TerzOmega ~ Tooth-Rotting Fluff ~ Family Fic ~ Resurrection AU
2.1k
Ao3 Version
Omega is nervous about the looming birth of his and Terzo's first child.
Content Warning: pregnancy, mpreg (cis), references to birth, references to surgery
---
It was four in the morning, and Omega couldn’t sleep. He was more grateful than ever that Terzo was a heavy sleeper; he’d been tossing and turning all night. He’d kick himself if he’d kept his husband awake on the eve of such a big, stressful day.
Omega turned around to spoon against Terzo, his hand finding its way to Terzo’s gravid middle almost unconsciously. He stared off into the distance, eyes unfocused. The thoughts racing through his head of how drastically things were about to change for them were thrilling, but also terrifying. They had both been anxiously waiting for this moment for months. Decades, even, if they were to count all of the time that they’d wanted to have a family of their own, something that they had thought was impossible until very recently.
He felt movement under his hand and smiled fondly, his heart skipping a beat as he felt a powerful kick against his palm. Ah, he couldn’t believe he was finally getting to meet his baby girl today.
Terzo grumbled, beginning to stir, sleepily pushing Omega’s hand away. This was a struggle they’d had a lot over the last few months, with Omega instinctively wanting to protect and connect to his mate and their kit, and Terzo needing to sleep undisturbed. Their kit, like her father, was also a quintessence ghoul, able to sense Omega’s own quintessence. His touch always excited her, made her more active.
While it was true that Terzo was a heavy sleeper, Omega supposed it was hard not to wake up when you got kicked in the ribs in the middle of the night. This time, though, Omega clung on, moving his hand back to where it had been resting. He usually respected Terzo’s wishes, but this morning he was scared and in need of all of the reassurance he could get.
Thankfully, Terzo appeared to have fallen back asleep. His relief was short-lived, though, as the flurry of kicks soon started back up. Omega swore under his breath when Terzo rubbed at his eyes groggily, now well and truly awake. Terzo’s hand again found his, but this time took it in his own, squeezing tightly. With no small amount of effort, he rolled to his opposite side to face Omega. Even in the darkness, Omega could make out the exhaustion lining his handsome features.
“I’m nervous, tesoro. What if something… goes wrong?” Omega’s hand began rubbing slow circles on Terzo’s stomach, more to soothe himself than anyone else.
“Mm… Amore, what’s wrong?” Terzo asked, his voice raspy from sleep. He kissed the hand that’d been on his belly before allowing Omega to replace it. “Can’t sleep…? You’re going to need the rest, you know. You’re about to be a Daddy.” Terzo’s tone was light, almost teasing. Omega hummed in the affirmative.
“It is just a C-section, amore. A perfectly routine surgery. They do not even have to put me to sleep for it. Everything will be fine, I promise,” Terzo said with a yawn. He seemed calm, completely unbothered despite the procedure looming only a few short hours away. Omega fidgeted, unable to contain his nerves.
“You won’t lose us. You have my word,” Terzo promised him when their kiss broke. Omega swallowed his protests. He wanted to believe him. “It will be over before we know it, and we’ll finally have our little girl in our arms.” Terzo’s slow grin was contagious, made Omega’s heart flutter. After all of these years, they were finally, impossibly getting what they wanted more than anything. It felt surreal. Omega wondered when the reality would finally sink in.
“It’s not a routine delivery, though. This isn’t like a typical pregnancy. There had to be dark magic involved just to make it physically possible, and there’s so little record of it being successfully done in the past for us to go off of…” Omega couldn’t hide the worry in his voice. “Losing either of you would end me,” he added quietly, his eyes stinging. Terzo caressed Omega’s face, leaning in and stealing a tender kiss.
“Do you ever feel like all of this is a dream? Like it couldn’t possibly be happening?” Omega asked, voice sincere. Terzo’s smile softened, emotion shining in his eyes.
