People I think would be a part of Master Windu's book club:
● Ponds - whether he likes it or not he's there for the soom (space zoom) calls and he gets the interesting parts read aloud to him (he's the biker bf to Mace's booktok girly gf)
● Cody - joined bc he was bored during his brief stint in the 91st, but has since become invested. has his own secondary club amongst the 212th command staff
○ Obi-Wan - reads over Cody's shoulder, inputs his opinions when stealing Cody's soom call snacks
● Fox - his vibes for a book club are immaculate. was offered a spot soon after posting, has the hottest takes
● Bly - joined after reading over Cody and Fox' shoulders while on leave, begged to join, has some of the most indepth takes on the books, also a hopeless romantic
○ Aalya - simular to Obi-Wan, reads over Bly's shoulder, adds thoughts when relevant
● Master Ti - strong willed booktok girly, is the reason they read "Where the Crawdads Sing" and "The Woman in Cabin 10"
● Master Che - joined for the book recommendations, stayed for the gossip
● Madame Nu - founding member
● Kit - has the same book vibes as Mace but more high energy, brings the best snacks for in person meetings
People banned from Mace Windu's Bookclub:
● Yoda - grandmaster crimes + troll + old = banned
● Anakin - this club is Mace's restbute from that lineage's insanity, he barely tolerates Obi-Wan joining over Cody's shoulder
● Depa - Mace does not want to know what his child thought of "A walk to Remember" or "The Girl with the Pearl Earring"

should I read Wives And Daughters? do you recommend it?
Hello! Thanks for asking!
If you like nineteenth-century British literature of the slice-of-life drama/romance with an emphasis on character development sort, and if you aren't daunted by very long books, you will probably like Wives and Daughters.
It's about Molly Gibson, a teenage girl approaching adulthood, and everything that ensues from A) her widowed father's remarrying a woman with a daughter around Molly's age and B) Molly's connection with the Hamleys, a family of the gentry with two young adult sons. Molly ends up caught in the middle of other people's drama, while privately dealing with her own struggles, and the novel as a whole is about her coming of age. Unfortunately, the book is unfinished, since author Elizabeth Gaskell died before she could complete the last installment, but it's finished enough that it's pretty clear how it will wrap up even though we don't have the details.
Gaskell has a distinct style and focus that has some commonalities with Austen or the Brontes but is very much its own thing. She is beautifully sympathetic to her characters, who are complex and believable, and if you read Wives and Daughters, you will get to know and appreciate the cast quite well.
It's been a while since I've read the book, but I have a lot of affection for it, and for the BBC miniseries which was my introduction to the story, and can definitely say that I recommend it.

See, I was thinking he could just tap into your bloodstream. If he's hanging out in Rain's pocket we already know where he's getting the cells to convert from, and, well, why overcomplicate the system that's already there?
I may have just answered my own question by realizing that Rain would probably be turbo-weirded out by the more straightforward proposal.

@shecarnionmyval, I hope you got home safely. I'm still baffled over you getting all the way to Missouri that fast, and for baked goods alone, but you're pretty fun company. (For a kid who's twelve or whatever, anyway :p ) School's starting back up soon, so tell me how that goes! Hope your moms aren't too mad at me over you crashing here, but it was late, and I didn't want you traveling before daylight.

She seemed angry—a response that he had expected from her with how he had been treating her. Avoiding her, saying things to her out of anger that a child shouldn’t be saying to his caregiver—his mother—and perhaps he had regretted them at the time. Perhaps he still does. He had reacted out of anger; out of fear—she was the only parent he knew. She had taken the boy from an orphanage at such a young age and raised him—raised him very well—and yet he was so obsessed with the fact that she wasn’t who he thought she was ( in his mind ) and that had bred a fear in him that he didn’t matter. How many times had she always been there for him? How many times had she helped him get out of a situation where he needed help? Every time—you couldn’t count it one hand. She was his mother—she loved him and he loved her, but Ezreal threw all of that away because of his insecurities and his fears and his emotional baggage that came from wearing his heart in his sleeve his entire life. The insecurities that he was only there for her image, that eventually he would have become this way because of her instead—
He was wrong. But it was much too late for him to have that revelation.
Those thoughts and those worries didn’t matter to him anymore. Nothing that had involved who he was prior to this really mattered. His so called friends, his mother, his life as a Star Guardian—he’d throw it all away for his new purpose, if he had to. Only one person—one being; the being that had turned him into this—mattered. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t come and see his mother. They were on the same side, now. Perhaps they could fix this after all. And if not, he wouldn’t care; his personality twisted into something sinister and much more dark from the pure, kindhearted boy he used to be. He was warped into something that one thought Ezreal would never become.
The clawed, shadowed hand curled and he pressed his chin against it, resting it against the arm of the seat he sat in, watching her carefully—listening to her carefully despite the eyes that flickered in his shadows, blinking and shifting before settling on her briefly. They closed; the shadowed half just that, now—wispy shadows that moved like a vigorous flame.
Tumblr media
“Changed a lot more then that. Why’re you ignoring the elephant in the room? Last I figured, wasn’t this what you wanted? For me to see your side of things? To understand?” There’s a glint in his normal, purple eye—once baby blue in colour and filled with innocence and purity—now darkened and hardened—spiteful and malicious. The pulsating of light in his arm continues before he shakes it rather violently—angry, almost; causing it to stop for now, wrinkling his nose briefly before bringing his attention back to her.
“I over reacted, y’know. I shouldn’t have done what I did—Shouldn’t have avoided you, shouldn’t have been so harsh. I just didn’t get it, Morg—can’t you understand that?” It almost like a half assed apology, the way it comes out. Ezreal rises from his seat and steps towards her, the island the only think between them as he leans forward. He wants her to look at him—To see what he has become; to show her that this is what had happened in his time away. That this is who he was now, regardless of her influence.
“I met someone. Made things real clear about everything. Who I am, how people treat me. Turns out, I’m better off like this. You don’t look so thrilled.” He snorts, tilting his head softly to the side. “I thought you’d like to see me like this. Thought you’d be happy that I’m home, y’know?”
“Isn’t this what you wanted?”

Honestly, I think if Rain Mikamura's issues were explored more rather than sanded down by both the show and fandom when they aren't convenient for a joke, she might have had a chance at being one of my all-time favorite characters.
I've alluded to the idea that bringing her jealousy issues to the forefront would thematically strengthen the back end of the show, and tackling her communication problems on the same level as Domon's would have made them work much better as a pairing.
(they have polar opposite issues where Domon needs to be told "hey, people would like to know this, so say it," while Rain expects people to read her mind) (I'd still ship her with Schwarz though tbh)
Also, she owns multiple guns and threw a wrench at Domon's head at one point. This woman is violent and repressing it.
FInally, there's the fact that Rain seems to think that she can, and is expected to, control the behavior of other people. Her meltdown over her father's actions where she concludes that she is equally responsible kind of suggests this, and she spends a lot of time trying to control Domon's behavior even when he's not doing something reckless. I would have really liked if the final arc had some kind of element of the inherent horror in taking that to it's logical conclusion, since we know the DG can literally control people.
I really think my biggest gripe about her is that most people follow the writers in pretending that the flaws they gave her don't exist, and without them, Rain is kind of a boring, can-do-no-wrong type that I really cannot stand, so as a result I can go between really liking her and avoiding the hell out of her.
