionable, the show was made with love and care.
I felt gaslight with all this raving for Loki here and there especially on tumblr and Reddit. The reviews are making it like a masterpiece, raving Tom’s performance like it deserves an Emmy. The fact they only showed 1-4 episodes and that too critics speaks volumes.
I’m worried for the awards, Loki will steal one piece’s thunder. The cast deserves the love since they were HUMBLE ENOUGH TO THANK THE FANS IN ADVANCE . Plus they are relatively unknown too.
God only if the Loki’s finale is more than atrocious the secret invasion.
I have not watched the live action One Piece yet but I’ve heard mostly good things about it. It just goes to show the lesson that Disney/Marvel consistently fails to learn: good adaptations are born out of love and respect for the original source material. Contrast that with the Loki series, in which the writers literally said they wanted to “strip Loki of everything that makes him Loki.” Like… wtf is wrong with you??? People loved this character for a reason; why would you think we wanted to see him turned into a hollow, boring shell of himself? Also, as much as it pains me to say this because I genuinely think Tom Hiddleston is a great actor and I know he’s capable of better work, his performance in the Loki series is most definitely NOT award-worthy imo. It’s a jumbled mess of cartoonish over-acting that’s honestly painful to sit through. Like I remember watching the scene where Alligator Loki bites President Loki’s hand off and just feeling embarrassed for Tom at how cringe the whole thing was. (I haven’t seen S2 nor do I have any plans to but I’d imagine his performance is more or less the same as S1.) To be fair, though, the dialogue is so poorly written that I think anyone would have a hard time making it sound natural. Also, we’ve seen him give truly great performances as Loki in his past movies so I don’t blame him for it; I blame the direction.

netflix's horrible reputation re: wlw characters & relationships has me terrified about TOG 2, tbh. i truly believe we'll see one of these 2 options:
andromaquynh is canonically established as having a romantic past - because of this, netflix essentially "buries" it with next to zero promo (thus guaranteeing that it flops) and blames it on the diversity of the cast/director
OR
andromaquynh ISN'T canonically established as romantic in any way; Uma's character was invented to take focus away from andy and quynh's tense dynamic and history. when netflix does finally promote the film (and it still won't be anywhere near close to the campaign they did for Extraction 2), they'll focus on Uma and Charlize almost exclusively. sapphic fans who are rightfully angry about the erasure of andy/quynh are condescendingly told to "calm down" because it isn't a direct adaptation of the 2nd comic, and the focus of the entire film is the ramped-up action not romance.
i hope i'm wrong, but netflix is evil and predictable and i've seen all of this happen before.
Hey nonny,
I share the exact same feelings. On the one hand Netflix is the only streaming services i trust with lgbtq representation, on the other hand I have huge trust issues when I see how they treat LGBTQ people in their major shows.
TOG 2 has a lack of promo and updates anyway, for.... unknown reasons? (If somebody knows more about the complete radio silence, please let me know). I actually think Andys queer love story will be in there, but downplayed, shown only shortly and not mentioned in the promo at all. So I am mostly agreeing on your second point. The promo for Extraction 2 was HUGE, never saw something like that for a Netflix movie like that before, here in Germany. And Charlize is nearly equally famous but Netflix treats TOG like a second class human being. Which is honestly so weird?!
Imo they will drop TOG 2 without any promo, blame it on WGA and SAG Aftra and cancel the whole thing. For some reasons they were never really fond of TOG-movie anyway, and thats the perfect opportunity for them to get rid of it. I would just love to know WHY they can not stand TOG

My top 5 bird-themed movies because why not
Okay, you guys I'm very excited about Illumination's new movie "Migration for a ton of reasons, but the main reason is that I love ducks. I'm personally, as a Chicken Run fan, NOT excited about Chicken Run 2 because I feel like they're going the wrong direction with it. Getting a new director, firing most of the old voices actors, and then Netflix taking over the ownership? No thanks! I'll still give it a try though. Here are my top 5 favorite bird themed movies, and why
(Chicken Run, 2000) I love this movie mainly because of the message and the fact that it tackled some heavy subjects in a family friendly way. The humor is really well done, like most DreamWorks movies, and the voice acting is amazing! I don't recommend it for children as much, but I'd say the age rating to start watching, is maybe 10-12 or older? It's a bit dark but it's still a beautiful movie and there's a character that almost everyone can relate to!