“How are you so calm about this?” Omega couldn’t help but ask, his stomach churning with nerves. Terzo nuzzled into Omega’s cheek and Omega breathed his scent in deeply, enjoying Terzo’s delicious pheromones while he still could. Who knew if they’d be able to pull this off again? They would certainly try, but it had taken so much work, so much luck. So many sacrifices…
“Sì,” Terzo’s mismatched gaze was penetrating, and he laid a hand over Omega’s, still on his belly. “I cannot believe we are finally starting a family. That we are getting the beautiful principessa we always talked about late at night, when we were sick with sorrow.” He sighed, closing his eyes.
“We have defied so many odds to get here.” Terzo reached up to touch the deep scars on his neck, fingertips dancing over the angry raised mark. “I have died for her once already. I would gladly do it again.” Omega’s heart sank like a stone.
“Don’t say that!” Omega’s voice broke as he pulled away from Terzo, agony written across his face. His hand moved to Terzo’s back, pulling their bodies together tightly. “I wouldn’t let anything happen to you. I’d go to the pit and pull you back myself.” Omega tucked Terzo’s head under his chin, holding him close. Terzo hummed, content.
They spent the rest of the early morning in each other’s arms, indulging in kisses and caresses like it was their last chance. Omega prayed to whatever would listen that it wouldn’t be. When the impending deadline could no longer be ignored, they reluctantly got up, Terzo supporting his aching back with both hands. They showered together, wanting to go into their stay in the infirmary feeling clean and fresh.
“And that is why I am not worried.”
“It feels so weird, being up this early and not making you breakfast,” Omega chuckled, knowing Terzo wasn’t allowed to eat before the delivery. Omega wasn’t eating either, wanting to show Terzo support and solidarity. They were in this together, after all. Terzo groaned, covering his mouth.
They arrived at the infirmary an hour before they were instructed to, Omega too antsy to sit around their quarters waiting any longer. The walk there was slow, but they made it hand in hand; Terzo had been struggling under the weight of their nearly fully developed ghoul kit for the last few weeks. Omega would have happily offered to carry him there, but he knew Terzo would never accept.
“Please, do not mention food, mio caro. I am feeling so sick this morning.”
As they made their way through the ministry halls, Terzo proudly held his head high, trying to ignore the stares of everyone who passed them. This had been going on since Terzo was showing enough to no longer be able to hide his bump. They had talked about it countless times, and Terzo made it clear that he was vehemently unashamed of his family. Omega knew it got to him, though, the open judgment and gawking wearing him thin. He could feel his mate trying not to lash out at a group of whispering siblings, so he squeezed Terzo’s hand harder. Omega, too, had to bite his tongue against his anger.
The infirmary staff treated them with far more kindness, at least, helped by the fact that there were quite a few ghouls among their ranks. When they were shown to their private room, Omega sat their bags down in one of the chairs, glad to finally get the weight off his shoulder. Perhaps they had overpacked… and by more than a little. Whatever. Better to pack too much than to not have something they needed, he thought.
A friendly nurse gave them the rundown on what to expect, leaving Terzo with a pink gown and Omega with light blue scrubs to change into. Omega carefully helped Terzo dress before folding both of their clothes neatly. His nerves were getting the best of him, desperately doing anything he could with his hands. Terzo moved to the far side of the hospital bed, patting beside him and inviting Omega to join him. Omega rubbed the back of his neck, sizing up the empty space.
Omega’s heart was in his throat while the surgeon explained the procedure to them. Terzo held tightly onto his hand, and he knew that it was more for his benefit than Terzo’s. Terzo’s expression was serene, his hands resting on his middle, and Omega wondered how he found such inner peace in a time like this.
“Mio amato… Don’t you think I’m too big to fit up there with you?” Omega asked hesitantly. Terzo scoffed, pouting at being left alone. Omega brought a chair up to the bedside, giving Terzo a lingering kiss before laying his head down gingerly on Terzo’s belly and staring up at his mate, wondering if this would be the last opportunity he had to do this. Their time together awaiting the arrival of their child had been so special to them both, something that they never thought they would get. He wondered if there would be a next time for them.
As Terzo was wheeled to the operating room, Omega trailed behind, his legs feeling like lead and his head swimming. He gave Terzo one last kiss before their lives changed forever.
She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in all his millennia of existence. 9lbs 9oz, they’d told him. Quite large for a baby, they’d all said. No wonder Terzo had been struggling so much to support her weight on his slight frame.