(Storks, 2016) Okay, this one is more for children and family, but has a few subtle jokes that mostly adults will understand,. I personally think it still has an amazing message about the lives of people come before objects and also that family isn't always birth given, adopting kids they're still family. And of course, the characters are very fun and adorable. Compared to most teen-young adult girls in animated movies, I really love Tulip's design. They don't make her too "sexy" but still make her look cute, she dresses plain, and she's a total goofball. I personally love seeing more female characters like that.
(Rio, 2011) You guys know this one's a cult classic! My mom and I loved this one a lot and were sad when Disney shut down BlueSky Studios. The movie is still incredibly underrated, although it has a strong fanbase of 2000s-early2010's kids! The music in the movie is incredible, the visuals and scenery is gorgeous, and it actually makes you want to travel to Rio! I feel like they tried to show the culture in the best way they could, even though I'm not an expert, they did it in sort of a subtle way, but still enough that it makes you admire it!
(Duck Duck Goose, 2018) This is an adorable and underrated movie for the family, even though the villain may be a bit scary at times! I love how it focuses mostly on the animals, I love when movies focus mostly on the animals to the point that you forget the humans are there, but they still do show humans sometimes. The humans don't have like, speaking lines or anything. Also, the characters are adorable! Peng's character really reminds me of Rocky from Chicken Run, but a little more childish and care free. A better comparison to Peng would be Otis from Barnyard, at first he acts like he wants to party all the time, but then learns to become a man by the end of the movie. The ducklings, Chi and Chao, are so adorable! Chi's a very loving and helpful big sister, and she's voiced by Zendaya! Also, Stephen Fry voices one of the crane brothers (or maybe they're gay cranes? I have no idea...). The voice acting and characters are so amazing in this movie, and the scenery is also so gorgeous! The humor is also on point, and you'll love the little squirrel character! I also think this movie is good for maybe 6 and up, depending on how used to movies the kid is. My 6 year old self didn't have that kind of attention span yet but some kids are different. Anyway, I just consider it a good movie for the whole family!
(Ploey you Never Fly Alone, 2018) Okay, this one can be a bit sad but also has a pretty good story. I'm personally not too comfortable with kids having love interests in movies/shows, like kids that are younger than teenage. Because they're birds and have no confirmed age, you can feel however you want about the Ploey and Ploveria relationship. I'm only uncomfortable about it because they both sound young and it wasn't much time after Ploey hatched from an egg when they met, but again, they're birds. It's still a beautiful movie with fun characters and really talented voice acting! I put it at the bottom of the list because it's not one of my first choices, but I haven't seen it in a while. You may have different feelings about it. I think i recommend this movie more for 10 and up, it does have some emotional moments though. It's not really funny or anything either, so I don't recommend it for parties or family movie nights. If you love bird themed movies and have a friend who does, it's something nice that you can watch together when you're not busy.
I hope you like the movies I recommended, and let me know what you think in the comments! I love to chat!

— Animal Fics by allwaswell16 —
One Direction fics by me that include an animal that is important to the story in some way. I always think I'm done writing these, but...
—Louis/Harry—
🐒 Ace of Spades (E, 80k) : spider monkey
Living as a sheltered omega in a farming village has not prepared Harry for life aboard the most notorious pirate ship to sail the Atlantic.
Or Louis is a pirate, Harry is his captive, and no one is who they say they are.
🐕 Consequences (E, 78k) : dog
Two years ago Harry let his powerful family come between him and the love of his life, something he deeply regrets. Louis has tried to move on from their devastating break up. Sometimes, he even thinks he has. It only takes one moment to freeze them back in time.
An amnesia au
🐐 Until (E, 60k) : horses, a dog, and a weird goat
Rural Eagle County, Colorado wasn’t the type of place to find a famous musician or actor. At least not until songwriter Louis Tomlinson showed up with pop star Niall Horan to visit his uncle’s horse ranch, and they just happened to find themselves next door to a reclusive former movie star.
🦎 I Didn't Fall For You (You Fucking Tripped Me) (E, 20k) : monitor lizard
These days Louis tends to steer clear of dating alphas. He’s dated too many knotheads in his time, and he’s ready to just focus on school and his friends and his pet monitor lizard, of course.
Too bad the alpha next door won’t take a hint and stop using the worst pick up lines of all time on him. He’s really got to stop laughing with him--and talking to him and walking to class with him and letting him bring him coffee and tea and gifts for his lizard and watching Netflix together and...