“Here you go, Dad. A healthy baby girl!” a young ghoul nurse exclaimed as she thrust the screaming bundle into his arms, and suddenly his trembling hands felt steady and strong. They needed to be, supporting the weight of his entire world as he was now.
Her skin was the same dusky grey as Omega’s, her full head of hair the same snowy white. She shared his chin and cheekbones and pointed ears, one of her wide eyes a familiar shade of violet. Her horns were small but followed the same curve that his did. Omega’s genes were definitely strong; her little spaded tail had been wrapped around her chubby leg when they pulled her out, her tiny claw-tipped fingers balled into fists. By all accounts, you could never have told by looks alone that she was half human, save for the whites of her eyes not being black. But she had Terzo’s nose, and his white eye.
Omega couldn’t breathe. He felt his heart swell, full to bursting as it welcomed the new piece of itself he’d never realized how desperately he had been missing. He felt her little mind reach out to his with her quintessence like it often did when she was still in the womb, this time confused and seeking comfort, but she was too tired to maintain the connection for long. He sent her waves of gentle reassurance and love in return, not wanting to overwhelm her.
Terzo was dazed from the medication that he’d been given, but he reached out for their daughter, eyes pleading and full of awe. Omega was given the go-ahead as they finished stitching Terzo up, and he placed the newborn on his husband’s chest. Terzo gasped for air at the contact, letting out a ragged sob, and Omega began to shed fat tears of his own. They made it. They did it. They finally had their family.
They finally had their precious Starlight.
After she’d spent the better part of an hour bottle-feeding on and off, she had fallen asleep on Terzo’s bare chest, resting skin to skin with her Papa. Terzo seemed blissed out, floating on cloud nine. Omega was right there with him, the warmth that had bloomed through him when he first held her having never left his body.
The process of binding her to the mortal realm as a ghoul that wasn’t formed in the pit was agonizingly tedious, but necessary. Primo grew increasingly annoyed with their impatience, insisting that such rituals couldn’t be rushed. Blessedly, she slept through the entire process, exhausted by her entry into the world.
When Terzo again made room for him and patted the space beside him, Omega only hesitated for the briefest of moments before joining them, carefully climbing onto the bed and lying on his side, spooned up next to Terzo. Omega placed a large hand on Starlight’s back, running it slowly up and down much like he had before she was born. Starlight sighed, nuzzling closer to Terzo. Omega took a delicate kiss from his partner, a kiss full of pride and adoration and gratitude, overflowing with the love that he so eagerly poured into it.
Omega watched over them both as they got some much-needed rest. Sleep could wait for him, he already had everything he needed: his family. Healthy. Happy. Finally whole.

"Say goodbye~ as we dance with the devil tonight! Don't you dare look at him in the eye~ as we dance with the devil tonight~!"
Charlie has Lucifer and El exchange numbers in case of an emergency (El being a human in hell) but Lucifer just ends up calling to ask about Charlie a lot and eventually El is just like, "Why don't you just talk to her? Like over tea or something? She loves that new Sunflower brand that's been going around-" and it just goes crazy from there, haha. He ends up kidnapping her for her help in writing Charlie a invitation letter. It's so silly.
...Okay, so I did a mini comic thingy. Here ya go. This art style is hard. Oof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Has Luci thought about inviting Charlie over before? Absolutely. Has he ever gone through with it? Nope!
Fear of rejection, not knowing how to ask it, and not knowing how to reach out to ask it, all definitely stopped him. But someone else encouraging the idea/suggesting it makes him feel like maybe he wasn’t so foolish after all and that he might just have a shot at closing the gap between him and his daughter this time- especially if that said person is willing to help.

Possible interesting connections between Lucifer and Papa Legba
In Dahomean mythology, Legba is the youngest son of Mawu-Lisa - the Supreme Being; in other words, God. The Supreme Being Mawu-Lisa spoiled him and made him chief of the gods for his unparalleled musical talent. However, conflict arose between Legba and Mawu-Lisa, causing the youngest son to turn against his God. Legba was also punished by Mawu-Lisa, where he was turned invisible and made forever vodun for defying God’s wishes by giving humans magic.