🦜 That's How I Know (E, 19k) : African grey parrot
Louis Tomlinson has just landed his dream job, coaching soccer at Augustus University. When he moves into a new house near campus, he meets his very fit new neighbor, English professor Harry Styles. Although their first meeting leads to an instant mutual dislike, the more Harry gets to know Louis, the more he likes what he sees.
Or the one where Harry’s African grey parrot spills his dirty secrets to his very hot neighbor.
😽 Charity Ficlets (NR, 10k) : cat and niffler
Chapter 1: Shiny Objects: Louis isn't so sure about Professor Styles, but when he must save him from a loose niffler, things change between them.
Chapter 4: Grease Lightning: Louis' cat likes to give out his phone number.
🐬 Never Been Knotted (E, 9k) : aquarium animals
Harry doesn't mind that he presented as a beta. It mostly just makes his life easier and more convenient. There's just one small problem: he'd really like to be knotted.
🦀 The way you smile (E, 9k) : crab
Harry doesn’t need to go on holiday. Unfortunately, his mum and sister disagree, which is how he ends up alone on holiday in the Caribbean. Luckily, he's not alone for long.
🐈 Won't You Please Come Around (M, 5k) : cat
Harry has lived in London for a month, and so far the only friend he's made is his sister's cat, Mr. Whiskers. When the lock on the window breaks, Mr. Whiskers begins exploring his new neighbourhood a bit too thoroughly and brings back mementos of his escapes.
Or a Valentine's Day story where Harry has a really fit neighbour, and his cat is a thief.
😼 Do You See What I See (T, 2k) : cat sort of, have to read to find out
Harry may or may not be rescuing stray animals as an excuse to see the very hot local veterinarian.
Or an absurd pet fic inspired by She Is Beauty We Are World Class
🦓 White Stripes (E, 3k) : zoo animals
Harry’s roommate is gorgeous, kind, generous, and basically everything Harry has ever wanted in another alpha. The only problem is that he isn’t even sure that his alpha roommate is into other alphas. In an effort to finally get over him, he lets Niall set him up on a blind date.
🪳 Happy Valentine's Day, You Cockroach (E, 2k) : meerkats and cockroaches
Harry Styles, new director of the Milltown Zoo, has a great idea for a Valentine's Day themed fundraiser. For a donation, they'll name cockroaches after people's exes and then feed them to the meerkats on a live stream. He just didn't foresee how many cockroaches would end up with his name...
—Rare Pairs—
🐎 Need (E, 21k, Niall/Shawn Mendes) : horses, a dog, and a weird goat
Niall Horan loved his job. Who wouldn’t? He was the biggest pop star in the world, and he’d found his kindred spirit in songwriting and friendship, Louis Tomlinson. The sky was the limit now. He had the perfect place they could hide themselves away from the world and write his next album...his uncle’s horse ranch in Colorado. What he didn’t expect was the cowboy next door.
🐱 Next Door (NR, 2k, Louis/Rob Pattinson) : cat and a dog
When a stray cat starts coming round Louis' garden and bothering his dog, Louis and his best friend set out to capture it.
Or a famous/famous fic where Louis and Oli embarrass themselves in front of Batman.

GET  TO  KNOW  THE  MUN.
WHAT  MADE  YOU  PICK  UP  THE  MUSE  YOU  HAVE  ?   before may 2023, i had no idea who patrick bateman was. i had been on a break from tumblr since 2021 because of uni & other reasons, so i had been missing tumblr rp. i also felt, the year before, i was going through a villian arc myself lmao ( again, personal reasons). i had an urge to read american psycho when i was chilling on my bed one afternoon even though i never heard of it before. my ooc friend bought me the book for my birthday and well, here i am.
IS  THERE  ANYTHING  YOU  DON'T  LIKE  TO  WRITE  ?  apart from the inappropriate types of writing, i really hate writing unplotted starter calls because immediately my brain directs itself to first time meetings and i find those a bit tedious if it's repeated over a number of excessive times. that's my main point right now.
IS  THERE  ANYTHING  YOU  REALLY  ENJOY  WRITING  ?   i haven't got a chance to write it out properly yet but i really want to dig deep into his psychopathic frame of mind when he loses it. i think it gives me a chance as a writer to dive deep into a psychopath's mind. i am also really enjoying writing him in his family and his college verses atm. i think they are also a bit of a breather, considering he isn't too much of an ass until he starts his murders at college.
HOW  DO  YOU  COME  UP  WITH  YOUR  HEADCANONS  ?  inspirations and whenever he is in the mood to share with me. it's also key terms like family, choices etc that help me brew up some headcanons.
DO  YOU  WRITE  IN  SILENCE  OR  LISTEN  TO  MUSIC  ?  most of the time, it has to be in silence or if i am watching tv in the background, it has to be low. i get easily distracted if i'm listening to music, but if it is songs from the movie, then i do get inspired more to write, but i mostly write in silence.
DO  YOU  PLAN  YOUR  REPLIES  OR  WING  THEM  ?   pre-planned. winging in replies are rare because tbh he possesses me into do what he wants me to write, so he knows what he is going to say. he does have weird mood swings so if you think he has changed his mind about something or if he is suddenly being erractic, his planning and not mine.
DO  YOU  ENJOY  SHIPPING  ?   i do. with my other characters i have written in the past, i have adored shipping. tbh when i first created patrick's blog, i was going to rule out shipping because of the type of person he is but i knew that relationships with bateman are always going to be somewhat unbalanced, although not as extreme, but unbalanced. i decided to be like okay, open mind and no expectations but it seems to have worked out well.
WHAT'S  YOUR  ALIAS/NAME  ?   my name is lauren and you are absolutely free to use it. i love my name! i did go by an alias but i scrapped that and i have been using my real name.
AGE  ?   25
BIRTHDAY  ?  9th june
FAVORITE  COLOR  ?  always loved the colour purple / lilac and navy blue.
FAVORITE  SONG  ?   my favourite song ?? it varies. currently my favourite is cherri cherri lady by modern talking.
LAST  MOVIE  YOU  WATCHED  ?  society of the snow on netflix. buggered my mind but patrick enjoyed lmao.
LAST  SHOW  YOU  WATCHED  ?   literally finished hannibal series on netflix.
LAST  SONG  YOU  LISTENED  TO  ?   fire burning by sean kingston.
FAVORITE  SEASON  ?  summer
DO  YOU  HAVE  A  TUMBLR  BEST  FRIEND  ?   i can't rule one but i have many tumblr besties.

If the Slytherin quartet were immersed in Muggle culture. What things would each one like? Type music, literature, games, clothes?
As i'm asian and have limited knowledge on the british muggle culture, i'll answer it as best as i can😅
Rabastan
-plain polo shirts. Sensible pants. Expensive watches and sunglasses
-he would read paradise lost and Dante's divine comedy and find the humor in them.
-he would think muggle music is cool, but wouldn't like anything particular. in modern au he'd probably mention Imagine Dragons if you ask about his type of music, he's that basic.
Regulus
-he will love overshirt, jackets, dark (mostly black) coats.
-in modern au will cry while watching the lion king.
-He would, of course, be interested in reading anything from Arthur Conan Doyle. He would like Dostoevsky's books if someone introduced them to him.
- reggie and music. Guys, i don't think you understand, but reg's childhood music is just the kind that walburga likes: Tchaikovsky's Valse sentimentale. The freaking Mozart's Requiem. I'm not familiar with 70s songs, but he most likely will like songs with deep lyrics and i don't know.. intense songs really, because he's wired that way. In modern au he probably would have a love and hate relationship with arctic monkey's do i wanna know
Barty
-he would have two moods in clothing: popular rock band tshirts or cartoon tshirt. Leather jacket is also a favorite.
-in modern au, he'd watch netflix in maddy's profile and mess up her algorithm (intentionally, mind you. Because Maddy would only watch movies and series based on Bethany and Amanda's reccomondations and they're all boring. He wanted to help!)
-music like AC/DC, led zeppelin. Honestly just any epic song to play in the background while he's being awesome.
- dinosaurs are dragons. This conspiracy would be the only time he agrees with regulus.
- He probably would prefer something light like the LOTR and narnia. Fantasy books.
Evan
- turtleneck everything. Expensive everything. He's a brand baby.
- evan was robbed Taylor Swift in his time. He also listens to classical music, brahms mostly.
- doesn't like to read at all.
- in modern au would probably like superheroes themed movies.
That was it lol. If someone wants to educate me in british culture or just direct me to somewhere so i can learn about it, i'll appreciate it very much. For the greater good, guys.