Lucifer is (albeit, inconsistently) described as “the Divine Musician”, depending on how you interpret passages from the Book of Ezekiel. He was one of the most beautiful and closest “sons” to God, but he too famously turned against God. But unlike Legba, this conflict was far more grave and his punishment much more severe.
Potentially worth noting, the key passage specifically connects Lucifer to “tabrets” and “pipes”. Tabrets are instruments that are beaten/struck (like drums), while pipes are wind instruments (like flutes). In other words, Lucifer was probably not just the divine musician, but master of instruments similar to the drums and flutes mastered by Legba.
In Hazbin Hotel, Lucifer Morningstar wasn’t an angel who attempted to dethrone God out of mere pride; rather, he is described as a “dreamer” who was cruelly punished for giving humans free will. Parallels can be drawn between this and the Legba of Dahomean mythology, who was mistreated by God and later punished for giving humans magic. The fictional Lucifer Morningstar and the real-life Papa Legba both fill these interesting roles, as those who crossed over from the divine to give gifts to humanity.
This is another reason I think “Big Papa”  makes for an interesting character. The “Divine Musicians” - Legba and Lucifer - fit well into this musical-themed show that draws from different world religions.

El has gotten used to people randomly bursting out into song. She has not gotten used to be dragged into musical numbers and forced to dance- and especially was not expecting it to happen with the King of Hell himself. Poor El. She has no idea she just became his emotional support human. Haha!
For the little drabble I wrote where El tries to help Lucifer write a letter to Charlie, and he's like, "Hey! If this works out, I'll help you survive in Hell. If it doesn't, well, haha, fuck you, I guess." And then they have a second musical number, one that's super emotional, and she reassures him Charlie won't hate him.
Link is here, hope it works: https://www.tumblr.com/avionvadion/741473939450216448/i-have-no-self-control-so-here-ya-go?source=share
Bonus doodles under the cut! Because... I didn't really like it, save for Lucifer's sad faces, and didn't wanna outline.
Tumblr media
The song here is Lost Within, by the way. El isn't affected by the Hell/Heaven Song magic so if she wants an emotional music number she has to sing a song she knows from her time on Earth.

Interweave Knits, Winter 2022
This issue offers both large wraps, sweaters and an assortment of hats and cowls to keep those of us up north warm this winter.
The cover has the Fiddler Sweater by Donna Estin which is made of Jo Sharp New Era DK Superwash and then shifts to the same brand’s Rare Comfort Kid Mohair for the cuffs. Extra fuzzy yarns are harder to work, so if you aren’t used to them using small areas, especially collars and cuffs, is a great way to get started. Then you can work up to patterns use mohair blends as stripes or motifs, and maybe one day a WHOLE sweater. Be brave, you too can learn.
The green Lineage Scarf by Antonia Cavaliere only a 2 out of 4 on difficulty and uses cables and seed stitch to create a 70″ long scarf in Plymouth Yarn Galway Worsted. The Ancestors’ Stole may be too long to be easy to handle coming it at over 94″, but you can always decided to skip a repeat in the length. Sarah Shepherd designed it in Kelbourne Woolens Germantown and it is a 3 out of 4 for difficulty. Fortunately, an article on grafting lace patterns by Joni Coniglio spells out how to finish up this wrap and other lace patterns that mirror from end to end.
I like a tall collar when it is cold and the Plaited Pullover by Estefania Espindola has that plus cabled that run down its saddle shoulders to the cuffs. The yarn is Harrisville Designs WATERshed which is a wool in worsted weight. It is a 3 out of 4 in difficulty.
The cream and green Greensward Pullover by Sierra Morningstar uses a slip stitch rib pattern and raglan shaping done up in Berroco Vintage DK, and another 3 out of 4 in difficulty.
There are a total of 2 throws, 3 wraps or shawls, a ruana, 4 sweaters, and 2 cowls and 2 hats. Lots of cables, some laces, and plenty of variety. You can find at your local yarn shop, newsstand, or online here: https://www.interweave.com/interweave-knits-magazine/
